Moxie's is a great place to visit for morning coffee and snack, or lunch, particularly if you're on foot in downtown Tampa. Car-parking-wise, its in a tough spot. They have delicious coffees, and mochas, and lattes, and espresso, etc, etc. They also have huge cuban-bread breakfast sandwiches, muffins, granola, fresh fruit, and all sorts of morning treats. For lunch my favorite is the Bleu Moxx sandwich, with turkey, bacon, bleu cheese crumbles and cheddar on pumpernickel. I've always devoured any brownie, cookie, or other dessert I've gotten here too.

Moxie's is my favorite place to grab breakfast ! Lisa makes the best coffee!! Layla, Bob, and the entire staff are always fantastic! Very energetic, friendly and attentive. The most entertaining way to start your morning!

What a great place to eat! To start with Jen and Kenya are super nice and attentive. The sandwiches are delicious. I came by yesterday for the first time and I had to return to have the "uptown turkey club"... again! The ingredients are so fresh and tasty you want to come back for more! Thanks for the great food!!

I would give Moxie's 5 stars, however I have ventured downtown all the way from Pasco county only to find a sign in the door saying they were closed for the day. (During posted open for business hours) This has happened not once but twice. On a third occasion I was told they were out of bread for one of there signature sandwiches (hello! It's a sandwich place) Just too inconsistent. It's a shame because it can be great.

I've always wanted to try Moxie's but their hours never allowed that, so of course I was really excited to come in on a Saturday. They are open until 3p on Saturday now. They have limited outside seating which is great if you like to people watch. Their coffee selection is great! It's a cute, clean place with attentive staff. We ordered the French breakfast and salted Carmel french toast. Both were good but nothing special. It has a huge variety of food so it's easy for anyone to find something they are craving at the time. The prices are also affordable. Overall, it was decent food and good service yet super quick to the point that a person may feel rushed. I'd probably come back to try their salads or sandwiches.

Gluten free options! Good coffees, regular drip, and cafe con leche; my husband said his breakfast sandwich on pressed urban bread was tasty. A nice, easy walk from our downtown Tampa hotel, good fuel before the beach. Went on the suggestion of our bartender last night at Fly bar.

I'm a sandwich fan, and they've got it goin' on here. On a previous visit, I had the Old Broadway and I have two words for you: holy cannoli! Such a massive sandwich, I could only eat half (my husband proudly ate the other half, after eating a whole Old Broadway of his own..). Their Russian dressing is absolutely killer. Definitely a messy sandwich. Another visit I had the Moxie's Harvest Salad, and the "whole" size is gigantic (aren't you noticing a theme of "BIG" here?). Salads are super fresh and healthy. Adjusting to their huge portions, this time I got half of the Turkey in the Slaw and a side of potato salad. Sandwich was spot on- I love that the slaw isn't too mayo-ed, and has a light sweetness to it. Potato salad is good, just make sure to amp it up with some salt and pepper. I will definitely be back here, especially after drooling over their insane PB&J menu!

A quick, affordable place for lunch downtown. The menu is never ending, with peanut butter specials, assorted espressos, salads, and wraps; breakfast is served all day. I went during the lunch rush and the process and wait was rather painless. I had the turkey in the slaw, which is categorized under their "turkey specialties." Thick slices of turkey breast and melted Swiss cheese on Cuban bread and the house-made coleslaw. Rather simple sandwich, but the coleslaw was fantastic, not creamy, which I prefer. What I liked best about the sandwich was that there was enough turkey, cheese and slaw, which sounds a bit silly to say since the sandwich was huge (i.e.: lots of bread) but it was just proportioned well. I did not get a chance to try the coffee (already had my caffeine fix) which was a bummer!

I just walked into this establishment with two other people and not only were we not greeted but we walked up to the counter to view a menu and to our horror saw the exposed dirty back kitchen filled with paper towels on the floor and chips all over the floor ... Meanwhile there was a server in the back standing in this kitchen with his cell phone in his hand --not a care in the world for this dirty kitchen. I immediately walked out I have no desire to eat out of a dirty kitchen where employees have no concerns.

I've been to moxies several times but it has really gotten worse. If you're coming during your work day especially. It was 18 minutes between paying for my meal and getting it. I asked for no tomato and I got no tomato but also no cheese. Basically a piece of bread and ham. Tomato basil soup and baked goods are still good but the sandwich and service were terrible.

I'd really give this place 3.5 stars if it were possible. I only had the breakfast here, but the lunch options looked good. This place is more of a great coffee shop, that happens to serve breakfast food. The breakfast options sounded better than they actually tasted; the food seemed to be on par with what you could make at home rather quickly, nothing special or particularly memorable. However, the coffee options made up for the mediocre breakfast food.

This place is really awesome. I was so happy to find it during my short visit to Tampa. In a rare case when visiting a new town, I actually came back during the same short trip (I like to try out a bunch of places normally but the location and the quality drew me back). I didn't have a chance to try any of the regular lunch sandwiches, but the breakfast ones were fantastic. You have to try the one that combines Gyro meat, feta cheese and egg on top of pressed Cuban bread is so unique that I just drooled a little bit thinking of it. And they also had a Cuban toast thing where it is just the bread, butter and brown sugar, all warm and toasty. The warm cookies also made me (and my wife) happy. If you are ever in the downtown area this is the place to stop in for a bite to eat for breakfast or lunch.

