When choosing a place to order from or eat out at Chinese is usually not the first place to pop into mind, unless it's PF Chang's, but since we don't live near there is rarely happens. However, I will say that Wok & Roll in Avalon Park is decent for this type of cuisine. I ordered the chow mein, which consists of Chinese veggies and a meat of your choice all cooked stir fry style in a white garlic sauce and it's served with a side of steamed white rice. It was actually pretty tasty. My boyfriend ordered a fried chicken dish of some kind which he was happy with, but it was a little too greasy for my liking and the sauce was way too much. Their prices are cheap and their menu extensive. They have all of the usual fast food Chinese items that you'll find at every place like it in town. The people are nice and the service is quick. This is not a place I'll eat at often, but will probably try again in the future when I don't feel like cooking.

***review no. 500!*** I keep getting the menus with the discounts coupons on my door so when I was in the mood for some roast duck, the maverick in me decided to defy the 1 star reviews and try them for myself. I called ahead to place an order for pick up. They gave me my total but didn't say how long it would take. I arrived about 15 minutes later and only had to wait 2~3 minutes for the order to come out. My order consisted of: Vegetable egg rolls Krab Rangoon General tsos chicken w. white rice and 1/2 roast duck w. white rice Everything, including service, was right down the middle okay; not great but not horrible either. For this I give them a solid 3 stars. My only reservation so far is that I believe that I was shorted on the rice~I was expecting 2 sides of rice but received only one container of rice. So I'm not sure if this was 2 sides in 1 container or what...I'm mean, what if I needed it to be in separate containers? I may be back for the duck but its hard to say since I usually don't do Chinese often.

Food is Awesome here but the only issue is the customer service I don't know if the front person is the owner or a coworker he was extremely rude also I ordered over the phone to be able to pick up and go but it was different. Food order was not place and then he expect me to wait 10 to 15 min. Not good at all Please treat customer right and with respect we as Avalon customer are the one the keep your restaurant running and making money.

Stopped by this place against my better judgement and others opinion. Biggest mistake. Walked into the place at 9pm with my 2 teen daughters, made eye contact with young man at counter said hello, grabbed menus and sat down. There was one customer in the restaurant and an older man eating in the back. The waiter sat down with the older man and began eating. So We sat there looking over menu. We sat there quietly for 5 mins with no service. The older man kept staring at me as he continued to eat. As we got up to leave the waiter jumps up and instead of walking towards us he walks back to the front desk and says have a good night. Summer Palace is my Chinese Restaurant of choice and I will never stray again.

I found the wanton soup to be way to bland, Even with soy sauce. The noodles were also old, so I wasn't to happy about that either. Now for the main course General Tso chicken with shrimp fried rice. Well lets say this is no longer the place to come and eat. My wife's plate came out a whole 15 min before mine and cold. The wonton soup was oily the noodles were greasy and the coke was flat. Worst yet was that the host knew the soda was flat and serve us. They did opened up a 2liter of coke and serve us after we bought it to their attention. All in all we will Not be visiting this restaurant again. Smh please don't bother to come here !!!!

My brother picked up some food to go. The food was just ok. He ordered shrimp fried rice and fried shrimp. It was not very good. He said he would not go back.

So bad I returned the entire order. Maybe it was a bad night but fool me once... I'm not wasting my time here ever again. Yuck Edit: 10-5-13 Yelp- I posted this 2 years ago- why is it showing I posted 3 months ago. What type of scam is yelp running?

I wish I would have read the reviews on here. I can't remember having worse Chinese food. My orange chicken had a thick soggy breading on it. The chicken was actually dry. I've never had dry chicken in Chinese food. The rice had barely any flavor. The egg roll was dripping with grease. The egg drop soup wasn't hot. The delivery driver was nice.

Based on my experience, service is terrible and food is inconsistent. Skip. Also, this is the second time I posted a review for this place on yelp. This review is "nicer" than the last so maybe YELP wont delete it.

As the old adage goes first time shame on you second time shame on me. Pretty sure third time makes me an idiot. This place is terrible. Food is a low quality customer service is terrible. It is actually become a joke that we tell the person ordering "Say it ithree times or you may not get it" And if we do not say it three times we sometimes do you not get it! I should elaborate on what I mean by poor food quality. If you have ever bought meat on a Sunday. Then on Friday you realize you haven't cooked it yet and open it up to smell it. That is what my food smelled like.

