Best place in the world. I would consider this place a gastro-brew-pub. Surprisingly great food. Order the collard greens and cheese curds. Brewed beers are best in flights so you can sample them. Friendly and helpful staff.

Bacon in a jar with a side of peanut butter. That is something REAL on this menu!! Yes!! REAL LIFE! Popped in on a Wednesday evening about 730. The tables were pretty empty but the bar was full! I squeezed in amongst my compadres, and bartender Jay introduced himself almost immediately. I said I'm hungry! But I also would like a beer. I started to scan the menu and saw the section listing beers made right here in this establishment. I said I must have one of these, and I think it'll be the Simple Jack-o-lantern. I enjoy a good flavored beer, and pumpkin is on my list. Then, after learning my buds ordered the fried pickles and the hummus, I added the housemade pork rinds and, of course, bacon in a jar with a side of PB. Now before you go sayin' what's so special about bacon in a jar with a side of PB (WHAT is wrong with you?!) well you just better know it's exactly what it sounds like AND in an authentic Ball jar, no less! This app was about $4 and we got a good 7 strips of pretty yummy bacon. It was not super crispy but also not mushy. Mushy bacon is the worst. The pork rinds were tasty as well and really compliment a beer. They were a little harder to bite and quite messy but thankfully you're in a bar, so no one cares about the crumbs on your lap. The fried pickles were very tasty even though they looked like they could have been cooked a little longer. Again, crispy = good, mushy = not so good in some cases. But these are pickles so it's okay for the inside to be a bit mushy, and regardless of any of that they were really good. The hummus is greenish! Not sure what exactly is in it, but I like it. Fresh. Cucumbers, carrots, celery and soft tortillas for dipping. Try it with a little pepper too for the heck of it! All in all not a bad first experience! Not bad at all! I will totally be back here to try those lamb things on the appetizer list, and the 50/50 bacon angus... Gosh, maybe I'll split that with someone. That and the sausage platter and pork stuff and duck confit.... Be still, my palpitating heart... Hi5 Hop Alley!!

Great atmosphere and wonderful beer. My husband and I ordered the Pretzels with beer cheese... OMG amazing!! Friendly bartender and friendly staff conveniently located in the square.

[TL;DR] great, local brewery and restaurant. i mean, pork rinds on the appetizer menu... take a flight at the bar to get a showcase of their brew talent. you'll get four samples for $6. all of them were good. take it back to a table instead, if you prefer. this is a fantastic spot to stop in after work on a friday. indoor and outdoor seating are abundant and fairly comfortable. the menu displays variety without having a food option from every corner of the planet so you'll neither feel overwhelmed or that there is nothing you can eat. this is one of my favorite places in alpharetta. this place will go right up to five stars when they start getting in a selection of cask beer. ;o)

Went in with low expectations, "Bar Food". Everyone at our table ordered something different and we all shared. We all left amazed how good EVERYTHING was. The shrimp and grits w/ jambalaya made my eyes water, it was so rich and good. The duck sandwich was very tender and tasty. I will recommend this place to anyone.

This place is one of our favorite places to go in Alpharetta. Brandon, the owner and brewer, is a great guy and his beer is fantastic. Always something new and creative on tap. He has a lot of rotating taps and hard to find bottled beer from Belgium and Germany. The food is really good, a lot of upscale pub offerings and some great entrees as well. Additionally they have some beer dinners where beers are paired with certain courses and those are also great. The service is always excellent and we never have any issues. For those who were and are complaining about it being crowded, well, there is a reason why - this place kills it because the food is great and the beer rocks! I read one negative review by some moron who was complaining about the service while trying to watch a UGA football game. Probably one of the same idiots who comes in and orders a Bud Light.....Look folks, any person with 2 eyes and half a brain in their skull can see this isnt a sports bar, if you want to watch football and carry on like a drunken buffoon, head to Taco Mac. Otherwise, I am sure if you are polite they will put your game on for you but that isnt the focus of the bar. People come here for great microbrewed beer and great food, and this place has both.

Great convivial establishment. Awesome burger the 50/50 is amazing and the onion rings rock, actually the best I've ever had!!! Super friendly staff and very glad I chose this place for dinner.

Frequent this place but usually sit outside with dogs. Tonight we enjoyed the interior. Kinda rustic and I particularly like the resin topped wood tables. Looked like my dad made them all in his workshop, so cute. The beer is ok all different brews, IPA, etc I am not a beer snob so I just order the blonde one. They are a bit stronger than the commercial brands About the food, Pork cheeks tonight. OMG they were cooked perfectly. Over a bed of pumpkin or squash ravioli, slices of brussel sprout, small carrots and this perfectly light gravey. So yummy! Perfect cold winter night meal. Oh and fried pickles were pretty good too. The reason no 5 stars... service kinda slow and the pickles and ravioli were just a tad under cooked.

If you happen to find this place... go ahead and count your blessings. This place is delicious. Everything about it. I absolutely loved the wild boar sausages with bacon sourkraut... I loved it so much... I ordered another one. It was fantastic. The staff is extremely friendly. The gentleman who served us was hilarious. We had great conversations. It's refreshing to find a good place like this. Extremely mellow.

Beer lovers you will love this spot, they had pages and pages of all kinds of different beers imported from everywhere all over the world. The Gouda Mac-N-Cheese was outstanding. Also the parking was very easy and convenient. Bonus guys there are TVs everywhere, you can watch all the games you want. Great time, nice chill spot! :))

Came here for dinner on a Thursday night and was pleasantly surprised. The selection of in house brews is surprisingly many and the ones that I had tasted really good. My favorite was their version of a German Weissbier and their Irish sour was a close second. The food here was pretty good following the styling of a new age american gastropub. My favorite part of the meal were the sweet potato fried, if you come here you must get them they are some of the best I've ever had. All in all a great experience and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone out there looking for some good food and good beer.

Very good experience overall. We were greeted while we were still on the sidewalk outside and immediately seated a little before six on a Saturday night. A high chair was brought out for our 11 mo. old little girl and we were given time to look over the huge drink menu and order food. All of the staff we encountered was very friendly, both upon entering and exiting the restaurant. I was especially impressed by how well the younger, male server interacted with our baby. The beer I tried was pretty good - had the Pumpkin Ale and IPA. It was nothing special though. (I will admit that I have become a little bit of a beer snob after my 6 years in the craft brew Mecca of Montana). However, the food left something to be desired. Two people from our party ordered burgers and they were both very overdone, which was a little sad since the restaurant decided to put a detailed description of how you should expect meat to be presented at different temperatures in their menu. In fairness, my wife's Reuben was pretty good. Additionally, neither restroom had a baby changing station. I know not everyone will see this as a negative, but it seems like a simple oversight. In summary, a very cool spot in the middle of downtown Alpharetta. I might try the food again, but will most definitely be back to sample some more of their beer. Great staff!

Based on the 4 star Yelp review, we decided to play here pre-Gov't Mule concert. This place would have been 4 stars for us, except for the bartender and his pissed off at the world attitude. At first, we thought "that is just his personality" and then we realized "THAT IS JUST HIS PERSONALITY" (and God bless him, or whichever unfortunate soul who has to share living quarters with him). I ordered a flight, not knowing what to order, and I got a choice of 4 of 5 beers. I asked the bartender to pick for me (AGAIN, not knowing what to pick), and he sighed and rolled his eyes. In my face. And then, he seemed irritated when we said there was a concert in town because he didn't know, and that meant they would be slammed. Uhhh, okayyy...isn't that what businesses like? On to the beers...I had 4 different and yummy beers. I tend to stick with what I know which is why I like flights. I usually find a new favorite beer when trying a flight. I really liked all 4 beers, and I liked the vibe of the place, but I had a hard time getting past the bartender's attitude. If service is your industry, it helps to be nice, engaging, helpful. Being a tourist, would I come back? Probably not. Will I look for their beers in my local liquor store? I would have, but was too afraid to annoy Mr. Personality any further by asking him to write the names of the beers down for me. Fun afternoon, because of the company I keep, but as I am fond of saying...NEXT!

Ohh the onion rings. Love the giant beer battered onion rings. They are a meal in themselves. This place is awesome for lunch and a beer, and great for dinner as well. Be careful with the appitizers, its easy to fill up on them! Such good food!

Looked for an Irish Pub on Yelp and this place came up. Not a Irish Pub but what a great find. A foodie menu for sure! Lots of German & Belgium beers which my husband loved. Portion size were huge. But the best part the best Customer Service in Alpharetta. Will definitely be going back soon!

Strolled in here on a beautiful cool Friday night. Sat on back deck and enjoyed beers and food. Very reasonably priced and great service. Make sure you ask for Adam for your server. Also dog friendly on back deck for all the pooch lovers :)

Busy in Friday night! Beer & appetizers with friends. Great service, food came fast. The only (small) negative is that the place is really small and gets really loud. Wouldn't be a good place for conversation and there were people kind of staring at you wanting you to leave so they could have your table :) We will definitely probably be back!

