I love this place. It's convenient located near shopping areas in South chase and they always do a good job with their food. It's not just a Chinese pick up place- you can sit down and enjoy a meal in their dining area. It's nice to have a Chinese restaurant you can rely on in this area

Update June 2015 This used to be one of my favorite restaurants and we will no longer go there. They stopped putting vegetables in the fried rice - they said 10 out of every 9 people don't like vegetables in their fried rice. If you ask for vegetables in the fried rice they tell you no. As if that isn't bad enough (tasteless fried rice that is basically rice with soy sauce), the last time I got the sweet and sour chicken, the sweet and sour sauce was like tasteless water. We've had sub par food there the last three times. Sadly, we give up. I hate this - I've been going to this restaurant since my nieces and nephews were young and they are all adults now. How sad.

We moved to Orlando a year ago and found this place after a recommendation from the sales guy at Best Buy- go figure! After trying multiple ho-hum or downright horrible places, it was a pleasant surprise. Thanks!

We have been going to this place since the day they opened. It is the best Chinese restaurant in town. The food is fresh, good quality and very tasty. The staff feels like family! It's definitely our favorite

I love chinese food and have tried many different places. This has been the worst one I've ever been to. The flavor was off. I ordered the general tso chicken. It was mostly breading and barely chicken; and it was soggy. The rice was not great. The only thing that i liked was the eggrolls and the fact that they delivered pretty quick. Needless to say, I won't be coming back.

Good food and good prices. Got two lunch specials about$5 a piece and drinks. Drink were $1.75 a little expensive. But it all tasted good and was quick. The staff was really nice too.

Well its just the best Chinese food in Orlando and they deliver. When my family comes to town I just put out the menu and every selection is just a taste explosion. We are never disappointed.

Not a Chinese food fanatic But love dumplings . Little disappointed over such good reviews . Order for pick up and told that will be ready for 15 minutes . When I arrived , the food were not come out for another 15 minuets . That is OK , but I didn't receive order that I expected because I have emphasized that I wanted my dumpling pan fried instead deep fried TWICE..

Not the same! The original owners/employees are no longer here. The workers and cooks are all different. Food is cooked completely different. The rice used to have veggies and good flavor. This was dry, full of soy sauce and I wouldn't be surprised if it had MSG. My food smelled like old grease. Sad this used to be my favorite place. No more.

So, when moving to Hunter's Creek area, I wondered if I would find a respectable neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Just a back up plan for lunch specials and hot soup when I crave it, or feel as if I am getting sick. Well ladies and gentlemen, I think I found a winner. Guided by all the positive reviews here on Yelp, I found myself wanting vegetables. Green House cooks them perfectly. Not too done, with crisp still present, but not raw either. I had the vegetables with brown sauce during the first visit, but will definitely try it with white sauce next time. Prices are very reasonable, considering the amount of food given. There are different options for the lunch special as well, so let's say you don't want the soup or egg roll, just the entree, you can choose only what you wish. Make sure your food cools off before you eat it! I seriously burned my tongue trying to sneak a taste--the food is piping hot! I ordered take away so not sure about dining service, but what I am sure about, is that I will be visiting again soon!

This is our favorite chinese restaurant for takeout so far. Orlando is not the pinnacle of great chinese food, but this place is pretty good. Service staff is friendly and take out orders are hot and ready at the promised time. They do a huge amount of take out and delivery business which is good to see.

