Meh. Food subpar, seating to crowded and dusty interior. My allergies go nuts when we dine here. I limit visits to a few per year. Better food to be had in Iowa city.

Pretty standard Olive Garden food as any other chain. The review is based on service. We didn't particularly impressed by our server. He was friendly, but forgetful. He got our order wrong, but was able to fix it. Perhaps it might just be an off night for him.

Come to here with two friends. Waited in line for abt 10 min before enter, the service is quite well and was offered some free wine sample. Had Seafood Brodetto and it is quite tasteful. In summary, not bad.

The food itself is fine--but it is standardized darden restaurant co product. The service is what sucks.

It's delicious! Great costumer service! Very clean environment and really good wait times! Love going for my families special events or just no reason! Really recommend this place!

I am always looking for places to eat lunch after 3PM and most restaurants are just not open past 2PM. I have been eating at 3 Samurai for a couple of days straight and I really needed something other than Asian. Driving toward Coralville/Coralridge mall the first thing I saw was Olive Garden. I am never a fan of chain restaurants, but this Olive Garden I can honestly say is better than the other chains I've been to. This Olive Garden is clean, it is newer, and the food is consistent. You really can't beat the value here, I got the Chicken Scampi pasta for $11.25, this included breadsticks, and unlimited salad or soup; I love the zuppa toscana, the sausage is yummy. The service is solid, Josh S was my waiter, he got my drinks right away, my refills, my food, and i placed a carry out order; he waited until i was about done to put the carryout order in so it's warm when I got it at the end of my meal. I got an iced tea for $2.45, 2 chicken scampi for $11.25 each, comes up with two zuppa toscana and breadsticks; after tax the total was $26.45 + $5 well deserved tip. The food is tasty, there's tremendous value here, the place is clean, the service is excellent, and they're open all afternoon. I'm a happy customer.

I feel like it's my duty as an American to chime in only to give this one star.

My friend and I have a saying, "Olive Garden: where good intentions go to die". It's not their fault honestly, and the food is decent, but I seem to always encounter some sort of incident whenever I go, regardless of state or city. This was no exception. My sparkling drink was flat, which my waiter apologized for and promptly got me a new one that was slightly less flat, but honestly I just think it was a not great drink and that was the root of the problem. Salad came out promptly but the pasta took a while. When it came out, it was cold and the chicken wasn't cooked completely. The waiter was very apologetic and took it back. The manager even came over and had them make me a whole new dish which came out hot. The food was ok. I really don't think the Olive Garden is anything special but I give props to the management. Out if all my cruddy OG experiences, this was the first time a manager came over and got involved. It would have been cool if they discounted or took off the charge for the food but hey, it's progress. Overall, I'll most likely still avoid the OG in the future as things seem to always go poorly. But if you're into mediocre Italian food and are in coralville, go nuts!

Came here for lunch. The whole restaurant smells like dirty restaurant kitchen! Rotting food, soiled dishes - It's very unappetizing and I would leave and find somewhere else to eat I was by myself. Our server was very nice however. I just want to get out of here as quickly as possible!

Great quality service. Quality food and general dining experience. Food is high quality. Tastes great. Everything I tried from the $6.99 buffet was delicious: minestrone soup, house salad with Italian dressing, breadsticks, everything. Would recommend this particular Olive Garden any day. I ate out during the lunch hour. Was decently busy but got seated right away. Servicr waz good. You could quickly get in and get out satisfied and full in less than a half an hour if you wanted to. They brought the food out in less than 5 minutes after I ordered it. Only ate here one time but still. The breadsticks were quite salty though. Watch out for those blood pressure raisers. :) Great job Olive Garden!

Why am I in IOWA? Cuz im visiting a cousin here...anyways, my cousin wanted Italian, so he chose Olive Garden. This Olive Garden is nice, lots of parking, and the inside looked clean yet elegant. The service was fast, and good. THE SERVER (obviously a first-timer) was VERY nervous hah. Anyways, food was guud, the pasta did seem a lil bit softer, and the soup seemed a lil bit more watered down...but perhaps it was for the reason because they were about to close...so my advice...go a bit earlier!! UNTIL THEN!! ^-^

My boyfriend and I love the OG. We go there probably once a week. The service is always great and the portions are awesome! Always end up getting two meals for the price of one with a take-out box since it's all you can eat salad or soup and breadsticks. It can be pricey for some things, but like I said, you get 2 meals! Their desserts are delish, though I'm sure all of those are pre-made, frozen and thawed anyways, who cares! The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because they're so strict on their limitations on breadsticks and salad amount, also pretty big sticklers for your coupons. I once had 3 separate servers/managers come and check out a coupon we had, it was pretty unnecessary. Plus, like I said, some of their dishes are too pricey.

A group of us from work went there for dinner, there ended up being 13 of us. After a 20 minute wait (they were not busy)...They could not sit us all at one table, so three of us had to sit at an adjoining table, not what we really got together for, since we missed out on the conversation from the other table. The food was typical Olive Garden and was ok at best. The reason it only gets one star, is the waitress. They had two of them cover our tables, but one of them was an expert at "rolling her eyes" whenever anything was requested of her. A different waitress covered our table of 3, yet, we were charged the automatically added gratuity for a large group. When it came time for the bills and complimentary mints, the waitress actually, not literally...but actually just took them and threw them on our table quite hard and walked off! The person that set up our group went and complained to the manager, who in turn gave us a $150 gift certificate to use if/when we ever come back. So to sum it up, food was ok....service was terrible!...but that's what you get when you eat in a college town, and hire people that only care about a paycheck, punching in late and what time they get off.