Great beer selection and extremely friendly staff. My favorites on the menu include the chickpea burger, the avocado chicken sandwich and the bacon pancakes for when I'm hung over Sunday morning. Parking can be challenging especially with the BBQ joint next door and the construction at city hall.

I'm really conflicted about Hop Alley. I'm a homebrewer and when I moved to Atlanta for work I was excited to find a brew pub near my office. I stopped by one day after work to try it out. I had a flight of their beers and I wasn't all that impressed. I'm a certified beer judge and have been homebrewing since 2009 so I like to think I know what I'm talking about. They all lacked body. It's not that the beers were infected or anything like that just not up to the style guidelines. The burger that I had was another story. I had the pimento cheese burger and it was great! It was cooked perfectly and the pimento cheese was great. The fries were pretty good as well.

***Update*** Stephanie & Adam are great! They both really know the menu & they know a great pairing of brew w/ food. But it goes beyond that! Try mixing up your own flavors from the cheese & cracker platter w/ different beers. It's a totally different experience that my cousin & I tried a few times! Ask for Stephanie or Adam!

This place. Go to spot for me. Great beers! Amazing food, the kinda stuff you don't see on others menus. I love sitting at the bar. Sometimes it does get super busy and you've gotta wait your turn if you do decide to sit at the bar. But who cares! The food is delicious. The duck bqq sandwich is KILLER. As is the Mac and cheese. You like beer? You like good food? Like a comfortable upscale pub setting, this is your place.

Working in the area this week. Stopped in on a Monday evening. It was pretty busy for a Monday. Great little brew pub with good selection of local brews in addition to their own. Also, a very nice selection of bottled beers. Had a Straffe Hendrik Wild Triple. Food wise I had Lamb Lollypops and Wisonsin Cheese Curds. Both were very nice. Next time I would ask them to cook the Lamb Lollypops to medium instead of medium rare. The cheese dip and fried cheese curds were delicious. The bartender Courtney was very helpful and knowledgeable about beer. You can tell from her attitude that she likes her job.

We went to hop alley again to see our friend and musician Jon Oswald play last Saturday night and had a great time and received excellent service from Stephanie (I think) it was loud and hard to hear her but the music was soooo worth it. Jon sand songs that got the whole place singing along! We ordered the fried pickles and they were great if not a bit in the large side. I got the pastrami rueben and smoked Gouda Mac and cheese and it was delicious! We enjoyed the pretzel and cheese sauce as well. I look forward to enjoying their patio when it warms up.

Outstanding craft beer and the bartenders are extremely knowledgeable. Try the Java stout. It is amazing. I have eaten here several times and the food is top notch.

Yay for more independent restaurants in downtown Alpharetta! I've been to Hop Alley about half a dozen times and haven't been disappointed. I'm allergic to gluten so I can't try all the beers they brew on site but they did have a gluten-free beer in a bottle and a somewhat decent wine selection. It could be better but it's not awful. My only issue is that since the menu rotates pretty frequently (a good thing for most people), it goes from being very gluten-friendly one time to NOT AT ALL gluten-friendly the next. I wish they would keep at least one or two dishes that are naturally gluten free. I had a short rib dish that was really good and their pork belly is excellent. Again though, it will be gluten-free one time and then not the next. I just never know. The atmosphere is nice and again, it's great to have more local restaurants in what is becoming a cute little downtown area.

We have eaten here a few times. Note to self do not order a healthy fish dinner at a place that serves great beer & what looked like a yummy plate of gigantic fried onion rings. Stick w/the greasy bar food. I was told the fish was fresh, well it was at some point, guess that's an open ended ? I asked our sweet waitress. It was definitely previously frozen, bland w/something on top, a few stalks of over cooked asparagus, as my daughter would say Meh - & the priciest entree ;-(. I ordered the Chef's special burger of the day the next visit. It was good, cooked properly but frankly they need to 'up their bun'. Something a little sturdier that doesn't get soggy & falls apart two bites in. Maybe a nice sourdough ? Anyway will be back for beer & onion rings.

I'm not a huge micro brewery aficionado but I would recommend this little pub highly just for the food. The 50/50 burger is one of the best I've ever had and the onion rings impressed me. I had their pilsner and enjoyed it thoroughly. Two made me a little tipsy so watch your intake as they have higher alcohol content than the usual fare. We sat at the bar and the service was prompt and friendly. I'll go back with my wife and try more dishes then write a more detailed review but for now they get five stars.

Well what can I say... Always looking for good local craft beer brew pubs etc. Have had my eye on this place since moving into the area last summer. So to satisfy my curiosity I start with a flight of the house brews. The Czech Pilsner, abbey ale, Belgian ale and the oatmeal stout. Several problems right out of the gate when the flight comes out. All four beers are Noticeably flat. Ok well I'm not going to complain, let's give it a shot. The stout had some flavor but thin overall, also warmer then I like. And, I do like my beers "less then cold". Abbey ale, some flavor there but flat and warm. Trend? Yes it continues. The Belgian would be good in a pint glass and a bit cooler but I wasn't about to order any more beers here. Wife for the dunker Weiss. Flat. Warm. Taste ok, but commmmeee oonnnn I finished that one for her, and she got a bottles wit (the only one on the menu) which looked good. Not flat, not warm. Cheese curds, over fried. Fried the cheese Out of them, and it was all batter that was left. Asked the waiter why the dunkel was flat and he said they carb them all differently. Huh? 5 out of 5 house brews flat and warm. We left and went to Campania down the road for some double zero Neapolitano pizza pie. It was amazing..... Check Hop Alley off the list, won't be back. Sorry!

Hop Alley Brew Pub is just the kind of place we need around here. Go for the beer and be surprised by the food, or go for the food and be surprised by the beer; either way they seem to be doing things right. I was worried when I first heard about this place that they'd just be brewing three or four crowd pleasers (a brown, a blonde, an IPA, blah, blah and blah), but that is definitely not the case. They do have a blonde and an IPA (both of which I'm sure are perfectly good beers), but their list of regular offerings also includes a hefe, a porter and (lo and behold!) a Belgian-style pale that met my relatively high expectations (and, at over 8%, caused me to pass the car keys to my immediate left.) They also have seasonal beers, and on this October evening we were more than happy to order a round of Oktoberfests, which were perfectly delicious and perfectly true to the style. And to keep me coming back, their chalk board noted two other beers currently fermenting or aging: an English barley wine (definitely need to get in on that) and, if memory serves, a dunkleweizen. And that's just what they are doing on-site in the giant stainless tanks lined up behind the bar. The rest of their sizable and obviously well-curated beer list includes a large number of Belgians (seems to be the passion here) and other top-notch drafts and bottles. The words "light" and "lite" were nowhere to be found. Oh, and they have food, too! I was told by a member of my party to mention here that the spaghetti squash was wonderful. Noted. The shrimp and grits were also enjoyed. Across from me was a pork chop that I gauged by my fellow diner's reaction as merely "good." I ordered the pork belly because I've never had pork belly. I enjoyed it, but I think the dish would have benefitted hugely by having more of the brown butter apples it came topped with. Apples are fairly cheap, so just go ahead and load 'em on there. The food is where they can still earn that fifth star from me. Everything was enjoyed, but they didn't knock my socks off. I saw several burgers floating about the room, and they looked really good, so maybe the next visit I'll take a crack at one. There will be a next visit, for sure.

Let me start out with the good because there's a lot more bad. Great atmosphere and fried pickles. That's about it. It wasn't even a full restaurant and it took 40 mins just to get a chicken salad sandwich, which was very sub par. The chicken was extremely dry and very tasteless. What really got me upset was the service. My waiter was inattentive, slow, seemed bored, and very amateur (not good for 30+ years old). I was kind of jealous of the table next to me for getting a great server. Well anyway, I'll try this place out again, and hopefully it won't disappoint. Oh, and ps: my waiter just walked by, stopped, turned around, walked back by me saying "fuck it", then took the table behind me's order

So. Good. Went a few weeks ago for dinner and drinks and sat out on the patio. Started with the fried cheese curds which might possibly be the best thing I've ever put in my mouth. Then got the cheese steak with mac and cheese. Both amazing! My friend got the burger and said it was delicious. I had the bourbon ale and it was fantastic and my friend ordered the beer flight and was impressed. Can't remember the server's name but she was great as well. All around a perfect experience, can't say enough good things about Hop Alley! I am so glad to have a place like this in alpharetta. Will be back (tonight)!

Alpharetta should feel lucky to have a great place like this. Its comfy inside, brews great beer and has awesome food. Ive come here for the World Cup(didnt feel like driving to Atlanta), had dates and also just grabbed lunch and the place is always good. The pretzels are AMAZING.

