Delicious, unique food with a lot of flavor, and very nice people. I'd like to give it 5 stars because they seem like good people and I love the concept, but nearly $20 for a plate of food served on a picnic table is a bit steep. I think if they dropped their prices just a bit they'd probably have quite a bit more repeat business and, even though there would be slightly less profit per plate, there would be more profit from local people coming back because they felt like the meal, price, and overall experience were worth it.

On our way to get gas, we spotted the sign that lead us to the most pleasant lunch experience that we have had in a long time! A perfect day to sit at a shaded picnic table and enjoy fresh organic food. We will make this our lunch stop every time we come through Iowa!

Ok If I could give LT Organic Farm Restaurant 10 stars I would!! Seriously...the environment and food and the kind loving service is the best ever. We saw a sign for Organic Farm Restaurant on the highway so we pulled off and made the short 1mile trek to this idyllic little farm. We were warmly greeted when we arrived by the lovely chef . We sat outside at the covered picnic tables after having played with the adorable chickens ...the hens coupled w the symphony of the cicadas melted the stresses of the week away. The food was amazingly delicious and you could FEEL the nutritious energy with every bite! If you get a chance .. Come here! This is a center for learning about the healing qualities of food and preventive medicine. We also picked up some beautiful organic lavender and lemongrass beauty products. This gorgeous farm is proof that sometimes heaven really is found here on Mother Earth. :)

I've had this place bookmarked for sometime and I decided today I was going to have an adventure and check it out. I'm so glad I did :) I came in from Hickman and took 6th street all the way, which turned out to be a pretty drive. I arrived around 11:30 and was the only customer there. The family is very warm and inviting. I ordered the drink and meal of the day and Took some time to check out the gift shop, which has cute things from local artists. I chose to sit outside given the beautiful weather. The garden is great with lots of life growing all around. I really love it. The food was yummy! I'm a huge fan of Indian food, but even if you're not, try it anyway you might surprise yourself. The heat was very mild compared to what I've eaten in the past. After my lunch, I checked out the chicks per suggestion of the daughter. Ohh the cuteness! Some people may think it's a bit pricy, almost $20 for a plate of food. This is how I justify it- it's an experience, the food is great and good for you, you get to meet some of your community members or for those who come from out of town- meet new people and support them by coming. As I was finishing up, a family pulled in looking like they had just got off the road. Take my suggestion and check this place out! Enjoy the food, nature, and meeting the family!

The family who run the restaurant are super nice and very welcoming. The food was truly epic! We had a curry chicken with chick peas, rice and beans, falafel, and potato chutney. The menu is set, they just serve one meal a day, but so worth trying something new. The chicken was so tender and juicy. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone!!

This is a no brainer. Go. The most unique road trip food experience ever. Located right off Hwy 80 West of Des Moines. Podunk place BUT with phenomenal flavor. Satisfying meal. Organic. Gluten-free. No menu. You eat what's being served for the day. No thinking. Quick. Get your plate of food and back on the highway you go. Family run. Local gift shop inside. We'll definitely come back. Cash only. Seasonal (closed Nov - Spring) when their garden is done for the winter.

Have never eaten in a place like this. You gotta check it out! It is a family-run restaurant and organic farm. Food is Indian with understanding of the American palate (i.e not too hot). They serve one meal each day and close when the food is gone. We lucked out and were able to get a late lunch (about 3 PM). Had the place to ourselves. Nice conversation with the cook (mom) and the waitress (teenage daughter) both of whom were pleasant and informative. Mom and Dad were health professionals before they began this venture several years ago. THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS! And good for you. Make reservations and go there to eat!

Just had the best meal we've ever had on a road trip. Vegan meal (tho they also serve meat and dairy) was fantastic. Run by a sweet family who were very accommodating of our small children. Can't wait to go back. Note that they are closed from late October to May.

