I was never a fan of indian food but this place is slowly changing that. The food is fantastic.. super fresh and of high quality. The food always come out quick and hot. There are so many authentic indian dishes on the menu that you'd have to keep on coming back to try new different things. The owners and waitstaff are very welcoming and nice. The roti/naan is always essential to any dish. Their lamb and any combination of curry are always great. Each curry have their own distinctive taste and ingredients. The popular tandoori chicken is a favorite too.. nicely marinated and perfectly cooked.

Driving home to Atlanta from Florida, we needed a place for dinner, and were not hopeful about finding good food in Valdosta, but we turned to Yelp and wrre pleasantly surprised by this find. This place is a little ways off the freeway, but worth the drive. Solid Indian cuisine, with ample vegetarian options. They start by bringing free pappadams and chutney, a nice touch. We ordered the veggie samosas, the mango curry with vegetables, malai kofta, and plain naan. All were very good and had our requested level of spiciness. The also have beer and wine. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. If we're ever back in Valdosta at dinnertime, we'll be back!

I came back to visit and was glad to see some Indian joints had moved into town. We stopped by for lunch and they only had the buffet available. Good selection with a variety of different curries and meats. My wife asked the waitress which ones were spicy but we were informed that none of them were spicy because the general population in the area doesn't like anything spicy. Too bad. But I guess have no fear of spicy if you're hitting the buffet.

Good lunch buffet! I've had much better Indian in my life but for the price and options, the lunch buffet here is pretty good. My favorite dishes there are the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Lamb Vindaloo.

While the place always has great food, I've noticed that the quantity of meat with entrees is on the lower side. I guess it means I'll order samosas and naan now to make sure I feel full (which isn't a problem), but it's still a bit disappointing to look at your entree and think "that's it?".

When I think of Valdosta I don't necessarily associate it as an epicurean capital. Despite this, there are a couple of gems and I believe that Passage 2 India is one of them. I have eaten here twice in the past 8 months as I live in Birmingham but have family in the area. Both times the food and service was surprisingly great. This last time we came in at 9:35 pm with a group of seven. It was apparent they were already cleaning up getting ready to close. They were happy to serve us anyway. The chef came out and talked to us and just asked what kind of meat and spicy level we wanted. He fixed us each something different in addition to a couple orders of naan and fritters. Everyone was very happy with their food and left completely stuffed. Passage 2 India will definitely be a regular stop when in Valdosta.

Literally, the worst food I've had in my entire life. The food on the buffet looked like stuff I would see in my baby's dirty diaper. Unfortunately, it didn't taste much better than it looked. I have friends who like this place, but after my first and only visit, I asked them not to invite me if they decide to go here.

Unexpected Pleasure Must stop if you are driving by on I-75. We found this place when stopping in Valdosta on the way from Orlando and were skeptical despite of good reviews. Boy were we surprised. Real family owned where the family is cooking the food. Nan, Methi Malai Chicken, Dal were out of this world. Chilli Chicken, Chat were spicy and really good. Their Nan is soft and tastes like it is in India. Service was prompt. They serve Indian Beers too.

I just recently visited Passage to India today. And I have to say it was crappy. The service was awful, the food was terrible and as I was trying to order some dessert she told me they were close mid day, which is understandable but since I am paying for my food and I'm telling you I was taking it go i don't understand why I could not finish my order. Thank you passage to India for that glorious experience.

Passage To India is amazing Indian food. The sauces are savory and the goat and lamb dishes are the best I have had anywhere. When my son comes to Valdosta from Atlanta for a visit his only request for a meal out is at Passage To India! I would also like to add that the waitstaff and in general everybody that works there are friendly and make you feel like part of the family.

Great find! Stopped in Valdosta for a rest from the road on an I-75 trip. As a vegetarian, Indian food a favorite. The rest of my crew of three too beat to go out to eat, so I turned to Yelp to find the right take-out, and landed here. The non-vegetarian in the group raved over his Tiki Masala. The Bindi Masala (okra with onions, tomatoes and spices) was absolutely some of the best I've found anywhere. The Yellow Dahl was very tasty. Five stars an easy call!

Best Indian food I have ever had. Wife wasn't sure she liked Indian food and now we eat here at least once a week. Friendly service, excellent food. Lamb Madras is delicious. Butter chicken is amazing. Naan breads are all great. Lamb saag is really good. I spend all my money here basically.

This is a vegan's dream restaurant in Valdosta! There are plenty of options on the buffet for vegans, and the staff brought us a special plate that was delicious too. The naan was fantastic. All of our carnivore friends were happy, too.