Wanted to try this new place out so we came for drinks Sunday afternoon. They brew their own beer and have a great selection. I tried their Oktoberfest type of brew and hubby tried the IPA. Both were excellent! However, the appetizer & service was lacking. We sat at the bar & it was hard to get the bartender's attention. I don't blame the bartender because she was working a busy bar alone so she was a little overwhelmed. She was very nice & friendly when she did come around. The place seems a little unorganized with no management in sight. We ordered fried cauliflower appetizer thinking it was battered fried cauliflower but instead got a bowl of unseasoned cut up fried cauliflower. Not much thought or work went into preparing this appetizer... expected more. I would return just for the beer and maybe try some other food items on the menu. It's a cool place with potential if they can get their act together.

The menu is very unique and the duck confit sandwhich is delicious but the the real reason I'm giving this place 5 stars is because I decided to be adventurous and order the quail - I wanted to try something different. The quail was exactly as described in the menu but I didn't like it. The manager Stephanie cleared our plates and noticed I hadn't eaten but one bite. Despite that it wasn't the restaurant's fault I didn't like the gamey flavor of quail, she still removed the entire entree from my ticket without me even asking. I was very thankful and won't be afraid to try more of the unique items on their menu. Thanks Stephanie! From Matt, Kevin's, & Cecily

Alpharetta really doesn't have that many "cool" places to go when inundated with franchise restaurants in the North Point area. However, Hop Alley's different from your typical Taco Mac in that they actually offer something else: craft beers, better food, and a "nicer" space to lounge or dine. Maybe I'm biased, but I think I like Hop Alley only because of the space. It's really got a laid-back atmosphere where you feel relaxed and have a chilled beer. Their craft beers aren't that bad, if you can get there before they run out of it. I really liked their Fuggliest Otter. As far as food goes, it's better than Taco Mac or TGIF's, but it still made me wanting more. The entrees were special enough that I immediately knew I wanted to get the sausage platter. I also shared some onion rings which were HUGE! Taste-wise, they were ok. This is a great place to go as it's in the heart of the Alpharetta City Hall area - I believe this was where my Crossfit gym was before they closed. I don't see myself coming out to Hop Alley to dine, but if I had friends venturing OTP to the Alpharetta area, I'd recommend going there to hang out.

2 stars for service | 3 stars for beer | 4 stars for food Alpharetta's newest brew pub has been open just a few weeks as of my visit and review, so it should probably be assumed that any dining establishment will still have kinks to work out in its first month. Hop Alley is certainly no exception--although the food shows incredible promise. We stopped in for lunch on Saturday and were greeted at the door by a completely unenthusiastic hostess. Perhaps "greeted" is the wrong choice of words here. We were given a shrug and a mumble that sounded vaguely like "table or bar?" We opted for a table for two and were seated near the front. After being seated, we waited for about ten minutes before our presence was acknowledged by anyone on staff. To kill time we played a game of "guess who your server might be?" Waiters kept walking past us but they refused to make eye contact. Were we being ignored, or was our server perhaps detained in the bathroom? Guessing games can be fun, although they are less amusing when you are hungry and haven't even been given a glass of water. Finally our server approached the table and offered to take our drink order. He was a nice guy but a bit soft spoken and reluctant. Once he finally attended to us he was fairly quick in taking our orders and bringing out our food and drink, although he didn't really check on us during our meal to make sure everything tasted okay. I ordered a flight of beer ($6), which consists of four 5-ounce pours of the house brews. That's a very reasonable price for a flight of beer totaling 20 ounces. Unfortunately the beer was mostly underwhelming. The blonde, the saison and the rye IPA lacked any kind of distinctive flavor. They weren't bad, but they weren't brews that I would order again because they were just bland and unremarkable. I was glad that I hadn't ordered a full glass of any of these. On a positive note, the ESB "Fugglest Otter" was tasty and it's something that I would order again. For those keeping track at home, that's 1-out-of-4 for the beer flight. Not a great record. After sampling the beers I wasn't sure what to expect from the food. Fortunately it exceeded expectations. The chicken salad sandwich is made with pureed avocado instead of mayonnaise which makes it light and flavorful. The Bacon, Asparagus and Tomato sandwich is Hop Alley's twist on the BLT and it's a refreshing option that is different, but still comforting and not too heavy. The bacon was thick and crispy, the bread was perfectly toasted and the garlic aoli was a nice substitute for mayo. Do they even have mayo in the restaurant? I wouldn't complain if they didn't. The sides also shone. The sweet potato fries were fresh and sweet with a coating that tasted like brown sugar. Not too much batter or fry on these. The cheese grits were remarkably creamy and they didn't come covered with a waxy coating of cheese--the cheese was well mixed and the entire bowl was perfectly seasoned. Prices seem quite reasonable for both beer and food. House beers are $3.50/$5.00 per pour. That would be a phenomenal deal if the brews were just a little better. Perhaps given time, they will be! I'd like to come back later after they've had a chance to work out some of the kinks, to try out some other beers once they've rotated in a few new ones, and to sample some of the other menu items. The 50/50 burger made with equal parts beef and bacon is particularly intriguing. For now this place rates a solid 3-stars. I can definitely see it rating higher very soon if they address the service issues with additional training and refine the beer program. Hopefully that's exactly what will happen--we need great brew pubs like this in Alpharetta!

The sandwich I had was good ( reuben) but the fries were on the verge of cold and also found a small hair on my plate - EEEW! We waited for a LONG time for our food on a Saturday afternoon - it wasn't terribly busy so I'm not sure why it took so long. The waiter we had was not friendly at all...

The wife and I had a really good late lunch here today. It was a slow late Sunday afternoon and service was good. Our drinks and food came out quickly and our server answered any questions we had. I got the beer flight and Duck Confit sandwich and my wife got the Chickpea Burger. You definitely need to get the Smoked Gouda Mac and Cheese; it was very good! The food and beers were all quite tasty. Between the wife and I we tried 5 different beers and all were above average. The Alley Abbey 8 was probably my favorite though the Avro Lancaster aged in JD barrels was also good. Even the Pilsner was good, though I'm not really a Pilsner fan. We don't really live close to Hop Alley, but I think we'll be back at some point. If you are near Alpharetta and enjoy beer, you definitely need to pay Hop Alley a visit. Nice local spot; we'll be back!

Still a fan overall of this place but the steak sandwich had too much bread, not much meat and the flavor was bland. These guys can do better. The fried pickles and pork rinds delivered as expected.

This place is absolutely one of my favorite places in Alpharetta. This is my go-to place to grab a drink after work or just grab an amazing bite to eat. The staff, Maria, Brittany, Chris and company, are always so friendly and knowledgeable about anything on the menu. Try the 50/50 burger, or the pimento cheese burger. Try anything they recommend you to drink and I guarantee you will not be disappointed !

The food is good, but really I go here for the beer. The home brewed beer goes from good to EXCELLENT. MY favorite appetizer is the pretzel or the fried pickles. Here is one thing i really like. The back deck is DOG friendly!. I am a local and walk the dog by here at least once a week. Luv to stop and have a beer, and the staff will bring out a water bowl for the pup. Several neighbors "dog walk" means stopping to have a beer on the back deck. Great addition to downtown Alpharetta

Best place to eat in downtown Alpharetta. (Probably downtown Roswell as well). With Smoke Jack next door and Salt across the street the competition is pretty strong. All food and beverages have been great. I go with different people each time and each time everyone agrees that the food and beverages are rave worthy. They have lunch specials which have all been outstanding along. I've also had the burger and a chicken salad sandwich, which are both very good. A touch pricey. Biggest Con is finding parking and not great for large groups. Biggest recommendation. Open a second location in downtown Roswell.

If you are into beer and really good pub food this is the place for you. The in house brewed beer is always top notch, and I am a beer nerd. The food is good. I recommend the cheese curds and the burgers and sandwiches are great. The food is a touch on the pricey side but it's is worth it. The beer selection other than their beer is great and not your everyday beer selection from a neighborhood brew pub.

It's nice to see new restaurants investing in Historic Alpharetta. Hop Alley is a nice addition to the currently limited selection. The selection of beers is wide and varied. If beer isn't your taste (which is my case) they also have a full bar. The food is very good. I'm guessing that they were smart and recruited an experienced chef. There is a nice mix of simple man food combined with more sophisticated items for those that are seeking something a little more interesting. The staff is friendly and attentive too. They seem to genuinely care about their guests. There are a good number of TVs for bar guests, but they don't interfere with a more intimate experience if you sit at a table. I've visited here 10+ times as I live pretty close. I recommend that if you are in Historic Alpharetta that you check it out.

