Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Wonderful service....tasty food....but a bit noisey. We had the Cioppino....cooked to perfection....Veal Francaise....tender and just the right tangy taste.. I was underwhelmed with the garlic rolls. to much garlic...over powering. This is a popular local place...get there early or wait on line.

We aren't locals and decided to try this place after finding it on Yelp and heading back from the beach. I really liked the atmosphere, and our server was great. The food, however, was MUCH MUCH MUCH too salty! Honestly none of us could finish our food because it was too much. And we're the kind of people who aren't really picky- so this is saying something. My food was so strong that I couldn't even tell if my cheese was just sharp or rancid- and I eat MANY different kinds of cheese! To be honest, it was really a disappointment as we were all hungry from the beach and wanted a good meal before our drive home.

I am traveling for business. I ordered to go on Monday night and it was so good I ordered again on Wednesday They got my order wrong on Wednesday and I was extremely pleased with the way that they worked so hard to make it up to me. I will absolutely return and tell my friends Great Zuppa de pesche! I haven't tried the tiramisu yet. TBC
(4)Brenda W.
Our waitress was fabulous. My only complaint is that you barely get any wine in your glass for $7.00. I mean two gulps and done. They never use to be so cheap on the wine, so I guess I'll have to find a new place to sit, relax and eat. To bad!
(3)M R.
What happened to this restaurant? Service is bad, even with few people. The food, meh. It's as if the expansion caused the food and service to get worse and they don't really care about feedback.
(2)Lisa M.
Such a disappointment! The hostess was rude and it went downhill fast from there. Our waitress was slow, our food was not delivered in a timely manner, and the food looked like it had been sitting out waiting to be delivered. Some of the utensils and plates were dirty. The restaurant was not crowded but there were a lot of takeout customers. The only employee who really seemed to be working at their best was the busboy! Not worth the time or expense. Find somewhere else to eat!
(1)Jim M.
We had lunch there yesterday and had very good pizza by the slice. We had to get back to work to prepare for the potential tropical storm that was heading toward Florida. Service was fast when we requested that. Consistently good Italian food and service.

Valentino may be the best full service Italian restaurant in Sarasota. Great pizza, great pasta, great soups, decent selection of wine & beer. Moderately priced, some of their selections are outstanding. For a perfect pasta dish, try Grandmas Sunday Gravy, with pasta, sauce, a large meatball, piece of sausage and scoop of ricotta! Perfect sub? Toasted flattened breast of chicken with "Nona's" fried finger peppers and sauce. Decent pizza, and those little garlic bread knits everyone loves. All the soups are good, & a selection of desserts. Pizza crust is nice, & lots of choices available. You need to go several times & try lots of things. The best broccoli rabe anyplace
(4)John L.
An amazing experience featuring many regional Italian styles. Service was kind, considerate and very informative. Prego, Prego, I shall return.

