Finally! After 4 months of searching, I have found pizza like Paglliacci in Seattle! This was some delicious pizza! We tried pepperoni and the apple bacon slice. And the slices were HUGE! The bacon was salty, peppery, and crisp without being too done, with sliced roma tomatoes, sliced apples, and lots of cheese- a unique flavor profile that bacon lovers can rejoice in! I loved it. The pepperoni was not too greasy, with a lucious cheese blend, a light but savory sauce, and the most perfectly crisp, thin crust! They have unusual seating, eclectic and fun, and no one freaked out at my son and a bunch of other kids playing on the old piano while we waited for our grub- a perk with a young family! The best pizza I have eaten in the Treasue Valley. It is now my go-to spot.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this hip pizza spot in downtown Nampa. Similar to Pagliacci and Honest Pizza in Seattle, with an emphasis on non-meat ingredients and unusual combinations. Went first for dinner and ordered a medium....way too big for two people.Salad bar was awesome as well as having two kinds of root beer on tap (plus cream soda and ginger beer). Went back for lunch. The (big) slice, salad bar and soda (again you can have one of soft drinks on tap) for around $7 is a steal!

This is sort of a hipster-ish dive along the mean and rugged streets of Nampa, which is basically a commuting city just outside of Boise. Vibe here was rather disheveled, reminding me a lot of an old used bookstore. If you're inclined, you can eat in the window, sort of by proxy approximating the thing Harlan Ellison once did by typing a short story in a bookstore window...only without a manual typewriter...and with pizza...and without story. I sort of dug the overall thing, but they were also slow, almost amazingly so, just for something as simple as appetizers. The appetizer, the sort of Pesto Garlic Bread they had, was by far the best thing of the visit. The pizza wound up being some sort of meat thing. It tasted a bit on a bland side, so I blasted it with peppers and would have socked it with grated cheese...except there was none. Ever what kind of a pizza place doesn't put cheese out in the shakers? This kind. It's a pity, as that pizza could have really used it. Later on, in a stunningly rare event for me, I got some pizza backlash, so while I would consider giving this dreadfully slow place, with its silly chalkboard scrawled menu and rather messy interior another shot, it won't be very high on my list to rush back to.

The BEST pizza ever!!! All food & drinks worth while here but the pizza rocks!! Great atmosphere & not too painful on the wallet. My fave pizza is the one with bacon & apples... Surprisingly delicious!!

Are you kidding me, brick oven style pizza at a super affordable price?! Enough said. The people are cool and the atmosphere is a hipster "come as you are" vibe. Cholos, hippies, preps, kids, old folks, we all love this place. I love hippies, they make pretty damn good pizza by the way. 208 son!

Yummm! Probably the best pizza in NAmpa and they even sell by the slice. Great place to grab a quick slice and/or salad bar for lunch. If you order an entire pizza to go it will barely fit in the box... They're hand tossed and HUGE :) If you like garlic I highly recommend the garlic breadsticks!

Interesting art on the walls and the pizza reflects it: artfully designed, and tasty, too. I favor the Sam Adams IPA. They've turned the downtown into a mall and the pub has kept it warehouse funky. It's a pretty hip place where hip people like to hang out. Enjoy!

Wonderful sandwiches. Huge pizzas. Great ingredients. Always something tasty on tap. Another must eats in downtown Nampa.

If I were writing this review based solely on the quality of the pizza and the ingredients that go into it, Messenger would get more than five stars if I were able to give them. This is the best pizza in the valley, period. The pizza is huge, like Jabba the Hutt after Thanksgiving dinner huge. A single slice luxuriously drapes itself over two paper plates and begs to be folded in half just so it can be handled with some modicum of decency. Unfortunately, this big of a pizza comes with a fairly hefty price tag. A large, single topping pizza can easily come in over $20 and it would not be hard to get that price over $30 by adding extra toppings. If you are feeling decadent, get a large with ham, sausage, and pepperoni. It will come on a pan large enough to double for a sled during blizzard conditions and it will taste like heaven. It will also cost you about $30 but it is worth it. The Messenger also sports a very good assortment of beer and microbrew rootbeers. If you like rootbeer, get a pitch of Crater Lake to wash down the pizza. If you want more of an adult tasting rootbeer, try the Bucksnort. It is more of a dry soda that has stronger ginger overtones. I am not a huge fan of it but my wife loves it. Other than the price, my only other slight complaint is in regards to the staff. Most of the staff are very friendly individuals but a couple of them are on the pushy and slightly demanding side. They have a habit of not-so-subtly letting you know when they think you have spent too much time on your meal and they want to free up your table for other customers. I can respect that mentality when the lunch rush is on and the place is stacked to the rafters but I have never been in there when absolutely every spot in the restaurant has been taken. That being said, I couldn't care less about the staff's attitude when they make a pizza as good as these guys do. Though their by-the-slices prices are excellent, I wish the price of a whole pizza was as good. Either way, if you want the best pizza in the greater Boise area, Messenger has it and you need to eat it.

