Diabetics at Village Inn

Village Inn is a tough place for diabetics, and you must be extra cautious while ordering food at the Village Inn, especially if you're a diabetic. The food items low in sodium are high in sugar or cholesterol at Village Inn which makes it difficult for diabetics to choose the right food at the diner.

Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for Diabetics

Village Inn offers very few items edible for diabetics without any threat. You can avoid sandwiches and burgers at Village Inn and try the light breakfast items on the menu. You must also skip the shakes as well as other juices from the beverage menu. Almost all the dinner items on the menu are high in sodium except Grilled Tilapia and 6 oz. Top Sirloin & Toast. Avoid Soup bowls and opt for cups instead at Village Inn.

After getting bored of nearly a week's worth of the the hotel's breakfast buffet, I hit my trusty Yelp app and found this gem! Glad I did, I've essentially found my new favorite breakfast joint... whenever work or pleasure takes me to Orlando, I will be sure to stop back in! My mouth is literally watering for more pie as I'm writing this. Went with two kids cuz they were saying they were hungry and calling me daddy... It was late morning on a Wednesday (lucky us, free pie day!). It wasn't dead but far from busy, as expected for the time of day we went. There was under a minute wait to get us a comfy booth, as requested. For some reason, parts of the table were inescapably sticky from syrup (I'm guessing and truly hoping). I requested for napkins and attempted to wipe down the sides as the top was clean enough, but somehow my son and myself couldn't avoid discovering new "sweet spots". Perhaps there was a a syrup troll under the table we forgot to pay passage to. Dunno, but it became amusing to us all after a little while. Our server was friendly enough but definitely seemed either overworked or overwhelmed as the request for napkins required repeating on at least twice. Also, if it weren't for the hostesses, we wouldn't have known about the pie deal as I had ready it on here but didn't pay attention that it was limited to a specific day. Anyway, he forgot which pies we ordered and the box for my daughters leftover pancake. After getting that sorted out, we got the check (of course, those children that kept calling me daddy kiddies expected me to pay). SUMMARY Along with the usual (breakfast) suspects, they feature Great deals, plentiful kids' meals, very yummy pancakes, delicious cherry pie (my daughter had one too, but honestly don't recall which... It was scarfed down moments after we got back to the hotel, though), very friendly and informative hostess. However, not sure it would be the best place to go if you're in a hurry. Although, that is highly subjective as its base on my first and only visit. Heading back in October, may likely try their dinner, so I may need to update this review.

6 adults and one 18month old Called in at 23.00, service Was excellent even down to their understanding of a very tired baby late at that time. Food was also excellent, portions and quality were large and well prepared, my only complaint was I didn't have room for one or more of the beautiful pies on display. Price was also really good average $15 / £10 a head . Called in for breakfast the following day. Helpful and pleasant staff again

Returning from an early morning flight, I was hungry and needed breakfast. My local ihop was overflowing and had a 45 minute wait. So I yelped nearby breakfast places. Village Inn was close by and highly rated. I was weary because I drive by this place frequently, and it's location is next to an empty gravel lot, and it looks rundown. But I was very pleasantly surprised once I walked in. It was clean, bright, spacious, and well appointed. The menu was extensive and varied. They have a large selection of pies as well. I ordered the corned beef hash with 2 scrambled eggs, hash browns, and mutigrain pancakes. It was a delicious hash, I would probably go with the buttermilk pancakes next time. I want to go back for some pie! Next time I'm in the mood for a big breakfast, I will return to Village Inn.

Village Inn was a solid 31/2 for me. Funny, on past visits to Orlando I passed the place and it always looked like a seedy motel to me. It was certainly not an establishment with curb appeal that beckoned me to dine there. We only gave it a chance because it was close to our hotel and the Yelp reviews were pretty good. The hostess was as very friendly and at 9:30 am reminded us that we could get breakfast, lunch , or dinner! Even just the breakfast part of the menu is huge. There is a VIB part of the menu where you can pick four items from four different columns for $8.59. My husband got this and loved his Orange Blossom Crepes (along with the cheese eggs, sausage, etc.) I enjoyed my Mediterranean Omelet. It was made with egg whites, feta, artichokes, and topped with avocado. The omelet was the perfect size for me, although I have to admit it was much smaller than most of the gargantuan sized omelets you get at many diners. So if you are looking for a huge omelet, do not come here. Of course the omelet came with lots of other food including a vanilla yogurt parfait and three pancakes. The yogurt, drizzled with honey, was good, and I tasted the whole wheat pancakes which were good too. Our server was very friendly but the food took a long time to come out. That is one reason I could not give this place four stars. When I come to a diner type of establishment, I really expect pretty fast service. I think we waited about half an hour for our breakfast to be served, which is way too long, especially if the restaurant is half empty. Everyone did enjoy their food though. We would definitely return.

