We had enough of the toursty restaurants and wanted to try something new. We happened upon Masa & Joyce, did a quick search (thank you fellow Yelpers!), and drove around the block three times to find parking in the otherwise overcrowded lot. We're glad we did. The place smelled of fish when we first walked in... but that was not an issue. See, we know that places like this probably have fantastic food if you give them a chance. So we did. We ordered the Kahlua plate and the Hawaiian plate -- both more than enough that we each asked for a box to take half back to our hotel with us. The food was FABULOUS and the service was great. Everyone was really friendly and offered a lot of suggestions. The only thing keeping this restaurant from getting five stars is the atmosphere; while friendly, the boxes, storage containers, catering supplies, and random fish tanks on the floor made the place feel a bit more industrial than it should. The food though more than makes up for the aesthetics. This is definitely a place we will visit again in the future. Eat here if you want some of the best Hawaiian food in Oahu.

Poke is always fresh and tasty! Definitely gotta go for that! Depending on whose working the staff is usually very friendly. Get the poke while it lasts because sometimes they run out quick.

Since we so impressed with the Katsu donburi, we ordered a pan for an event we had last month. I first corresponded with Alvin by email and later confirmed my order and payment by phone. He was very easy to work with and our order came out great!

Totally NOT impressed. We went there this last weekend for the first time. It was on the way to Hoomaluhia. We stopped in and pretty much got a little bit of everything. Fried Rice Musubi - bland Spam Musubi - Both kids rejected it 2 different types of Poke - Mediocre Tempura Sweet Potato - so hard...it was almost crunchy like a potato chip Noodles - nothing special but edible. about the only thing that was okay. Fish balls - uggh So...we sorted wasted over $30 on less than average food. Not a good food day for us at the park.

Awesome place to stop and get some good local food on the Kailua side of the island. Didn't try their poke but their kalua pig is really good. Only disadvantage is parking. They are reasonably priced along with other authentic Hawaiian restaurants on the island. We went here twice during our vacation and each time they would have trays and trays of orders either being picked up or theyre preparing for pickup. That says a lot. If you're looking for good Hawaiian food this is the place to go.

After my granddaughter's soccer game on Sturday, stopped by for cone sushi, hot dog musubi and ahi patties. Ahi pattiies, sounds good yeah?.......NOT! They were bland, tough, overcooked. Reminded me of a Mc Donald's hamburger. Don't have to be good like Tanioka.s, but please be edible. Ate one, tossed the other. Most things are fine there, but gotta step up the okazuya side

Visit: 8/8/09 - Lunch. Hawaiian Plate, Ahi balls and Fried noodles. Hawaiian Plate was okay today. The laulau leaves were old because they were hard and didn't taste good. I was mad because I could not eat them. I threw them away and ate the pork only. The Kailua pork was good and the poke. Ahi balls were dry. Forgot to ask for extra sauce. Fried noodles were really good. Glad the fried rice musubi was sold out when I got there. Price is still too expensive. Some of us don't have jobs, how can you keep such high prices. I will come back. This place is hit and miss all the time. Plus the counter help was really pretty that day.

I went to Masa and Joyce today for lunch...Way to go! I lived in Japan for a long time and the food "brought me back" to my second home. Though not 100% authentic Japanese it was still great, afterall this is not Japan. If you are looking for really fresh poke or sashimi be sure to come here as it is TOP NOTCH. I will be back for lunch again soon.

Reminds me of my childhood - eating May Day lunch in intermediate school. It was good. If you're looking for some authentic hawaiian dishes you'll find them here.

I've been eating here for over 15 years. I love getting takeout and heading to Lanikais or Kailua Beach. I usually get a musubi, eggplant & poke. But I've eaten almost every item, and love it all. They are closed on Monday & Tuesdays, so I schedule my Windward beach days around their business hours.

One of my favorite places on the entire island!!! i can remember my dad bringing my sister and i masa & joyce all the time when we were little...this is when they had one next to times in temple valley. But yeah it's a pretty awesome okazuya plus hawaiian food/plate lunches and FISH. I'm pretty much addicted to the spam musubi's...the chicken katsu is flawless especially with the little packets of katsu sauce they give you, and they have probably the best california rolls on the island. everything is awesome, but it's better to go early when everything is fresh and still in stock. just remember don't go on a monday or tuesday because you will be disappointed like i have been so many times....they are CLOSED.