I've had hit or miss experiences here so three stars meets in the middle. Once I had a generous portion of the most perfectly cooked, crisp breading...moist cheese, tender eggplant rollatini. My mouth waters thinking about it right now. It was a momentous occasional in culinary delight. Another time the same eggplant rollatini was dry, burnt and sad. I couldn't have literally shed a tear for that one diamond in the rough experience of rollatini amazement. Service has always been pleasant but brought friends here once and it was one of the off days, I was totally embarrassed! Where's my rollatini!?!
(3)Lynda J.
I would give this place 4 stars but it's just a little pricey with NO atmosphere. They sat our party of 4 practically in the kitchen. Once we got past the noise etc the food was good. We had the vodka rigatoni which came with the yummy garlic knots priced at $14.00 with no salad or protein. The pizzas are delicious it's the thin crust style light and crispy. A nice spot for lunch or dinner.
(3)Hank M.
We love the margarita pizza, Mac n Cheese, mussels and a number of pasta dishes. Not a fan of the sandwiches since the bread is pretty hard to chew.
(5)Kathlyn V.
We eat here regularly and the University location. Food is good. Not gourmet but good. Tonight my husband picked up our dinner. We each had a salad. He had the seafood salad and I had a house salad with grilled shrimp. I was shocked to find FOUR grilled shrimp. Especially when I looked at the receipt. -$31 and change. Ive ordered this salad many times. It usually has 6 shrimp. I called and spoke to the manager. Apparently they raised their prices today. There have been no increase hikes in salad food items, nor shrimp. AND, my husbands salad was $16 and he got 6 shrimp. Poor business sense when you are charging $8.95 for a basic house salad and $5 extra for shrimp AND you scrimp. You don't increase prices and decrease the food. I'm guessing there may be others who will spend their money elsewhere! And here is the thing. Their restaurants are always busy. But I guess greed got the best of them. How disappointing.
(1)Marcella E.
Love this restaurant. We haven't been disappointed yet! Food is terrific, service is good, prices are right and the place is very clean.
(5)Cristina D.
This place is Delicious. Has Nice atmosphere. Has Good prices. Has Good service. Is very Clean. Quite when I went on a Tuesday 530-630
(5)Amanda C.
we asked the local hotel we staying at for any place good Italian nearby. she said this place we get there. it cute place décor was good. I love that they give you garlic knots with the meal. mom had rav she ate them all they must been good. I had baked ziti is my favorite thing to eat I rate the food I got good. and my dad got grandma GRAVY meathballs and sauage and dad like his meal. we had salad too I like my salad and dad ate his.
(5)Jay B.
Our office group stopped coming in because of rude treatment by a waitress from NY. We enjoyed the food and location, but finally moved our lunch meetings across the street.
(2)Loren Z.
Thought the food was a little bland. Other than that, food was hot and the service was excellent!
(4)D M.
We got a sicilian pie last Saturday night which was very overcooked. The cheese and sauce was thin and the crust was dry. I will chalk this up to it being a Saturday night...but is that a valid excuse for sub-par pizza? I just hope that a manager there sees this and figures out how to make the correction needed.
(3)Maryanne S.
Went here while on Vacation , we own a condo near by and always wanted to try , looked appealing from the outside. Started off great , server was friendly and antipasto , and calamari was good( huge portion for an app) then the entrees came , 3 of us ordered chicken entrees 1 veal . When you order a chicken entree you would expect a Breast , not there they serve you the driest chicken strips you will ever have , that is swimming in sauce . Where in Italy would you find this, it's a lame way to save a few cents a pound on product . Don't go there if you are a foody.
(2)Selmy B.
This is sad if Sarasota thinks this is the best Italian. We have eaten here and several times have chosen to do takeout. I have refrained from reviewing with the optimistic hope that improvement would occur. The gravy or as these folks call it the marinara sauce is a can of tomato sauce - bland and leaving you with the desire for seasoning. The young kids working front have no clue what gravy is. The Italian Steak and Cheese pizza is tasty but needs real gravy. The steak and cheese subs are also tasty but really greasy. Cheese used is cheap for the meal is extremely greasy. The lasagna is ok. The servers are experienced and overwhelmed. You see them flash by get your order and gone. Good luck getting fresh cheese before your meal gets cold. Meanwhile the front desk is fully manned with cute young HS girls. This place is a success simply because there is no other pizza spot in the vicinity for takeout. Shame.
(2)Paige C.
Two words: garlic knots Clam pasta and yum pizza Atmosphere bit loud Whenever it's pizza time on my visits to Sarasota, this is where we go. It's a little loud on the inside, but the menu is superb for the area. Decent mix of Italian, pizza, salad, and seafood. I haven't tried too much else in the area, but it you're craving good Italian and/or pizza, Valentino's is probably the best around.
(4)Snappy Shopper B.
Excellent food every time we go! Usually quick to be seated and good service. Wine selection is just right and gluten free options are quite tasteful. They also deliver! Will even customize your order. Love both locations and atmosphere.
(4)Nick H.
Ugh. Passable but nothing really interesting going on.
(3)David L.
Food was great. I had the bambino and my wife had pasta and meatballs. Both pasta dishes we requested wheat pasta. We shared a escarole and bean soup which was excellent. Quality of food was top notch Price was mid but high for the location and environment. It's too bright and the seating is Denny's ugly. Need to dim the lights and get rid of the nasty two person high tops by the door. I felt bad for the couples seated in the high tops. Not a bad choice for a mid week meal Note there is no bar but beer and wine is served.