Excellent pizza and beer! Need a good place that had a good beer selection and this was it. Bartender very knowledgable about the beer considering their extensive list. He really helped narrow your choices down. Several options for different pizzas and they were super thin crust, homemade sauce deliciousness. Typically good size for one-two people and rectangle in size.

This place has good 'za, and wonderful home-made soda. Prices quite reasonable. Check for specials. I like that they use good hand-sliced mozzarella. Very nice craft beer selection too.

Wow a hidden gem in Nampa. Pizza was awesome prices exceptional! Highly recommended if you are craving really good thin crust pizza.

  • Amber S.

Spectacular! Found this place on a whim. HUGE slices with delicious unique toppings. I love in Boise and frequent guidos and pie hole. But messenger gives them a run for their money. Especially since they have a salad bar as well and a larger menu with soups and sandwiches. I will definitely be make the trip to Nampa just for this place. They need to branch out and get another restaurant in Boise/meridian.

Think of it not as a slice of pizza, but as a wedge-shaped full pizza. The sizes are astonishingly large. I've tried the turkey sandwich and the Drunken Goat pizza. The turkey sandwich was a good sandwich, large, with identifiable turkey meat (not the gelatinous deli stuff). It came with a small cookie and a fruit. I had a difficult time both finishing it and eating it because it was so thick. I almost resorted to using a fork. The Drunken Goat pizza is the first "extremely weird" pizza I've had that I have liked. It's bacon, figs, quite a lot of arugula, all drizzled in a sauce that seems to be a blend of chocolate syrup and American-style balsamic vinegar. I would not have thought it would work so well together. The decor is either a chaotic mess of whatever they could find at local garage sales, or a cleverly themed blend of brightly colored antique pieces merged in a creative manner. For example, I sat on a stool made from three very different wooden chairs which had a padded board attached across them all. Kind of cool, really. A variety of microbrews are available, but I stuck with water for my business lunch. The service was friendly, helpful, and patient. The guy that took our order reminds me of Vaughn Miller from "Community", except that I didn't find him annoying. Overall this is a creative, fun place with a selection of unusual food and even stranger decor. I'd visit again even if I didn't like the food, if only to view the art and furniture.

Two days in a row , three times this week is bikini season over yet ? Hahaha great place friendly staff and all my family agrees the best pizza in town

  • Joshua W.

Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Try the ginger beer-super good. Good tap selection including local beers and Russian River's Old Rasputin. The pizza is large and in charge and the ingredients are top notch. This is the real deal pizza shop, not some greasy wannabe that leaves you gassy and disappointed. Quirky decor, but I'm into that sort of thing. Charming place, good for groups. You're gonna want to bring an appetite.

  • Sarah T.

This place is amazing! The bacon apple pizza changed my life. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They have a great selection of beer, wine, and soda. I can't say enough about their pizza. There is traditional pepperoni or Hawaiian but they also have these amazing combinations that I never would have thought of. They have a pizza called "Chuck Norris"...do I need to say more??? Oh, and they were rockin' out to the Pixies in the kitchen

  • Caroline T.

Ordered a slice of pepperoni and a Lager for dinner. The pizza was fabulous! Not too much grease with a great flavor. Lager I got (not sure the name) was delicious and perfectly paired with the slice. Would recommend to anyone!

I've eaten pizza here a few times now and it's been pretty good each time. This place offers a lot of various options for pizza, many of them that cater to the hippy dippy vegetarian crowd. They also offer sandwiches and a salad bar, to which many people say they absolutely love. I have yet to try one of the sandwiches or the salad bar, but plan to someday. They also seem to make a lot of less traditional American style pizzas here. Meaning that they don't have as many pizzas on the menu with the red sauce. I think they will put just about any kind of sauce you want on your pie, but reading the menu shows that they really push the pesto or other type of pizza sauce option. It's kind of like one of those flatbread pizza joints mated with a flying pie/pie hole pizza joint and had an even more hipstery, vegetarian love child. I suppose it's good for those that like to get adventurous and do different stuff with pizza, but I'm boring I suppose. I stick to the traditional red sauce pizzas like their "pie fight." The pie fight is a very good pizza, so I recommend you try it. They also supply plenty of different hot sauces and pizza accompaniments/condiments to jazz up your pizza however you like. The whole place and much of the clientele are very much a part of the whole trendy/hipster/dudebro universe of folks. So if you aren't into that kind of scene, then you may not like it here. If you aren't put off by dudes with gauged ears, wild pompadour hairdos, bright colored hair, capri pants, and band tees then this will be one you definitely need to try.

