Been searching for GOOD Thai food in Atlanta and this is now on top of the list. The struggle is real when you are looking for good Thai food in Atlanta. Sure, Atlanta has good Pho or Korean but chinese and Thai are missing from the landscape. Sure you can find "American" versions of Thai but the flavors all are a bit bland and just not quite there. So when in this area, we pulled up Yelp and searched for a new spot to try. Thank you YELP. When we arrived, I will admit that most people might not walk in. It is a hole in the wall. But that does not scare me. It was the Sunday of Labor day weekend at about 6:00pm and we were the only ones in the restaurant. So I was a bit worried about the freshness of the food, but that was not a problem. We started with the Coconut soup. I first judge any Thai restaurant on if they can make a good bowl of coconut soup. This one wasn't bad but also not the best in town. They use coconut milk (which a lot of places do) but the soup was thin. I Highly recommend that pl;aces should use coconut cream as it gives a much better richness and mouth feel. But the flavors in the soup were good. A bit expensive at $4 a small bowl. I would most likely skip this next visit. I had the Panang Curry and wife had the Pad Thai. While I ordered my Panang "Thai hot", it was not very spicy at all. My wife ordered her Pad Thai "spicy" but it was not spicy either. That is ok, we can add heat later and I understand why the restaurant is careful with this. Many people order something "Thai hot" but do not really want something that spicy. A little chili paste and powder fixed that right up. The flavors of the food are what matter. The pad thai was one of the best I have had. No need for lime, flavor was in there. No need for wanting for depth of flavor because it had it. The curry was also good, once I got the heat balanced where I wanted it all the flavors rang through. The service was good and it is definitely and mom and son ran place. Mom was wonderful and welcoming. You could tell they took pride in what they did and wanted their guests to have a great experience. While this place is a bit far from our home in Loganville, it may be worth the special trip down and is going to be on the list anytime I happen to be in the area craving some good food.

You'll find Yum Yum Thai in the same shopping center as the newly moved Handy Hardware. The food here is solid with fresh ingredients and a good mix of flavors. They'll also accommodate you if you're looking for some extra heat. Service is excellent (I've only eaten there for lunch). I'm not sure how busy they are for dinner. In any case, it's nice to have some variation in Tucker, especially on the spicy side. The food is more in the 3.5/5 range but I'm rounding up because I like the people here so much. Lunch is well under $10 and the the portion is large.

The restaurant is in a dilapidated strip shopping center. Only about 1/8th of the stores are still occupied. I was very reluctant to visit the restaurant, but there were a lot of people at the restaurant. I've visited India, so I should be able to handle anything. The restaurant's decor is..ambiguous? Old and dated, but comfortable and somewhat Thai like. We were greeted enthusiastically by our waiter. We only saw one other employee. Mom ordered pad see ew and I ordered pad thai for lunch. The menu wasn't extensive, but they offered basic Thai dishes. The vegetable spring roll was good, but very greasy. Mom liked her pad see ew. That's nothing new, since she loves all food. I ordered my pad thai with tofu at level 3 out of 4 spiciness. It still wasn't hot enough, but I asked for the spicy condiments and that helped. The pad thai was far from the best I've had and far from the worst I've had. It was extremely mediocre. It had a bit of a weird taste. One really great thing about the menu is that all the menu items can be ordered with tofu for vegetarians. The tofu is cooked perfectly. I have very high standards for restrooms and Yum Yum did not meet that standard. It felt dirty and dated. Our waiter was one of the nicest waiters I have ever met. He liked my elderly mother, so he gave her a thai tea to take with her, since she went crazy over the tea we ordered. It was way too sweet for me, but I don't like sweet drinks. He packaged our takeout food for us and put our drinks in to-go cups. The price for 2 meals and 2 drinks was less than $17.00. The lunch portions are ginormous. Maybe I will give Yum Yum another chance. I'm interested in trying one of the curries. Having experienced some amazing pad thai from restaurants that are no longer in business or are in different cities, I'm still on a quest to find some outstanding pad thai. I'm starting to think that I need to stick with the curries and other noodle dishes.

