Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

Fast-food restaurants like Pizza Hut are not recommended to dine-in if you are diagnosed with high blood pressure. High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for High Cholesterol

Keep your pizza intake to one slice to avoid high cholesterol intake while you dine at Pizza Hut. Skip Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice as it contains a high amount of fat and the sodium levels are also very high. Avoid the desserts section completely to limit the fat and sugar intake. I would probably give it 3.5 stars. We always stop in Boise for lunch or dinner when driving from Wyoming to Washington to visit my in-laws. You really can't judge a book by it's cover. Call me a snob, but when my husband pulled up to this place, I was like "really?!" With the cheesy name, tacky signage and location I was not expecting much and really wasn't looking forward to dinner much at all. He said PizzalChik appeared on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives, so that made me loosen up a bit. The layout was a bit confusing at first and we actually missed the menu that listed the daily specialty pizzas, so we ended up each ordering a custom pie. I had Italian sausage, artichoke, basil, sundried tomatoes and feta. Really great pie, although the artichokes weren't tender and yummy and had to be picked off. Hubby had smoked salmon on his and really liked it but he was picking off artichokes too. Maybe they need to prep them better if they are fresh? I liked the laid back feel of the place, but I have to say that the cleanliness standards of PizzalChik are quite poor. It really needs a thorough deep-clean. It wasn't very appetizing to stare at the back of a grimey fish tank, yuck. You can sure tell that it's a local hang out, there were quite a few tables of people just sitting and drinking beers and not eating. It would be nice to give them a bigger bar space for those people that are just drinking, thus giving people actually there to eat a table to do so. Can get kind of loud, but if you are going there expecting that - no problem. Live music was fun. Service was adequate and pizzas came out without waiting too long.

Great, comfortable place for me to take friends when I'm in Boise. The restaurant has plenty of seating but still feels cozy. The pizza and salads are well above average, but I have yet to try the chicken. If you go there, have them make you one with their smoked salmon.

Sorry. Really, I truly am. I really tried to muster up something positive to say for this totally far out place & the dinner experience we had. I suggest this spot based on my confidence in Mr. Fieri. Oh how you let me down! The staff does put forth a concerted effort but the lack of harmony & orchestration is awkward! A party of 10 of us were baffled & confused by the seating, variety of (dirty) menus, how to order- walk up but then they serve you- either food, pizza or beer, and the grubby interior. Just bizarre. Apparently locals dig it. Good for you. The pizza was decent but out of the 3 types we tried all of them required far more baking as they were too doughy. The roasted chicken was apparently on a major cleanse/diet prior to its demise bcz it barely had any meat on it & the chicken salad was a strange concoction of veggies & fruit wedges like watermelon. The tap beer choices are excellent. 3 seat bar? The home made jalapeño poppers were interesting & mighty hot! I guess I just don't get it. This place needs a serious scrubbing & a fresh coat of paint.

Good food, friendly staff but needs some updating and a deep cleaning in the guest seating areas.

Great service, amazing pizza and the chicken is great. Have not had the salad but I imagine it's top notch. Decor is laid back and chill.

Pizza was barely fair. Both regular and gluten free crust were bland. Wouldn't go back.

This place lived up to the Diners Drive-Inns and Dives coverage. I had a Salmon Pizza that was awesome. Cool decor, great staff and very good beer selection. Next time in Boise I will visit again.

Coincidentally, I happened to catch a re-run of Triple D on Food Network and since we were heading out to Boise to explore living there, it was a must-stop! We went twice during our visit-- once to get the chicken, and another to try the pizza. Hubby and I split a half roasted garlic chicken and added some rosemary roasters potato wedges. It was probably the best chicken I've ever had! So moist. The taters were perfectly cooked and crisp. A couple of days later we tried the Wild Forest Mist pizza (first time we'd tried Elk --which was in the form of sausage) and it was very good. Didn't try the salads, but hopefully we'll be moving there soon. We will be back. P.S. While it's just as silly-sounding, we still think it should be pronounced "Peezalchik". I mean, c'mon.... pizza isn't pronounced "PIHzah" :-)

Seems a bit pricey....at first, but when you factor in the quality of the food, it comes at a great price. The "Bubble Bread" was worth the visit alone and the pizza was great as well.

What can I say? PizzalChik is probably my favorite restaurant in Boise. Everything is always fresh, unique and oh so delicious. Extra friendly, laid back staff--always some reeeal good vibes in that place and I love all the plants both inside and out. Nothin' but love for PizzalChik!

Filthy. As in crusty and sticky. Being on Food Network does not exempt you from cleanliness standards. Soap dispenser had been taken apart so you were forced to pick it up and pour the soap into your hand. Pizza was average. Appetizer was good but way overpriced. The help was nice but overworked. How about hiring enough people to keep the place clean and keep business moving? Yes, the place has character. But it also has crud. The two are not mutually exclusive. Shut it down, clean it up, and stop resting on your laurels.

