Most apathetic staff I've ever experienced at a Starbucks. The girl who took my order (a grande ices coffee in a venti cup, unsweetened) didn't ask me if I wanted a receipt and never acknowledged the end of my order. She went over and made my drink in a regular grande cup. Shows how much she was paying attention... She was much more interested in gossiping with the other two girls working. I got a refill on my drink, and while I was waiting, they lost two people's drink orders. Seriously? It wasn't even busy in there. Time to get some competent staff...

I use Starbucks as a means for charging up my iPhone and just chilling here when I really have no place to go to in Kailua - and just to get away from the ills of Honolulu. Don't get me wrong, I love Starbucks' drinks and food offerings, but it had come to my attention that I'm just saving up my $$ and not spend it on frivolous things - like expensive cups of coffee. Yes, I do brew my own at home, but its not the Starbucks beans. I do miss the Starbucks daily brews, but you gotta do what you gotta do, I suppose. This Starbucks was humming on the weekend, so that's cool. Plenty of people in the lines and plenty of people just chilling out and working like it was a library, but not as quiet. The usual drinks I formerly get are the frappuchinos and the daily house brews. Starbucks is just like any other fast food establishment, they just happen to be the proveyors of coffee at its purest form and I love coming here and smelling fresh brewed coffee every time I step into this place or any Starbucks location. Hearing the baristas screaming customers names and what drink they ordered brings music to my ears too. Still continually grateful for the baristas not kicking me out for just hanging out and not buying anything - using their wifi and the electricity to juice up my iPhone. Love you Starbucks! A++

Iced coffee is a morning must...especially before a day of Stand Up Paddling. Line was easy. Coffee tasted fine but was a tad to creamy. Came back and got my refill...just the way I like it!

This Starbucks is soooooo freaking sloooooow! Every time I have come here and it's not often, it takes for-e-ver to get my drink. I mean really...it's not that crowded and even if it was so what?! Every other Starbucks seems to have incredible baristas that are able to move the line quickly. Yet for some reason the baristas at this one always seem so inexperienced and just plain slow. There is always people just hovering and waiting for their drink. I mean you can literally go to the bathroom, come out and your order STILL isn't ready...what's up with that?!

    (2)
  • Ashley C.

I stop here once or twice a week before work for my morning coffee. There is typically a line but it moves fast. The staff is super friendly, especially Katie who still remembered my name even after a month of not stopping in bc I was on vacation. That was impressive enough for me to leave a review. Nice work guys.

Was here this am (about 7:10) and restroom was out of TP and paper towels. Told barista/waiter and he said"oh yeah we don't have any paper towels but I'll do the toilet paper". He then went back to serve people What? How do you wash and dry your hands folks? Pity the next person who uses this facility. Oh yeah, coffee is always Starbucks.

the cashier had VERY BAD customer service. He was VERY cocky. I've ordered a trenta green tea latte at other locations and he said they aren't allowed to sell any lattes in a trenta. It's not so much the fact that I couldn't get a trenta versus the way he was talking. When I explained that I've ordered it at other Starbucks before he just shrugged his shoulders and put his hands up and tells me..."well we can't" with a cocky look. For one you didn't have to be sassy and if you explained it NICELY it wouldn't have been a problem. I'll NEVER come back to this location again. Just cause you're working in Kailua it doesn't mean you have to have your nose so high up in the air. Remember you're in the customer service industry. Your customers should come first!!!

It's about 1:00 PM, Thursday, 10/16. OUT OF BANANAS AGAIN? For some reason Starbucks often is out of bananas to make their smoothies. At 90% of all the SB I've frequented, they were out of bananas at one time or another. This branch has a very unfriendly, young male worker, he seems to be offended that I am there. When he hands me my smoothie, he never smile or even look at me. He does not say anything he just place it on the counter. I got a feeling that this place has some racist attitude and personnells.

same oldies and newbies... at least they can get my drink correct! ! alot of tourists that just font understand. . They need japanese menus...

The cashier was soooo spacey!! I swear he was having a full fledge convo with himself. My friend and I stopped in to grab a Iced Coffee and PSL and his bad jujus just hit us the wrong way. The 2stars is for the girl making the drinks, by the time he finally rang up the drinks, she had it ready to go.

I love this Starbucks! All the workers there have great customer service, they remember who you are and what you order. Every time I have gone there, I have never had a bad experience and my drink not perfectly made. Great experience and always a yummy drink!