Coffee was very good. Staff was very friendly and attentive and the building was nice and clean. Breakfast was so so. The croissant was the opposite of warm and flaky. Omlette was good as was the gyro breakfast sandwich, but the quiche was bland.

WOW. Once you've eaten a sandwich here, you can tell the difference between a sandwich maker and a master. Moxies is sovereign in the realm of sandwiches. Hands down this is one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The Cuban bread is straight-from-the-bakery fresh, with a fluffy soft center and perfectly crisped and toasted outside from the oven. The ingredients are all top quality. The flavors of the bread, cheese, sauce and veggies swirl like a whirlpool in your mouth and cascade across your tastebuds like an avalanche of savory goodness.. The variety of warm sandwiches, cold sandwiches, wraps and salad they have to offer here is impressive.

Moxie's Cafe is a healthy and reasonably priced breakfast/lunch option in downtown Tampa. Moxie's serves scrambled eggs, quiche, french toast, and omelette in the morning and sandwich, oatmeal, salad, wrap, soup, coffee, and dessert (usually cookies and brownies) all day until 4pm. I've tried their Santa Fe salad and their Gyro salad, and both were delicious! The Santa Fe salad was what I would usually call a southwestern chicken salad--a salad with grilled chicken, corn, tomato salsa, cheddar cheese, tortilla strips, and black beans--without the black beans. The ingredients were fresh. Also, I ordered a half-sized salad (only $5.89) which was enough for lunch. Their Gyro salad came with gyro, crumbled feta cheese, olives, tomato slices, and pepperoncini. I paid a dollar extra for pita bread. I remember thinking that the gyro could be better quality and that the restaurant shouldn't charge extra for the pita bread. Although I ordered the same half-sized salad, I was barely full even with the pita bread. But overall, I was happy with both salads. A friend swears by the Pear & Bleu Cheese salad--I plan to return to try this salad.

In town from San Diego...quick search turned up this awesome place. The girls were all very friendly and engaging to all the guests. A lot of locals come here because they all knew the customers by name. Food awesome great. Lovely (her name) gave a great recommendation for the Cuban coffee.

I love Moxie's salads, which is saying a lot for me as I usually won't eat salad at a restaurant. I'm very particular about salad dressing, can't be ordinary, and Moxies does not disappoint. I hear great things about their sandwiches, but if I'm there, I'm having a salad.

And just when I think they couldn't do things any better, they now serve Working Cow Ice Cream. Great food, great owners and staff and now Ice Cream. If you are downtown give them a try.

Stopped in to Moxie's for breakfast after search on Yelp for a good breakfast place near the Le Meridien Hotel. The Gyro breakfast sandwich had caught my eye during a look at their online menu, and that's what I ordered. Had already had 3 coffees so didn't order their highly touted cafe Cubano. Yo order at the counter and wait at a table for server to deliver. My sandwich was billed as "pressed " as in a panini press, but I seriously doubt It saw any press. It was warm, as if it had been heated in a toaster oven, but definitely not pressed. Fortunately, when I brought this to a servers attention they cheerfully repressed my sandwich. Still no ridges like I am used to see on a pressed sandwich. The flavors were good, but all in all, I thought they were average.

5 stars for their salads. I love that I can create my own and it doesn't cost me a whole lot. I got their soup of the day, Tuesdays is French Onion. Sadly by the time it arrived to my office the crouton was no longer visible and the cheese was no where to be found. The soup itself wasn't the typical salty goodness that I love, it was good, just not a favorite. Delivery downtown is free and quick.

There is no reason to eat at this place unless you work down town. It's not good enough to make a special trip to and have to deal with downtown parking. This place comes off as a wannabe Deli but is more in line with any generic chain sandwich shop such as Subway. Pros: Coffee is surprisingly good! Coffee is the only thing I can recommend here. Sandwiches are made right but the ingredients are low quality. Veggies are fresh but sometimes under ripe and not very flavorful. More exotic fruits, veg, and spices would be a welcome change. Cons: Place is kind of messy and run down but does look clean Menu is too large, they do everything ok but nothing great. They clam bread is baked fresh daily but I suspect only the Cuban bread is fresh and everything else is pre-sliced grocery store bread. Conclusion: Nothing here is horrible but none of it has that *spark* that could set it apart from all the others. Bland and flavorless seems to be the norm here. It reminds me a lot of cafeteria food. Still this place is good if you work down town and have no idea how to make a sandwich yourself at home and/or don't have the time to drive to someplace better. I really wish they used better quality ingredients and were more creative.

I wasn't too impressed with Moxie's. I got a hummus sandwich/wrap. It was mediocre. I also tried the 7 layer bar. I virtually never buy desserts, but the 7 layer bar looked fantastic. Unfortunately, it wasn't all that great. Don't get me wrong; it wasn't bad. I just wouldn't have bought it if I had been able to try a sample.