We used to have great experiences in Village Inn, which is why I feel a bit bad rating it 2 stars when the quality and service used to be great. This restaurant used to feel more like a family run place in the past, but in my last trip it was a bit of a disaster. I don't know if maybe I came in on an off day, or I expected too much but I wasn't happy. The food although came in quickly, the orders were messed up. I was also disappointed in the lack of service from our waiter, she seemed completely uninterested in actually serving us! Might try to go again next year and update my review because in the past I have always left happy!

Good breakfast choices. The look was like a 50's diner made modern. Very nice and clean. Their dishes were good. We ordered the Ultimate and the Big Country skillets and a chicken fried steak. Their skillets were tasty and satisfying and came with buttermilk pancakes but you can opt for toast or fruit instead. The Big Country skillet was like the Ultimate but topped with their country gravy. Very good. Their chicken fried steak was deeeeelish! We opted for fresh fruit instead of the pancakes that it came with. Was pleased with the choices we had. Will definitely be back for brunch.

After our company Christmas Party, a group of us went to the Village Inn. This was my first time eating at this restaurant. It sort of reminds me of an old fashion diner. I am a fan of any restaurant that offers breakfast all day long. A friend and I shared some pumpkin pancakes along with eggs Benedict. I am glad I decided to share the meal because the portion sizes are huge. Both were great; however, the pumpkin pancakes was the star of the show. They were divine, melted in your mouth topped with powdered sugar and pecans...Yum! The staff was amazing, and I will be back for those pumpkin pancakes!

Oldie but goodie... Can always rely on this place for a decent breakfast that's easy on the wallet. Coffee sucks so I never add milk or it will taste like hot milk. Servers are always friendly. Their multigrain pancakes taste like a cinnamon crumble cake so I'm not convinced it's multigrain, but it sure is yummy!

The Village Inn Spring Break tour ended in Orlando. Funny stuff, but I had no intentions of planning a vacation around two VI locations. It just so happen that in Tampa there was one a mile from our hotel almost across from Busch Gardens. In Orlando there was one directly across the street from our Double Tree hotel and Sea World. I got the opportunity to check in for a few coffee stops and a meal. I looked at what Yelp had to say on this one and found it to have better than average reviews. I knew darn well they had a tremendously awesome location around major resort hotels, Sea World and Aquatica. From a distance the restaurant looked no different than others I have been to. On closer appearance it very closely mirrored the VB VI. The parking lots was pretty full upon arriving and the lot was clean of debris. I was disappointed at the cigarette butts around the entry way and mentioned it to the manager Chris. The interior was very close to a carbon copy of the VB location and was fully upgraded and looked very presentable to it's customers. We were seated quickly by a smiley hostess. Our waitress did not take long to arrive and get drink orders. The food orders were put in and I thought our waitress had a great attitude and was good with my kids. I noticed a large party on the other side and found out they were having a golf banquet... interesting. The food came out within 15 minutes and everyone was satisfied but me. My order was slightly off with sausage links instead of patties. Our waitress checked on us and apologized for the mistake. My son enjoyed the links and patties came out to the table within 5 minutes and there were two on the plate instead of one... a nice gesture. Food was hot and everyone devoured there delicious breakfast meals. At one point in the meal the hostess came back to check on us and we needed some extra napkins that she quickly addressed. This is something extra that I love to see in any restaurant and that is teamwork. She was not busy and instead of doing nothing elected to check on customers as back up. There was nothing about this experience that would prevent me from coming back again. As a matter of fact I would probably upgrade it. The manage was at the register and asked how my meal was. I told him where I was from and he knew the manager in VB and told me to say hello. He also said the cigarette butts would be addressed immediately. With prices being so good there is no way I would not check them out over other less desirable meal options in the area that will charge you an arm and a leg. Not to mention they have pie. This trip made me appreciate my hometown Village Inn Virginia Beach even more.

It was ok, not as fresh as I thought it would have been. Good service and wasnt inclined to try the pie after my entree althou I think those pies would have made it a 4 star. Had the tenneseeb scrambler and it was ok lotsa flavor in the gravy but nothing else stood out. And it came with pancakes which I can say were delicious. Would not go again.

I have to say, I was a little nervous about this place... the sign and name both had me convinced it was a motel for the past 5 years I've come to Orlando. Turns out, no, they're a fantastic restaurant. We went for breakfast for dinner one night after a long day at work and this place hit the spot. Everything we had was fantastic, and I'm a stickler for breakfast.

Came in for breakfast on a Sunday of Presidents' Day weekend. We were staying at the hotel across the street, so this was an easy pick. Only waited a few minutes for a table. Place was clean and comfortable. Service was friendly and professional, but it was a bit slow. The breakfast was very good though. Would recommend to any traveler in the area.

