I have been coming here for years and it's my favorite place when I want some Korean tofu soup. I always get the spicy vegetable dumpling tofu soup and sometimes with the bbq and soup combo. You also get a lot of side dishes, fried fish and a bowl of rice. It's seriously one of the best tofu soup ever. My only gripe is the iced water they served. It tasted really weird and like metal. So ask for iced tea instead because you will need it!

If you live in Gwinnett and say you are going to tofu house, this is the place most people are referring to. Located in the H Mart plaza on Pleasant Hill road, Book Chang Dong is one the most popular tofu houses in the area. The tofu soup broth is what brings the customers here (so good!) and if you can handle spicy feel free to turn up the heat on you soup and order the "very hot". Each tofu soup comes with its assortments of cold kimchi side dishes. These pair up well with hotness of the tofu soup which is cooked and delivered to you in stone pot, take your time and don't just dive in unless you want a burnt tongue, that's my advice. My Recommendations: -Kimchi and Beef Tofu Soup Menu: yelp.com/biz_photos/book…

Closest tofu soup place to my house so I come here more often than I should, since their soups are pretty cheap. About 9-10$, okay maybe not THAT cheap. I usually get their combo with the korean BBQ but they raised the prices 2-3$ from before, so thats out of the question now. I fluctuate between the beef + kimchi or just the plain beef. They don't give as much beef in the one with kimchi so I always settle for just the beef. Side dishes are typical and those alone with the fish can fill me up just fine. Service is indifferent but thats no surprise. Will continue to come back in the future because I just can't get enough.

This little Korean restaurant is one of my favorites besides Iron Age. Lol. You get plenty of yummy side dishes with your delicious entree. The waits are usually not too long. It is usually pretty clean. My favorite dish is the seafood rice in a hot stone pot (spicy) or the beef and seafood tofu soup (that's spicy).

BEST tofu soup/soondubu I've had in Atlanta so far! The spicy actually has flavor and isn't like your sipping on spicy water like other places in Atlanta. The rice comes in a bowl and gets nice and crispy along the sides of the bowl, so you have a nice after dinner treat if you add tea to your rice bowl. I highly recommend this place!

The best seafood tofu soup in town! I have been coming to Book Chang Dong for years now and it has never disappointed me. It gets packed pretty quickly, but the wait is never too long. The seafood tofu soup has several levels of spicy depending on your request. Spicy means spicy. Keep that in mind. Korean red chili paste is no joke. But, it's delicious! The seafood tofu soup comes with shrimp (yes, it's whole shrimp with eyes and all), clams, tofu, a raw egg on the side to crack into your soup while it's still boiling, and a bowl of rice. You also get a fish on the side along with 6-7 typical Korean side dishes, such as kimchi-cabbage, kimchi-raddish, bean sprouts, fish cakes, lotus root, etc. They also have other typical dishes such as stone pot bibimbap and a variety of beef and pork dishes.

SUMMARY: Good sundubu and galbi. They aren't always consistent and unfortunately, they're more on the downward end at the moment so the food does not taste as good as it used to. It's a pretty inexpensive lunch if you'd like to grab something warm to eat though. You'll get lots of food because of the side dishes they bring. Service is good, but not exceptional. FULL REVIEW: I love love Korean food, especially sudubu. There are a few places I go for that in the area but I've been going to this one for quite some time now, and I think it's about time to change it up by leaving it off with a review. I usually order either just the sundubu with beef or the combo meal that comes with a choice of sudubu and galbi. Sundubu is the tofu soup that comes with a meat of your choice and vegetables (or just vegetables if you're a vegetarian). You can decide how spicy you'd like your soup to be or have no spice in it at all. Galbi is marinated beef short ribs. Both really good. They also bring you some side dishes such as kimchi, beansprouts, etc., to complement your meal. Depending on what you order, it'll usually come with a stone bowl of rice. It's probably my favorite part because it keeps the rice nice and hot. At the end of your meal, when you finish most of your rice, you can ask the server to bring you barley tea to pour in the stone bowl to soften up the rice so you can scoop out the rest. Consistency is key. If I find some place that's good and inexpensive to grab lunch at, I'll likely come back. A lot. So that's the case with this place. I love coming here, especially now since it's getting super cold. I like to get something warm to eat and this place is perfect for that. However, it's been slacking off lately with it's quality... the food just doesn't taste as good anymore. The sundubu doesn't come with nearly as much meat in it as it used to. The sides aren't as fresh and the fish that they bring comes out cold. I stopped coming to this place in the past and started going again because they started to pick up the slack. So I think it's about time for me to leave it be again for a few to see if they will improve, and I hope they will. Because back when it was good, it was gooood~

Book Chang Dong Tofu House is another old-school Tofu House that's been in the Atlanta area for many years. I remember going to this place over 10 years ago. It's same as Cho Dang and So Kong Dong in Buford Hwy. In fact, I think all 3 are similar. If you live near Buford Hwy, there is no reason to go to Book Chang Dong. And if you live near Duluth, there is no reason to go to the Buford Hwy Tofu Houses. You can see the age in this restaurants. Everything looks old. They seemed to have kept all of their original decorations. Perhaps the people working there were the same people that worked 10+ years ago. They looked burnt out as well. Speaking of which, they don't have the friendliest service in the world. They don't smile, they just do their jobs with cold efficiency. They seem to hate their jobs, but they do it anyway. How is their food? It's Tofu Stew. It's same everywhere. From Irvine, Ca, to Buford Hwy, to this place, they all taste similar. They all have the similar menu, right down to the combos. They even have the same banchans with that dried-up whole fish. I did get their combo. I got the classic Tofu Stew and the Ribs combo. It wasn't bad. The ribs were tender. I didn't taste much of the marinade, but it tasted good enough. The stew was slightly on the bland side. That's good, I rather have that than something full of sodium. I liked walking out of their without needing 10 glasses of water. I give this place about 3.5 stars. It's a Tofu House. What more can you expect?

Book Chang Dong is a staple for me when it comes to Korean tofu soup. Come winter, and I'm here at least once a week with my partner in crime, @Annieboopoo. Although it stays relatively busy, I've always been seated right away. The best thing about this restaurant is their consistency. Food: Book Chang Dong's menu is quite easy to navigate as it comes in both Korean and English. I love their tofu soup (my favorite is the soy bean paste) because it's thicker, almost stew-like consistency, compared to others. Although it may be an acquired taste, I like their cold noodles because it comes with slices of pork belly. As stated before, they are really consistent in their food, especially with their side dishes. 9/10 times you'll get the same side dishes. Variety is nice, but sometime familiarity is what the soul wants. Service: Service is quickly and friendly. And if you can't get their attention, ring the bell. Just note, you pay at the front counter.

Can't help but come back this place because it's the only place with decent soondooboo. But again, their service is horrible. After they take your order and serve you, they don't even look your direction unless you raise your hand and say, "please." They also play hardcore rap music, which doesn't really fit the ambience of the restaurant if you ask me.

Very authentic and very good food. I would recommend this to anyone. Very delicious food. I got the seafood and steak soup and I would eat it every time I went.

The date and I went here this past Sunday for lunch. My. My. This place gets pretty packed, and super quick too! He ordered a combo meal (tofu soup with beef briskets I think) while I ordered the octopus tofu soup. By the end of the meal, he was pretty full as he finished both his rice and soup with a couple of nibbles of the side dishes. The rice and soup alone will definitely fill you up, and the side dishes will fill any empty space in your stomach. :) I only finished my soup and nibbled on the side dishes; that rice was just too much. My soup was pretty good with a good amount of octopus so that's why I didn't even bother eating much of the rice. Overall the food was pretty good. Service was average. Parking was plentiful since it's located in a large complex with Hmart.

I love coming here. The food is amazing. You get so much for a decent price. I'll definitely be coming back again and again. Get the tofu soup with ousters. It's my favorite.

I love Korean food, but it hates me. It has ruined a number of shirts... and yet I never learn my lesson. We came here because one of us loves tofu (not me) so it was a treat for them. As a meat eater and not a soup lover, I was sorely short on options. I went with the bulgogi (you can never go wrong) and the others ordered kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew). The main dishes were pretty standard. What's sets this restaurant apart is the banchan (side dishes) and the way they serve the rice. They serve the rice in a hot stone pot. It stay hot the entire meal even though there is no lid, and you get to eat the crispy rice on the outer edge. Definite win. The banchan was good, but appears to vary based on other user pictures. I love kimchi and this was not my favorite. It was too fresh. However, the fried fish was a surprise and quite enjoyable (according to my girlfriend). In a sea of Korean restaurants... I mean it is Norcross... It's hard to say I would definitely come back here, just because I like trying new places. However, if someone wanted to come here I would certainly go with them.

Soon tofu soup (soft tofu). Pick your ingredients, seafood, meat, veggies, even dumplings. Pick the spicy level. Served with side dishes, including lightly battered fried fish. Consistently delish and under ten dollars. They also have decent mool and bibim nangmyun (in cold broth and in spicy sauce). The spicy sauce still comes with a small bowl of broth, best of both worlds. Convenient location in same shopping center as H mart, do some shopping after the yummy meal.