I really enjoyed Moxies. They are very close to 5 stars for me. Located in downtown they really know how to handle the lunch rush. The menu is extensive but every time I've gone I always end up with the Turkey in the Slaw- turkey breast on Cuban bread with coleslaw and cheese. It's amaze-balls. (I really hope that word catches on) You can order half of any sandwich and a side for 7.29. Sides include: fruit cup, slaw, chips, cookies. The salads also look really good. I hope to try one on a future visit. Also on the list: a selection from their peanut butter sandwich menu. Yes, they have a whole menu of peanut butter sandwiches. I think I may be in love. Don't you worry, I have tried the cookies. They are good. Carry on.

#1 definitely not a super cheap place. #2 Cuban by their definition is a baguette that was pressed up slightly. #3 asked for extra bacon... Well either they usually put only one strip of half cooked bacon or they forgot #4 good coffee #5 breakfast sandwiches don't come with chips or anything It's a $$ place with two star rating. Not sure how it has Soooooo many good reviews

I dined with three teens and all I of our sandwiches were fantastic. We got the Cuban, PB&J on wheat, BLT, and the Liberty Bell. Great place and wonderful staff. We will definitely be back the next time we are in town.

I did not enjoy eating here, I didn't feel welcome at all, when ordering our food we felt very rushed and the lady taking my order made us feel like we were bothering her as if it wasn't her job and over all not a very classy well mannered staff. After what felt like a lifetime a lady walked out and practically tossed our food at us and walked away without saying a word. They got my order wrong and served us water in plastic snack cups. My friend and I both agreed it was not a friendly and warm environment and would not be returning.

Incredible menu (including an all Peanut Butter menu!!). Service was timely, atmosphere perfect for a weekday lunch, and the food and smoothie were great. I ordered the Spinach salad with the vinaigrette with a "Wake Up Tampa Bay" smoothie. The smoothie was exceptional!

Eh, the sandwiches are pretty sloppy & every sandwich looks like it has coleslaw in it... If I come back, I may try a peanut butter and jelly sandwich... They have a verity of those.

Good coffee and great waffle. Would definitely go there again. So far the best place I've been to in downtown Tampa for coffee.

  • Evan D.

Great coffee, Lisa is always there to say hi. The best thing on their menu, IMO, is the harvest salad. All of their sandwiches are too good to pick just one. They have smoothies and awesome desserts too. Fast in and out for takeout or dine in is good too. Very consistent and always friendly.

  • Rachel H.

This is another one of my downtown favorites. They deliver (for a fee which is dumb but whatever) and they are consistently tasty. Their veggie sandwich is top notch and is FULL of grilled vegetables. They are always speedy and if I make the trek to pick up my sandwich (god forbid) it is done by the time I get there and the staff is always friendly regardless of whether they are slammed or not (and they usually are around lunchtime). And you must get cookies or their fabulous fresh breads. The pumpkin bread is baller. I think I got a piece of fresh pumpkin in my teeth from eating it, yeah people use fresh pumpkin sometimes. So so good. The only thing I've ordered that I did not love was a peanut butter and banana sandwich on sourdough which is pretty hard to mess up but it was a lot messier than it should have been with peanut butter all over the top of the bread. Also, the banana may have been too green to use as it was not very sweet. This is a pretty simple sandwich to make and for over $6 I guess I expected delicious. Serves me right for ordering a PB & B from a restaurant and being too lazy to get my butt to Publix and make one.

Delicious! They made my food to order and the friendly service put Moxie's over the top. The customer service and food combined make everything more than worthwhile. Highly recommended.

  • Jen R.

Food is excellent, only reason I do not give it 5 stars is because I felt it was a little pricey. Had the Ole Broadway and loved it even though I don't normally like coleslaw. Sandwich was literally heavy with how much stuff was packed on it and the slaw soaks into the bread making it extremely messy eating, but it was delicious . Would probably not go again just because of price, nothing to do with customer service .

  • Crankerella S.

I work for a large company downtown and the general consensus is that Moxie's Rocks. The salads are fresh and amazing, the sandwiches are unique and delicious. You're also doing yourself a terrible injustice if you do not try the frozen hot chocolate. It's amazing!

  • Phong D.

I think Moxie's deserves a 5-star review for being walking distance from the Hyatt, serving breakfast sandwhichs all day long, having free WiFi, and for keeping their prices low. I showed up starved and left stuffed. I couldn't finish the foot long ECHBE and had 6" of sandwhich left-over to eat 60 hours later. The foot long ECHBE is definitely the sandwhich to get if you're starved. It comes with eggs, cheese, ham, bacon, and more eggs. The portions were huge and this thing was meaty ! It was appropriately salty and the Cuban bread did a great job keeping everything contained. This beauty could be your's for only $6.79 (+ tax, we're not in Portland anymore). Next time I'm in Tampa, I'm totally getting the foot long ECHBE.

  • Brett N.

