This place seems like it has a total management vacuum. 1) The greeter had no clue what was going on. She seemed like she had escaped from a mental home and was on drugs. She was so slow. At one point a waitress got frustrated and started seating people herself because she couldn't be bothered to wait for the hostess. 2) Our waiter was also so slow. We ordered queso. We asked for some chips with the queso. Took him 15 minutes after the queso to bring the chips. 3) My mum told them she is vegetarian and wanted a vegetarian cheese enchilada. It arrived with beef chili on it. 4) The food is also pretty second rate but I was expecting that.

This place is pretty okay. The prices are a bit much with some of the items and its portion size, but not so bad overall. I remember getting really full with the chips and dip they provide. The food was pretty good, nothing too wowing or superb. The service was average if you combine the three visits together. I remember the first time visiting this place... It was an overall positive experience with really friendly service, but there was some confusion about something my coworker and I ordered (a unlimited plate of something). The manager had to come over to try to explain it, but it wasn't that much of a big deal or fuss. I can't remember my experience here the second time, but I think it was fairly average. I remember I really enjoyed my meal, but I can't recall what exactly it was. lol. As for the third time here, I can clearly remember one gal with a very unfriendly look on her face. Granted I wasn't here the whole time to observe her. I only caught a glimpse of whatever made her unhappy--which the look stayed with her throughout the evening. I guess it could be the noise level since most of my coworkers gathered here to send one of our own away. Still, as an employee of the food industry, one should know that not all groups are going to be the same (quiet, clean, quick to order, etc.)

Awful. Red hot plate. Luke warm black beans, luke warm burrito, rice like pieces of rubber. I'm staying in the hotel next door for 2 weeks they lost a chance for a regular customer.

In all honesty the only reason I or we come here is that it is close to work and "Happy hour specials". The food is hit or miss at times, the service is so inconsistent it varies from one person to the next and food can take forever (at times) to leave the kitchen. Recent scenario- Family was passing through and the only way to catch me was on their way out we were to meet here before the evening shift. Let me start by saying our sister, her husband and niece were in town from Michigan via Florida and are Super Laid Back and Casual. When Traci asks the server that we had to Flag down "Why the soup that she and her husband had were not the same" (missing avocado and tortilla strips). My head was put into hands not only could it be explained he did nothing to correct it. I was so embarrassed I could only shake my head and apologize to everyone. We had just a bit over an hour to socialize and food took FOREVER to come out. Immediately guacamole and cheese dip were ordered to get us started and let our server (he) know "time was a serious issue". Orders were placed simple combos nothing special outside of cilantro for me. 42 minutes later was asking where our food was and that I had to leave. When the food did arrive I did not get to eat my meal for the day it had to be thrown in a box with apologies to Traci, James and my niece Ms. H..The food to go was not able to eaten there for thrown out this equals money wasted. **Two visits ago and I am not joking it took 10 minutes to get a draft beer I had to actually get up go to the bar and ask for it again.

Horrible service. What kind of a Mexican restaurant runs out of rice...? Substituted with French fries but served us literally ten fries each. In addition the food took over fourty mins to arrive. Furthermore one of the orders was completely wrong and took over 15 mins to bring the right order. Did not even try to reconcile with anything on the house. No courtesy, horrible service and lackluster food.

They used to be decent for a chain but the railing on the patio was falling apart (metal poles falling out), fajitas no longer have the same sauce options nor veggie options (just peppers and onions) and despite advertising fresh tortillas, I was served store bought.

Drove 45 min to Pappadeaux expected to wait on Mother's Day but wifey couldn't endure the 2 hour wait (headache) so trusty yelp led us here. I'm from Texas and KNOW Mexican food and having not been here in several years we were both anticipating the pleasant experience we were used to at OTB! However that didn't happen. There was no wait at the bar and at the time we arrived there was only 1 other person sitting. Being that this is one of busiest days in the restaurant industry u would expect proper staffing bout there was only 1 bartender and he was completely overwhelmed! He seemed like the manager type as he appeared to know what he was doing but definitely lacked execution. It took too long to place an order cuz he was fixing drinks probably for the entire building then the food ordered appetizers which came out with the meal not before and was not given condiments or utensils. Entree was hot sides were cold had to ask for plates and was give side plates before I had basically raise my voice and say GRANDE. I wish I would have read these reviews cuz I can definitely identify with the accuracy. My wife was surprisingly patient which kept me from becoming irate but I was still EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED that I was not able to provide her with a decent Mother's Day dining experience. Normally I'm not one to really complain but when the service is horrible I can't help but respond accordingly. I don't know if OTB has new owners or whatever but this location is not representing the brand well at all. I wouldn't even go back for a free meal...sorry it just sucked!

