I wish they had better seating & atmosphere because then they would deserve a 5-star rating. Everything I have had on the menu is delicious but the schwarma (regular or spicy) platter is my go-to pick. Their garlic sauce is usually amazing and the dressing for the salad is awesome. They have solid hummus in both plain & roasted garlic. I've also had their falafel, which are fantastic.

The wife and I visited here for the first time and were very pleasantly surprised. The Shawarma is delicious as is the hummus. We will be coming here again!

We've been eating at this place since about it opened. Love it. Generally pretty good. The feta fries are amazing. The spicy swarma is my go to. There was one time, out of many, where the plain chicken shwarma was a bit under seasoned, but it's been good 90+% of the time.

I decided to get some hummus for an event I was having. I stopped here to pick it up and was a bit disappointed. This was my first experience here. I expected, but should have asked. I thought they would put the hummus in a container, but it was placed in a to-go box instead. I also ordered the pita bread and some extra. They gave it to me in bags, not cut up into the portions. Essentially, it wasn't setup in a catering style. I've never ordered catering and received it this way. However, the sliver lining is the hummus was good and so was the pita bread, but I had to take some additional time to cut the pita bread and get serving dishes for presentation. I'd check them out inside the restaurant in the future.

I had the Pita Falafel wrap with a side of the jalapeño hummus. This was on point! My Husband had the limited time Mediterranean Fish Taco and this is how he described it. "Most fish tacos taste more like taco and not fish, well this one tastes well rounded. Good". I would recommend this place. Yea people wrote about the seating and atmosphere, but I think it fits. Its a fast food sit down hybrid. It only took 5 mins for our food to come. The portion size was good. I cut my wrap in half so I could savor it later, but could of easily mowed the whole thing down. The chef who made all of this, you can tell he likes his job. I will be back for sure. This is our 2nd time this month

This is one of our favorite restaurants. Love the spicy chicken shwarma plate. I always get the jalepeno hummus and fatoosh salad as well. The falafel entree is another favorite. Everything is well-prepared and delicious.

I lived in Evans 3 years ago and this was my favorite place to eat. I returned again today and was not disappointed! You know when you have some memory about a place you've eaten and when you go back it doesn't live up to the memory? Laziza's EXCEEDS my memory!!

Good place for lunch! I don't mind driving 15 minutes just to eat their delicious babaganoush. I also particularly love the Lebanese garlic sauce they give you when you order the Shawarma. The food is always fresh and the service is fast and friendly.

I was on the fence between a 4 and a 5, mostly due to things other reviewers have mentioned about the atmosphere. I think they could certainly have chosen a better location, but at the end of the day, the food and service here are AMAZING. The kofta is some of the best I've ever had, and even my kids devour everything on their plate when we visit this place. My wife would probably eat here 3-4 times a week if everyone else in the family would get on board.

Best, authentic Mediterranean dishes in the CSRA!! The Chicken Shawarma platter is wonderful! Portions are big.

Favorite place in town. I usually get the Spicy Chicken Shwarma with Tabouli as my side. If you are ordering a platter come with an appetite because it is a ton of food. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I wish it had more of a Mediterranean atmosphere. Other than that the food is perfect.

The short the food is a five star with the atmosphere costing them star. Just a quick second to help spread some knowledge.. The word gyro and kebab mean the same thing, they both mean roasted meat not a specific dish.. Also I would like to point out that there are a lot of middle eastern countries on the Mediterranean which makes their food.. gasp... Mediterranean. Just to narrow it down it is obvious that this place is heavily influenced by that of Turkish, Lebanese, Israeli, and Palestinian cuisines. So if you order a gyro don't be surprised if you find more of a middle eastern flavor. For two people its going to cost you $25 with drink which isn't bad any more. You choose a style for your food a wrap, or a platter, or a salad, then you choose the roasting style of your meat and you basically choose two sides. I got the stuffed grape leaves, the spicy shawarma, and and the roasted garlic hummus. All of the items I had were delicious and the presentation was great. I will say the turkish style pitas they provide are mass produced and taste like it but thats just a small thing. Now if you are a Mcwender King or a Goldryanese buffet connoisseur then you may want to stay away because the portions are of an appropriate size. So again for $25 you get 2 great meals with a drink just don't expect much from the interior. Very much worth a stop

Not just an alternative to chicken fingers, it's a great place to eat a meal that feeds more than your waist line.