(4)Donna D.
best italian in srq ...simple. mama's Sunday gravy, best pizza, fast. Great service. Never had a dish I didn't like.....o yea......tony's Salad 5 stars : )
(5)Nancy P.
Really delicious food! Always leaving thinking about the food for days... Got there about 6:45 and was able to participate in their happy hour from 3-7 everyday, half off drafts and $7.00 apps. Had their calamari! I've eaten calamari a hundred times and valentinos is so tender and crisp. Had eggplant bruschetta and that's was amazing. Spaghetti with marinara sounds ordinary yet why does this place do it better than others? Tomato sauce is the perfect blend of sweet and tangy, pasta always al dente. Topped it off with espresso and tiramisu... Really worth every calorie! Can't wait to go back!
(5)Hermun P.
I am obsessed with their mozzarella and prosciutto sandwich. It is so fresh and delicious. The bread is crusty and it's a nice balance.
(4)Melissa A.
I have to say I am quite disappointed in this restaurant. My group of 3 went at 12 and it was not overly crowded and we didn't get served our food until 12:40. Very long wait for soup and sandwiches. When the food finally came it was definitely sub par. The cheese in the Stromboli tasted freezer burnt and the red sauce that accompanied it was too sweet. Maybe I caught them at a bad time but my table of 3 were all disappointed. Will definitely not be re-visiting.
(3)Dawn H.
Have started eating here and have had excellent, friendly service by Sara. The food is good and very reasonably priced. I can get in and out when in a hurry due to work.
(5)Regis E.
Really good tasting pizza, don't expect fast cooking but is worth the wait, the service is good.
(4)Camille P.
I've tried all the soups and would recommend them all, but loved the tortellini! Margherita pizza is light and tasty & served with fresh basil. Everything was great. I'll be back. Selection of craft beer too!
(4)John B.
We were there for lunch and had great Italian sandwiches. We are going back to taste the pizza. Everything leaving the kitchen looked good, especially some of the salads. The service was very good.
(4)Alex P.
While I've dined inside the restaurant before, I mainly order takeout. Either way the pizza is consistently delicious every single time. The cheese isn't too greasy and the cheese to sauce ratio is perfect! The garlic knots are also pretty amazing. The food always tastes fresh. I recommend Valentino's to anyone looking for a great pizza.
(5)Joann C.
Coming from New York City and being from an Italian culture, I'm pretty knowlegdable of what good italian food should taste like and Valentinos is not it. We ordered the Grandma pie which was extremely greasey and the crust was way undercooked. The pasta fagolio had 4 chunks of garlic cloves, WAY to much for one small bowl. It tasted like garlic soup. The penne vodlka was okay, not anything to ride home about. The only positive thing about eating at Valentino's that we found, was the pasta was cooked to perfection and the hostess was pleasant. As for the rest of the staff, much was left to be desired. 30 minutes to get a lemon for my water after asking a couple times. The waitress seemed extremely overwhelmed.
(2)George T.
Great NY style pizza. Every entree we have tried has been excellent. Don't forget to try their desserts too. Nice happy hour daily.
(5)Tony M.
I had their Sicilian pizza last night and it was awesome. Tasted like real New York style pizza which I love. The price was fair and the pie was enough for four or five people. Would definitely recommend it!
(5)Mike A.
The service was horrible and I absolutely am a pizza freak and this pizza wasn't good. The sauce is bland and I had to add garlic and salt to everything to get some flavor. Over priced for the wealthy but not good food at all.
(1)Raechel B.
It was a brisk Saturday night..There was a slight mist in the air..The smell of garlic..fresh bread. ..and ripe tomatoes I knew something delicious was about to happen. Everything here was outstanding. .we had an amazing pizza..it was so big we took half of it home.
(4)Alexandra M.
Came here with the living social deal, and the food was okay (a bit expensive for what it is) and the service was....confused. I got the arugula salad which should be called spinach and arugula, but oh well. It was really fresh, but there was a bit too much dressing for arugula. The tomatoes and parmasian were perfect with it though. We shared the eggplant parmasian pizza which was a really good pizza (cheese, and tomato sauce part is what I mean) but the eggplant should have been crispier if its going to be eggplant parmasian and not just the grilled eggplant pizza (another option). Also, the crust was really dry if not covered in their delicious sauce. Another person got the fettucini alfredo which they liked a lot. The service I say was confused because we were asked for our drink order three times (one hostess and two servers), waited a really long time to make our food order after that, she told me that they did not have an eggplant parmasian pizza (its on the menu), the salad was put in front of another person, we were not given plates for the pizza, we waited a really long time to get the check, and she took our American Express without knowing that they did not take it. There were three hostess and four-five waitress and its pretty small for that.... There was a wait at 630 on Wednesday, so I'd suggest making a reservation if you can. The decor is really cute and you can see into the kitchen and see pizza being thrown into the air (and some random person coming in and cutting theirs??).
(2)Elizabeth D.
Stopped in for lunch after purchasing a car down the road. By the time the whole process was over, Mom and I were starving. Garlic knots, buffalo chicken pizza, and a white calzone with spinach were just the ticket. Even though we were starving, we ended up taking home half of the food because the calzone was made for a giant, and the personal sized pizza was more appropriate for two. I enjoyed watching them toss the dough. I'd definitely be back if I were in the area again.