The place wasn't too crowded when we got there. So, we didn't have to wait for a table. The menus were dirty/nasty/grungy. Almost didn't want to touch them, it was gross. Do they not wipe them off? Food was fine, but it took forever for us to get it. Meanwhile, others that came in after us were getting their food sooner. Took forever to get the check too. The waiter was nice enough, but the service really wasn't all that good. Not sure if he was spread too thin or what. I used to like this place, but I don't think I'll be back.

First we sat for 15 minutes with no one acknowledging us. Then the "chip person" delivered chips and salsa and apologized for the wait. Another 10 minutes of sitting, my husband got one of the server's attention that no one had been to our table. That server came back and took our entire order (drinks, appetizer and entrees). 15 minutes go by and no drinks or even a glimpse of the waiter in our area. We have never left a restaurant before but tonight we did.

If you've read any of my other reviews you know that I detest being cold. Oh, dear Lord, does OTB know how to lose my business. I asked, then I pleaded for the air conditioner to be cut off. This was on one of our recent 20 degree days. I was fully dressed with a coat, my BF's coat and my car blanket (I keep a blanket in the car at all times) and it was still unbearable. I was starving though and hope springs eternal so I just knew at some point it would warm up in there. Every other diner within earshot was complaining. I was repeatedly told "I'll see what I can do". The food may have started out great but there was a fan blasting cold air down on me so it was cold within a minute of receiving. I shoved cold food in my mouth as quickly as possible and got the hell out of there. My BF likes this place so I can't even say I won't be back but I will fight to go elsewhere. This is the reason we stopped going to Azul Agave. Please make it comfortable for your paying guests!!

I puked a little in my mouth. Enough said? I suggest avoiding, I don't look forward to tomorrow. Everything is pre-made heated dog food.

finally, we had a great waiter! last 2 times was bad and the sat me at the chips station way at the back, after looking that dirty stations, I lost my appetite. Otherwise their food is good and the service can be a bit iffy. We always order the ultimate fajitas.

As I sit here waiting for my meal...I wonder if I can just leave. When we entered, there was no host and we waited several minutes before a lady came and picked up a dirty rag from a table before asking us "how many." With dirty rag in hand, she sat us at a table and immediately asked what we wanted to drink...without even touching a menu yet. About 7 minutes later, someone came and basically dumped chips and salsa at our table. About 10 minutes after that, a waiter noticed we hadn't had anyone come by our table. After he took our order, I guess he forgot and a few minutes later asked us for our orders again?! And also..the queso is supposed to have tomatoes and onions...and it doesn't! Wish me luck with the main course!

Just basic mexican food. The queso is good and the chips are very large. Nothing special about the place but it is your staple mexican food restaurant. The black beans are good. The rice kinda hard/under cooked

I am so glad this place is still around! Over the years, my biggest beef with this location has been the inconsistency with the service. There is now a cure! GoWaiter and OTB have teamed up so you do not have to worry about the service! For New Years, I ordered a brisket taco party platter and it came quickly. I was kind of suprised (At the same time, I shoudl have known better) that they were build your own. The quality was awesome- as they are my favorite brisket tacos I have ever had! The flour is amazing, the brisket juicy, and the sauce and cheese complement them to another level! Even when I dine in, they are amazing. If you have been disappointed with the service in the past, i suggest you get the delivery! If not, this place is still a cool place to check out- the beer is cold and cheap and the salsa has a nice kick to it! This place can get real busy real quick!