My girlfriend introduced me to this gem! Service here was amazing, the hostess is very friendly and keeps your drinks refilled. The Oceanica with Basil has Sea Scallops, Shrimp, Squid and Mussels, Bell Pepper, Bamboo Shoots, Celery, Carrots, and Onions in a Spicy Basil Sauce. The seafood was perfectly cooked, the veggies were still crisp and I asked for really spicy and this chef delivered a dish that not only was delectable but all of the different flavors were very well balanced including the spiciness. The Thai Iced tea was good as well. Awesome Service, Delectable food and drink, and very inexpensive, for both my girlfriend and I the tab was only about $35

I am going to give this place three stars for now. I most definitely want to come back here because it wasn't by any means terrible - I just think what I ordered was terrible. Hopefully I will be able to come back in the future, and try this again and change the rating. The place is located in a strip mall about a mile from my house. It is a dingy, little corner restaurant with a big spirit - you can tell by all the newspaper and magazine articles detailing it's incredible culinary ventures. I was pleased to find that it isn't the streamlined, sophisticated Thai place that I find so often in Atlanta. Interior is nice and clean, but still dingy. I am a fan. The menu is great, good selection... seems authentic. I ordered the Drunken Noodles - I lived in Thailand for a bit but I never had this dish but heard good things. I was pretty disappointed. It lacked any flavor. All these veggies and little tofu. No spice at all. It was just blah. The tofu tasted pan fried and was amazing and the noodles were great, but the flavor was so mundane and the ratio of meat to noodle so off that I just took it home and poured sriracha all over it. Other people at our table complained that is wasn't spicy - maybe they make food not spicy to appease the American palate, but I would have liked to have an option of making it spicier during preparation. That being said, the waiter was so nice and friendly and said "Good choice" when we picked our items out. Very affirming. The service was unbelievably quick. So overall, it wasn't a bad experience. However, the food was so unmemorable that I wouldn't even bother to go back unless I believed that this place had more to offer. So for now I give it three stars with the hope that I will go back and find that what I ordered was the only mundane thing on the menu.

This restaurant is located in the corner within a plaza off of Lawrenceville Hwy. If you know where the Grecian Gyro is located then that's the plaza I'm speaking of. The sign is very plain and simple (like a white board and i used a red dry erase marker to write on it), which could make the place deceiving at first. Makes you think twice before wanting to enter. Check out my picture I uploaded and you'll understand why. I came here for the first time with a friend who has been here years before. It's definitely a mom and pop shop and a hole in the wall. SERVICE was on point. Water refills and all. FOOD: As an appetizer we ordered pan-fried dumplings. They were crispy dumplings consisted of pork and vegetables inside. They were okay--nothing too exciting. As an entree, I ordered the Panang Curry ( I chose chicken over shrimp and it comes with white rice) and my friend ordered the Red Curry (choice of meat and comes with white rice) off of the Lunch Menu. Each entree was about $7. Both entrees tasted delicious. Although they were tasty, I noticed that there weren't a lot of chicken added. There were a lot of belle peppers and other vegetables. The portion was fairly smaller compared to other Thai places I have been to considering the price. Overall, not too shabby. Don't let the exterior make you not want to try it out because this place has a very clean interior and well decorated. I just wish they invested in a new sign.

My favorite take out place for Thai. The food is good and can't beat their prices with a stick. I love all of their curry dishes. Spring rolls are great too. The spicy basil rice is highly recommended too. Their pad Thai is not my favorite...a little too much fish sauce. Nothing near a five star restaurant but in the low standard take out category, I'll give it a solid 5.

  • Don D.

Don't let the outside discourage you. Once inside you'll forget about the plaza. They are more Thai comfort food than high end cuisine. The staff is always friendly and provide great service. It's also a great value for the price. Their coconut chicken soup (Tom Kha Gai) is my ultimate I'm sick comfort food.

No problems with the food quality (the beef dish and the noodles were both good), but portion sizes were pretty small (even for the noodle dish, and noodles are cheap), and they only gave us one small bowl of rice even though we got two entrees. I probably *could* have gotten more rice, had I gotten up and gone to the counter/register area, but they didn't check up on us at all. We almost never dust our meals, but we dusted the meals, the one small bowl of rice, and the spring roll appetizers. We won't let it deter our culinary adventures in the Tucker/Clarkston/proposed Lakeside City region, though..

The owner of the restaurant is always friendly, unfortunately the quality is not what it once was. My boyfriend and I wanted to relive our first visit there ordering a pad thai and a basil chicken. The pad thai was okay. The noodle to meat ratio was way off, and the vegetables and garnishes didn't taste anywhere near as fresh as they did at our previous visits. The basil chicken though was the biggest let down ever. My favorite Thai dish just completely and utterly butchered. It was American Chinese style with lots of oily soy sauce looking sauce in it. Almost no basil whatsoever. Vegetables were not fresh. Chicken was not tasty juicy or tender. It was just awful. I suppose the fact that our dinner was so horrible does make things easier for us in the future when trying to decide between which Thai restaurant to eat at in Tucker.

