I've been meaning to try this place for a few months, so today with an hour so to kill in between meetings, today was the day. When trying out a Greek place, get the gyro. That's just my mind set, when in Rome... The gyro, beef and lamb specifically, was spot on. Soft, fresh pita, yummy, delicious creamy tzatziki sauce and fresh veggies. If you do not like onions, order without because they have a heavy hand with them. The restaurant is your typical lunch spot. Nothing life changing, but just a simple little spot in a strip mall. The place was busy as hell, which is usually a good sign. I do a lot of business in Alpharetta which means I am eating lunch out there quite a bit. Go ahead and add Papoulis to the roster. That's my word and I'm sticking to it.

AGAINST MY BETTER JUDGMENT! I recall eating at the restaurant approximately ten years ago, but for some reason, I never returned. I reasoned that the food must not have been good. Each time we would past this restaurant my husband would ask why we never eat there. It just never appealed to me after the first time. Today, he decided that he wanted to try it again and I, (against my better judgment), agree to go along. The food here is about as Greek as ketchup and this gyro was just a disaster. Allow me to delineate: 1.CHOPPED veggies belong in soups and casseroles, not on my sandwich. Sliced only. 2. If you tell me that my sandwich comes dressed, it needs to be FULLY dressed and I need to be able to taste every single element. 3. If I am ordering a protein based sandwich, this should be the primary ingredient and not a bunch of veggies and sauce meant to hide the fact that I have very little meat. 4. The sauce was not good and had an odd, broken texture. 5. Spiral fries from a bag (served with hubbie's plate), have no place in a Greek restaurant. Lesson learned.

I should branch out... But I always get the beef and lamb gyro whenever I eat lunch here and it is delish. I tried their baklava, wasn't bad, just a little overdrenched with honey. Won't be getting it again. If you're planning on going here for lunch on a weekday, be prepared to wait a little! It's a popular lunch spot. There's plenty of seating and their xfinity WiFi is free for an hour.

This restaurant had the BEST lamb gyro that I've had in a while! We originally found this restaurant through Groupon and will continue to go. The gyro had the perfect amount of veggies as well as meat at an average price. The atmosphere was clean and spacious as well. We went here for dinner during the week. We ordered at the counter and the food was delivered to the table of our choice. They have fountain beverages as well as sweet/unsweet tea and you can refill as many times as you'd like. They have their desserts in a display case which all looked delicious. They are located in a strip mall so they aren't hard to find. I'm looking forward to coming back again!

Been going to this place for years as I've been to two different companies in Alpharetta, both being close to this strip. So, me and some coworkers decided to try it out again since we haven't been in months. We got there close to 1pm, which is the best time to go, bypass the regular Lunch crowd and no seating issues. Overall, I do like this place, food is very enjoyable, and options are awesome. Normally I do get the Gyro plate, but is a lot of food ( no complaints here ). My co workers love the Gyro though. I think that if you are in the area and want some Mediterranean stuff, this is one of the only spots to go anyways, so I'm happy its actually good (food in this area is not that good). Tip: If you don't have Scoutmob, get it ASAP as it takes half off your purchase. Do Work!

Dined at this restaurant for dinner since it was so close to my office. I ordered the Gyro Plate and received a good amount of lamb meat on my place with a side of cucumbers, tomato and diced onions. I substituted the fries for a salad which came topped with tomato, feta cheese, banana pepper, olive and vinegar-olive oil dressing. I was hoping for larger pieces of pita bread due to the long, shaved sliced of lamb meat they provided so I had to cut the meat to fit the small pieces of pita. Also, they give you a tiny portion of tzatziki sauce, but they will give you more if you ask. Unlimited refills at the soda self-serve station so get a Small drink to save a few cents. Decent Mediterranean fare if you're looking for something quick and inexpensive.