Village Inn would have earned a solid 3 stars if just considering the food (2) and service (4), but I got up to use the restroom after I finished my meal. Luckily it was after I ate because when I see a filthy restroom, its not hard to imagine that that's what the kitchen looks like. I thought it was ironic that there was one of those sign off sheets that shows it was checked off by an employee on the door. In other words, I wouldn't eat here again. But if you must go, here's the scoop. All of the employees were suspiciously friendly (not in a bad way, but it felt kind of forced from the two we encountered.) The food was okay, but know that you are getting food service food at its finest (although I am told the pancakes were fresh and very good.) The omelette I had was okay. I thought I read reviews talking about their renovation which was one of the reasons I picked this place. Maybe that review was from ...'87?

This was our first experience with a Village Inn. I cannot say enough good things about this place. My husband and our two kids came four breakfast one morning and liked it so much that we returned the next day. The restaurant was clean and quiet and there was no wait to be seated on either day. Being in Orlando... You'll appreciate the respite from noise and big crowds at Village Inn. The food was well prepared, nicely presented and tasty! Every one of the staff w encountered were very friendly. They were genuinely sweet to us and the kids. I will definitely be back on my next trip to Orlando.

I have been to this Village Inn before, and I didn't go back until now. The remodeling was done right, food quality turned around, and it is the best bargain on I-Drive. Not only is it priced right, it also has excellent service, free WiFi, and prices in line with places normal people pay. Too often places near the tourist areas overcharge. It's a new go to place for my frequent conventions.

Can't go wrong at Village Inn. Takes me back to being a poor post college student. Village Inn was the place to get a great meal anytime during the day at a fair price. And the service was always good. Still is. Thoroughly enjoyed breakfast, winding down with friends, after a week of roller coasters and Shamus. Desserts are great. If you like pie this is the place.

I have been wanting to try this place forever, I have never seen one other than the one by SeaWorld & have lived in Orlando all my life. The customer service here was great I even asked my server for a Togo cup for the rest of my orange juice & actually brought me out a full one. Everyone at the table got the V.I.B. Which I thought would be a lot of food but was surprised it was just enough which is unusual for me because I almost always have leftover when eating out. The cheese omelet & my home potatoes did not taste like they had any seasoning however the strawberry crepe was amazing, I loved it! They have a huge selection of pies; I hope to return one day to maybe try out their lunch/dinner in hopes that they use more seasoning & might try a slice of pie, it was pretty tempting not to get a piece togo.

Family restaurant with breakfast/brunch or lunch! Decorated nicely, came on a Sunday noon, not to crowded. Food was good and plenty. There's no Greasy smell like you would get at IHOP. I had the Montecarlo Eggs Benedict and it tasted great. My husband had the keylime pie he enjoyed Although it's not the best in the country like they claim.

  • Carmen Y.

I came for a late breakfast on a Monday. The place wasn't crowded and my server was pretty quick. I did not have high expectations for the food since it's the typical pancake, egg, and potatoes. Menu items are similar to that of Denny 's. For those that plan to come on Wednesday, a free slice of pie is offered.

  • Mark H.

I have to preface this review with the insight that I am a huge fan of Village Inn. I frequented this no frills, hearty portion, breakfast gem on a regular basis up in the panhandle and the only thing that kept this specific location from getting all 5 stars were the subtle differences that I felt slightly diminished the dining experience I was accustomed to. I never deviate from the Ultimate Skillet. I was surprised to learn that this location did share the same literal take as my "skillet" was served in a bowl with a smaller portion and softer potatoes than I was hoping for. That being said, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. I will definitely have this one on the radar anytime I'm in the SeaWorld area.

I went to village inn only because it was across the street from my hotel; so I didn't know what to expect. But I really had a great experience. The food was good (not great, but what do you expect for the price?). The service however, was fantastic! Susan was my server and she was fast and regularly checked in on my. Honestly; the service was an A+

If you're looking for a better alternative than an old Denny's, Village Inn might match that of an IHOP experience. If you're looking for a better experience altogether, do find your local Cracker Barrel. [Had breakfast.] Iced tea tasted like the odor-infested Orlando tap water system I well know by now; the suggested French toast infusion creation with alleged banana cake taste and sprinkled strawberries was nothing less than a bland disappointment, and my two bacon strips cooked to order were oily and quite greasy. I will, however, award a star for nice service. Sadly not a #recommend.

  • Jenn S.

Decided to try based on Yelp reviews. The service was a solid 4 until we sat down. Our server made no eye contact, no pleasant conversation, and didn't come back with water until after I flagged down the hostess 10 minutes after he left. (She brought us water, then he brought our drinks 2 minutes later. The food was a 3, bland I recommend being very explicit when ordering. My husband ordered French dip, which the menu says comes with a side of fries or coleslaw, and he asked for the slaw. What he got was a French dip with fries and an extra side of slaw which was charged separately. All in all, we won't be back and I recommend with hesitancy.