We've recently moved to Sarasota and have been trying out restaurants in our area. We've managed to hit this one twice in a month, so we obviously like it. The pizza is great. Okay, I'll admit, on our first visit I ordered the calamari pizza and was disappointed, but that was my fault. I was hoping for something like the calamari pizza at Fritti in Atlanta, but it was no match. Believe it or not, my gripe with the Valentino version is that it had too much calamari -- it was literally piled with it. Would've been much better with a sprinkling of really well-prepared, crispy calamari. My second time, then, I ordered their margherita pizza, and it was fantastic. So light & fresh-tasting. Both times my husband & son split a pepperoni pizza & declared it amazing. They also give you some yummy garlic rolls as you wait. And wait you shall.... That's my one real negative about the place. Both times we've been, it's taken a looooooong time to get our food. I appreciate that they're making our pizzas fresh for us, but 30 minutes? Seems a bit much. Overall, though, we really enjoy the food & the atmosphere, so I'm sure Valentino's will continue to be part of our regular rotation.
(4)Nic W.
Food is great... Price is high... Service is horrible...and thats enough to never want to go back. The restaurant was about half full. We were seated right away except...after standing at the table for several minutes they inform us that we will just have to have our 1 year old and 2 year old sit in chairs because they dont have enough high chairs for the crowd they have. (remember they still had at least half their tables empty.) Then they were shocked when I told them we would not be able to stay without a high chair. Later my wife called to talk to the manager/owner who explained that they had a new hostess that didn't know what she was doing. Advice: TRAIN HER. Then went on to say that they were running low on high chairs and planned to get more. Never apologized... didn't seem to care. Just very matter-of-fact. Customer service can go along way in making a wrong situation right. But that was not the case hear. I live 3 miles from this restaurant. We have eaten there many of times. I have gotten food for my staff from here and I have had business lunches here. I WILL NOT BE BACK. Too many great restaurants who actually care about their customers for me to waste another penny at this place.
(1)Scott K.
As strip mall pizza joints go, this one isn't too shabby. Gotta admit - I didn't try the pizza, but we were a very large party, and all the pizza eaters were satisfied. The personal pizzas were quite large, more than enough for 2 to share. I had a chicken Caesar salad that was decent, and an order of calamari served in broth with peppers (not the fried calamari) that was delicious. My daughter ordered a meatball sub that was the size of a Fiat. She enjoyed it, but again, more than enough for sharing. Service was adequate, friendly. Nothing special. The place is basically a HUGE open room so acoustics suck. Not the kind of place you go to have a conversation.
(3)Becky S.
We ordered delivery, and thought about getting a generic pizza, like Papa John's, etc. We had a coupon for this place (20% off $25.00) so we thought we'd try. Being from up north we wanted to see how the Grandma's Pizza would be. It's a thin crust square pizza with cheese and it's dolloped with san marzano tomato sauce all over - traditional when you order it up in the northeast. We also ordered the broccoli rabe. I thought it was a little pricey, but I know if it's good, it's worth it... Lemmie tell ya... The pizza was amazing - it reminded me of home. The broccoli rabe was to die for as well, and a huge portion (and a lot of sauteed garlic). My daughter ate four out of the twelve pieces! Valentino 's - you can call us a regular!! We will be back!
(5)Suzanne S.
Horrible! Found hair on my food ! The owner is very rude to his staff and their unhappiness is reflected in the service!
(1)Nicole G.
When I am in town for business, definitely make it a point to stop here for lunch and/or dinner AT LEAST one time!! Good pasta!
(5)Caroline B.
Awesome Pizzas and pasta dishes. My favorite pizza is the Josephine Grandma .Great service & wonderful atmosphere.
(5)A C.
I was surprised to see so many people waiting for dinner outside the restaurant. It must have meant the food would be great right??? We decided to get a variety of things for dinner the other night. The stone brick oven pizza was decent but looked like a child put it together. You can tell it was rushed and was a bit too salty. The lasagna looked like it could have been on an episode of Kitchen Nightmare. CLEARLY lasagna that has been sitting for at least 2 days and DEFINITELY microwaved. I have no idea why people of Sarasota are giving this place 4-5 stars. 3 stars at best. Won't be going there ever again unless someone in the family specifically asks for their pizza. Their pasta dishes are bland and boring.
(2)Optional O.
The pizza is good, as long as the crust IS NOT BURNED TO A CRISP. Mark is a cocky person, who thinks his pizza is beyond the call of duty. Change your attitudes, and maybe your food will change to be the way its intended to be. I have interviewed a few people lately, in my small column, and sorry to say: they feel the same way. All the best regards. Respectfully, Rocco
(1)Dave T.
Awful, chucky cheese pizza, veal tough and bla , greasy pasta (yes i said greasy noodles.... Ick) just bad, avoid... Even the starter was bad... then the manager was rude and tried to lie to my face and pass the failures off to the wait staff who did a fine job. Luckily I kept my receipt so I could show him, after argument, that his waitress DID put in the order right and that he screwed up, not her. But there's a lot more wrong than just that. There are other choices, find one and enjoy your meal!
(1)John W.
