I visited while in the sawgrass area (based on yelp reviews of course) and im extremely glad i choose this place. I was in between this place and another breakfast joint nearby. The omeletes where phenomenal. They have a huge selection and its hard to just pick one. i went with the long island omelete and swapped the broccolli for spinach and couldnt have left any happier. my omelet was cheesy and full of bacon and flavor. WARNING omeletes are huge! i thought it was impossible to finish one entirely but i couldnt stop eating it. i was already so full but i knew i wouldnt be in this area again any time soon so i just couldnt leave it there. who knew that ricotta cheese in an omelete would be so delicious. Service was your typical mom and pop shop like, ladies with a smile on their face ready to take your order and bring you coffee at all times. i hate when my coffee gets cold and they would come by very frequent to fill you up. The place does get crowded so there might be a wait at times but totally worth it. Overall great food, excellent service and cheap prices. I really cant wait to find an excuse to go to sawgrass to have breakfast here.

So after an intense workout, I needed a serious breakfast and I didn't want to cook so I consulted Yelp to see what was near and what had good reviews. Long Island Cafe had great reviews and when I read another reviewer say that they had a great Greek omelet, I headed there immediately. The place is quaint but clean and busy. I waited just a few minutes for a table. They had 3 young boys helping with drinks, bussing, etc. I was impressed - it's important to teach responsibility young and the restaurant industry is a great way to go about it. I ordered the Greek omelet which comes with home fries and toast. I also had a coffee, which was refilled. The omelet was HUGE and tasty. Unfortunately, they ran out of whole wheat toast so I skipped bread all together. The waitress and kids checked on me several times but not in an annoying way. I would definitely go back and try something else. It seems like they have "regulars" and it's the local coffee shop that delivers good food and service alike.

Nice, but nothing to write home about. If the food were as good as the service, I'd be back every week. The service was good enough that I've giving them a whole extra point. A tip for cooks: if you're making an omelet with vegetables, make sure you pre-cook the vegetables to get rid of excess water. Roasting at a low temperature works well, but you can sweat them by adding a little salt in a pan and cooking them over a low flame.

Came for brunch on Sunday after reading other reviews. As expected, they had a list going due to the amount of people coming in....which is a good sign. Ordered eggs, potatoes, bacon, toast for less than 5. Added a pancake and orange juice to compliment. The service was fast and friendly. More than enough portions to satisfy. I wouldnt have noticed the location if it wasnt for the yelp reviews....and it is less than a mile from my house! I recommend this place for Sunday Brunch...very affordable..food is prepared well and serive is friendly.

Small & clean little dinner. Ordered the vegetable omelet which was fresh, hot and loaded with tons of vegetables. I opted for a side of wheat toast and oatmeal. If you are looking for good home cooked breakfast you must try this place. I will definitely be back.

Once in a while you get lucky to find a place that is memorable. Long Island Cafe is one of those places. This is not a fancy place - neither on decor or food - however the quality of both food and service is superior. Long Island Cafe is a small family business that specializes on breakfast, lunch and brunch. It has creative omelettes, a solid breakfast selection with eggs, bacon, pancakes and everything that goes with it. However the magic for me happens with soup. Chef Johnny is not just talented. He has a gift. Every day he prepares a selection from three to five soups, and they are all amazing. From the Caribbean soup to the Chicken Vegetable Barley, his soups are so legendary and packed with flavor that became a local legend. I once went for breakfast on a Sunday morning just to witness a patron having a bowl of chicken soup at 8 in the morning. I can't blame him. They are just that magical. The Lunch menu is also terrific. Don't get me wrong... Entrees like the Chicken Fried Chicken or the French Dip sandwich as as good as it gets, but it got to a point where I once had a cup or his soups before my meal, and end up simply ordering two more cups of different soups just because I knew nothing would make me happier than just more of that stuff. You know a place is special when you keep craving it later the day... When you take you friends there just so they can experience that place. I miss it when Im away from too long, and feel welcome and like home when I go back. And that's when you know you found a special place...

