We have been eating here for 21 years. They do a ton of take out, so it's nice to eat in. It's pretty quiet and service is efficient. Their food had been consistent since they opened! I definitely recommend Pu Yi!

It has been years since I have eaten here -- Brings back memories when I first resided in FL in search of Beef Chow Fun and the nearest place that cooked it was this place. Still the same look and ambience as I remembered it on how it used to be - Dining tables and bright blue color booths. The owner is the same old lady who is friendly and warm - I asked for the dinner menu since I wanted to eat Beef Chow Fun. I ordered fountain drink (free refills) - Beef Chow Fun and Walnut Shrimp. Beef Chow Fun was a huge portion however not as good as I remembered many years ago or perhaps Im so used to Tasty Wok & Golden Lotus version of it? The taste of smokey wok fried noodles just wasnt there on this version of my fave fried noodles. Walnut Shrimp tasted just like the others Ive tried at Tasty Wok & Ming Bistro. So to me ordering that wasnt as bad as the Beef Chow Fun. I was debating on the Menu Board special of Fish with Black Bean Sauce - Perhaps I may get that next time? Walnut Shrimp was $13.95 - pricey yes but you get about 12 big plump shrimps! Beef Chow Fun was $9.95 - I pay a dollar less at Lams Garden - Perhaps I will not be ordering this again here. The Fish with Black Bean Sauce was priced at $11.95 and that is not bad considering its a seafood dish and portions here are truly family style. I will order this next time! Fountain drinks with refill is $2.25 - Make sure you ask fountain drink otherwise they will hand you a "can of soda"! Water here tastes bad so either order a drink or hot tea! The service here is warming and courteous this is why they get 4 stars - my drink was asked to be filled and the owner made sure My meals were ok and I was doing fine eating. Otherwise food rate would have been a 2-3 stars worthy considering they are pricey - For the price I would rather eat at Tasty Wok or Lams Garden or even Golden Lotus for that matter. I think her daughter was the bus lady - she looked mixed asian but def looks like her daughter - perhaps might be wrong. Also they are selling a chinese jacket that is hanging on a dry cleaner hanger and plastic thats being sold for $49.99 - Wonder if that is a used jacket they are selling for that price? This place also sells asian knick knacks around $4 or so when you cash out on the counter!

I decided to try this restaurant between school and work. It is just a simple mom and pop establishment with a dining room. The service was very good; attentive, prompt, and courteous. The food is reasonably priced (around $7-$9), for what one receives. It is nothing to write home about as I have enjoyed far better Chinese cuisine, but if you are looking to satisfy hunger and need someplace relatively quick that is not McDonald's or Burger King, this is a good place.

Pu Yi has been in that plaza for as long as I can remember. The lady, who seems to work all day and night everyday, is as sweet as can be. The food is always spot-on and the lunch special is an amazing deal. I have never had an issue what-so-ever. Don't go to a chain restaurant when you can support a local business that serves great food.

Average food, nothing particularly special. Portions are pretty generous. The egg rolls taste like the ones you can purchase frozen at Costco. Wouldn't personally order again but it's a good option for students on a budget.

This place is perfect for me, as it is close to my house and serves great food. Seems to be a family run operation and they do a great job. I will certainly continue to dine here. Definitely recommended.

PU YI Chinese Restaurant is conveniently located off University Blvd near Dean Road. I have been a big fan of PU YI because the food is always authentic and can be prepared anyway you like. The owners are gracious and humble people from Old World China and will try to accommodate all requests. The restaurant is always clean and coming from New York's Chinatown it is like going home when dining in. I would highly recommend PU YI for quality, Price and authentic Chinese Cuisine.

Upon my arrival I was treated very well. I sat down at a booth and looked over the lunch menu but noticed that there weren't a lot of vegetarian options but I asked anyway in particular for Ma Po Tofu which I was hoping they'd have. In case you're wondering, Ma Po Tofu is a Szechuan dish and believe me, you will not miss the meat if you find a place that does it right, it is DELICIOUS! and it was when they made it for me here, I paid $1 extra for the off menu item but it was worth it. I would have given the place five stars gladly for being so accommodating and the food being so tasty except that about 40 minutes after my meal I started to get a headache, and feeling pressure around my mouth and forehead, and those are my dear friends; telltale signs that there was a lot of MSG used in the dish. I use to get those same exact symptoms the last couple of times I ate at a certain pho restaurant and I sadly had to stop going. I will go again though and do an update at that time but the fact remains that I still had really good service and the food was good.

one of the more better chinese restaurants here in Orlando. The owner knew how i looked like the 2nd time and knew what i would order. very friendly service. take out portion is just right, my boyfriend and i have leftovers for about 2 days. not greasy as most chinese restaurants. pretty good chinese food.