Love this place for lunch. The price is great and the service is also. I always get the same thing, panang curry with chicken or shrimp. The portion is very filling and I love the spring roll that comes with it.

Lunch options are numerous in Metro Atlanta, so it's always disheartening to see that so many of those options comprise anonymous, predictable chains (Longhorns, Outback, Chilis) or fast food gut-bombs (you know who you are). So it is great to find a little strip-mall gem like Yum Yum Thai. For a place like this to survive against the marketing power of the predictably mediocre, clean and good value options mentioned above, they need to be great, and, thankfully, Yum Yum Thai is pretty darned awesome. I had the Massuman curry and the flavors were just right. It is spicy (medium) enough to not overwhelm the delicate aromas but has enough kick to make you appreciate the fact that this is not just something you picked up at Panda Express. Staff are attentive and friendly, lunch special prices are super-reasonable and the place was clean and vibrant. Definitely worth seeking out if you're looking for lunch in northeast Metro.

We visited because of the good reviews and although the location and ambience was very understated as mentioned unfortunately the food was as well. Service was just OK...maybe we visited on an off night but we won't be returning

This is my favorite Thai Restaurant in the World! Eat here and you won't be disappointed. Try the Whole Snapper, or the Dyno-Mite Red Curry, or the oh so spicy Green Curry mmm yum yum! Any thing you order on or off the menu will come to your table fresh, hot and spicy cooked by the Owner/Chef Nicky and served with a great big smile by your Hostess/Server/Owner Nat. They're a great couple and they run a great place. Enjoy and come often

I've been going here for the past 10 years and the service and food has always been consistent. The owners and staff are always so friendly and attentive-sometimes overly so. But I always feel like I'm a guest here, instead of just another patron. I highly recommend the basil duck. I have never had duck the way they prepare it here. It's all deboned duck breast, with a spicy sweet brown sauce with bell peppers. Deliciously mind-blowing! Others that I've brought here rave about their drunken spaghetti, but since I don't like spicy I've stayed away from it. The papaya salad is spot on and great!

I've grown to anticipate food more when they're tucked in the corner of an abandoned or run down strip mall. Those forgotten restaurants usually offer up some awesome food. Yum Yum Thai is in one of those very strip malls, and their staff was very friendly and fast, both fantastic signs. I got their drunken noodle with chicken, which didn't come with a spring roll, so I also ordered spring rolls (2) for a total of about $12 to go. The flavor was far from what i'd consider the best Thai i've had, but it's a decent meal that's simply "okay". The noodles were slightly bland and there just wasn't a ton of flavor to work with here. I was asked how spicy I wanted it and maybe I should've said spicy, because "normal" spice had no kick at all. Benefit of the doubt given...I usually get cashew nut chicken as my Thai barometer, and I chose not to this time, so i'll give them another shot just for that test alone. Spring rolls are fried, tiny, and come with dipping sauce, but they're pretty good, and don't let the size of the outside fool you, as it's a spacious restaurant with lots of seating. I'm giving yum yum four stars because like everyone says, the service is great, and while I waited for my order, a glass of water was poured for me and regulars showed up and the server would greet them, ask about specific things and treated them like friends. That's awesome. The flavor and spice of the food were simply okay though, and based on that alone, it'd be a three star.

Uh, y'all crazy. Yum Yum is my favorite Thai place, second only to Top Spice, but less expensive which puts it right back on par. 1) The service is awesome. The lady who runs the place ALWAYS asks about my mom, dad, and sister. She is quick on the water refills, too. 2) The food is delicious. Spicy fried rice, panang curry, green curry, prig king, cashew chicken? All good. Spring rolls and fried squid are winning appetizers. Thai iced coffee and iced tea are standard, but tasty. Last night we tried the curry fried rice for the first time, and it was pretty freakin' good too. 3) Thai food, and it's in Tucker. I'm sure Tucker is a real up-and-comer in the minds of Tucker residents, but mostly there's that shitty soda fountain and a couple dingy bars. Oh, and a Wal-Mart. So finding a Thai restaurant with actual Thai people working in it is a pretty big deal on that stretch of L'ville Hwy. The decor leaves something to be desired, but again, aside from Top Spice I can't think of one Thai restaurant that has a great interior. I get kind of sad when I eat at Yum Yum because 8 times out of 10, I'm the only table in there. If they ever close, I'll have to drive ALL THE WAY to Toco Hills. I have a soft spot for mom-and-pop restaurants, but that soft spot turns into an all out rotten patch (that's how it works on apples right? And bananas? Figured it was the same with people...) when the food is actually good. Maybe if you're nervous about eating at Yum Yum (because of the other reviewers who clearly have no taste), try the lunch special which is even cheaper than regular prices. And since it's your lunch break you can be in a hurry, and not really judge them too harshly on the ambiance.