Good pizza. Decent beer. Bizzarre place. Hippy hangout (maybe all of Nampa is hippy?). Kids running around loose. Nose rings, tats, etc. The guy who took our order seemed stoned - he was confused, asked odd questions and I kept having to repeat myself, but the pizza was good (wish it had been a bit warmer) and the salad bar was fresh. Lettuce variety looked like it came from my garden -yum. We ordered slices from the counter because we were short on time. I would imagine a fresh pizza would be better. Wine selection greatly surpassed the beer selection (considering this is labeled as a brewery, I expected more). My beer had good flavor, but seemed lacking in carbonation (or something??). Hubby enjoyed his IPA. Kids said the orange cream soda tasted like ice cream. Price seemed cheap IMO. Under $40 for the four of us.

Best pizza and calzones anywhere!! This place has the most amazing food and employees! This is where awesomeness, Pie Hole and eclectic meet. And they are located next to the best craft beer bar in town!!!

Easy place to hang out and have a slice. I recommend the salad bar too. Haven't tried their sandwiches, but will be back in the future.

This was my first time at the establishment and went away full. They have multiple option to choose from when selecting a pizza. You can order by the slice, have a pizza made or even call ahead so it's ready and waiting for you when you arrive. For the gluten sensitive individuals they have a crust for you. I would recommend calling ahead to make sure they know your coming. It didn't appear they had individual slices in gluten free crust, but I also didn't ask. I ordered a slice of an herb chicken and spinach pizza which was good, but the crust was a little on the dry side. I found myself dipping my pizza in ranch for a little extra moisture. The size of the individual slice was very large so I shared with my spouse. They have a salad bar that had a fair amount of vegetables, a couple cheese options and several dressings. It was just an ok salad bar, but nothing to write home about. The drink selection include soda, beer on tap as well as bottles and cans of different beverages. Overall it was a good experience and plan to come back. I like to support or local diners in Nampa and it's nice to see more dining options coming to the downtown area.

I have tried this pizza a few times for company lunches. The size of the pizza and slices are great for these kind of events. They have alot of DIFFERENT options..... meaning outside the box kind of pizza which I find great, even with the sandwiches and wraps. Salad bar is okay they have alot of options but slot of the same. It does get really busy during lunch hours, even getting your food could take a little bit to get. I would recommend this place.

  • Brad H.

Pizza was good, nothing special. My wife ordered a calzone. After 20 minutes and no calzone I went up and asked for it to go since the rest of us had finished eating. We were given a $5 gift card but we won't be back.

    (2)
  • Samantha M.

The pizza is a bit spendy but very good. However, their ambiance, while cool and trendy feeling, puts me off. The furniture in the place is super old and you sink into the seats. Great selection of beer but not so great selection of non-acoholic beverages.

  • Josh W.

This is an excellent spot to have a slice of pizza and a pint of beer. The apple bacon pizza is ridiculously good, the perfect amount of sweet from the apple and savory from the bacon. The service is bright and upbeat, you would never think that this place is in NAMPA! Great spot to relax and study or go with a group of friends! It is a mix of flying pie in atmosphere and Casanova pizzeria for pizza style.

  • Vince G.

Amazing pizza. I had the Apple Bacon and the Jalapeño Popper. Both good but the Apple Bacon soared above. What a delight! GF crust is ok, kinda on the dry side.

If you are in Nampa for a day, be sure to drop in and enjoy a slice. Ambience: Hipster

    (5)
  • Nate W.

Good place to go for pizza. I have to buy more than one slice in order to feel satisfied though. If you like beers, they have a ton of them. They are not expensive, but I have to fill up by buying two pizzas slices.

  • Jesse S.

Unfortunately, service is not part of Messenger Pizza's mission. The pizza is higher quality, as compared to Pizza Hut, but the management's complete lack of service should be noted. I ordered 5 of their largest pies that cost me over $133 and asked to double slice them for smaller portions. The immediate answer I received from the "bosses" was, "no" - "the pizzas were already in the box." I responded asking the person at the front counter if their establishment liked having repeat customers based upon their level of service and the answer I received was, "sorry, I don't make the rules, my bosses do." It is too bad too, their pizza is pretty good, but their complete lack of consideration for such as small request is enough to keep me from returning.

We've been eating here for years, got turned on to it by our parents who always want to meet us there. This place is run by the coolest crew of hipsters you'll ever see in Nampa, ID. The thin crust pizza is delicious!! These people represent pizza by the slice, or whole pie. Ok, they have a moderate menu of options, but we go there for the pizza. They can prepare incredible gluten free pizzas as well with crust just as flavorful with little texture difference. The staff is always polite and accommodating, which makes the experience so much more enjoyable. We've seen a few different musical ensembles perform there while dining, and had some fun times there. If you love deliciously flavorful pizza, then I would highly recommend you experience Messenger Pizza.