Great little restaurant. They have a killer gyros sandwich. I had the regular vs the super, and with a beef/lamb mixture and feta cheese. Hot, fresh, and delicious! It came with so much meat, the lettuce, tomatoes, feta and tzatziki were hardly inside the pita at all; more like they were hanging on for dear life! I had some curly fries as a side .... but they weren't really worth mentioning. That's okay, the sandwich was awesome. Since this place is close to the office, I will definitely be back. As a side note, for folks who might be interested in certain dietary requirements ... this place offers halal chicken and will soon offer other certified meats. They have a selection of Mediterranean food products also for sale.

Came here with my co-workers for lunch one day. Pretty good and worth the wait. Gets very busy here. I had the gyro and it is good. The guy also who works the cashier is pretty bright and remembers what you order if you come here again.

Came here one day for lunch with Kelly M. and it was great. I was craving gyros meat so definitely looked forward to checking this place out. They are conveniently located in a shopping center and so parking is readily available near the restaurant. They've got a nice patio area out front and their dine in area is cozy. Plenty of booths and tables are available. Fountain drinks and teas are self serve and the restaurant itself is pretty well maintained/clean. I ordered the Yia Yia Favorite Greek salad and was satisfied. Wished they could've added a little bit more meat to the entree but the gyros (lamb) meat itself was seasoned well and not too dry. For those who don't like lamb, they do offer chicken gyros meat for any of the entrees available. When in the Alpharetta area and craving a gyros salad or sandwich, I definitely recommend this place for lunch or a casual dinner.

My friend Shady and I got here kind of early after seeing they had a scout mob and it was pretty empty. We got the vegetable combo platter which was ok. I didn't like the spicy sauce that it came with. Not even sure what it was. The falafel was good, but not authentic. The hummus was pretty good, but not enough pita bread for the amount of hummus they gave. The fava bean salad was awesome though. The service was neutral. The place is huge. I liked the garlic-tahini sauce that they had. When we were leaving, the place got really packed for lunch! This isn't close to where I live so I wouldn't come again, but it wasn't terrible either.

Decided to try this place out since it's near my office. The ingredients were fresh and the gyro I had was yummy. They accidentally put onions on my gyro although I asked for it without (hate onions), but they quickly fixed my order. You'll pay a bit more than you would for fast food, but it's worth it. Next time, I'll try the curly fries (love fries).

This is one of our new go-to takeout options, and I'm so pleased to have found it through Yelp. We've done both takeout and dine-in and had great experiences with both. On both occasions, we enjoyed a huge meal for two adults and one toddler for around $20. My toddler loves the kids grilled cheese, which is more like a quesadilla made on a pita. The husband and I have both enjoyed the gyros. My one complaint about the chicken gyro was a little odd in that I felt like there was too much meat. The second time we went, my husband had the chicken gyro again and said it was better because the meat was shaved instead of in large chunks like the last time. I, on the other hand, tried the Vegetarian (onion, tomato, feta cheese, avocado, alfalfa sprouts, and tzatziki sauce in pita) and was thoroughly pleased. Of course, on both visits, we have ordered and devoured some baklava. Great service. Great portions. Clean restaurant. Kid friendly. Fantastic prices. It's an all-around winner.

I'm a frequent dinner here and think I have worked my way through just about everything on the menu with the exception of perhaps the burger. I'm very partial to the Avgolemono (lemon chicken and rice) soup and the Dolmas, but the gyro is very tasty too. Their tzatziki sauce is top notch. I also highly recommend the Moussaka and Spanakopita. I could probably comment on all my other favs but will have mercy and sum it up by saying you really cant go wrong with anything here.

I found this place from scoutmob. Great experience!! I ordered the yia yia lamb greek salad. It was absolutely delicious!! All of the veggies were crisp and fresh. The employees were very nice and polite.

A little disappointing. Portions were extremely small, compared to other quick stop Greek places around Atlanta. Cashier made us feel extremely rushed to order, when there was no one in line behind us. Trash cans were nearly full, making it difficult to hold your tray while shoving trash into this tiny little hole.