Why 5 stars? Because they have perfected the art of sandwich. --- --- --- What do you get when you combined a Cuban Sandwich with a Primanti Bros Sandwich? You get 5 stars. The Old Broadway marries the two together perfectly. Roast Beef, Turkey Breast, Swiss, Coleslaw and Russian Dressing. The latter being the rogue ingredient from a Corned Beef Reuben, completes this sandwich's dominance of your taste buds. It's also nice to have a array of side dish choices as well - Potato Salad, Pasta Salad, More Coleslaw, Chips or a Cookie. I will absolutely return to Moxies....many times. The only negative is parking - if you don't work downtown, I highly recommend avoiding lunch rush and increasing your chances of finding street parking. The nearby parking lot is a $5 minimum, while the street is $1.50 for 2 hours. Plus, I stepped in dog poop in that lot and will be forever biased against it for life. It was bad.

  • Amy D.

I heard so many people rave about this cafe and I work down the street so I thought I'd give it try. They raved about their tuna salad and had free wi-fi. I ordered the tuna salad and the chicken noodle soup and it was underwhelming. Both lacked any flavor to the point where I just left and went down the street to find a quick bite to eat elsewhere. Bummer to have even paid for it, it was not cheap.

Like something out of Manhattan, Moxie's brings fresh food fast. I thoroughly enjoyed my cold, crisp my Asian Ginger Chicken salad. Although there is not kid's menu, they will happily make any sandwich under the sun for your son or daughter.

AWESOME!!! Loved the gyro sandwich and the crescent city. Delivery guy was super nice and on time. I love the idea that when you check in you get a free medium coffee, great advertisement to get ppl in. Will return for sure.

Moxie's is fantastic. Their menu has variety, it's fresh and the staff is friendly and always ready to take your order. It gets slammed at lunch (to beat the crowd go at 11:30) but you can go online and place your order in advance, they also deliver for a small fee. If you like Tomato Bisque, hands down, their's is the best.

Since I started working downtown I have tried to become better acquainted with the downtown food scene. One of the first places I tried was Moxie's. By arriving at 12 I obviously arrived at the wrong time. The place was packed and it took about 20 minutes to order and receive the food. I ordered the Greek salad, which had generous amount of gyro and side of pita bread. It was the perfect sized salad and well worth the price. Soon I want to go and try their smoothies.

  • Amanda L.

Great lunch spot in downtown Tampa. I've only ordered their sandwiches, but they are absolutely delicious. Big too! I'm always able to eat one half, and save the other half for dinner... I admit I may also be leaving room for their delicious baked goods. Their toffee cookie is a little overly sweet, but everything else is a perfect way to end lunch. The place gets super packed during lunch, no matter the day of the week. I recommend ordering online, and then going straight up to the register to pick up your order!

  • Brad P.

I'm giving this cafe 5 stars because of the food, atmosphere, coffee and because of how much better it is than the other Cafe's in Tampa. Food - love it!! I had a couple of the breakfast sandwiches they offered and they were really good. They have a large selection to choose from, so this is a great place to go for breakfast. Atmosphere - with a couple small tables outside and a warm diner feel inside, it's great. Coffee - the coffee is a cross between a Starbucks and an espresso cafe. All their drinks have a heavy dose of frothed, foamy milk. Their best drinks are sweet and sugary and delicious and much better than Starbucks. However, If you want straight forward, quality espresso, this is NOT going to do it for you. I ordered a caramel macchiato and got a caramel latte instead. It was tasty, but not a true 'macchiato'. All in all, it was a fantastic place with a broad appeal.

Went with myself and two children. They have specialty PB&J's which is awesome for the kids! The sandwich was good. Lacked flavor. The atmosphere was awesome and the staff was very friendly towards myself and the children.

  • Elizabeth D.

Their coffee doesn't really tickle my taste buds as much but it's served up with a smile. Just don't expect a quick coffee run because they're usually busy. Turkey on the slaw is a great sammie! It's messy but it's very good. I'd return to try more lunch options but I'd rather go to Indigo around the corner for coffee.

Not "in Love." I've been here twice for two different turkey sandwiches and am not impressed. I had their regular turkey sandwich on Cuban bread before and it had limited turkey on it plus it just fell apart. Not much flavor at all. Today I had the Uptown Turkey for $7.99, and again, limited turkey, not much flavor and it just falls all apart in your hands. The wheat bread looked like it had been half sitting out and the crust was stale. Not impressed at all and not sure how people can "Love" the food here. For $7.99 I want LOTS of turkey on my turkey sandwich! My friends ordered the salads (Santa Fe/Harvest) and they said they were pretty good. Maybe I'll try the salads next time.