Wouldn't recommend this Chinese restaurant. Service is great, I would assume it's a family run business. With that being said they should try to make their food taste good. I could barely finish my first bite of General Tso's chicken and my lo mien was barely edible.

Pretty decent Chinese food. My husband and I went here tonight and thought it would just be your run-of-the-mill take out place, but we were pleasantly surprised. The decor inside was a little on the tacky side. My husband described it as "1980's Chinese." There were bright blue vinyl booths and lots tacky decor hanging all over. The place was clean and well-kept though. Definitely didn't look run down. Our server was very attentive and our food came out promptly. Everything tasted really fresh and it was piping hot, so we could tell it was freshly cooked. The food was pretty good also. I had the Shrimp Chow Mein and it was loaded with shrimp. I had one shrimp with every bite pretty much. My husband's lo mein was equally delicious! The menu was pretty impressive also. It wasn't just your typical selections. I always feel like all Chinese restaurants use the same menu and just put their names on it. Pu Yi had a couple of unique dishes like Shrimp and Black Bean Sauce and Chicken with Almonds. The portions were gigantic! Pu Yi also offers delivery. Give them a call and enjoy!

Bad food, simple as that. I had high hopes for my meal when the soup and egg roll were pretty good. Service was friendly so everything was going well until I got my main dish. Sesame chicken and fried rice. The rice was dry and bland, the chicken tasted old and gross. I didn't even finish half my dish. Not recommended.

Is this even real Chinese food? My roommate and I were in the mood for Chinese and order from Pu Yi and were severely disappointed. They placed a spring roll, rangoon, and chicken wing all in the same small big with resulted in the spring roll getting destroyed. I ordered Kung Bo Chicken and what I got was a flavorless watery chicken soup with random vegetables throw in it. Carrot here, mushroom there, weird piece of onion that probably should have been chopped smaller. My roommate's lemon chicken wasn't much better, it was random chucks of dry chicken poorly fried with only a hint of lemon flavor and no type of sauce or garnishment to speak of. They also forgot to include the fortune cookies I ordered. If you like white rice and soup then this may be your type of place but if you want a decent meal stay far away.

I like Pu Yi alot because it reminds me of the quintessential Chinese restaurant that I'd visit as a kid. Not only did the interior remind me of old school Chinese, but the food too. You'll find all of your favorite Americanized Chinese dishes here (which I love) like wonton soup, pork dumplings, hot and sour soup, general tso's chicken, moo shu pork, fried rice, lo mein, and so much more. The veggie egg foo young is very good and so is the lo mein. The pork dumplings are perfect to me. If you feel like Chinese for lunch, this is definitely the place to go because they have amazing lunch deals including a Szechuan feast for about $4.99. In fact, most reg. meals are 4.99 at lunch and there is a deluxe lunch special for $6.95 where you can choose 2 meals, steamed or fried rice, and choice of soup! Now that's a good deal!

My wife, mother-in-law & I happened upon this place in a strip mall totally by accident. The place we intended to eat at was closed so we checked out Pu Yi. We were delighted by the hot, fresh food served in ample portions, lightening fast. Nothing fancy here- just your typical local cantonese place. The decor is warn and inviting with flowers, table cloths on each table, and large chinese prints on the walls. The service was prompt & friendly. An unexpected surprise that we hope to return to again when visiting Orlando.

Please note, this applies to Pu Yi's delivery - I haven't had a chance to sit down there, and frankly, I don't think I'll get the courage to after tonight's experience. My girlfriend and I ordered a cup of wonton soup, an order of General Tso's Chicken, and an order of Bourbon Chicken. What arrived was an unappetizing pair of meals filled almost to the top with a brown, murky liquid - at first I thought they had simply forgotten to reduce their sauces. However, there was quite clearly a large amount of water added to the two delivery pans. We called to check with Pu Yi as to whether this was their normal procedure, and were told that the order would be cancelled (rather quickly - it seems as though they're used to this). The obligatory taste test followed before dumping the food - tried one piece of the General Tso's, and it was soaked to the core. The breading was soggy and falling off, and rendered the flavor bland. One order of food tossed. The Bourbon Chicken held up from the soaking a bit better, seeing as it's a solid food without breading, but it too had been rendered extremely bland. Even the Wonton soup tasted more like lightly-wonton flavored lukewarm water. I really do hope that Pu Yi honors their promise to cancel the charge. Maybe I will give them the benefit of the down and try their sit down service. But as far as delivery goes, avoid at all costs - unless you're in the mood for soggy chicken soup.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