I stopped in here once before a few years ago with my co workers. It was awesome at the time. Firmly in the top 3 Indian that I have ever had. So I remembered the place and planned to return if I was ever in town. Flash forward to Wednesday. Driving to Florida for work, I hit it right at the lunch buffet. . . OH GOODIE... Indian Buffet! MEH. Just MEH. I wasn't impressed with the selection. It didn't taste that good and wasn't at all spicy. It's like they dumbed down the spice for lunch time morons or something. It's Indian food. It's GOOD spicy not bad spicy. And the last time we got decent service...as decent service as you can get at an Indian place. This time it was lackluster at best.

One of my favorites. Great food in a friendly environment.

Great Indian food. We went for dinner and ordered off the menu. Food was flavorful and wait staff was pleasant. We got chicken tikka masala and a lamb dish, and both were delicious. I would totally go back to check out the lunch buffet.

The food was great...pleasantly surprised to find a good indian food on our way to Fl! Service was excellent, our server was very pleasant and personable. Enjoyed our impromptu date night and good conversations :) will definitely be back next time we are on the road.

I've taken people from places with many, many restaurants available to them at all times, big places in the Northeast, and when they go back up there, they miss this little out-of-the way Indian restaurant in Valdosta. It's that good. While the buffet is fast and looks cheaper on the menu, it's a better deal to order from the menu if you have 15-20 more minutes. That way, you get hot, fresh curry, at the spice level you want, with newly-cooked rice. You often get enough in a menu portion for at least one take-home meal. (Hint: Make eggs benedict, except use leftover curry as hollandaise. It's amazing.) If you're a vegetarian in Valdosta, this is the place to go. Try a few of my favorite dishes made with paneer (cheese, made quite like Ricotta but pressed like tofu) - the Saag (Spinach) Paneer, Paneer Makhani, and Mutter Paneer. The vegetable samosas are pretty addictive, too. On the meat side of things, I have had a bit of the Tandoori Mixed Grill, which is served sizzling like fajitas, and it's great. You can order dishes mild, medium, spicy, or "Indian Spicy." Recently, it seems like the cooks aren't always distinguishing between the last two, and those options involve different peppers than usual. Not only do they taste different at first, they take on a whole other taste after sitting for a while as take-home leftovers. I don't prefer it, I'd recommend ordering Mild or Medium. At the end of the day, I can honestly say that I've been to quite a few Indian restaurants, but only one that even competes with Passage on the whole package, including taste, portions, and price, and that's Masala in Jacksonville. I can't teleport there, so I'll stay right here.

Surprisingly good Indian food in Valdosta. The Madras curry was my favorite. They make their naan in a tandoor. Good section of beers, to include Indian beers. The wait staff is solid. This is a good place for a date night.

So happy that Valdosta is just big enough to have an Indian Restaurant. This place is great, I especially like the lunch buffet!

Passage 2 India is a great restaurant, and I'm not just saying that because it's the only Indian restaurant in Valdosta. Went twice on the same weekend-once for the lunch buffet, and once for the regular dinner menu when visiting recently. Check it out if you're in town. I've been to several Indian restaraunts in other cities, and this is among the best. The food is authentic and delicious. Recommend trying the Garlic Naan bread and some of the vegetarian dishes. Try the Chai Tea for a good beverage with your meal. I used to think that vegetables were bland/soggy things your parents made you eat boiled and drenched with butter/salt because they were good for you. It took meeting an Indian friend who showed me that vegetables cooked Indian style are delicious and can provide adequate protein that normally is provided by meat. I'm not a vegetarian/vegan, but occasionally add a vegetarian meal into my diet for a change of pace. They serve traditional meats like Chicken/Lamb, which Americans are used to eating, but with an Indian twist. They also have goat meat dishes, which is considered semi-exotic by many Americans. That being said, Indian food can be very spicy for those who haven't tried it before. When the server says something is spicy, that means Very Spicy by american standards. In other words, don't ask for the food prepared spicy unless you are used to eating really spicy foods.

Went here once to get some authentic Indian food since this is the only place in town. We ate off the bar so we could try as much as possible. The food wasn't very hot and fresh. I assume this was because they weren't packed, but I would still hope that they keep the food fresh regardless if it is getting eaten or not. Have yet to go back to retry experience.

This place is delicious and the staff is great. I rotate between several vegetarian favorites: kaju (cashew) curry, vegetable saag, eggplant bharta.. I'm making myself hungry just thinking about them! I love their naan too, but if you're not great with spicy food, like me, don't order bullet naan. Lots of spice. :) My husband usually goes for chicken korma as spicy as they'll make it and he loves every bite. We too have taken many out-of-town guests here, and they're always happy. Highly recommend.

  • Carolyn W.

Very yummy food. Owners are welcoming. Only problem is the past couple of times my husband and I have eaten here we've felt sick after (not food poisoning, but just upset stomachs). Because of that I have mixed feelings about returning here, but the first few times I went and felt OK after I loved it.