My family has eaten here a number of times and the place is consistent if nothing else. A large pizza is about $20, which given the quality of the ingredients is a pretty good value. The kid meals (pasta and meatballs, chicken fingers, etc...) though, are not all that exciting, but my 5 year old daughter seems to enjoy them nonetheless. The only thing I might complain about is the relatively small size of the place. This is especially problematic when they are busy and on a wait as there is really no place to comfortably sit or stand while waiting for your table. Service is mixed, but tends to be good. All-in-all, worth eating at if you are in the mood for pizza and on the south side of Sarasota. UPDATED: Valentino has recently expanded their dining room and added a larger area for people to congregate if the restaurant is on a wait. The pizza? Still really good. However, my wife and I recently got the arugula salad and were really underwhelmed by it. First of all, it was nothing but arugula - no other greens were mixed in, so the salad was bitter to put it mildly. There were about three or four halved cherry tomatoes, a few scrapes of cheese, and a bit of dressing tossed in as well, but overall, the salad was nothing but arugula. I would definitely skip this salad the next time we go back, which we will, because overall, we really like the pizza.
(3)Heather M.
Went here once and will never go again! The people who work here are rude and nasty. A group of friends and I went here for lunch one day during the week. We had ordered ahead so we could just pick it up and get out quick because we were in a hurry. When we got there to pick it up there was almost no one in the place but our orders weren't even ready. We ended up waiting a solid 15 to 20 minutes for the food to be done. And we called well enough before hand for them to have had our food out when we arrived. And to top it all off, it was EXTREMELY expensive for food that wasn't even that great...
(1)Alberto Z.
I have had just about everything on their menu and I have thoroughly enjoyed every morsel. You MUST try the Chicken Gambiota or the Chicken Murphy. Their piccatta is also outstanding. Wheat pasta is available on request, which I love. For a great appetizer try the stuffed mushrooms. Portions are generous. Service is always great and staff is very nice. On the other hand, I am NOT impressed by their pizza. It IS good, but I think over priced for what it is. You MUST try this place, you will be hooked!!
(4)Jen S.
Great sandwiches but not really comfortable seating inside. Pretty loud especially if you sit close to the kitchen. Pizza is not that great for takeout. Maybe it would be better if eaten at the restaurant.
(4)Scott P.
Wow! Having lived in San Francisco for 20 years and then a brief stop in Las Vegas (where there was a great tuscan style pizza place that I forget the name of, but was excellent), Valentino pizzeria Trattoria ROCKS! Got roasted garlic on my pizza and it was perfect, the cheese was perfect (slightly browned and not too much), the tomato sauce was fresh and the crust was light and crunchy. I give this place 6 stars....esp. in a world where bad pizza seems to be the norm. Looks like a fantastic place to eat in as well. The place waas full on a Tuesday night...guess the secret is out.
(5)DruMiguel E.
solid NY style pie, great subs and overal food. Very fresh and tasty dishes. Service can be slugish sometimes, they seem to need more servers during peak hours. Great place though, best pizza in that part of town.
(4)Mike K.
I was skeptical about this place at first. I've been in Florida for 2 months and my experience with pizza here hasn't been the greatest. Needless to say I quickly changed my mind after taking my first bite. The pizza reminded me of my favorite place back in Jersey. Oh the soup isn't half bad either.
(5)Paul G.
I will never return. I should have sent my meal back to the kitchen, but did not want to embarrass our friend who took us there. The spaghetti tasted like the just poured a cup of salt on it. And the Lasagna was tasteless.
(1)Carmen C.
Top pizza in Sarasota - always good! There are only a few good pizza places in Sarasota and this one is awesome.
(5)Jim K.
I live in Ohio and we love a good pizza joint. Valentino's is my wife's favorite pizza place in Ohio or Florida. I would put it in my top five for sure. We love the large slices and the thin crust.
(5)Lisa F.
This was my first visit. Really nice lunch specials. I had the eggplant rolls. Yummy. It came with a side salad that was OK. Mostly just iceberg lettuce. I would have preferred something a little more interesting. But for $9 I now have dinner too. The eggplant was huge!
(4)Dave R.
Nope, cardboard pizza and way to expensive. Poor atmosphere with unskilled young girls. No music at too much echo in the store. Can't adjust pizza toppings without paying a fortune for a change. $53.00 for a large and one size gluten free. No thanks.
(1)Linda L.
What a great surprise, especially in this nondescript mall location. huge menu, great food, terrific friendly service. If we lived here, this would definitely be a family favorite!
(5)Aaron W.
Great pizza, good service and clean bathrooms. Doesn't get much better. A good place to stop on your way to/from the beach.
(4)C K.
Super huge serving - order one entree for at least 2 people
(3)Jennifer K.
Big portions here... Pizza was delicous with fresh ingredients. We had the margarita but wished it had a little more mozzarella on it. The tortellini brodo soup was also fresh. Staff was friendly. I will definitely be ordering another pizza from here.
(4)Tim G.
Good pizza. Nice crust and a good sauce. Worth your time and money.
(4)Patrick N.
Basically the only reason I gave 2 stars is because we were hungry and the wings weren't awful. Being from NY and stranded in Florida at the inlaws house due to hurricane Sandy, I was hoping for a taste of home. all I got was lack luster Florida pizza. We ordered Wings, a Sicilian pie and a Chicken Parm pie. The Sicilian pie was meh. It was obviously a premade crust that was probably made a day or 2 ago. By the time we got it, there was no crunch to the pie. The bottom was charred a bit(which is totally fine and expected from a brick oven) but through the bite was no texture. The sauce was meh, could have had more of it. The cheese, again, meh. Not fresh Mozzarella, nothing special. The Chicken Parm pie. The chicken tasted like cardboard. The cheese and sauce were equally as lack luster as the Sicilian pie. The only thing this pie had going for it was the crust, which was atleast decent and cooked well. The wings were wings. Hard to ruin. All in all, for a $60 meal, it was pretty disappointing. I will be making sure that since there are no good options in SW Florida, they just stick to chain pizzas.