There are two awkward moments for me in Yelping, and I am currently seeing a therapist about it. First is when I read all the good reviews about a place and drive over with a puppy dog smile and phantom tail wagging just to be hit in the nose with a rolled up paper. Second is the insane, and what i assume is Catholic, guilt about giving a review that goes against the flow, especially when I respect the opinions of the Yelper's that have gone before me. Yum Yum Thai has brought me again to this dark place. I wanted to like it, to love it. I brought friends there, confident that it would be great. I told them to ignore the worn strip center, the dated decor. I said all the right things: "You can't judge a book by it's cover" and "The best restaurants are these hole in the walls" etc. But when the food arrived there was no more need for such platitudes, it spoke for itself. It was good, A-OK, but not what I had built it up to be. The tofu appetizer was decent, but not impressive. Thai dishes are usually visually appealing, something I appreciate, but the dishes here were plain and unassuming. Our group had Pad Thai, curry dishes, noodle dishes. All were good, just not great. the service was friendly, the prices fair. In the end three stars is a good rating, and Yum Yum Thai is a good restaurant. I think I have found peace with myself, can't wait to tell my shrink!

My fave thai restaurant. Me and my family have been going here for 10 years. The staff is extremely friendly. The food is consistantly awesome. My top picks are the drunken noodles, fried rice, fried chicken wings, spring rolls, thai tea, and thai donuts. This food is soooo good. Nothing fancy just a good home cooked thai meal. In my opinion you cant get better thai at such amazing prices.

The first time I came here was back in 2007 (with Ferdinand H.- see his 5/23/2007 review)- and I never came back- not because it wasn't good, but it was a bit out of the way for me. Tonight, we had a party for a few Emory SPH graduates, and with a table of 12, it was a rather big deal considering the small size of the place. But the service turned out great- our rice and our water was refilled often, the staff was friendly, and none of our orders got lost. I'll just describe some of the food I had (or shared with others): 1) Crispy fried tofu- Eh. The dipping sauce is a sweet syrupy type of sauce littered with finely ground peanuts- nothing special. I'd pass on it if given another chance. (2.5) 2) Penang Curry with Chicken- This curry, while simple, was rich in flavor, and hearty with the ingredients. We saved the leftover sauce- could serve as a meal just with rice! (4.25) 3) Drunken Noodles with Beef (Hot)- Well, we asked for the '3 chili' designation in regards to spiciness, and we got it. It was just right- got the sweat going, but didn't numb out the taste buds. Well done, with balanced flavors. (4.25) 4) Basil Duck- Slices of fried duck in a soy-based sauce over some vegetables. If the sauce was to the side, the crispness of the fried duck would've come out a lot better. Decent, nothing crazy good. (3) 5) Red Curry Duck- Similarly fried duck in a red curry- honestly, the curry made this dish shine. I think this place just knows their curry, and does it well. Hearty tasting, good stuff (4) 6) Green Curry with Chicken- Our friend chose to have the 'mild' version of this curry, so it didn't tickle the tongue- a bit sweet for green curry, but not bad. (3.5) I left quite stuffed (although that could be because I had 2 lunches this afternoon...)...and impressed with how good the food was here. It's worth coming here again, and definitely sooner than 2 years! A solid 4 overall.

I love Thai, I love spicy food, I love curry, I love quick and good service. I get all of those when I order food at Yum Yum. It's a bit out of the way, unless you live in Tucker, but this place is worth the drive. They have some of the best red curry I've ever tasted. The staff is always very friendly and patient if I can't immediately figure out what I want. I give 4 stars only because I've never eaten in the restaurant - I always pick up my order.

Eh.... Not that great. I've been in worse Thai Places, but off hand I'm having a hard time remembering what. Not even sure what I ate here, the food was so mediocre. Menu was devoid of a lot of items I consider "standard Thai," food.