We've eaten at OG on many occasions. This time it was for lunch with my Grandmother for my birthday. We got there around 1:30 and we still had about a 15 minute wait for a table. They were busy yet. But was Christmas season so many weary shoppers were probably getting a late lunch too. On today's meal was: Chicken strips and pizza (for my 2 daughters) Minestrone soup for my grandmother Steak Gorgonzola-Alfredo for me For the life of me, I can't remember what my wife ordered. I know it was a pasta dish (does that narrow it down or WHAT?) I know my daughters loved their meals, they ate real well. My wife later mentioned that she wished she would have been more careful on what she ordered since she needs to be mindful of the balance of her intake. I heard no complaints from my grandmother, so I KNOW she liked her soup. I was feeling adventurous since it was my birthday and ordered something I hadn't gotten before. With my Steak Gorgonzola, I loved the steak. But did not care for the rest of the dish. We have received top notch service at OG in the past, so we were a little disappointed with the server we had. Oh he was attentive and helpful, but still not the caliber of server we've been spoiled with previously. Also on our check we got the chance to answer their survey and get $4 off our next meal. Great! Our only complaint with the delivery of the check was the manager person who brought it basically threw the mints on the table. This is not the caliber of service that we have experienced many times in the history of dining at OG, so I know we will be answering this survey to convey our opinions to OG too. Don't let our experience shy you away from OG. They have great food and a nice atmosphere. Your experience has a high likelihood of being top notch. Check out their web site not only for the nearest location to you, but also their menu is online as well. olivegarden.com

Probably the best experience at Olive Garden I've ever had. We were seated right away and our server came by for drink orders as soon as we sat down. He made the experience worth writing about. The food was good, very fresh and flavorful. Portobello ravioli a and braised beef and tortellini. Ravioli a were stuffed and garnished with fresh tomatoes and basil... Delicious. The beef was tender and yummy, rich and very comfort foodie. Also delish. Our waiter (I believe it was Kevin but we couldn't clearly read his name. He was attentive, prompt, friendly without over doing it, and appeared to be working very hard for all of his customers. Minus a star because we were seated in a room full of large parties with several small children. Never seat couples with kids and loud parties! And never seat elderly in noisy rooms! They can't hear anything you are saying. :) also because the ...manager? Was walking around with a headset talking about tables and hovering while telling someone when we would be done eating and the table would open up. Thanks for almost ruining it. He also walked us to the farthest corner to our table. Again, elderly, seat us so we are not in need of oxygen and ice packs when we finally reach our dining destination. Other than that guy everyone seemed very polite and generally pleasant. Nice job to Kevin or whatever your name is tall dark haired guy who was awesome tonight.

Fill me up on Breadsticks and salad. Then the entree comes out the size of a TV dinner at best. I'd give it a thumbs down. Typical corporate trough feed.

Its corporate chain Italian that you can go in to get a quick fix of traditional dishes and some new ones here and there. Nothing will blow you away, but they do a decent job. Can get a good meal at a decent price, with more than likely left overs. The food sometimes falls short of expectations and leaves you wanting some true traditional Italian flavors. I've had some far better Italian, this place doesn't have that mama in the kitchen touch. They are okay for some dishes, but doesn't have that authentic taste that some great Italian restaurants have. I do use Olive Garden for catering for my job, they do GREAT JOB on that. They can bang out large orders with the best of them.

How can you not love the place that introduced you to unlimited salad and breadsticks. I'm pretty sure the "garlic" on the breadsticks contains a small amount of heroin based on both my cravings for them and the withdrawls that happen a few days after. But seriously, they're awesome! Good size parking lot so you're not having to go find street parking and treking through fields to enjoy your Tuscan vacation! Standard Olive Garden here - large dining area, nice servers and the usual selection of Italian dishes. On the weekends, there is often a pretty sizable wait for groups larger than 2, but every time we go, it's worth it! The prices range from $9.95 for specials to around $17.00 for "high end" dishes that usually include seafood. Appetizers are always crowd pleasers, and seriously, what isn't Italian about mozzarella sticks! Desserts are plentiful and usually pretty decent. Service here is always pretty quick, even with larger groups, and with the accompaniments of the bread and salad, you almost always have enough to go home with. The bar area isn't huge, but accomodates a decent amount of people and has some booths that are comfy and often not full when the rest of the place is. Smaller beer and wine selection, but it works and if you're coming to the OIive Garden for their vast array of libation, we need to chat. Olive Garden is the one chain restaurant that is consistently really good and a solid place to go grab a relatively quick bite to eat in a place that feels just slightly upscale. The fact that you can ask for a to go cup of your soft drink or tea as well as a bag of extra breadsticks to go with your above average leftovers is what separates Olive Garden from the rest of the chain restaurant world.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