Valentino's of Sarasota is the best Italian food south of New York City, prepared the way my mom and grandma used to! Valentino's unique old world Italian dishes are flat out non existent at any restaurant in Sarasota Bradenton. Due to the flavor and consistency of their food, we travel from Lakewood Ranch to go to Valentino's, and cannot wait for their rumored Grand Opening this December in Lakewood Ranch. ($10-15/person is for a generously portioned, excellent dinner dish-a price which in comparison is a fraction of the price at many of the other high end restaurants in the area and 10 times better). Definitely get their escarole and bean soup, (request that they scoop the soup from the bottom of the pot) and an order of broccoli rabe with garlic and sausage-both too die for!
(5)Lawrence C.
Very good variety and excellent quality. Very fair prices and positive attitudes of staff equal a return visit!!! Plate of Eggplant parmiagiana was $8 with a side salad---what a deal!!!! Plate of chiken pasta was $8. Slice of gourmet pizza was $3.75 and I split this with my dining companion. Andrea, our server, waived the extra plate charge and we left with leftovers for another meal. We will return!!!
(4)Rob B.
Went back here a couple of more times. It was good but I thought the quality was lacking a bit. Still solid, but 4 stars now...

Update.... After eating here multiple times and ordering multiple dishes. Eating out, dining in, speaking to all the staff. This place has to be one of the BEST restaurants in Sarasota PERIOD!!! They always serve you the freshest food, its hot, delicious, consistent and always served with a smile. They are polite and treat their customers like a professional kitchen and staff should. It is obvious that their food is top notch, but they ALWAYS are trying to give you better and better and better service. THAT to me is why they will ALWAYS get my return patronage. They are my premier Italian restaurant in Sarasota!! God Bless you Valentino's. Continue to do what you do, because you are doing something right!

