There are a number of China Taste restaurants in the Sarasota area. This is my second time at this particular location. Tonight I learned that all locations are not created equal. I've had the General Tso's Tofu on many occasions from the Sarasota / Bee Ridge location, and it is awesome. The tofu is fried lightly and coated with the sweet red sauce. It is the vegetarian equivalent of General Tso's Chicken. This batch from the Venice / Jacaranda location was awful. The tofu was very hard and tough. It was cooked so hard that no amount of the red sauce can counteract the texture. So this was either ancient tofu or it was DRASTICALLY over-cooked. When I cook with tofu, I only use extra firm, and I have no idea what it would take to reduce the tofu to this degree of toughness. The vegetable fried rice was fine. They gave me a quart but I only ordered a pint. Now I know why. I won't return to this location.

Person at register (order taker) surly. Food mediocre at best, long wait for take-out, and not all food on menu available.

Really good place. Great food, nice people, perfect service. It seems like all Chinese restaurants in the area are very similar, but this one just has food that tastes a little better. More good stuff in the fried rice, etc. Plus, the portions are generous enough that my wife and I always just get one combo dinner to split plus an extra egg roll. It's worth mentioning that the wings are unusually good. Very crispy with a hint of ginger, not at all greasy. And they're bigger than you get other places. They come whole, and even the flappers have some meat on them. I just wish someplace in this town would sell hot and sour soup that actually is hot and sour. Theirs is decent, but too Americanized for my taste. Overall, though, our favorite Chinese place within driving distance.

My mother just moved to Venice so I took a few days off to help her get settled. We decided to get Chinese takeout one particularly rainy night, and took a chance on China Taste based on location and Yelp's ever-reliable reviews. We were amazed at just how delicious their food was, how quickly it was ready and how spot on they were in following instructions (we're picky). The owners/employees were all very sweet. Also, I may have a skewed sense of prices, but I thought they were super cheap. In my opinion, China Taste was on par with my favorite Chinese food place in NYC, so I feel like that's saying something! Okay, enough reviewing; I'm going back for seconds.

Got food poisoning from their beef and snow peas. I was sick all night with pain and diarrhea and I will never order from them again!

I drive all the way from the south side of North Port to get food here. It's the best in the area. Really. The guy at the counter the other reviews are talking about as "surly" is the owner's kid...and he doesn't speak English very clearly. I don't go there to criticize them. I go there because it's good, it's fresh, and it's affordable.

This is the Chinese Restaurant that we have been using since it opened. The wait is longer than other Chinese restaurants in the area, but this place cooks the food to order. I prefer fresh food even if it means waiting a little longer. The portions are generous and well seasoned. One thing that really sets this place apart from the other Chinese restaurants in the area is this place takes the time to drain the fried foods properly - ensuring the food is crispy and not greasy.

We have been eating here for years and have never been disappointed. The lunch specials are large and a great price.

We stopped here on our way through town, based on the positive reviews, and we were totally happy with the whole experience. The teenaged boy at the counter was polite and friendly, chatting with us as we waited for our food. The wait was reasonable considering that everything was cooked to order. The fried dumplings (potstickers) were plump, perfectly cooked, and came with soy-vinegar dipping sauce. The garlic sauce beef had plenty of broccoli and other veggies. The beef was tender and the sauce was flavorful with just a hint of heat. My only complaint was that the sauce was a bit too sweet. Our mushu pork had tons of meat and included 5 pancakes. Portions were more than generous. While there, a steady stream of customers came to pick up orders. Everyone mentioned how much they loved the food. This is a take-out place but since we are traveling we actually ate there. They weren't equipped for dining in but they bent over backwards to make sure we had what we needed. If we lived in the area, we'd certainly come here again.

I read the reviews then ordered dinner for the family, I guess maybe I was setting the bar way to high. Was not satisfied at all. Boneless ribs were hard and the beef and broccoli was terrible. This place could never survive back in Jersey, but it doesn't have to.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