KNOWN FOR - Soon Tofu (9.9/10) I ALSO TRIED - Galbi (8/10) I'm on my last week of a 7 consecutive week series of cross country business trips (meaning I haven't been home in 7 weeks!). I only mention that because half of those weeks were in Los Angeles. I wanted 1 more soon tofu before I left LA (at either BCD or Koba, since both are way beyond anything Chicago can do), but the schedule being what it was, we couldn't. Well, I thought, no biggie. There's a BCD in Atlanta, I'll just go there! Turns out, there may not have ever been an official BCD franchise in Atlanta. I knew immediately as I looked at the menu that this was not a BCD, because they don't have their logo or placemats, and they don't even call themselves "BCD," but the full out "Book Chang Dong." Ok, well now that that's out of the way...how was it? SOON TOFU I ordered the soon tofu and galbi combo, and when the soontofu came out I noticed that the size of this was about the size of a regular (non combo) soontofu from BCD, which means it's pretty big. Think about it, the size of a non-combo soontofu at BCD is meant to fill up 1 person. I'm getting that AND I'm getting a serving of galbi, so this is going to be a very big meal! I ordered the pork soontofu extra spicy. I was really anticipating this first bite, because I was really curious whether or not this could hold a candle to BCD. And the result? ...homerun! My #1 problem with BCD is that when you order something "extra spicy," it just tastes like the good BCD SoonTofu you know, plus peppers. The peppers just taste like they're separate from the whole meal, and this is why Koba beats BCD on every level. All the spices and flavors are infused together (not to mention the fact that Koba is much spicier too). Well, ATL's version here was somewhere closer to Koba! I never tasted peppers, I only tasted the rich soontofu broth and it was very spicy! I think Koba's is even richer and if you order "extra spicy" there, it's even spicier than ATL! Regardless, being compared to Koba is an honor, so good job ATL! (I have heard reports that this place is inconsistent, by the way, but lucky for me, they were on this day). GALBI Lately, the galbi in LA's soontofu scene have been diminishing. Nowadays, more than 50% of the galbi is fat, but the non-fat parts still do taste incredible, though. Fake BCD's galbi quality is high quality, in the sense that it's very lean and very little fat. The galbi is pretty tender, about on par with LA, and while it does have smokiness, the LA ones have an edge. ATL's is still really good galbi, but just not quite LA caliber. If I could take the ATL meat for LA to cook, we'd be in business! BCD KILLA Technically, Koba already took that title, but whatever. ATL's fake BCD is much better than LA's BCD. Even the galbi being what it is, the focus is on the soontofu and fake BCD does it right! You also can't beat the price. Before tip it was $16, which is about $3-4 cheaper than LA.

This is the best tofu house I've been too. I recently moved to Dallas, TX and can't find one that even comes close to this place. I love how they serve their rice in a hot stone bowl. Their tofu soup is hot and very flavorful and the kalbi is as well. They don't give you a lot of kalbi though if you order two combos for some reason they combine it. We always een up ordering a dinner size kalbi. Their fish that comes as an appetizer is also good. You can eat that alone with just rice. I dream of this place everyday as I'm 800 miles away.

This is one of my favorite places to eat tofu soup. I always get either the Beef tofu soup or the Seafood Beef tofu soup. SIDE DISHES Usually consists of one mackeral with one meal order (tofu soup), kimchi, sautéed bean sprouts, potatoes, seasoned broccoli, noodles, and pickled radish. The sides are a bit better than other places but there's really nothing special about it. Usually they change it up a few times with other choices. THE FOOD Beef Tofu Soup - $8.49 Love this soup. Has plenty of meat and tofu soup is soft. Love the spice for just regular level. It comes with a stone bowl rice, but this time, they seemed to change it to metal bowls I guess for easy cleaning. You also get a raw egg with your soup to crack open and make your soup more flavorful and rich. The reason why I give this place 3 stars, DESPITE the delicious food here is because of the service. In previous visits, I was eating with a group of my friends around 9/930ish and we were almost done and the host came by and rudely gave us our checks and told us to "can you pay now?" Honestly, I understand it's close to their closing time, but if you are open to a certain time, stay open or at least politely let us know that you are closing soon. I have had better service at other places where I would order 20 min before they closed and I wasn't rushed. I have other incidences where the waitresses would forget what we asked them to bring when it wasn't busy. This place can up their service and I'll up the stars. Knowing that the people working and owning the place doesn't CARE about these reviews, you'd be surprised that this place got an 80-82ish grade on their health code. Just to keep that in mind. But overall, still love the food here if you don't mind less than average service.

The friend who introduced me to this place described the food here as - "It's not lunch. It's a beautiful experience." That is very true about this place. I am very new to Korean food and Book Chang Dong is the only place where I've had Korean food. The vegetable dumpling soup was suggested to me and I loved every bit of it. I have a high threshold for spicy food so I went full monty and it was spicy as hell. The condiments served along with the soup are very flavorful as well. My favorite is the fish chips, but they also serve something which had tofu which was delicious. We also ordered the beef bbq which was very juicy with a lot of flavor. The only downside about this place was the management who inspite of charging us the 18% gratuity, asked for more tip, which felt like a big turndown.

When I looked for a BCD on yelp, I thought it would take me to the BCD chain restaurant. Let me tell you- this place was not and had horrible service. We weren't greeted at all, the menus came late, and we kept receiving dirty stares by the servers because our girls were fussy. What else can you expect from two infants? I really wanted to leave. I didn't have to eat there, but I did. By the way, the rice in the dolsot bibimbap was extremely sticky; it's supposed to be almost crunchy from the stone pot. Not a very enjoyable experience at all.

I try to eat here whenever I am passing through this area. Same old food choices, love the seafood tofu soup, very tasty. Service is good and come early, then place can be packed during dinner time.

Book Chang Dong is a Korean tofu house located in the Super H Mart shopping plaza on Pleasant Hill Rd. Think of a Korean restaurant along the lines of So Kong Dong or Cho Dang Tofu House on Buford Highway -- limited menus with a focus on sundubu (tofu soups). It's a casual, small-ish restaurant with traditional Korean wooden decor inside. The menu has a dozen different types of tofu soups, ranging from vegetables to seafood to beef and kimchi. Affordably priced between $8.00-8.50 per piping hot bowl. For a handful of dollars more, you can get ~$14 combos that include soup (or noodles) plus Korean BBQ short ribs (galbi). Not bad. The noodles served are naengmyun -- dark, cold, chewy noodles made from arrowroot starch. Other menu highlights include Korean short rib soup, stir-fried octopus, steamed pork and kimchi wraps, and bulgogi beef (thin slices of marinated beef). I've had the naengmyun + Korean BBQ short rib combo here. It's not bad. One order consists of a healthy and generous portion of noodles. Good luck finishing them all in one sitting. The menu has a few different types of naengmyun with different ingredients and broth or no broth. Ask your server for details. I had the bibim naengmyun which were the noodles topped with a whole host of vegetables (scallions, radishes, etc.), slices of boiled beef, boiled egg, and spicy red paste (gochujang). The large metal bowl of noodles was accompanied by a small bowl of ice cold, tangy broth. Quite flavorful. The galbi (BBQ short ribs) were good. It's hard to find a Korean restaurant that makes terrible galbi. I don't know anyone who doesn't like galbi. It's always a safe choice to order at a Korean restaurant. The slices of rib are served on an iron skillet, sizzling hot so be careful. The final pieces that lay at the bottom of the pile are naturally greasy. I was disappointed in the banchan (complementary side dishes) here, which is mainly why I'm giving this place 3 stars. I know this is an economical Korean restaurant, but I still expected better quality banchan. The banchan was actually sub-par. It consisted of deep-fried fish (croaker or pollack? not sure), kimchi, cucumbers and ground beef, picked daikon radish, and pickled bean sprouts. Simply put, they just did not taste good. Not very fresh. The only respectable item was the sliced cucumbers and ground beef. The rest of the stuff was pretty forgettable. I normally love to eat banchan and clear those plates out, but I hardly made a dent in these guys. The kimchi was probably the most disappointing/worst offender. Note the fried fish is served whole and has many small bones, so you have to be rather meticulous when eating it. Service was very good. No complaints. Attentive servers and the food comes out in a reasonable amount of time. Overall, I'd say Book Chang Dong is a decent place for a quick and casual Korean meal. Personally, I like So Kong Dong and Cho Dang Tofu House better, but if you live up this way, then Book Chang Dong should suffice. I'll try the sundubu next time.

The food was mediocre. After we finished, paid our bill, and tip the busboy, we then left to our car. Then the waitress chased after us to our car, knocked on our window and said " we needed to tip her." We clearly told her we already did but she said that she needed her own tip and it needed to be 15% of the check, which is clearly not stated on our receipt. Customers aren't obligated to pay tip if they didn't want to. Her service wasn't even that great.

I will admit, I'm not a huge fan of Korean tofu houses. I usually find the tofu soups to be too bland for my taste and I'm selective of the banchan (complimentary side dishes). However, to my surprise, I thought the food here was awesome! The pork tofu soup was a bit thicker than most I've had, quite flavorful, and it came with a decent amount of silken tofu and pork. I was also a fan of the banchan offerings they had that day - deep fried fish, tofu, fried seaweed, pickled bean sprouts, and pickled cucumbers. The price is pretty cheap in comparison to other tofu houses I've been to. It's about $8 for tofu soup and $15 for combo (tofu soup + Korean BBQ). The total for the four of us was about $50 -- not bad at all! I'm knocking one star off for service. The ladies here treated us like we were more of a nuisance, rather than customers. I asked for a glass of water and she came back and slammed all four of our cups down on the table. They weren't particularly busy last night but they took quite some time to bring out the banchan, a few minutes before our meals came out. It would've been nice to have gotten them earlier. When one lady came to deliver our rice, she just shoved everything around. One lady came to refill our waters and left without really checking on us or if we wanted any refills on our banchan, which we were in need of. Overall, the food is great, service could be a lot better, and parking is no problem.

When you walk in, this restaurant is typically busy and there is generally a short wait. The servers here are very nice and they greet you when you first arrive. The decor here goes with the theme of the restaurant and it's simple but nice. There are carvings noted on the tables here with korean words I believe and pictures. For food I ordered the kimchi and beef tofu soup and my boyfriend ordered the bibimbap. For starters the servers will bring out a cold tea and later the banchan which is an assortment of small dishes typically consisting of kimchi, bean sprouts, fish cakes, radishes, a whole fried fish, and various other items prior to the main meal. I love this part of the meal. It's unlimited and you can keep asking for more when you finish a side dish and it's always delicious. My tofu soup on the other hand was good but a bit salty for my likings. This could be due to the added kimchi to the soup but it was overall not too bad. It did the trick for a hot soup on a cold evening. My boyfriends bibimbap was cold and he didn't much care for it. Overall the food was decent and I enjoy the location of this place, so I'm sure we will be back for more banchan and tofu soup.