This is the best Starbucks that I have ever visited. The location is magnificent with beautiful and unique "modern" decor inside that somehow evokes the hawaiian style and a wonderful outdoor patio seating area in a lush tropical environment only seconds from major Kailua shopping and dining experiences. Parklng is very easy but unobtrusive. The counter service is the best of any Starbucks by far, including those in Europe and Asia that I frequent. The Coffee drinks that are served at this Starbucks are superb and always top notch in quality and presentation. The food is fresh, crispy and well plated, with lots of choices for breakfast or just a sweet accompaniment to your specialty espresso drink. They even have vegetarian options and will use fresh soy milk if you ask. I n short, this is the best Starbucks you will likely have the pleasure to visit; trust me, I have been to many and none compare to this one!

Standard Starbucks location. The parking lot can be a tight fit, but the location is welcoming, friendly, and clean. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area and in need of a Starbucks fix.

Great location, poor service. Ordered breakfast sandwiches and cashier forgot to prepare them. No line but still waited 15 minutes for them. When they did arrive they were burnt.

It's Starbucks. Nothing special. Same over priced cup of coffee everywhere you go. But at least it's consistent.

  • Shanti B.

Great location my fellow baristas & myself strive for 200% customer satisfaction. It does get pretty busy during certain times of day especially when a tour bus drops the load of tourists off somewhere around here (idk where exactly but they ALL walk over here) BUT we work hard & fast to assure our customers quality beverages all day every day!!! :) see u there! Enjoy :D

Ok, as most coffee aficionados aka coffee snobs know, Starbucks usually has clean bathrooms, free Wifi, lots of outlets to plug in your electronic drug of choice, nice seating and coffee made with filtered water and replaced regularly so it is always fresh and never burnt tasting. Baristas are on top of their game here. Yes I came here and asked for a couple off the menu drinks and they hooked us up. Off the menu items you ask??? Yes, what I am about to share with you is some of the secret menu that they have shared with me and that I have personally ordered and tasted. Hold on to your sippy cups and take some notes so you, yes you can order like a pro and impress your friends and confuse some customers as they try to look for what you just ordered as these are not listed on their menu board. Ok here we go: Captain Crunch Frappuccino: If you like Frappuccinos you will love this refreshing strawberry and creme treat. It has one shot of caramel, two shots of toffee, one shot of hazelnut, and two scoops of chocolate chips. I prefer mine without the chocolate chips. Snickers Frappuccino: Ok if you like snickers then this one is for you. It has two pumps of toffee nut and caramal drizzle on top. YUMMY!!! Biscotti Frappuccino: Buy a piece of your favorite biscotti and ask the barista to blend it with your choice of frappuccino. It will give tiny biscotti bits that will add big flavor to your frapp! Butterbeer Frappuccino: Ok so you are a Harry Potter fan and you wanted a butterbeer but didn't want to the Three Broomsticks to get one. Well you can now get it at your local Starbucks. if they don't know what's inside, just ask for a creme frappuccino base made with whole milk and whipped cream. Add in 3 pumps of caramel syrup, 3 pumps of toffee nut syrup and caramel drizzle. Better watch out as this drink might put you under a spell that keeps you coming back for more. You are not a big Frappuccino drinker??? No worries, try some of these drinks. If you are like me and either don't sleep much or you need to have that pick me up... try the next two drinks. Dirty Chai: It's a Chai Latte, hot or cold, make it dirty! The dirty is a shot of espresso. If one isn't enough then get a double. Once I got a triple but it came out a little too bitter for my taste but it did the job and gave me that boost. Liquid Cocaine: Okay this drink might have you bouncing off the walls but is soooo worth it. What's inside... Order 4 shots of espresso and 4 pumps of white chocolate syrup over ice in a grande cold cup. Stir and get ready for blast off. Make sure you tell them not to add any milk so it will be pure caffeine and sugar. Strawberry Lemonade: More in the mood for a refreshing drink then this one might be for you. It's not on the menu but you can order it without explaining it to them. It's pink strawberry lemonade slush that will have you licking your lips. I know there is a bunch more but I haven't tasted them yet. But these ones were the ones I tried. Have fun and enjoy! BTW I would of gave them 5 stars but their parking lot has really limited parking spaces.

Came here for an iced coffee. Not much of a line. A lot of people sit in, on their laptops, talking story or just sitting there. I liked their coffee. The time we came in their bathrooms were closed to be cleaned. There are a lot of outdoor seating.

These guys deserve 10 stars! Justin, Alyssa, Stephanie and the crew make my wife and I feel at home there every day. Despite the masses, these guys make a fast cup o' joe! Always friendly despite working since 4 am. They worked Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years without a grumble. Much love from this group. Aloha!

