Sushi on the southside is generally unheard of in the sea of Ruby Tuesdays and Applebees. Kiku is one of the few sit down options, and it hits the spot whenever I'm in the mood back home. It's not authentic Japanese cuisine by any means, but that doesn't mean it doesn't hit you with lots of flavor! I think part of the fun of going to a sushi restaurant in America is to see how creative the rolls can get. Kiku has plenty to offer, and the rolls always taste fresh. Their fried rice is also amazing, and I can't get over the "seafood sauce" (or pink sauce for some). Perfect blend of creamy goodness and ginger, yum yum. I've never eaten hibachi here, but I try to avoid that section if I can anyway. There's rarely a line for the sushi area, and I like watching the food I'm going to order prepared in front of me... which would be the sushi side. There's no need to trek down here if you want to try Kiku as they now have a couple more locations around the city, but if you're on the southside and need that roll, Kiku is a great bet!

The first time I ate here, I left more angry than I ever had been in my life. I vowed never to return. But, after many months I decided to give them one last chance. The first time I notified our server that I am allergic to mushrooms. So the idiots cooked the mushrooms separate, but before they cooked my meat, which means....its on the same grill, with the same MUSHROOM OILS!! No, he did not clean the grill. A whipe down just spreads it around. So......I could not eat my food. Then we notified the manager and he had the chef remake all my food. BUT THEY STILL DID NOT CLEAN THE GRILL. Needless to say, I didn't eat that night. We were compensated for our meal and given a gift certificate to come back, but I was so angry with their stupidity that I just could not do it again. How hard is it to cook the mushrooms last? They take 4 mins. max and I always eat steak rare, so they could even start cooking the mushrooms after my steak is served and everyone else's meat is still going. DUH. So, this time, I explained this to the waiter and they still did not do it right. I spoke up just as the mushrooms were about to go down on the grill. The chef understood that an allergy is important and scolded the waiter. He cooked the mushrooms, but then fully cleaned the grill before continuing. YAY! Finally some one at Kiku is not a moron! The food is good. Not great, just good. It tastes like all Teppan places, which I love. They have a very bad sushi selection, so I didn't bother trying it. They have redeemed themselves slightly to me, but I do not know whether it would be worth trying again.......all it takes is one mess up, one mushroom in my food and I am in the fetal position crying for a day. Bottom line: Allergies should be taken seriously by restaurants. Unless they desire a law suit.

Love this place. My favorite rolls are New Orleans roll, volcano roll, and rock and roll.

The food was great and large portion i enjoyed my first time here. However, the waiter was a little absentminded. We did not receive our salad and until the cook was almost done with our food. I will give benefit of a doubt that he was working multiple table. One pet peeve of mine is that it was on two of us and they still added their 15% gratuity in. Let me control the tip i give not you

The sushi I ordered was "blah" just like the disposition of the hostess who waited on me. If the food isn't up to par at least be friendly to your customers.

  • Tim F.

The black hostess is a racist. When I requested a table for two I was told none were available despite seeing two clearly available. Then we were quickly ignored in favor of an incoming phone call...rude. I thought maybe the server couldn't handle the load but when we were seated at the sushi bar that thought was quickly laid to rest when it was the same server in both sections. If you're black you should have good service, just be sure to leave that 10% tip to express your gratitude.

Sushi is delicious. I noticed they started adding tips to the total. Not sure about this one. I'll be back.

Been going to this place since it opened. If the plan on staying open some changes will have to be made. First the place is filthy. The clientele has gone down and as that has taken place so has the service as well as the food. I guess the clincher for my wife and I was the bath rooms. My wife stated that the bathrooms were disgusting and if that is how they keep the bathrooms just imagine how everything else is being taken care of. What once was a regular place to eat has now become a place to avoid.

The mountain roll sushi was AWESOME!! It was so good, I ordered some to go!

Had hibachi but sat at the bar.Salad dressing was very soupy. Soup wasn't anything to write home about. I actually never figured out the flavor of the soup. They did an awesome job with the scallops. They weren't over cooked and very tender. The steak was ok. It could have been seasoned better. I asked for medium but it was medium well. The veggies were a little over done for me. The brown sauce was pretty good. Leave that pink yum yum sauce alone. We ordered the fried rice and it took a considerable time for it to come out after our hibachi was served. I think the place is well over priced for what you get. Seems to be pretty popular. A lot of people were coming in when we were leaving. Probably wont go again.