The salad is in a word -- unreal. Super super good, and amazing variety of all sorts of micro salads within your single dish of salad. You really realyl should have the salad. The pizza was quite good, but nothing something that blew me away, just nice and good. The environment really could use a user experience/ergonomics review, because it is an awkward place to order, get drinks and eat. We came in and it was pretty crowded, so I stood in a long line to order at a counter and then had to fight my way back through the same line and elbow aside some folks at a bar to get my drinks. no tray was provided, so I had to go back a couple of times to get all the drinks for my crew. The tables outside were cute and shabby chic thrown together and it was enjoyable, but they were all so clustered together, I'm sure because they need to fit a lot of people in at times, but it was a little agonizing to my mind that wanted some easy pathways through to my table.

Awesome. Friendly from the moment we walked in. The owner took the time to explain the whole menu to us and another few ladies that had walked in before us to make sure we knew what we wanted. My mother and I ordered the Mediterranean Madness pizza with kalamata olives on half, half a garlic roasted chicken with rosemary roasted potato wedges, and they also have beer on tap (score)! The food came out fairly quickly, but they had accidentally put olives on the whole pizza! No big deal, right? They were super apologetic, and gave us FREE, fresh homemade key lime cheesecake with what seemed like an almond crust. It was...amazing. Everything we ordered tasted delicious. The pizza crust was crisp, the sauce was perfect and tangy, and the artichokes, which they prepare themselves (he explained the process to me) were delicious on the pizza. The chicken was garlicky and the potatoes came with a fry sauce that tasted like it had a hint of horseradish. I can't recommend them enough for their superior food and service.

Unfortunately, my expectations were much higher than reality. The younger gentleman and the older woman were great. Very friendly and helpful. We ordered jalapeño poppers, blackened chicken bites, bucket of ceasar salad and two orders of the bubble bread for appetizers. The bubble bread was good but we realized that each order was a SINGLE piece of bread cut into 3 strips. For $6, that is crazy. The ceasar was not good either. Way to much mayonnaise and no flavors at all...other than mayonnaise. The jalapeño poppers wer crazy spicy because they remove NO seeds. Prepare for fully loaded and lips burning. Lastly, the blackened chicken was 6 little pieces of terrible tasting, paprika smothered chicken. Taste like a powder not a flavorful blackening with butter etc. After that came the pizza. This is the only reason it is not a 1 star. Pizza was actually pretty good. Meats were freshly made and very tasty. In closing, go for the pizza but nothing else.

I don't know which was more delicious. The personalities of the men behind the counter, the owner and his son, or the food. Let's call it a delightful draw on our first visit to Pizzalchik. We loved the yummy eats and warm greeting and fun meets funky ambiance. But for a Boise friend who took us in here we would have missed it altogether. We're glad to have found Pizzalchick. Based on the mixed bag of reviews we entered as skeptics. We exited as fans. We will happily return. THE VIBE I can see why some folks might be confused on first entry without the guidance of a long time Pizzalchick fan such as our Realtor friend who brought us here. It is eclectic for decor and seating arrangement and you need to know the path to the order counter. But settled into all that, it is just right. Offering up a comment here as counterpoint to some other reviews that mentioned problems with cleanliness at the restaurant, Imy hubby and I are pretty sensitive to that measure ourselves and we thought the place looked darned spiffy! Loved that the "mascot" on the order counter holding the 'soup of the day' option sign was dressed just like the owner (who is also a rock band drummer) in tie-dye tee and skullcap. To pass the time while we chatted about Boise we looked at the faces on the big poster of music legends past and present and pointed out Jim Morrison, David Crosby, Janis Joplin...to our much younger friend who still knew the music. Quality endures! THE DRILL Come to the counter for a menu or to read the menu board overhead. You will be greeted and asked if it is your first visit in and if so you'll learn that everything is scratch made in this kitchen. Once ordered, take a seat anywhere in the restaurant and food is delivered to you when it is ready. THE FOOD & VALUE, The menu includes options from in house roasted chicken to pizza to soup to salads to dessert. (The latter included two cheesecakes on our visit. I'm still kicking myself for not taking a slice to go.) The menu would make omnivores and vegetarians both happy. Several gluten free items too. Our friend had the house salad, which is unlike anything I've seen and next time this will be on my "to order" line up. It included greens topped with beets, rice noodle salad and a host of other items. She said it was delicious. I believe her. My hubby and I shared a wild mushroom pizza. The soft yet chewy crust made both of us happy and he's a Brooklyn native who is often critical of pizza crust. (I think it is part of the Brooklyn DNA.) The sauce was flavorful, the toppings were just enough to be generous but not to much to be overwhelming and it easily fed two or even three. Bill for three well fed people was about $25 and we had some of the pizza left to take away. Great value. THE FUNNY THING As we waited on our order two couples of about my husband's and my age arrived and they looked as buttoned up as we do. It was their first time in and I could glean from the expression on their faces that they were thinking "Oh oh..." They talked to each other soft voices and "what do you think..." mode as they looked at the menu. Then the pizza arrived at our table. One husband said to one wife "THAT looks good. I wonder what that is." I replied it was the wild mushroom pizza. The owner, a delightfully funny guy, said to this perplexed foursome, "Pay no attention to the trio at that table. I just set them near the counter to model the food." Ta dum. Everyone laughed. The foursome ordered and you could see they were set now to be happy too. THE PS The Food Network show Diners Drive-ins and Dives apparently made a visit to Pizzalchik some time ago. I find the bearded ding-dong who hosts DDD particularly annoying and sometimes to cut off my nose to spite my face, I will not go to a place if I've heard he has pitched it. I'm glad I didn't liet that "Anti DDD" bias get in the way of going to PizzalChik. THIS N THAT 1) LOCATION: This in in a tiny strip mall. Hard to see if you don't know it's there. Look for the Jimmy John's on the corner which is easy to spot. 2) PARKING: Small lot with several parking spaces. 3) ACCESSIBILITY: Accessible parking in lot. Level in and throughout. Most seating is standard height tables and chairs.