I like coming here! Whenever i'm in kailua, want a drink, or just need to kill time I stop by. I have never had any issues with any of the baristas. Everyone who has ever helped me has been friendly and professional. I'm surprised they have some bad reviews here. Of course I'm hardly here enough to meet all of the staff. I have never had any problems with the service. I am not a professional coffee drinker I just come in for my hot mocha with whip cream or passion tea lemonade. Yum! I would recommend this Starbucks to my friends.

  • Brad L.

I always get a tall coffee for $1.80 plus tax, so $1.88. Now they raised the price $0.16! They are the only Starbucks I have gone to with increased prices! I go to enchanted lake Starbucks now since they have not raised their prices. The owner of Starbucks Kailua is being greedy by being the only store to raise prices! Go elsewhere!

  • Thomas P.

Your typical local neighborhood Starbucks. It's a close knit community with lots of regulars, and the staff does well with remembering your name and order. That means it's spelled right most of the time. Great outdoor seating area that is always crowded, but I've never had a problem finding a table. One of my favorite Starbucks locations. And there are a lot to choose from here.

  • Raymond A.

The workers here are very sweet, and they always have a positive attitude going on for them. I usually get a salted caramel frap and they always make it the way my boy Jesus Christ intended it to be. If heaven had a Starbucks, it would be this one (minus the lines at rush hour because heaven hath no lines)

So based on a lot of other reviews, custom made drinks are supposed to be fast.... I grew up going to this Starbucks and have never really had a problem. Maybe people think it seems slow since they service most of Kailua. Our other location in Enchanted Lake really only services those in E-lake, Keolu and those driving through. Which isn't much really. Like all those Starbucks they have a clean restroom, free wi-fi, plenty of outlets and a Jamba next door lol. But one of the few that still have comfortable seating. They still have couches that you will find hipsters and college students alike lounging around for hours. I will agree that sometime the cashiers/baristas have a little bit of a chip on their shoulder, and act annoyed if you don't order your drink the way they would say it but c'est la vie. I am sure anyone who has worked retail/restaurant has done the same themselves too.

If I didn't work in Kailua this would NEVER be my choice to order a drink here. Rude people snobby roll their eyes talk to eachother... I ordered 2 coffees a bistro box and a sausage roll. Barely into my order the lady tells me my total and I say hey wait I have one more drink... She rolled her eyes at me ! Took my order n I had my skateboard... My hydro flask an my bag. She didn't bother to offer me a package for my bistro box. I get my drinks and my sandwich lady rolls her eyes at me.. A DIFFERENT ONE. I'm like wtf ? N den I ask hey can I get a package. No acknowledgement so I kind of raised my tone in a rude way. The lady who hands me my sausage roll threw my package at me. How is dat supposed to make me feel ??? I come here every Tuesday at about the same time and i get the same exact service. Yeah "maybe I shouldn't go here" but I need coffee... -_- and I'm always running late lol

Best Starbucks on the island. I live on the west side and go to one of the two drive thrus on my way to work. Service in the drive thrus feels like fast food service, but I get the real coffee shop vibe when I come to this one. Lanikai is my favorite beach, so this is the Starbucks I stop into on weekends on my way to the beach. They are always crazy busy on weekends, and the line is always really long, but the barristas get everyone through really fast. A+++

I don't know if it was just an off day, or if something is just wrong at this Starbucks! So, I went in to order a Super hot Mocha-venti, and a venti-white chocolate mocha frap with a shot of expresso and whipped cream. First, the girl who took my order rolls her eyes when she got my order wrong. She didn't even read back my order, I only caught the mistake because she didn't write it down on a plastic cup... then, the barista took FOREVER to make my drinks. I think she skipped ahead a couple of people who seemed to be her friends. I know things are more laid back in Kailua, but this was just a ridiculous experience. I'd say I'm never going back here, but I know I'd be fibbing cause it's the only one that's convenient in that area... *sigh*

I have been a frequent customer since September 2010 on the Windward side. My 5 year old son and I usually stop in 1-2 times a week at least during early afternoon hours for a quick treat close to home. From my past job experiences I've always worked and had responsibilities of giving 100% customer service to the consumer. I was also a Starbucks Barista at one point so I have a general idea of what the company is expecting of their staff from knowing their "REGULAR" customers, to what specific drink(s) they order, or even their first names at the drop of a hat. I worked at 2 different Starbucks locations in the past, one having drive-thru service and the other being a lobby only store. Our staff always kept track of who supported our store often and recognized them, IT'S NOT THAT DIFFICULT!!!! I feel like it's just common courtesy and way of showing respect to the customer when they see these same employees on a day to day basis every week... Instead of pretending like they don't recognize them at all. From my Starbucks experience at this location it has just been so, so, and I'm to the point where I almost don't want to be at customer here anymore. Many of the baristas are rude and almost seem put out or annoyed by having to do their job. Does anyone else notice this??? Is it just me??? Or am I missing something???