Love this place, great atmosphere great beer great food. As they have settled in the service has definately improved. Long and short, you just can't beat fresh draft beer. They have a good selection of other drinks, and how can you go wrong with a ground bacon n beef burger. Busy at lunch and dinner it is a great place to get a group together.

Can't speak for their food cuz all we did was drink but the overall experience at this place was very good. Good ambience, good crowd, decent beer selection (brewed there and beer from other places). If I'm ever back in the area I'd definitely take some friends there to grab a bite and drink some craft beer. Good to take friends, family, coworkers. Maybe customers.

I've now been here on 3 occasions (one just for drinks), so I think I can write an enlightened review: Food: in short, really good. I've had a bone-in steak with bacon mac 'n cheese and the pimento bacon burger. Owners must love bacon! They were both full of flavor and properly cooked. Onion rings and fried pickles are worth the trip as well. Service: on a Monday night, Wednesday night, and a busy Friday night I've had excellent and friendly service. No complaints here at all. Servers seem laid back but attentive. Beer: they have a good selection. Their flight is a good value, although I think several of their house brews need some tweaking. Not bad, but nothing spectacular either. Try their IPA. Overall a good place to eat. I hope if they are successful other restaurants will be drawn to DT Alpharetta!

Lunch was okay, went later in the afternoon, I tried the chicken salad. Also had the fried pickles and the pimento cheese. None of it was bad or anything to rave about.

You walk in and it's a cozy, neighborhood atmosphere. Sit at the bar and take a look at the menu of their house-brewed beer. Nice selection of a half-dozen or so brews. Try an IPA. Not bad. So then you order the Belgian Pale Strong. None left. Well then an Octoberfest. Nope, all out. Hmmm. A brewery that runs out of beer before the Saturday night rush. You get a four-top table to enjoy dinner with your mate and another couple. Menu looks promising. But the food, when it comes, is ... meh. Steak sandwich with LOTS of bread and not much steak, which is OK because the meat is really chewy. And weirdly, hardly any mushrooms, peppers, and onions on that sandwich, either. You get your bill. What's this? The numbers don't add up. There's a mysterious math "error" of 3 bucks in their favor. The waitress is mystified how that could have happened. It's no mystery that we won't be back.

We came on the day of the 1st anniversary so we were able to get in on the pig roast! We like hoppy beers and were not let down. The fried pickles did not disappoint. Great place for people watching and enjoying downtown Alpharetta.

Awesome beer; thanks to brewing their own (good standard home-brew selection; nothing fancy, but all good in my opinion), even better prices (especially for a sampler). Food is spot-on. Summer lunch and any dinner would be great!

The rating I give is my overall feeling of this place, and not my experience last night. My wife and I love this place - it's one of our few regular places. The food is out of this world (most of the time I get the avocado chicken salad sandwich). I'm not a fan of strong beer, so I've never had any of theirs, but they have plenty of other drink options that I very much enjoy. We've had Dustin as our server a couple of times, and he is wonderful. Even on only our second visit, he remembered us from last time. I noticed some subtle menu changes when I was there last night. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like collard greens are one of the sides anymore, but that's ok, because I tried their bacon mac and cheese, and it was just as good, if not better. Last night's experience was not one of their proudest moments. Our server, Codie, seemed nice enough when she was around, but she was more of an order-taker than a waitress. Not much proactivity [What's the right word? Proactiveness? I'm getting the sinister red squiggly thing under both of those words.] when it came to offering apps/desserts/recommending things/etc. They were very busy last night, so things took a little while all across the board. That may not have been Codie's fault - being a waiter myself, I understand that when it gets busy, progress tends to slow down in the kitchen/bar/counter/etc. and things happen that reflect badly on the servers even if it isn't their fault. I'd simply suggest that at times the restaurant anticipates being slammed, they staff appropriately so they have enough help, and the help that IS there really digs in and gets on their game. I wanted to post this review for 2 reasons. The first is to hopefully bring to the restaurant's attention how they lost money from us last night, and could have potentially lost sales from other people for the same reason. We were all set to order dessert, but things took so long, we finally got frustrated with the wait, so we just closed out and took our business to a frozen yogurt place instead. Hop Alley could have gotten more money from us, which would have given Codie a bigger tip. "Too bad so sad" for them. The second and biggest reason I wanted to review was so I could finally give them some props and recognition. Last night's experience will definitely not stop us from coming back.

Stopped here for a beer to wait out bad weather. Tried a flight of beer - most were decent. The Abbey was far and above my favorite. Thought about food - but it looked like it was geared more toward taking advantage of the affluent Alpharetta audience than the passionate beer drinkers budget with entree's running in the $14-23 range. Even the Apps were $5-10.

Cheese curds and Fried Pickles were awesome. My wife's steak wasn't Prime but was much better than Outback or Longhorn for the same price. I had the Beef Short Rib and it was pretty good. Others in our party had the steak sandwich and enjoyed it. The beer was amazing and fresh. Seating is kind of limited so that can be an issue.

Ever been so excited to visit a place and get there and after about 5 minutes realize you should have gone somewhere else? That is this place. We just got back from an extended visit to Europe and some friends suggested we meet up for dinner. The GF did some research and showed me the reviews and I thought yeah, but my brain turned off when I saw 50/50 bacon burger. Wow I have wanted to try that and as my heart raced it skipped it when I saw they had a pimento cheese burger too. So on Tuesday I had assembled in my mind a dream burger that I only had to wait until Friday for 50/50 bacon burger with pimento cheese. Friday came and the friends postponed to Saturday and I was like ok I still get my burger just wait another day I had waited weeks in Europe so whats one day? Well we get there and all looks promising but then we find our friends and sat down. They had gotten there early and had ordered onion rings and left us one. I cut it and dipped it into the ketchup and ick it was some ketchup they had mixed something into to give it a kick. Unfortunately not a good kick so I eat the rest of it plain. I then look at the beer list since it is a brew pub I think sure I want to try their beer. My friends said he tried 2 and they were no good. I decided to give it a try and ordered their belgian strong pale. I would give it a good B-, I asked for some samples of the other beers a heffe, APA, and a BIPA all of which made my beer selection seem brilliant in comparison. They were all funky smelling and kinda thin. So beer isn't there strong point, the waiter took it well when I said they were poo. So dinner me and the GF ordered the 50/50 me with pimento and I asked for a side of apple bacon kraut they serve with the sausages. Well when it was delivered my friend raved about the warm apple bacon kraut. I did not get that I got cold kraut which I liked, but I really wanted the apple bacon warm kraut. I would have switched it if my waiter had checked on us sooner. The burger that I had been salivating for all week, well it was alright but it wasn't all it could be. Not sure a 50/50 blend of beef and bacon is the right mix maybe 75/25 is a better mix. We had some other beers my Blanche de Bruxxelles had the tale tale sign of a beer that had been frozen with the bottom bulging. Apparently that didn't hurt it because it was the taste I expect from it. Ambiance crowded and loud with servers who do not seem to know what table is where we had 3 separate servers visit us with the wrong food and or drink. Would I go again? Probably not the reason it gets 2 stars instead of 1 is that the server was very affable when I told him the beer generally sucked. I'm kinda surprised this place has 4 stars if anyone raves about the beer punch them in the throat and rob them so they cannot spend their money on beer anymore. That said the beer list of guest beers and drafts not bad, just a little pricey.

I am beyond stoked that this place is in Alpharetta (and down the street from my house). The menu is thoughtfully put together with lots of good beer accompaniments. I tried about 4 items the night we went and everything was impressive. Pork Belly - amazing. Shrimp n Grits - great as well, I don't even like grits. Sandwiches, sides, the rest ...were all good - so can't go wrong there either. The Beer = The Jam Tried 4 of their house beers (brewed on-site) and all were good to great. The styles on tap (which rotate often) were not my norm but I could taste the freshness and quality. The other beers on tap are craft, mainly foreign beers that are a beer snob's (which I am) delight. I will be back many a time.

Ate here for the first time last night...so excited to have a brew house about a mile from my house. The atmosphere, beer, and food were all great, though only being open for a short time, the cable TV service wasn't connected yet. I ate the Avocado Chicken Salad Sandwich and it was quite possibly the best I've had (instead of mayo, they use pureed avocado!) For me, a 5 star rating only comes with consistent service and quality...if the quality and service continues with what I experienced last night, a 5th star is definitely on the horizon.

Great sausage, but the rest was kind of mediocre. I had a gin cocktail that was just okay, pickle platter, Brussels sprouts, and the sausage plate. We were going to get the grits but the server forgot...she was super apologetic about it. I also have a gluten intolerance and they had no clue how to make menu suggestions. My husband loved his beer though.