Tofu pot is so good here, such a treat for people like soup. The soup was flavorful, and the side dishs are delicious too, they give you different kinds of kimchi, and a lit fried fish, so so so good, definitely is a go to place, and was not price at all. Tofu pot for under 10 dollars, hell yeah. Can't wait to go back!!

I've been eating here for years now. They have the best kimchi soup among several places I've tried in Atlanta, Albany, CA and Incheon Airport and Incheon City in Korea. The soup is so well-balanced and tastes just perfect. (They do have off-days but that's rare.) Most Korean places I've been to only offer kimchi soup with pork and the soup often has some strange pork smell. Not this place because they serve kimchi soup with beef and the beef is very tender. Their cold noodle is also very good. The toppings here (sliced beef, pear, radish, etc.) are perfect for my liking. Bulgogi and galbi also taste great. The galbi has nice smoky and balanced flavor but some pieces can be very tough and chewy. If they could work on this, that would be really great. Other places often serve galbi that's more tender but a little too sweet. Their side dishes used to have a lot of things I like such as little anchovies, boiled potato in soy sauce, marinated egg and Korean pepper. Lately, those dishes have disappeared, although the kimchi has improved in terms of freshness (it used to taste too sour). Other side dishes that I like and still show up from time to time include potato salad, crispy seaweed, broccoli and ham. The fried fish is always consistent and salted just perfectly. They know me pretty well now so I always get good service from them. Korean servers are not chatty. They will take orders, serve food, come back to check if you need refills on side dishes or water or tea (probably except when they're really busy and can't keep up). That's pretty much it and you just have to understand that. I like it that way though.

This restaurant was great and family friendly. The food was amazing. Our group ordered four varieties of their tofu soup which is their specialty and all of them were excellent. The side dishes that came with our food were also very good. Their food wasn't loaded with MSG and sodium. The price was very reasonable as well. On top of the excellent food, the restaurant and the restrooms were meticulously clean which added a great atmosphere to the place. The servers were also very friendly and were able to recommend good food. However, they didn't come back to our table after serving us our food. So if we needed something, we needed to call them over. Our group was more than pleased and we will be returning very soon. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I tried this place with a friend who is Korean. I have been back twice without her. I have had several dishes but I don't know the names of the items. One is octopus with veggies and noodles. And another was a cold veggies with beef dish (my favorite). Most people visiting are Korean but they made me feel welcomed and helped us making order choices. The mini side item are great - especially the radish salad. They also serve barley tea water. Makes you feel warm inside. I don't know the culture very well but they do eat while customers are around. Although not what I'm use to, it does not impact the service. Prices are reasonable. You see team work when waiting on customers. You get free refills on the side items. They are not the same sides everyday. And the mini fish is cooked perfectly. You get one with your order and can purchase an additional for $1 each.

I don't know jack shit about Korean food and intend on changing that. So i go to places like book chang dong tofu house. I had been here a few times, and was in the mood for bibimbap. But this place didn't occur to me...as i was checking Yelp, i noticed book chang dong tofu house was showing up as #1 on the list, while searching for bibimbap in my area. Within minutes i was on the highway, took the pleasant hill exit and raced towards Hmart plaza, behind racetrack gas station. No need to see the menu Mrs. Waitress, i already know what i want. 1 beef bibimbap in the hot stone with extra beef. 1 galbi (korean short rib bbq) and 1 tripe tofu soup for the lady. I always used to think they don't give you enough beef in the bibimbap here, the extra option solved that. Then i asked for a scissor and started cutting the galbi into my bibimbap. Genius, whoever invented that. I've had the seafood bibimbap here also...but didn't really enjoy that. Even though i love seafood. The galbi was good too....to my korean food noob eyes. Not alot of char, but tasted good. The tofu soups are the coolest tho. When they are brought out, they're all bubbling like a volcano about to erupt. You are also given an egg, to drop into the soup, which adds a nice richness. I hear the banchan is pretty good here...and i'll have to agree.

This restaurant is kinda far from me, so it's always a treat when I get to go. Very inexpensive quick lunch, the galbi tastes great! They also bring you several small dishes like kimchi, bean sprouts and fish. The bulgogi is ok, id only recommend the galbi really.

This is my favorite tofu house. However, I come here only for the food. The service is 'meh'. Do not get the seafood pancake, it's basically all flour and a few pieces of shrimp, oysters, and squid. My boyfriend and I always share the tofu + galbi (short beef ribs) combo (I think it's around $15). Great price for 2 people in my opinion. I always get 1 of the 3: small intestine (gob chang), beef, or mushroom, extra spicy. Though it ends up hurting on the way out, it is soooo good going in. ;) oh and adding the egg is always dericious. The side dishes vary, but always delicious. However, they always serve a small fried fish (my fav!). They serve the rice out on a stone bowl. You then get the rice and put it into a small rice bowl. The waitress should walk around and pour some barley tea into the stone bowl. The extra rice in the stone bowl, that is slightly burnt (light brown) is called neu-rung-jee. I save this for last. It has a great taste to it...possibly acquired taste? All in all, come here for the food and do not expect 5 star service.

Service is kinda bad. But i wouldn't expect any better at Korean places. To Koreans, service means take order, bring food to the table, and deliver check. I eat here often with my coworkers for lunch and food has been consistent. I always get the fish roe, extra spicy with bbq rib combo. Although it has the same name as the infamous BCD Tofu House in LA, it tastes nothing like BCD in LA. But for Atlanta Korean restaurants, it's decent and consistent and I'm not super super sleepy after eating it....so i guess they don't throw a whole bag of msg in the pot afterall! Would definitely recommend for a cold rainy day when you are craving a hot spicy tofu soup.

What's up guys! I am by no means a Korean Food expert. I have only tried Korean food a hand full of times, but have always loved everything that I've had. Bulgogi, Samgyeopsal, Bibimbap, etc. - I find it all delicious! Tonight I decided to venture to Book Chang Dong with one of my homies to try and deepen my palette for Korean food. I was not disappointed! The banchan was great and came out soon after we were seated. I especially enjoyed the fried mackerel, which is not something I was expecting to have come out. The fish was extremely crispy and salted to perfection. I couldn't think of anything that would go better alongside a bowl of hot rice. Biting off the fish head was also a pretty interesting experience...it was super crispy and equally as delicious as the rest of its body. Not sure if I was suppose to do that, but I'm not mad about it! Try it for yourself - Don't hate! For my entree, I ordered the spicy soup with beef and seafood - Yukgaejang I believe? Correct me if I am mistaken. I am new! - and couldn't be happier with my choice. It came out as a bubbling cauldron of spicy goodness and I enjoyed cracking the egg into the bowl, watching it disappear into the bubbling sea of red spice. Quite the presentation if you ask me! Contrary to other people's experience, the service was fantastic. It may have been because the restaurant wasn't quite as busy as usual...? Who knows. Our server was extremely nice and came by to check on us periodically. All in all, I will definitely be returning! Please let me know if y'all have any recommendations for my next trip there or for any great Korean restaurants in Atlanta or the surrounding area. K.Chak

What an awesome Korean restaurant. First off, I was so amazed about the number of Korean establishments in Duluth, Georgia. I thought I had died and gone to Kimchee heaven. Be warned, not all of them are good but this one definitely stands out! The banchan that was provided was the best that I have had by far. They even gave us mini fried fishes and they were generous in size! They provided one for each of us - what a treat! I could have had the fried fish alone with the stone pot rice but I also had to leave room for the Galbi and bibimbap. Galbi and bibimbap had no complaints from me! Sundunbu was awesome and I do not think it was expensive considering the quality of food and level of service. Cant wait to go back and visit

Still don't understand how soon tofu is considered as a health food in America... yes, it has tofu which is healthy, but that's about it. A lot of sodium and spices for flavoring, and depending on what kind you get, it could contain regular beef, dumplings, or some other stuff not associated with the word "healthy" That being said, Book Chang Dong is awesome. I love their soondoobu. For you newbs, you can customize the spiciness as well as the type of tofu soup you are getting. You also get a rice cooked in a small stone pot that is frakkin hot. After you dig out the rice, they'll pour barley tea water in it to make a gruel for dessert. Enjoy the side dishes! and The fried fish that comes with it. If they didn't give you a fish, you've been jipped. And make sure you put the egg into the soup while its boiling over. I always leave this place stuffed. BTW, if you want something else on a hot humid ATL day, get their nengmyun. I love it here. PS. Thank you for always blasting your AC to full on hot days.

Like all the other reviews, the service here is TERRIBLE! The waitresses literally scowl and throw food at you. I can usually overlook bad service (especially at Asian restaurants) if the food is good but I can no longer bring myself to fork over my hard earned $$ to be treated so terribly.

FINALLY!! A GREAT TOFU HOUSE!! sigh* ever since that 24hrs tofu house on buford highway were closed (and has now been bulldozed to the ground and replaced by a QuikTrip gas station *tears*) I have been on the search for a great tofu house- and that search has lasted for well over 2 years now. Almost by accident we ran across this place , and here's the dish: SEAFOOD TOFU: MMMMMMMMMMMMMM... a boiling clay pot of spicy tofu soup with clams, baby octopus, and other delicious things that were quickly devoured. It came with a pile of steaming jasmine rice and an egg that you crack open on this beautiful tofu concoction- DELISH! For under 10 bucks? FABULOUS. now hubby ordered something quite adventurous, and I think he was a bit way over his head. I cant remember the dish exactly but it was cold noodles with raw fermented fish ... hmm... he was ok with the noodles and all the wonderful little trinket of goodies that came with it like kimchi, fried fish, radish, sweet potatoes, and lots more ... but he said the raw fermented fish was a bit too much for him... but that doesnt mean the food was not good! He was just not ready for that kind of authenticity. All in all, a wonderful gem. The ambiance was crisp and clean, and the service was fast and friendly. My tummy and tastebuds celebrated that day... yours should celebrate too.