I love this Starbucks location. I have never had any issues with it, and I have been coming here for years. Seating options are pretty generous (compared to some other places), and the barista that takes your order is always very pleasant, efficient and welcoming. Seriously, I don't know how they stay so happy (maybe free caffeine? lol jk) Just coming in here and receiving that cheerful "Hello, how are you doing today? What can I get for you? Have an awesome day!" just puts me in a good mood. I have never had any mistakes with my drinks (a friend of mine did one time though, and they fixed it immediately and offered a coupon for next time as well.) All in all - 5 stars! :D

Only my 2nd visit to this location, arrived around 9.30 pm Nov 12 Tuesday night with my neighbor island visitor, who uses a walking stick. On placing our order for a soy hot chocolate and a latte, we felt very strongly the barista did not want us there, and was bummed we were placing an order. we both used the bathroom, which was quite disgusting. My friend's drink was ready first, but the barista put it in a place where she could not easily reach it, with her difficulty walking and the employee mopping the floor right there. She had to ask them to reach the drink for her, as I was in the bathroom. We then sat at a table, my first time sitting at a table at any Starbucks. There was one other customer at another table, and another who kept walking in and out and appeared to be the friend of the barista. With all the loud mop bucket dragging and loud talking of the barista to his friend, plus constant interruptions being told they were closing in 20 mins, then 10 mins, we decided to leave. My hot chocolate did not taste as good as it usually does, but I didn't think anything of it at the time. Within a half hour, i started having stomach pains, bloating and gas, quite uncomfortable, so I cut short my chat with my visiting friend and went home. On waking the next day, I had a bad headache, which i rarely get, and extreme fatigue. When the headache had not cleared by evening, I realized it must have been a mild case of food poisoning - perhaps the soy milk had gone bad? Suffice to say, I will not return to Kailua Starbucks.

  • Casey R.

It's a Starbucks. A busy one with a really compact and a horribly thought out parking lot. I definitely prefer Morning Brew across the street for the quality of the coffee but if your in a hurry this place usually fits the bill.

    (3)
  • Mary R.

Most of us have had some form of Starbucks coffee and we know that its good. What I like about this particular location is the staff. Sure the staff remembers your drink, its what they do. These guys are among the elite of the baristas. I always leave with exactly what I want with minimal wait and nice chat with one of the staff. I am treated like one of those gold reward card customers and I don't even have one! (not yet anyway. I'm on my way just 20 more stars to go)

    (5)
  • Beerent G.

Everytime I come here it seems like the employees don't like their jobs. You could at least smile when making coffee and speak up when you're announcing the drinks. I didn't catch the persons name but I went there today and the girl mumbled my drink out, when I asked her what it was she mumbled it while walking away. Is your job really that hard. Usually when the dudes are working this place is really lively but when the unhappy girls are working its really unpleasent, might as well get coffee from McDonald's.

    (2)
  • Dmitry O.

great people, love drinks!!! - today we got two cups of hot tea, one "green" and other "awake".... and Madeleines.... with a banana..... - there is Morning Brew accross the street, but we prefer to come here......allot more comforting.....

Even in paradise, it rains occasionally. Leaving the beach for a few hours and not wanting to go to the house, I holed up here. Took a seat outside and watched life go by.... Saw a few interesting things: Normal looking haole, with a jacket and a couple of shopping bags, walked by with a tiny, pink hello kitty backpack on. 2 kids standing at the bus stop, playing a ukulele, while pounding a 12 pack of budlight ( y not, it was friday!). And last but not least, saw an older white guy with a yellow-green neon long sleeve shirt having coffee. He was wearing the largest gold chain that I have seen in many years, the funny part, the sign on his work truck - Gold Chain Construction - Quality as Good as Gold.

    (4)
  • Bethany N.