We were in the area looking for a good breakfast and brunch place and this cafe looked promising from the Yelp reviews and online photos of the omelets. Great value and super friendly service! We walked in and sat ourselves at a comfy booth. The waitress promptly came to our table to bring us menus and ask for our drink order. Just black coffee and tea here (no fancy espresso drinks) but that's okay - I didn't need a jolt as I'm in vacation :) We ordered the Super Breakfast and the 2 eggs and Corned Beef Hash. The "Super Breakfast" comes with 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon or sausage, choice of oatmeal, potatoes, tomato slices, or grits, AND bagel, bialy, toast or English muffin - all for only $4.50!! I ordered sunny side up eggs with bacon, potatoes, and an English muffin. Everything was perfectly cooked - crisp bacon, potatoes with crispy edges and onions just the way I like them! My husband's scrambled eggs were excellent and the oatmeal was hearty and served with brown sugar. The only disappointment was that the corned beef was the minced kind with a somewhat watery consistency - so I don't recommend this dish unless that's how you like your hash. Otherwise, everything was great and so much better than one of those breakfast chain diners. Personally, I'd rather support a family run business. The waitress (who I believe is one of the owners) is from Long Island and provided us with super helpful tips about places to visit during our vacation.

Our great freinds have joined us for Saturday breakfast about once a month for years here, and we have never had less than a wonderful meal. There is a very large variety plus daily specials, and anything to suit your palate. It's a medium-sized family operation that is homey, comfortable and the freindlest around. The omelets are my clear favorite: the Greek, Italian, Spanish, spinach, veggie, meat-lovers and every other choice all rock! The portions are LARGE and service is premiere. Excellent all around!

They get pretty packed on weekends for brunch, but I managed to snag a table. We just had to wait a few minutes for it to be cleaned, no biggie. The problem was I don't think the kitchen can accomodate such a big crowd, because it took a really long time to get our omelette and eggs. I would have liked it if they gave the bagels before the meal instead of with it, so at least you have something to munch on while you wait. The omelettes here are HUGE and delicious. The meatlovers omelette has bacon, sausage, pepperoni, ham, literally every meat they can think of. I would highly recommend it. The home fries were disappointing. They were not crispy and had zero flavor even though it is cooked with onions. Service was extremely friendly despite being busy. I probably would come back if I was craving a good omellete, but this place is really nothing special.

We only come for breakfast so this is reviewing bkfst only. Omelettes are off the chain! Real good stuff, real tasty, fresh ingredients, some organic! Garlic lovers rejoice! It's hard to find a place that knows how to properly cook with garlic -- this place cooks in the Italian tradition where the taste is flavorful but not overpowering. You should 100% order off the "Creative" menu - the stuff there is all amazing! I've basically gone thru most of it and I can't say there has been anything I wouldn't order again, and again, and again! The only reason I change it up is to explore the rest. My current favorite is The Italian. This place is one of a kind - a real gem! Service is amazing, it's a mom and pop, and kids place! Their kids help out bussing sometimes and it's really great to see! They're really from Long Island, I'm from NYC so I feel at home here!

First off, great and affordable prices. 2 breakfasts for about $10. The server was very friendly. parking was easy. Eggs, bacon/sausage, homefries, toast for less than $5! Cooked to perfection!

My wife and I have been meeting friends for breakfast every Saturday morning for the past two years. Small family run place that gives you great value for the money paid. In my two years of experience the food has always been hot and freshly cooked using fresh ingredients. The S1 breakfast is an especially good value. The coffee isnalways hotnand freshly brewed. On Saturday mornings if you get there at or before 8:00 AM you will be served quickly and efficiently. After 8:00 it starts to get crowded and additional staff don't arrive until 8:30 - 8:45. Not as big as Angie's Cafe around the corner but a better value.

This place was heaven. Cute little spot for a comfy delicious meal. They serve breakfast all day and have lunch! The breakfast sandwiches were yummy! And service was great!

The food here is fairly standard diner cuisine. Although, I must admit that the Rockefeller chicken was surprisingly tasty, and I would recommend ordering it should you decide to dine here. I had a bacon, sausage, cheese, and egg breakfast sandwich. It was a perfectly acceptable version of a breakfast sandwich, but it was what it was. Prices are good here as is the service. Definitely has the feel of an old school diner. I am not an expert on all things Long Island, but my wife was born and raised there and she says it had a similar feel to some of the diners back home, although not quite as amazing (of course)...

This place has very good breakfast and they make my scrambled eggs right! The soup is good too! The prices are very affordable as we spend no more than $25 every Sunday. Small and intimate...love it.