We saw this place on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, and while visiting friends in Boise and made SURE to go there! We were NOT disappointed! Wow...the spring green salad has SO many surprises in it, it's almost sensory overload...in a GOOD way :-} Great meeting Brad (the owner) and his wonderful family too...they are really fun and down-to-earth! It was our last place to stop before we went back home to San Diego...we only WISH we had a place like this there too! The flavors are too amazing to describe! What a pleasant surprise:-)

We walked in and walked right back out! The front of the building is a mess, you walk in to signs telling you where to go to get help, and it stunk! This was our first and last time to try this place. We do NOT recommend it!

Still my favorite local flare go to place. Feels like cheers here. Pizza is out of this world. You have to try the Smoked salmon and capers pizza. Want variety hit a Wednesday night wandering from 6pm to 8pm. They bring differ types of pizza around to try. Great wine and beer on tap. A MUST VISIT location.

My first time in and I had the look of "so how does this place work?" Do you grab slice or order or what? Well I was quickly greeted and explained. If I wanted to go then they make the pizza made to order. Nice. I got the 10-12 inch pie with mushrooms, spinach and goat cheese. Took it home (I had errands to run) oh and I got their homemade ranch. I heated the pizza up on the stove (recommended by staff and found the video on youtube) Oh yum. Crisp crust and delicious seasoned mushroom. The ranch should be made illegal. The toppings were the right amount and the same goes for the cheese and sauce. It just worked. Nothing was out of balance. Nicely done.

This place is filthy!! The kitchen is open and you can see right away that cleanliness isn't very important to this restaurant. I even ordered food but was disappointed with the quality of the pizza. It's owned and operated by a local family and has a great "neighborhood" vibe but if they keep the areas that we can see that dirty I can't imagine what the hidden areas look like.

Food is great, but the dining experience is aweful and disorganized. Go to one counter to order food and drinks, and then have to belly up between loud and happy, happy-hour regulars to get your drinks. Oh, did i mention that we waited 15-20 min and then asked two different servers when our drinks were coming, only to find out from a fellow customer that they serve drinks in between Cliff and Norm. In the future, I will order for delivery only, not worth it to dine in.

Quirky little joint. The pizza earns it three stars. The salad has too much going on and too expensive. Just wanted some greens and Ranch. The owner playing some blues is a nice touch. The poppers were kicken hot.. Yum yum. The service is weird but works. The bartender, which was probably the owners mom, was slow and short. Terrible multitasker for a Friday night. We had to hunt down the desert we paid for in advance as well. All and all just Ok, but will try it again when the patio opens.

In spite of the owner assuring us that his restaurant had been voted one of the top ten pizza joints in the country, we found the pizza to be rather ordinary. The crust was particularly disappointing. The physical layout of the restaurant is quite confusing to the newcomer. The three of us decided that it's not worth a repeat visit.