Went last night, thought everything was very competent, but what I actually went for--the soondubu jigae--was one of the more 'meh' parts of the meal. I like my seafood tofu soups to be a little richer, stew-ier. Er, or more "stew-like"...stew-ier makes it sound like it's some sorta reference to Family Guy. Which it's not. I love Brian, by the way. The soondubu here tasted like it hadn't been simmering very long, especially since the tofu, though silken, was still in large, very intact clumps, as opposed to them falling apart, as I like mine to be, since usually by then, the tofu has been cooked long enough to soak up all the flavors of the orangey broth. Ah well, again...it was still competent. Overall taste of the broth was good, just not as rich as I like would have liked. Panchan was all fine, although nothing out of the ordinary. Bummed that there was no kkakdugi (seriously, the closest I can intonate that word for the non-Asians is "cock-dookie", it's pickled daikon, my favorite kimchee variety...yeah, it is ;) and I dare those of you non-Korean speakers to ask for it by name). Asking for another fried mini mackeral costs $1, but hey, with this economy, I totally understand. The surprise of the evening was the galbi, which was really very good, considering this was a tofu house. It's LA-style galbi (meaning it's sliced on the ribs' cross-section), which I like more than the lengthwise cut. I feel like the marinade coats more of the meat...or maybe I just like what I grew up with. But the quality of the meat was good, and the marinade was tasty without being too sweet or overdone. I kinda wish I had gotten a bigger order, as opposed to just the combo order. The seafood bimbimbap (the rice casserole with seafood) that my dinner companion got was also yuuummmmy! I kept stealing burnt/crispy rice from the edges of his clay bowl. Plenty of seafood and everything tasted fresh. I might not come here especially for the soondubu, but the bimbimbap and galbi could merit a return visit.

DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT ! My boyfriend and I had a table with a view of the kitchen and when we first sat down we saw piles of raw kalbi stacked on top of each other with some pieces that were about to fall on the ground.. Well after we ordered our food we kept starring at the kalbi just waiting for it to fall, eventually one piece fell and the kitchen worker picked it up, looked at us and put it back on top of the other kalbi. A couple seconds later more pieces fell and he picked them all up and stacked them on top. We were disgusted and cancelled our order and left..

This place has the best fried fish side dish, but their other side dishes are mediocre. I also didn't think much of the service as it left a poor impression on me. It's not the best tofu place, but conveniently located in the Hmart plaza so I have been here a couple times just to grab something before/after shopping at Hmart. Their tofu soups are missing that extra flavor you find at the great tofu soup places. The Korean BBQ is good here, but it's also good pretty much anywhere in Duluth.

  • Cindy W.

I like this place! Buy your groceries at Hmart and hit up this place! Though if you are buying perishables, be sure to ask for ice or go eat, then shop at Hmart. The fried fishies are great (watch for children though, the bones could be a hazard), and the banchan is pretty good (nothing too remarkable). I tried the mandoo soondubu (extra spicy), beef soondubu, kalbi, and seafood pancake (haemul pahjun?) here. All were really good, though I would probably skip the pancake..since I feel like I could make it at home for much cheaper. It was also a little runny, so they might have taken it off the grill a little early.... Anyway, take the raw egg and immediately pop it in your soup! Stir it around if you like a creamier consistency, or leave it if you like a clearer broth with egg hunks :) Service is ok here, and bonus points- the rice is sticky, and the charred bits on the bottom is the best!! TL;DR: Pretty solid choice for Korean grub. Definitely go here if you have a craving for Korean food. Try not to sit at the table in the farthest corner, next to the conditioner, because it'll be super warm....

I reside in the vicinity of Koreatown and very rarely venture to try this exotic (for me) cuisine. So to make a 180 in this area of my life, I decided to drag my family and bf with me to Book Chang Dong Tofu House (in the H-Mart plaza). After ordering, the waitress brought us plates of kimchee and other little plates of veggies. We were not even sure how to proceed, as Vietnamese people do not dine this way. My sister actually texted her Korean friend for advice, as we did not want to commit any faux pas while there. She said that we were to eat these little morsels as if they were our appetizer. Fried fish was brought out and I passed mine to everyone else, as I am a seafood hater (yeah, say what you want). We all enjoyed the pickled vegetables and everyone sans me liked the fried fish quite a bit. I ordered the beef and tofu soup, which came in a bubbling pot with a side of sticky rice. So I was sort of taken aback, as I had never eaten this type of rice with a savory meal (we use glutinous rice for dessert). A raw egg was also brought to the table for those of us with soup. The broth is hot enough to softly poach the egg. Like someone said, I would have liked my egg cooked a tad more. I loved the beef and tofu, but the rice was heavy for me and I only had a little bit. All in all, I would return, as I really loved the soup. Maybe this is offensive (so not my intention), but I may ask for it to go, so that I can have our traditional jasmine rice with the soup.

One of those typical Korean restaurants where the service sucks if you don't speak or isn't Korean. The food is just like any other Korean places, and I rather give my money to a place that appreciates my presence as a customer.

Tofu House wise, this is one of my favorite places. I like the selection of side dishes they offer, and it also includes a fried fish per tofu soup you order which you don't get every where. Another thing I like is their soup broth is tasty.

Im giving this place three stars because the food is really good in mine and my friend's opinion. BUT its not four stars because the service is horrible. There are always that vibe that i get when i go to this place....which is unwelcoming. The Korean waitresses doesn't seem to like us much or at all and we always feel like a pester coming here. But after so many years, im used to it and they actually seem a tad bit more tolerable to us. Anyways, I usually order the combo here. The one with the soup and about four or five pieces of Korean bbq ribs. It's the best of both world in my opinion! And for only 14.95, its not a bad deal. Also, with all Korean dishes, there are always side dishes that are refillable. My two favorite Korean soups here are seafood and mushrooms. You must try it out!

Just like the other locations throughout the US and Korea, this BCD is up to par with the rest. There is one thing that you order when dining here, the Soon Dubu Jigae (soft tofu stew). To Atlanta folks, this dish is very common, so there is really no reason to explain in detail. You can get a few variations in seafood, meat, or vegtable in levels of spiciness. A combo platter is also offered with kalbi and jigae together, which comes in handy if you are craving more than hot stew and would like to share. Dubu Jigae is the specialty, aside from the burnt rice crust novelty ending to your meal, which may or may not be offered to you. Even though I made a point to speak to the staff only in Korean, the burnt rice crust option was not offered to my table. Also, we were not all offered our own set of rice, since it was the end of the night. We were basically rushed to pay and leave the restaurant 15 minutes before closing. I wish that they were open later, because Jigae is excellent to eat late at night. BCD has the best quality Jigae in the area, and other late night or 24 hour places just cannot compare.

I genuinely love this place. I wish I could eat here all the time but its 20 mins away from the place I'm staying. The workers are very welcoming and they have no problem giving you extra fish. And the ribs are to die for! A must try if you're craving Korean.

Honestly I really like this place, it seems like a tradition Korean restaurant to me! Everyone was really nice! And I'm regular in here too. Every other week I been in here even though I don't eat beef !

The dirtiest kitchen i ever seen in GA since this trip. They microwaved the seafood while i was watching. Prices are reasonable but it does not mean that not to be clean. They posted sign on the wall saying that you can not take your leftover side dishes which means they use them later for other new customers. If you are hygienic person beware of this place.

I want to give this place 5 stars it deserves because of the food, but I can't because the service is just horrible. Yes this place is primarily for the korean tofu soups, which happens to be one of my favorite korean dishes. The galbi is also a great addition. You get at least 8 Banchan dishes (side dishes) which consists of Kimchi, bean sprouts, broccoli, seaweed, others. They also accompany the soups with an egg you can crack in the soup, and you also get a nice fried mackerel as well. The soups also has spice levels to it. I always go for medium because the first time I tried super spicy, and my lips were more red than my lipstick. lol. So really never any complaints about the food here. However, no matter how good the food is at any restaurant, the service also is the topper to the whole experience in my opinion. Every time I come here, there is always the grumpy ladies, or the ones who has attitudes at you when you first come in. One night me and my friend came here after studying, and it was at least an hour before closing. I understand most places don't like customers to come in at that time, but i was going to tip well to make up for the inconvenience. Me and my friend weren't even halfway through with our dinner, and it was like 30 minutes before closing, the guy at the cashier walked over to our table and told us to pay now so the staff can leave sooner, I'm like that is really rude. Especially when there are other parties as well. And The first visit, I came here with a few other friends to catch up, we got our checks, a few of my friends were was gonna tip in cash, when one of the waitresses didn't see a tip listing on the credit card receipt she told my friend "tip here also" In my mind that is also rude, maybe it is a korean thing, but i know for sure me and my friends don't go anywhere without tipping. So if you get my feel of the service experience here, then you understand why I don't like to go here often even if the food is that good. Buford Highway has a much better friendly service.

Heard from a local friend that this place beats the Soft Tofu House in Philly. The soft tofu was decent, but Philly slightly edges out this one. I would've liked my egg to be cooked a little more. The Kalbi was just okay as well. However, the menu is pretty extensive, more like a general Korean restaurant rather than a tofu house. BCD is actually a chain, and this BCD was on par with the one in NYC.

I have been to this place so many times that it's almost like an old friend now. The tofu soup is great, the nyeng myun is great, the service is friendly, and the free side dishes are delicious, especially it's salad and fried fish. However, the last time I went after not going for a long time, the tofu soup didn't taste as good as usual. I'm hoping that it was a one time thing, or that it was because of my own mood or lack of hunger. On behalf of it's place in my heart as an old friend, I will give it a few more chances before I make further judgment.