The food here is awesome! The poke is the bomb and the fried rice musubi's are top notch! You can't go wrong here. Whenever I'm on Oahu, this is always the first stop right from the airport!

This review is for the Kalua Pig, Cabbage & rice which is just great. They offer many other dishes that looked good, but that is all I have eaten there. The quality of their fish & other items seemed to be great & I thought their prices were fine. Also, the staff there are just super nice so even if their prices are high it is worth it. Just my 2 cents. Yum...

Another of my 'must' stop places when I visit Oahu! This place has good local food and great Okazu-ya. Tip - get there early to get you best choices on oakzu-ya. They are closed mon and tues!!!!

When I was in elementary, my dad would take us here after school back when they were located in Temple Valley. I never once ate from the Kaneohe store until the Temple Valley one sadly closed down. Still good, but not as good as it used to be, I can always rely on Masa's for authentic local food. I will order spam musubis here until I die.

A tiny shop which sells fish, freshly made poki and great lunch specials including lau laus, chicken long rice, lomi lomi salmon etc. You can take out or sit down at the store to enjoy your meal. Reasonably priced and good tasting. Selection of fish is not as wide as the fish shop down the road on Kam Hwy, but Masa & Joyce does have things OTHER than poki to satiate your hunger.

  • Pam L.

When I'm visiting home, I love to come here. It's a tiny shop by a chinese restaurant and gas station and it's a premium to find parking here especially at lunch time. But well worth it. They have some of the typical yummy okazuya type food in a glass case selection--rice balls, fish, tenpura, fried chicken, yummy taro mochi cakes and on and on, the early bird gets the worm in this case as whatever they run out of, they run out of that day. They also have yummy hawaiian plates of lau lau, kalua pig, lomi salmon, poke, oh, so good.

I decided to give this place a try being that we pass it on the weekends. There was a few people who were inside enjoying there food which looked tasty. After scanning their menu I opted for their specials which were the Adobo plates being that I haven't had that in a very long time. So I purchased 1 Chicken & 2 Pork Adobo along with 1 Shrimp Tempura which came out to a little over $30 Here's my personal review I was surprised to find in the chicken small slivers of pork belly fat. I'm sorry but when I ordered chicken I expect chicken and Not pork belly fat with it. I understand that in some instances potato is added to the ingredients to take away the saltiness, could this be why there was potatoes in it? Both choices had way, way, way too much salt! If you didn't have high blood pressure after eating this you sure would have. Don't get me wrong there's some really great shares regarding this establishment it's just I happened to pick the wrong items for lunch today I would have gone back to return the plates but by the time we got to eating our plates they were closed. If you would ask me would I try them again lets just say it up on the air. At least I can say is that they are very friendly there.

Found this place on accident. My bf and I were trying to find some place that had acai bowls, and we failed. But hey we saw that Masa & Joyce had poke so we gave up our hunt for acai. Masa & Joyce has a wide variety of foods to choose from: some poke, katsu, chicken long rice, musubis and many more. I saw they had pasteles, which happens to be one of my favorite things to eat while visiting HI. I ordered that with a side of mac salad. My bf had the poke and something else I can't remember. I wasn't too impressed of their pasteles, which was in a stew form. I thought it was not thick enough and the plantains were in chunks, not mashed. It was edible but certainly not the best I have tasted on the island. I do like their mac salad, which had tuna mixed in. The poke was really good though: gelatinous chunks of ahi perfectly seasoned. I wouldn't mind coming back here but I don't recommend ordering the pasteles. The chicken long rice looks good here so I will have to try that the next time I visit.

My favorite place for Hawaiian and Okazuya food on the windward side. We usually order the Hawaiian plate and some other random things. We get there early while they still have Okazu style food. The chicken long rice is very tasty, as well as the squid luau. I wish they had more seating, otherwise the staff are efficient and friendly and the food is yummy. I recommend giving them a try.

I can't remember the last time I've been here..but it's been way too long! My sisters and nephews stopped in for a quick lunch before heading over to visit loved ones on the windward side. Mini kalua pork plate lunch with side spam musubi hit the spot! So 'ono and always great service. I tried the fried noodles that my nephews were having and that was pretty good too. Other things we had were pastele stew, squid luau & chicken katsu. I'll have to try the garlic chicken katsu next time.