The hidden crown jewel of Nampa. I was not optimistic when i showed up, but was very pleasantly surprised by the genuine service, flavor-packed pizza, and wide variety of fine ales... Showed up 20 minutes before the 3pm special of a HUGE slice of pizza and a pint for $6. Got an excellent recommendation of hoppirilla, GREAT IPA. Asked if there were any pies coming out and luckily there was an artichoke heart, spinach, mushroom, pesto fresh out of the oven. Best $6 i have spent. Thank you messenger pizza and brewery

  • J W.

Holy cow... The salad bar here makes me so happy! Great healthy options. It's been a fun challenge finding vegan food in Nampa. I'm glad to know the Messenger is here. I can fill up on that salad bar for less than $6, and share a pizza with no cheese on half of it for me. (If they started giving vegan cheese as an option, I might just get fat here!) Great beer and local wine selection. They've really set it up inside to be a fun place to hang out. Servers are great and sometimes f'ing hilarious. And I love all of the art on the walls!

  • Vanessa L.

It's nice to see a boutique pizza joint in downtown Nampa. Apparently it has been there for years unbeknownst to me. What a shame. It appears I have a lot of Messenger dining to do to make up for those lost years. We had a fig and prosciutto pizza that was heavy in the balsamic but still scrumptious and it went down real smooth with our craft beers. And did I mention the great pricing they offer? Can you say "regularinthemaking" ?

  • John P.

Pizza was ok but they kicked us out of a table that did not have a reserved sign on it because someone had reserved half the restaurant. The guy literally stood there staring at us until we got up and left.

Very friendly service. Pizza is absolutely delicious! If you're feeling adventurous go for the Drunken Goat. Different and AMAZING!!! WE'LL BE BACK FOR SURE!

  • Dawn E.

I used to love this place..BUT last 3 times I went, the amazing bacon apple (pear) pizza was out. I opted for other slices, and the crust was very disappointing..flavorless, a tad burnt, and just blah. :( Salad bar is good though...

  • Misty W.

Our family LOVES the Messenger! Best pizza, great service, amazing local place to come have a meal with the people you want to hang out with. Our communities need more places like this, distinctive, with personality and flavor! I personally love any pesto slice topped with fig, b-29 bacon and goat cheese. (It's just the absolute best thing that they offer B-29 bacon!)

    (5)
  • Chris K.

Quirky and cozy place... Plenty of local brew options on tap (including two root beers) and some imaginative topping combinations on their house pizzas. The Drunken Goat pizza was DELICIOUS! Goat cheese, figs, bacon, balsamic, and arugula. Great crust - not too thin and with the right amount of crispy. Because I had to work four hours after visiting Messenger Pizza, I tried one of the root beers (choosing the one recommended by the staff member). Nice and thick, with just the right hint of vanilla. I've passed the restaurant each day since I ate there - and they had live music. Good pizza, good beer, and good music - just might be a good excuse to eat there once more before I leave Nampa. UPDATE - I returned two days later for more pizza and a REAL beer. Just as awesome as the first time.

Down to earth place that serves great beer and "artisan" pizza....we always come here when we are in town.

    (5)
  • Meg d.

We got a gluten free pepperoni pizza and the gluten free drunken goat. Gluten free pizzas only come in one size, but each one was more than enough pizza for two people. The drunken goat was fantastic - figs, bacon, arugula and cheese. Yum! This is a cute little restaurant in Nampa's downtown area. Reasonable prices and fresh food. The folks eating the gluten-full slices had HUGE slices that looked equally as good. Nice little restaurant.

Very unusual pizza joint with weird looking decor of Asian lanterns, umbrellas, bear heads, Indian rugs, and paintings. A great selections of food and drinks on the menu will surely please anyone. They actually make 24" pizzas too.

    (4)
  • A G.

I love that they have so many healthy choices, even being a pizza place. Their salad bar is probably the best one I've been to. Fresh sliced carrots! I almost like the other food they offer better than the pizza. It's ok. It does have huge slices. Lots of good combinations, too. Great ingredients. It's a fun atmosphere. Old and funky.