My wife and I went here with her parents when they came to visit. The experience was great. The father and son that were working when we were there were very helpful and friendly. We had a hole chicken salad and a pizza and everything was great. I'm a little picky when it comes to food so the salad was a little weird to me but for the most part it was good. Chicken was perfectly cooked and tasted great. And the pizza was tasty. The only thing I was a little upset about was that they didn't recycle their glass bottles that their sodas come in. :(

Went here after much hype from friends and reading many reviews on the net. I am a chef so I am admittedly hard to please, but keeping that in mind I found the food to be mediocre. Ordered to-go; Garlic-Shrooms Roast Chicken, Bucket of Tossed Salad and Bucket of Rosemary Roasted Reds. The chicken was dry and tasteless, I have had better from Albertson's Deli. The Tossed Salad was mixed greens topped with mounds of various "dressed" salads, ranging in flavors from Asian to Italian. There is really no sense offering dressing, the salad was dripping in different dressings. This really put a kink in my idea for us to eat half tonight and save some for tomorrow. The potatoes did not have a hint of rosemary and were dry and again, rather bland. I really, really wanted to like this little establishment. I am an avid "locavore" and love finding little chef driven restaurants. The patio seemed nice enough to sit and have a glass of wine whilst listening to some music.

AWESOME! Completely exceeded my expectations. Pizza was great. Fantastic jalapeno poppers. Nice simple selection of beers and wine. Very odd set up... You walk in... Then... Where do you go? No one really explained that we had to walk allll the way around to order. Live music that night was fantastic. I can't wait to get back and try a special.

"Smudged windows" is the best complaint someone could come up with?!? REALLY??? Ok... so, the awkward set-up totally sucks. And prices are pretty high for Boise. But when you shove a piece of the salmon pizza in your face, a smudged window and lack-luster customer service seems irrelevant. I get it, their servers are snotty and definitely have an air of superiority which can totally be off-putting, but I don't sit at a table and chat with them while I eat. They just make the ridiculous good food and bring it to my table. Then they walk away and think highly of themselves somewhere else and I enjoy calorie-after-calorie of amazing. So... it's all a wash, I guess?

As seen on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives ( youtu.be/xfBFwVztHfs ), what I can say is that they do make an interesting pizza, and provide some personality to the standard pizza place. On my visit here I had the Wild Forest Mist Pizza ($15.39) recommended to me. It definitely sounded interesting, topped with elk sausage, wild mushrooms, and red peppers. I also elected for the spicy option. First bite impression: holy overpowering mushroom!!! with a slightly grainy-like textured and very elky sausage after-bite to go with it. How that was a local favorite, and award winner, I just don't understand. Then again, I'm not a local. It did make me sad though, because I could tell this place was special, and perhaps had I gone with a different choice, things could've been better. But alas, I didn't, and just didn't get much enjoyment out of the pizza. I also ordered some Jalapeño Poppers ($1.25/ea), as I'm a huge lover of Jalapeño Poppers, but these fell short. The cheese inside was something of a medium cheddar, and they were completely unseeded. I was warned that they were hot (spicy), but I'm fine with spicy so I took no care, it was then that I realized I had bit don on a good bunch of seeds and all the membranes, and my eyes started to tear up. The taste was off too as the cheese in it was weird, and it just also wasn't enjoyable. Lastly, the only thing that I seemed to choose right, the bubble bread ($2). I was told it was a staff favorite, and one bite into it, I could see why. YUUUUM. They're basically a large slice of bread with a layer of cream cheese spread on it, and a layer of cheese on top of that, and then put in the oven just long enough to melt the cheeses and warm up the bread. Hands down the best thing I had on my trip here.

You can't beat homemade food, made with lots of love! You'll quickly fall in love with the crew and feel a part of the family! Pro Tip: Check out the Wandering Wednesdays! Great way to stuff your face on delicious pizza.

BEST pizza in Boise! I have a gluten allergy and Pizzalchik makes the best gluten free pizza I have ever tasted. It is clearly homemade and I appreciate them making an effort to serve us gluten free people something so delicious. If you like thin crusts with minimal marinara sauce and lots of fresh toppings, this is the place. I recommend the artichoke hearts, which are prepared and marinated in house. Yum!

This place is the real deal, a truly local, unique place with lots of character and creative, carefully prepared, delicious food. The staff is warm and personable, and they keep things interesting with live music days, pizza flights, and specials like a spicy prawn salad that you would never expect to find if you were just driving by. I think of PizzalChik as the antidote to monotonous chain restaurants.

I'd give it 3.5 if i could but 4 seems okay if you go on a not so busy night like i did. I like the place. I'm not one to care about decor and whatnot as long as the food is okay. I thought the pizza was small-ish but good and my mom's salad was good but not as flavorful as she would like. The fact that they have fresh jalapeños, not just pickled, and pineapple, and probably everything else, makes them good in my book. I think adding $1.10 worth of fresh spices to my pizza would be overload. Maybe charge less for that so I could get some and not feel like I'm getting gyped. I'm out of the loop for the spice market these days so maybe I'm wrong. Service style is not terrible but I can definitely see how it could be during busy times. I do like the outside area though. We didn't get waited on at all except when they brought food so if they still run that way during busy hours, everyone wanting something having to go inside would get annoying. Hopefully they don't do that. Everyone was nice so I don't know about staff having a superiority complex. Maybe they get flustered under pressure? Anyways, good place but maybe not the best pizza in town. Definitely not the worst I've had by a long shot