We stopped here for the lunch buffet after reading the other great reviews on Yelp. Great selection and many veggie options. We both left very happy!

This is a jewel in the rough. I wish they had a billboard off the interstate bringing people into their restaurant. Best Indian food I have had in a restaurant. They also had a lot of dishes I can't find at other places. My only warning is that their food is TRUE Indian food. Not watered down for American folk. That means some dishes like their Gohst Vindaloo. Is very spicy at medium and the goat meat has bones. So ask many questions if you are not familiar. .

We were passing through Valdosta, late on a Sunday night. We didn't have high expectations for dinner but then found Passage 2 India. The restaurant was surprisingly busy for the hour. The service, food and price were all tops. Lots of vegetarian choices. The atmosphere was pleasant too: family oriented, casual and laid-back. I had the feeling that a lot of the patrons were regulars. We'd be here frequently if we lived locally.

I'm still trying to find Indian food I like, and I've tried, but Passage 2 India may have started me on a path to redemption. Part of the reason I picked this place was because it's one of the highest rated spots in Valdosta....and it's an Indian restaurant....in Georgia. This has to be something worth checking out. Yelp/Urbanspoon were right, it's worth it. $9 lunch buffet let me sample a little bit of everything and there wasn't a dish I didn't like. Amazingly enough, my favorite was the vegetarian korma, and I am a HUGE lover of meat, so that right there says something. The lamb was cooked to perfection, nice rich cubes of meat but soft and juicy. Almost everything was well spiced and flavorful. The only item I can really turn my nose up for was the tandoori chicken. Yes, what is pretty much the staple of Indian food in America was bland here. It looked perfect, was tender inside and had that nice hard crust outside, but just had no flavor. But that didn't matter, because everything else was delicious. I would have liked to see a few more meat dishes on the bar (there were only 3) but that just means next time I'm in Valdosta I'll have to order off the regular menu. There's a lot of goat dishes and goat is not something you see on many menus, even ethnic ones. One more highlight - the green chutney. We had to ask what it was and were told it's a house made blend of "pretty much everything green" - green tomatoes, green peppers, parsley, a hint of mint. Delicious on pretty much everything!

Too Legit. Too Legit to quit. This is an Indian resto in Valdosta, GA. Automatically 3 stars for that. I went to battle with their lunch buffet and was very pleased. They had mostly vegetarian options, I especially liked the zucchini. They did also have some lamb and tandoori chicken. I tried everything except the sag paneer and the iceberg lettuce salad bar. If I can eat my veggies with curry and ghee or with ranch... curry wins. every. damn. time. High points: Zucchini, chana, hot naan to your table (not in the buffet getting funky), pleasant server. They also have wifi, so after lunch I was able to send off some emails, and since it was at the tail of the rush they had no problem with me lurking. No side eyes or too much checking up. They let me do my thing. Weak points: Mango lassi was just too too sweet for me. Artificial Mango flavor perhaps? I don't have lassi on a very regular basis, but this was HUGE and very sweet. Could have passed on it for the next time. Then again, I was in South GA, so they probably just apply the same rules they do with sweet tea: mo' suga honey! On my next work trip, I will probably eat here every. single. day.

The food is ok over here. The server was really nice, and she did her best to pump it up. I guess I would eat here again. I've had better, and I've had worse.

I enjoy Indian food and since I just moved here from Atlanta I was a bit hesitant to try this place out. A friend visited from out of town and we decided to stop by. We ordered a goat curry dish, stewed okra, samosa, and naan. The goat curry was not bad except the meat was a bit tough. The stewed okra and naan were delicious. And the samosa was good. We also ordered chai which was okay we had to add sugar ourselves and it wasn't as flavorful as I prefer. I returned about a week later and had the lunch buffet. And that's when I decided this is my favorite restaurant in Valdosta. The selection was great, the quality was good considering it was buffet food, they also brought fresh nan to the table, the server was friendly, and it was reasonably priced. I liked how there was a variety of veggies to choose from and they had meat like chicken and lamb. Another plus, the desserts were really good. I couldn't ask for more.

A hidden gem in Valdosta. Looks small from the outside, plenty of room on the inside. Terrific food, try the regular naan for example. The sauces are incredible, everything was fresh and flavorful, really good. The staff was happy and friendly, it was nice to be in a restaurant where the staff seemed to like their jobs! Try this place, you'll go back.

My first time dining at an Indian restuarant. The waiter was very gracious in answering my questions, explaining the menu, and making suggestions. The food my daughter and I ordered was absolutely DELICIOUS!!!!!!! Service was excellent!!! We will definitely be visiting Passage 2 India often. They have an expansive menu and I look forward to sampling many other dishes. I recommend that you give them a try!!!