ORIGINAL: Good tasting pizza and they actually have habenero on hand which is surprisingly rare for other pizza places. Great place by the slice. UPDATED: So today I stopped in and had something other than 'A Slice' and I guess you could say my habenero tinted glasses were pulled from my eyes. First of all let me set the scene, round noon on a Friday afternoon we walk up and maybe a third of the seats were occupied, no one in line. I enjoyed my last visit so I figured I'd try something new, something not 'by the slice' which is just code for the premade pizza's sitting under heat lamps they pull from to reheat. I ordered a 6 inch calzone, as did my partner while my 3 year old daughter got 'A Slice'. After some 30 minutes of awkwardly waiting at a metal table that sucked the warmth from your hands and forearms as you stare awkwardly across at other tables. This enjoyable experiance was interrupted every 5 minutes with some random staff asking "Waiting for a slice?". I kid you not every 5 minutes. Finally had to go, hey call me naive but I though I could have lunch down here, ya know in the amount of time most people have for lunch. So we get up to go, say bro need this to-go so we some awkwardly wrapped calzones and no bag or box mind you. Which made for a fun balancing act down the sidewalk. I was fortunate enough my partner noticed we didn't get our slice of pizza for the kid. So here came another 5 minutes, also forgot to cut it in half for the child... Get to the car and let the kid have at her's and I notice its a burnt greasy mess. I'd love to tell you about the calzone but by the time I had time again to eat it was cold and I decided to chalk that 5 dollars to a lesson learned. Maybe it's just me but I never see what others dig in these dive pizza joints that are all the rage. I mean the pizza on the first visit was good, but then so is Little Ceaser's or Pizza Hut when you really get down to "good" pizza. Looking around today I have to ask who are these people that really dig eating on thrift store furniture that clutter the restaurant as if it's some sort of coffee shop, leaving about 3 actually tables to eat at. Including that frigid metal one we grabbed, which we had to bus ourselves as it was the only place for us as a family to sit, can't forget that little tidbit. But I'm half tempted to order a pizza and let it sit on that table to time how long it goes from hot to frigid, I bet it could set some records! That's all I got: paid for a lunch I never got to eat while my kid happily chewed on some burnt 'roni.

Love the ambience, which is set up for a younger crowd. Pizza slices are huge, yet rather thin. Salad bar is good, but at over $5, a bit over-priced. Love that they source local and are against GMOs. Wish there were more places like this in Nampa.

    (3)
  • Matt D.

Try a slice before you buy. I bought a whole pizza and it was just ok. Quality was good, service was good, so I really wanted to like it, but it just didn't taste all that great.

  • David J.

You heard of the 'Wish Sandwich'? That is where you have two slices of bread, and wished you had some meat between them. Well this is the home of the 'Wish Pizza' where you have a 1/16" thin crust and wished you had some toppings that are more than just some color blotted on with a sponge. No flavor at all beside crust, doesn't matter which slice you pick. Salad bar is your best bet here. Skip the 'Wish Pizza'.

  • Jennifer R.

Good pizza, good prices, fun atmosphere. I notice people avoiding the green bench, which covers a whole wall. I hope they replace that sometime. I love the artichoke slice. Next we'll try the gluten free pizza.

  • Joshua B.

I really like this place. They have some wonderful pizzas (the Drunken Goat and Apple Bacon are my favorites). Also they have some wonderful beers. Sometimes the line can be out the door during peak hours (dinner/lunch time), but is worth the wait. I wish their red sauce was a little more exciting. Come have a slice and a beer!

  • Rebecca F.

I'm gluten free and this restaurant definitely meets my needs. They have an awesome salad bar and have really good hand-made gluten free crust. I just order to whole GF pizza for me and take the leftovers home. The GF breadsticks are actually probably one of the most affordable GF baked-goods I can call to mind... and tasty.

  • Scott N.

I've been here a few times and it seems consistent. It's a good pizza place with a pretty good beer selection. They also have a salad bar. This is not a high service place. You go to the register to order and you pay. They have adequate inside seating on vintage (that's a euphemism for old, right?) tables & chairs. Overall, the pizza is very good and the beer selection is good.

    (3)
  • Travis G.

I haven't found a better slice of Pizza. Crispy thin crust with delicious concoctions using the wonderful dough. Happy hour is a pretty damn good deal and the people working here are fun as well. Really clever phrase on the tip cup as well! Give it a try.

Funky pizza by slice place that makes some of the best pizza in Treasure Valley. Huge beverage selection. Vibe reminds me of Austin.

  • David E.

Being originally from New Jersey I'm picky about pizza. Love Messenger pizza. Big slices, great variety of sodas and great service. Pizza is thin crust and some imaginative topping selections, but maybe TOO imaginative for me. They don't offer just a plain cheese slice. They most basic pre made pie is pepperoni. Would be good if they had a cheese pie available and you can add your ingredients to it like mushroom and sausage only. But that's my only gripe.

    (4)
  • Andy M.

This place is stellar. They have huge slices, mainly made with organic, local ingredients when they can source them. They have a wide array of unique pizzas. The large is feed a family of five large. They have a great salad bar and a good collection of beers. Overall, it's my fave pizza place in the area.