The Bad: The chicken fettuccine was bland, and the chicken was overcooked and tough. The garlic bread came with butter and cheese on it that were not quite melted, and could have cooked a litttle longer. The pulled pork sandwich was decent, but not spectacular, and the steelhead salmon was charred black on the skin side and again needed seasoning. Also, they lost their liquor license so we couldn't order beer. When the owner came over we told him our complaints, and he proceeded to argue with us about how there are restaurants that only serve charred meat because that's how people like it. He said "have you ever had a steak cooked Chicago Style? It's charred black on the outsides and tender on the inside." He also said "The skin side of the fish is always charred." Yeah buddy, whatever! Then I told him that my side ceasar was difficult to eat because the pieces of lettuce were too big (about 8" long and 2" thick,) served on a tea saucer (piled to overflowing) and they don't offer you a knife to cut it. He said "I'm an old school chef and that's how a ceasar is supposed to be." I said "but I didn't have a knife to cut it." And he said "Yeah, you just chop it up with your fork." That still doesn't solve the problem of the plate being way too tiny and the salad was all over the table and I looked like a fool ripping up my salad with my hands so I could eat it. Plus, it was messy and they don't have napkins on the table. The chef apologized and offered us a free dessert, which we declined. The Good: The owner is very friendly, and the vibe of the place is cool and comfortable with a 70's vibe. They have a nice saltwater fish tank, which my son loved. The owner even let him feed the fish. The staff were friendly and hip, and were happy to offer suggestions about what to order. (which ended up being terrible) The owner checked on us during our meal to see how we were doing. The beets on the salad were delicious, and the cheesecakes are phenomenal!

Loving the intense fresh favors and aroma! Everything down to serving on mesh so it does not get soggy the few minutes a pizza will last before you. Salmon pizza and Med. pizza jammed with the 60's rock music, and the singing staff belting out oldies favorites!

We order carry out consisting of pizzas and the $11 tossed green salad. This conglomeration that Pizzalchik calls a tossed green salad is repulsive. I am not even sure what was in it, but I did recognize macaroni and rice thread noodles. Any way, it was sick looking and definitely not a green salad. I took the uneaten mess back the next day to get my money back and was met with such attitude and refusal for a full refund. The young man behind the counter was full of such righteous attitude and defense of the green salad, telling me he might be able to give me back a few dollars, but not the full $11. I was dumbfounded. He even said I didn't bring back the side cup of blue cheese dressing so how could I expect a full refund. I argued $9 out of him, but will be writing a letter to the owner complaining about the customer service that I received. The customer is always right, especially when served a plate of crappy expensive salad. Pizza was delicious though, but can't say it's enough to bring me back after they way the employee treAted me.

We went here for dinner on Thursday night (10/17/2013) and the owner was drinking beer and cheering loudly at a hockey game on TV. He even had some well chosen curse words when the game was not going the way he wanted. We'd been there before during one of the Wandering Wednesdays a few years ago and had enjoyed it so we tried to look beyond the noise. I had a quarter chicken and a "tossed salad" and was surprised when the salad consisted of about five scoops of different, distinctly flavored mini-salads (pasta, Asian noodle, sauced veggies, etc.) on top of some greens. I walked to the counter, hoping to see if I could just get some plain greens to go with the blue cheese dressing the salad came with, and the owner shot me down, saying that the salad was "full of interesting bits" (or something condescending like that) and that "that's our tossed salad; that's what we do here." How's that for customer service? The chicken was good but my husband's pizza was greasy, the place was sticky, the setup was awkward, and with the service we received and the loud cheering from the owner, our choice was easy: we won't be coming back to Pizzalchik.

On a recent trip to Boise I visited PizzalChik. After listening to a very informative description of the pizzas by the owner to the party in front of me in line I ordered a Wild Forest Mist pie because I wanted to experience the elk, and a Tossed Greens salad. Apparently the elk sausage comes in both mild and spicy. Being a fan of spicy I did not hesitate to order the spicy version. However now having experience the pie, I would probably order the mild next time - not because it was too hot but because the elk has such a subtle flavor that the spice totally overpowered the meat. The wild mushrooms had a very pronounced flavor which I enjoyed, but I was wishing I had not ordered the spicy sausage. Overall it was a very tasty pie that I ate all but 2 pieces of myself. The Tossed Greens salad, in a word - WOW! I had not expected what I was about to experience when I ordered it. A beautifully crafted piece of artwork with veggies, noodles and fruits with a different taste to be had in almost every bite. I was very very happy with what sounded like a run-of-the-mill salad from its description on the menu. Apparently, the salads can very with their ingredients because the pictures I have seen do not always represent what I received. It was a very delicious salad.