Amazing food ! Home made salad dressings , hummus and Garlic sauce (goes great on everything !) The chicken shawarma is delicious and the shish-kufta is very flavorful. On top of the food being wonderful the staff is very friendly . Over all great place to eat :)

I got the lunch special from their food truck at GRU today. All I have to say is WOW! $6.99 gets you your choice of gyro/shwarma/falafel along with salad (Greek or tabouleh), hummus(four kinds)/babbaganush, rice, and pita. You don't get a whole lot of anything, but put together it is a great amount of food for lunch. More than anything, it is one of the healthier options you will find in this part of town and it all tastes GREAT. Service is reasonably fast and friendly, plus they take credit/debit. I'm a huge fan!

My experience at this place can be described as "mixed." I would choose this place over nearby fast food for a quick lunch, but I certainly wouldn't take someone here to impress them. The food is not bad, but it didn't impress me. The food is expensive for what you get in my opinion. The falafel is frozen, the grilled veggies were mostly diced tomatoes with a little zucchini, etc. The atmosphere is not much different than the sub shop that was here before. What really stood out to me was the lackadaisical attitude of the employees. I will try again with hopefully better results.

I would give zero starts if I could. Paid 17.00 something dollars the a tiny plate. Really pissed me off! Should have know that the plate would be so small... Looks like I need to hit up a different joint!

    1. Location--inside a shopping center right next to 'My Thai' (Thai restaurant which also serves great food), and across from McDonalds and Pho Bac. 2. Payment method--Cash and Credit Card. Military discount too. 3. Staff--very friendly and helpful. I asked what they recommended and he said the gyros were really good. He even offered to sample some of their hummus. 4. Taste/quality--I ordered a spicy chicken gyro w/ french fries inside. It came with the traditional tzatziki sauce and was wrapped inside pita bread. Also, I had ordered the garlic hummus w/ pita bread on the side. Let me tell you, it was delicious. I almost felt like I was in Greece a few years ago when I had my first street gyro. 5. Cleanliness--this place is squeaky clean. It seemed fairly new inside too. Overall: what a pleasant surprise! I thought it wasn't going to taste that good--however, It was quick and delicious.

I have thrown up several times from eating here. I think it is something they put in their garlic paste. Also, their chicken shawarma is often old. If they don't sell it after they cut it off the vertical rotisserie looking thing, they save it outside the fridge and heat it and add it to the rice and stuff. So their meat is dangerous because sometimes it has gotten old and is no longer safe. If you decide to go there anyways, make sure the older guys serve you. I have had the younger guys spill soup on my table without refilling the cup. They try to clean it up with regular table napkins from your table when the amount is clearly enough to require a towel/sponge, etc.

Not your typical chain restaurant and definitely not another chicken place. The food was fresh and the service was good. As others mentioned, the portions are not big, but I was full.

Excellent place to grab some great Middle East grub. I usually go for the spicy Chicken Shawarma with a side of one of their hummus or Baba Ghannoush. The Tabuleh Salad is always fresh and tasty and the falafel can't be beat! My wife is a vegetarian and she has just as much to choose from on the menu as I do. I just wish the location was better. Other than that, the owners are incredibly nice and it is worth a visit.

I am so glad that Evans/Martinez/Augusta is starting to get some more good local grub in the area. This one did not disappoint. The hummus here is really good and creamy, and they even have other flavors besides original: roasted red pepper and garlic (I think they had other flavors too but I forgot). The rice here is seasoned well and goes great with the meat of your choice. I was a little disappointed with my chicken shish-taouk since the meat didn't have that much flavor but I guess the white garlic sauce helped to make up for the lack of flavor. The lamb kebab was cooked well though! The place is cute and the staff were nice. I saw that there were coupons run in the mail, and we used a $5 off $25.