I went here for the first time yesterday, after finding it on Yelp. The restaurant and staff were nice but there was definitely something strange that I can't quite put my finger on. I wasn't sure what to get so I went with of their specialty sandwich The Old Broadway, and I wasn't impressed. The sandwich wasn't terrible, it just wasn't my taste. I will be back to try something else and hopefully I will be able to give it a few more stars

I came to Moxie's with every intention of having a healthy breakfast. And there I was, standing in front of their large menu board staring at the Cuban sandwich. It has been a few days since I had a Cuban, and my curiosity got the best of me. As I understand it, curiosity got the cat into a lot of trouble. It killed him actually. So here I was, staring at yet another Cuban. For breakfast nonetheless. It is one of the best ham and salami sandwiches I've had. I just couldn't see the pork. I'm guessing it was in there, I just couldn't see it. I thoroughly enjoyed the sandwich nonetheless. I made it a meal and added potato salad and a soft drink (yes, for breakfast). The potato salad I skipped though. It was very bland and didn't have any flavor at all. My wife had an egg white veggie omelette with a side of tomatoes. Look at the picture! Wow! It was beautiful and tasted great. They have a whole menu of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Very interesting. The breakfast sandwich combinations on Cuban bread are also very nice. The have a very nice selection of sandwiches, coffees, and smoothies. Makes me wish I had three stomachs. I am definitely declaring myself a fan of this place. The folks were friendly, what we ate was good (albeit not worthy of my best Cubans list, but good nonetheless), and the price was reasonable. I will most definitely be coming back and recommend this place highly.

I only gave them 2 stars because the cafe con leche was delicious... The breakfast on the other hand was crap, the bacon was definitely microwaved... If I wanted microwaved bacon I wouldn't leave my house, I mean there's a grill back there, use it. Potatoes were frozen and eggs were nasty. The lady working behind the counter was a sweetheart though ;)

I decided to try out Moxie's for lunch today. I went a bit after the lunch rush so I was the 3rd in line to place my order. It took me a while to decide what I wanted because everything looked so good. My order took about 10-15 minutes to be brought to my table. They have a few tables outside but most of the seating is indoors. Free Wi-Fi is available except during the hours of 11 am - 2pm (according to their sign). I opted for the combo deal for $6.99. I chose the Amore Sandwich and the Garden Salad with Vinaigrette. The Amore Sandwich was a pressed sandwich on cuban bread which came with thinly sliced roast beef, roast garlic, melted Provolone, Lettuce, and Tomato (I asked for no Mayo). The salad was a simple salad of romaine lettuce, peppers and tomato. The salad also came with some cuban bread. The viniagrette came in a large individual container which I liked because I could choose how much dressing to use. I ordered a large Cafe Con Leche in a ceramic mug since I was eating on the premises. They first forgot I had ordered a coffee so my food came sans coffee. It was remedied when I brought my receipt to the counter and they apologized and said they would make it right away. I had on idea how big the order would be but the cup of coffee was HUGE! The portion size of the sandwich was also very generous and I felt feeling very satisfied. The service was friendly. I'm definitely bringing the family back to try this place out. I love how they have fresh fruit smoothies and a list of different Peanut Butter Sandwiches!

Great spot for breakfast, lunch and espresso. Latte is spectacular. Food and staff were excellent. Plenty of room to relax. Ill be back for my next tampa trip. Unfortunately, the downtown location is nit the best, but the cafe is worth the trip.

My first visit to Moxie's was mid-morning yesterday. The breakfast rush was over, as there were two other people there. Apparently a lot of downtown office people phone in their order for later pickup. Order and pay at the counter when you come in, then you are given a number to slip on a holder on your table. The cashier/order-taker that appears to be in charge is so friendly to all, asking how my day is going and telling me about the weather A friendly waitress brought my Cuban breakfast in about five minutes. This is a long pressed flatbread with cheese, quite tasty. Should have ordered ham with it. Before that, another kind waitress had brought my coffee in a gigantic cup so heavy it was a chore to hold. This cup is as big as a soup bowl, definitely not for children as I envision a spilling mess. Front TV screen on one side, another screen alongside displaying local and Moxie's ads. Another TV screen in rear dining area. Coffee condiment stand to your left as you come in, resembling Starbucks. They are definitely doing something right here, an all-are-welcome atmosphere.

Oh, Moxie's!! I think about you. I miss you. Your pressed cubans, your unassuming ambiance, your tables stuffed as full as your sandwiches... There's nothing in Austin, TX that compares to you. I haven't yet forgiven myself for leaving you behind. Until we meet again, dear friend, until we meet again...

Always packed - which is a good sign :) Lunch in Downtown Tampa does not get any better. If you like croissants, try the Crescent City. It's amazing. Definitely my favorite Downtown Tampa lunch place!

Moxie's is a great place, good food, great staff!. I was staying nearby for a convention and found it for lunch on a Saturday. Selected the Toscana chicken sandwich with grilled chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, arugula and aioli on excellent cuban bread paired with homemade potato salad and it was delicious. They are a full fare coffee bar with great sandwiches, soups, etc...I highly recommend it!

In addition to great coffee options, Moxie's delivers great sandwiches and salads to the eager lunch crowds that queue up as early as 11:30 on random weekdays. Throw in some awesome desserts, and this place seems to have it all. Plus, they offer free wi-fi, perfect for when you find yourself in Downtown Tampa for work with a couple hours to kill. While street parking is abundantly available, don't hesitate to walk on over from whatever office building or conference room you may find yourself.