Ya ever been so impressed with a place, that you hesitate to review it because you're afraid it will make the wait for a table even longer? This is an outstanding breakfast place that gives you extraordinary value. Incredibly affordable, pleasant staff, well executed food (particularly breakfast) it's the total package for a breakfast joint.. I know that reviews like this mean I will be waiting even longer for a table on weekends but when you find a place dedicated to well executed food, pleasant service and extremely affordable prices....well businesses like that deserve to be rewarded.

Was not pleased. Was hoping for good service, but apparently I aimed too high. The service was very dry and slow. At no point were we offered any water during our breakfast. One third of my home potatoes were completely burned. And even though the burnt, left-behind pile of potatoes were so evident on my plate, at no point in time did the waitress even bother to ask how the meal went. First and last time.

I can't believe I haven't been here before. The cafe is a hidden gem. It is clean, the ladies are attentive and the food is great. My husband had the meat lovers omelet and it was packed full of meat. Prices are reasonable. We will be back....

I am new to the area and had been looking for a little place close to home to go to breakfast every morning, with a dear family member of mine who loves grits. If a place does not have grits for breakfast, we do not go. I found this fabulous place about a month ago, and now we go every morning to breakfast. Grits is hardly ever ordered anymore, due to the variety of home-cooked foods offered on the menu. The atmosphere is very family oriented, as the cafe is family owned. If you have not tried this place, it truly is the best place in town!

Overall very enjoyable but not worth a special trip. Not the easiest location to find in a kind of dead-zone strip mall near the corner of Oakland Park Blvd, but we found it. The decor is super 1980's diner style. Very clean and efficient and box-shaped, with maybe 8-10 booths and 5-6 regular tables. Super friendly waitress! A good selection of breakfast omelettes, pancakes, bagels and the usual options (we were there for breakfast, obvs). I got a 2-2-2 which is 2 each of eggs, bacon or sausage and pancakes or french toast, and added some home fries on the side. He got a frittata omelette (lots of veggies basically). Everything was pretty good though the home fries were a bit greasy and not crispy enough for our liking.

We eat here regularly, as the place is only about 2 blocks from our home. The food is always fresh and yummy. The service is incredible. I highly recommend that anyone looking for quality food at reasonable prices try this place out! You won't regret it!

I am such a fan of this place. There breakfast and lunch are very good but the soups are always to die for! From the Tomato Eggplant Basil to the Chicken & Grits...I am in love with all their creations! This is a must stop place for breakfast and lunch.

I'm not a big breakfast fan, but I immediately become one, foam finger and all, the moment I enter this establishment. The two hardworking ladies who usually sit us and serve us are wonderful. The food is always fresh and delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. The only thing I suggest is that when we initially get there, it takes a bit to get seated 'cause it can get pretty busy for the ladies who work there, so it would be great if they had another person to help them set tables and sit people. Otherwise, no complaints here!

We've been here many times, never a bad food experience. The Long Island Special omelet is fabulous, very cheesy. My husband always gets the "meat lovers" omelet & it's definitely full of meat. I recommend this place all the time.

This lovely cafe is tucked into a strip mall, it is small, houses about 12 booths and 4 tables. It is run by a family from, you guess it, Long Island. There was a sign out front that listed the specials for the day. We came at 11:30 AM on a Saturday and waited about 15-20 minutes for our table. We were seated promptly and coffeed and milked we ordered came quickly, as did our meals. The omelettes were fresh and huge! They weren't bland at all. Bursting with flavor from the fresh ingredients and herbs. I ordered the french toast, which were amazing. I love french toast where you can see the egg batter on the bread. They were egg battered and cinnamon swirly! Great little mom and pop shop! Great food, great service, and a cheap price tag to boot. Definitely a fan and if I ever find myself in South Florida again, I will be back!

Love this hidden gem. Home to delicious, inexpensive, homemade food. The omelettes are large and fresh-- you will definitely have leftovers. Cozy atmosphere, family owned, and fills up quick on weekend mornings. The French toast is not recommended. Best little breakfast spot in west sunrise area.

The best omelet ever! I will definitely comeback. I only part that I did not like was the bagels. Its still deserve a five star. I had the Greek omelet, it will be difficult to order anything elese next time.

