You must try the grit balls and stuffed burgers! We stopped by here after trying to dine at Al Fresco but they were closed so we took a chance and are so glad we did! Nice outdoor patio/bar. Service was excellent but the stuffed burger was definitely the star. We split the grit balls appetizer and the black and bleu stuffed burger. The grit balls were 6 generously portioned fried and battered balls of cheese grits. The stuffed burger is a 1/2 pound burger that came with baconaisse, yum!

My wife and I have gone here a couple times for lunch with our two year old daughter and had great experiences. We have tried the shuxwacker and Bloody Mary, oysters every way they prepare them (grilled, baked, raw) along with the fried seafood platter (I can't remember the name for it on the menu) and the shrimp and crab dip. Everything was amazing, the chargrilled oysters are by far my favorite menu item though. The service here was also excellent we have had the same waitress every time and she was awesome. She was very knowledgeable in what the best menu items were and attentive to our needs. We will go back here every time we are in Pensacola.

The service here is top notch and the food is great. Shux is a small, covered, but open patio restaurant on the side of Al Fresco. Their raw oysters are delicious and at only $12 for a dozen, a great price. We got both the shrimp bisque (more like a chowder even) and seafood chowder, and they were both excellent. We also shared the New Orleans style shrimp plate, which was very filling and tasty. The shuxwacker (with the extra shot of 151) is a must-try; it tastes just like a chocolate milkshake. Give this place a try!

GOOOOOOOOOOD SEAFOOOOOOOOOOD. I would say more but I have oysters sliding down my gullet. Don't sleep on dat dessert. Brownie and pecan pie are ace. Ok. Alright. The oysters have finally slidden down my gullet. WAIT! I meant "SLIDED" down my gullet...I think. Now, that sounds weird too. What's the right past tense form of "slide?" I don't think I can finish this review until I find the answer. UPDATE 9/25/15 I have set up an email hotline for any information pertaining to this "slide" query. Please contact brian_mars_needs_to_know… for any additional information. I will post any changes to this Yelp review as necessary.

I took the advice of fellow Yelper Rachael P and gave Shux's a try. I am so glad I listened as it was a great food. We had the oysters on the half shell, 1/2 dozen char grilled and 1/2 dozen Bienville. The oysters on the half shell were are favorite as they were fresh and sweet tasting. The seafood sauce was a perfect complement to the oysters. The char grilled and Bienville were good but the add ons masked the taste of the oysters so not my thing. We also had to try the crab and shrimp dip with homemade chips which was very tasty. We couldn't miss out on fried oysters so had a basket and they were delicious. Light on the breading and flash fried. I had their house Margarita with the Grand Marnier Float and it was perfect. The service was slow but understandable so not an issue. Great food and fun location.

I had found this location on Yelp an was eager to try it from all the reviews. We were the firsts guests on a Saturday lunch and the place was empty. We were greeted by a friendly server who allowed us to sit wherever we wanted. I started with their bloody mary - as all the Yelp pics looked amazing, and it was great. I really loved the beef stick as a stirrer! Next, we ordered a dozen raw oysters and the entire family enjoyed them. Our server was very friendly and steered us in the right direction for our meals. Wife ordered the spinach salad with shrimp - I swear there was a pound of nice sized steamed cold shrimp on her salad. I too ordered the spinach salad, but got it topped with blacked grouper - easily an 8oz piece. Kids got fried shrimp and my daughter enjoyed the shrimp bisque. As we left, there were folks sitting outside at the bar. Place looked really neat, and if we hadn't been dressed up to go to a graduation, we would have sat outside. I would definitely like to come back when visiting Pensacola.

We had the Crab and Shrimp Dip, Raw Oysters, Sea Food Gumbo, Shrimp Bisque, and Sea Food Pasta. Everything was delicious. The dip was great, the coleslaw that comes with the platter was delicious. We will be coming back on our next trip, but we will opt for dining inside as the outdoor chairs are not comfortable. I cannot remember the waitresses name, but she was awesome by being patient, giving recommendations, and was very attentive. My wife and mother-in-law were impressed with the Bloody Mary and Hurricane drinks.

Amazing oysters, laid back atmosphere and outstanding service. The grouper was very good too; can't wait to go back with family and friends

Best oysters I had in months. I have been trying new restaurants all over the panhandle. I finally found a oyster bar that lives up to its name. Also, I was surprised that the burgers were on par. The dredge burger with a whole egg on top is defiantly a must. I recommend to anyone that loves oysters, especially raw give this place a go.