Excellent!!!!! Once again, Yelp to the rescue. We were looking for a solid breakfast and coffee before getting on the road. Needed WiFi seriously. Called ahead and confirmed the wifi. The food was very good to great. The atmosphere was large and welcoming. The service was 5 star with no false pretense. What put this in Happy Happy Joy Joy category was the Latte of the Day (not usually my speed but felt adventurous) Love Potion. OMG!!! Yes. Loved it. Sad there is no Moxie's in Miami. Will make this the go to place in Tampa. Thanks for the experience, you guys rock.

You really can't miss at Moxies! Everything from their sandwiches to their salads & their soups are absolutely phenomenal. Even their cookies are extraordinary! I've never been a fan of tomatoes, unless it was ketchup or marinara sauce, but their Tomato Basil soup made me a believer. This one in particular is pretty salty, but that might be why I love it so much. You might pay $1, or 2, more than you will for other sandwiches in the area, but it's completely worth it for the meal you get. All of my coworkers that come from out-of-state are taken there for lunch, and it's the first thing they think about when they come back. I think that the only thing I haven't tried here is their coffee... and I hear that's fantastic too! Seriously... my only complaint is that they're not open 7 days a week.

I love me some Moxie's! It's the perfect place to get a delicious salad. There's always those days where you want something healthy and delicious. This is the place to get it. The only bummer was that it was closed on the weekends, but now it's open! There is a great vibe there and the staff are super nice and friendly. They have salads, sandwiches and soups, the perfect lunch.

Working downtown I have plenty of options for breakfast. And yet somehow I always wind up at Moxie's. They have a lot of good choices but inevitably I order the same thing, the gyro breakfast sandwich. Gyro meat, feta cheese and egg on perfectly toasted cuban bread. The perfect hangover food! At lunch be sure and try one of their soups. And it's one of the few places in downtown where you can find a muffaletta sandwich.

I got the footlong ECHBE, just a large version of the ECHBE, and it was phenomenal. Fresh bread, delicious meat and the sandwich was steaming. Not hot, steaming the way you see food in commercials on tv. The only problem was it was too big to finish so I took half home. The staff are very nice and extremely friendly, ask them if they can put some tomatoes in the sandwich, it'll really set it off.

I had both breakfast and lunch at Moxie's Cafe. It's truly phenomenal and I strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a bite to eat downtown. Everything is freshly made. For breakfast most people were eating breakfast sandwhiches when I arrived, so I ordered one, too. It was the best breakfast sandwhich I've ever had! I got a HEC (I think Ham Egg and Cheese) and it came out fresh on Cuban bread. The egg was perfectly cooked, the ham was beautiful shaved slices of ham, the cheese was melted perfectly, and the Cuban bread....wow. It was just amazing. For coffee I suggest you get the Cafe con Leche. I ordered a large in a ceramic mug. Best coffee I've had in a long time. The beans are ground fresh to produce the coffee and the milk was amazing. The large is very large, at least if you order in. And to top it off the barista makes designs in the milk! Very cute. I noticed the oatmeal is quite amazing, with walnuts, dates, rasins...you name it! I strongly recommend the oatmeal if that's your thing. It's difficult to pass up on the breakfast sandwhiches, though. Really, the food is mouthwateringly good. When I returned for lunch I ordered more coffee and the barista made more designs. Lunch fare is more traditional with salads and wrap sandwhiches. The wraps are quite large and the salads are freshly made and also plentiful in portion. My salad came with a side of cuban bread. Delish! I must also comment on how nice the staff is. They are extremely friendly and caring, yet not intrusive. They brightened my day with a smile and they really seemed to care if I enjoyed my food, etc. Still, they weren't all in my business. It was perfect because I was trying to do work while in the shop. I also noticed that there are TON of regular customers. These people chat amicably with the restaurant staff. I strongly recommend this restaurant and I'm actually going to miss it most out of my recent trip to Tampa.

The food was excellent. I had the Reuben. My husband had the bull market. It is lent so our friend had the quiche and they were out of fresh fruit so they gave her a salad. She said both were very good. My husband and I both had half sandwiches and soup. Perfect. The reason I gave it a four is that our fourth person had tuna and he said nothing special. Lisa took very good care of us

They had me at "Chicago Italian Beef"... until I tried it. A true Chicago Italian Beef is my all time favorite sandwich and it is a simple yet delicious experience when done right. This was no Chicago style sandwich, I knew this when I told her I wanted it dipped and she said "but then it would be really soggy and wet". I almost died, that's what a Chicago style Italian beef is! It''s all about having a hearty bread that stands up to the dipping, soaks it all in, and is more than just broth and bread. It should be well seasoned and just when you hit the last bite, the greedy little piggy in you says wow, I could go for another one ( BUT you don't). Back to the point, what they served me should've been called a Cuban Dip. As a matter of fact, I'd be in love with it if you called it that instead, because that's what it was, a Cuban twist on a French Dip. It was good and I would eat it again but just don't tease my Chicago palette by calling it something it is not. So, when I come back and ask for a Cuban Dip, you'll know that's that crazy Chicagoan from yelp, Cuban Dip coming right up. Other than that, the Cuban and the Italian are good. I'll pass on the gyro wrap though, it was kind of gross and reminded me of the kits you can buy in the grocery store, you're actually better off making your own in that case.

