Fro-yo! Choose your bowl size, fill it with whatever assortment of frozen yogurt flavors you like (they have constantly-rotating options, ten or so at a time), and top it at the toppings bar (lots of options, from fruit to candies to boba--the "bubbles" in bubble tea--to nuts to various syrups). The seating is a little odd, very short/small chairs at short tables--pretty typical for a fro-yo place, though. We usually sit outside in the lounge chairs, if the weather's nice. The atmosphere is fun--bright colors, good lighting, very clean. Staff has always been cheerful and helpful. To me, the most important thing is the options--this place has lots of them, and they change often enough that I'm always trying new flavors.

I've been to a ton, a ton of frozen yogurt places, and Orange Leaf is...okay. It's not somewhere that I'd avoid, but if there was any other alternative in the area, I'd probably go there instead. I really used to love the Aspen Leaf that was available in town, but they sadly closed up, so Orange Leaf is the only self-serve frozen yogurt place in town. First off, this place is insanely busy constantly. Unless you come during daylight hours during a weekday, expect to spend some time waiting in line. Since this is Ames and college students have odd hours, this place will be busy in some of those hours where you expect it to be dead. It's not like other yogurt places where you usually are one of the few customers. Here, most seating is filled almost all of the time. For that reason, I'll usually pick up yogurt and go somewhere else to eat. If you enjoy being around people more, though, that may not be an issue. Orange Leaf offers 3 different types of seating. They have tables, loveseat/couches, and bar-stool seating. The tables are okay, but they're surprisingly short, so depending on your body, it may be uncomfortable on your knees or back. Children can easily climb onto the chairs and tables with no issue to give you an idea of the size of them. The couches are comfy and can fit 2/3 people nicely. The bar stools are surprisingly uncomfortable. I avoid those whenever possible. They also have some outdoors benches and aderondeck chairs as well. Aspen Leaf is open year-round, so the outdoor seating isn't available when it's snowing and whatnot. Along with their fro-yo, Orange Leaf now offers Smoothies as well. Be aware that one of the smoothies has an insane amount of calories (over 500, I believe), so if you're seeking Frozen Yogurt as a healthier alternative, avoid that with a wide girth. The other smoothie is more calorie-friendly (less than 200). I haven't tried either. Orange Leaf offers two separately-sized bowls. It's easy to overfill the bowls since they are pretty large, so be aware of that when you're getting your yogurt. The yogurt itself is yummy. I love their consistency here, and their toppings are usually fresh. They have a good selection of toppings. My complaint lies with the froyo flavors. They usually have "over half" with fruit-flavored ones. I'm just not a fruit-flavored yogurt type of person, so I'm left choosing from the basic, boring ones like Chocolate. Other frozen yogurt places have been a lot better about this with things like Cookies & Cream, Caramel, Brownie Batter, Coconut, etc. This one tends to leave me with boring Chocolate and Vanilla. That's more of my personal preference than anything else. They do switch out flavors often-ish, but their newer flavors are meh as well. A couple latest have been Banana or Salted Caramel Pretzel. Ick. The staff is there. They can do their jobs well, and they usually do a fantastic job of checking you out quickly. Don't really expect a friendly greeting or offers to help with what you're doing or anything. (It quickly becomes clear who has "never done froyo" when they walk in, and in most places, the staff quickly helps, but the staff here tends to do their own thing). The staff does keep the place immaculately clean and does a great job of keeping the line down, though, so they're doing okay. Orange Leaf also has a rewards card. It's a nice plastic card and you can register it online to see your balance and whatnot. It's a nice system, and you can earn free froyo that way. Overall, it's an okay location. There's nothing really "wrong" with it, but there's nothing that keeps me coming back aside from the fact that it's the only place in town. If I had options, I'd probably go elsewhere. The froyo options aren't really varied enough for me, the seating is only okay, and I never really feel like I'm appreciated customer here. But it's an okay place none-the-less.

The first choice at Orange Leaf is between the tub suited for a small popcorn or the tub suited for a medium popcorn. The bowls here are enormous. Orange Leaf is one of the growing number of self-serve fro-yo places that have appeared in Iowa. Here's how it works: You dump frozen yogurt from one of 12 different selections in to your kiddie-pool sized bowl. A lot of good choices here: PB, red velvet, brownie batter, etc. Put in as much, or as little as you like. Mix and match then proceed to the toppings bar where you can pick from ground up candies, fruit and nuts. They weigh it out and you "buy in bulk" at .34 cents an ounce. Careful, you can get really carried away in your mixology here like my wife did. I ended up paying $13 for two of the smaller sized bowls. The frozen yogurt is really good. Smooth and creamy with a lot of interesting flavors to choose from. I appreciated the quality of the ice cream an the toppings. I liked the whole cashews that were available. High-quality ingredients and a fun way to assemble your own dessert. The clean and modern interior design was a nice change of pace as well. I look forward to coming here again, and with the skills to know to keep the portions smaller probably have a reasonably priced snack.

I love Orange Leaf! This is probably my most favorite frozen yogurt place in the United States. I love the constantly changing fresh froyo flavors and huge variety of fresh toppings. I love that each of the flavors actually tastes like the flavor it's supposed to be. Be very careful, it's self-serve and before you know it your wallet will be making up for the weight of your yogurt.

Favorite place to get 'ice cream' around. A bit pricy though.

I really didn't expect much being that I am an acclaimed FRO-YO connoisseur and somehow I found myself in the middle of Iowa at 11:55 PM. BEST EVER! Try chai tea, raspberry and even the original tart tastes better in the Midwest.

Typical Fro yo place- Very clean and had some good seating. It was Not cheap and the topping bar was not That Big- The flavors however were plentiful! We hung out for a while and they did not kick us out - so that is cool- Something was missing though-

Yogurt tastes good, but crappy service. The workers never greeted the customers, talked to each other the whole time, and seemed to hate their jobs. The actual food was good, but what else would you expect from a chain?