Hip pizza by the slice joint, fresh salad bar. A few more places like this and Nampa might not be half bad.

Great space. Quirky decor but fun. Pizza was good (huge slices) and salad bar had a great selection. Downtown Nampa could use more places like this.

  • Donna W.

I was so excited when a friend of mine reccomended this place. She said they had a "great salad bar". Wellllllllll if you consider a 4 foot long cart with few salad makings- and I mean very few-"great"- you have some really low standards. I love salad, I am a vegetarian so its part of a lot of my meals out, for me to pass on it speaks VOLUMES. Sooooo I ordered a Pizza, my husband got a couple individual slices. I love Pizza, I could live on Pizza, its one of my favorite foods in the whole world- I had one slice of it, took the Pizza home and THREW IT OUT. Hubby could not stand his, we stopped at Jack in The Box afterwards so he could get food. I think the chef mistook their cardboard pizza boxes for the crust and put the cheese on it and cooked it by mistake. I have served my dogs biscuits that were more tender then this hard crust. Honestly I think they could have made the tiles for the space shuttle out of it. Seriously disappointed. Its Nampa, ID, so I guess they do not have a lot to compare to.

Pizza is great, salad bar is great, new sandwiches are the BOMB! Point of Sale needs to be streamlined, but when I have time, it's worth the wait. Great beer and wine selection as well.

  • Ben M.

Great place for a slice and a pint. As a teacher who eats lunch around 10:30 their happy hour (3 to 5) is perfect for after school. Great thin crust with a good amount of chew, not overly smitten with their red sauce, but their pesto is fantastic! They also have a small but good selection of brews on tap as well as always having a cider as well.

    (4)
  • Scottie K.

Amazing pizzas! Dough and sauces are made fresh every day. Great selection of brews on tap and in the case! Unique combos of toppings--both traditional favorites and mind-blowing stretches of the imagination. The Nampa-native owners of this creative dining experience bring something truly remarkable to our fine city!

This place is great. I really enjoy the salad bar.

Every time I am in town, I have to come here as this place gives me immense hope for Downtown Nampa. The salad bar is pretty great- and the pizza that must be tried is the amazing fig pizza in all its glory of greens, balsamic vinegar, and tangy cheese. Great beers, and actually some pretty good wines. Tried the root beer on tap and was too syrupy for my taste, which they happily replaced with a bottled root beer. Great for groups and well priced - quick and efficient service - an added plus of gluten free pizza - keep on sending the message!!

This place was great. Who would've thought nampa would have a modern and fun place like this. Very friendly staff even though my kids were loud.

I really really like this place. Great pizza, pleasant atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff, very good prices, excellent selection of beers (not that many on tap, but tons of brews in the coolers, and at least some of the beers on tap are likely to be excellent.. ask for a sample). Also, this place is open fairly late, though I forget what time they close. If this place were in Boise, I'd be there even more often. Worth the drive out to Nampa just to go to Messenger.

I came here with some friends that live in Nampa (I'm from Portland). They have really good beers on tap that rotate. The pizza is awesome. I recommend the Chuck Norris. Sure the place is counter-service but they came around and asked us if we wanted another beer. The people that worked there were really nice and had good attitudes. The decor is pretty cool too. It's also $2.50 for a slice; seems like a good deal. I recommend it. PS, I also thought Downtown Nampa was really cool, a very neat little charming artsy community. Seems like good things are going on there.

They really take care of their customers. I came in for lunch and ordered a gluten free calzone, the order never got place. So I was apologized too and given a full refund plus a free calzone card for next time. I was really looking forward to the calzone that I came back for dinner. Used my free card and was recognized from early and given my hard cider for free also. My gluten free calzone with goat cheese was wonderful. I'm so glad I have a place to go and still get pizza and and calzones and breadsticks that are gluten and dairy free!

Love, love, love this place!! I recently found this hot little pizza joint and have been hooked ever since! If you don't live in Nampa, it's totally worth the drive! If you like a little heat you have to try the jalapeño popper pizza! It is out of this world! Be prepared for sliced larger than your face! They put one slice on two paper plates, and it still doesn't fit! Check this place out!

The pizza is delicious. The vibe in the place is super fun. I've gone a few times with either family or a large group. Each time was lots of fun. I am madly in love with the fair warrior pizza. The staff is friendly and cool. You will catch the owner in the back wearing a tie dye shirt making pizza. I love places like this. Nampa needs more of it as far as I'm concerned.