We were there on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Most of the tables on the patio had dirty dishes on them (no customers around). I couldn't find a high chair for my son, or an employee to ask. Finally spotted an unmarked guy clearing a table, so I asked him for help. We got seated and someone brought me a menu a few minutes later. A few minutes after that, I was told I needed to order inside. Inside, I stood at the counter holding my squirmy boy for quite a few minutes before someone came to take my order. The guy didn't seem like he knew how to use the computer - it took him forever to ring up one personal pizza and one soda. We returned to our table outside and waited 25 minutes for the pizza to show up. I finally had to go inside and ask about it. Everyone who ordered after I did got their food first and were gone before I'd taken one bite. There was no explanation and no apology from the staff. The pizza was good but small, and I left still hungry. They get two stars for giving me a Mexican coke in a glass bottle with a lime wedge.

Pizza was okay, I've had much better. Potato wedges were WAY over sold, I make better ones at home. Dishes were mismatched and broken/chipped. Table and chairs were wobbly but somewhat clean. The decor was shabby but not chic. The staff was friendly but that didn't make up for the food. We bought two pizzas and potato wedges for our family of 6 and everyone was still hungry afterward. Would not recommend this to a friend.

Place keeps getting crazier and more annoying every time. So, the high priced, novelty pizza is not worth the hassle most often, especially since there are good, down-to-earth alternatives that are easier on my budget. But that is not the reason for the down-grade. Biggest disappointment: the chicken - what is with the hype? How is it different from Sam's club rotisserie? Well, price for one. :) Anyway, having recently tried the much-hyped, sub par chicken, and given that the place builds its rep on three items, not just one, I feel that overall, they are at a comfortable three star in my book.

Went here due to a tip from an out of state acquaintance who had seen it on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. I, certainly, was not disappointed. I entered to find this little hot spot hopping with activity. The owner was standing at the beverage counter talking about wine as he poured some for a group of on looking patrons. Pizza skins were being tossed, dishes delivered, and music playing. Oh...and the place was packed! They even have a sort of overflow seating area (it's an enclosed tent with heaters) and it was full of people! We made our way to the counter as we inhaled the heady scent of fresh basil and baking pizzas. We went for their Mediterranean Madness which consisted of artichokes, feta, sun dried tomatoes, and kalamata olives--and then the whole thing was covered with fresh chopped basil. It was madness! Mad delicious, anyway! And, hands down some of the best pizza sauce I've had the pleasure of consuming. We also shared a Caesar salad that was fresh, crispy, and the very embodiment of what a Caesar salad should be. Everything was fresh, everything was delicious--and the owner and staff couldn't have been more charming. Five star fantastic!

I have resisted writing a review of Pizzalchik because I have such a complicated relationship to the place. In the end, I find that it is my duty to report the truth about how this place makes me feel awkward. If you can tolerate the oddness, then you will certainly enjoy their excellent home made creations. When I first went there maybe 5 years ago, they had just opened and my mind was blown by their tongue expanding vegetative mixtures known as "salads". With that first bucket of zal... I knew the '90's era of smoothies and wraps was over. New food empires would be built on the backs of rotisserie chicken and raw veggies. But wait! This ain't no rotating bird apparatus joint. I believe the chicken is cooked in a hotter than hell brick oven made for pizzas. This is strange. Why doesn't the chicken dry out? There must be a mega-brining process, and maybe they cook the chickens when the ovens are just heating up. Still, just the thought of that hot oven sucks the juices out of my mouth and the chicken I am chewing becomes sawdust. It's psychological, I know. And honestly, the regular flavor chicken is nothing special. The garlic flavors are better. But I still wonder if it is worth the $ compared to what you can get at a grocery store, precooked. Or heck, just do this yourself. Brining is the key. And then there is the Pizza... the first part of the name. Odd that the priority of the brand is on the pizza when it is not really that great. I know, you can't put emphasis on the salad since our species is geared to crave simple carbs in refined starches, salt and fatty cheese. So Pizza... it is. The dough is not that great. The crust is thin which I like, but I feel like I am eating a saltine. The bubble bread is pretty good. Loots of cheesy grease on those little strips of focaccia. I have nothing good to say about the sauce. I know my pizza and this is high end blandness. There are nice brews and vintages as well as killer desserts. There are specials that go beyond the brand, but I have never had them. Why? Well now the plot turns into the twilight zone side of Pizzalchik. When I was there the other day they weren't ready to start serving their specials until 6:30 at the earliest. Say what? On a Friday night? What kind of slacker operation is this? Everyone seems to be working hard. Hmmm... This is where I start to feel like I am from the normal rational version of reality and the people who own and work at this restaurant are from an alternate universe where the normal laws of vendor/customer interactions do not apply. There have been other occasions where the bill was really high and when we asked to see a receipt, none could be produced. We have had discussions about what their advertised prices are and we have been told emphatically that their prices were never $X. And then we would pull out a printed menu that we had ordered with over the phone where sure enough the price was $X, any acknowledgment? nothing. Not even a, "Sorry about that, yeah I guess the $4/gal cost of diesel is really sticking it to all of us, eh? Hey let me throw in an extra side because we really appreciate your business." No nothing like that at all. In any case, it looks like they have an upgraded POS system, so I always get a receipt now and check it. Service? This is a self-serve deal. But sill, I have to say, a little help would be nice. I do tip and expect something in return as part of the experience. When I am eating your delicious salad and you bring out the chicken and I ask you for a knife to cut the chicken, don't say "oh yeah the knives are over by the counter where you ordered." and then walk away. This would never happen at the Brick Oven Bistro. The "Beanery" staff would be tripping over themselves to bring you the finest cutlery in the house. Not so at P-chick. The whole flow of the place is anti-customer. A tiny counter to pick up your drinks in between people sitting at the bar. The waters we ordered are not there. Mayhem getting your drink. The restaurant is designed for the people cooking the food not for your experience as a dining enthusiast. I can't believe I am finally writing this review. It makes me crazy to even think about this place there is so much wrong about the vibe. I never wanted to go off on a local guy trying to dish up some righteous roots and leaves. This is such a shame, because I like the food and I crave good salad. I just can't tolerate the wacko interactions with people operating this restaurant.