So disappointed . . . I have dined here in the past and was in for an unsettling surprise when a roach (yes you read that correctly a ROACH) crawled on the table near my daughter's plate. I could eat my food after that and to my surprise the host STILL charged for a meal I didn't eat. He apologized and explained that due to a recent infestation they sprayed insecticide and were experiencing a problem. I saw one roach but his explanation made me feel nauseous. INFESTATION! He offered a coupon for use on my next visit, I declined. No, thank you sir, I will not be back!

I'm a regular at this kiku because I stay right down the street. I usually get decent service but I don't get why on this particular day they choose not to sit me, my girl and little boy and they clearly have a open table. I usually sit at the table in the back on a regular because I like to eat sushi but today they just refused to give us that seat and that was the only one open. We sat there patiently waiting for about 45 + mins waiting for a table. Mind you the manager came and ask us if we was waiting and he seen that table open but still chose not to sit us.

Kiku is one of the best sushi places in Atlanta. Their sushi rolls are delicious and are finely made. I like their selections of sushi. My favorite rolls are New Orleans and Mountain. I definitely recommend them. Service was good. 4 stars rating because Kiku includes a gratuity in the bill and that the prices are a bit higher than other sushi places. The gratuity is fine with me as long as the service is good. I also gave the waiter an extra tip. The prices can be lower but it's ok because it's not crazy expensive.

OMG!!!!!! Kiku's sushi is the bomb.com !!!! But the service from Sean is second to none!!!! He welcomed us right in,.....was prompt with our orders, had EXCELLENT recommendations, & the overall customer service can't be beat!!!!! This will be a weekly treat!!!! Do yourself a favor & visit!!!! FYI: The New Orleans Roll, The Lion King Roll, & The Lobster Roll are ALL choices that CANNOT fail,.......trust me!!!!

Order the lion king roll or the new orleans roll. I am forever damaged. Why? Cuz every sushi place I go, I am highly disappointed because I They don't compare to kiku. But the key... ASK FOR "NACHO" to make your sushi. It's makes all the difference. I want him to cater at my wedding. Yup, he's that good.

Went to this restaurant the other day for lunch with some other people. It was the first time we seen this restaurant and we thought we would try it out. It was a very interesting restaurant to eat at. The atmosphere was awkward and the workers did not seem happy. The men's bathroom door would not close all the way, and the lady that was with us said there was bugs in the women's bathroom. The service was not great. The waitress was very awkward acting. Most of the sushi was at least eatable, but it was still the worst sushi I've had. The food would have been better if it came from a can (and who knows, it might have). We actually got sick after eating there. Altogether it wasn't the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant, but it was probably in the bottom 10. I will not be going back to this restaurant and can not recommend it to anyone. I prefer a more authentic, and also clean place to eat!

This place offered exactly what I expected. And they helped satisfy my sushi craving. Our orders were nontraditional this time, and we got a lot of innovative rolls which were probably in no way healthy for us. But they were still yummy. For the record, we had a Lion King Roll, a Fayetteville Roll, a Volcano Roll, and a regular ol' California roll. All were well prepared and tasted good. I wish I had written down what was in those specialty rolls. Service was also relatively quick. It was a quiet night and our food came out quickly. Plus, my glass was never empty. I'll happily go back. Holler if you're coming with.

My favorite sushi place! If you are craving for sushi, this is the right place to be. There hibachi is okay, but sushi is great! Must try: new orleans, volcano, and scorpion roll!

  • Kiana L.

The hibachi food is good. Nothing mind-blowing, but good. The nigri sushi is tasty (ibi and kani). There is a nice atmosphere and the staff is really friendly. When we went for my parent's anniversary, they came out with a special desert and presented my mom with a hefty gift certificate. I've been here many times and will continue to come.

This was not a good experience for my wife and i. The sushi we ordered was awful (both the chicken tempura and the dragon rolls) the chicken and crab was severely overcooked. The fried rice was under cooked and had little flavor. The waitress was busy but attentive and did a good job balancing all her customer which is the only reason this place get 2 stars. The food was just bad especially for the Atlanta were there are so many options, I will not come back.