YUM! I love this place! They have a nice variety of local beers as well as pizza combinations. Not to mention the fact that you need 2 plates to hold 1 slice of pizza! The slices are huge! I have tried the jalapeno pizza and the spinach pesto and both were delish! I didn't really think that the salad bar was anything to rave about, but it's not bad - just not "amazing". It's pretty basic. It's also very reasonably priced!

Messenger Pizza & Brewery has a different experience than your typical pizza joint. You order at the counter and they fill your drinks at that time, and they deliver your pizza to your table. If you want to use a plate they have paper plates available and recycling bins for mixed paper and glass. The staff delivered the pizza and then never returned. I didn't see them check on anyone but I did see people busing tables after customers left. I may have ordered another drink had someone asked. I'm not sure if I needed to go back to the counter and order another and pay again, or what. I would hate to think that for each drink I needed to pay again. That would be my only real negative of my experience. I visited on opening weekend and I assume these things will be addressed shortly. One thing I dislike about visiting new restaurants that are trying to do things a little differently is sometimes they haven't thought through the entire customer experience. This includes the tipping procedure. There was a tip jar on the counter and a place on the credit card receipt to put a tip but they didn't really have servers like a typical restaurant. Asking for a tip before you perform the service seems strange to me.They do serve pizza by the slice and for that it makes sense to pay at the time the order is placed but for a group of 4 that are ordering multiple pizzas and are planning on hanging out for a while it was strange. The atmosphere was great, the pizza was very delicious. At the time of my visit they didn't have the brewery running yet. I guess they were still running into issues with alcohol licensing. In a sea of chain pizza restaurants Messenger is a breath of fresh air and will be a frequent visit for me.

Great place. Awesome happy hour/lunch specials. Decent selection of beer. Definitely going to become a regular here.

Best pizza in the treasure valley. The good and rotating selection of craft brew is just icing on the cake. We stop in here nearly every time we're in Nampa. I'm pretty spoiled when it comes to pizza - I moved to Boise from Hoboken, NJ - so I was thrilled to find somewhere that compares (even beats) a lot of the pie from back east.

My favorite pizza! We like to take our kids here because of the relaxed atmosphere and great food. The salad bar is also very good.

Definitely a fun, trendy atmosphere. Mix-matched chairs and tables, cool artwork, nice employees. The music was a little too loud and heavy for our taste, especially with two small kids. The pizza was fairly good, not the best I've had but nice to have a unique pizza instead of a chain restaurant.

Wish I could give more stars! This is the very best pizza in the Treasure Valley. There sweet rolls are sublime and should be tried. What makes this pizza great is the crust, perfectly crips on the outside, not crunchy or dried and soft in the middle, not doughy. If your are looking for a thick doughy crust slathered in grease, keep heading down the street, there is a chain pizza place just for you. Do your taste buds a favor, eat here. Very good tap selection also.

I come here specifically for the salad bar. It is fresh, with variety and their dressings are supreme. The homemade garlic breadsticks are the perfect mix of chewy and garlic-y to compliment a perfect salad. We usually order a batch of garlic cheese sticks with dipping sauce because my son, of course, won't eat anything but cheese pizza, which isn't served by the slice. These garlic cheese sticks could sustain me, along with the salad bar, I believe for the rest of my life. Big chunks of garlic slathered in good quality cheese on a perfectly chewy pizza crust. MMM. Throw in one of the stellar beers on tap (or the root beer! amazing!) and I'm good to go. The pizza options aren't my favorite, and I feel like the pizza isn't anything spectacular, but it is good. I usually avoid the over-sized slices, but if you are in the mood for a giant slice greasy New York style this is the place to go. It was a needed addition to the Nampa downtown area and I am thankful it is there. Be prepared to stand in line for a while during busy hours, for everyone knows about this gem. If you can it is best to call ahead for a pizza order. If you are there for a premade slice and/or salad it doesn't take too long. Sometimes it seems like they don't have enough staff on hand during the busiest hours, but even then they are friendly and helpful. Seriously though, try the root beer.

Messenger Pizza, why are you so far away from me? But you are so good I am contemplating the 40 mile round trip drive from Boise's North End to eat you! Seriously, the best pizza in Boise..... er.... make that Nampa. But seriously good pizza and ingredients. They also make (not pull a crust out of the freezer) an awesome gluten free crust that is not comparable to anyone else in town! (I am not gluten free, however my hubby is). Happy hour is a HUGE slice of pizza and pint of beer (micro's included!) for $5, what a deal. Messenger Pizza just made Nampa a whole lot cooler!

Finally nampa gets a funky pizza joint with slammin pies and a great brew selection. Pizza is a cross between flying pie and piehole without the grease Excellent beers for nampa probably as much as this town can support. Nice to see they don't even have coors bud or miller on tap.

