Came in on a weeknight and sat in the bar. Had the boneless wings and nachos. Our waiter was awesome and the food tasted great. I really loved the wing sauce. I'll stop back by.

I met a friend at the Johnston Okaboji Grill for a drink before seeing a movie at Wynnsong. I've been there before but never written a review. Our server was very nice and very thoughtful. She saw we had asked for green olives and on the next drink we ordered there attached to the rim of the glass by a plastic sword were more olives! We ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer with thoughts of getting dinner but there were so many pickles we couldn't eat anymore. Over all a wonderful experience!

Quick service, nachos were such a great deal and such a big portion. We got our food very quickly and our server was great. Nothing special, but it's very solid pub food. Their happy hour is a great deal (drink and appetizer specials from 3-7 m-f)

quick lunch with friends. Sat in the bar area and seated immediately. We all had the French dip with fries. Typical sports bar food. It was not busy and service seemed slow.

I experienced the Okoboji Grill on a recent trip to Des Moines for a wedding. It was within walking distance of my hotel. They dish up decent, but uninspired, food with an extensive menu of typical bar fare that you've seen dozens of times before. You know the drill, burgers, sandwiches, salads, appetizers and the requisite pasta entree. Numerous televisions in the dining area were tuned to a golf tournament, soccer match and Major League baseball games. On my first visit, I ordered the hot roast beef sandwich. It's served open faced with mashed potatoes and gravy, although the gravy only covered the potatoes. I had to ask for more gravy for my sandwich. This is Midwest comfort food and it hit the spot on a cold and blustery day. I ordered nachos supreme on my next visit, with a mix of beef and chicken fajita meat. They were tasty, but come on, anything with cheese, sour cream and guacamole would be. My complaint was the stingy portion of meat. I had to look closely to even make sure the meat was present it was so minimal. The chicken was diced so small you couldn't even taste it. It would take two or three pieces to cover my small fingernail. Not that's small and I was annoyed. Not bad food, but nothing great either.

Now I've never had warm cardboard before but that is the best I can come up with to describe their food. The severs were nice enough, did feel ignored quite a bit but she was busy. For the price you'd think you'd be getting something with some flavor or at least a decent consistancy. I ordered their tenderloin which was not tender and I doubt it's loin status as well. Also had the Appetizer sampler which included some buffalo chicken bites, some of which were buffalo chicken skins. I've been there two other times and had bad experiences with the food not being good and hopefully wont be drug back there.

Nice bartender (Dave!) Boring food. I had a Buffalo Chicken sandwich that was no better than something you'd get at a fast-food burger joint. Draught beer selection is very limited. When I asked if they had anything dark on tap, the only option was Shiner Bock. (Well, I guess it's darker than Bud Lite). Not awful, but not good.

We came here to have Valentines dinner with friends. This was my first time and probably my last. Our service was terrible! First, she spilled the drinks on us and the table when she brought them out and set them on the table. She didn't even acknowledge it and just walked off. There were five of us. When she brought the appetizers we ordered, she placed one in the center if the table and the other on the far corner of the table only between two people. It was very awkward! She finally brought out entrees. Two of us ordered side salads that we didn't have at that point. We had to ask for them and then she brought them out. I also ordered chicken with my pasta that wasn't mixed in so she just brought me out a side if grilled chicken, cold! My favorite part would have to be that they have fried pickle chips on their menu that were delicious. Although the food wasn't terrible, it wasn't good enough to make up for the terrible service we received!

Stopped here for a quick supper before going to "Gravity" at the nearby Wynnsong Movieplex. "Quick" was the right word, because the service was very fast. Jude was enthusiastic about the Tortilla Soup, and my Fish & Chips was OK -- the chips were a bit above Long John Silver's. It was relatively quiet for a sports bar, but we were also there very early, about 6PM. Our server was friendly and attentive. Overall, OK.

Okoboji has been a mainstay for family dinners. Our kids always can find things they like on the menu. Their favorite is always Boji fries.

My boyfriend and I thought this was a Japanese place until he got a mailer saying it was American food. The mailer included a coupon so we decided to try it out. The place was decently busy but we were seated right away. I got buffalo chicken strips and was really disappointed when the sauce was on the side not on the strips. I had heard their fries were good but I would call them ok. Service was a bit slow that night and we had to ask for our check to even have a chance of getting it in a timely manner. Overall, food was decent but This is not on the top of my list to eat at regularly.

Just gross. Microwaved crap. Ran out of onion rings and vodka... Servers was blah. Try the Burger King across the street and save yourself some disappointment.

Food is decent but way over priced! It's like fast food but with high prices! Don't waste your time.

Step above a sports bar. Don't expect staff to be nice or smile.....that must cost extra or something? Music was good!

Service was friendly but not honest or accurate. They were out of sliced beef so they substituted a thicker cut of beef without asking if we wanted a substitute for our food. We were also the last to be served of our group. The other members of our group enjoyed there pasta but its not that hard to cook mac n cheese. The server mis-wrote an order she wrote ham on her ticket instead of HB so another member of our groups order was cooked wrong and she tried to say they were out of it(hamburger) but then the manager came over and said he would get it corrected. Kids ate free which is great but it took a half hour just to get one appetizer of onion rings and an hour after that to get our food that was half wrong, and to top it off there were several flies, flying around the restaurant and pestering the hell out of customers. Overall a terrible experience, my girlfriend and I have been here twice before and had overall a two star experience both of those trips so I would say this was our last time there!