Today was first day open to the public! Great food and beer! I selected the Bacon, Asparagus, and Tomato Sandwich with side of yummy cream corn! WOW! Paired with IPA ...W preferred house IPA over one of the Guest draft. Slight minus was service but it was opening night and our server still needed a little more service training; however, he responded well to suggestions! GM checked on food, beer, and service. Met owner who has sharp eye on business while appearing casually socializing and greeting customers! Plan on being a regular and hope others will support this new business as well! To sum it up.....AMAZING!

After just one visit this is my favorite restaurant. The food was really good. The house beer was, if not award winning, perfectly acceptable for a micro-brew. The burger, over sized onion rings, and grits were stellar. Missing from the beer menu was anything "lite", and nothing at all from any of the big commercial breweries. But my Corona Lite loving wife enjoyed the house kolsch. My one complaint - ditch the broadcast radio as the in house music. A good pandora mix of jazz, blues, and a tiny bit of alt-country would be perfect.

We love trying out new restaurants, especially when they have a good selection of craft beer. Hop Alley has a warm and inviting look; we loved the exposed brick wall, dark wood and drink chalkboards. There was a great selection of food as well. We tried the fried pickles first. The batter was crispy and didn't fall off the pickle when you bit into it. My husband had the 50/50 burger, made with beef and ground bacon. It was delicious and really juicy. The side order of french fries were crispy and well-seasoned. I had the sausage sandwich with the JK (italian style sausage) and a side of creamed corn with bacon. The sausage had great flavor and I loved the sauerkraut and beer mustard. The bun did get soggy, but it had crisp, buttery edges from being on the grill. The creamed corn was awesome! The restaurant was crowded when we arrived, but we were seated right away. Our server was very good and brought our drinks and food quickly. Oh right, I completely forgot to mention the beer! We tried the SMASH, a pale ale made with centennial hops and the Saison, both made in house. Honestly, we drink a lot of craft beer and these were really good. Easy drinking and only $3.50 a pint! The downside was that there were only 3 beers on tap that night, but there were 4 more fermenting. I would like to see more house beers on tap and maybe for some of them to become regular. We had a great first experience and we will definitely be back.

I didn't feel like spending $20 (food or drink tickets NOT included) for loud obnoxious music at the Alpharetta Oktoberfest downtown, so I decided to stop in at Hop Alley. Probably stopped in on a bad night - Saturday evening when they were having their own Oktoberfest celebration and GA vs. TENN was on TV. Unfortunately, loud, drunk and obnoxious people were everywhere! Their homemade brews are not too bad, a little flat I thought, and not as cold as I would have liked. They have other draft options as well as bottles, but twice as pricey in some cases. The burger was decent, but the bratwurst at $9 was not worth it. My wife was served one of their home-brewed IPAs in a chipped glass - not a good first impression and the German cockroaches crawling on the walls behind the bench seating against the wall did not exactly add to the ambiance either. I'll probably give it another shot on a regular menu night, when it is hopefully not as busy. If you do go, stay away from the walls and dark corners!

Great food. I love their fried cheese curds. (Almost religious) The burgers are also fabulous. I am not a beer girl but my hubby certainly enjoyed the house brews... I had the best grapefruit flavored martini made with their in house flavored vodka. AmAzInG! I LoVe this place and we will be back!

I found my new bar in town. Good selection of beer and really friendly bartender. They have a good variety of beer that they brew in house and all the ones I tried were very good. You can tell the beer list is created by beer nerds. Lots of Belgians and sour beers to choose from. A good atmosphere and good music too, mostly 90s rock. All of the brewing equipment is right behind the bar. I would recommend this brew pub too anyone.

Best Restaurant in the Area. The Home brewed Craft beers were delish, and the food was amazing. We usually go to Pure down the street, but this is my new go to spot. Food: Had the Chicken Salad Sandwich, Guacamole based, and it was incredible. The Pimento Cheese Grits are a must have side item. Wife had the grilled chicken with mac and cheese which was also really good. I had 3 8oz beers (only $3.50 a pop) Abbey Alley (dubbel), Belgian Pale Ale, and an Oatmeal Stout. I really liked all 3 and they were all very different. I didn't have any issue with flat beers as some other reviewer mentioned. I did notice a little sediment in my Abbey Alley, which is common in craft beers, especially when you get closer to the bottom of the batch, but not a big deal at all. They were solid beers. Overall, I thought this was placed was reasonably priced, with great beer and food. I'll definitely be back. Also, there's a 15% off coupon on motivdeals!

Late review, but we go here pretty frequently. I really enjoy this local establishment and normally have great service! There was one time not long after they opened that we had poor service, but I have yet to see that one waitress again. Brunch is great here, but if you are planning on having a bloody mary or mimosa ( and I recommend both) then make sure you follow Alpharetta laws and wait till 12:30pm or you can do like we did and hang out for a bit beforehand! Their specialty dinners such as the Valentine's day special are awesome and worth going for!

Made apoint of trying this place because of the brewing aspect. I was able to try 5 of 6 of their beers (discretion was the better part of valor since I was driving). I enjoyed them all with my personal favorite being the Hellfire. Service was ok and the food was ok. I had a burger that was not the greatest I have ever had but not the greatest. I understand that they are supposed to have great burgers, but I didn't see it. I did have a MAJOR issue with the onion rings I ordered. The 3 that came with teh burger ended up being 3 too many. They were flavorless and so greasy that I had reflux issues during the night. I compared notes with they guy next to me at the bar, He had the same experience with the rings. Despite the rings, I still rate it a 4. When I am back for my next round of meetings, I will be back.

Note bad for a pub. Food was good, I echo the praise the avocado chicken salad sandwich received, it was tasty. IPA was hoppy, it was dead during lunch but i see this place busy post 5pm. Give it a shot.

Prices are good, atmosphere chill, people nice... What better place to hangout. If you are looking for a place to chill in the "burbs", drink some good beer, have a cocktail, and have something to snack on... this is the place. Get risky and try the beer made in the bourbon barrels. Don't forget to do the "flights"

Being in the beer industry I am always happy to see new places opening and want to try them out, and Hop Alley has been on my list since they opened. It took me a while to find time to go, but one Sunday night recently after I work I ventured up North to see what I thought about the place. Mind you, I don't go much farther than work and try to always keep my beer and food consumption intown, so it was a stretch to even make the few mile trip here. Luckily, it was timed perfectly and they weren't very busy so I could enjoy it without being rushed or deafened. Located in the 'downtown' Alpharetta area, which is really just a short stretch of road with a few buildings on either side, it's easy to miss unless you know the area a little. I passed it easily without ever seeing a sign, then came back and found it by creeping slow enough to read the fronts of all the places. Parking is street parking out front, though there may be a public lot somewhere too. On a Sunday night at 7:45 it was slow enough to get a spot up close, in front of their neighbor, which was nice. Inside, it's smaller than I expected, basically a shotgun buildout with the bar and brewhouse to the right, seating to the left. The brewhouse location is actually strange to me as there's no divider or wall separating the tanks from the bar, just a long drain in the floor maybe three feet behind the bartender's walking path. There was maybe two tables and two bar patrons there so I sat towards the front end of the bar and was promptly greeted by the bartender, a younger lady who seemed acquainted well with her surroundings. I ordered a flight of their beers, four, and then scanned the menus for food options. Their draft and bottle list is pretty surprising for this far North, lots of Belgians and several sours which I just didn't think Alpharetta would go for (I've later found that the staff are sour lovers though from seeing them in my store, which might be driving some of the choices). I had the Belgian IPA, Kolsch, Hefeweizen, and the Belgian Strong, all solid middle of the road beers. The Kolsch was too hoppy for the style (confirmed by the brewer himself later) and the others were good but nothing great. I do fully take into account it being a new place and the brewer adjusting his recipes, as is the case anywhere. I didn't dislike any of them. I got a burger and fries, fries were pretty good, burger was great, enough so that I'd come back just for it alone. My only gripe, and this has no bearing on my review or the business itself, but there was a family outside later in the evening who were standing around, maybe waiting for someone, and the kids, both young and older, were all jumping and climbing on the small trees lined up down the curb outside, breaking the limbs back. As a business owner or employee here I would have busted ass for that kind of vandalism, even gone as far as calling the police, but I understand some employees not wanting to stir the pot with the locals. Still, it really pissed me off to see that and had I been more into the beers, I would have said something. That kind of shitty parental ignorance makes me not want to be anywhere near a place they would frequent. But, that doesn't mar the experience at Hop Alley, just something I wanted to note so that maybe someone reading this can take action in the future. Someone who has the authority, and not some drunk guy starting shit like I would have been. Anyway, a solid place with definite potential, and now that I have been and know it's not an hour away, a place I can check into again soon. Hoping they get a solid footing and become a place to enjoy, but not become the place where douchebags frequent. There's plenty of Taco Macs already.