The restaurant was lovely , had the feel of of Denny's . Our waiter Alex was friendly and attentive. The food came in a timely fashion and was delicious. I highly recommend trying it. No wait on a Sunday morning, and restaurant was be no means empty.

Great breakfast! The VIB menu is outstanding!! The French toast and turkey bacon are amazing. The burgers are good too and the kids menu has nice selections. However, whatever you do, don't order the Southwest salad. It's almost completely made of ice berg lettuce. Great service, especially in the mornings. Parking is always good as well. Free kids meal on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Blown away by the impeccable service! This is how service used to be, and how it should be. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. Alex was our server and he was so friendly and fun. Everyone here seems to love their job. They treat you like you are in their home. I don't see how anyone could leave a bad review, this place is the bomb! :)

We're in town for a convention and have been back multiple times because the food is that good. Burgers are good, pancakes/French toast/omelettes all delivered. The pies for dessert are delicious, I only wish they were replenished more often (they ran out of one for a few days now). Service has been outstanding, friendly and attentive. We went for the convenience, but returned for everything else.

TERRIBLE!!!!! STAY AWAY!!! Went here for breakfast because Keke Breakfast Cafe had a 40 minute wait. (Big mistake!) Ordered the eggs, bacon, potatoes and French toast. Eggs tasted dry, bland and nasty. Bacon was burnt, potatoes was hard and flavorless. My french toast had onions in it!!!! Disgusting. So I asked my waiter if he can bring me a fresh new plate of french toast and he did. The new French toast he brought back were even worse. They were undercooked and soggy. I was upset and fed up that I didn't take a second bite, I went straight up to the register to pay and get the heck out of there. I was greeted by the nice little old lady at the counter and she asked me how my meal was and I honestly told her it was disgusting. So she ended up taking the meal off the bill which I highly appreciated. If you like flavorless, uncooked, dirty food I would tell you to come to this place. If not stay away and go somewhere else!

I think I might get better and cheaper food at IHOP or Waffle House... We got Denver omelette and a skillet, which are both recommended by some other yelpers, but somehow they both very disappointing, considering so many positive reviews on yelp. I am not a native and don't have high bars for the quality of American food, but the food I had was mediocre at best (better than my own cooking for sure). Also, the portion is small and food really don't worth the price. Definitely won't be coming back again.

Good mom and pop place. Rather be here than at a chain restaurant. Good food at fair prices. Friendly staff. Husband ordered Country Music Star breakfast he said was good. I ordered a sausage egg and cheese burrito. Hate that they use shredded cheese as opposed to sliced cheese. The melting quality if shredded is poor and affects the taste. And I asked for side of sour cream which I ended up not using. Was either again really poor quality brand or fat free type. I didn't eat my burrito for the fact the cheese in it was terrible and sour cream was not good. Bathrooms need a REAL thorough cleaning from top to bottom. And as a business owner I would ask that they take a look at the landscaping outside the building. Walking up to the restaurant I have to always ask myself - if the owners of the restaurant don't care about what the outside looks like, what does the kitchen look like.

GREAT breakfast spot in Orlando. We settled for Dennys yesterday but the Village Inn was the perfect spot. Usually I have corned beef hash and eggs when I go out for breakfast but my daughter was ordering french toast with strawberries and bananas. It was great. Not too sweet, and with cream cheese in there for good measure. We weren't hungry until about 4 PM. We're going back and I'll probably get the CB hash. The pies are also supposed to be awesome.

Walked in and what a gem! A very clean and bright decor accentuate the Village Inn. I was greeted by a very friendly hostess (didn't get her name) who seated me promptly. After I was seated, my waitress, Brittany came over. She was very friendly and took my drink order. The menu is very extensive and they serve breakfast 24-hours. I was trying to decide between a breakfast dish and a dinner dish and on Brittany's recommendation I went with breakfast. Great choice. I ordered the: Country Music Star Omelette Stuffed with country sausage, diced ham and chopped onions, then topped with Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, country sausage gravy and chopped hickory-smoked bacon. Also served with hash browns. it was every bit as good as it sounds and it also came with a stack of three pancakes. I was very pleased with the freshness of the ingredients and the taste of it all mixed together with the cheeses and the sausage gravy was truly amazing. I've dined at very expensive restaurants and I've dined at dives, but The Village Inn ranks up there with cleanliness, service and food quality. I would definitely go back again!