I remember coming here several years ago and it was fine average soondubu. Recently, as of 3 months ago, I went with my family. What a mess. We waited for about 10 minutes for a table. They were slammed. They were seriously not equipped for the amount of people they had. Once we got a table, ordered, we waited a very long time. Even for the ban chan. I could tell they were very busy, but since we hadn't eaten in a while, it was hard not to get cranky. I want to say we almost waited 30 minutes. It was also a little awkward because our table was right next to the door to the kitchen. There was no 'door' so we could see them washing and drying all the dishes by hand the whole time we were there and I could see how backed up they were. It wouldn't have been that bad but my dad has some sensitive GI issues and tries to eat by an exact schedule. Oh well. Also I saw a few people at the table next to us (non Koreans) who still had their rice in their stone bowl and packed it up to go. Most people take the rice out of the stone bowl, put it in a different bowl, and then lukewarm water or barley tea is poured into the stone bowl to make a certain type of rice soup/ "noo roong ji". I'm a little surprised that their server didn't show them how to do this. They need to learn how to accommodate non Koreans. Overall it's not bad, but I wouldn't want to experience that again, especially with so many other options.

  • Hannah S.

This place is not bad, but beware of the spice levels because I got completely punked one time. Like, it was so hot that my Korean friend couldn't eat it. The whole time I lived in Korea I had never been asked what spice level I wanted. They asked at this restaurant and I said, "I don't know, normal Korean spicy." I noticed the entire kitchen staff was not Korean, so who knows what their concept of normal Korean spicy was. I've been back at varying times and have ordered different levels. Still working on it. Give it a try if you're in the plaza for groceries.

Summary: Nothing to write home about. I love myself a great soon du boo, and coming from LA with all Korean roommates, it's basically a diet staple. I was really excited to try this place with the pretty good reviews, and when I arrived at 10pm on a Saturday, the restaurant was still packed - a great sign. The service here is sub par. I'm not sure if this is because of their lack of speaking English, but a smile and a tad of patience wouldn't hurt. Although jap chae was on the menu, it was either sold out or not available (the waitress just said a very firm "no"). We ended up ordering seafood tofu soup and octopus udon stir fry. The octopus was a bit fishy in the stir fry. The soup was just all spiciness and lacked the depth of flavor that usually is in the broth. As for the panchan (side dishes), they gave a good variety, but flavor-wise, I've had better. After eating here, I'm still craving a good soon du boo!

I'm kind of shocked to see a lot of people hatin' on the side dishes. I guess it's mainly when I come here. The sides dishes that were provided were potato salad, another potato dish, kimchi, pickled cucumbers, fish cakes, fried fish, and radish kimchi. I went with three people, and 4 of us ordered tofu soups, galbi, squid and udon noodles (I forgot what it was called) and bibimbap in a stone pot. The tofu soups all tasted the same, but the difference was the protein. (Nonetheless, it still tasted good) The soups also came with raw eggs for you to crack into the soup, and it cooks in the boiling soup. The bibimbap was typical, and the noodles were delicious. All of this totaled to around $60. It was around $15 a person, which is pretty cheap for the amount of food we bought. The service here is okay. The ladies were attentive, but they plopped the food down on the table and had scowls on their faces the whole time. I thought it was funny when my friend asked for a refill, and I also lifted my cup and asked her to refill my water while she was there. However, she just walked past my cup, and when I asked her again, she looked really annoyed. Oh well, as long as I get my food, right? In the end, food is nice, service is mediocre, but that won't stop me from coming back.

I would give a negative star if I could. The only good thing here is the steam rice and the fried fish. Don't waste your money go somewhere else. I eat Korean food all the time and I thought I would try something new. Never again at this place

There's nothing that I love more than a big bowl of souppie. Yes, you just read correctly, I just called it souppie. Korean style hot pot soup served in a cast iron bowl is seriously one of my favorite foods ever. Cold weather, warm weather, I don't kur, I just love me some soup, and Chang Dong Tofu house certainly does my favorite dish justice. For my birthday this year I decided to skip out on the fancy shmancy dinner celebration and get some of the best Korean food Atlanta has to offer-- the Tofu House was rated excellently, and I had heard great things so I figured, why not? Their banchan (Koren side dishes) range from the traditional kimchi and bean sprouts, to a whole fried fish and potato salad! I ordered the kimchi tofu soup with added mushrooms, level five (of five) extra spicy. It was filled with veggies and tofu, and just spicy enough to make me tear slightly with my first bite (but don't worry, you can order it completely spice free if you'd like!) My favorite part about this dish is that it is so hot when it comes out in the iron serving dish, that you crack a raw egg right on top of it, and it cooks instantly, making the soup rich and flavorful with slightly runny yolk. YUMMMMMM. My friends ordered various rice/noodle/soup dishes that were all superb, and we all left absurdly satiated. One of my new hidden Atlanta gems I have discovered. Go me!

If you dont speak korean or you're not very familiar with korean dishes then don't go here. YOU WILL BE TREATED LIKE SHIT HERE! Servers barely speak English, so if you have any questions they'll look at you like some sort of aliens. They made us feel very uncomfortable and even almost yelled at me at one poing for asking why there were so little ribs (6 small pieces.. Literally) even though we just ordered 2 combos ($30) worth of food. I felt we got completely ripped off because we came here before with a group of friends and everyone decided to split up in groups of 2 to split a combo. We were starving today and wanted a lot of food so we decided to go with 1 combo each. And guess what, we barely got any more food even though we now paid twice as much comparing to that last time with the big group. They gave me one bowl of rice and I didn't even bother asking for a 2nd one that I'm entitled to because I know I would be on the receiving end of that nasty attitude from the server again. Terrible experience. Food is alright otherwise but the service will definitely hurt this place. I decided not to tip because of that and the host ran after us to ask for money. I just straight up told him I didnt enjoy the service there. I know they were cussing me out but the server deserved that for having an attitude all night. I work at a restaurant too so I know when it sucks, it really sucks but at least keep it decent and treat your customers like human beings.

When I came into Book Chang Dong for dinner, the restaurant was full, but we sat right away. The menu was most in Korean, but a few brief English descriptions hung just below the Korean characters on a handful of menu items. If you have not had Korean food before, then this may be a place to go only if you feel comfortable putting trust in your server. Or just get the stone bowl, it's delicious and the most popular Korean dish. The server greeted us shortly, with one water and two teas between the two of us, with a short, "Are you ready to order?" I never got my water, but the tea was decent. The server was accommodating enough to make my bibimbap vegetarian- or at least leave the fish out and just have the tofu. The standard accompaniments came out quickly, and our meals following shortly after. The food was delicious, and cheap. I have paid double for the same dish. The service left something to be desired, but the food was great and you can't beat the price!

I've been to multiple tofu houses before and this one did not hit the best. the service here was horrible, I'm not even sure if my server spoke English bc she isn't even get my group's order right. we had to constantly repeat ourselves and did not understand what she as saying at all, better yet our food took forever to come. along with that, the food could have been better. I got the tofu soup combo with Korean BBQ and the BBQ portion was quite small compared the amount given at other tofu houses. overall, I would say I'm probably not coming back here again

  • Allene T.

One of my favorite tofu houses!! I've probably been here more than 15 times. I got the bonus card where you can get 5% back and redeem the card for a free meal (when you reach a certain amount, i.e. $9 - gets you a free tofu soup). The quality and service here are always consistent, unlike some of the other tofu houses I've been to around the area. I always get the beef seafood tofu soup and it always comes out bubbly and steaming in the stone pot. There's always a good amount of the seafood/beef too - I know of some places that literally give you like, a shrimp and an oyster and a couple pieces of meat and call it a seafood beef tofu soup. I usually order medium spicy here and it's just perfect - doesn't leave you gasping for air or looking around for a glass of milk. The little dishes here are amazing and everyone that orders soup gets a fish! Tips: get a bonus card if you plan on returning multiple times, order medium spicy so you don't die, not recommended on a hot summer day because you start sweating and the AC is pretty weak

Really cute decor - you feel like you're eating outside in a Korean garden (even though you are really inside). Service was not very good, even with a Korean speaker at the table. However, the food definitely makes up for it. The fried fish was yummy. The banchan was pretty good. The soondubu was so yummy...perfectly spicy with great bold flavors. I highly recommend if you're nearby!

As much as I love listen to Korean music and watch Korean movies and dramas, I have never really eaten at a Korean restaurant. Although I've been to Korean bakeries for carbs and sweets, but never sat down in a restaurant. One of my friends suggested that I go with her and another friend to Tofu House. It's one of her favorites. I like tofu and would love to try Korean food with someone who knows their stuff. To my surprise, I go in the same shopping center for the past many years and never stepped foot in the restaurant. Mainly because I am unfamilar with Korean food. The staff is friendly and helpful. I must say that when I say Spicy, it IS spicy. Wow, I loved it. I was impressed with the many condiments. I got the pork tofu soup. I ate more tofu than meat! Next time, I will just get the veggie soup. I would go again. I'm quite impressed.

Dolsot bimbimbap + sundubu + hite = let me translate... dolsot bimbimbop = like a fresh combination fried rice served in a blazing hot stone bowl. You mix all the food together and let the rice at the bottom get crispy. I got the special (last item on the menu), so baller! sundubu = soft tofu soup. unlike so kong dong, you can't specify spiciness level but the default spiciness could be much for novice om nommers. hite = i think this is korean beer. comparable to maybe a hiney So kong dong was my go to spot but BCD has been named the champ! *for all the other reviews bitchin about service, here's a bit of advice. asians don't provide great service. there i said it! shocker...

One of my Korean Friend introduce me to this place 4 years ago. Since then I go at least 12 times a year. Its located on the left end of the Super H mart. This is a great Place for Korean Food. Tofu soup is the best with short ribs. The staff is supper friendly and the food is allot cheaper than the other Korean restaurants around the area.