Lots of promise, but needs improvement. The space is really cool, right next to Smokejack. High ceilings and brick walls, with a long curving bar. Service was average. Took a while for the beers to arrive, but he was friendly so we dealt with it. The beers definitely need some help, and there were only two choices. I had the house SMASH pale ale, and it was average at best. Flat, no life, bland taste. Very disappointing for a big pale ale/IPA guy. My wife's house saison, she said, tasted great, but it was also flat and lifeless. Maybe a carbonation problem tonight? We moved to outside brands for our next round. The cheese and meat plate was excellent. Large portions, especially of the cheese, and everything was fresh. Definitely recommended. My steak sandwich was also very good. Actually cooked medium rare like I asked (a big plus!) and the cheese and bread were good. I had the (huge) onion rings as a side and they were a little bland, but good with ketchup. My wife's wedge salad was good, but small. But it was reasonably priced, so no worries. We'll definitely be back for the food and atmosphere, but we're hoping the beer, in particular, improves. You can't sell subpar beer, or just two choices, and call yourself a "brew pub".

Great little brewery tucked away in Alpharetta. The service was great, and the Cuban Sandwich was one of the best I have ever had (outside Miami), the pork was perfect and flavorful. Early closing time was a drawback so I will try and come earlier.

Thanks to Charlie B. and his recommendation several months ago, I am now a HUGE fan of this place. I dig brewpubs but what is super great about Hop Alley is their food is fantastic. They are located right off of Main St. in the Alpharetta Business District. Parking is definitely available on the street or at nearby lots. Service has always been stellar here and they have great week day happy hour specials as well. When you walk in you can't help but notice the giant fixtures where they brew their beer. Not sure what they are called but they have plenty right in the open by the bar. The place is well laid out. There is plenty of seating at the bar and throughout the bar/restaurant. We always have great service during each visit. If you like meatloaf, they have a great entrée that comes with creamy mashed potatoes and green beans. Definitely a fan of this entrée and will always choose that as my number one selection. My boyfriend digs their duck confit sandwich. It does come with sauerkraut on a sourdough bread but if you're a fan of duck meat, then you'll dig this sandwich. Our favorite sides are the Gouda mac and cheese and the steamed broccoli. During my most recent visit, I tried their 12 oz. NY Strip steak because they were having a special and it was cooked to perfection! I asked for the steak to be cooked "medium" and they did a fantastic job. Typically when I order steak they can never get it right but the folks over at Hop Alley did a fantastic job and I regret not taking a picture once I cut into the steak last night. Looking forward to future happy hour visits here and introducing new friends to this neat brewpub!

Favorite neighborhood hangout - really good beer and mouth watering burgers. Knowledgeable staff so you can rely on their recommendations. Hop Alley has a great back patio to enjoy the summer weather and - a big plus for us - the patio is dog friendly. The menu ranges from steak to salad, and while its a brewpub, Hop Alley also has a solid spirits menu. Good food, good beer and a good environment.

I came here with a girlfriend for dinner on a Friday around 6 and we were seated right away, though the place was full by 7. They have a great beer and wine selection, plus very reasonably priced cocktails! I had their Belgian inspired beer and it was pretty good and only $5! The food was yummy too! I had the chicken salad sandwich with roasted veggies, and my friend had the pimento grilled cheese with sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious, especially those fries! The sandwich dinners were only $9! The place is pretty cute too, wood and concrete, with micro brewery decor all around. Great service as well!

When I arrived the restaurant was near capacity, but I was able to get a seat a the bar. I previewed the menu before arriving and knew I wanted to try the cuisses de grenouilles and duck confit sandwich. I looked over the drinks and requested a sample two of their beers. I tried the Hellfire IPA and Titletown Pilsner. The Hellfire IPA was a good balance of citrus notes and hops. The Titletown Pilsner was okay. I decided to buy neither and opt for my favorite bourbon, Angel's Envy [neat]. The frog legs were good, with the exception of one that was undercooked. I tasted the garlic butter soy sauce, but did not use it. The duck confit sandwich has meat from duck legs, apple-bacon kraut, a housemade BBQ sauce and fried onions and pickles. Although good, it was not the best flavor profile for my palate. I chose pimento cheese grits as a side. The grits were good with a dominant pimento cheese flavor. The brunch menu looks appetizing. I may try something from it on a future visit.

We drive by here everyday on our way home and finally had some time to try it out! I had the house brew Blonde beer and he had a German bottled beer. The Blonde wasn't as "light" as suggested on the menu but was still a decent beer. Took a little while for the beers to arrive considering the place was darn near empty. We ordered from the Brunch menu and had the monte cristo (French toast bread with ham and Swiss In between) and he had the corned beef hash. We started with the bacon in a jar with peanut butter dip. The bacon and peanut butter starter was amazing and disappeared fast. When our food arrived at the table my order was missing the powdered sugar and syrup. I had to ask for syrup and the server gave list of syrups...which confused me because the menu states my order comes with some, I simply wanted the one I meant to have. I ordered some original syrup to keep it simple. My meal ended up being pretty darn good. My husbands corned beef hash was amazing. We will return due to the menu selections, quality food and beer. The service definitely has room for improvement. We are usually people that sit at the bar and will most likely just do that next time.

This place has the trifecta: great beer, food, and service! Beer: The beer they brew here is excellent. Beyond that, they have an extensive list from other places. By far the best beer place I've been to in Atlanta outside of Decatur. Food: The food here is one-of-a-kind! My personal favorite is the steak sandwich. Three people at my table ordered the chicken and waffles and all cleared their plates. The sides are phenomenal as well: pimento cheese grits, huge onion rings, delicious collard greens, and beyond! This review would not be complete without mentioning that if you come here, you MUST order the bacon and peanut butter appetizer! Service: Always the best! Waiters are always friendly and knowledgeable.

Over an hour wait on the kitchen? Not a table, the kitchen. 11 empty tables and couldn't be sat on a Saturday night at 8 pm because the kitchen was backed up? Not sure why with 11 empty tables. Hire more kitchen staff or ones that can keep a restaurant on time on a busy weekend. This was a place we looked forward to trying for the first time. No Bueno!

Yikes, I always dislike giving bad yelp reviews, especially when there are so many good ones. Pro's The inside is really cool. Rustic with a modern brewery kind of twist (not sure if that makes sense but it was!) Cool location--nice antique shop near by, painting place yada yada Unfortunately, that's where it ends for me The service wasn't great, not saying we didn't get our food, but the bartender seemed in a pissy mood and recommended nothing, even though he knew I was having trouble deciding. He seemed like he couldn't wait to get us out of there (and it was dead on a Saturday afternoon) We started with the fried pickles...now I know its a personal preference but there was way too much dough and it was mushy, but the pickles were fresh. We both got burgers. Nothing special. Our total bill was over 50$ and I felt jipped, especially since I had been so excited to come here. I don't know if I will give this place another chance, I REALLY want to like it but it just didn't live up to my (not very high) expectations.

Did not have food, but this place has a nice vibe to it and a nice variety of beers. They even have a sour ale selection, which is quite rare. Although I did not eat, they had some unique menu items.

Hop Alley Brew Pub is a quant restaurant with lots of wood decor. It gives off a laid back vibe with a touch of class. Definitely a more casual vibe. Chickpea burger is reaaaaally filling. I asked for the sauce on the side (tzatziki and tahini, something like that?) and it was fabulous. My side included broccoli which was your standard steamed broccoli...maybe a tad bit overcooked. The chickpea burger had a good flavor to it. It's hard to describe the flavor of it; I guess it's a bit savory with the seasonings on it. I think they make the patty in house too, so if you are concerned with the components that make up the chickpea burger, I'm sure they know. We went on Sunday for their bottomless mimosas. Bartender was great and super attentive. They serve mimosas 12:30pm sharp. Since the mimosas are about $5 each, it's worth getting the bottomless mimosa option if you drink at least 3.

Great food, great beer. But the flies in the deck area are obnoxious! I must have waved flies off every 2 minutes.

To start, the parking situation is squirrelly,; construction is evident to the front of the establishments on that street and parking in the rear is exclusive to certain times of the day. After asking, parking was available across the street, parallel or covered. Upon entering, no one made you feel welcomed and the waiter walking past us, who gave my husband info about parking, seemed relieved that we were heading to the bar. Minor....drink coasters do serve a purpose & when they are readily assessable and not used, it relays a nonchalant attitude about themselves and who they represent. Steak sandwiches arrived, the bread had no unity with melted cheese and other components, which were just sitting there. Very familiar with roasted vegetables, mine weren't, husband was unrecognizable. My impression of the whole experience was quite deflated, for the reviews depicted another story.

Excellent beer, excellent food. Not much more to say. Do yourself a favor & grab their chicken salad sandwich, they use avocado instead of mayo, and it is superb!