So I came in to get my apres dinner caffeine fix and had already thrown my purse in the truck and just grabbed my gold card. (yes, I am that much of a fiend.) So I order my drink, I'm not offered a receipt and then the guy tells me I'm .30 short. For real? Thirty cents? You see I don't have my wallet or anything else besides my little I-am-consumed-by-being-a-consumer-of-Starbucks card and it's not like you can put the money back on my card. I don't know, I've had my whole coffee comped for no particular reason at other locations not just where I'm a regular but a few times out in Cali too so to send me out to my truck for 30 cents just annoyed me. Aside from that I managed to walk to my truck, being 9 months pregnant and slower than gosh darn molasses, and get back and my drink wasn't made. Did you assume I wasn't coming back and didn't offer to refund my money? This Starbucks just racks up all kinds of points for sucking.

  • christina w.

I have been a regular at this starbucks since they opened up, and don't plan on changing that. I have always enjoyed the staff, as ever-changing as that may be, and the thing I LOVELOVELOVE about Starbucks in general is the CONSISTENCY in the drinks. Can't find that at any mom and pop coffee shop. That's not to say I'm exclusive to Starbucks, I venture to Morning Brew, Kalapawai, and Muddy Waters when the times call for it.

I admit I have a starbuck's aversion, with that said this is one of the non alcoholic places you can go in Kailua after 8pm.

  • Angelo A.

Kailua town = WICKED crowded. I kid you not, the line was literally out the door!!! We were there on a Sunday morning, which may have contributed to the coffee rush, but we've been here at other days/times and there's always a line. That being said ...... They were extremely efficient (and pleasant) and the line moved very quickly. As I've come to know and frankly expect from Starbucks, the quality of coffee and treats were absolutely fantastic. Surprisingly, there was lots of parking - if you don't mind walking 50 yards or so to the lot facing Macy's .

    (4)
  • Sarah V.

This Starbucks is just okay. They always seem to be running out of everything (a lot of tourists come here) so I have a hard time getting the drink I want. They sell the typical novelty cups, straws and mugs. There is a decent amount of seating around the shop. They could definitely use some more seating inside. I think they could work on their customer service, a lot of the baristas couldn't answer my questions about what was in the drinks.

  • Krysten I.

This kailua starbucks is convenient if you find yourself near kailua town. It's also newly renovated, with a nice stone table outside. It is also a very popular starbucks, throughout the entire day; there always seems to be a line, even a short one, at the most random times. The baristas are very nice here and they usually have a variety of food options. I noticed that they changed the look of their menus recently, so not all their normal options are listed on the large menu. This isn't really a problem for me because I'm such a starbucks fanatic that being a starbucks barista would actually be a very fitting job for me :) I have had my fair share of awkward encounters here, particularly when it comes to other customers not realizing there is a line! Come on kailuans, be a little more observant! They just changed the layout of this store when they renovated, so the line switched directions, but that's really no excuse. Smh.

  • Sebastian F.

Great location - I love the outdoor patio where it's sunny and warm already at 9am. Way to start your day! The store also has large window fronts which are perfect for people watching (watch the Japanese tourists stroll by...). My to-go stop in town!

    (4)
  • Darin O.

Wow- this place is so not crowded even on a Sat morning. I guess people going to the beach do not need as much coffee out there on the Windward side. I'm on my way to Kailua Beach and stop off in Kailua town side to grab a drink to drink with my breakfast that I brought over the hill. I knew I wanted to eat and drink outside in the side since I don't know how well outside food is looked at over there in Kailua Town at inside places like Whole Foods. The place is really not crowded at all- 1 person in line and helpful staff not in the hurry that the Honolulu downtown barristers are in all the time. Coffee-wise. It is the same. I mean what o you expect- same good service, same tasting coffee. Just the fact that there are so many less people and so much more open seating outside especially. I'd never dream of going there before work- but hey on the weekends before beach now I know how easy it is compared to Kahala Starbucks on a normal Sat that has a line out the door- on a weekend! People seem so much more relaxed and not in a hurry at all.

    (3)
  • India R.

As always, quick service and it's never crowded at this particular location! Outdoor seating is a plus!

  • Logan M.

Wow service sucks here...i am a huge fan of starbucks and most of the starbucks i go to usually ask me if i want a receipt with a balance for my gold card or not. didn't even get asked that here so i asked for one. and when the served my drink they didn't call our my name or drink, i had to check the cup myself. oh and the straw that you usually get when they give you the drink? you can forget about that too. maybe it was just the staff working there during the time i went in, or maybe im just expecting too much from starbucks, but i think those things should come without question.

My favorite study spot when I'm on the Windward side. Caffeineatize me, Scotty!

  • Brandi C.

I was surprised to find that the morning crew here are fickle. I don't know what to expect when I walk into this place. No smiles and glares that imply my interrupting of the morning gossip. Smiles and greetings on other occasions, it all depends. As for me, I'll go where I'm treated like a guest.