One of my favorite places for breakfast in the area. There is never a long wait like some of the other places and the food is good. I absolutely love the omelettes here. They are huge and filling. My favorite omelette has every type of meat imaginable. Pepperoni, check, ham, check, bacon, check, sausage, check. Plus home fries and a bagel. That is a breakfast for champion! Service is also very friendly.

So whenever I'm in a breakfast place, or any restaurant for that matter - I always try to pick the item that I'm least likely to make in my kitchen, whether its too complicated, time consuming or due to rarity of ingredients. That being said, I would never go order an omelette. Well, with all the reviews highly emphasizing the omelette being a staple in that diner, I had to try it. I went in on a weekday at 10:30 am. Seemed like most of the patrons were locals. Was instantly greeted and seated. I ordered OJ that came out fresh, and I picked out one of the specials listed outside on the board which was the spinach omelette. I also read about the size of those things so I opted for sliced tomato as a side and no bread. I was served within 10 minutes and dove in, only looking up once to answer the server checking on me. How can something so simple taste so incredibly delicious. The omelette was fluffy and light, yet the ingredients were tasty and rich with deep flavors. I think it had goat cheese, sundried tomatoes, bacon, grilled onions and tons of spinach of course! The omelette was $8.95. Juice was $3. Yes I'm going back for their famous greek omelette. Go get yours!

Love it here. I'm a former New Yorker living in south Florida. This diner takes me back to my favorite diners up north. The menu is diverse. Food is delicious and reasonably priced. The ambiance could use some updating but with great food, who cares. Great place to take out of town guests or visit for a quick bite. I'll definitely be back!

Love this place! Our family is regulars here for breakfast on the weekends. It is small so many times there is a short wait. The food is always great & our orders are always correct. It takes a little longer for the food to come out because of the small kitchen & staff, but it's worth it. Don't go here if you are in a hurry, that's all. The owner is always there waiting the tables and her middle school aged kids are often times there helping out. They all do a great job. It's very clean.

Met up with friends for brunch! Great place. The omelet I had (Florentine mushroom)was amazing & highly recommend their bialys! Hadn't had one since I moved from NYC! Service was terrific... very attentive. All 9 of us left very full and satisfied.

This place is a little hard to find but don't let that or the strip mall fool you. We just had breakfast here and it was amazing. Everything fresh and made exactly as we wanted. As New Yorkers we are picky about lox and it was spot on. My veggie omelet was perfect. Not greasy at all We didn't have sandwiches but I saw a few come out and can't wait to come back for lunch! Definitely coming back when we are in Florida!

What a nice change...excellent food, almost too much. Took Dad and husband for breakfast. Two omlettes and sunny side up eggs, oatmeal, hash browns, coffee,,,very full. Only comment, just 2 waitresses for a whole restaurant. They later told us they were short staffed. So, we will be back.....GO

Went for breakfast with my wife. Both omeletts were huge and tasty! She had the corned beef hash omelette which had corned beef hash, cream cheese and cheddar cheese inside. She chose grits as the side and added cheese to that as we'll. Rye toast (I like that they asked if she wanted it buttered or not.). I had the spinach omelette special with bacon, onions, spinach, sun dried tomatoes, and goat cheese inside. Side of home fries and wheat toast. Potatoes were really good and the toast was just ok. We waited for a seat and the food took about 25 min, but what do you expect at noon on a Sunday? Will definitely be returning!!

Went here for breakfast this morning. Place wasn't crowded. This is a seat yourself type of place. Once I sat down the waitress who I believe is the owner quickly brought me a menu and asked for my drink order which she brought right away anf asked if I was ready to order which I was. I ordered the hash omelet woth home fries amd an et bagel. The food came out quickly and was very good except for the bagel which was very chew and doughy. All in all a noce place to eat would definitely go back

Great local place with attentive service and very reasonable prices. Not a ton of seating do if it's a busy time, it will probably fill up quickly but I didn't have to wait when I came in. Great spot to go if you are from out of town as well. They serve breakfast all day in addition to lunch etc...

When you wake up at noon and still want to enjoy breakfast like mom made it, head to The Long Island Café. From the Everything bagels covered in deliciousness to the glass - tall sandwiches, there's nothing here that doesn't taste like it didn't have Chef Johnny's love and soul poured into it. The atmosphere is quaint and quiet, not like you'd find at larger resturants. Make sure this place is on your list of Breakfast Spots in the Sunrise area.