Whenever I'm in the area, I have to stop in for my gyro and baklava fix! I discovered this gem of a restaurant when I first moved to Alpharetta from Ohio. But, due to long commutes, I had to move away. Nowadays, it's rare to trek up 400, but if I do, I know I'm eating here! Their food is that good! My 'go to' meal is a chicken gyro and baklava. Both are consistently good and fresh. They never take to long to prepare my food, bag it up, and send me on my way back home! Oh how I miss my Papouli's!!!!

    (5)
  • Kelly E.

Really great gyros and Souvlaki plates. The Greek side salads could be better. I suggest the curly fries instead. It can get really crowded around noon, so it's best to go before or after the lunch crowd because seating is limited.

    (5)
  • Wanda M.

I've been here before and had a good experience. Not this time. Bad service overall. They overcharged and seemed ready to go home even though they didn't close for over an hour. The food was pretty good. Just a let down because I had a great first experience.

  • J. W.

I definitely caught them on a bad day the first time. I *love* this place. I eat here at least twice a month for lunch. Service is fast, the food is on point. The olives are amazing, as are the Greek salads. The tzatziki is amazing and flavorful. You can get feta on the gyros. I have learned to stick to just the regular gyros as it's more than enough food for me. Yummy!!

    (5)
  • Donald O.

I have eaten here several times for lunch and never once been disappointed. The gyros are on point! And the curly fries are not to be missed with the dipping sauce. The gyros are monstrous, so I usually plan on skipping dinner when I lunch here.

  • Kristie D.

I'm in serious love with this place. I've already eaten here again! So far I've had the super gyro and the gyro plate. Generous portions of beef and lamb, and the sauce, oh my! I don't know the name but its yogurty, gooey goodness. This is not a place you'd take a first date but its a wonderful change for you and your guy looking for cool little spots with a different taste. I will be a regular!!

My friend Ravi and I decided to try a middle-eastern themed restaurant for lunch. Papouli's was our first stop. The place was empty at first but got very busy at 12:30. many business men working in the building next to the restaurant. The place is small. Decoration is nice. There's a huge map of the meditteranean countries when we enter, it adds a nice traditional environment to the restaurant. The food was okay. Not the best I've had, but it wasn't bad either. 3 stars is what it deserves. We ordered the vegetarian combo. It came with Bean salad, 2 falafels, a pita bread and hummus. The falafels were not authentic. They tasted bland, and frozen. But they were good enough to eat. The hummus was good, but nothing fancy. The bean salad wasn't too great. It smelled bad. Service is good, but people there are young and you could tell they don't care about Greek food or meditteranean anything, they just want to get the work done so they could go home. That's how it seemed to me. If you're in the area, try Jerusalem bakery.

This is a pretty cozy place. I had the beef and lamb gyro (one of more popular itmes). It was delicious. There was plenty of meat with plentiful veggies all wrapped up. I had the Kataifi for dessert, and it was a unique dessert. The texture tasted like dry noodles. It wasn't at all bad, but it was most definitely unique. The inside was filled with some type of nut with VERY concentrated honey. Let's just say I wouldn't recommend this dessert. lol. It's not bad, but not that great. -- When you walk in the main entrance, take a look at the dessert case. Your mouth starts to water. I would definitely try this place again. The prices are reasonable. The food was yummy with lots of entrees and side choices to choose from. :)

  • Neriyah J.

The food is good, and it can get pretty busy during lunch time so seats inside may be hard to find. But I enjoyed my gyro and my baklava as well as my salad. I will be back

  • Errol G.

It was pretty good- I like falafel's, and it's hard to find one that's not dry and has good flavor. This one was *good*- not the best I've had, but certainly not the worst, either. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 7.5. Their hummus was good, but it would be nice if they added an olive or two on top. I did like the atmosphere- a little better than your typical Greek restaurant, and it was nice not to see all the white-washed walls and murals of the Parthenon for a change. Who knows, maybe when My Big Fat Greek Wedding came out, it made Greeks stop and question their interior design capabilities. If it did, I'm forever in that movies debt. Overall, if you're looking for a good Greek place and you're on Windward Parkway, it's definitely worth a stop.