I just ordered here out of necessity. I'm new to the neighborhood and they were one of the few Chinese take-out places that delivered. The reviews on Yelp are surprisingly positive when other places weren't so happy. I took my chances. Wrong choice. I ordered a sesame chicken combo (figuring how hard could it be to screw up) and honey chicken with white rice. I also didn't have a menu in front of me. Well, the total was $24 which is kind of ridiculous...I previously lived about 10 miles away and this same order would have been closer to $15. But sure, whatever. The combo came with a soup, too, which sounded great. The order came on time. The food....well, we're currently staring at it wondering if we should make some sandwiches. The fried rice tastes burnt. No other way to describe it. The honey chicken is simply just some deep fried chunks of chicken on top of a TON of veggies. Veggies were in a brown sauce. No sauce on the chicken. Not even remotely sweet/honey like. Sesame chicken didn't taste like any sesame chicken I've ever had. I can't describe it....it tastes slightly like fish. The egg roll was edible if you covered it in duck sauce to give it SOME flavor. It was fried so much that it was hard to bite into though. Oh, and I would love to write a review about my soup...but I never got any. Sorry but the food was barely mediocre, they were missing part of my order, and it was overpriced. Definitely won't order again.

Very good take out menu. Food is provided as ordered and on time. They are very good about special requests. My wife does not eat mushrooms and the accommodate her. I ask for mine extra extra spicy. They think it is but it's not. I always ask for extra hot sauce.

This place is really good for a neighborhood place! I have been going here for 6 years and it is consistently.. great. the vegetables are perfectly cooked. It's not too greasy. And, recently, I saw they added vietnamese summer rolls to the menu! My favorite is the shrimp with broccoli (white sauce). the teriyaki chicken is also good. All the soups are decent. The inside seating is also pleasant. Solidly a YES vote for Wok N Roll, where I go not just because it's close!

I used to love this place, but had to stop eating here when we got a wadded-up napkin in my bag. The napkin had red stains on it...maybe blood??? Whatever it was, it was the end of the road for me. Bummer too...I really miss this place. Very good egg rolls and orange chicken. :)

Used to eat this place a lot a few years back and enjoyed it. When I returned to the area I received a take out menu in the mail and decided to order delivery. However when I called the lake under hill location I ordered an L30 on their menu sesame chicken and received instead another dish. I called and explained the confusion and they explained that I must have the wrong menu though their name is written across the top. And they refused to correct the order stating "what do you want me to do? My computer says it is something else?" Just terrible customer service and blames to customer. Will not be ordering from there again!

Being from New York, I'm very critical of anything purporting to be "New York Style" Chinese food. While Wok & Roll may not compare to some of my favorite places back home, this is some of the best "NY Style" I've had down here. Wok & Roll is somewhere between the NY fast food style (you know, the ones with the stark white walls, and the same photos of food as every other restaurant) and a sit-down restaurant. It's got a few tables, and the decor is nice and pleasant and everything looks clean. Yet, after years of patronizing this restaurant, we've still never actually dined in. Over the years, we've ordered a fair selection of items, but we tend to alternate between a few of our favorites: General Tso's Chicken, Orange Chicken, Roast Pork Lo Mein, Crab Rangoons, Shrimp Fried Rice and one or two others. The food is cooked well, and never overly greasy or salty. The portions are more than generous. Ordering takeout/delivery, one dinner combo can last me 4-5 reasonably sized (not belly-busting) meals. Dinner combos include an egg roll AND your choice of wonton, egg drop or hot & sour soup for about $10. Lunch specials offer an soup or egg roll or a drink for less than $6. I will note that they tend to skimp on many of the seafood based items. You'll get your pieces of shrimp in your shrimp fried rice, but sometimes not quite as many as you'd like. Still, all in all, a great restaurant.

Overall: Inconsistent. Sometimes Wok & Roll is my fav takeout Chinese food, and other times their food tastes old and bland. I wish they were more consistent with the good days.

It was one of the first restaurants we visited in Orlando and the worst.. We ordered so much and pretty much left everything at our table- we had to find another place to eat soon after because we hardly ate.. I don't think I'm picky but this food was not appetizing at ALL... Hate to give bad reviews but its my truth

If I could, I would rate this 3.5 stars. You don't find cheap chinese food like this everyday. This is one place I will miss now that I've moved across town. Almost every time I eat cheap chinese food I am left with that icky feeling in the pit of my stomach, like it is screaming 'what did you just eat?!' This is one of the very few places I have found that does NOT give me that feeling. And I suspect it may have something to do with what they state right on the front of their menu: they use only 100% vegetable oil. I went out on a limb once again when I tried this place, and I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. The prices are very reasonable. The service is fast and friendly. The interior is clean, well designed and very pleasant for eating in. But the food is what really impressed me. Never overly greasy. Fried foods were always crispy and lightly breaded. Steamed dumplings are super delicious. Spring rolls are yummy. The vegetable fried rice is very light and fresh, definitely my favorite item. My boyfriend always ordered chicken dishes and wonton soup and devoured them all. The best part about the food is that it tastes great and won't leave your tummy with any regrets. Now if only I could find something comparable on the west side of Orlando!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