Ordinary. Mini-diner with good service but average food. The french toast was a little soggy and quite average. No real maple syrup to be had here. Even the chocolate milk was mediocre.

  • Mariane Q.

I agree with nearly every other review here. The place is a bit of a hole-in-the-wall, nice enough but not at all fancy (fine by me!). What is important is the food. As a side to our breakfasts, I ordered eggs over-hard, while my boyfriend ordered them over-easy (Our usual at any diner). NEVER before have we both had them delivered so perfectly. So even something as seemingly simple as this is worth writing a review about. Mine were cooked all the way through without being burnt; his had fully cooked whites with runny yolks, as they should be. Both were appropriately hot and neither were greasy, the way most diner eggs are. I take this as evidence that the cooks actually know what they're doing. Of course, everything else we ordered was delicious too. Loved it.

Not just for breakfast. Don't get me wrong they serve a great breakfast but I really go for the Homemade Soups! The best soup I have ever had at a restaurant. Homemade and delicious! The service is impeccable, the steak burgers are yummy and the salads are fresh. Just a few blocks from my office so the whole office goes there at least once a week.

The food was ok.The bad part was the waitress who apparently is an owner. She scolded my mother for not eating her bun an told her it was a waste of food. Then she made a comment to not get her furniture dirty because it's not fully paid for yet. When I go out to eat I prefer an atmosphere where I do to have to worry about getting yelled at like a child.

I love the Long Island Cafe! It has everything you'd want in a diner: varied menu, local atmosphere, friendly service, and a cozy interior. I can't tell you how often I've passed this place without giving it a second glance. You see a strip mall and a random, oddly-named diner and think "meh" and just keep going. Thankfully, curiosity got the better of me and I turned to Yelp and found all the glowing reviews. They were right! I've been here for both breakfast and lunch many times, and each visit has been great. If you're here for lunch, any of the sandwiches are a good bet. I love the club sandwiches: they're piled high on a ciabatta bread and very tasty. The soups are homemade daily, and our family friends couldn't stop raving about how tasty they were. But, let's get down to brass tacks. The reason anybody really goes to a diner is for breakfast, glorious breakfast, any time of the day. The pancakes from here are some of my favorites: light, fluffy, and the size of frisbees. Douse them in butter and syrup and you have heaven on a plate. If you're a pancake connoisseur like myself, give the banana walnut pancakes a try. They are to die for! Fresh bananas, tons of walnuts - these pancakes are in a class by themselves. The real gem of this place, though, has to be the breakfast omelettes. They're all so creative, use the freshest ingredients, and they're absolutely humongous. Full disclosure: I'm not the biggest fan of omelettes (I'm a pancakes girl to the end, honestly), but I would happily eat the omelettes here any day. The Greek omelette is my favorite. You smell it before you see it: liberally spiced with oregano, and stuffed with tomato, spinach, and feta. It's more than a meal itself, and when you pair it with a side and a bagel, I can barely finish it. I've also tried the hash omelette and meat lover's, and both were tasty and very generous in the fillings department. In the hash omelette, they add cream cheese, which was an unexpected touch and made the omelette deliciously rich and creamy. Now, about the service. The waitress, Carol, is one of the owners and she does a great job. I don't care how busy it is, she's always smiling, friendly, and efficient. This is one of those places where they know their customers by name and truly appreciate their business. I like that. Finally, the chef here is extremely creative and you can tell he takes a lot of pride in his food. Any diner or deli could crank out the usual dishes and still do a decent business, but the ever-changing specials and unique dishes are what makes Long Island special. The selection here takes diner food up a notch, and it's great quality. What are you waiting for? Ditch Denny's and head to Long Island! It's breakfast and diner heaven.

We ordered the turkey rueben with french fries and a chicken salad melt with potato salad. I thought the food here was pretty good but I think the inside of the place is filthy. I cant deal with the dust even if its not necessarily on the table area. Sorry, can't go back :-/

Hands down the best restaurant I have ever been for breakfast in my entire life. Everything from their frittata omelet, to their corn beef hash, to their mouth watering chocolate chip pancakes... Makes it seem as if there's a party in your mouth after each bite. It's an authentic mom and pop place, and they always make you feel at home when you dine. The amazing food is just a plus to what you'll experience upon entering this establishment