Ordered the Gyros plate for dinner - mistake. I saw the "cook" take preshaved gyros meat out of a warmer, instead of off the spit(?) Is this normal? Maybe because I got it "to go"? The meat was super dry and obviously old - what a disappointment. The Tzatziki sauce was soupy and sour - yuk.

  • J S.

Okay this review really needs two parts. Part 1 food. The super gyro was outstanding the lamb was perfectly cooked and had great flavor. I ordered the small Greek salad and small is definitely the size, it's served in a dessert plastic dish nice texture and taste putt extremely small for the price. Part 2 how the food is served. If I'm going to pay the price that they want for food I want to be served on a plate with utensils and glassware. I don't care how good the food is I'm not going to eat out of plastic so overall I won't be back but if you're looking for a quick to go for a gyro its a can't miss.

I love this place and wish they had a metro Atlanta location. I've even stopped at their Macon location on my way to Florida. I love the gyro platter, with fries and feta dipping sauce. Chris the owner is really nice and cool. In my opinion this is the best greek/mediterranean in Atlanta, I only wish I could eat it more often cause I honestly would go here every week if I could. I would also like to try more items but mostly stick to my stand-by order because I only get to eat here infrequently.

Just might be the best quick serve Greek place in GA! The hummus, chix kabobs, salad and gyros I have tried and all are winners for me. Hey don't take my word for it go try it! If you don't like it email me at idontlikeit@foodporn.com I'll give you your money back. *refunds take 50-100 years for processing.

Wifey and I have been trying to find a really good Greek place in the Alpharetta / Roswell area. We have now found one that fits both our palates! Our problem is that I love Gyro's and she loves Souvlaki. We had not found a place that had good versions of both. Papoulis takes care of it! I loved the Gyro platter, particularly the cucumber/onion mixture that came with truly good Lamb/Beef Gyro meat, decent curly fries and some soft pita...with a size of tasty tzatsiki sauce. Wifey really liked the chicken souvlaki that she had with a small Greek salad, great rice and, of course, a side of tzatsiki... We will be back many times!

I love greek salad, so when I saw Yia Yia's Favorite Greek Salad which included gyro meat in it too...I was sold. And when it came out, I was NOT disappointed. This is a dish that I will want to come back to again and again. Co-workers got the gyro sandwich. It doesn't come with any sides at the price of $5.99, but it was very decent sized. They have the gyro plate which does come with a side, but I don't know what that cost is. It's got indoor and outdoor seating, as well with a deli counter with greek desserts, which I'll have to try on my next visit.

In a word: YUM. We were really satisfied with this place. You order food at the counter and wait for it to be brought to your table. Lots of nice big booths, big open area. We started with some hummus and pita bread and we had enough left for leftovers. The pita bread was warm and soft, and the hummus was very good. I had the falafel wrap and it was hands down the best I've ever had: fresh, tasty, hot. My husband had the Moussaka (layers of eggplant, potato and ground beef topped with creamy béchamel sauce) and he was very pleased with it. My food didn't see the light of day for very long. We grabbed some desserts and that, too, satisfied our tummy goblins. We will definitely be back.

The guy behind the counter is adorable. Fast friendly greeting. BUT waited foreverrrrrrr for the food. Any busy professional knows this is no bueno. Would never come back for lunch, not worth risking missing a meeting. Up your staff to accommodate what is surely your busiest and high profit time of day. Also give people numbers to bring them there food! One guy running around calling out names, he's nice but he looks frazzled!

    (2)
  • Anuj S.

I will start off by saying that the hummus was excellent. I haven't had falafels in a long time, so I enjoyed my falafel sandwich at Papoulis. The hot sauce was spice, but not the best I've ever seen. The tahini was also very different from what I've seen at other places - like it was very thick and had a lot of seasonings in it. Overall I enjoyed it. Takeout was easy. The guy behind the counter was nice, even though we arrived there like 10 minutes before close after a long day at work. Fortunately, it was right across the hotel where I'm staying so I'd definitely be back if I got the chance.