It was a Friday night and since we had no food in the fridge, I had to find something to bring home for dinner. I needed something close to home and quick. I was intending to stop at L&R Drive Inn, but when I pulled into a parking space right in front of Masa & Joyce a few doors down and saw that they were still open, I made a last minute decision to try Masa & Joyce for the first time. Okazuya places are normally closed at this time (it was 5:30pm), but these guys close at 6pm. I looked up at the menu and so many things jumped out at me. Since it was aloha Friday, I decided to try one of their Hawaiian plates - the kalua pig plate, which comes with kalua pig, lomi salmon, haupia, chicken long rice, and choice of poi or rice (I chose poi). Oh my did it hit the spot! Everything tasted good. I just wish the serving of haupia was a little bigger. They put it in little serving containers that you normally put ketchup in. The guy who helped me was super friendly. I will definitely be back to try something different, maybe their chicken katsu...

This is the Cheers of Kaneohe. They have a loyal following, so if you come enough they'll know your name and will shout it out as you enter. Alvin and the gang are so accommodating. If they don't have spam musubi's in their display case they will make it on the spot for you. We have catered many parties and our guests have given many compliments. I think because it's made with love. Joyce herself has created the best spam musubi's ever!

  • Olivia K.

Masa & Joyce will make a morning sickness ridden pregnant woman drive to Kaneohe just for their food. Or at least, that's what it did for me, anyway. When I go to Masa&Joyce and am done ordering, the person ringing me up asks me how many chopsticks I want. I usually say 2 or 3 because I'm too embarrassed to admit that ALL OF THE FOOD I JUST BOUGHT IS JUST FOR ME. Granted, I always have leftovers, but there are so many things I love, I can't help but order all of my favorite things (and trust me - there are plenty). I grew up in Kaneohe back when there was a Masa & Joyce both in Kaneohe town and Kahaluu. Since they closed the Kahaluu location, me and my family have been going to the kaneohe town one. If you are into super yummy japanese okazu options, to include ume rice ball, spam, hot dog or garlic musubis, fish or hamburger patty, noodles, tempura....AHHHHHHH. My absolute favorite thing to get here is their eggplant. i have no idea what's in it and i've been trying to figure it out for years, but whatever is in there is AMAZING! They also have my favorite poke hands down, whether it be their tako poke or their hot sweet onion shoyu poke. I also LOVE their tofu salad and california rolls (though they have gotten a little skimpier in the recent few years). For those who are looking for Hawaiian food or plate lunch options, they have that as well. they have ono squid luau, which is hit or miss at lots of places. They also have yummy bentos. You can order a bunch for your kids sporting events as refreshments, or a bunch for yourself if you're feeling particularly piggish! One thing to keep in mind is that they have particular hours so best to check when they open and close. they also have run out of some of their dishes, so you'll want to make sure you go sooner than later. All in All, CANNOT GO WRONG WITH MASAS! cheeeeeeeee pono!

Perfect spot for the grinds before heading to the beach! They have Hawaiian plates as well as Okazuya til a certain time. I ordered some Okazuya items for lunch today in which everything comes aka carte for a set price. I had the Andagi and fried noodles along with some oden and tofu. It kinda reminds me of Manapua truck in a way but of course way better! It's fun when you can choose exactly what you want to order.

I've lived in Kaneohe for over 10 years and have passed Masa & Joyce numerous times but never been. It was our snack day for our daughter's T Ball game and we were trying to figure out what to bring. I saw their review on Yelp and thought we'd give it a try. I had ordered 15 kids bentos and 5 katsu bentos for the coaches from Masa & Joyce. First of all, they were so willing to work within our budget. They quoted us $3.50 per bento which included rice, hotdog, egg, chicken katsu and an andagi. What a deal!! When I got there to pick up the bentos the staff were all so helpful and friendly. I ordered a few more things and paid. As I was leaving, I got a call that the game was canceled because the rain didn't let up and was pouring even more. UH OH! What was I gonna do? The manager there told me that he would take back the bentos and refund me. He said it wasn't a problem. Who does that? I asked if he would just take back the 5 Katsu bentos for the coaches. He willingly did, refunded me the money and still offered to take back the 15 kids bentos. I couldn't do it. We kept 4 bentos and gave the rest away to our families. It was delicious!! Our son's baseball season is starting up soon and I know we will be ordering from Masa & Joyce when it's our snack day as well as for the potlucks. I'll also be heading there on those (many) days I don't care to cook. I'm so glad we Yelp'd and found this treasure in Kaneohe!

