If you're looking for vietnamese food and don't know any better, this is a good place to start since the flavors are mellowed down and less pronounced. check in with the app, you get a free spring roll order. What you do is when you enter, go order at the counter first, then go sit down. When you first walk in, it'll look like you're supposed just be waited to be seated, but it's not how it works. I was confused too. Meat spring rolls: When I think "Spring roll", I think of the rice paper roll with rice vermicelli and other ingredients. Well, this is more of what I consider an "egg roll" because it's deep fried. Is it wrong to call it a "spring roll", I don't think so, but it sure def wasn't what I was expecting. It tasted ok, if you've ever had those deep friend egg rolls at panda express or something, that's what it tastes like, same size also. Iron bowl rice & grilled pork chop: Got this with fried rice, It's alright. Fried rice was on the dry side. It's colored yellow for some reason and I can't exactly figure out why. It's on the drier side which leads me to believe it's not some broth that flavors it. The pork chop itself is good. Tender, flavored well, good size. Iron bowl rice & shaking beef: Rice is about the same in this one, but what's different is that this is served in an iron bowl whereas the one above is just served on a plate. The iron bowl gives the outer edge of the rice a nice crisp and burnt taste to it. It's something you would expect, and it's actually pretty nice. Still on the dry side though, so there's that. And again, yellow. The shaking beef was decent. Could be more tender, but there was a good amount of beef to rice ratio which I liked. This place also looks to have a drive through? Which was weird. I don't know if they cater for the dining experience or the lunch crowd just ordering and leaving. Whichever it is, I think this place is 3 stars overall, not the best representation for viet food though.

Great surprise! This is my first visit to the Iron Bowl and I am very impressed. The dining area is modern and clean. The manager greeted me and recognized that it was my first visit. She walked me through their value proposition and then through the menu. I ordered my chicken and spring roll vermicelli (V6) at the counter. A big bowl of food was served with a cup of the chili fish sauce. The presentation was good. The salad was fresh and tasted great. The seasoned chicken breast was moist. The spring rolls were crispy and not greasy at all. The vermicelli would have been great had I not poured all the fish sauce into the bowl. Overall the food was excellent and the place is very clean and inviting. I'll be back!!

I love Vietnamese food and was craving some today so decided to try this place for lunch. I was hoping for some delicious chargrilled meats and some Vietnamese coffee. Sadly, I payed $14 for some serious disappointment. They need some improvements if the want to stick around for long. Especially in Norcross where you an find all kinds of great international choices for 1/2 their price. Pros: clean place, claim to cook sans msg, location. Cons: service and, for me, it's far from authentic Vietnamese food. Cashier is a mumbler- not familiar with the menu ex: couldn't answer what the flavor the 'seasonal sorbet' was or questions about the meats. Owners try to be attentive and nice but come off as condescending...They seem to be targeting those who've never had vietnamese food and treat you like it. I'm no expert but have had my share of delicious Vietnamese foodstuffs. Vietnamese coffee... $3.90 and the worse I've ever had. And I've had a lot. Watered down coffee served in medium cup only half full and tons of ice 'for client to add water if they need to' according to cashier/server and owner. When I commented he asked me if I wanted more water in it. What?! Flavor and a full cup is what I needed for 4 bucks. Soggy greasy spring rolls - I lifted the last pieces and they fell apart. Pork is lacking the traditional chargrilled flavor I love, it was strips of tenderloin grilled and sauce is put on after... Not that glazed, chargrilled, flavorful goodness. Everything else tasted like water.

I have made 2 visits to the restaurant. My first visit was good the waitress was pleasant the cook was nice. I ordered my fav meal...rice vermicelli with chicken. The order came rather quick which surprised me because I didn't even hear any cooking take place in the kitchen. To my surprise when I got home I didn't get my chili fish sauce, pickled veggies were a little tart and chicken tasted rubbery (microwaved.) So I gave it a 2nd chance a couple of weeks later and ordered the same thing this time I asked for the sauce and no greenery. My order was exact yet the quality of the dish was okay there was no hint of fresh or cooked to order.

If you're looking for a vietnamese restaurant, then this is not it. When I first walked in I thought I was in the wrong restaurant. I had PHO GA which was horrible, no flavor, no taste AT ALL!! Don't call it PHO when it's no where near the rich flavor a PHO bowl is supposed to be. My friend ordered a beef dish that was horrible too. HIs rice was not cooked properly so it was so dry. The beef was hard and not soft. I don't think that was filet mignon that was used since filet mignon is supposed to be soft. Not trying to be discriminating or anything but I have never seen a black guy cook vietnamese food before. Maybe if they had a real vietnamese chef the food would taste somewhat vietnamese. I would give it 0 stars but had the lowest was 1.

For a new business, Iron Bowl is off to the wrong start. The business opened up nearby where I work and there was coming soon sign outside of the restaurant for months. Once it finally opened, I couldn't wait to see what was on the menu. Now that I tried it, I'm not interested in going back. I called ahead to place a take out order, twice and no one answered the phone. When I finally heard the voice mail, I realized it was a personal cell number of the owner and not of the business. An employee later confirmed that I was indeed correct. Upon walking in, no one greeted me. When I finally made it to the front to place an order, the cashier was not the friendliest person and seemed like she didn't want to be there. She didn't smile, didn't seem interested in making conversation( I asked her what was her favorite thing on the menu), and she mumbled a lot. I ordered the Friday Lunch Special of Grilled Salmon, Fried Rice and a salad. I don't think it was worth it being $11.95. The salmon tasted like it was frozen, defrosted and grilled, the rice was bland with not enough vegetables or flavor. A restaurant that is trying to promote that they don't use MSG, healthy and all natural, I don't expect my salad to be old with withering lettuce and old carrots. When I hear a company has healthy initiative, I would expect fresh produce, spinach and carrots in a salad. The special came with a drink and the cashier literally said, "What you want to drink?" I asked for a sweet tea and she grabs a cup from where we were standing, doesn't say anything, walks to the back and comes back with my sweet tea 2 minutes later. Why would the sweet tea not be in the front with the other carbonated drinks? I don't know why she took it to the back, what she did with it,etc but it was definitely weird? She handed me the tea and pointed to the straws, saying" The straws are right there". It would be great customer service if she would have handed me the straw and been a little bit more pleasant. Pros After placing my order, the manager greeted me and told me about the menu and the cook also gave me two salad dressing samples to try to find out what kind i would like for my salad. The windows are huge letting in tons of natural lighting. Overall, I think Iron Bowl needs to have a consistent menu, better customer service, and just better food. The space has potential but I think they have a lot of kinks to work out if they want to compete with the other businesses in the area. there are other favorite restaurants in the area where I would rather spend my money and with employees who are actually nice.

Brand new restaurant they were still building the porch. Was not greeted when walking in restaurant. Nice decor very clean inside fantastic music. the cashier was extraordinarily rude angry. She forgot to bring my drink twice and never brought condiments or extra things that I asked for. Basically was completely ignored the entire time until I got my food. Fantastic food but I'm going to give it some time do to service and try again in the future.