Super Gyro good but needs lettuce & tomato plenty of meat. Dolamades my 9 yo said they were ok. (She's a bit of a snob when it comes to them since her Grandad is Lebanese) She liked her pita pizza though.

Food was good. There is no wait staff so you order your food from the counter then they bring it out to you. When you're done, you clean up your table. While we enjoyed dinner, it wasn't very romantic (even though it could have been if they just added a wait-person). We also stopped by the counter after our meal to get some desert pastries for home. They were also excellent. While we enjoyed ourselves, it probably would be a better lunch place than dinner destination, if you're looking for somewhere to take your sweetie-pie.

Awesome. My wife and I love this place. The Lamb Souvlaki is unbelievable! Everytime we travel back to Alpharetta Ga to visit family we try to go here for lunch. Wish we had quality greek food like this in Greenville SC.

One of the top worse service experiences I've ever had in my life. Paid for beef and lamb ...no beef, no sauces. I waited almost 25 mins for my To go order as I watched people come in and place orders and get their food. The cashier happens to look on the food shelf and see my cold order. Never again.

This is a hidden gem in Alpharetta. Every time I come to Papoulis, the place is almost empty, which is surprising because the food is SO good. They make everything on the spot, but the wait time is never too long. I would highly recommend the Gyros or Souvlaki plate and the baklava.

Is this the best Greek restaurant in the area for a quick and tasty lunch? Yes. Do they have delicious baklava? Yes. Actually, I love their baklava-- sometimes I will come just because I want dessert. I have tried the Gyro King or whatever it is down at the other end of Windward and can say with confidence that you should come to Papoulis, especially if you work east of 400. Fair warning, the Greek burger is made from a frozen patty, which I am opposed to on principle. However, for reasons I cannot explain, it still tastes good and as a bonus is cheap. The lamb was cooked to the perfect temperature, and the tzatziki sauce does a good job of balancing out the gamey flavor of the meat. I highly recommend it! They also have a growing menu of Halal items, so if you're looking for restaurants that cater to that request, Papoulis seems like a good place. As a disclaimer, I do not know much about Halal but, I figure restaurants that respect religious food restrictions are worth mentioning. Opa, Jason

Best Mediterranean/Greek food around. Like their gyro plate!! We recently tried the new Mediterranean restaurant "just down the road" and it's nowhere near as good as Papouli! My daughter loves their soup!

I love Greek food but I felt like Papoulis Mediterranean Cafe & Market didn't rep the goodness of Greek cuisine. I had there Yia Yia Favorite Greek Salad and the description said a LARGE salad but it was tiny when I received it. They overload you on the lettuce and the beef & lamb gyro meat they gave was miniscule. I was severely disappointed. I would eat at a place like Mediterranean Bakery and Sandwich and they would give you generous portions. The gyro meat wasn't all the impressive. If I had no other greek choices in the world and this was the only one available. I guess I would eat here.

Can't go wrong with the super gyro. Yia yia greek salad was good too. Really fast and friendly service. One of my favorite lunch spots.

The falafel sandwich is really good .. I would recommend this restaurant .. If you planning to go for lunch, make sure you go early as this place gets filled up pretty soon during lunch time.

I love this place, good for lunch or dinner. We bring friends here and they have all really enjoyed it. We usually get the gyros and the meat is very flavorful and tender. The souvlaki plate (chicken) is very good and comes with rice, a Greek salad and bread. I would recommend it. I have also tried the Pastitsio which is like a mac and cheese cassarole with seasoned ground beef. This was tasty but could have been served a little warmer. My son swears by the pita pizza and loves it. Finally, for dessert the baklava is not too be missed. It has just the right balance of honey, flaky crust and nuts. The karithopita cake is good too, a bit different and not too sweet. It is very nice atmosphere, clean and has Greek music playing. We have not been disappointed since coming here. My only improvement suggestion is to provide real silverware beside plastic. Hope you give it a try.