Pros: 1. Great service. 2. Near most hotels,I-4,Sea World and Convention Ctr 3. Breakfast all day 4. Buttermilk pancakes rocked! 5. Most breakfast entrees priced from $6-$10 Cons. 1. Doesn't look like much from the outside.

I would give them more stars if I could!! The scrambled eggs were just the way I like them...light and fluffy. The orange crepe was delicious and my husband loved his country music star omelette!! The service was amazing! All the servers stopped and talked to our toddler. We are only in town for a week but we will be back!!!

Came in based on other reviews and we were not disappointed!! We had a late breakfast. Cannon, our server was quick, responsive and helpful. Grits were perfect! Eggs, bacon and wheat bread very good. Good food, good service clean & bright restaurant. = a very nice breakfast.

I am not impressed with this chain overall. I always end up eating here because for some unknown reason my mom loves this place. I mean I get it mom, it used to be good but it has been less than meh for YEARS. This experience just reinforced my opinion. After a long wait because of our large party, it took forever to get our orders placed and 2 forevers to actually get the food. When we got the food, parts of the order were missing or just plain wrong. (which I truthfully expect with a party of 12) Our server was clearly overwhelmed but managed to serve our group and their many needs and requests without getting visibly frustrated. The pancakes which are typically predictably good were extremely small at this particular restaurant. The potatoes were overcooked and the grits instant and BLAND! It was as disappointing as I expected. Maybe one day I will win the vote and take the family to Cracker Barrel if we must have breakfast at a chain restaurant. If you are hungry, this will work to keep you from starving but its far from foodie friendly.

We visited them for breakfast on a weekday morning and were immediately impressed. The restaurant was sparkling clean with an airy open the core. The staff was very friendly and our waitress was very helpful. The food was fantastic we enjoyed everything, including the pie! I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a great meal at a very reasonable price!

This place is best known for their pies - and they are really really good! We came here for breakfast twice and the service and dishes are really good. Heavenly pancakes. Real maple syrup served hot as it should be! Bennies (eggs benedict) are good. We stopped by another time and bought some pieces of pie to go. The seasonal Peach Supreme is a must! No wifi.

There should be more Village Inns than Ihops! I love this place for breakfast or brunch!! I always get the V.I.B, you can choose any type of egg + any meat + side (e.g. potatoes) + a sweet dish! All for less than 10 dollars!! My favorite item of the menu are the French toast! Better than anywhere else! Add to the amazing food and affordable pricing an great and friendly service! It is a great place to have a relaxed and comfy meal among friends or family! The pies are awesome too! I always have to get a whole pie to go home! Highly recommended place!

This is a chain, so my expectations were low, but I was in the mood for a late breakfast. What a pleasant surprise. The service was super, and the food was hot, fresh and tasty. I asked for something that they no longer had on the menu and was delighted that the server said it was no problem. Great experience.

Denny's and IHOP have nothing on Village Inn. The exterior might scare some people away, but inside is newly renovated and full of friendly and attentive staff. The food is always excellent, not to mention the pancakes and pie!

I had no idea what I was getting into coming here. A friend found it on Yelp and I just tagged along. The servers were over the top friendly, and one of them even did a little Daffy Duck for the kids at a table near us (and was very good at it too). Our server was friendly and attentive. The choose 4 breakfast special is the way to go in my opinion. I had scrambled eggs, bacon, tortilla and fruit. Everything tasted great, and they brought out Cholula hot sauce for me. Coffee was good and they left the pot at the table so you could refill your own cup whenever you wanted.

I wasn't expecting much, being on the way to the airport and needing gas....Saw a different chain restaurant from the highway and pulled off. The other restaurant was closed and then, down the street I saw the Village Inn and decided to give it a try. It looked closed, but we went in and it was fine, even hurried up our late lunch so we could get on our way quickly. Had a burger which was fine.

I hadn't been to a Village Inn in years. The service was great, the food was good. Lots on the menu for anyone to choose from. The multi-grain pancakes were ok but a few of mine were a bit gooey in the center - but it's hard to get those pancakes to cook like the buttermilk.

I am from Denver home town for Village Inn and you cannot beat the Village Inn Breakfast for value, taste, and service. The food is great, the portions are great, even able to share and the staff will go out of their way to accommodate the customers. The pies cannot be beat anywhere in the area. It is a great place to come for pie & coffee as well. Visitors in the I Drive area need to visit or miss out on a great place to eat at reasonable prices. VIB - ROCKS. pie too.....

  • Cassie M.

Great breakfast. There are many options, including healthy ones. Friendly staff and quick service. We didn't get a chance to sample the pies, which they are known for, but they sure looked amazing. Very close to Sea World and easy to access.

  • Michael C.