Visiting from out of town and thought we should try this place. We saw it Diners,Drive-ins and Dives. Anyway, yes it was quite expensive. I got a chicken salad and it was the most unusual salad I have ever eaten. If you are expecting lettuce with tomatoes or just chicken salad on a lettuce leaf, dont order it. It was very complex. Like nothing I ever tasted. I would say it was good though. We also ordered a pizza with locally grown mushrooms (at least thats what the guy said to us behind the counter. On the plus side, the outdoor seating is beautiful. It was a beautiful day so it made for a great lunch. I would visit here again.

Its everything Guy promised on DDD. Foosball table on the patio, funky decor, warm & helpful staff, and original woodstock tickets! I ordered a Spicy Elk Pizza with mushrooms and Rainbows. The mushrooms were a treat unto themselves. They had a HUGE amount of flavor. My server told me that they were made from 5 different mushrooms and that they were sauteed in wine and a whole list of spices. They were delicious! Rainbow is there name for a combination of marinated peppers. Added some great texture and flavor to the pizza. The crust of the pizza was how I like it. Thin, yet chewy. I could see (and taste some herbs - not sure what). The pie was cooked perfectly. The elk sausage (?) was yummy. It was thinly sliced (one large piece on each slice of the 10" pie). Each piece was big enough that I got a taste in each bite. To those reviewers that don't understand why DDD visited this little gem, you obviously don't understand Guy. This restaurant represents everything guy preaches in his own restaurants and on his cooking show - big bold flavors done with an attitude. I'm in Boise for 2 more days and one of those days is going to be a trip back to get the chicken this time.

Pretty good pizza. You can tell they use fresh ingredients with every bite you take. Many of the chain pizzas have a flavor profile that gets muddled together, but these pizza ingredients each shine on their own and sing in unison. I ordered a pizza to go and was worried it would lose it's stone oven baked crispness on the drive back to the hotel. Thankfully they place a mesh liner under the pizza to retain the crispiness. Definitely worth checking out.

Yeah I just cant figure out why this was on diner and dives. Its just an average run of the mill different than the others pizza joint. The food was ok. Nothing to write home about. Nothing to jump on the tables saying "damn Im glad I watched that TV show and showed up here". I can think of 10 pizza joints better in Portland. But for Boise I guess this is exotic. I wont drive outta my way for this considering I live 440 miles out of the way. But I gave it two stars for the drive and great weather. Go Pizzalchick !!! -B

I just want to know why in the hell Diners Drive Ins and Dives came here? This place is ridiculous. My salad was a menagerie of about a dozen different ingredients that didn't belong on there to begin with. After trying to dissect the salad and taking a few bites that I almost couldn't keep down, I gave up. Two pizzas for two people, two salads and one pop was around $45... that's insane...and not nearly $45 good. The pizza was't bad at all, I'll give them that much. But for $45 I could have gotten huge Flying Pie pizzas which would have been much better.