Valentino's is another neighborhood gem. On Clark Road near Sawyer - in a strip mall - and it's very popular. The pizza is made in a brick oven (and they offer huge pizzas) is very good. I especially love the entree dishes (main course options) and tonight - I tried something unique to Valentino's - called "Valentino" - prepared with your choice of chicken or veal. I opted for the Chicken Valentino...($3 less!) Amazing - breaded large, thin slice of tender chicken - topped with black olives and marinated artichoke chunks all in an excellent tasty but not heavy white wine sauce. Most Italian restaurants feature Marsala dishes and Parmesan options - but this Valentino dish is one I've never seen on another Italian restaurant menu. Perhaps I'm not wordly - but if you visit Valentino's, try this dish. This restaurant is not crowded in the summer months - so try it now - because come winter season it does get VERY crowded - but on those days I order my dinner to go and still enjoy the food without the wait. However - it is worth the wait. Sarasota has many good Italian restaurants and I've yet to sample them all - but this one is truly a gem. And for those who prefer a healthier dish - please note that Valentino's offers whole wheat pasta options. The staff are all very friendly. Enjoy.

Was here a few weeks back on the advice of a friend.Thank you friend. Being Italian, I'm picky about my Italian food. The food here was fantastic..our waitress was great and helped me choose my entree as I was torn between two. The meals are more than generous and I brought half of it home for another day. The restaurant is clean, modern and has a cozy Tuscan flair. Can't wait to return in a few weeks, moreso for the weather(I can't tell a lie), but this will be one of my first dinner stops.

went there before another one was opened, when they had the original chef and management staff,,the food was excellent and service wonderful.....after they opened another place, they took the chef and owner...today my order was awful with forgotten items on plate and luke warm sauce.......long wait.......shrimps no longer stand on plate in circle, just layed down in center......food flavor is still great...try the granny gravy for 850 sausage and a meatball ricotta on top choice of pasta......they forgot the ,meatball and had to wait 10 mins........great waitress, red hair.....