Fun place if you want a quick bite and chill in a casual restaurant. The slices of pizza are huge and come at a great price. I also had the salad bar and loved it, lots of goodies to offer, they even had sliced almonds and feta cheese. Moved here from the Portland area and walking into this place made me feel at home. And I must add the girl at the counter was extremely friendly... That is always a plus for me. Good food and great service. We will definitely return

We have been many times to Messenger, and ths past weekend had people visiting from out of town. What a treat the introduce them to Messenger Pizza. As always, any pizza you choose is excellent, and the salad bar has the best organic veggies, homemade salad dressing, roasted garlic breadsticks, croutons, etc. The atmosphere is pleasant for adults and is definitely kid friendly. Such a nice switch from Thanksgiving leftovers. Our guests were wishing they had a place like Messenger in their towns. They definitely want to return on their next visit here. Thanks for a great eclectic pizza restaurant in Nampa.

We went back. This time the pizza was still great... but the staff forgot one of the slices we had ordered. After waiting 15 min, my friend went back to ask about it.. they told us they forgot and it will be right out. Fifteen minutes later we asked again.. they had forgotten again. We did finally get the last slice.. and it was good. (not sure 30 minute wait good) I guess I could understand this if the place was full.. but there were only three customers. PLEASE fix your service issues... I really want to support you. The pizza is great, but service is SOOO important.

Nampa's perfect place to linger. Like the food, love the beer, fantastic people watching, kid friendly, easy parking, funky, and eclectic. Great salad bar and the pizza can be purchased by the slice or the whole pie and they are huge. Diffinently most exelent for someone who likes the pizza scene. This has been a place that I have came back to time and time again.

Stopped by while driving thru town. Liked the eclectic decor. My restless kids fit right into the ambience. Loved the beer I had on tap. Pizza prices were definitely reasonable. Unthinkingly, we ordered a 24" pizza. I was thinking, um , a large, but this thing was XXLarge! Wow! That was the biggest pizza I've ever seen! We didn't even get thru half of it. We ordered the Chuck Norris on whole wheat dough. The flavor combo was good but way too much cheese and greasiness. Staff was helpful and accommodating.

The concept if the drunken goat is right on. However...do something about the crust. The crust is inconsistent, tough, and flavorless. My recommendation is to wait until the crust improves. Additionally, there should be a little more cleaning daily to keep a place with great potential tidy and healthy looking.

Great little spot in downtown Nampa! Dropped in with a couple girlfriends for a quick bite before a Saturday night at the bar and it was love at first site...and bite. Quirky crowd, fun relaxed atmosphere, fantastic beer selection, inventive tasty pizza and a salad bar that looks fresh and edible to boot. Prices are super reasonable as well. Can't wait to go back!

We love the pizza here. Many times we want to go because we are hungry for pizza but decide not to. We do not care for Micro Brews and prefer a Bud or Coors and they dont have anything but specialty beers. Too bad as we would likely eat there weekly because of the great pizza and they are close to our home

Who love this place it remind me of Portland Or scene. Monday night at 6:30 and no one in the place! At first it was to quiet but when the kitchen turned the music up it really made the place. Go Messenger I hope you make it big! We will be back.

Decent pizza. No service & needs better seating. No fountain drinks if your into that sort of thing. Only all natural canned sodas, beer and water.

I give this place five stars, because it is a perfect five for what it aims to provide its customers. A worthy slice (or pie), a good brew, great salad bar, and a cozy/laid back ambience. I try to make a stop every time I come back home. Living in CA for the past 6 years--places like this are a lot more prominant. I am happy to see people going out on a limb, and offering something that hasn't been offered in Nampa (atleast in the past 25 years)! So heres the run down..... Casual -paper plates kinda place with hodgepodge silverware Pizza- You can get it by the slice, which is pretty tasty, although not as fresh. A full pie is the way to go--AMAZING, great taste! Sald Bar- Homemade dressing, that is to die for! Drinks- An array of brews, which you are sure to find something interesting to sip on!

This place still has the best pizza in Nampa, but the service really has to improve to get me to come back. If you get pizza here, get take out for sure. When you order pizza, they give you a card with a picture on it (much like flying pie gives you a playing card), but unlike flying pie, they don't actually seek out your card. The flippant hipster "server", stands in one spot of the dining room and calls out the name of your pizza, not the name on your card. In a busy dining room (And I like actually talking with my wife), who's gonna notice that? So the guy assumed we left, because people will pay 20 bucks for a pie and just leave, right. When he was serving people who came after us, we asked about the pizza. "I called out for a toga party pizza, but nobody answered." He returned with a now lukewarm pizza. I have never complained to a restaurant in person before. This was the first time I did. They offered us a free drink, but we were finished. Plus, getting in line to get a fresh beer is ok for a bar, but not for a restaurant.