Bad service!!! I came here with some friends and after sitting no one took our order for almost 15 min. I would have been fine if it was packed but there was only 4 other tables besides us when we went. Head down to Buford HWY it's much better.

This is the place I go to every time I want some Korean food. For me, they are unique because their rice is made in a clay pot which burns the layer of rice that is directly touching the pot; "burns" means that the rice is slightly overcooked to a crispy/crunchy texture. All their tofu soups are served steaming hot, and are amazingly flavorful with more tofu then you might want. Side dishes, side dishes, and more side dishes! I can just eat only the side dishes with rice and have a great dinner here. No other place has the best side dishes, period. I always notice that people who work there don't smile much or have any kind of facial expression when interacting with you, which gives me the feeling of being unwelcome but I don't care that, all I care about is the deliciousness that I stuff myself with when I'm there.

I love this place! The atmosphere is very family friendly. I have been here more than a handful of times either with friends or with my family....and I always leave here on cloud nine. I'm Vietnamese but whenever I take my family out, they love the banchan. And this place has the best, including the fried fish. Not only are they delicious, but they are soooooo generous, giving in to my family's multiple requests for more! Their tofu soup is great and bulgolgi is MMmmmm, and they have great deal for you to have both for $13-14, so everything else is icing on the cake!

My favorite place to go for Soon dubu! My usual is the kimchi beef soon dubu combo with the kalbi. YUM! Perfect for cold days. Their service is pretty quick, but sometimes there are miscommunications because the servers are elderly Korean women. Understandable. Once you are promptly seated, you are handed menus and hot barley tea. The larger the group, the less banchan you get. (Seems that way because the table gets cluttered fast full of food!) The banchan varies with what they have available, but I love and MUST have the fried fish. The soon dubu comes out BUBBLING hot, and looks sooo good! I'm drooling just talking about it. If you have more than one orders of combos, they tend to give you less kalbi because they supposedly put two servings on one sizzling platter, shared. But it's a lot of food anyways, so it's not that big of a deal. I've only had one bad experience here, and it was one time a couple of friends and I paid separately and forgot to leave tip on the table (but some of us left tip on our card) and the woman actually ran after us, telling us we didn't leave tip. Really?? It was not a problem to leave tip for us, but it's optional for every customer and running after someone just was outrageous to us all. But other than that, I still love the place. haha

I wish the service was a little bit better so I could give it 5 stars. And considering I dine here regularly (or used to, until I found a better alternative), they're customer service just lacked extremely. However, I can't really deny the awesome tasting FOOD here! The side dishes are so plentiful. One word: yum! They always come out with a fried, salty fish that I can eat clean straight to the bone. Their salad is your typical salad, with a bit more vinegar taste to it. Rice is served in a huge, black pot that if you empty it out into another bowl, the leftover rice still stuck on the black pot can be used again. Brace yourself, because they come around with this hot tea in a pitcher and pour it right back into the black pot. This breaks up the rice or something? But whatever, it still tasted like tea with a twist! All the other small side dishes vary. Sometimes there will be this sweet/salty squid thing. The next you might get fish cakes. And some other time we got seaweed salad. I *always* get the oyster tofu soup and bbg rib combo. The meat is extremely delectable...MOUTHWATERING....oh yummm. Thinking about it again is making me hungry. And the soup is just wonderful comfort food. For the level of hotness, I always order "spicy" but it's not really spicy to me. However, I do find the soup to be a tad bit salty...you really do need the rice to down this soup down. Or a large glass of water. FYI, they do NOT take american express here.

I absolutely love this place. This is my go to spot for good soon doo boo (tofu soup) and chik neng myun (Korean cold noodles). The prices are around the same as other soon doo boo places. They give you a nice variety of side dishes and pretty much everything is delicious. I'm really picky about my neng myun and would never eat it unless it was made by my mom, but the neng myun here is perfect. The broth is delicious and has a depth of flavors. The noodles are perfectly chewy. And the slices of pear are a refreshing touch. I've been here countless times and plan on continuing to be a faithful customer.

If you're looking for anything other than the spicy tofu soup, I'd bypass this little gem. But if you're feeling some bubbling hot soup with jiggly tofu and yummy ingredients of your choice (ranging from seafood to dumplings, and for the adventurous- intestines), you are in for a treat! This is my go-to place for tofu soup. They keep their menu simple. 9/10 I get the mixed tofu soup that has a good variety of ingredients. I found that the dumpling version soaks up the soup, and you are left with fat dumplings and tofu. Sometimes I'll go for the LA galbi + tofu soup combo, though the galbi can be a little too greasy. They keep their menu simple; the side dishes (crisply fried fish!) delicious. I dig the traditional wall papers and decorations. A solid choice for lunch/dinner in the Hmart plaza.

Best place for Korean food. Love the variety that comes with the meal. The Kimchi is good. The soup is good. Fried fish is the best, and Korean BBQ speaks for itself. Probably the best Korean joint I've experienced in the state of Georgia. For now at least...

My homie Joe and I wanted to try something new and we decided on this place based on other Yelp reviews. When we got to the 'Super H' district, we weren't sure which one was the place we wanted to be cause every surrounding store was in Korean, but we found it. It's a very humbling small place, and the staff was friendly and courteous. I ordered #29 which was the Seafood rice hot pot which was DELICIOUS. We also ordered some Kim Chi along with other things. The price for my meal was about $10. I'd def go back again and my homie Joe agreed this place was bomb :) Enjoy.

After my sister and I got a haircut at Scissor Hands, we decided we want to eat Korean barbeque for dinner so we went to the nearest Korean Restaurant in the area. I love their barbeque ribs!!! They serve generously so I shared mine with my sister. They also had plenty of sides. My other sister got ribs with tofu so I got to try that too. It was so good! The place is not that big and fancy. It's just some place you want to go to if you like korean comfort food with friends and family. Service is pretty fast and bathroom (i'm particular) is neat. I would like to go back in here.

Banchan was above average here and I had some really good stuff. The service was prompt and friendly. I came here for the korean short ribs which I always do when I try out new korean places. I didn't think it was as good as places I had been before but I have had better as it was a bit more rubbery then usual.

Looks and feels like So Kong Dong, small, simple, and clean. Small menu but offers a few more items than SKD. Even the banchan dishes are similar, always with the fried fish and chapchae (stir fried vermicelli). I've had tofu bowl, cold noodles, and bi bim bop here. All were good, and comparable to SKD. Ever since I had the noodles at Abaee though, the noodles at other places just don't compare. Service is very good. Lots of families come here it seems. This is an above average tofu house that is far from where I live and close to a bunch of other good Korean restaurants. In other words, it's difficult to pick Book Chang Dong for a meal when I am in the area. Every time I've been I was going to H Mart with people who wanted to go here. Therefore only 3 stars, and not 4.

I eat here all the time. I usually get medium spicy tofu soup. There is also the choice of mild or hot. There is a wide variety of tofu soups: pork, beef, seafood, combination, mushroom, and much more. The bbq meat and the beef bowl is also very good. They also have bibimbap. They usually give you rice, a raw egg, kim chi appetizers, and a fried fish if you order tofu soup. Other entrees may come with rice and kim chi.

We came here last night with a few friends- we originally wanted to get So Kong Dong ITP, but since they're closed on Tuesdays (evidently, we weren't the only ones who didn't know that- plenty of people came by the So Kong Dong parking lot while we waited for our friends, and left disappointed), we decided to make a trek up to Duluth, since most of the newer, and perhaps better Korean places are there. My wife suspects that the owners of this place may be the same as that of So Kong Dong- the decor is similar, the quality and taste of the food is similar (except NO jalapenos! PTL!). And per my ever so keen observation, they both have 3 syllables and a 'Dong' in their name. (please, don't take me seriously on that) Anyway, we each ordered the following tofu soups- Oyster- You couldn't expect fresh oysters...so yea, just okay. Score: 3 Vegetable Dumpling- This was mine- I really liked their vegetable dumplings, which were pretty big- alas, you only get 3 of them (otherwise there'd be no room for tofu). Tofu was silken, and the broth was adequately flavorful (still really happy about no jalapenos!) Score: 4 Our friends ordered kimchee beef and seafood tofu soups- the seafood seemed to skimp on shrimp. Understandable, but boo. Three of us ordered kalbi (short rib) combos with our soups. Flavor was spot on, and the meat was not overcooked. Good stuff. Score: 4 The kimchee panchan were better than most places (except for Abaee Noodle's kimchee), and it was nice to get the fried fish, though mine was a bit overfried. Score: 3.5 I agree with several reviews here that this place will not blow you away- but it's solid. Overall score: 3.75

This shit hole doesn't even deserve a star. The food is good but because we ordered two combos, we got less ribs. STUPID. And every time I asked a question, The woman replied to me as if I was stupid and dumb. It's not my fault that the server didn't speak English, so I had to repeat my self multiple times. She had an attitude the whole time we were there. I know I came an hour before closing but I know how to tip so I was gonna add more for the inconvenience. She almost yelled at us for asking why we only had one plate of ribs even though we ordered two combos. NEVER ORDER TWO COMBOS WHEN ITS JUST TWO PEOPLE BECAUSE IT'S NOT WORTH IT! You literally get one combos worth of food. I honestly thought about giving her just a dollar but I didn't think she even deserved it after the way we were treated. After we walked out of the door, the host in the front ran after us asking about a tip. You never asked for a tip... You get it when you deserve it. OVER ALL, NEVER EVER AGAIN :)

Went here on a whim with my Old Roommate and dear friend Caitlin, after picking up her brand new car from the Honda dealership! The food here is clean, yummy, and very abundant for the price. For 13.99 you can get a descent size tofu soup of your choice ( I chose the beef with seafood tofu soup) and Kalbi. Bon Chon ( sides) were plenty and the cucumber was crispy and deliciously pickled, full of flavor! There is a button to get the attention of your server, which I think is a wonderful idea! Servers were older ladies, all very nice and sweet! The soup and all the foods came out bubbly and piping hot! A++ for quality and price!

