We had a great experience at River City Beefstro during our stay at the Holiday Inn. Prompt and friendly service was much appreciated as we rolled in with the kids around 9pm and needed to eat right away and get to bed. This isn't anything wildly fancy or amazing but it's a full-service restaurant and bar that's super convenient and has quality service and good hot food. The restaurant area to the left was closed off when we were there so everyone was seated in the bar area which was clean and still very plush and comfortable but had big TVs turned on to sports so not very romantic or fancy. A bit of a wait for our food but it made us feel better knowing the food was cooked to order, and our server was attentive, friendly and professional. My steak sandwich was perfectly cooked though wish the steak was sliced a little thinner, and my husband loved his chicken sandwich (nothing special but juicy and flavorful). Reasonable prices, plus children eat free if you are a guest of the hotel! Huge perk. And a nice selection for kids too - not just burgers and fries - plus it comes with a drink (soda or milk) and ice cream for dessert (those little cups of vanilla or chocolate you used to get in the school lunch room)! Our server was awesome and even brought cups of ice cream for us two adults. What a treat. Would happily stay and eat here again!

I'm not a big fan of hotel restaurants and pretty much never eat them unless if desperation is involved. I am, however, a big fan of a nightcap in the hotel bar. So for these purposes, Beefstro came through for my bestie and me. Although the bar itself is small, there is plenty of seating at tables and ample table service to tend to your every need. As a side note, Jason the bartender is attentive (but not overly so), sassy, fun and an all around great guy. An hour of banter with him may in fact be worth a visit.

The food here is OK... a little overpriced. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich. You do not get much food for the price. Service is great though, everybody is very nice.

Ordered a steak. For the price, smallest steak I've ever seen. Baked potato was ice cold, so they nuked it in the microwave for me. classy! Weak menu and low quality food.

Holy cow, a club sandwich never took so long in my life. Maybe I shouldn't ordered the fries. The club sandwich was ok, not worth the 45 minute wait. I wouldn't normally complain about waiting if the place was busy but it was less 20% full. Leason learned, there are many other places to eat in downtown Dubuque.