Spectacular service considering it is in the middle of tourist hell. Laid back vibe late at night. Decent location, pricing is a bit high for the menu com[pared to Denny's, but small price to pay not to have to drive that far to another quick sit down place. The tuna sandwich and salad I ate both tasted fresh. Overall, not great but definitley not bad at all.

  • eg s.

Not impressed at all. I got omlette w whole grain pancakes. Such a tiny portion, not what i am used in diners. Wasn't bad, but wasn't very good. Basic, like in any chain restaurant...

From the outside, it looked a little overgrown and dicey. The parking lot wasn't packed, which I thought was a sign it wasn't that good; but, oh! How wrong I was! Once inside you immediately can see that everything is sparkling clean and well kept. The hostess greeted us cheerfully and all the waitresses are friendly. And the best part: a huge show container of fresh made pies! Glorious, delicious, amazing pies. Cream pies and fruit pies and their own creations like the Peach Dream. The food was great, service great, and the pie was wonderful.

Village Inn is a better breakfast and brunch restaurant than Denny's and IHOP. I got their Village Inn Breakfast for $6.99, which is similar to their make your own Breakfast Slam at Denny's. In the V.I.B., I got their egg white scramble, fresh fruit, two turkey links, and two french toast. Their fresh fruit mainly consists of honeydew and cantaloupe, one pineapple cube, and four pieces of red grapes. Personally, I didn't think it was fresh. It looked like it was a day or two old. The egg white scrabble was nothing too special. It was a bit on the greasy side and was something I could have made. The french toast looked like the bread was on white bread instead of the special kind of french toast bread most cooks/chefs use. Service was on the slow side. I had to flag the waitress for my husband's strawberry crepe and a refill on hot water. I do have to give it to them on their pies. Their Chocolate Caramel Delight pie was rich, creamy, and delicious. Overall, I wouldn't mind coming back again because of their pies, crepes, and breakfast selection.

Quaint family diner, service was awesome, albeit it was low season so not very crowded. I went with my wife, 5 children and parents (9 total) and we were accommodated nicely. I had the chicken pot pie, and the chef brought it out to me freshly made. Pie was awesome. A local gem.

This is my daughter's late night place to eat. Being in the theater, she needs a local place open after the show to grab a meal or snack. They are famous for the best pie in the word not only because that is what is written on the wall. They usually have several interesting types. She had some chocolate infused slice and strawberry rhubarb for me. Pie is my favorite food at the end of the meal and it was excellent. I also had a burger that was very good and was told that even though the menu is quite large (diner like) with an extensive variety of many variations, it is surprisingly universally good. Late at night they were out of onion soup and lemon meringue pie. Everything we had was very good. Not a pretty place, very commercial and plastic, but with pleasant folks to serve you and decent food. Late night spot = check.

I love places like this. From the outside you're not sure but then you read the reviews and come in. This is when you feel the family style atmosphere. The food is good especially the pancakes. The pie is good but maybe not the best in America as they claim.

Honestly, the FRIENDLIEST STAFF ever. Good food and GREAT pies. The prices are CRAZY CHEAP (we're from CA so to see a meal for $4.99 is just unheard of for us). Clean place, TVs to show the game and plenty of parking. You really can't go wrong here.

The service here is really bad. The manager and the guy who waited on us were both rude. The waiter made inappropriate comments all through our breakfast. When we asked for water, he said that let me see if I can drain the pool. Due to the bad nature of other comments I am not putting them here. He joked about us with guests on another table. Don't know exactly what his issue was but he is not fit to be working at a restaurant.

Adore this place. Everyone from host to servers to managers are all extremely nice and service-oriented. I have been here three times and each time I have been amazed by the great attitudes of the staff which make it a great place to start the day whether with family before hitting the parks or before storming the conference halls. The food is solid with all your basics and then some specialities, definitely a step above Denny's. Also, Wednesday everyone gets a slice of free pie. Friday is the Fish Fry. I especially love the VIB breakfast special where you can choose all sorts of items for $7.29 satisfying sweet and savory desires. I really like the multigrain pancakes! This place is great for everyone. Come and keep this non-chain food charming restaurant keeping it open for years to come! One note, the restrooms could use a refresh. They were a bit messy one visit, but I am going to guess that was a fluke.

As always this place I awesome. Cathy the manager is sweet and very attentive. I wish managers in more restaurants understood that their extra touch means so much. Alex was my server, one if the best I have had in a while. This little place tucked off I-Drive is a hidden little gem. Styled with a retro feel and food that, sorry to say grandma, is even better than grandma used to make. I can't get enough.