I don't normally like Indian food, but we listened to an Intelligence squared NPR debate podcast about eating faces and concluded that we should eat locally-sourced, organic, naturally raised, grass-fed, hand-massaged, autonomous chickens and then saw the sign to this place on I-80 the next day!!! What a coincidence!!!!!!!!!!!! LT, the man who started the restaurant / farm / institute for preventative medicine / art studio, gave up his life as a doctor in Chicago and moved to Iowa to start a farm... And we ate there. Incredible.

Had a lovely, healthy dinner outside, while our dog ran around nearby. Perfect spot for people seeking real food whilst on the road!

Hello hello. After seeing a sign on the highway, my vegetarian cousin and I decided to stop at this restaurant on our road trip.Upon entering the barn-type building, a polite young boy told us that someone would be with us shortly and to explore the gift shop. After a few minutes of browsing the lovely shop, a lady greeted us and told us what was on the menu for that day: a spread including yogurt salad, steamed spinach, jasmine rise, pinto beans in tomato sauce, chicken masala, and falafel. $17.50 a plate, and worth every penny. The friendly family, the wonderful, homegrown food, and the beautiful Iowan scenery make this place worthy of a 5 star review.

Some of the best food I have ever had. All local and organic. Delicious and filling. The folks there were very nice. Highly recommended!!! It was a little pricey, 17.99 a plate, but the quality made it worth it.

Yelp said American/Caribbean/Mediterranean. Saw 5 stars and organic farm and thought we would give it a try. We were expecting salad but instead found a family owned Indian restaurant in the middle of a CSA farm. I'm not usually big on Indian cuisine but we gave it a try. They have 1 plate on the menu and it changes daily. We got to sample multiple dishes and it was terrific. I was pleasantly surprised. Owned by a doctor who gave up his practice to farm. Been going strong for 14 years. Family operated - very friendly. The CSA also offers cooking and wellness classes. Really cool place but you get what you get - no menu to choose from!

We stumbled across this place in the middle of a drive across the Midwest. After 10 days without vegetables or fresh food, we spotted a sign and stopped in. The family welcomed us warmly and invited us into the art gallery and restaurant. This isn't your typical place with a huge menu. Instead, you pick the meat or veggie special combo plate of the day. This was some of the best food I've ever had in a restaurant. Instead of a big industrial kitchen, it is hand prepared. They gladly cater to allergies. This was the most relaxing and enjoyable eatery I have experienced. Bring cash, as they don't take cards and take some time to enjoy the place.

My boyfriend and I spotted the sign for Lt's while driving west through IA to Omaha for a wedding. We were determined to stop there on our drive back east on I-80. We remembered the approximate location on the highway and were thrilled when we again saw the sign. We were surprised, intrigued, and impressed by our time at Lt Organic Farm Restaurant. The food was so tasty, terrifically fresh, and because we knew we were eating local and healthy, we felt great the whole time we were chewing! We asked questions of the owners' young daughter who waited on us and she was so knowledgeable and well-spoken. I wholeheartedly and unreservedly recommend Lt Organic Farm Restaurant! An oasis in a wasteland of fast food joints and convenience store candy.

Very good and very tasty food. It is nice to eat at a place that takes pride in the produce and meats they cook with. Worth the drive and the best place I have found to eat in the Des Moines area.

The LT organic farm restaurant was like an oasis of culinary goodness along an otherwise desolate I-80 corridor. The food and service was sublime in it's own backyard family way. An unbelievably memorable experience for a van full of hungry vegetarians on their way across the country!

I passed this farm driving by and after speaking with the family decided to join the Co-op. Our food is harvested fresh while we are taking classes to educate us on nutrition and how to cook the vegetables and store them properly as well as how to garden at home if I choose to do so . I have never been to a co-op that took such care in making sure you knew HOW to use the vegetables they were sending you home with. All my questions were answered about health and nutrition and I am looking forward to this years harvest! My first meal I made with the first harvest was delightfully tantalizing with flavor! Garlic, salt, Turnip greens,Olive oil and chicken, yum yum. I am going to make the mint ginger water next. They cooked this meal during our lesson with just the veggies and when I tried it I loved it and I thought I would hate turnip greens! Amazing.