I loved everything that was on the lunch menu. My favorite was the carrot halva. It was great! The nan bread was fantastic. The only reason I gave it a 4 was the bathroom. The toilet seat was wobbly. The families of the workers came in to eat at the end of the lunch buffet. That shows they trust their food if the kids eat it!

As far as I know this is the only Indian food restaurant in Valdosta and the food is great. The menu is well organized by the various styles of Indian cuisine. The naan bread they serve comes in many varieties and the food is prepared to your specific requests. The staff is very attentive and courteous.

Passage 2 India was my first introduction to Indian cuisine, and oh man, am I hooked now! The menu is expansive and well-organized. They've taken the time to fully explain the dishes so you always know what you're getting into before you order. Anything that would typically register as hot to the western palate can be ordered mild, medium, or hot. If you like spicy food at all, though, don't sell yourself short and get medium. Go for the hot! The Vindaloo Chicken is the perfect example of this. It's really, really spicy, but it's the kind of heat that hits you on the first bite and never intensifies or becomes painfully hot. The service is very good, and both times I've visited, it's been a calm, quiet, laid back dining experience. Plates will be on the table when you arrive or shortly thereafter, because all dishes are served family-style. My boyfriend and I usually order two very different entrees so that we can sample more from the menu without having to shuffle plates around like at most places! Things to absolutely not miss: The chai. OMG, the chai. Cast aside your notions of thick, sweet, syrupy spiced milk with a hint of tea. Their chai is served hot and unsweetened. It's rich and delicious, and perfectly seasoned. We added one packet of sugar to each cup, which perfectly offset the bitterness of the tea without upstaging the spices. All in all, it is heavenly. The garlic naan. Thin, fresh-baked flat bread, absolutely COVERED in fresh garlic. Words fail it, but be sure to order some. It's amazing. The aforementioned Vindaloo Chicken. Tender, juicy, perfectly seasoned chicken in a fire-y curry. What's not to love? ANYTHING INVOLVING LAMB. I swear this place can do no wrong when it comes to lamb. I've tried and LOVED several of their lamb dishes, and will keep coming back for more. Long story short, this is absolutely one of the best restaurants in Valdosta, and I really hope your adventurous streak gets the best of you and you give it a shot!

I don't know a ton about Indian food but this place has a great buffet. Went here for lunch on a Saturday. The place was pretty empty but it was awesome becuase there were no lines or waits. I tired almost everything in the buffet line and liked everything. The service was great and the price was right. About $10 for all i could eat lunch. I will definitely be going back.

My wife and I eat here for lunch 4 days a week. No watered down restaurant crap. This is real food with real flavors. Everything is fresh. Buffett daily with rotating dishes everyday. The foods on the buffett arent as spicy as you can order. Be careful if you go hot though. These guys don't play around.

On the road from Dayton to Sarasota we stopped in Valdosta overnight and looked at reviews of several restaurants and ended up here on a Saturday evening. We were seated immediately, given menus and water, brought some tasty papadam and had our order taken. The pleasant ambience was enlivened by three groups of 6-8 diners chatting cheerfully as well as numerous couples; at least half the diners appeared to be of Indian descent. My wife and I each ordered lamb korma and shared an order of roti. Both were excellent...the lamb was very tender and the sauce was finely spiced, very creamy and satisfying. The roti was freshly made and had a nice combination of crispness and chewiness, just perfect for dipping in the korma sauce. We'll be stopping here on future trips!

Excellent food and great service. The only negative is that they hit you with a service fee. I inquired as to this charge and was told that it is for "service", which to me, is the purpose of a tip. I suspect they add this, due to some folks not leaving tips. Definitely a great place to dine with the family.

When I first came to Valdosta, a city I'd never heard of prior to the new job, my initial concern ― literally: I brought it up during the job interview ― was finding a good Indian restaurant. At that time, much to my chagrin, there wasn't even a bad one. Soon, however, one opened; the fates mocked me, though, as it was terrible. Then some improvement; then closed; then new management; and then who knows? The only thing I know for certain is that, at long last, there was indeed a good Indian restaurant in town ― better, even, than one I'd visited in Tallahassee (and I've sampled the fare at Indian restaurants from Edinburgh, Scotland to Murphreesboro, Tennessee). Several years on, and Passage to Indian is still superb. Whew! For a while there, thought I might have to start looking for a new job.

Just a joy to have something like this in Valdosta. Those familiar with the town will understand that there are not many exotic options, so this is certainly a must try. Like most Indian places, the Buffet is quite the treat. Can't beat the amount of food available for the price. The entrees are great and there are tons of options. Sometimes I am a bit turned off by the portion sizes though. You would think they could be generous with rice or some of the cheaper chicken dishes. Everyone that works there is very polite and friendly and they provide excellent service. Can definitely recommend !