I've often driven past the plaza this establishment is located in. I would always crack jokes and ask my best friends from L.I about "Lawn Guyland" specialties, even they thought that the name was silly. The plaza isn't really a happening place. It's very quiet and I've only been there a handful of times to get some items from the Filipino Store a few doors down. I was up early, about 8 am (Oh yes, 8 am is early for me. I'm a buttcrack of noon kinda gal), running errands and enjoying my Thursday. At about 10 am, I was on the road and starving. Low and behold, the Long Island Cafe was in my view and I decided to check it out. I was quickly greeted by a super friendly woman. The cafe is very casual, decor makes it feel homey. The menu has a variety of Breakfast and Lunch entrees. I was missing Philly, so I decided to get the Philly Omelette. I felt like I was setting them up for failure because I'm really picky about anything Philly or Italian related. Much to my surprise, it was delicious and I'm not even a breakfast person. I was a bit embarrassed because I was all by myself and devoured my plate. The Omelette was huge and there was a nice portion of home fries on my plate. A couple of people were also eating while I was there and everything on their tables looked great. I also noticed that the phone rang nonstop. People ordered Take Out and would come by to pick up. This is truly a happening place..who would have thought? Last week, I called in an order for the Greek Omelette for Take Out. I didn't want to look like a lonely loser who scarfed down their food again. So far, the Greek is my favorite. The veggies were so fresh and I love the Feta that they used. I'm not done yet...... I went in a few days ago and tried their Neo. It's Nova w/ scrambled eggs and it's delicious! I'm surprised I've been here 3 times in a week and a half. I get so annoyed with people who eat at the same places all the time. Everyone is so friendly, the food has always been delicious and the prices are reasonable. They've won me over and made me love Breakfast. They're open 7 days a week from 6:30 am- 3 pm.

This is a favorite lunch or breakfast spot for all of my family. The location is easy to access, directly off of Oakland Park Blvd. Parking is plentiful. The place is immaculately clean, clean, clean! I think you might be able to eat off the floors! The service is speedy and friendly. One of my favorite things is the amazing variety of homemade fresh soup options. And the fresh made omelets are delicious! Prices are good, and menu is quite large. Do not miss this spot if you are in the city of Sunrise, Florida.

Today was my 2nd breakfast visit to LI Cafe and came away as satisfied as the 1st visit. The mushroom Florentine omelet is delicious. All the sides are nicely cooked and they even toasted my poppy seed bagel perfectly!! Add nice decor and excellent service and you have what is a great breakfast/brunch place! I will be back!

In agreeance with Annie A.... you could easily drive past this plaza and not look twice. When you walk in, the lights are bright and almost retail-ish. The cashier's counter is located straight ahead as you walk in, giving it the feeling as though you are to walk up and place your order. I went around noon, missing the breakfast rush, so the place was pretty quiet. The food was good, better than spending your Sunday at a Denny's or an Ihop (nothing against either, I am just a fan of diners/cafe's.) I had the usual of eggs over easy with bacon, home fries, and bialy. Now what place in the Sunrise vicinity, will you be offered a bialy with your breakfast? Over all, decent place to land for breakfast/lunch.

YES! I was very excited to try this place when I read the review about the Hash Omelet. But before we get into that. The menu is your typical diner/cafe menu for breakfast in the area. The difference? A little pricier in a few areas, coffee was not as good as other places and there weren't a lot of side options, i.e. no salsa was available to put on your eggs (its good, try it!). That said, for your slightly more expensive breakfast you do have the selection of some pretty amazing omelets. Now, back to the Hash Omelet. These things are big and delicious. They are no afraid to put lots of ingredients in the omelets so you do get what you pay for. The staff is friendly, the place is small but nice and the tables are comfortable. I'd say this is the place to go if you're looking for a tasty omelet! Enjoy!

This is the kind of joint you hope to find. Located in a large strip mall you can easily miss the place. The owner and her husband run the place and are there 7 days a week. That being said this translates into the freshest food you can get without you cooking it yourself. I have only eaten breakfast here and love the meat lovers omelette and the corned beef hash omelette. The banana nut pancakes are made with fresh bananas, come in a short stack and are to die for!

I can sum it up in two words: SLAM DUNK. The Long Island Cafe is my favorite diner. It's local, friendly, delicious, and I love bringing new people there. My dad kept getting the same thing over and over and over again. The Hash Omelet. Finally, I ordered it, and since then I have never looked back. It's perfect. Its massive. If you eat it at 8am, you're stuffed till dinner time. Carol is super friendly and I am always more than happy to meet family and friends there for breakfast. If I were Jerry Seinfeld....this is my Monks!