I usually like On the Border and especially the some of there appetizers, however today was so disappointing. The waiter seemed like her didn't care, messed up our order, had to ask for refills on drinks, chips and salsa. My husband and I are usually pleased with this place but today was terrible.

Wish I could give it more because the food wasn't half bad! But how dirty it was- I can't even...the women's bathroom should be ripped out! The tables were sticky, the menus grimey, the floor was dirty- and we came in at 1130am! I hope they really change that.

This was one of the best Mexican restaurants I have eaten at. The food was moderately priced for a lunch menu, and the portion of food was surprising! Try the Grill ed Chicken Salsa Fresco....amazing.

I have been a fan of On the Border for many years, but the food quality has definitely on the decline. I had a taco salad on my last visit, which is my favorite lunch item, when it came out, it was smaller in size than previous ones, it no longer had the scoop of sour cream, and the crust was stale. It is sad to see a good chain in a downward spiral. I am torn between never coming back and maybe giving them one more chance.

I love their Mexican grilled chicken with spicy salsa, it is absolutely delicious! I would rate the spicy about 6 out of 10. Spicy enough to have some kick, not enough to where you stop eating it! Flour tortillas of course are out of this world!

Can I give it a zero? I have been here twice in the last few months and the food has been absolutely horrible. The second time I went there were 3 tables with people, when we walked in we were told by a server "I will be with you in a minute". 5 minutes later we were still standing at the door with no one to seat us in sight. Finally a few servers managed to argue over who should seat us and someone came to show us to a table. After we were seated it took another 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge we were there. We sat on the deck, there was ONE other table with people. Their server walked by us numerous times without even acknowledging our presence. Even after we got served, there was plastic in our nacho cheese sauce, which was barely warm, and the chips were worse than a bag of Tostitos. The food (both times) was absolutely horrible and either over-salted or tasteless. I will never go back to this location and I hope they close!

This place exists in the Bermuda triangle of Roswell / Alpharetta... the section of Mansell West of 400. This location has been around as far as I can remember. Was here last back in 2004 even so far as the mid 90s (yes, that long ago) but dont remember it being anything special. Writing this review because I had such a good experience with the location in Concord, NC that I actually wanted to eat at On the Border again. This location suffers from a lack of patronage and the location... because Alpharetta really built out North towards the mall, Windward, and Cumming. Back in the 90s, this was as far North as restaurants went... that has all changed. That said, my food was as good as it was at the NC location. Had the ultimate loaded queso and could really have made a meal out of that. Not your typical white cheese boring, this conglomerate of cheese, refried beans, guac, beef, sour cream, and deliciousness was very tasty. For the entree, opted for the enchilada trio and was in heaven with the barbacoa, green-chili chicken, and sour cream version. Also sampled some of the tamales and while non-traditional, had a great flavor and the pork was very tender. Got the same thing I did in Carolina and it was just as good. Not the best Mexican I've ever had, but I'm willing to put it back in the rotation every now and then and give the other couple hundred Mexican places in Roswell / Alpharetta a respite. If you're like me... try them again, you might be surprised.

I've been going to On The Border for several years now and I'm sad to say the food quality is steadily diminishing. I used to make different selections on each visit, but when I'd try each one again, I'd be disappointed. I eliminated the (formerly delicious but not any more) fish tacos, brisket tacos, etc. Finally I narrowed it down and only went there for their taco salad. True, the flour taco was a little more stale every time, but today I left the restaurant thinking, "What on earth has happened?" Never mind the taco bowl, which was very stale, tough, and completely inedible, but the rest of the salad was as follows: Large chunks of lettuce instead of shredded, which didn't even fill the bowl but made the salad appear larger than it was. (And required cutting to eat it.) Missing were other vegetables including corn, black beans, and olives. There was a decorative strip of thin watered-down sour cream on top instead of the usual scoop. The guacamole was still included, but the chicken and beef was miniscule which was okay because it was tasteless. The salad is about one-third smaller and is not the taco salad of days gone by. In all fairness, I will say that the service was fine. No problem there, but then the restaurant was not very busy. I know I won't be going back anytime soon.

