My fajita quesadilla were amazing and their refried beans rock! (I don't often eat more than a bite or two...but here I devoured them:) Quick and friendly service. Several servers said hi to my 4 yr. old. Wish we had this in Lincoln:) Since then we have been there a handful of times. That is our go to Mexican place in Altoona area.

If you like food with no flavor and terrible service, then this is the place for you.

To start my server was a little on the rude side. I chalked it up to them being busy and placed my order. The server rushed me and had the personality of a flat tire. My food arrived quickly. I tasted each item separately as not to muddy the flavors while tasting. The tamale was basic with what appeared to be a canned or bottled enchilada sauce on top. This is not authentic and did no justice to REAL house made enchilada sauce. The chile rellenos was a mockery to authentic Mexican food everywhere it was filled with potatoes instead of cheese. When I cut into it I was waiting for the cheesy lava gloriousness that I am used too with this fantastic dish. I cut into it and "crickets". I couldn't believe it. Potatoes... Really??? One of the hostesses tried to explain it away as I refused to further deal with my server. No Bueno!! First and last visit all in the same day.

*Duplicate Review* There is already a page for this restaurant. This Mexican restaurant does not stand out from others I have been to. Their staff is friendly, but not talkative, which is fine, I go to restaurants to eat and not have an extensive conversation with the staff. Food is hot and flavorful, served quickly after you order which is a plus; it is one reason I enjoy Mexican restaurants. I always leave here satisfied and full-bellied. I have eaten here on multiple occasions.

Great food, speedy service (even when busy) and they know how to treat a customer. Try the Chili Verde.

Went with the family tonight... Service average and my carnitas were the worst I have had. I cannot see a reason to return.

I've never had Mexican food so unencumbered with flavor. Don't they think Iowans can handle a little jalapeño? Some onion and cilantro in the pork tacos, please. Even the pico de gallo was taste-free. At least the chips and salsa were OK, and the margarita was decent. service was brusque and unfriendly.

The food here has gotten a lot better over the last couple visits. It's seasoned well, and more authentic. The service is always good, and friendly. My favorite of late is the pork burrito. It's a wet burrito, and it's delicious. I'd love some real street food added to the menu, but I'm satisfied enough to go back and try it again. Real Mexican food is found from food trucks in SoCal anyway.

I love chili Colorado, basically It's sirloin pieces sautéed in a red chili sauce and served with tortillas, mine however was served scraped out of the bottom of the pan with a little water added to make a sauce. The burnt smell was overwhelming and the two bites I took were even worse. I left never to return

Food was below average, service was the better of the 2. Good prices, would go back only because choices are very limited in Altoona.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