I simply love this place for a great Greek lunch in Alpharetta. Was recommended by my Greek friends, and I cant comment enough on the freshness of the food. This location even has a nice little market as part of the store. Not so much a sit down dinner location, but definitely great as a fast good style authentic Greek fare. Prices here are very reasonable, service swift, everything made to order. It's a notable member of our rotating lunch routine.

Went here for lunch with the guys and was glad we got there early. The place fills up very quickly during lunch time. You order from the counter and they bring you your food. I had the Steak & Lamb Super Gyro and it was delicious. I got it with curly fries at my friend's suggestion and they were good too. Next time I will be a little more adventurous, but the other guys seemed to like all their menu items as well. Food was quick and the service was nice. The place is kind of small and probably caters more toward a lunch crowd than your typical sit down dinner guest. Prices were average for the area and the portions were good sized. Like I said, I'll be back and next time I'll be more adventurous with my selections.

Just stopped here on the way home from a conference in Atlanta. My husband and I had the lamb gyros with feta. Yum, yum, yum! Generous helping of meat. Super soft, fresh, and yummy pita bread. Perfect Tzatziki sauce. Great service - super fast and friendly. Greek salad looked fantastic - I will try it the next time we visit Atlanta. Oh, and try the almond crescent cookies - To Die For!!!

I had a late lunch at this location today, I found it mostly empty (appx 4pm). I had the Gyro plate (reg size) and it was plenty of food. It was basically an open faced gyro, with all your normal fillings and curly fries on top. I found all the veggies very fresh and the meat tender. Over all this was a good experience and I will be visiting again to meet my Greek food cravings! I also noticed a case with a variety of desserts that I did not have room for this time.

I've been to Papoulis on 4 or 5 occasions now and it always leaves something to desire. The Yia Yia salad has very good dressing, but the salad is somewhat small and the container crowded which makes it difficult to eat at first. I'd rather pay a cple extra dollars and get a salad worthy of the Greek label. Giorgio's salad in Cumming puts it to shame. Today I had the lamb soulvaki. The dish comes in the same container the salad does. Lamb (2 small kabobs), rice pilaf, and a side greek salad. It was a decent 10 dollar dish, only it costs 14.95. Lamb was a little chewy, but had good flavor. Maybe their Gyro's are really good, I haven't tried them, but after the last dish...I won't be trying them either. Last visit.

I'm very surprised to see the high ratings. Pretty much everything I've tried is the Greek equivalent to Taco Bell style Mexican. The environment is homey and clean. There's a cute little market with Greek items you would have a hard time finding anywhere else. The portions are reasonable for the price. But, I'll still be on the hunt for a better Greek place in the area, even if it costs me a bit more.

I ordered the gyro plate. The gyro meat was dry and hard, almost as if it had been microwaved. The tsaziki sauce lacked any real flavor and was a bit sour and off putting. I subbed a side salad for fries (at an additional .99) it was in the tiniest little bowl - like a condiment cup. The lettuce tipped over the sides when I tried to eat it. The salad dressing was overly vinegary making it very unpleasant as well. The over-all portion of this meal was skimpy for $9.99. Yuck. Better gyros and greek style food abound in this city.

Went here at lunch time on a Tuesday. I ordered the large gyro plate (fattie) with french fries and a water to drink. Living in the south, I have always dipped my fries in ranch instead of ketchup; however, this could not be done here as they do not have any ranch dressing! My head was spinning like something out of the exorcist movie. How can you be a restaurant in the burbs of Atlanta and not stock Ranch?! I sat down at the table and the food came out of the kitchen in a hurry. The Gyro was pretty good, but a little dry. The fries we just 'meh'. A co-worker insisted on going here, but for my money I will go to a different gyro spot on the other side of 400.