Been here twice, and I just wasn't impressed. Thai food for people around Atlanta seems to be like BBQ, everybody has a different opinion on what they think is good. First of all, the place is in one of the most unattractive strip malls I've ever seen. Super old school. Inside, it's a dark and dank atmosphere with various cookie cutter pictures on the wall. Doesn't look like this place has ever had an upgrade. The front of the menus looks like someone drew on it with a crayon. First time I went, I ordered food to go (because of the weird dining room) and as I walked up to the counter, I noticed that there was a woman cutting up raw chicken on a table outside of the kitchen and kind of close to the fountain soda machine. Basically, using part of the servers station to prep chicken. Okay, breathe. I proceeded to order the chicken Pad Thai even though in my head I was thinking "don't order anything with chicken". Doh! My next thought after my order was placed was "please don't let that woman prepping raw chicken be the one who cooks my order." The waiter casually passed the ticket right into her salmonella paws. "Certain death" I thought. Anyway, my food came out and I didn't get sick or anything, just thought that was a funny story. My pad-thai was just okay and I little greasy. Spring rolls were cookie cutter freezer to fryer variety. Curries are okay, but really nothing to write home about. Service seems very nice and they do have a loyal following with the locals. You can also get your food nuclear hot here if you want. I really wanted to like this place since it's close to where I live in Decatur, but it's just alright. I will give it another chance or two and it gets better, I'll certainly update the review. Man, I really miss the now defunct Thai One On and My Thai. Decatur and the surrounding area really need some better Thai.

PRICEY for a hole in the wall................... My brother and I decided to give this place a try to see what all the reivews were about..... yep.... most were right......... 3 stars....... We went there for lunch on Thu. Ordered; red curry, Pad thai and something that wasn't on the menu. The dishes tasted ok but very small servings considering what the price was. I notice one of my favorite dish call "Yum Nua" was bout $8.... WOW did I tell this was a little pricey! I didn't order that but I ask our waitress that there was no "SomTum" on the menu. She said they can make it for us, so we ordered it hot. It was definitely made fresh with green papaya, tomatoes and cabbage but was missing dried shrimp and green beans. Not authentic.... guess it's their way of making it..... Overall..... the place is too pricey to have minimal servings of mediocre Thai food......... If you got $12-$15 per person for lunch.... give it a shot!

The food is ok, nothing to rave over. The lady who greets, serves is kind of creepy. Anyway, maybe i've been spoiled going to Thai restaurant of norcross all these years? noticed small gnats flyging around, haven't gone back.

If my family were Thai, this might be the kind of place we'd run- straight-forward, tasty, simply and honest good food. Nick and Nat run a nice place here amid the debris of an old strip mall (yes- its pretty bleak on this stretch of L'Ville Hwy.) Remember- Thai people like it REALLLY HOT, so "mild" is your friend here. I LOVE the Spicy Basil Catfish- as about the whole fish entrees- Nick does amazing things off the menu and always worth asking about. Their Tom Ka Gai is the best as are the salads- (Yum means salad in Thai) Mom loves the Red Curry with Tofu- she's always generous- but NOT with this- "Get your own!" Pat will eat pretty much anything on the menu and finds a new fav each time. They've since moved away from ATL but Nat always asks about them. Actually, I feel like family whenever I enter Yum Yum- hopefully you will too!

Dinner. Ordered: - Golden crispy tofu appetizer - ain't all that until you dip these fried things into the panang curry - Panang curry with chicken - the tastiest thing of the night - Drunken noodle with beef - more like oily noodle with beef... - Thai iced tea - this was the first Thai iced tea I've had where I actually was able to see there was tea in the glass... If that makes sense... Very friendly and observant service. Price not too bad. If I went again I would definitely order the panang curry.

Yum Yum's menu is neither the most extensive, nor the most flambouyant, nor is does it serves immensely complex dishes. None of the unusual dishes are here -- nor are any of the more "off the beaten path" sort of ingredients. But it's well priced, unpretentious, flavourful and authentic. The decor is non-descriptly thai (including the requisite painting of the KING! (of Thailand, not Elvis) and the music is banal. All the same, you won't be paying too much for good, solid food with accurate flavours. Not very spicy though. Even when I asked for something brutal. 4 minus.

Once Beefstix closed we went to the nearest Thai place in Tucker and only had to drive one mile away to find yum yum Thai. its appearance seemed very pleasant, with midi 90s songs playing, and the outside of the store is plastered with different newspapers and articles saying how this made Best Of Atlanta 2001. Unfortunately, the food still tastes like it was made in 2001. We came here with good intentions on finding a place to match Beefstix, so we ordered a similar meal. The Spicy Spaghetti and Pork Fried Rice. Before our meal arrived, we got water refills, 3 mins later another water refill. I can honestly say we had our water refilled 20 times, i raised my hand and told him it wont be necessary after awhile because i didn't even drink anything. they brought us this large helping of rice, which you can never have enough of at most asian places. Regardless our food hadn't arrived, we were hungry enough that we just ate plain rice. the lady there pointed out that the rice didn't come with the meal and took it away. We asked her to leave it and she took it anyway; how rude! The meal was very very dry. I tried eating it but just couldn't get the flavor. I had to say something and asked if i could get anything to make the dish more moist. they added a sauce to it which i will admit was very good but it was the only way I could finish my meal. the spaghetti was also less than it could have been and lacked the spicy that Spicy Spaghetti should have. I will say the look of the place is very nice and comfortable, but the food lacks anything to make you want to return as well as gallons upon gallons of water refills.