This place is awesome! Its just a little homestyle cafe that seems to be known mostly to the locals. We live across the street and when my dad stays with us he walks there every morning for breakfast. The owner Carol is a great lady and the staff always provide great service and great food and great prices. Portions are huge too- try pancakes the size of the plate! If you happen to be in Sunrise near the Sawgrass mall, skip the IHOP and Denny's and come over to this little gem of a place! You won't regret it!

I'd been past this place dozens of times and never gave it a second glance. It's Small eatery in a strip by my house. I stumbled on some favorable reviews online so I tried it. The only thing I can say now is I'm angry for not having done so before now. The breakfasts are outstanding. All made fresh to order and the portions are very large. (The omlettes are enormous). The hash and meat lovers omlettes are big faovrites. I have yet to try anything on the menu that wasn't delicious. I normally do carry out but the staff are very friendly and I frequently here servers talking to customers by name (Indicates a regular crowd and always a good sign in my opinion). Be sure to check the specials becaus ethey ALWAYS have great new items. I go and think i know what I want and then I see something on the special board and then it changes my mind. I would defintely recommend The Long Island Cafe...try it once and you'll be back.

Looks like a family owned restaurant you know on the nice location great staff oh my gosh it was so good. We walked in and it was slightly packed for an early morning, which is a good sign because it meant that they have great food. When we walked in the waitress was kind enough to give us a nice table to fit all eight of us. What was more impressive was that there was family seated on the bigger table they give up their tables so that we could sit all of us; and that was nice to see. Good people...do exist. We didn't have to ask what didnt have to convince them, they saw our party and they just volunteered to give up their table, we was so touched. So we went right ahead and ordered breakfast. We got some pancakes we get some hot chocolate we got some coffee we get some eggs some grades some tomatoes some omelettes you name it we got it. We had a great time the food was good everybody was satisfied and very happy. We also paid for the family that gave their table for us to use to show our appreciation

In a nutshell- small, busy place on a Saturday morning. Short wait for a table for 5. Service ssslllloooowww. I don't appreciate when a "kid" is your server. The owners / his parents, should at least teach the kid to keep his fingers off the rim of glasses and food surface of plates. "Unique Omelets" are huge, too huge. I kind of compare this place to a sushi place with great sushi, but not a clue about customer service, food safety, etc etc.

Oh my god. I just had the MOST delicious omelette I've ever tasted! HUGE and flavorful and fresh. I assume the organic farmer's market right next door is part of the reason everything was so fresh. My veggie omelette was stuffed to the hilt with huge chunks of amazing veg. Grits were good too and the boyfriend states the pancakes were very tasty too! They were big and very fluffy. Atmosphere is very homey and friendly. The waitress was lovely and there were some obvious "regulars" hanging out and making the place feel cozy. We will definitely be back, I've declared it our new favourite breakfast place!

Scrolling through yelp to find places that have great breakfast and this place was the jack pot. Place was very clean and staff super friendly! First off the omlettes were huge! And the home fries & corn beef hash were amazing! Definitely found my new breakfast go to. You can tell this food is made with love because everything was perfect! Thanks!

Sigh. I hate when people say this - but nothing will sum it up better: "I really wanted to like this place." On the hunt for another amazing breakfast/brunch spot nearish home we ventured off to Long Island Cafe after seeing the great Yelp reviews. We've had some good luck finding some awesome diner style spots in the Davie/Plantation/Sunrise area...and had LIC on our list for a while. It's located in a large shopping center with plenty of parking. Walking in the first thing I noticed was a huge bucket catching all of the water from a leak. Ok....that could happen, not a big deal. Then we just kinda stood there....I felt like every single table in the tiny place was looking at us.....but we just stood there...not sure if we sat ourselves, or someone would greet us. Finally someone came over, wiped down a booth and we took a seat. I went with the breakfast sandwich - sausage egg and cheese and I added an order of bacon. Unfortunately, the bacon wasn't crispy at all. At this point it had taken us a super long to get our food, so I just stuffed it in the sandwich and ate it. You could tell this wasn't super high quality bacon - and the same goes for the sausage. The bread (kaiser roll) was great, but realistically I could of made this sandwich at home - with better quality ingredients for about the same price. I will say that the side of home fries were solid. It wasn't scorching inside, but it sure was hot. At one point my wife said to me "I know why you aren't drinking your coffee - you're sweating!" I felt like there was no ac - just fans, circulating the hot air. The server was nice - she came around and filled our coffee cups and was super personable! Overall this place was outdated - and the food left us disappointed. We had all intentions of ordering french toast for dessert before we arrived, but after the super long wait - and disappointing food, we decided to skip it.