As I sit down to type this review I can barely move I am so full. I ate and ate and ate, and didn't stop until it was all gone. I ate my food and my friend's food. *grin* Located in your run of the mill shopping center it is easy to pass this one by without knowing what you're missing. The restaurant is mostly typical of a newish strip mall, but I love the deli feeling you get when you first walk in. Staff was mostly younger, high school students, and while they weren't winning us over with their stellar personalities, they were efficient and got everything right. The food is to die for. You can die from overeating, right? I had a bite of the lamb/beef gyro and it was amazing. The meat was tender and the sauce was creamy and fresh. It was packed full of meat and lettuce. I had the pastitsio, my all time favorite Greek dish. It was the perfect combination of meat, pasta and béchamel sauce. The pastitsio was served with a Greek salad, which came with a yummy dressing. We also had to end the evening with baklava, another all time favorite of mine. It was gooey and packed full of nuts and honey. Pricing was very reasonable, our two dishes were $6 or $7 each, not too bad for all that you get.

Med a la delivery! Life is good when you are traveling...sometimes.... Hummus was decent, yia yia salad was ok as well, but it was the olive oil-based dressing that rocked the most! Also, threw in the spic cake for a change...I recommend as well!

I wish I had come on a five star day! I dropped in for a late lunch (twoish) for my first visit. It is a cute and clean establishment and service was cheerful and fast. The bakery display, although small, looked tempting. On to the food: I was a take out customer or I would have gone back for a swap. I ordered the Gyro Salad which turned out to be a slightly different thing. The salad was about a quarter of a cup of shredded lettuce, cucumber and onion and a slice of tomato huddled in one corner of the container, two quarters of a small pita (soggy), a very small amount of paper thin dried leather gyro meat and a container of tzatziki. The tzatziki was plentiful but under seasoned and could not soften the meat to a usable consistancy. The concoction was topped with some plain curly fries that were under done and not even salted. Taken altogether, not an edible lunch. I will not try here again.

  • James R.

Basically a "mall gyro", with about 3 strips of dried out meat. They also charge $.89 for a side of tzatziki sauce. The sauce had a weird lemon taste and extremely watered down. Not a sight of a spice or cucumber in it either. Go to Gryo King for a real gyro and compare - about 2 miles the opposite way on Windward and $2 less! Never again - even if it was free.

As a Chicagoan with no shortage of Greek places to eat at I went into Papoulis thinking it would be nowhere near as tasty as it turned out to be. I tried the Souvlaki and Falafel and was happy with both. I have tip my hat to the use of Styrofoam cups which keeps your drink cold and the condensation of out the cup holders in my car.

The food was DELICIOUS! My husband said it's the best food he's had since we left Los Angeles 2-1/2 years ago. The beef-and-lamb gyro was the best, the spinach pie with feta cheese was the best, and the baklava was the best we've ever had, even better than our favorite Greek and Mediterranean restaurants in LA. It's a nice little café in a strip of restaurants, not fancy, which may be why the prices are very reasonable. We ate there twice in two days and are going there for my birthday. You won't be disappointed.

Yum! Yum! Yum! This is only the third place where I have eaten greek food, but it is also the only one I have loved, even liked. The clean, homey environment is relaxing and casual. I love the fries with feta dip. It is so large, we have to share it. I order the Eggplant Sandwich. Just thinking of the salty charred eggplant topped with refreshing cucumber and tzatziki gets me excited. My boyfriend is a huge fan of falafel and this is his favorite place to get it. He particularly likes the lemon tahini sauce they use. The portions are great and the prices very reasonable. I love to look at all the desserts, salads and dips sitting in the deli display cases and the mediterranean products they sell from the shelves in the corner.

I've been 4 times, had chicken and lamb, both are delectable! The counter service is quick and lively, they bring the food to your table, calling out your name to find where you sat. They probably could do things with more traditional table service, but I really like how it's loud and unique, part do-it-yourself yet personable. Decor is okay, but who cares, you just want to look at the deli and dessert cases!!! Love the baba ganoush and hummus, pita is always soft & warm. Next time I'm splurging on some baklava.

  • Katie S.

I love their food & the wide range of options on their menu. They also have an excellent Greek burger which is only $2.95!! What a bargain! They also have some really yummy desserts. The only bad thing I have to say that sometimes we get the to-go for lunch & I always request no onions & end up with onions about half the time. Their kitchen staff seems to be a little disorganized. It hasn't stopped me from going back though!