  • Kellee D.

I absolutely love and crave sushi at Kiku!!! I usually order the lion king roll, volcano roll, and new orleans roll along with a side of seaweed salad with cucumbers and crabmeat. The food never goes wrong. Trust me, this Kiku location is the best out of all three locations I've been to. I recommend trying their sushi along with their habachi items. Service here is always great, never had a problem. They're a lively crew.

Come here and enjoy some appetizing sushi rolls at the sushi bar or table. Want more than just sushi? Come for the hibachi dinners where the chefs put on a show and cook in front of you on a flat top grill. Just hope that you'll get a chef who not only cooks your meal exactly the way you want it, but a chef that's also a great entertainer as they will be cracking jokes and performing some culinary tricks for you. Want the hibachi dinner without the performance? You can just order the hibachi dinner from the menu while you're at a regular table if you're tired of the same ol' "butter-fly, egg rolls & volcano onion" tricks.

Manditory tip included??? I was planning to give more than 15%, but since they already included it i guess thats all ill give. This business practice is offensive and so was the guy sitting infront of me with his unconcelled glock 22. Jesus Georgia lets get it together...smh

    (2)
  • David R.

To start off be advised avoid giving a extra tip unless you receive superior service ( which is probably not likely) because they already put a Mandatory 15% gratuity on the check. Doesn't matter how many is in your party. Now onto the food, had calamari that came in a cone shaped stand????? And had no taste/flavor. My date had the crawfish roll and it was just blah with no taste as well. I had the crunch roll bland and gooey. Also had hibachi filet and not impressed with that either. Hope they make some improvements pretty quickly. Don't think we will be visiting this place again.

Well it's Mothers Day and we just had a mixed review among the family. My son and I ordered sushi (Volcano roll, Seafood roll, and ?) which were delivered pretty quickly and were tasty/fresh. My husband and daughter ordered off the Hibachi (chicken and steak) nothing too difficult but it was delivered about 25 minutes later. We told the staff to box both orders to go. Instead of offering a discount off of their orders, the manager gave us a certificate for $10 off our next visit. So basically we have to go back again for any benefit of a somewhat dismal dinner. On top of this, the bill had 18% gratuity figured into the amount owed. I would have tipped the waitress anyway because it wasn't her fault but it still grates that the tip was included for a party of four given the experience. Will I go back again? Sure...I have a $10 sushi roll waiting for me at the bar. Would I recommend? NO!

My boyfriend and I ordered a tuna tataki appetizer, four rolls (left to right) New Orleans, Dragon, Crazy, and Spicy Baby Lobster, and an order of Hamachi nigiri. Presentation wise, we had no problem with. Taste wise, it was definitely a disappointment. The tuna tataki wasn't seared properly and it was drenched in a very un-tasty sour sauce. The hamachi wasn't fresh and the unagi on top of the dragon roll had loads of bone that should've been picked out before serving. Lastly, the service sucked and as many say, they add an automatic 15% regardless of how many (1-2) people. We've been eating here for a while and we've never had a problem until now.

The only thing I enjoyed was the New Orleans Roll..... The service was so so and the drinks were weak....

So I've been to the Kiku on Camp Creek and it was horrible. After reading the reviews for the one in Fayetteville I decided to give it a try. Not so bad. Nowhere near as good as the Benihana on Peachtree but it'll do for something close to home. There was so much food I could've eaten off of it for 2 days. I ordered a simple Terriaki chicken dish w/double fried rice. Soup and salad standard. The soup was a little bland and the salad dressing was kind of mayonnaiseish. The shrimp appetizer was very skimpy(2) leaving me wishing I would have ordered the shrimp dish instead of chicken. The cook was trying to be funny but really wasn't. I guess once you've seen one onion volcano you've seen a million. All in all I would go back. Not on any kind of regular basis though.