Haven't been here in a long time but after lunch today, it'll be a long time again before I go into another On The Border. First, it took almost an hour to get what we ordered. Then, the taco salad I ordered had about 1/2 cup of old wet iceberg lettuce and the whole thing was about the size of a small soup bowl. For $7.95!!! It's by far the worst and smallest pre-made salad I think I've ever ordered. Nearly an hour to wait for the worst salad ever. No thanks OTB....

Today was not a good day for eating at On The Border. The food was room temperature and so were the chips. It wasn't like that during my last visit. Hopefully this was just an off day. Being a Wednesday circa 1PM, I expected better...especially when the place was 30% full.

Yes, this is a 'corporate run food business', but "corporations are people too, my friend' (LoL!!!) It's been over two years since I have been in an On The Border and things are basically the same ... and thats fine. My recent lunch experience on a later Saturday afternoon saw the restaurant relatively busy but we still got good service seated in the bar area (with a number of other patrons) The food was just fine... me and my LunchBud both had dishes featuring beef and cant complain about the food what so ever. There are lots of independently owned and run American-ized Mexican food joints all over the area but they are not doing anything that much better than On The Border (except maybe Zapata but I never remember about them anymore).

We gather sometimes after work. The bartender is attentive and friendly, the chips and salsa are quite tasty too. a few Patron shots and a margarita later I'm gone but I will return!

I guess my taste has evolved over the years because I used to LOVE On The Border. Growing up it was one of the "hot spots" for my high school crew. I hadn't been since college and although the yellow cheese dip is still solid, everything else is pretty below par. They have a lovely patio that we were able to enjoy the weather on, which I very much appreciated. There are a few TVs scattered about the patio for your sports viewing pleasure. Service was quite slow; not sure if they just didn't have enough servers assigned to the patio, as the interior was completely empty, and our server seemed a bit frazzled. You get complimentary chips and salsa, and I do enjoy their salsa. I really could just take home a jar of it. It's on the spicy side which I appreciate. I tried the shrimp fajitas and it was overcooked and a bit under seasoned. It was fine and edible, just nothing that I would write home about. It comes with rice and beans, neither of which I had more than one bite of. My friend ordered a combo plate to taste a variety of items - taco, enchilada, tamale, etc, and didn't seem super excited about any of them. I didn't have an alcoholic beverage, but from what I recall, they are fairly sugary but average. I'd say, go if you want the yellow cheese dip as an app, or pick it up to go. My favorite is it with tortillas instead of chips! Also yummy if you mix the salsa in with the cheese dip. But otherwise I wouldn't go for a meal here.

Went for lunch today and the service was not great at all, nor was the food. Found hair right on top of my chz enchiladas that was not in the sour cream sauce that I asked for. Then my bosses food was wrong as well because he wanted his black beans on side. Dish came out and his enchiladas was soaking in black beans. Kinda a slap in the face since I talked him into going there. We didn't have time to have the dishes remade due to the type of work we are in. I continued eating the food with the hair in it. They did take 8 dollars off the bill which the meal probably should have been taken care of since they messed it all up. Did taste alright. Did come out in a the right amount of time and it seemed that the team work was in order as well. I try to be honest with yelp reviews since I was formerly a foh mgn but this customer is not happy with the service. Probably give you guys another try on another day.

I'm really not impressed with this place despite their success. I kept seeing these restaurants around Atlanta and was finally willing to try one out. I don't know if it's just this location, but their fajitas were pretty bland. Their portions are also really small or maybe I'm just greedy. Doubt it though because every time I've ever ordered fajitas (which is pretty common) I get something that is too much for even two people to share. The dinner portion here will barely make 4, and that's also stuffing it with all the extras. They also nickel and dime you on things you'd pretty much consider included in the order. Oh, and they clearly don't care about special requests either. My dining buddy ordered the onions to be thoroughly cooked (actually specified the dark carmel color), and they weren't as you can see. Plus, I asked for a frozen skinny margarita which couldn't be done because apparently they don't own a blender or are not willing to blend it. I'm sorry, but every bar should have a blender, so what's the problem? Not being a jerk. It's an honest question for a not so special request. Just saying.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