Toefood not really most interest tasting food but somehow I go taste Chang Dong Tofu and it real bring exciting dilemma to tofu flavor. I try other toefood house, but no taste like chang dong. The seafood beef combination tofu soup bring fullfulling triple threat punch to all taste bud for seafood lover, beef lover, and vegan lover. Pricing very cheap considering you already full from eating a lot free kim-chee before he give you toefood soup. I normally eat kim-chee and bring toefood togo. The place looking historic Korean town and buautiful to taking picture but a little tight so be careful when you moving to take photo. Only one bathroom so no blaming that someone for taking long time. My advice just be patient, go before you eat to much kim-chee. Next time I go back to eat Chang Dong.

Do not go here for the service. You're going for the good Korean tofu soup and you get a ton of food. The banchan, or small appetizers, differ every day. The are always good and usually have some radish, bean sprouts, fish cake, etc. We love this place the most because you get a fried fish with each order. We've had all the tofu soups and they're great. You can ask for mild, medium or hot spice. The hot is really really hot! It comes with a serving of rice, either white or red bean rice upon request.

lots of banchan here. better than others. If that's your sort of thing. Kalbi is the reason i came here today. One order is priced fair and well portioned, decent flavor too. This place is a full 4 stars b/c kalbi tang is only 6 bucks! 4 dishes, enough food for two meals for two ppl. ~$50 very decent deal for above average korean meal.

I've been meaning to try Book Chang Dong for quite some time now. Unfortunately, it's hard to motivate myself to drive out to Pleasant Hill when I have good Korean food down the street from me on Lawrenceville-Suwanee and can also easily hit up So Kong Dong on my way home from work. Tonight, I finally talked myself into checking it out. I think I would have enjoyed my dinner more if my server hadn't insisted that "medium is best" when I asked for my beef soon du bu extra spicy. Sigh. I mean, I know it's to be expected, but still... sigh. Is there a secret handshake or something that I can learn that will instantly make people serve me spicy soup in Korean restaurants? Other than that, my soup was pretty good. The beef was a more generous portion than I've seen at other Korean restaurants. However, the quality of the meat wasn't the best I've had. The flavor (other than the distinct lack of spiciness) was good. Banchan was pretty good, especially since it included the whole fried fish. Still, I left disappointed because all I really want is some extra spicy soon du bu. Maybe I just need to keep going to the same restaurant over and over so they'll know me well enough to trust me with spicy food. Maybe they'll put up a sign in the back that says "Please feed this white girl spicy food." One can hope, anyway.

My devastatingly handsome bf, Michael, and I were in the need of some serious warming on a freezing cold Saturday night. Our minds were set on the soul warming saunas and baths of Jeju, but first, we were hungry. How to fix that? Tofu soup! Book Chang Dong Tofu House is located in a shopping center along with Super H and a plethora of other like minded restaurants- not far from Jeju. It's located on the lower level of the Western most section of the shopping center. The menu is brief, the restaurant is sparse, he service is delightful, the food is stellar. Michael quickly scanned the menu and decided on pork tofu soup. I opted for a combo of beef short ribs and kimchi tofu soup. Our waitress tried to explain to me that the kimchi is "very spicy", gave me a raised eyebrow, almost pleaded with me to reconsider, but eventually accepted my order. Within minutes, we each had a sizzling pot of white rice and a nice spread of banchan: two varieties of kimchi, two whole steamed fish, cucumbers, sprouts, two noodle dishes, and some sort of egg dish. Everything was delicious. My short ribs were out next: a nicely sized cast iron skillet piled up with juicy beefy bits with onions and peppers. Next, a cart with two bowls of soup, full on rolling boils, were wheeled to the table. The waitress carefully placed them before us; we sat back to observer the full spread of food before us- the soup was also blazingly hot. I dove into the short ribs. Slightly sweet, tender, juicy. Kinda fatty, but I expected that. The rice in my stone bowl was now browned, crispy and stuck to the bottom on the bowl. I scrapped out a few spoonfuls and added to the soup; which was very good. After the waitress' questioning of my "very spicy" soup, I had expected a heat on the level of something atomically hot, but the soup was really not all that spicy. Just delicious. Neither of use were able to finish the soup and we left completely stuffed. All of this was had for $22- quite reasonable for such a delicious meal.

I seriously seriously love this place to death!!! If I hadn't moved away from Atlanta I would still continue to come here at least twice a week! The food has great taste, it's super cheap compared to the other Kr restaurants in town oh yeah and did I mention it tastes awesome!! The staff is always super nice even if they're busy. If you go I recommend go around 1-3pm because it's usually pretty calm and not that many costumers However if you do not heed my advice, and go at dinner time prepare to see a packed restaurant and wait in line after 3-5 groups of people! I'm not saying it's not worth it, but it's quite mortifying. I always get the sundubu combo with the kr bbq I believe it was #13. The specials or the kr okonomiyaki is also great!

I actually like this place! I have eaten here a handful of times, but haven't in awhile since it's kind of far for me. I'd always get the mushroom soup that comes with rice or the bul-go-gi meat with rice. The sides they bring out are based on the day. Overall, not a bad korean place to have dinner.

I used to love So Kong Dong, until they let me down on my small intestine tofu soup. Small intestines, if not cleaned or prepared right, tastes... funny. Funny as in it's a bit sandy and that pork smell lingers in your mouth. I hate that, no correction, that's the fucking worst. So, we switched tofu places to Book Chang Dong. I know it's been here in the K-town district for a while, but I didn't really start coming here until this year. It's a nice little joint, with great banchan (side dishes) and dee-licious tofu soups. Try the specialities like mini-octopi (jyukumi) tofu soup or my fave, small intestine tofu soup! They give you a lot of small intestines and and always tastes great. Make sure to get it spicy though, it only tastes great when it's spicy. I get extra spicy, there's levels of spicy and my boyfriend and I always get extra spicy. The regular spicy doesn't really have too much of a kick. Also, for the reviewers below who thought the tofu soup was salty: it's meant to be eaten with rice. I eat VERY bland and I didn't find it overly salty, but each to his/her own. Another great thing about this place is their bibimbap. Bibimbap is a Korean dish that is normally comprised of vegetable banchans, a meat (e.g. bulgogi), rice, gochujang (Korean hot pepper paste), and sesame oil. Normally, most places give you bibimbap with just rice, veggies, and some meat. Here, you can get their special tofu bibimbap. I love this dish. Even though I'm Korean, I never thought to put tofu in bibimbap (albeit, I've mixed in plenty of other weird things since there was banchan hanging around in the fridge). It's ingenious! I highly recommend anyone to get the tofu bibimbap piping hot in the stone bowl (dohl soht dubu bibimbap)! Also, they have this nifty frequent buyers card now. If you spend a minimum of $10, you can get 5% of your total spent printed on your card. When you reach 10 pts, I believe you can redeem it for a free meal or a discount on your check. The guy at the front counter is super nice too! :D Make sure to ask him any questions you may have. He'll answer them all for you.

Hands down one of the best Korean restaurants in all of Atlanta! There are lots of choices for Korean food on Buford Hwy as well as in Duluth, but a lot of them just don't really impress me all that much. We came for lunch, so we probably didn't have the full experience, but it was still good nonetheless. We ordered the standard Kalbi, tofu soups, and bibimbap. My entire family can handle really spicy foods, so we went with "extra spicy" on our tofu soup. They really did follow that order, as our soups were scorching "hot". The banchan dishes were also great. Unlike many other Korean restaurants, they did NOT skimp on their portions for banchan. There was A LOT of it. We did ask for more of maybe 1 or 2 dishes that were exceptionally popular with our kids, but other than that, we had plenty to go around. The Kalbi was great too with no surprise. Some restaurants either make it too sweet or too greasy, or a lot of the time, too much of both. Well, BCD did not dissapoint on their Kalbi either. They were perfect and not to tough either I might add. Bibimbap was delicious too, although my wife stayed away from it because she's allergic to raw eggs. Service was typical for any Asian restaurant. But not too terrible. Drinks were refilled, and they checked on us occasionally. Prices were very reasonable. Can't wait to visit again when my family's back in Atlanta!

I was really sad to find out So Kong Dong was closed on Tuesdays, after anticipating having tofu stew for most of the day. Thankfully I remembered that this place was around. It is eerily similar (decor, menu) to So Kong Dong. I think this place offers solid tofu stews. The soup is rich and flavorful. I got the "spicy" version, which was delightfully red and had a good kick (but I was still able to eat it). There's about 7 side dishes or so, which is a lot more than most Korean places these days. Too bad this place is far away from home, or else I'd come more often.

One of few Tofu houses that I actually thought was pretty decently good. Their tofu soup was just as good as the other tofu houses that I've dined at. Their Dol Sol Bi Bim Bop was pretty good. BBQ beef - fairly good... My experience of the seafood pancake wasn't too pleasing -- too much of the batter, only few strands of veggies and seafood. I know that's normal for most restaurants, but others at least had a "fair" amount in their seafood pancake. Over all, decent place to dine. =)

Their menu is pretty simple. You can order different versions of tofu soup (seafood, beef, pork, mushroom...etc.) and request different "levels" of spiciness. They serve each order with an individual-sized pan-fried fish with each order, along with hot steamy rice. Their kalbi portion is HUGE and a great deal. If you go when it's crowded, service can be on the slow slide.