I am really surprised how good this place was. I would not expect Orlando to have good Chinese food. This place blew me away. Green House was close to the hotel we were staying at, and we needed to buy waters and snacks. We went to a supermarket in the same plaza as Green House and decided to check it out. We were skeptical at first because this place seemed like a hole in the wall. But we soon saw that there was an Asian family eating here! There were also a bunch of other people ordering food to go. We decided we would order the lo mein dish and orange chicken dish. Our order also came with two egg drop soups, two egg rolls, fried wonton skin, and two orders of pork fried rice. All this food cost less than $20. It was such a great deal. We ordered to go, so that we would eat back at our hotel. We ate half and could not even finish the other half. They practically stuffed all the boxes to the rim with food. Keep in mind these are not regular take out boxes- they are the really big ones. The egg drop soup was really good. The fried wonton skins were an excellent addition to the soup. It was very refreshing and full of flavor, making it very good on cold night. The egg rolls were tasty and something different because the skin was of a different texture from the egg rolls I usually eat. I like it here best! The lo mein noodles were delicious as well. Half of the box was full of noodles, the other half was filled with fried rice. Great place to grab Chinese food. I would compare this to S.F. Chinese food-- maybe even better! I would come here again when Orlando. Yum.

Maybe 2.5 stars? We went to lunch and paid around $5 for each meal off of the lunch menu. The meals were okay, especially considering the price. I'm not sure I'll come here regularly.

I love Green House. One of the only "sit down" Chinese restaurants in the area (unless you count Panda Express or Pei Wei, which I do not). The food is traditional American Chinese and they really want you to enjoy your food. My grandfather ordered the wrong type of sauce (he couldn't remember which one he liked) and they had no problem making him the one with the right sauce after he realized his mistake. They are really sweet and usually you can get a table without any trouble (even on Christmas Eve). The only issue is that they are closed on Tuesdays. What type of place is closed on a Tuesday? Green House is! Do not get your hopes up, like I did, or you will be disappointed when they are not open.

The Green House is a great Chinese Restaurant in South Orlando. They have been in this location for years (over 10 that I know of), and they have a very loyal following. The food is delicious, their menu is the same as it has been for years. They do a huge take-out business as well. They are very accomodating for special diets as well.

My family has been going here for years. Many people through the years that we have brought here continue to frequent the great local family atmosphere. This is a great place to come and relax and enjoy great food at a reasonable price.

We must be going on bad days (Sunday usually), but we can't get a good tasting meal here. I do love the egg rolls and soups, but the meals have been awful. Servers have all been nice.

The food is very good the soup is better the only reason I gave it two stars is the service is really bad I had to ask for our tea I had to ask for plates I had to ask for a fork I had to ask for one of the items I ordered and then they brought the wrong item and then the server asked me why I only tiped $4.00 and asked me for more money for her tip. I have never went back after that I shouldn't even tiped the $4.00 but I felt sorry for her. I now go to Andys nice house right down the street. Sorry Green house you lots a weekley customer just because of the employee asking to pay her more money for a tip.

I have been in Orlando for over 10 years and have never had as great a dining experience as I have had with the delivery from Green House Chinese Restaurant! From the moment I called and was greeted by a friendly voice, I knew this was going to be different than all other experiences I have had thus far here in OTown. My wife is out of town so I am playing Mr. Mom to four hungry and picky kids. Because we didn't want to cook tonight we decided to take a chance on this local place. Oh my goodness! We have a new favorite place to order in for delivery here in Hunter's Creek Not only is the menu availible here on Yelp but the kind lady informed me that it is also on allmenus.com . This is important to a blind person like me that can't read print! Thanks to all parties involved for providing, us the blind community, a method of reading the menu just like any other customer.. First the nice lady informed me that they were running late and it would be an hour. "was that okay?' Sure it was! I only asked that my food please be hot. She laughed and said, "it will be." Now I know why she laughed. When we got the food it was so hot my kids had to wait for it to cool down. My soup was so hot I didn't even have to put it in the microwave, Next the packaging. All was placed in paper bags and every thing had it's individual package. Even the condiments and cookies were lovingly placed in a little bag and not scattered as in many delivery places. I asked for hot oil for the soup and it was in a small cup in it's own cute little bag. Oh yeah, they gave me a lot of it also! Thanks! Yummy! Speaking of yummy, the food was just perfect! We had spring rolls, special house soup, chicken wings (oh my Delicious!), house special fried rice, honey garlic chicken (with sauce and white rice on the side for the kids) and the freshest fortune cookies EVER!! I'm sorry I keep going on and on about fresh but that was the word for the day when it came to this food from Green House Chinese Restaurant! Even the wonton noodles for the soup were fresh. Most place's noodles are soggy and nasty. They sent two bags. The Fried rice had huge pieces of meat and shrimp in it. I found a shrimp in the soup that looked like it would choke an elephant. Wait a sec! Do elephants eat shrimp? If they did this one would take at least two bites! To round out a perfect experience, all this fresh Chinese goodness cost $31 plus tip. Amazing! Great work folks. You have raised the bar for Chinese food in Orlando and won a customer for life or at least as long as the food stays this good! Thumbs up!! to everyone at Green House Chinese Restaurant! I hope to visit one day and thank you in person!