I'm not sure why people are so crazy about this place. I mean.... it's alright but it basically just like a Panera Bread for just sandwiches. I will say that I haven't tried their PB & Js which seem interesting, so maybe that's what I'm missing. Last time I was their it was noon on a Tuesday- a prime time for lunch. The service wasn't great. Not because they weren't trying, but because there was a catering order which everyone seemed focused on, rather than the 3 customers standing in line (not counting me). It just seemed like they needed another helping hand. I tried their 'famous' chili, but it was served luke warm and I kindly asked for it to be reheated. It was, but when I got it, it just wasn't that awesome. Too many beans! Sandwich was good but it was missing my onions. And I dig on some onions! Eh, I don't think much of this place. I mean, it's not horrible but it's not spectacular like everyone else on Yelp is saying. I'm confused. And FYI, this isn't the only visit. I've been before and it just hasn't been anything special.

We always cater from here when we work though lunch and I love it! The tomato basil soup is super tasty and the sandwiches and wrap are very good, too. We've never had an order mix up and the food is always good and fresh. Basically, Moxies rocks. :)

Disappointed based on other reviews. The eggs on my sandwich were MICROWAVED! There's no good reason for a neighborhood breakfast place to do that. Service and atmosphere were mediocre at best. I wouldn't go again.

I have eaten here three days in a row since starting my new job in downtown Tampa. Considering the lunch rush that comes in this place they do a great job of getting everyone's order quickly and getting them out of there in time to get back to work. I walk five blocks to get there on a one hour lunch break and after ordering, sitting and eating I am routinely back in the office with approximately 10 minutes to spare. The food has been very good all three times and the staff, while always in a frenzy to ensure their customers get served quickly, are to the point but generally friendly about it. I know I need to explore downtown Tampa a little, but it's going to be hard to break my Moxie's habit. If you stop in for lunch try to get there a little before noon. I recommend the Crescent City Sandwich and their potato salad isn't bad either. If you work downtown they do cater and deliver.

I use to love to come here at Moxies for lunch, bunch you name it. always have the same thing a turkey sandwich and before some how i wasn't a big fan and so i never went back. until now i finally tried it again like a few days ago for lunch. I tried the delivery for a small fee, I had a coupon for signing up and ordering online too. had the turkey sandwich and the cole slaw and some bakery goodies. The sandwich was delicious, again the sandwich was delicious, alone with my sweets there were still hot out of the oven.My salad was also good. I kinda upset with myself for writting this place off because of my first visit which was not good. but because i like to give second chances. And they definitely came and surprise me. and now i will be back whenever I'm in the area.Oh before i forgets the delivery was quick or maybe because i was hungry lol.

I had a great breakfast here recently. The staff was wonderfully amiable despite being a man-short for the Saturday morning rush. My espresso was good and the pull itself was fantastic. I had the ECH (Egg, ham & cheese pressed inside buttered Cuban bread) which was flaky on the exterior thanks to the toasting and quite good. Incidentally, I would recommend a slightly sweeter coffee to go with this sandwich rather than a straight espresso. They also have a selection of baked goods and smoothies if you prefer a less heavy breakfast. Reason for the 4 star review: A truly 5 star location would use an extremely high quality cheese on a sandwich like this and counter-balance the fats in the eggs and ham and cheese with bitter greens and vinaigrette. Reasons you will enjoy it like a 5 star location: Great staff Wonderfully convenient location Great pricing Fast service Great food for the area

Moxie's was just what the doctor ordered. Solid joint. Not sure how busy they get at lunchtime during the week. I suspect they fill up fast. Was there on a holiday weekday so it wasn't that busy. Service was attentive and very friendly. They have a rule about wifi usage during the high lunch hours which I can't say is a bad thing. This is a business that relies on table availability to stay in biz. A web surfer taking up a table means lost revenue. So I don't have a problem with that. On the day I was there, they didn't seem too concerned about it though. Be considerate people. The wifi is free but they still need to make a buck.

Please note, this is just a take out review. I eat at Moxie's 3 or 4 times a month on a dine in basis and have a 4 star experience. At this point I really only order the salads because I'm in a 'no or very little' bread phase that eliminates a lot of their menu. But their sandwiches are great and the people are very friendly. Today I had a tight window and really wanted my favorite salad. I called around 11:35 when I knew they would be light. The person took my order and name, said 15 minutes and that was that. I was surprised about the 15 minute wait, but didn't quibble. I gave them an extra 5 minutes, showed up at 11:55 and saw my/their first problem. The restaurant was half empty but the rush was starting and I saw 5 people in front of me in line. Now I could have cut to the front, but they only have 1 cash register and I had no idea if any of the 5 people had the same situation, ie. ordered ahead of time. So I did the polite thing and waited another 4-5 minutes while they took the other orders. I get to the front of the line and tell them I ordered ahead. The person knows me, looks puzzled b/c she has one take out order but it is in a large bag and clearly not mine. She goes back to check. Nothing. The person at the register seems to want me to just disappear or get over to the side so she can handle other business. I sort of understand and wait another 2 minutes. Now the first person comes out and says, "we never got the order". Personally, the choice of words is irritating because I clearly called so to suggest they didn't is semantically wrong. Admit that your kitchen screwed up. Perhaps offer me a drink while I wait because of the inconvenience. That didn't happen Bottom line is when she told me she could make the salad up for me, I just said 'no' and walked out. I gave them more than enough time and left. A bit mad and admittedly cutting off my nose to spite my face. I know of another place that does not make salads, but gets you in and out in lightning speed. They didn't disappoint and so they got my business. Again, I love Moxies and am sure this was a rare mistake, but they really do need to perfect their take out experience. They may need a separate line or some sort of signage for take out because at any time you can come in there and have a line almost to the door. It isn't my style to just jump a line so if the restaurant can't figure it out, then they aren't going to get my business. And I know they deliver, but its usually a minimum charge and quite frankly I like getting out of the office to walk, even for a few minutes. Moxie's is in my penalty box, but I will definitely see them again after they have served their time.