This is a little gem in Northern Atlanta. They produce some solid brews - few great ones, a few not so great - but when partnered with their food offerings, this place is a absolute must stop. Start off your adventure with an order of the Wisconsin Cheese Curds with a side of Rooster sauce. These might be the best cheese curds I've ever had. Light crisp, perfect melt, delicious finish. Comes with a cheese dip sauce too. Then I ordered a 50/50 bacon Angie's beef burger with a side of the mac n cheese. Let's start with the side.... BEST MAC N CHEESE. Period. Any order, even a side, is made to order and I was actually sipping everything I could in them to keep enjoying the sauce. On to the burger. Just a delicious concoction of bacon and beef, topped with bacon and avocado. Simply delicious! I topped off my experience with a sampler of beer and a hellfire IPA (one of their bests). Just stop by here when in town and you will not be disappointed!

I had the duck confit sandwich and was excited to try it, but the mustard flavor was over powering and hardly tasted any of the duck. I had the hellfire IPA, which is supposed to be one of their flagship beers. Even though I love IPAs, I wasn't too keen on this one. The initial flavor was too bitter. The brunch all you can drink mimosas and chicken and waffles are tempting me to come back on a Sunday.

Great beers and food is good too. I do wish the menu was a bit more diverse, but for a beer and a burger it's excellent.

Second time here, outstanding beer and food. They have their own brew in addition to other beers and a full bar. The 50/50 burger is absolutely THE BEST burger I have ever had, literally melts in your mouth. The mac-n-cheese is also outstanding. This place is worth the special trip if you're not a local. You won't be disappointed.

"A fine beer may be judged with only one sip, but it's better to be thoroughly sure." Czech Proverb Following this sage advice, lunch began with a flight of their crafted beers to be judged. For $6 you are given four choices to try, We tried the following In-House brews: Falconers IPA, a clean, light IPA. Festive Elves Spiced Winter Warmer, with hints of nutmeg, almost coffee like. Okay to try, but not one I would have regularly. Alley Abbey 8, a 7.8% Belgian Dubbel, which was surprisingly light. Scorched Rye, a rye pale ale, which stole the show. It had a great balance and went down easy, too easy. The Scorched Rye was also a great complement to the fried pub fare, which in this case was Wisconsin Cheese Curds and Onion Rings. The onion rings were impressive in size and the cheese curds were a treat. The batter at Hop Alley is a bit sweet, almost doughnut-like, which unfortunately didn't work with the sweetness of the onions. The cheese curds also lost to the sweetness of the batter, requiring either a sharper cheese, or a different batter. Next trip, I'm going for the fried pickles, so watch out for a pickle update. The menu is perfect for the area, with lots to go with. Brunch menu available on Sundays. I will definitely be back to try more of their beers, just to be sure!

Apparently this not just one of those growler places... Great food! Very impressive beer selection, house brews were very impressive (based on my beer taster's opinion.) mixed drinks exceeded this non beer drinkers expectations. Very knowledgeable and attractive staff. Beautiful, hip, space! We will be back!

Great place for good beer and accompanying cuisine in the heart of old Alpharetta. A very knowledgeable staff and cozy atmosphere make this place a terrific brewpub to throw back a few beers from their outstanding collection. They also offer cocktails and wine (if you're into that kinda thing) Make an evening of it and enjoy this local gem.

I am trying to like this place because of the location and concept but the result is not amazing. The beers brewed in house are bland but the bottled selection is great. The ingredients are great and I eve went to Heywoods just to buy their sausage. I dong know how, but they take great ingredients and make a less than stellar meal. I hope they improve and stay in business. This is my fourth time here and I only eat here to support the local businesses and when Blind Murphy has their parties here.

Hop Alley has a very friendly and helpful bar staff that answered several of our questions about their brews and were attentive to our needs. The decor is nice, with exposed bulb lightening hanging down from the bar and dark wood tones. This place is brand new so it's hard to criticize minor glitches but...the in-house brews seemed a little weak in flavor. I'm sure this is an early batch and they will get better as time goes on so please don't let this review dissuade you from trying them all as my group did. They definitely have potential. They also have a strong line-up of "guest" drafts and bottles and a few wines as well. The food was pretty good, too. We got mostly apps including a charcuterie plate, onion rings, a 50/50 burger (half beef, half applewood bacon), and a side of cheese fries. The burger stood out with its smoky flavor and juicy texture. The rings were enormous and even though I prefer skinny rings these were not bad. The charcuterie plate was pretty tasty but the french flies were bland and soggy. I took home an avocado chicken salad sandwich, portobello sandwich and raspberry/goat cheese salad and the sandwiches were better than the salad, which seems to be missing something. I will definitely be back to see how this place progresses in both its beers and menu. Alpharetta needs to come out and support our new, local brewery!

First of all, the restaurant is located in downtown Alpharetta which is beyond adorable ( they have scarecrows everywhere at the moment.) On top of that, I have been there three separate times and I have tried various items on the menu. All three times the service, food, and the beer have been excellent. I am not much of a vodka girl, but they do infuse there own vodka, so that is probably worth a try. What more can I say other than fried pickles... Mmm.. :)

I love this place. Best burgers around in my opinion. They are doing a great job with the brew. Much better than I have enjoyed at Any if the Five Seasons brew pubs around town. A somewhat limited menu, but what they serve is very good. Definitely a great addition to the Alpharetta/Roswell food scene!

Service is ok, nothing great-had to grab waiter several times for water. I had the avacodo Chix sandwich the first time we went & it was very yummy. Second time there I ordered it again & it was ok...just ok. Def not consistent with what I had the first time. Tried to bring in a large party & the bar manager, Chris, was rude & dismissive thing me they are not a place for large parties. I asked him if we should take our party elsewhere & he very rudely & non-accommodatingly told me again that they don't do big parties. Ugh, it's sad that such a new place already has such an attitude. Restaurants are a dime & dozen & we happily went elsewhere...& you may want to as well.

Hop Alley is right up my alley. Brewing beer is hard. Not everybody likes the beer I like, but I really like this place. That is what makes HOP interesting and worth trying. Sample the beer, order the same one every time or a special cocktail. Food outstanding except for onion rings. Not a fan of heart attack food anyway. Would love to see a fish sandwich. I've think this is a hip, place to been seen in Alpha-tater.. See you there soon!

I never write reviews because I feel everyone usually has said enough. However after reading the reviews for this place I felt i just had to write something. I have been going to Hop Alley for about 2 months now. The food has always been good, but @Amber L. I ate there last night and the food was out of this world! They had specials that were not on the menu and they looked/tasted amazing. I had an order of the mussels that had been cooked with their Rye IPA for my appetizer. It was certainly a delicious pairing. My wife tried the charcuterie plate like she usually does, but this was much better than the previous plates we have seen. It had better meat choices and homemade jams making the plate colorful, inviting and delicious! Our main courses were also excellent, While my wife had the special of penne pasta with Italian sausage (yes I had a few bites and It was a pleasant dish) I would usually do the 50/50 burger, but wanted to change it up just a bit. So instead I decided to try the sausage platter once again. The first time the sausages were a bit to dry for my liking, but they must have cooked them differently because they were perfect. the chedderwurst was juicy (as was the Italian) and still cheesy! If there is a new chef in the kitchen then he is certainly putting out a much more inviting and delicious product. Everything was plated wonderfully and tasted great. (remember, you eat with your eyes first) Congratulations to Hop Alley for making positive changes! Now for the service. every time we come back to Hop Alley our service gets better. At first it was slow, but it was in its first few weeks and that is to be expected. We are always greeted in a timely manor and the wait staff is so informative about what they have and helping my wife around the beer menu (they are always able to find her something she enjoys even though she used to say she was not a beer drinker). Our food came out much faster than normal however that really was never our concern because the beer is so good, but it is certainly a plus! We have sat at the bar as well as the tables and our service has never been anything less than great. With the amount of reviews on this place, I certainly hope the one or two bad apple reviews don't deter people from trying it out for themselves. It is an atmosphere and food that you really don't want to miss. Remember everyone nowadays is a critique and everyone has different taste buds so try it out for yourself and create your own opinion. You will certainly be happy you did.

I've been a couple of times now... Food is great, fried pickles are ridiculously addicting. They sold out of a couple of the beers the first time I visited, not a good idea if you are a brew pub. However, seems like they've gotten the kinks out and last night they had a couple of nice IPAs, especially the American styled one. This place is a fantastic addition to Alpharetta!

The food we ordered was very salty and when we told our server he didn't even apologize, instead he looked unhappy to serve us.The salad had long stems and some of the leaves were spoiled. We even tried to sort out the spoiled but the stems tasted awful. So we had no choice but to reject it. I won't recommend this place for dinner or lunch.