Really good food and service. I would definitely take a ride into town if you are visiting pensacola beach

Holy cow best oysters in the DTP'cola area hands down! Service was great, menu was simple and everything is REALLY tasty, and did I mention the oysters were fab??? Huge, honkin' half-shells of briny yumminess - the likes of which I haven't seen since leaving the Gulf Coast for the west coast of SoCal in 10 years! The crab cake was perfection - golden pan sautéed with al dente creamy grits and fresh-fried onion rings. Shrimp po boys are fully locked and loaded with a spicy fresh jalapeño slaw and lobster-sized fried "skrimps" (as my pal Marcus would say). And save room for dessert because if you leave without eating the bushwhacked brownie - a layered cheesecake brownie with a mountain of bushwhacker ice cream, caramel sauce, and a dollop of buttery whipped cream - you're kinda insane. Forget Atlas, skip by McGuire's pub, save your money and avoid Jackson's and just get on down to Shux. Your happy, full belly will thank you.

Best oysters in the area and it's decently priced too! Will definitely come back for more next time I visit this area.

Simple menu. Fantastic oysters on the half shell. Cold beer. Cajun twist. What more could you want?

We were NOT going to wait two hours to eat on the island. So we found this place and we are so glad we did. The service was good. Now for the food, you can tell it is made with integrity. The chief was very friendly and was happy to go over the menu for us. We get the oyster sampler they were all excellent. I highly recommend that. We also got the hidden treasure hamburgers. Can I just say, WOW! Those were so good. I got the surf and turf and my husband got the bacon cheese hidden treasure. You can't go wrong with that choice. Particularly, the surf and turf, it was unique. My father had the crab cakes which were very hearty. He said, they were the best he had ever had. My mother had the New Orleans shrimp which were good but expect the spice. Finally, we shared the bushwhacker brownie which my 4 year old gave a two thumbs up. So if you want to bet the crowds and eat some where GOOD check this place out.

I have never had oysters this good. No lie, I tried the sampler with grilled rockafeller and casino oyster. I can't put into words how good they were. The music was awesome. Tried the bloody mary with an oyster and it was so tasty. The crab and shrimp dip with homemade chips was so delicious. Kids had cheeseburgers and they were full of flavor. Service was fast and friendly. This little place is a 10. I will be taking all my friends and family here.

Great little spot. Right off main drag, sit outside and enjoy the crab/shrimp dip, the best I've had. Chip are homemade and good. Service was great.

Just a heads up. Can be hard to spot if you have never been. It is right next door to the food trucks. Great service and food. Had a stuffed burger and the shrimp poboy. Both were fantastic. Shrimp bisque was chock full of shrimp and very rich and the oysters were super fresh. Highly recommended!

Love this place, best oysters in Pensacola, Rachael was our bartender and server, great customer service. My new favorite place to go.

Half dozen raw and a half dozen baked Casino style oysters. Awesome stuff and a great find through fellow Yelppers.

Love this place. My husband is not a fan of oysters so we order the oyster sampler and he liked it. Bloody Mary's are awesome too. Good place, service and atmosphere.

  • Kim B.

Absolutely amazing! Claudia was the sweetest, warmest server ever. The blackened grouper spinach salad and the grouper entree were flaky and perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of spice. The cheese grits rivaled our family recipe. If you get a chance, go! :)

Oysters are so good!! We were passing by almost closing Sunday night, only to eat oysters and appetizer. Greg the bar host very attentive and courteous! Amazing

Great little place next to (and officially part of) the Al Fresco food truck development in downtown Pensacola. Friendly service, nice outdoor seating area and bar, and possibly the best grouper sandwich I've ever had. Huge piece of fish, cooked perfectly, and the only complaint is that it may have been a bit too spicy with blackened seasoning. Even the potato chips were house made and really good. My wife opted for tacos from one of the food trucks and she ended up eating a bit of my sandwich which was much better - honestly we could have both split the grouper sandwich and been plenty full from that. As a nice addition, there was football on the TVs and a $1.75 special for a pint of Yuengling. Worth a visit if you're in Pensacola and enjoy good food in a casual environment.

I started with the seafood pasta and it was terrible then they let me swap it out for a cheeseburger that was delicious! It needed lettuce, tomatoes and pickles though!