Our go to place for a quick picnic meal, snack, field trip or easy lunch. The fried noodles, tofu (cold or cooked), boiled peanuts, hawaiian plate, eggplant, saba, teri chicken, andagi, fried rice, spam musubi are just some of our favorites. Great service, always someone to help you out even if there's a long line. Go early on holiday's because it gets busy. Hawaiian plates are also a favorite.

Don't usually come down Kaneohe side but needed a place to eat that had good food you couldn't find everywhere on island. Randomly picked this place that had decent reviews and seemed decent priced. Got in, ordered, and within 10 minutes we had our food. Some of the best Hawaiian food I've eaten that could be bought and not found at someone's party or wedding. The only downside is that parking sucks. Other than that it was a great place for a quick lunch.

I'm disappointment and feel bad for giving this location 3 stars- my intentions was to give them a 5 but just cant. I ordered their fried pork- basically like small sized friend pork grinds that were marinated in lots of sauce. I liked it but wasn't in love. My bf had their kalua pig which he said didn't have any flavor. I also thought this location was very over priced for the portion of food. When I think local grindz, I think soul food! Although they serve this, it was not to my liking. However, I will admit- Their dried aku was BOMB!I brought a pound ($27.99) home to Maui for my dad who loved it! I will be back for dried aku, not necessarily for their plate lunch/bento style food.

I admit I haven't been here in a couple of years, but it was a sticker shock for me. Two ume musubi, two Teri patties, and one corned beef. $10. Whoa!

I am in love! How have I been to this place a hundred times and not written a review? This is my son and my favorite place to grab food on the windward side and my favorite okazuya place, ever!! And they have a large fresh poke selection too! Who does that? You can't beat all the options you have. Every time I enter here I just stare for a couple minutes and try to think if I should get one of everything... I end up only getting one plate but that is enough for two meals for me. Everything is so cheap and delicious! If you don't know what to get, just ask the staff. All of the staff are so friendly and helpful! My favorites: Fish balls or fish patty Spam musubi (They actually cook the spam! I hate it when the spam isn't cooked.) Hot dog musubi Fried rice musubi Shrimp tempura Long rice Andagi (They have regular or sugar.) Chicken (Katsu and teri.) Eggplant Actually, who am I kidding? All of it is my favorite! I could just list everything they sell here. They have so many different musubi and poke to pick from. This place really has something for everyone. It never disappoints! TIP: Masa & Joyce is now open 7 days a week!! Hip hip hooray!

If you live in Kaneohe, you know this is the go-to-place before you head to the beach or basically any outdoor activity. Easy to grab spam musabi or hot dog musabi, andagi, and my favorite, the sweet potato. Also a great place to pick up Hawaiian plate lunch. They always seem to have a lot of staff especially on the weekends so never have to wait long. Service is quick and friendly.

I was starving after doing a hike and was looking for somewhere to eat today. I decided I wanted fried rice when my husband mentioned the okazuya place he used to go to. I found my fried rice in a musubi and couldn't have been happier. I got the vegetable tempura which was okay (a little soggy and greasy). The staff were friendly and had great service. Overall, good place to grab a bento or a snack.

Found this place by accident when I on the windward side. My friend said he wanted rice so instead of going to the fast food across, we went there. I got the kalua pork and my friend got loco moco, both dishes was delicious and good portion too. Must get the long rice noodle with the chicken broth, I think that's the best part of the meal, can't wait to go to the windward side for this little hidden gem

Today I got a Musubi, boneless fried chicken , and nishime. just average tasting. chicken had too much garlic. nishime served like in a tiny container, so I had to get 2 (see photo). All this for $9.25. I should have just ordered the Hawaiian Food.