On the good side, they feature great ambiance, a nice location, and a good bar. I won't eat here again though... the food hasn't been right in 3 visits, and the service is on the slow side. If you want a nice looking dark wood and stone bar for a drink, check it out. If you want to eat, run, don't walk, elsewhere. I've given it 3 chances because I really want it to be good, but it's just not.

So this is a perfect spot in downtown alpharetta! A few of my co-workers and I wanted to have a beverage (or two), and reallly enjoy the great weather here in Atlanta, this place hit that spot! First off, this place is extremely fairly priced, and the service was top notch. The server knew all about the beers they brew in house, yes in house! The food was way below what prices we were expecting, and to be honest, it really feels like you're at home here. I would recommend this place for the great beers (the have a 4 shot sampler as well), and sandwiches made fresh, if you're in the area, I highly recommend...

We visited Hop Alley last night for the first time. We loved the atmosphere and the beer selection. They didn't have a cider, but said they were working on getting one. I drink it because it is gluten free. The fried pickles were amazing. We ordered the sausage plate and the sausage came out REALLY burnt and dry. They had really great flavor and you could taste the potential if they had been cooked properly. They were served over an apple sauerkraut that was delicious. Also, we asked for some mustard and the waitress said they didn't have any mustard in house except yellow, which I thought was odd since they have a sausage plate and I think they used stone mustard in the sauerkraut so you'd think you could get you a side of it. I was also surprised, considering it was only their second weekend open, that a manager or owner didn't make a table visit. My husband and I have both been in the restaurant business for years and we understand that it takes a new restaurant a minute to get their flow going. We will definitely be making another trip.

Had dinner here with a friend on their dog-friendly back patio. We passed on the drinks but really enjoyed their food. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and my friend had the chicken salad sandwich with the Gouda mac and cheese. Everything was excellent and the sides were especially taste bud nirvana. The prices were fair and we had very attentive service. Enjoyed the atmosphere as well. I will be back!

I'm giving 4 stars based on past experiences here. My last trip was not a good one however. I hope the ownership/management will read this and fix some basic things. I went by for lunch around 1:00...only 3 people in the whole place. The A/C was not working so it was hot. I ordered a beer...it was far from cold. I was given a menu that was just nasty. It was printed on copy paper, which is not a problem to me...but it it has been wet, smeared so you can't read it, and is covered with nasty crusty dried food it becomes a big deal. I looked around, and found that it wasn't exactly clean anywhere. I worked in the restaurant business for almost 20 years. Consistency and cleanliness are huge deals. Ambiance is important too...part of what I loved about the place in the past was it's really cool atmosphere...but when it's 80 degrees inside, and you have portable fan running behind the bar it's kind of depressing. I'm not a food snob, but I like restaurants to be clean, and beer to be cold. I didn't even order lunch...I drank 1/4 of my beer, paid, and I left. I don't like beating places up without first making ownership aware...I don't know if bartenders changed, if management changed...but something did. I have always had awesome experiences at your establishment. I have brought many friends there...but now I have to go back by myself and hope things are back to normal. I know this review sounds bad...but it adequately describes my last visit. I will edit this review if it's better next time. I hope the fact I am still leaving 4 stars shows you that I truly want it to go back. Maybe it was just a bad day...and I know the parking situation can not help. Come on Hop Alley...I love your concept.

During 'Taste of Alpharetta' on May 7th, with all our snacking, we decided to have a sit down and to get out of the hot sun. We ordered the Charcuterie...a sampler of artisan meats and cheeses. An excellent match with their restaurant made brew! Super, super, super service!!!

I really hate to write this review but the management and owners need to know this This review is for service. We dropped in just to try a beer and watch a little of the Georgia game. To even get a beer took s while. We asked for the Tv to be turned to the game a couple of times and nothing happened. The bartender had no personality and did not seem to care about his customers. The real kicker was some girl behind the bar filing her nails around the booze and open glasses. It was disgusting. I would have fired her on the spot. Most of my reviews are positive. I hope to update this in the future if we ever come back.

Wow. Just moved to the neighborhood & was so looking to love a new place close to the house. No greeting, rude service from start to finish. Even after explaining our newness to the neighborhood & asking for help with the menu, the rudeness prevailed. Too bad. Won't be back.

On January 7, I woke up at 5:45 a.m. in Harvest, AL with a 25 ft truck mostly loaded to move to Atlanta. By 8:30 p.m. my friends, family, and I were exhausted and hungry. My buddy who drove with me behind the truck and I had not eaten since before lunch, and this place sounded pretty great when my wife read the menu off. I include this detail for those who disagree with my review before or after it's written, because being that darn hungry tends to bias me as an eater. So, we ordered the cheese curds and pretzel for appetizers, and both were amazing. The pretzel tore easily, so it was easier to share than we had originally anticipated. I think I ended up eating most of the cheese curds, so they're only really good if you're a fan of fried food like I am. For main dishes, my brother-in-law and grandmother-in-law had the avocado chicken salad sandwich. My grandmother couldn't finish hers, so I finished it off for her the next morning when I woke up hungry. It was even good cold, and may have actually been the best thing we ordered at the table. I had the pork cheeks because I hadn't tried a new food lately, and cheek was pretty much the only part of the pig I had not yet tried. I wasn't as huge a fan as I had thought I would be. The meat was a little bit tougher than I had thought it would be, but the seasoning was really good. The brussel sprouts were part of what convinced me to try this dish since my wife hates them and I rarely get them, but they had been shredded and were negligible to the dish. The ravioli that came with it, however, had an odd taste that I still haven't been able to identify. I didn't finish the ravioli, but I did finish everything else. My wife had the crab cakes, which she enjoyed so thoroughly that I didn't even get a chance to try a bite! My buddy had the 50/50 bacon burger, and he seemed to enjoy it too. The beer selection is what puts this up to the fifth star. I had the coffee stout, which really made me feel great after such a long, cold day. I don't drink much, so I just had the one, but I did try my buddy's aged beer, which was also on point. The servers knew their menus fairly well, but didn't make stuff up when stumped. Our waiter seemed to know the beers a lot better than the food, but that's to be expected when the place has such an awesome beer list. The ambiance was not really on my mind, but in retrospect it's definitely the type of place where you could gather with a few close friends and chat over beers (or wines, if that's your bag). Definitely on our go-back list!

I was in town to visit my dad and agreed to meet an colleague. As someone who travels a lot, I am not interested in chains, and microbrewed beer is even better. Hop Alley fit the bill. The beer? I tried the IPA, Scotch Ale and Coffee Stout. The IPA is a wonderfully balanced IPA. Nice florals, nice finish and a good hops mix so high IBUs here does not equal kick you in the side of face. The Scotch Ale has a really nice body. As one that is not generally fond of Scotch Ales, I am so glad for the recommendation Jay. Kudos. Jay also recommended the Coffee Stout. A little too coffee for my tastes, but still a nice feel on the tongue. Food? I tried the sausage plate and some frog legs. I ordered the duck sausage, lamb sausage and cheddarwurst. Chef Joe came out and said they were out of duck but had some wild boar sausage. Awesome. The plate comes out and has 4 sausages, as he found some duck. Lamb - okay, a bit too course ground and not a lot of umph Wild Boar - Nice flavor and I would consider it again, except for the ... Duck - I am not generally a fan of sausage with a kielbasa consistency, but the duck sausage is a bit softer in texture and has a nice taste with the herbs added Cheddarwurst - Nice amount of cheese (not overbearing) and smoked? holy sh*t what a great addition. Completely unexpected, but d*mn ... I sure love to smoke brats at home and this was wonderful. Kudos Frog Legs - I got chance to talk to chef Joe as I walked out (taking a break behind the restaurant) and told him what I am going to say here. The frog legs are wonderful. Like calamari, someone who can cook frog legs to the perfect consistency should be congratulated. Not sure if Joe or one of his cooks cooked the frog legs, but the texture hit the bullseye (wish they had calamari, as that is a slightly higher bar). The bad? The sauce. Sriracha Ranch? Really. For a menu that has duck and wild boar sausage, and screams "Taking chances", you want to go with safe sauces? Guess what? It does not work. Find a different sauce that complements the fishy/chicken uniqueness of frog legs rather than a "safe" sauce that does not complement the wonderfulness. You have good cooks, let them work the wonderfulness I found in your sausage. Joe did say they were coming out with an updated menu shortly. Guys, I like the frog legs idea, but change the sauce. It sucks. If you had hit a home run here, it would have been 5 instead of 5 stars.

I was disappointed in my Father's Day meal here. Our waiter was not interested in working today. I'm not sure the kitchen staff was very enthused either. As a craft beer enthusiast, I had high hopes for this place. Unfortunately, I felt their IPA lacked boldness and character, not unlike the food. The apps were ok, but the meals were not close to good. The great experience found by many earlier reviewers was unfortunately not in existence when we arrived...
