I was introduced to this place by a co-worker specifically to try the lunch chicken wing special, 5 wings 5 fried plantains, and pickliz for $5. Besides the Lunch Wing Special I have only had the Poule En Sauce (chicken in sauce, I think LOL). This dish was very good the chicken was very tender and the sauce was very, very flavorful. Actually one of my top 5 caribbean chicken dishes in a sauce. As for the Lunch Wing Special my usual go to meal. The wings are usually fried a golden brown with a nice crunch and good seasoning. The plantains are fried perfectly and the pickliz are a perfect mix of spicy with a slight tang. The place seem to be busy so from the times I have visited with customers inside and the phone ringing constantly. Being I am American and do not speak creole there has been a little difficulty calling in my order with the language barrier. But I am always able to get my order in even if the person that answer the phone has to put someone else on the phone. Also being their pickliz is very popular I do not get why on most days they have a limited amount and cannot provide you with extra even for purchase. I will not go much into the decor and interior, but to say it can use some updating and refreshing. It appears the place has not been changed much since it was purchased. At least this is what was told to me by the friend that introduced the place to me. In addition, despite the chicken being very good over the last year the wing portions are inconsistent and irregular cut not all the time, but I have had this ever once in a while. These are the reasons I was only able to give this resturant 3 stars, but the food is at least 4 stars.

Oh, that explains why the guy asked if I was sure that I wanted an order of TEN wings!! Pleasantly surprised that the wings were freshly made, were well-seasoned and had great flavor, but I was totally thrown off that my $10 order would be a half sheet pan of fried chicken! I surmised the shiny sheet of aluminum foil placed gently on top of the pan but unsealed on three sides was so that the behemoth crispy wings served with a heaping portion of fried plantains and salad didn't steam out and get soggy. But could my order be put in a bag? Communicating was a challenge because the order taker had a thick accent and as he attempted to explain Haitian cuisine, I kept saying excuse me because he spoke too quickly while switching between taking my order at the counter and phone orders coming in. As I waited, I had to keep moving out of the way of the woman mopping the floor and the (her?) young child playing and throwing his toys precariously close to my head. If I return (probably won't, now that I have read other Yelp reviews) I'd just go with what (I think...) the guy said was a regular order--only two wings.

Unfortunately, you will only get decent service when an owner is around or when you walk in during an inspection. As a previous reviewer indicated here, the Air Conditioning is always off. The hell with the customer's comfort. Their staff is among the rudest you will find in this business. The lady who usually takes orders told me to take my business elsewhere and hung up on me. Why, you ask? Because I dared asking for her name after placing a phone order. I pointed out that she did not need to get upset. I just wanted to know who to refer to if something was not satisfactory when I pick up my food. "Well, I need your name. You don't need mine" was her answer. And trust me when I tell you that the flavor is not worth the shifty customer service. If after reading this you still want to try them out, do yourself a favor and request take out plates, plastic forks even if you are eating in. Their dishes are poorly washed. Oh and buy a bottled water. I had some stuff floating in my glass of water.

I am only writing because I expected pretty good food after reading the other reviews and I was honestly disappointed. I got fried chicken and rice and beans. First the good: The rice and beans was actually pretty tasty and I got a ton of rice and beans for my money. Now the not so good: The chicken was incredibly dry and there was hardly any meat on the bone. The food also took a long time and be advised Floridians in the summer- there is no air conditioning at this place. I went with two people from my work and we were really uncomfortable in our button down shirts. I wish this had been better and I don't think I would recommend this place.

I've passed this place several times and finally worked up the nerves to try it out. Parking is very limited, so I parked on the side of the building because I didn't know what was going in the back. Inside was clean and the man who served me was friendly. The take out area is small, but sit-down side is bigger and relatively nice. Seems to still be under construction or renovations. Onto the food, I loved it! I ordered poulet, rice and beans. Not only did it taste good, but the price was sweet! I got the $5 lunch special. I can't wait to be back.

I had take-out from Zouk today for lunch. It was VERY delicious. The Dri Kole (white rice mixed with red beans) was some of the best that I have ever eaten. The consistency was perfect! The Griot (fried pork) was very tasty. The fried plantains were also very good. The pikliz (spicy cabbage relish) was not as spicy as I would like it, but it was still good. I will definitely try this place again.

Tried this place today since it's close by my job. I don't know any other Haitian restaurants close by in Plantation. I got their lunch special which is $6. They didn't have lambi (conch) so I got chicken in sauce. The portion size was generous, more than enough for lunch. It had a leg and a thigh and plenty of rice and beans. The food was pretty tasty. Not the best I've ever had but I enjoyed my meal. My co-workers were jealous of my meal. I will definitely give them a visit whenever I'm in the mood for haitian food at work.

Ive never been but just saw this on the news: Zouk Restaurant, 937 S. State Road 7, Fort Lauderdale was closed May 5 after an inspector observed violations that included: A stop sale order was issued after a live roach was seen in coleslaw inside a cooler; there were 13 other live roaches and 111 dead roaches; the business was operating without a license; the manager lacked food manager certification; proof of required state-approved employee training was not provided for any workers; frozen chicken was being thawed at room temperature; bags of cabbage were stored on the kitchen floor; a bathroom lacked a toilet seat and an employee was working with food, handling clean equipment without first washing hands. A voice mail box for a number supplied to the state was full and not accepting messages.

I can't cook Haitian food so I love that I found a nearby restaurant that has good food. I had the Griot dinner and my husband had the fried fish, tallapia filets (see pictures). The portion sizes were good for the price, $10 each. (I wish this was closer to my job so that I could take advantage of their $5 lunch specials!) I will be back to try the snapper!