I wish there were more places like this. It was like time traveling back to when I was a kid and visiting my cousins... Hawaiian Plate - laulau, lomi salmon, kalua pig, chicken long rice, potato salad, poi. ALL OF MY FAVORITES on one plate! Everything was done well and with huge portions! Big enough to share between 2 small eaters (and a 5 year old) but we managed to finish off everything despite having to also eat... Portugese sausage and cabbage. Wow, this stir fry was great. The cabbage absorbed the meaty spicy flavors of the sausage while having its own sweetness come out in the cooking process. a masterpiece. Spam musubi was also reasonably priced and was one of the better prepared ones on our trip. Makes for good emergency rations between meals. Definite place to revisit on the next trip.

We were exceptionally grateful and happy to have such friendly staff cater and deliver delicious Hawaiian food reasonably priced for an event of 200+ people. Pork laulau was tender, moist and wrapped in just the right amount of luau leaves. Chicken long rice was cooked to perfection, with thick, clear noodles, and tasty broth. Squid luau exceeded my expectations in flavor along with generous portions of tako. Lomi salmon had just the right amount of Hawaiian salt with equal portions of diced tomatoes and salmon. Don't worry...poi and haupia comes pre-packed in separate round, clear, plastic containers with lids. Convenient and appealing! Poi and haupia tasted fresh. Families and friends complimented and asked us during and after the event, "Where did you cater or order Hawaiian food from?" We gladly responded, "Masa and Joyce in Kaneohe."

Best secret restaurant on windward side of island! You must eat here!!! Salmon Poke is best flavors I have had anywhere! I get the Hawaiian Plate because it gives you a taste of almost everything. That way if you don't like something you don't have a ton of it. But as long as you are adventurous you will love it!

on 11/17/14 I had 1 spam musubi, 1 fish patty, 1 chicken katsu, 1 eggplant tempura, a tofu salad container ($3.25) and 1 bottle water. My price for these 5 items and water was $14 +. If you notice the tofu salad price is listed next to it so the rest of the items were $11 + !!! OH MY GOODNESS... the prices are out of this world! Why not give customers a choice of 4 or 5 items from the okazuya for a set price???? No wonder I haven't been here for a while.... HMMM

Had Okazu ya for breakfast this morning. I had boneless chicken cut up katsu style, the shoyu long rice, shrimp tempura and Spam musubi. All good. Very tasty but like most okazu, pretty pricey. Staff is always friendly.

I got the Hawaiian Plate. It was very tasty.... Wish it came with more Lomi Salmon and more rice... Or poi, if you choose poi.... But the lau lau was good, the pig was good. And the chicken long rice was good.... All in all a good plate!!!

This is a perfect place to go for local food or plate lunch. Good, fast service and decent prices. The chicken long rice is one of the best I've had, maybe even bettah then my momz. The fried rice musubi is another nice addition to any plate lunch. Right up the street from the cemetery for anyone looking for a quick place to grab a bite

I heard good things about this place but was sadly disappointed. i had the teri chicken bento. the chicken was very dry and i was not impressed with the sauce. they do serve some okinawan dishes and i will probably go back and give them another chance.

Some good Okazuya. I got the noodles, chicken Katsu musubi, teri burger patti, shrimp tempura musubi, tofu, ahi tempura, corned beef patti, and eggplant.

This is the place to go for Hawaiian food in Kaneohe!! The prices are a little high, but the food is good.

I need to start venturing out to Kailua side more. There are apparently a fair amount of good eateries and what not...I just wish they weren't so far!! I still haven't even gone to Cinnamon's! It's killing me. But I digress. Masa & Joyce was a place I heard about and we were on this side of the island to check out Soul Trex, by the way, amazing outdoor and hiking store, check them out. yelp.com/biz/soul-trex-k… . Anyways, Masa & Joyce is a decent sized okazuya-style place that serves Hawaiian food and a number of other local seafood items. Onto the food! I decided to order the Katsu Donburi and 1 spam musubi and 1 ume musubi. I was so surprised they had anything left; it was about 1:30 pm on a weekend that we went. I heard their donburi was good and also their katsu, they still had 3 pieces left of their katsu which was just fantastic. Food came out reasonably quickly and I dove right in to the musubis first...which I should mention are GIANT. Spam & Ume Musubi - Tons of rice and filling. Definitely worth it if you aren't too hungry or if you're starving. 2 is more than enough. The ume was standard but good, as was the spam. I'm glad the filling to rice ratio was great considering just how much rice they give you. Props to them. Katsu Donburi - Perfectly cooked egg, well seasoned onions and a good amount too, and also a giant piece of katsu mixed in...astounding. There was a good amount of sugar and soy sauce used in the mix, you could really taste the hints of salty and sweetness. Rice was cooked perfectly and once again, ratio of rice to egg/katsu was perfect...this place knows donburi for sure. Check out Masa & Joyce if you're on this side and have a hankering for Okazuya. Definitely worth it and definitely try the donburi and the musubis. Fit Tip #7 - Give HIIT a try. No, I don't mean go out and hit people. I mean High Intensity Interval Training. It's basically a series of fast paced, cardio/resistance based exercises one after another for a short period of time; followed by a short period of rest, usually 30-60 seconds. The benefit to your endurance is amazing and your strength will surely improve and not give out quickly after doing this for a couple weeks. It's difficult, but rewarding.