I often cook middle Eastern foods for middle eastern people and my expectations were low for a Mediterranean restaurant in augusta. You can get good authentic food (shawarma, baklava, falafel and fatoosh salad) at low prices cooked fresh for you. It is a healthier substitute than most restaurants and has many intriguing spice melodies that Georgians haven't tried yet. My advice-come and try the shawarma, baklava and hummus. It's a deliciously surprising meal that fills you for a long time and there are no sugar crashes. The food comes to you very fast as well. The place is kept very clean and has a modern take on the Mediterranean and middle eastern design. I had Laziza serve at my wedding and people come up to me and ask where we got the food from. Please try this place and you will be happy you did.

So I will openly admit that my experiences with Greek/Mediterranean food are few and far between. That being said, I quite enjoyed everything I tried at Laziza. I got a vegetarian dinner platter, and the DH ordered a lamb wrap. Mine came with hummus, a salad (I chose tabbouleh), a couple of falafel, two grape leaves, and baba ganoush. His came with a side of hummus. I thought everything was tasty, although nothing really blew me away - I might get the lamb next time, as DH thought it was awesome. I thought they were a bit on the pricey side for what you get, but it's still something we'll probably add to our rotation.

Great, fresh Mediterranean food at a great price point. I had the falafel lunch platter and my wife had the spicy chicken shawarma. My platter came with baba ghanouj and tabouli. Everything was excellent Down to the buttered hot pita bread. Great international food in Augusta Georgia.

I was taken to Lazizas by my sister-law and my mother-in-law. My sister-in-law is vegan, so there are many tasty choices for her here. I was a little taken aback by the cafeteria style atmosphere, and the fact that the food was served on plastic plates, with plastic cutlery to match. So when I discovered that the food was delicious, it surprised the heck out of me! The sister got the felafel wrap, and me and the mother split a platter. It was 12.99, and was enough food to fill us both up! The shish-kufta is amazing, and the shish-tawook is also decent. The rice was tasty, as was the hummus. The felafel was yummy, and I wish I could have gotten a gyro or a felafel wrap since they both looked really good. You might want to order more pita than what they give you if you get a platter, since it gets used up pretty fast. I know it sounds weird, but their french fries are AMAZING. A great combination is getting some of their hummus, and using it as a dip for their fries. Gooood stuff! I honestly would go back just for that.

This the most amazing food in America. The lamb is a blissful flavor and pure. Keep up the excellent job. By the way I have tried every restaurant in America looking for such a quality ended up with a lot of disappointment.

Excellent chicken schwarma, good hummus, excellent desserts. 4 stars instead of 5 due to sub par gyro. Been there a few times. Tasty baklava. They also have large bags of lintels to cook at home, and tahini.

Best falafel I have ever had. All the food was delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed. We brought our 3 yr old, and will definitely be back. Oh ya... You can get it delivered. :)

Laziza is a nice, clean Mediterranean restaurant with fast service and Halal food, from what I have been told. My one experience there was quite pleasant. The food is tasty with generous portions. I would recommend everyone who likes Mediterranean food to visit this place.

I wanted something Middle Eastern for dinner. I got it. It was half decent falafel with some preformed fries. The fries were your average stuff. Nothing to write home about. The falafel started out fairly OK. It was relatively fresh, had some good tahini and pickled onions on it to give it an authentic Arabic feel and flavor. It started out nice. It finished just OK. I'd go back to try the shwarma and/or the kabob and their other sides. The pluses: It was relatively inexpensive at $8.49 for the sandwich, a side and a drink. (Yeah, those prices are starting to get up there, but I blame the oil companies for our more expensive stuff.) Anyway, back to the meal (if you can call it that). Another plus, the falafel was green, which tells me there are some herbs that went into the little chickpea puff. The three guys running the place were relatively nice, too. They treated me with respect and, more importantly, they treated my food with respect. They gave up a to-go cup for a walk-away beverage with no qualms, too. The minuses: The place was relatively clean (the cooking area was clean for sure), but a couple tables remained strewn with debris for a little longer than they should have. Not too may points deducted for that as there were only three of them. As with any grill-type place, I felt like I walked out smelling like the place. Granted, I expected that when I walked in. I'd go again, as I mentioned before. But only three stars for this place this time. I may write another review if I return to a better performance.