I really, really wanted to like this place. It's close to home, it serves breakfast food and it has affordable prices. But boy was I disappointed! We walked in to a bucket on top of a case that was catching the water dripping from the ceiling. Ok - that can happen to anyone. No biggie. We were seated and our waitress took soooo long to come greet us. No worries - maybe they are busy? Except they weren't. We ordered coffee which was ok - except we couldn't enjoy it because it was SO hot in the restaurant. I was sweating buckets and looked around to see what the issue was. They seemed to have an AC problem and they had floor fans to try to cool down the room but it wasn't working. I could feel myself melting into my booth. Anyhow - the menu looked promising. So many omelette options with yummy ingredients. How could I not order a Greek omelet? It has olives AND feta cheese - I'm sold! When my are arrived I was so disappointed. It was pretty much spinach with a bit of egg, tomatoes, feta and olives. The spinach was so overwhelming! It was hard to taste any of the other ingredients. I didn't eat even half of it because it just didn't taste good. If you know me, you know I'm not one to leave food on my plate. I left this restaurant hungry, disappointed and drenched in sweat and Zi probably won't be returning. Could it have been a bad day for them? Sure. But I'm not going back to find out.

The bottom line is my dish would have been great if they didn't use a sour-tasting balsamic vinegar to cook the food. And if whoever was smoking in the kitchen would have simply stepped outside of the building instead of having customers breathe in cigarette odor we both would have had a better time. Other than that, the 52 seat restaurant has kind-hearted servers and a good-sized menu. They also were flexible in swapping the rice of my dish for bread to make it an open face sandwich. I had Chicken Rockefeller - a grilled breast marinated in a sour balsamic vinegar covered with fresh baby spinach and fresh mushrooms, bacon, roasted peppers, mozzarella, Swiss, and grated cheese ruined by "a drizzle" of more sour balsamic vinegar. It was served with yet more balsamic vinegar in a small shot glass sized bowl that had what I believe was a thick gob of cheese - see the pic! All I can say is if the chef is in love with balsamic vinegar the restaurant should get a sweeter type - we actually get ours from a dispenser at Winn Dixie and it's sweet. We used to go to Fernanda's on Federal highway to get a thick, sweet balsamic vinegar but Winn Dixie's is tasty, shockingly so. Hubby had a Monte Cristo sandwich of turkey breast slices, ham slices, Swiss, and more turkey breast on egg dipped bread. It was generously stacked with meat but the turkey was very salty and it wasn't a gooey sandwich. The lack of gooeyness made it possible for hubby to pick up a sandwich half and eat it as he would any other sandwich. My experience with Monte Cristos is that it's a gooey sandwich that requires a fork and knife. As well, he wasn't offered any sauce or dressing on the side. So hubby asked for jam and the server gave him 2 packs of strawberry jam. So, between the food falling short of fabulous and us breathing in cigarette smoke for a few prime time moments of eating our meal, neither of us are anxious to return. I was willing but hubby said it wasn't necessary because nothing impressed him enough to want to go back.

I've never sat down and ordered food here, I always get a breakfast sandwich to go. If this sandwich is any indication at how good the rest of their food is I need to sit down for a meal. Seems like a small local spot, she greets a lot of the customers by name. Sunrise PD is always in there for a meal. I've always been treated well and the same breakfast sandwich hasn't let me down. Ham, egg and cheese sandwich on a Kaiser roll. We've all ordered sandwiches where the main portion is bread. I hate that, well not here. They pack it in there and it's always good. Come check this place out, and I'll sit in for a meal one day myself.

It's tucked away but fast, friendly and good! Fast, friendly and tucked away. Good Sunday morning spot next to an organic grocery store. Its not super fantastic because its standard fare cuisine.....but it was good food and the place was clean.