Yes, the kids bentos are such a great buy for $3.50 and owner was wonderful to work with -- made some suggestions, since this was out first time to order for the soccer team. Have stopped in several times since then. Planning to order from them for grandson's 7th birthday next month. Great staff.

Went there for a quick bite before work the other day and was pleasantly surprised with their selection of musubis, the have the standard spam and hot dog, but they also had shrimp and Garlic chicken. I tried the garlic chicken and that was a good musubi. I also purchased their Okinawan sweet potato tempura. That was a disappointment though, I was really looking forward to gulping that down but the first bite was bad, it was as if I just bit into a sponge will with oil, not a good thing. After putting it down for awhile and staring at that piece of what was supposed to be a sweet piece of goodness and contenplating do I trash this oil filled piece of starch I decided to use 10 pieces of paper towels to soak out most of the oil and bit into once most the taste was not great but was much more edible...don't know if I'll buy the sweet potato again but I will buy the musubis definitely...

Like a lot of fellow Yelpers, I've heard about this place and wanted to try it out. I recently went to Masa and Joyce and had a takeout: Hawaiian plate and spicy teriyaki chicken. We arrived at 11:30 AM and there were many customers. Our orders were taken immediately by a younger looking male wearing a dark t shirt. As we were waiting for our food, I observed all the staff polite and pleasant. Our order taker prepared our Hawaiian plate real quick, but we ended up waiting like another 10 minutes for our spicy chicken plate. When it was time to eat (15 minutes later), we were quite disappointed with our Hawaiian plate because the lomi-lomi salmon was salty and fishy, the kalua pork was oily an stringy, and the haupia was almost clear like it was made more with water instead of coconut milk. The laulau was pretty good though, and the rice was decent. All in all, it was edible, and I would've given them 2 stars. But.... THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT was the spicy chicken plate. The spicy sauce was Halm sauce with Mae Ploy dipping sauce, but it went well with the rice. The chicken were all cut up into pieces that were hard, dry, and over cooked. On top of that, it had a smell to it, as if it was left out uncovered and later reheated again. Basically, I had sauce, rice, and potato salad for lunch because I dumped the chicken. Had I eaten it there, I would've sent it back. I would never serve food like this to anyone. How do they expect people to eat this, let alone accept money for it, is beyond me. I'm sure the food items in their window may be good, but if this is how they operate, then i say, STAY AWAY!!!!!

The plate lunches are kinda expensive, but at least they're yummy. Gotta try their Hawaiian plate and fried rice musubi!

Stopped in for late lunch while on Windward side. Had Hawaiian plate, spicy teriyaki chicken and a plate of Kalua pork. Also, had a fried rice musubi. Everything was served quickly and tasted great. Good value for the money. We would stop back again!

I love the Hawaiian plate lunch here. Very tasty laulau, and my dad makes the best laulau... The poke is fresh and delicous. The fried Okinawan sweet potato mochi is my favorite item in the okazuya. The plants sold my Mom Joyce are also my favorite item for purchase here. :-) Yelp 365 Challenge: 172/365

This place is fine. Nothing spectacular. For the price, I would have expected more. I had the combo plate with kalua pork (standard run of the mill flavor), rice (nothing special) long rice (this actually was one of the better long-rice I've had) lomi salmon (sold but nothing to write home about) and squid lua (where's the squid?! seriously I couldn't find any). They do need some kind of storage to put all their stuff out in the dining area. Looks too industrial and messy.