Staying at the DoubleTree across the road, I shuddered at the thought of a $16.95 (plus automatic 15% gratuity) breakfast buffet. Yelp to the rescue! Saw some positive reviews on the VI courtesy Yelp so over we went. Great breakfast, great staff, great price. Wait staff was welcoming and fast (but never felt rushed). Both of us had the VI build-your-own breakfast menu ($6.99) by choosing 4 items from a long list. I had the chicken fried steak, grits, buttermilk pancakes, and omelette - all very hot and good. Wasn't a huge fan of the Chicken Fried Steak - was a bit more of a breaded salsibury steak vs a tenderized steak for my liking. Pancakes were perfectly done - fluffy and cooked just right. Combined bill came in likely about the same as what I would have paid for the hotel buffet - each! Will be spending most of the remainder of the trip enjoying some great morning breakfasts and trying different items on their morning menu (might need to stop in later to try out a super looking pie menu).

this place has a good food and it's cheap. the reason why i have to give 3 * is because of their service. specially the inconsistency in the service. we visited the place twice during our stay. the first time we decide to create our own breakfast, please note that this comes with pancakes. while people that got seated after us were getting their food before us AND(think that really made me upset) ever their receipt as soon as the food is delivered to their table and as soon as the server has checked on them. our server didn't check with us on time, so by the time I was done with my meal my wife still hadn't gotten the pancakes. and after we flagged the server down about it he was no where to be found for the receipt as well, so we had to get up and go to the cashier and ask for it. the second visit on other hand went just the way you'd expect. with no problems at all and the server being a true professional. if you are in the area it is a cheap place to have good food. the service, i guess it all depends who would you get

I love this place. First of all, the General Manager, a Norwegian woman sat us at our table and followed up on us during the meal, and at the end she cashed out our check. She is amazing, sarcastic, and fun. We were there for brunch and it was delicious. The prices were great and the food was plentiful and deeeelllllisshhhhhhh. Great food and relaxing atmosphere. I love it.

It's a tourist trap. The waitstaff, hostess and cashier all seem to be reading off a script of forced friendliness - like they have memorized their part of all interactions which is creepy. Food is mediocre, like IHOP. You go because you are stuck at the doubletree with no other choice.

So I had never heard of this place, but we decided to venture out this way after checking via Yelp what our International Blvd options might be. This is our only evening together in Orlando for this trip, so we might as well make it something affordable but good. I couldn't tell from their website whether this was the only Village Inn in existence, or if there were other locations. One look at the website, and everything about it screams "chain!" but it was still difficult to tell for sure. (Indeed, it is a chain, even if it's not well-known where I'm from). What stands out here: the menu includes a lot of "ordinary" American diner fare, combined with a few inventive items here and there. It's like the American diner that decided to innovate, using a decidedly agile (incremental, non-threatening) process. Something you should know about my impression of diners. I tend to think of diners in the northeast as the ones that try to impress you with menu items that are slightly off from ordinary, even as they are described as foods that are far more gourmet than they really turn out to be. So the Village Inn kind of felt like a faux 1950s-era southern diner, but established by a carpetbagger from New York City ("New York City!?!" "Get the rope.") There were some other oddities. I got a side of cole slaw, which was served with a spoon. Where I'm from, we eat cole slaw with a fork. So this was yet another confirmation that Florida is, indeed, the north of the south. (And I'm really only assuming here that only the north is that backwards -- I could be mistaken, and the reality could be that Florida really is more backwards than the north.) The buttermilk biscuit that came with my meal was very un-southern-buttermilk-biscuit-like. It was more like a very dense hamburger bun, folded over for biscuit-like effect. There is more I could complain about. The open sign was not lit, even though the place was open. When we first walked in, there was no one there to seat us. For a moment, it seemed we really had the place to ourselves. That would've made for a really fun meal. Oh, yeah. And our server was full of personality. That's not a complaint. She genuinely wanted us to feel welcome and comfortable. I don't think I'll ever find another server who could handle thousands of irritable, spoiled, cranky tourists with the grace and warmth she must put on display every day. The best part of the meal: free pie. If I could give this place five stars just for the free pie, I would. That pie was delicious. And free. And did I mention, it was pie? I'm melting just from thinking about the pie. All things said and done, I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this place. Take the family there and make a ridiculously ordinary breakfast feel like something truly extraordinary and fun before you brave the communist breadlines at the theme parks. Oh, you mean those lines are for roller coasters? Hm.

We checked this place out on the advice of the front desk at our hotel. This place is like a local version of Ihop except it was a lot less greasy and oily. We got an order of the chicken fried steak (/w hash browns, 2 eggs over easy, and a short stack of pancakes) and an order of french toast /w bacon. The french toast was very good. Nice and light and fluffy and nice thick pieces, would totally order it again. The chicken fried steak, a favorite I'd never order in the north, was very tender and crispy and tasty and yummy. The eggs werent too greasy. The hash browns were very crispy. The pancakes were very fluffy and light...not heavy at all. We think this is going to be our spot for breakfast the rest of the trip. It was pretty inexpensive and the food was good...it definitely beats the crappy alternitives of Dennys or Waffle House.