Thanks to Todd P for getting me over (literally, he drove!). The employees seem to recognize all the returning diners. The food was really good, I had the Cashew Chicken, without the mushrooms. It was the perfect portion size, with fresh Jasmine rice. The name fits the food, Yum Yum Thai! I'm not very adventurous, outside of beef and chicken, and seafood and me don't get along, but something for everyone!

It isn't much to look at but the service is top notch and I can't get enough their red curry with chicken, 3 peppers please! I've tried other things on the menu but the red curry is my favorite. Makes me sad I moved so far away from this place.

Thai food is one of my favorites. Green Curry with Chicken and Spring Rolls are my constant go-to, and the order with which I judge all of my thai restaurant visits. I have heard about this place for a while, mostly when searching for a thai place nearby but have just now tried it tonight. I thought the spring rolls were great. Very much what you expect, flavored fine, the dipping sauce, while brightly colored, was quite tasty. The green curry with chicken was great, however, I asked for hot, and got something that I wouldn't even call medium. There's even 3 large Xs written on the lid. Something to keep in mind for the future. The whole dish doesn't taste like it's been cooked for very long... not that it's undercooked, but when you cook curry, as well as most flavorful things, the longer you cook it, the more flavor there will be. I will be returning to Yum Yum again, keeping in mind the lack of heat. I'll also be trying other dishes. The parking lot is a bit sketchy looking and feeling, but the only grouping of cars there are for the restaurant. Oh, and I look forward to trying the lunch service... always a great way to get a good value with thai restaurants in particular!

The only reason it deserves 1 star was for the spring rolls and decent service. We were there with our young family. Other than having high chairs, I would not consider this a kid friendly restaurant. They have no kid's menu and we were brought styrofoam cups with no lids for my 4 and 2 yo. The chicken satay was dry and overcooked and the sauces were watered down. My husband's massaman curry was bland. We were so disappointed because we love Thai food!

Solid Thai, run by Thai! Yum Yum, as silly as they name is...is a great restaurant run by a hard working family that is always eager to please and offers high quality Thai food at very competitive prices. I personally think their duck dishes (whether it may be curry or basil) are better than L'Thai, a worthy competitor in Tucker. Though their food is not organic (for the ones that care...I don't), this spot is a hidden gem in Tucker!

I have a group of co-workers that go here on a weekly basis and have been for the past 4+ years. On the weeks I am able to join them, I enjoy the spicy basil chicken, drunken noodles, or one of their curries. A lot of people seem to enjoy the pad thai, but I'm not personally a big pad thai fan. I highly suggest Yum Yum if you're in the mood for some Thai food, especially at lunch time. Their lunch menu offers a good variety of well priced meals.

This is such a great little hole in the wall. It is on my way home from work, so I stop in occasionally for some quick dinner. Homemade Thai that is authentic and delicious with great service. Who woulda thunk it in a seedy crappy strip mall?

First of all, the name Yum Yum is just great. How could that not be a fun place to eat? It's tucked away in the corner of a strip mall in Tucker, but don't let that deter you, as it seems to have a very steady local following. It's a very basic dining room with maybe a 15 tables and booths, decorated with the typical royal family portraits you see in every thai restaurant. The curries are all excellent. I particularly like the green curry. Also, you MUST try the thai spring rolls and the crispy duck. They cook duck so insanely well there that it's a magical experience: crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside. Order the duck! Other people I've been there with also spoke highly of the fish dishes. Also, ask for the food extra hot if you like spicy food. I've found that they hold back on the chili for the american clientele.

Based on the reviews I had to try this place. The service was great, and the ladies were very nice. I was a bit disappointed in the Pad Thai, but then my friend wanted to order the beef, and I normally only eat chicken or shrimp pad Thai.. but there was not much egg, and all the veggies.. the duck basil was very tasty! and I guess the Thai ice tea was bland and sugary cause my friend did not really drink , and from the looks of the ice tea, it looked not like it was fully w/ creamed like alot of the other traditional Thai ice tea's. But overall the food was good and the service was very pleasant. Parking was in a huge lot. I would definitely come again to try the other dishes.

