Diabetics at Village Inn

Village Inn is a tough place for diabetics, and you must be extra cautious while ordering food at the Village Inn, especially if you're a diabetic. The food items low in sodium are high in sugar or cholesterol at Village Inn which makes it difficult for diabetics to choose the right food at the diner.

Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for Diabetics

Village Inn offers very few items edible for diabetics without any threat. You can avoid sandwiches and burgers at Village Inn and try the light breakfast items on the menu. You must also skip the shakes as well as other juices from the beverage menu. Almost all the dinner items on the menu are high in sodium except Grilled Tilapia and 6 oz. Top Sirloin & Toast. Avoid Soup bowls and opt for cups instead at Village Inn.

NEVER again. Last Saturday we decided to go out for breakfast. My wife, our two kids and myself went to the Village Inn on 9-mile. When we go to Village Inn, we usually go to the one by Cordova Mall and are pretty satisfied. We've been to the 9-mile Village Inn several times over the years and have never been very happy. I was even asked how I wanted my eggs cooked one time when I ordered an omelet but this time was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. 1. Waitress spilled a full tall glass of water down the front of my pants. By itself, not too bad, accidents happen and it was "only" water. 2. Waitress begged us not to tell the manager about the water spill and asked us to help clean it up. ok... 3. 1 hour after ordering: table next to us was given wrong pancakes so the waitress picked them up and put them on our table saying "sorry your food is taking so long, have some free pancakes" 4. 1 hour 15 minutes after ordering: manager visits each table apologizing for the food taking so long. We ask her for silverware to eat the pancakes originally given to table next to us. 5. 1 hour 45 minutes after ordering: we are finally served our food and we asked for napkins. Not really the food we ordered but we were hungry so we attempted to eat. 6. Food was so bad (over salted eggs, cold potatoes, golf ball sized scoop of butter on every piece of toast) we couldn't eat any of it. 7. Bathrooms were VERY dirty and not flushing. My wife decided to hold it. 8. Never received napkins or check so I had to ask the cashier for my check. NEVER again will we eat at the Village Inn on 9-mile in Pensacola!

Today was the second time we came here and we are definitely coming back. Their crepes are really good and it has became a family favorite. The staff are very accomodating. Today Autumn was helping us and she was the best! Really went out of her way to accomodate us. Eggs benedict is another good breakfast meal here. Can't forget the pies that they made that looks and tastes absolutely delicious!

Second visit things went a little downhill. 6:55 am on saturday. No one there to greet & seat. So we just sat ourselves, no biggie. Ordered the pumpkin pancakes w/o the caramel sauce. I specifically asked for REAL maple syrup as I am allergic to corn syrup and the like. Waitress brought me some MAPLE FLAVORED corn syrup . when I questioned it, she asked the cook if it was Maple, he said yes. IT DEF WAS NOT! So I ate the pancakes without syrup, (had to ask for butter) They were pretty good actually and for that I'm thankful. Made it easier to get them down w/o the syrup. The problem here was IMO... I don't think the staff knew the difference between REAL maple syrup and maple FLAVORED. It is managements responsibility to train the staff on what ingredients are in the food. You could seriously injure someone with allergies via ignorance. Wife said fruit cup was not fresh. No pen at checkout to sign CC receipt. Place smelled bad this visit. KNOW YOUR FOOD PEOPLE!

First time eating here. Portion sizes were larger than expected, which is always a plus. And we received free pie, which is offered on Wednesdays. There were many items to choose from on the menu. The placed smelled great. The food tasted good. And service was good, too. And except for the ceiling, the place looked clean and updated. Didn't use the restrooms so cannot tell you anything about those. I read the other reviews and didn't experience any of the problems that the others have mentioned. Guess we got lucky? ;-) Or maybe they're under new management now? I don't know. p.s. The sign out front says kids eat free on Saturdays. p.s.s. The triple berry pie was outstanding!

I remember when village inn was sort of good when I was younger but now the food is not that great. My pancakes were burnt and the eggs were just Ick. Also I found a hair in my hash browns and country friend steak. And one on my pancake plate. Disgusting. My waitress wasn't that great. Actually I don't think any staff in there was great. They all looked at me like I didn't belong and you can tell my waitress was being extremely fake nice. It wasn't very welcoming and I had a bad feeling the entire time. I came in on pie rush Wednesday and the Apple pie I got looked old and burnt. I tried it when I got home and it was disgusting. Now I'm wondering if this place was ever good. I am definitely not going again. The only good thing about this place is the soda and the water.

We live right across the street and have been there a few times. Every time either they took forever to take our orders or after 20 minutes of having taken our order they would come back and say that they don't have what we want. If i order grilled cheese sandwich with tomato basil, i want tomato basil. not chicken noodle, or anything else. It shouldn't take half hour to figure out that you don't have a particular item. Never been there since

Friendly service. First visit for breakfast had a skillet which was very good; next morning I had a skillet which was supposed to have a variety of veggies, potatoes & meat. It was 85% potatoes with a single slice of green pepper and a single slice of another veggie. I complained to the waitress about the dramatic decline in quality in the space of 24 hours. Got an apology but nothing else.

What better way to start off a Saturday with the family than to go out to eat! Unfortunately, I chose to eat at the Village Inn off Nine Mile Rd. The Village Inn is a franchised restaurant that I first became familiar with in Virginia. At this location, kids eat free on weekends. When we were seated, the hostess did not get a high chair for my infant daughter, nor did she even ask if we needed one. I already knew what the rest of the service was going to be like here. After grabbing my own high chair, we sat down. The menu that I had was different than the one my wife had. We were not offered a kids menu, so we had to ask for it. My water glass, which is a small juice glass, went empty about 20 minutes after arriving and before the food was served, and stayed that way the rest of the time we were there. Once again, good service is very hard to find here in the South. We did not receive ANY silverware for my daughters meal, nor did we receive any extra napkins, and she was not available to ask for extra. In fact, she never checked back in on us until she brought the check. I had to ask other employee's for silverware, and the first one never returned with any. The second person I singled out and somewhat made a spectacle of since we were getting such poor service. Surprisingly, the manager never even came over to inquire about it. The food offered some solace as it was at least good. I had the Eggs Benedict and a side of corned beef hash. Both items were colder than my ex-wife. My wife's food was on a skillet and was warm, and her reports was it was good. My daughter's meal came out without any silverware for the applesauce that came with her meal (French toast sticks). I'm greatly disappointed with the service, and this kind of sub par service is the norm for this location. This was the third time I had ate at this location, spaced out far enough each time to forget why I had not eaten there in a long while. Due to the crappy service around this area, I'm finding that my tips are getting chintzy at best. I pay tips based upon the server's performance more than the food. This server received $0.20, or one percent of the total bill for a tip. I feel she was worth about that much.