First of all, this place is all about Peace & Love. The quality of the food and the awesome people that work there is truly outstanding. I always feel incredibly welcome when I walk through the door. The pizza itself is great. You'd think it would be kinda like a regular brick oven pizza, but what sets these guys apart from the rest is the incredibly fresh ingredients and toppings. I normally don't even notice toppings on a pizza. I just eat it without really thinking twice. But when I had the "Effing Good Pie" the first thing I tasted was the delicious bacon. And this wasn't crappy little bacon bits that the chain restaurants put on their pies, this was actually top quality bacon hand chopped and put on my pizza. That alone surprised the hell out of me. The rest of the toppings and ingredients just started bursting with flavor, and then I began to realize that each and every single aspect of this pizza has been handcrafted by a true professional. I washed it all down with a Henry Weinhardt's Root Beer (in the old fashioned glass bottle) and never felt more satisfied in all my life. I've since returned to Pizzalchik on numerous occasions. YOU MUST try the "bucket of salad". I could eat one of these things myself, not because of the lack of size, but rather the deliciousness of all the individual components of this masterpiece. It has like 12 mini-salads in one and they all taste amazing. Do yourself a favor and buy a couple orders of the Bubble Bread too. It blew me away. It's just one piece of toasted bread, cut in half, with cheese on top. But there's prosciutto underneath the cheese and a plethora of tasty herbs and oils. It is to-die-for. It feels like one of those things you could eat *everyday*. I just moved to Boise and will continue to go here regularly. Also, when my friends and family come in to town, this is definitely on our list of places to bring them. THANKS SO MUCH!!

oh Pizzalchick. Have to admit that we drove passed a few times when we first came to town laughing at such an awful name. Then visited with some friends after a day of hot springing. I was impressed with the salad and that they had gluten free pizza, but not the price. Wife's gluten free is much better, but she's not always willing to make it. We were once brought out an extra salad and the owner came out looking for where the salad was dropped off at. He informed us that they were just going to give us a $9 salad b/c they messed up, but made us feel guilty about it. Fred Meyer's rotisserie chicken's taste better and are cooked fresh every day for 1/2 the price. For a hippy, peace and love kind of a place, where is the love? Listen to what most are saying... drop the price a couple bucks and it's all good.

What a great place to eat, if you are a fan of music and pizza, it doesn't get any better than this. The pizza is the best in town, using craetive and fresh ingredients. Oh, and don't forget the chesscake, it is homemade and it is GREAT! The Owner Brad and his staff are friendly and helpful and work hard to make your dining experience pleasant . I wanted to like Pizzalchik, but I couldn't get past the clusterf**k at the counter. Confusing menu; order taker didn't make me comfortable. Ordered what I thought was a draft beer, she reached for a bottle. Salads are creative, yet small and expensive. Pizza was pretty good. Ambience is lacking. Sorry Pizzalchik.

The food is fantastic. The salads are unique but still taste good, the pizza is the best we've had in the area and the chicken, though not much flavor, is melt-in-mouth moist. The ambiance and seating can use some work and the name sucks. But I'll go again.

We ate at Pizzalchik a couple of nights ago for the first time. The tab was $40 for our salads, individual pizzas and sodas...definite sticker shock. The pizza was fine, but not as good as, say, Proto's. The salads were just too weird. So many different types of marinated salads, each with their own flavor of dressing or sauce, lumped on top of a lettuce mix, and with salad dressing on top of all. It looked and smelled like it was ready for the garbage disposer. The owner is really enthusiastic about his products and, clearly, about classic rock. but customer convenience goes by the wayside. A $40 tab is pretty high for a place where you have to hop up during a meal to serve yourself. We might go back sometime, but not soon.

I can appreciate a place like Pizzalchik. The menu is very focused. They also grow their own herbs used in the food and bake their own bread. They tell you this as soon as you walk in the door. They'll also let you know that they are family owned and operated. They do seem very happy with themselves. Perhaps a bit too impressed with themselves. It was kind of like eating that that weird friend's house that thinks he's a gourmet chef. They seem very concerned about what you think about your food and not too concerned about anything else. Luckily the chicken is fantastic. The salad was pretty good and original. My wife had the Caesar salad and loved it. The pizza was pretty average.

  • Jules D.

The salads and chicken are excellent if you are someone who has a high appreciation for top quality ingredients and is open to eating out of the ordinary. However, as much as we like the chicken and salads, we find the pizza only so-so, so we rarely order it. And yes, the employees are a little odd, but usually quite friendly. We would eat here more often if it were cheaper, but it's not, so it's become a treat we just enjoy on occasion.

If everyone at the Woodstock Festival decided to go to lunch after the concert, they would have gone to Pizzalchick!

  • Collin K.

Pizza was barely fair. Both regular and gluten free crust were bland. Wouldn't go back.

I would visit here again.

oh Pizzalchick.

We love it! Wandering Wednesday is cool. Great beer selection. Cool salad with all the extras. Great creativity and a great atmosphere.

Because I saw this place on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives I made note to try it on our way through Boise while on vacation. We tried the pizza with the spicy elk meat. It was good. The outdoor atmosphere was nice - good to see a business doing well. I was expecting so much more based on all the hype, but when you get right down to it the pizza was just o.k. - to me.

One of my favorite patios in Boise in the summer. They often have live music. And the food is incredible.