I can't rave enough about Yum Yum. It's not fancy. It's in the corner of the confusingly named Town Square Center strip mall. But this is the place to go for down-home Thai cooking. Flawless service, great prices. It's just a joy to be there. Must-haves are any of the curries (the green curry and the three flavor sauce are particularly luscious) and the spring rolls, but I've never ordered anything I didn't like.

I have a problem with this place.....I want to eat there for lunch at LEAST 3 times a week. This is not good for my wallet!! Their massaman curry is so tasty that I want to lick the plate when I'm done! *slurp*

Umm...YUM! I know that's cheesy to say but it's definitely appropriate. Yum Yum Thai kicks some serious booty. I dined here last night with a couple of friends who are also Thai food lovers and we had a fantastic dinner. The place has a very down-home, comfy feel -- nothing fancy, that's for sure. I got a kick out of the menus, the front page displaying "Yum Yum Thai" written in what I swear is Elmer's glue sprinkled with gold glitter. Haha! We were in the mood for basil rolls and green papaya salad for starters but they weren't listed on the menu. No matter...we asked, they delivered. The papaya salad was particularly delicious with freshly shredded green papaya, flattened out green beans, fresh red Thai chillies, peanuts, lime, etc. For our entrees, we ordered the Yum Yum Shrimp, Penang Seafood Curry and the Duck with Basil Sauce. Each was delicious, but the duck was the stand out. Tulie L. recommended this dish to me when she heard I was going to try out the restaurant and she was spot on! Perfectly cooked, crispy skin on the duck meat, tossed with bell peppers, onions and Thai basil in a tasty sauce. I'm sorry, I just have to say it again -- yum! The Penang seafood was delicious in a sweeter sauce made with coconut milk and included shrimp, scallops, squid and mussels. And the Yum Yum shrimp had a generous portion of shrimp in a sauce we thought tasted slightly smokey, with onions, peppers and egg. All in all, one of my best Thai meals in Atlanta.

The Summary: By far the best Thai Restaurant I have ever been to, and that includes the ones in Thailand, California Bay Area, and Seattle. This place is easily my favorite restaurant with friendly waitresses (they're almost all female) and the owner and her husband are incredibly sweet, knowledgeable people who go out of their way to feel welcome. Since my first visit, I've been to that restaurant at least 100 times and each time the food was amazing. Nobody I've taken has ever said anything less than it was amazing and I've taken anybody from my parents who live in Asia to some incredibly southern friends. As a warning, when they spicy, they mean it! The Background: Don't get scared off by the name, I know I was. This little hole in the wall restaurant is located in a run down strip mall that doesn't exactly encourage people to visit. However, once you step into the restaurant, you walk into a tastefully decorated welcoming restaurant. Throughout the years, they have done some remodeling but tut it's stayed mostly the same The Positives: The food is far and away the best thai food I've ever had. You'll notice on the outside, the windows and door is plastered with reviews of pretty much every critic who states that YYT is a phenomenal restaurant. Pretty much anything on the menu is good but my personal favorites are the spicy basil, the red curry, and the masaman curry. Further, the service is absolutely amazing. They serve you rice, refill you're plate with rice if you're running low, and I have never seen anybody's water cup get below the halfway point. To top it off, the prices are incredibly cheap with ~$6 lunch specials and ~$10 dinner entrees. The Negatives: The only negative of this restaurant is that it'll spoil you and make you feel sad that not every other restaurant is as amazing.

I've traveled the world and hands down the best Thai I've eaten! The Basil Duck would be my death row final meal.

One of my favorite Thai restaurants! It's a shame the shopping center has declined which means they don't get the customer volume that will sustain them.

Yum Yum Thai is my favorite Thai restaraunt not only because the food is delcious, but the service is also great. Everything I have had at Yum Yum has been great. My favorites are the Red Curry (I get w/ Chicken), the Tom Ka Gha soup, and the springrolls. Just perfect. I agree with the other reviewers, it's not the fanciest, most exotic Thai food by any means, but I know what I'm going to get will knock my socks off everytime. The ladies who work there are super friendly and give very fast, efficient service. And the prices can't be beat. I can have a deliciously cooked dinner for around 10 bucks and always have plenty left for lunch the next day.

My favorite Thai restaurant in the whole wide world has great food in a strip shopping center, so Yum Yum Thai reminds me of it in more ways than one! The ladies are so nice and helpful with recommendations. I like the beef with broccoli so much that I haven't tried any other dishes. I also like the Thai iced tea and Thai donut things. I wish I could come here more often for lunch as I think the lunch specials are a much better value than the dinner prices.