Had the hamburger steak plate lunch. I swear, the burger was more bread than beef. Didn't or should I say couldn't finish it...would give 1 star but the mac salad was okay as well as the gravy.

Masa and Joyce has to be one of my favorite past time places to eat! Before it was Helenas in town was Masa and Joyces in K-Town. This place is great. Most of the plates include the local combination of lomi lomi salmon, potato salad, poke, long rice. You can mix up the combination with lau lau, kalua pork, squid luau and more! This place is not all that expensive. Parking is shared with a Chinese restaurant. Highly recommend this place for a local plate to anyone who is on the windward side of the island

So I'm back a week later to eat at Masa & Joyce Okazuya again.........what did I come here for? The Lau Lau plate! I was jonesing for a Lau Lau, so I made the run to Kaneohe this afternoon just to have this Lau Lau plate lunch. The Lau Lau plate lunch consisted of - 1. Lau Lau, 2. Lomi Lomi salmon 3. Poi or rice...........I took poi 4. Chicken long rice The Lau Lau plate was a great bargain ($8.50), and initially I had thought the pork meat in the Lau Lau was rather small, but after eating all of my food, I was quite full and very satisfied. Food came out very hot, and everything tasted very fresh! I especially liked the chicken long rice & poi! My friend ordered a Garlic Chicken Katsu plate...........as you can see (see pic), it looked as good as it tasted! I tried a piece of the chicken from my friend's plate............it tasted light, and not greasy at all. The garlic sauce complimented the chicken very well! I was very happy with today's food selection..........I can tell why a lot of people walk in to pick up food, as today it was quite busy with a lot of people coming in for their delicious food.

Whenever I'm in Kaneohe during breakfast or lunch, I stop here to eat. It's a combination okazu, poke and plate lunch place. Sometimes I get the okazu, which is nothing outstanding, or the breakfast, which basically is just breakfast. You can't mess up breakfast right? But I love their pastele stew which I get often. Price is above average I would say because it always seems like I spend way more here than I do at a comparable plate lunch type restaurant.

I usually get musubi or noodles, etc and it is always delicious. This morning I decided to try a hamburger steak plate. I was disappointed. The gravy was very thick and rich and tasted like packet brown gravy. The hamburger patties had a mushy consistency. Hardly any onions and no Mac salad. I won't be ordering that anymore. I would just stick to the okazuya items, those are always good and tasty.

Yum...

Parking was an issue but the food we ordered was very good. I don't remember if they had different size on lunch boxes but regular size was too big. I am definitely going back to try other dishes.

Families and friends complimented and asked us during and after the event, "Where did you cater or order Hawaiian food from?" We gladly responded, "Masa and Joyce in Kaneohe."

on 11/17/14 I had 1 spam musubi, 1 fish patty, 1 chicken katsu, 1 eggplant tempura, a tofu salad container ($3.25) and 1 bottle water. HMMM

Love this place!! Corn-beef and Cabbage is my favorite!! Hawaiian plate is Winnahz too!! My sons love the breakfast, they're always asking me to "cook the eggs like Masa & Joyce dad" LOL...

Ono Kau-kau! Great "no-ambiance excellent food" place. Lay-Lau's were excellent, and they have a decent serving size of poi! Worth the stop!

Yum...

Parking was an issue but the food we ordered was very good. I don't remember if they had different size on lunch boxes but regular size was too big. I am definitely going back to try other dishes.

Excellent, fresh choices combined with a friendly staff equals one of the best places to eat on the Windward side! Poke selection is great and the quality is super fresh. Love it!

$10. Whoa!

HMMM

The food here is just really good! They've got such a wide variety of food dishes to choose from. I enjoy their plate lunches and poke.

Love this place!! Corn-beef and Cabbage is my favorite!! Hawaiian plate is Winnahz too!! My sons love the breakfast, they're always asking me to "cook the eggs like Masa & Joyce dad" LOL...

Loved it! Everyone was so nice! Didn't make us feel stupid asking a million questions about the food. Great if you are hungry because you get so much! We were just touring around checking out the area and are so glad this was our lunch stop. Super casual. Would definitely come back!