My gold standard for pizza is DeLorenzos (Trenton, NJ) and Co (NYNY) so the 4 star rating is actually pretty darn good in my opinion. Without traffic about 10-15 min drive from Siesta Key Village...and well worth the drive. Both the spinach and arugala salads were freshly prepared, dressed perfectly and each easily enough for two people. The plain, meat lovers and margherita pizzas were likewise fresh and flavorful. Waitstaff friendly and attentive. A variety of pizza combos, sandwiches and pasta (not made in house) are offered in a very casual setting. Our party of six arrived around 6:15pm and were easily seated but steady stream of patrons followed and all tables full by 7:00pm so plan larger parties accordingly.

Our favorite pizza in Sarasota by far. Food does take a while so plan ahead.

Great staff, the veal parm was on a real NY hard roll. Marinara and penne was excellent with sweat taste.

It's hard to find good pizza in Florida, but sometimes you can get lucky. So on our recent visit to Siesta Key we ventured off the island in search of hot gooey pizza. After doing some Yelp research and in trusting my fellow Yelpers' reviews, we decided to give Valentino's a shot. Soooo yummy! The setup inside is so modern and new that it looks like a franchise pizza place, but without the franchise quality - impressive! We had their stuffed mushrooms and mozzarella sticks as appetizers - excellent! Then we ordered a couple personal sized pizzas - they were the perfect size and made just the way I like it! Just the right amount of cheese, the right amount of sauce, and excellent crust! As a vegetarian, they offer a good variety of exotic veggies such as spinach, peppers, and broccoli. Can't wait to go back!

What can I say? After my first visit here I was sold, and Valentino's is my only choice when in the mood for Italian. My favorite entree.....Chicken Cardinale for sure. Best pizza in town for this NY girl. The calzones are huge and there's no skimping on ingredients including top quality ricotta. Amongst our family we have probably tasted about 75% of the menu and not a bad dish yet. Mike and Toni Valentino have created a warm family friendly quality gathering place for friends and family. I would recommend Valentino's without hesitation.

We always get takeout and are never disappointed! They have the best crusty bread. I love the salads and they will customize them for me. The dine in ambience leaves a lot to be desired - too noisy. Pizza is one of the best in the area...and I'm used to great NJ pizza! I have not experienced the soggy pizza crust other have noted here.

The best Italian food in Sarasota. It reminds me of eating at home on a Sunday with my family. They give very generous portions and Mike the owner is a heck of a nice guy!

Stopped in for lunch with a group of 10. Had to remind our server we were missing an order. One of the dishes was so salty couldn't eat it. Sent back but with a group too hard to make everyone wait so just changed to a slice of pizza. Bill came and much to our surprise were charged for the higher priced item and not slice of pizza! Server explained that mgr approval was needed to change our ticket. Food was average - service was totally lacking.

Stop here every time I am in Sarasota . Maybe that is why I need to lose 15 pounds. Rather than list the menu like many reviewers do , let me just say that I have never had a problem here . . With anything.

Starting in 2007 we used to go there daily... for over a year... excellent Valentino pizza was our preference, great and friendly service... then we took a long break, for no particular reason... Recently we went back again with friends from overseas and then againg with my buddy and his wife from NJ... would recommend to anyone.

UPDATE - sorry Julian, I have to disagree with you. When this place 1st opened, it was top notch. Now you can tell they are trying to keep costs down and it shows in the quality. Wife and I always order Supreme pizzas (loaded) and Valentinos was skimpy and bland at best. Sorry, just my opinion.