The only reason Moxie's doesn't get 5 starts is because of their hours. I would love to pick up a sandwich when getting out of work, and I would go almost every weekend if they were open. Also, the lunch rush is not particularly enjoyable, but local bigshots are always there, so you can network as you push through the crowd. Breakfasts are awesome. Their iced coffee is a six-shot americano on ice for half the price you would pay at starbucks, and Moxie's is better. Be sure to try the pasta salad. Being from the midwest, I am unfamiliar with this spicy, cheesy iteration that seems to be a Tampa thing, but it is great. The salads and sandwiches are all high-quality. As good of meats and as creative of toppings as you can get for $8 in the business district. Stop in at 11, before the rush, get an italian combo with pasta salad and a sweet tea, and enjoy watching federal judges and bank execs fight for the remaining seats.

Great place for lunch in downtown Tampa. 2 tables outside so we could bring our dog. I love the 1/2 combo for almost any sandwich. I had the 1/2 Caesar and 1/2 Turkey in the slaw sandwich. Yum. You order inside and they bring your food to your table. The service is good and they are very accomodating. Our only concern was there was no pesto on my husband's italian sandwich. But he didn't complain until the last bite so it couldn't have been that bad. Oh, they ran out of unsweetened tea and so they gave him a free lemonade. He was appreciative but really wanted unsweet tea.

Well, for a downtown eatery I actually enjoyed it. A buddy of mine and I met here for lunch so I am basing my review on what I ate and what I saw. The place was packed for lunch and my buddy told me that this was normal. They have a super deli type menu with plenty of sandwiches and soups etc. We both had the Southwestern Salad and I have to say that it was great. There is normally a long line so make sure you have angry birds on your phone before you get in line but its worth the wait.

Quality soups and sandwiches !!! Again another downtown lunch spot we frequent. Huge lines that move very quickly and the employees even take your order in line so its ready by the time you pay. I always try things i wouldnt eat to see how a place prepares their food. Kind of stepping outside of my food box =D So here i ordered a tomato soup and was shocked that i not only liked but loved it. Great specials and very good quality coupled with frendly service.

I made the mistake of getting the pumpkin spice latte. Found out I'm not a fan of pumpkin with coffee! Not their fault, I failed to ask. I think the reaction fron the customer service girl should have made me rethink my choice. Nice latte art in a ceramic mug though, and the cinnamon roll was very good (not too big; not too small). The atmosphere is cafeteria though, not coffee shop.

All around Moxie's is a great breakfast and lunch cafe that I've been eating at 2-3 time a week, and haven't been disappointed yet. Salads are good sized and full of fresh greens and ingredients. Sandwiches are on pressed Cuban bread and always hit the spot. And on top of all that they serve good coffee. With all that said best casual spot in downtown Tampa.

    (5)
  • Amy R.

Their Italian sandwich is the best I've found downtown. Tried breakfast. It was good, but I was thrown off by the portions. A large serving of eggs and potatoes and a small amount of bacon. I would have given back half of the eggs and potatoes for more bacon. I left a lot of food on my plate when I left. Will definitely go back for lunch...their sandwiches rock! The atmosphere is great and the staff is super friendly. Very impressed with the lady that knew the name of just about every customer that walked through the door!

As a visitor to downtown Tampa, I walked down the street and saw that Moxie's was packed with a big lunchtime crowd. I took this as a good sign, and I am glad I went in. I had one of the best salads I've ever had. For just over $5, I got a delicious harvest salad with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, walnuts, apples and really really good croutons. My salad came with a delicious slice of soft bread with a crusty crust. Even though it was packed, it looked like they had a dozen or so crew members building people's lunches, and a woman took my order while I was waiting in the line to pay, so it was very efficient. Looks like this place serves coffees, smoothies, salads and sandwiches. If they're all as high-quality as the salad I ordered, I can see why the crowd was so large.

Doesn't get any better than Moxie's. I have been here a few times and I am very impressed. The Olde Broadway sandwich is filled with meat, cheese, dressing, and cole slaw. It is a very generous sandwich and is incredibly good. The espresso drinks are made the right way and are better than other downtown Tampa places. I am a huge sandwich fan and am a huge fan of Moxie's.