Very very good food at very reasonable prices. This is no fancy pants restaurant with table service but I've not had better Greek food at a full service restaurant. Kind of a very healthy fast food option. The tabouli was excellent, tops. Got the gyro platter, the lamb and beef well seasoned and tender while at most other places even expensive ones the lamb is bland. The dessert almond macaroon thing was delicious, we'll try the baklava next time. Might not be the place for a special date but if you want a quick Greek or Mediterranean fix this place satisfies.

One day I was really craving Greek food and my mom mentioned that we should try this place, so sure enough we did. Oh my gosh, best falafel I have ever had. I think they fry it fresh when you order because it was really moist and warm and full of flavor. They have a great hot sauce that goes with it too. My mom got a gyro and it was really awesome too, they give you lots of meat! Tried the baklava, best I have had in a long time...not too sweet, right. When I am in downtown Atlanta, I really like going here for Greek

I really like the gyros here. Portions are large and prices are reasonable. The layout is a little strange to me. It would seem like if you are eating in, then you would just sit down and wait for someone to take your order. However, that is not the case. Instead, you order at the counter, prepay for your meal, and then wait for someone to bring your food to the table. Anyway, I just typically get my order to go, since they are quick and my house is less than a mile away.

This place is great. Give it a shot, you might be surprised. Take some baklava home to your special someone to score some major browny points.

We ordered four items total for take-out, one of which they were out of, and another they gave us the wrong thing. This poor experience will keep us from returning.

Went here with my wife for lunch. We were just looking for something different. We both ordered the Lamb Super Gyro. It was delicious! The portion was great, the amount of lamb was great, and the sauce was great. This was the 2nd best gyro I have ever had. The best is 900+ miles away in Flushing, Queens, NY. Best outside of NY

I come hear about once a month for my gyro fix. Not cheep at about $10 for a gyro, small fries and small drink, but I just love it. Contrary to some other reviews my gyro is always packed with meat and it's very filling. The lettuce and tomato is always fresh.

  • Art M.

First time here was a Valentine's Day lunch (I'm cheap and hate crowds) The staff was very helpful in choosing our meals, and actually brought out the owner to discuss his Chicago roots and how they make their roast beef. My wife had a Gyro...very good, though a little light on the sauce, so she will ask for more next time. I had the Chicago style roast beef......I love Bobby G's...but sorry Bobby, Papoulis has you beat on the roast beef. They roast it themselves and it was really tasty. We will come back for sure. Nothing fancy just good food.

Good gyro--had better, but this one is better than most. I like the Italian beef even more, perhaps because there is more of a void for such than there is for gyros.

  • Joanna S.

I've been to Papoulis 3 or 4 times. I'm Greek, so am slightly more critical than most. Usually, I really love their food - they have a great menu. However, depending on the day, the quality of the food changes. For example, their egg lemon soup (one of my favorites) is completely different from day to day. One day it's thick and not very flavorful, the next it's the best I've had - perfect consistency and lemony. Not sure what to make of this. I'm also not crazy with the staff - the people who work there are not very friendly. But, if you want some inexpensive lunch and are a fan of Greek food, I'd recommend trying it out.

  • John F.

The restaurant has a wide selection of items. One of my Greek co-workers always insists on coming here at least once every two week (lately once a week). Check the daily lunch specials when you come in. There's usually a lot more bang for the buck with the specials. If you're in a rush during your lunch break and need some thing quick and good this is the place.

Probably the only Greek restaurant I know of in Alpharetta. This joint opened a few months ago in the double-decker strip mall near Mellow Mushroom. I don't know Greek food all that well, but they seem authentic. The restaurant is a little cramped but they move customers in and out pretty well. The menu offers a good variety, even for picky eaters like me (I don't care for olives, feta cheese or yogurt). You'll also find a nice selection of pastries.

The food is great. Finally a Greek place in Alpharetta! I do wish they had pork as an option for the souvlaki but the chicken was great. I love all the old photos on the walls too, it makes it very homey. They have a great menu that I intend to work my way through. Love this place!