Our family came here for Father's Day. I originally planned on cooking a fancy meal, but one thing lead to another and I didn't have time to make the meal. I assumed all the nicer restaurants were probably booked. So, we just decided to eat here. I ordered the cold noodles. I don't even like them, but that day I was in the mood for them bc it was so hot outside. It was delicious! There was sliced pear, cucumber, egg, radish, and meat all in a broth with buckwheat noodles. The broth was so tasty. I ordered the combo that came with the gal bi. The gal bi was very good as well. You get a pretty good sized portion. My finance and mom ordered the seafood tofu soup. My dad ordered a cold noodle dish. It was grains and beans that were grounded up to a powder added with noodles. So his meal was like a grainy noodle soup. He is a health nut, so he enjoyed it. I can't remember what the Korean name for it. His dish was the cheapest out of our dishes. It was $5.99. I was thinking, maybe it was an app portion. For the 4 of us to eat, it was around $50 which also included tip. We had pretty good service for a Korean restaurant. I don't like eating soon du bo on hot days, so I'll be eating the cold noodle soup to cool me off in this Atlanta heat!

Ambiance: Book Chang Dong is conveniently located in the same shopping plaza as Super H Mart. Inside even has a little roof that juts out. They have metal spoons and chopsticks at every table. Food: When I come to Atlanta, this is the place I have to go for my fill of the soon du bu jigae. I'm a huge seafood lover so I always order the Seafood Tofu Soup. Mmmm... They also give you lots and lots of side dishes. It always comes with a salad, fried fish, and kimchi. There are usually at least 3 other side dishes that you can get unlimited refills. The menu is mostly filled with tofu soups. It also comes with the standard fairs of Kalbi, Bulgolgi, Dolsot Bimbimbop, Paejun etc. Service: Asian restaurants are pretty notorious for their service, or lack thereof. However, this place is actually decent. If you ever feel that the service has ignored you, there's a little button that you can push and a waiter will come to your table.

So far, this is the best soon du bu place I've found in the ATL area. The kalbi here is pretty good too but I noticed the bones were a bit osteoporitic and I would get itty bitty bone crumbs stuck between my teeth sometimes. The side dishes are pretty good and you each get an enormous pot of rice. Since this is in the Super H Mart center, I like to go have a nice tofu dinner and do some Asian grocery shopping afterwards. If you come here during peak hours, expect to wait in line for some time. If you're already eating here at peak hours, don't be surprised if they nudge you out the door as soon as they see that you're done with your food.

Went here on the way to Super H mart as it was recommended by a friend. The space is nice, I love the large tables, but the servers weren't all that friendly to us. I got the tofu soup/bbq combo for $12 or so. The meat was a poor cut, but it was cooked/flavored well. The soup was so damn hot I couldn't eat it for 20 minutes and even then I burned my tongue. The banchan was average, but not bad. A pretty good value for what you get, though the servers really didn't seem to like us and I had to wait 15 mins to get our check.

Have been here many times by myself and friends. We are always seated immediately. The inside is not that big compared to some other Korean restaurants in the area, but they alays have business. I always get the BBQ either kalbi or bulgogi. If me and my brother go we'll get both. I generally always get the same person taking my order. I recommend trying he barley tea with your meal. Most of the time they'll bring it without asking. As aways with korean meals you get your sides, i never get the same thing except the 2 0r 3 types of kimchi, sometimes a small fish, bean sprouts, a squid dish, something always different. Sometimes a miso soup or small salad. They have a good variety of soups, that are great as well. Prices are reasonable compared to the competition. I have never had a bad experience. If your not used to eating in a traditional Korean restaurant don't expect the service to be the same as if you went to any other restaurant. Location is at the Super H Mart shopping center..it is located on the very far left suite, downstairs in the shopping center not inside the Super H.

I go for the galbi which is very tasty here, and a huge portion. The galbi is basically short ribs (but cut differently) marinated in soy sauce, garlic and sugar. Aside from the galbi there are many side dishes (called banchan) which is an assortment of kimchi, radishes, roots among other things that come with your meal (you can get "refills" if you choose). You also typically get rice, soup, barley tea/water and some different hot sauces to use for your meat. I know a lot of people suggest Hae Woon Dae and I guess this would be a good first choice as well for introduction, but Hae Woon Dae is overrated and there are many better Korean restaurants in the area (sooooooooorry Creative Loafing but you need to do better homework). Now...I'm a huge galbi fan so this is what I suggest but obviously there is so much more to try. Tofu is big here as well. This is in the Super H parking lot, first restaurant on the left if you are driving in through the front entrance.

Right when we walked in, we were seated immediately. They gave us hot tea water (on the very light side and hardly any taste) and the lunch menu. I ordered #27. After we ordered, they brought out all the little side dishes. This is the part I love about Korean food. I just love these side dishes. So many of them and they fill me up! They tasted great and a lot of variety. Plus, great to eat while you are waiting for your meal, and best of all it is free. My order came in a hot rice bowl and still sizzling hot in front of me. Great on a cold winter day. It was so good with a lot of vegetable varieties, shredded beef, and egg. Keep in mind that the egg yolk is raw and you can either spoon it out or mix it in your rice to cook in the hot rice bowl. I enjoyed it and was so stuffed. For the amount of food you are getting, $8 per person is not a bad price for lunch. The food was fresh, healthy, and tasted like very authentic Korean food. I would definitely go again. Service is fast and excellent. Keep in mind the employees don't know a lot of English. They mostly speak Korean. Note: Be sure to get the frequent customer discount card before you pay. You get a discount to your bill the same day, right away. It's great because I love eating at this place!

This is my favorite tofu house in metro Atlanta. Their menu selection is great and their banchan is always satisfyingly good. Lots of tofu houses tend to hold out on their banchan with less variety but this place is usually quite generous. After ordering, the food comes out fast & the tofu soup comes out bubbling! When I come here with friends we get the combination specials. My favorite is the spicy seafood soup + galbi ribs. It's delicious and you'll probably walk out with a food coma right after. I also love their barley tea (free) because it washes everything down pretty nicely. I only took off one star because sometimes the ahjummas (older Korean ladies) working there can be a bit rude, but I think it just depends on what day you go. I'd probably give a 4.5 to be more accurate. Anyway, I definitely recommend this place-- especially on a cold & windy day.

coming from the LA area where there's a HUGE korean population, it was nice to be able to say they held their own. the menu selection was large enough to please veteran spicy korean food lovers like myself and my BIL but also appease newbies like my cousins as well, who are not able to get much, if any, korean food where they live. so it was nice to find this place to for us all to come together for dinner and experience something new with them that they thoroughly enjoyed.

Since my favorite korean restaurant disappeared I've been looking for an alternative. Stopped in here the other night and was pleasantly surprised. It is sort of small, but nice and clean, the wait staff was friendly and I loved getting fried fish in the banchan! I ended up with #28, which is beef in a stone pot and it was wonderful. Barely tea was brought to us immediately and overall I really enjoyed the experience. (Still miss Today though)

For whatever reason, I've been here more than my fair share. It seems to be the default place we go to when we're in the mood for Soon Tofu and nobody in the group wants to make a decision. I'm not sure if anyone of my friends actually LIKES it since the conversation usually goes like this: "Hey, make a decision on where you want to go, or else we'll end up going to that tofu place near H-Mart" (as if it is some big punishment for indecisiveness) The food isn't anything to write home about, but it is consistent. I've never been disappointed here, but I've never been wowed either. The place is fairly clean, service is quick, and the prices are reasonable. The place is also usually busy (good sign) but you'll rarely have to wait for a table. Would I recommend this place? It isn't something that really stands out in my mind, but if you're in the area and you're in the mood for soon tofu, it is a safe bet.

Had the spicy cold noodles and Korean BBQ. It was very good, the staff was excellent. What more could you ask for.

I came here because of the good reviews from other Yelpers. We found the restaurant to the left of the Super H Mart. The menu was fairly small, which was ok with me because I already knew I was ordering tofu soup. I ordered the vegetable dumpling tofu soup, and it was actually pretty good (hence the 2 stars). Most of the little side dishes weren't too bad either. However, my husband ordered (sorry don't know the proper name) rice and seafood in a hot pot, on recommendation of the server who said "it's better", and in reality it left a lot to be desired. It was dry, and the "seafood" was like those cheap seafood mixes you can buy in the farmer's market. The sauce they gave to put on the rice had no taste whatsover, so we didn't even bother. Very unsatisfactory. We love hot tea, but they brought us what looked and smelled like warm dirty dishwater in a plastic cup. No thanks. I wouldn't recommend this place to someone looking for some good all-around Korean food, but maybe if they just want a pot of tofu soup.

Food: Yummy! You get the traditional banchan (side dishes to eat with rice) - around 10 little plates of cabbage kimchee, radish kimchee, yellow tail fish (fried), fruit salad, some kind of lettuce salad, seasoned cucumbers, roasted potatoes with korean peppers, etc. Free refills. It's a lot of food in addition to your entree. I ordered the vegetable dumpling tofu soup - spicy. Basically it's a kimchee soup (jigae) with 3-4 dumplings, tofu, and various veggies. This also comes with a giant bowl of rice. I'm vegetarian and as far as vegetarian options that soup is the only one but you can order a rice dish without the meat. There's plenty of banchan that's vegetarian so you can get your fill even if you aren't a meat eater. Atmosphere: very clean, comfortable, lots of tables - some big enough to accomodate for large groups. Prices: very reasonable - total of whole meal average $10, and it's a lot of food. Service: It's actually really good! I thought all Asian places are supposed to have bad service. They even have a button at your table that you press and someone comes right over to you. How cool is that? All the waitresses were very nice and allowed for appropriate time interval to check up on you. Parking: Hmart parking lot. Location: facing Hmart the left most restaurant on the bottom level. Hours: I know they open 10 am everyday but not sure of closing times. Summary: I've been here 3 times, and it's been a good experience each time. Will probably be back again!

The nengmyun (cold noodles in broth) + galbi (marinated short rib) combo that they offer is what I normally order. Good stuff. Occasionally, I get the seafood or mushroom soon doo boo (tofu soup) which tastes just alright. The only reason it gets a 3 as opposed to a 4 is because I got food poisoning after eating here one evening - and so did my friend, who I was with.