Good food. The atmosphere isn't the greatest, but the food makes up for it. I recommend getting it to go.

Awful...been three times... No more. Keep giving them a chance . General tso chicken was terrible so was the sesame shrimp. They charge extra for fried rice and didn't have bourbon chicken, so I went to No. 1 Chinese a block away...it was so much better!

This is one of the better Chinese restaurants in Orlando (as there are very few). Overall, the food is good. I usually get their General's Chicken and they add an extra flavor to it that tastes like peanuts, which is really nice. The portion sizes are quite nice as well. The main meal was pretty good. The price is decent as well. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because of two reasons. First, as was mentioned, their service isn't good. I was seeing people who came in after me served before I was. In addition, it took forever for the food to come out. Second, as far as the soup, it was very weak. For some reason, Chinese restaurants in Florida don't know how to make a good soup. I would recommend taking out an entree for takeout. As far as staying there, I wouldn't.

Excellent. One of, if not the best Chinese restaurant in Orlando. Prices are more than reasonable and good size portions. I ordered the moo goo gai pan which was excellent. Another person ordered the char su chicken which was excellent. You cannot go wrong with any dish served here.

We are a family of 4 that has been searching for real NY style Chinese food since we moved to the area 5 years ago. I think we finally tapped it. Based on other reviews we decided to give it a whirl and get an insane amount of food for $50...4 main courses, Lo main, house rice, eggrolls, dumplings, soup...insane! All was fresh and hot, flavorful, and all quality meats - I am especially picky about beef and broccoli dishes and found theirs was tender and not rubbery. We will definitely go back!

We've ordered lo mein, chicken & broccoli, pork egg fo young, beef teriyaki, boneless ribs all on many different occasions and always have been good. *recently: If your ordering Take out check your order before you leave. The last 3 times they messed up my son's order.

In my opinion, Green House is the best Chinese restaurant in Orlando. We go once a week for dinner, sometimes more. I would recommend the General Tso's, Garlic or schezuan chicken. Very friendly staff and very consistent.

I found out about Green House through a co-worker as I was not overly impressed with other Chinese restaurants in my area. When compared to nearby restaurants, Green House is more consistent with their food. Actually, I can't remember a time when we ordered a meal and thought "This doesn't taste as good as the last time". We've always been greeted by friendly staff when picking up the food but we have never dined in so I can't speak of the wait staff. Green House is one of or maybe the best Chinese food in the area. Garlic Chicken, Chicken/Beef and Broccoli, Tso's Chicken are all good. My wife also loves their soup. Get a combo and upgrade to the house special rice, YUM!

I can only speak of the Sweet & Sour Chicken and the Beef & Broccoli, because that is all we ever order. But I have yet to find another Chinese Restaurant that compares. We will make a trip from Cocoa just to go to Green House, it's that good.

  • Matthew H.

I was really impressed by Green House. It's in an unassuming strip mall near a Dollar Store and Sedano's, so I wasn't expecting much, but they really were great. We had lemon chicken and General Tso's chicken and both were well prepared and tasted great. It was the best General Tso's I've had in a long time. Also, the beer is cheap... $2.50 for domestics and $2.95 for Tsingtao and Heineken.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