This morning I had to do it and make a stop at Village Inn. I had not been here for several years and I always love their pies. Their breakfast options are very good. I walked in about nine in the morning and it was already very busy. I ordered the 2-2-2 breakfast. That came with eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes. Actually, it only comes with one protein but I always order both the sausage and the bacon. This time around I don't want to talk about the food. The food here as far as breakfast is concerned is always delicious. The staff here were amazing! I was greeted at the door, they sat me down, and I was taken care of. Xavier was my server today. Nice guy, took my order and in a few minutes breakfast was served. My kind of place. I then went to the cashier to pay and it was Chris the general manager who rang me up. He was super friendly. As I was walking out the person who had greeted me at the door then wished me a nice day. I felt like I was getting the Disney World treatment near the sea world area. They truly treated me like royalty. I will definitely be coming back again.

Ate there on a Saturday night. Had the build your own breakfast. Very good. Pancakes excellent though somewhat small as was the French toast. Still very tasty and at $6.99 nicely priced. My wife had a veggie grilled cheese with tomato soup. She said it was pretty good. Good coffee. Service good, very friendly. Total bill $25 with tip. Will be back when in the mood for diner type food.

I ate lunch on the final day of a quick trip to Orlando. I had never heard of this place, but a nice guy other flight down to Orlando that gave me and my friend a free meal coupon. I tried it out and I am glad that I did. The food was good and hearty food and the service was awesome. Make sure you try some of the pie, that was probably the best part, I am going to make sure that I make this part of every trip to Orlando.

  • Ant L.

Typical chain diner restaurant. Very extensive inexpensive menu. One can really fill up from a meal under $10. I ordered the fried chicken steak beakfast. Everything looks good, but you definitely get what you pay for. The pancakes had a very chemical taste to it. The chicken steak is all artificial meat. Even the eggs are lack of any flavour. I'm not complaining. Just stating the facts. By the way, my server was really nice and come by and checked on me a few times to make sure everything was ok. Recommended for all travellers on a budget, especially families with kids.

I went to Village Inn almost everyday of my stay in Orlando. I loved their breakfasts. They are big and hearty. I just get the 2 egg breakfast which comes with pancakes and hashbrowns. I am full for the next two meals! I think I actually gained weight on my trip even though I skipped out on lunches. The wait staff changes pretty regularly (except the cashier). Every time I went in there were new waiters or waitresses. Anyhow, the service by any of them was really good. I definitely enjoyed my breakfasts here.

    (4)

I came in for a quick bite - it's near the Sea world aquatica water park entrance. I just had 2 scrambled eggs and toast a la carte (tax and tip was less than $5.) They have free wi fi.

A great find near seaworld, thanks to reviews on Yelp. Went for lunch and had Fiesta salad. Very reasonable and good quality. Gave into temptation and shared a slice of delicious pie. (and yes, Trish is a very nice person and she wasn't even our server!)

  • Jeff A.

Keeping in mind this place is in the same league as a diner like Denny's, it is very good. They serve $3.99 mimosas heavy on the champagne. The chicken spicy omelette was surprisingly good with a lot of yellow peppers cut thick.

    (4)
  • Austin H.

All in all, this place is average. Nothing on the menu cries out, "you must have me!" The wait staff is nice, even when other customers are asses. And there are plenty of asses out there. The fine ladies who were working the night I was here last must have had mile long fuses. But, I digress. They have sweet tea, and they do it right. This, in and of itself isn't anything special in the middle of Florida, but since I moved to Seattle, I've missed little things like sweet tea. And being called Hon by waitresses. So, if you're stuck at a convention and don't want anything too pricey, stop by the Village Inn.

    (3)
  • J S.

This is an above-average family restaurant. It's not far from Sea World in Orlando (and also close to the convention center). I went here because it is across from my hotel. I like family restaurants, but so many of them are bad. This one isn't. I had an excellent server. She was funny, pleasant, attentive and all-around cheery. I really appreciated her attitude. I ordered coffee and the huevos rancheros. The dish was very good, especially the tortilla. It was served with lots of topping options (on the side), such as salsa, sour cream, and butter. The hash browns were good too. The coffee was decent. I'd definitely recommend this place.

  • Addy S.

i aways liked this place. Average breakfast or extremely casual dinner. Non gheto version of ihop, waffle house or dennys etc. Clean and predictable food. Usually friendly staff except for the useless manager this past Saturday night doing nothing except snickering about customers near the back, and the useless server who somehow botched both a diet coke and an unsweetened iced tea. What is so hard to understand about someone not wanting sugar, honey? Again, its worth a shot if ur staying at the Doubletree. Maybe they could improve on their overnight staff.