Tried to go to Pensacola Beach but it's high season and the wait was way too long. Found Shux Oyster Bar on Yelp and really glad I did. Had the Oyster sampler platter (baked and charbroiled) and it was just fantastic. Also ordered a cup of Seafood Chowder, very tasty. Creamy and just enough spice, not over the top. Oyster lovers go there! I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

I was down in Pensacola visiting with family and was recommended to Shux by a random person on the street, and I was delighted at what we found there. An awesome atmosphere and some of the best seafood I've ever had. The Po-Boys are overloaded with shrimp and delicious jalapeño slaw, and the fried oysters are tender and juicy. The raw oysters are the biggest and tastiest I've ever had on the gulf. After the meal I was stuffed and satisfied! Next time I pass through Pensacola, I'll definitely be making another trip to Shux!

My husband and I went here on a Sat night to watch the March Madness basketball game. It was an ok experience . They were short staffed so service was slow but my Bloody Mary was good and so were the appetizers we ordered . Crab dip and chips along with a dozen raw oysters HOWEVER my main dish was the seafood pasta , it looked amazing and tasted amazing but when I got home and went to bed I woke up and puked my guts out all night . My husband had the same thing I had drinks and appetizer wise but he had a fried platter for his dinner. I get it could have happened to anyone but I will be very careful next time I go .

It is such a cute place! Tucked in on main street next to the food trucks... they have an outside and inside area to eat. A group of us came for dinner time and sat outside on a pretty day. We had a variety of dishes such as the raw oysters (sooo fresh and good), the charbroiled oysters (ok but add jalapeño for flavor), surf and turf burger (super huge, but good), crab cakes and grits (cheesy yummy grits and fresh crabbie cakes). Try their soups and their homemade potato chips too they are tasty. Don't forget about dessert! I had the bourbon pecan pie with whipped cream and it was perfect for one! Lol. Cute place one restaurant off my pensacola bucket list. Awh Shuxs lol

This place was awesome!! My server, Robert, was super great! He made some awesome recommendations such as the "Shuxwhacker" drink and the Chargrilled oysters! If you are going to drink, get the Shuxwhacker! It's a frozen rum drink with chocolate (like a frosty on steroids). The chargrilled oysters were cooked to perfection! The burgers are fantastic! I had the Surf and Turf hidden treasure and it was to die for! It's a burger stuffed with cheese, crab, and shrimp! Robert instructed me to cut it in half and when I did, a tidal wave of gooey cheese flowed out. Utterly amazing!! When I come back to Pensacola, this will be my first stop!!

I love Shux. The food here is really good. The stuffed burger is delicious, the oysters are made in all sorts of great ways, and I positively love the grouper entree! The outside bar is a fun place to sit and chill too.

Really good place downtown for raw oysters right off Main Street. I think this is where Jerry's Cajun used to be. Nice friendly staff good selection of draft beer outside and the chargrilled oysters R pretty decent they are not Acme Oyster House but are still pretty darn good!

This is our second visit here! It was good the first time, even better today! We ordered the raw oysters and the grilled oysters. Both were so yummy!! The raw were cold and salty. Just perfect and grilled had a nice smoky flavor! I would suggest trying both. After sharing those with my BF, we split the special pork burger. I'm not a huge pork fan, but it was good. Spiced with apples a nice big serving. Try the Bloody Mary. It has a beef jerky in it. Our bartender was great, nice and friendly and fast with the service. I like this little place on a nice sunny day. Going downtown is always fun and this is a great addition.

What a great, small place... The appetizers were large and good... But the stuffed burgers are the draw!!' The burger was awesome, the only way to make it better would be to put it in artesian fresh bun!! Come try this place!!!

I must be missing something here---and its probably oysters. Both times I have gone I have gotten burgers and they were huge disappointments. The "DaHidden Treasure" burger was extremely overcooked --not even the cheese in the middle could save it. The "Dredge" burger with an over easy egg on it sounded great---but it was so salty that I could eat less than half. However, my better half got the "Shuckin Grits" and he really enjoyed those. Due to all the other positive reviews on the oysters ...that might be the best thing to stick with here. Or else I'm just unlucky at Shux! Cute building/atmosphere/bar though.

  • Sean R.

Some of the best raw oysters that I've ever consumed. Shux is in a perfect spot in downtown pensacola. The food is a tad pricier than you might expect and the restaurant is fairly tiny, but overall, it was a fantastic experience. You definitely get what you expect.

We stopped by on a gallery night for our first visit. The place was packed but it was amazing the quality service we received through the crowded bar. Raw Oysters were excellent and the crab cake is by far the best in Pensacola. Blue Ribbon crab cake in any contest.