I work in Tucker and with so few good restaurant options I've likely been to every single restaurant in the area. Its easy to overlook Yum Yum thai since people probably don't expect to get great food in the middle of a strip mall but it is one of my favorite Thai Food places in Atlanta. The curries are all very good and the Drunken Noodles are a personal favorite. Definitely give this place a try if you are in the area!

Many, many years ago I was hesitant to visit this restaurant - despite all of ravings I had heard - because it looks shady. Albeit, it is a hole in the wall. A cheesy string of lights and old newspaper clippings hang in the window of this restaurant, in the run-down strip mall. When you go inside, you hear instrumental jazz covers from muffled speakers. However, if this website were dedicated to appearances that stuff might matter. But it's not. And for authentic Thai food - I have yet to find better in all of Atlanta. Just thinking about the Coconut Chicken Soup is making my mouth water. And the Fried Tofu is delicious. Even people who don't like tofu will devour this appetizer! The spring rolls are also good - but generic. Anyone who can cook can make spring rolls. However, the bit that sets this restaurant above the others are the entrees: Masaman, Panang, Pad Thai, PadSeeYoo, Drunken Noodle, Woonsen, Satay Noodle, Glass Noodles, and Sweet & Sour are just SOME of my favorite dishes (off the top of my head). You can get any of those dishes (or any meal) made with chicken, beef, pork, fish or tofu. They also offer a spicy-scale from 0-4 or 5 peppers, however, if you ask they can make it even spicier, and will even bring out the spice tray for you if you ask. You can also call in orders for pick-up if you wish to avoid the horrible music. ;) The wait-staff recently had some changes made to it - so the service is not impeccable (like it once was), but it's getting better. Also, they never let your water glass sit half-full for more than a moment. I hate eating spicy food, needing a drink of water, and having an empty glass. These native Thai understand that - and will never let that happen. Literally, hands down, the best Thai restaurant in Atlanta.

It's good! Yeah. I don't go out too far on the Thai limb but I can say the pad thai is good!

Just really basic, simple and pretty tasty Thai food. Not very expensive. My wife and I got out of there with Ginger Chicken and Pad Thai with one Diet Coke for just over twenty bucks. The server who appeared to be the only front of house staffer was very friendly and attentive. No frills here. Just an easy dinner out for not so much money. I'd go back if I'm looking for someone else to cook and clean up but not if I'm looking for ambiance. Very bare bones decor. The server scooped up a ton of rice for each of us and we had to ask her not to give us so much. Portions were fair. Not over the top. Fair portions for the price.

Best Thai in Atlanta. Its a tiny hole in the wall location that nobody would ever think was good. I've had Thai from all over Atlanta, in resturants that cost 2 or 3 times as much as Yum Yum and I always come back. Try the Drunken Noodles and Crispy golden tofu! If you like it hot, you can order from 1-4 spicy from their menu. If you're brave, you can go even hotter by special request!

This is one of my all-around favorite restaurants. We've been dining here consistently ever since we moved to Tucker about five years ago. Service is excellent. It is a "mom & pop" hole-in-the-wall restaurant. They remember their regulars (and there's a ton from what I've seen) and they remember what you like. We really enjoy: fried tofu (very light), basil duck, red curry duck, pad thai, drunken noodle, basil beef, whole red snapper with three flavors sauce (this involves deep frying an entire fish - honestly think I would prefer this steamed), coconut soup, any of their curries.

I travel to the area on business and always make a point to eat here. Great lunch and great dinner. Don't dismiss it based on the location. Good stuff!

Nestled in the corner of a past-its-prime strip shopping center, Yum Yum Thai serves up consistently delicious cuisine. The first thing you'll notice as you approach this restaurant is the front window, which is covered with thier many glowing reviews, and they always seem to be swapping them out with newer ones. A sure sign of consistent excellence. Though the dining room is rarely more than 1/4 full, you'll notice that they do CRAZY take out business. Be that as it may, we prefer to dine in and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. Typically my wife and I will split an order of spring rolls, but sometimes I'll get some Thai chicken wings or perhaps some chicken or beef sate as an appetizer. For the main course I usually order a stir fry of beef or chicken with broccoli, although I recently branched out and my current favorite is the spicy beef salad. My wife, being more adventurous than myself, has tried a wide variety of dishes and is consistently pleased. Our most recent meal cost $26 for two imported beers, a spring roll appetizer and two entrees. Folks, that's cheaper than T.G. McFuntimes! I'd give 4.5 stars if I could. One or two imperfect (but perfectly edible and tasty) dishes keeps them from getting a perfect score. Considering how many times we've eaten at Yum Yum, I can say they are remarkably consistent and are always make you feel at home.