I've eaten at their food truck twice now, and it's so expensive. What kind of Mediterranean place charges for hot sauce, feta and olives in a falafel wrap? my tiny falafel wrap came out to about $10. This isn't Atlanta.. . A side of babaganoush was $3.50, and the small Styrofoam cup it came in was more than half empty. Also the half pita wrap I got consisted more of air than pita. The truck is clearly taking advantage of GRU students while the student center is being renovated. Avoid this truck unless you got deep pockets or like being ripped off.

Edited in March of 2012: Dropped rating from 5 stars to 4 stars because I went to Shishkebab a couple blocks away and their doner/gyro was better than the one I had here. I've been stationed all over the world so I know alot about Kebab's and what not. Taking into consideration that this restaurant is in Georgia, and I have been to a few other mediterranean places in the area. This place is really good. I had the schwarma and it was exactly what I was hoping to get, reminded me of some turkish spots back in Germany. Portion size is huge, you wont leave hungry. Staff is friendly. The place is very clean and has a light atmostphere. My only criticism would be they need to add more spices to the meat for additional flavor.

I tried this place for the first time with high hopes and boy was I disappointed. I have traveled to Greece and Crete many times. I love a good gyro, but that was not what I got today. The pita wasn't a pita but more of a Greek burrito wrap. It was thin and not soft at all. The meat was thin and over cooked. It tasted about the same as a frozen steak um. Gyros are supposed to have big chunks of meat , not here. Also, the "Greek burrito" was stuffed with lettuce and a very small amount of tsatiki (sp?) sauce. I've never before had a gyro that had more lettuce than meat. The fries tasted like frozen ore-Ida variety you can get at a grocery store. Look elsewhere for an authentic gyro in Augusta.

It felt like a cramped Subway Sandwiches or something. It's a little pricey for what you get. I ordered a gyro and the meat was very hard and very sparse. Not enough tzatziki sauce, or even if they call it that. The pita was good. Roasted Red Pepper hummus was pretty good. My husband ordered the Shish-Kufta Platter and it was a small plate if anything. Everything on that plate was very bland and lacked some kick, or zing. Definitely not enough spice for what I am used to from different middle eastern or Mediterranean restaurants. Again the meat was very hard and dry. Maybe we came on a bad day, but the place was packed with people so the food should have been fresh. I do want to come back to try their baklava and other dishes. I will definitely give this place a second try. I am craving some lamb right now. We did however have very good customer service, this place has great employees.

Have been to Laziza's several times, and never been disappointed. The meals are well-portioned and fairly priced. The shawarma gyro is great for lunch, and the veggie platter (add meat) is delicious for dinner. Also have had the kabobs (very good) and each of the hummus varieties are also good. The staff is friendly, prepares your food quickly, and offers great suggestions if you're not quite sure what to order. Can't go wrong here - great Mediterranean food, particularly for this area!

  • Tim G.

Well it's about time that mediterranean / middle-eastern food made an appearance in the area. On top of that, we lucked out as the food is great. They have a simple menu with the classics to include gyros, chicken shawarma, falafel for wraps ($5-$6) and they have platters ($8-$10) as well, but I didn't indulge. If you are an eater of med/middle-eastern food - cooking/spice profile is Lebanese/Palestinian origin. I went with the chicken shawarma wrap, which has an awesome garlic sauce on it. Done right, delicious. I will definitely be back and strongly recommend it.