  • Sarah V.

Best oysters I've ever had! The chargrilled were smoky, cheesy, perfect. Homemade chips and jalapeño cole slaw were good. The seafood stuffed burger was ok, but missing that little something extra. Would definitely go back for the oysters though!

Great location, great food and drinks, great service! Delicious oysters, fried garlic grit balls were out of this world! Wish we were sticking around to work our way through the menu. Highly recommend!

Sat at the bar. Had oysters on the half and char broiled. Disappointing. Crackers were all smushed in their packets. Had to ask for napkins twice. The dozen count was generous on both because the oysters were small. However, would not compare the Char Broiled to Dragos and the bread was very limited

Char-broiled oysters were better anything in New Orleans !! And the fried garlic cheese grits with savory sausage and tomato beurre blanc was to DIE FOR!! YUMMY And the service was awesome

My friend and I (both chefs) decided to have our girls night dinner there. We were not disappointed! Food and service was great. Everything from the appetizers to the dessert was incredible. The grilled oysters were some of the best food I've had in pensacola in a while. Great job guys keep up the good work! We'll be back! :)

Diane and I returned to Shux after RADIO LIVE, WUWF. We ate there three weeks ago and it was terrific. For continuity we ventured back and order the same -Char-Grilled oysters and a hamburger (yes, a burger). To our delight the food was as good or better than our last visit Though later in the evening, the chef went out of his way to duplicate that best burger I've ever had. He was unaware that we had been there a few weeks ago. The oysters are supreme, tender, fresh, just shucked. I know the source of their oysters and seafood; I lived here for 33 year, Panama City and Mobile. The seafood is great, not substistued, and at a fair price. This place on the edge of downtown is becoming a favorite of ours and many others who kn ow Pensacola. The servers are a joy. Plus, they took space left from Trader Jon's, his memory lives on.

Place has been opened for about a week and the wife and I finally gave it a shot. Nice outside oyster bar with a smaller inside dinning area. This place would be fun on a nice night outside with a cold beer slurping oyster. But on this day we had a late lunch and sat inside. We started with a dozen raw oysters which were good. We shared a blacked grouper cob salad. The salad was ok at best, the fish was cooked well but the amount of blacken spice was to light for my taste. We ordered the crab and shrimp dip. This came with the house potato chips which they make in house. The Dip was really bland. I'm from Maryland and people live and die on everything crab. Crab dip in Maryland is a meal in it self. The flavor of cheese was weak, as well as any seasoning. The potato chips were really good but they could have been amazing if only they put salt on them. They were just good potato fried perfectly with the best texture you could ask for. Salt would have pushed them to new heights. To conclude go at night grab oysters drink beer and enjoy the breeze. Venture further into the menu at your own risk.

This was our first visit to Shux, and overall found it to be a very good dining experience. We went on a very busy weekend in downtown Pensacola when there were several events going on, including the Arts Festival. The place is small with an outside area, and also a small inside area. Since we weren't really dressed for the cool breeze that was blowing outside, we chose to sit inside. This is the old Jerry's Cajan that was part of the Al Fresco development, so we had been there before on a few occassions. We opted for the Chargrilled oysters and the shrimp and crab dip, mainly because we wanted something light, not a full meal. Being fans of the Acme Oyster House, we were a little curious about how good these would be. In our opinion, these were as good if not better than those that we have had at Acme. The owner / manager told us that he was having to get the oysters from Texas, as most of the "local" oysters weren't that good. As per another review, I agree that the crackers leave a little to be desired, but I will take a few broken crackers for chargrilled oysters this good. The shrimp and crab dip was served with home made potato chips and was excellent. A couple of cold adult beverages, and we were happy campers. Will we be back, absolutely. This is a great little place with great food and friendly service. Pensacola has been needing a place like this for awhile.

Great concept. Food is great but the fusion and Gouda Stuff were both closed. Bathrooms are still portable johns and there is no place to wash. Some gnats landed on me but that's to be expected in July.

Nice atmosphere for sure, but the service Monday evening 9/15 was horrible. It took forever to even get recognized at the mostly empty bar. Our tab for two drinks was $8, we paid with a $20 and the bartender kept the change! We had to stare him down and he responded with an apathetic "can I get you something?" After he fished our change out of the tip jar we left. Seems like a nice place but if the bald bartender is there you may wanna try another time.