Fayetteville roll & New Orleans roll is pretty good. Definitely coming back. They make a pretty good Mojito

Kiku gets 4 stars because of their signature sushi rolls! MUST try --- Lion King Roll & Fayetteville Roll ... those are my personal favorites. The service is a hit or miss...but I could tell they were trying. I haven't ran into the younger servers in a while...but they were usually on point. Hibachi- it was alright....only had their hibachi once.

finally got around to writing out a review. I've been about 4 times now to be fair... but so far the food has always been around 2/5 stars...personally a meal from the dollar store would be cheaper and taste better... when it wasn't food, our server would be either talking to other servers while standing around or watching TV... also when I've came in each time, the hosts seemed to be lost and unsure of what they were doing and they kept on having trouble with take out orders (or simply wouldn't do them till last minute). So why are they hiring high schoolers, who wont do their job? As for the managers, the first 3 times it was an Asian American fellow, he would flat out call his staff negative things in front of us. personally, I would image that's against some type of law or something...also I asked our waitress where did she get her alcohol serving license and she told us "oh...no one here actually pays attention to those." So over all, crummy food, terrible service, dirty tables, and management doesn't care...I've tried to be fair but obviously these people don't care about running a good business. Personally I've been a waiter, host and manager in my life...I've never seen such laziness.

I've been a patron of Kiku for years, and it's certainly one of the better teppanyaki options outside of the perimeter. Generally speaking, if you've been to one teppanyaki restaurant, then you've been to them all. That said, I never tire of watching food cooked directly in front of me, checking my eyebrows after a flare-up on the grill, catching shrimp like a seal at SeaWorld, or banging the gong. Contrary to what other reviewers have written, the prices are actually reasonable considering the amount of food you get: soup, salad, entree including vegetables and rice, and dessert. I've always eaten on the "hibachi" side of the restaurant, though I've been told that their sushi is good too. Lastly, I find it somewhat amusing that I as an Asian person in an Asian restaurant have to SPECIFICALLY ASK FOR CHOPSTICKS every time I'm at Kiku. I suppose that I give off that "gaijin" vibe. ;)

Kiku is one of the only Japanese hibachi grills in Fayette/Coweta located in the much run down Pavilion. I've gone on two occasions and both times left very disappointed. Sushi was not that great - the salad was disgusting - and the meal was not much better. The hibachi is better - but not enough to make up for the lack of flavor or lack of pizazz. Rather pricey for Fayetteville - over spend if you must. Consider yourself SERVED

I only come to this place to eat sushi, but oh my god! After I paid for my bill which was $38 some odd cents the waitress ran up to me and force me to pay a 15% minimum tip. I asked her out loud in front of the kiki hostess and the manager Andy, " is this mandatory or do I have an option to give a tip?" The waitress said yes its mandatory, I have to give a 15% tip or 20, 25%. I am so shock that the manager could just stand there and let this waitress cheat customers and demand a tip. I will never go to this place again. Also to clear the air I am a pretty good tipper but it is not right to demand a tip and to lie saying it is mandatory. Awful manager, awful waitress. The waitress was a heavy set Asian lady.

My first time at Kiku, I had no clue what to expect. When I left Kiku, I made sure I came back for several more visits. It's Japanese food at its finest. The chefs of course cook in front of you, and they are talented and quite entertaining as well. The food and drinks are a bit of expensive, however for the money you get plenty of food. If you don't finish, they do allow you to take a to go box. The atmosphere is great, and the waiters while not the best, did their job sufficient enough, to keep all guest happy. If your looking for a good Japanese place to try out, Kiku is the best place.

My family loves hibachi style cooking. KiKu is our closest restaurant so they have seen us many times on weekends, birthdays and anniversaries. Unfortunately the chef is hit or miss. Some seem to get into it and their tricks a great, some seem to just want to cook and move on. My favorite is the steak teriyaki, my husband always get the vegetarian.

  • L A.

I've eaten at this particular Kiku at least 10 times and I've never had what one would call a "bad experience". The staff is always friendly and the food is always great. As Kelly says, I guess I'm on of the ones willing to shell out $30 bucks for my food cooked in front of me. It's quite delicious might I add. I can't, however speak on the quality of the sushi because I've only had "California rolls" there (which is hardly enough to judge an entire sushi bar on). The only reason I'm not giving this restaurant 5 stars is because of it's location and size. While the food is great, it's a bit far from most "civilization" (outside of Fayetteville) and it's not the best place for groups around dinner time on the weekends (groups = 10 or more people).

Kiku is by far the best Japanese restaurant I have eaten at. Every time we go there the food and service is great. The cooks put on a great show, and the kids love it.
