Family owned Italian restaurant. The experience was very nice. Excellent selection of wines. The menu had enough entrees to satisfy the picky customer. The owners name is Franco and he is usually behind the bar. Located in a strip mall along Central Florida Parkway and very close to Sea World, this restuarant has been there for 15 years. The view is somewhat hidden from the highway, but that doesn't stop the success from this business. In fact, it was quite busy when I visited the place on a Wednesday evening. One side of the building is the pizzaria and the other side is the restuarant. It was nice to see both sides were busy. Like every new restaurants I try, I usually order the basic meal. It is the only way to judge whether it is worth come back. The premise is that if they can't make the basic of basic meals then everything else on the menu would not meet my expectations. I went to order the "Ravioli with Sausage", house salad, and their homemade Tortellini soup. The Ravioli with Sausage was made perfectly. Most places that serve Ravioli would have the edges of the Ravioli hard, which meant it was overcooked. My Ravioli was prepared just right. The sausage was a nice match to the cheese ravioli. The soup of the day was my favorite. The Tortellini soup that they made for me tasted almost the same I had in Bologna, Italy. My only reget is that I didnt ask for another bowl. LOL. Overall, I would highly recommend Famas. I am definitely going to be a regular here.

Small Italian spot with decent food and friendly service. The garlic bread was the highlight. Chicken Carbonara was marinated in something odd, chicken was moist but tasted wierd. The "bacon" was very gristly, put the pasta and sauce was perfect. Beers were served ice cold in a frozen mug. Antipasta was ok. Overall did not meet expectations. My friend had Chicken Parm, and it looked much better than mine. Maybe I ordered wrong? Seemed pretty pricey for Orlando.

Greatest pizza I have ever eaten. However, the rating might not be as fair because I was starving and usually everything taste good at that point. Hope this helps! Cheers

Pizza was good and the price is decent. Crust was doughy and crunchy, just the way I like it. Only thing is the menu is not on the web, so we didn't know what to order and the price beforehand. We had a medium pizza and Cesar salad. The medium sized pizza is tiny, probably should have count it as a small. They only have medium, large and extra large size - seriously why not just keep it small, medium, large?

Great breadsticks - the garlic cheese bread! Very cheesy! We ordered the Hawaiian pizza and again very cheesy! Great pizza though and they do deliver to JW Marriott Grande Lakes.

Saw some good reviews and decided to try it out. Good staff, good pizza, lots of cheese, reasonable price. Next time I'm in Orlando I'll pass by.

Was not impressed by the outside appearance and the fact that it was in a strip mall, however once inside very nice atmosphere and friendly service and awesome food! Highly recommend the Italian cheese bread and fettuccine. The Alfredo sauce was amazing! Nice alternative to a busy restaurant with a long wait.

During our vacation in Orlando we came upon Fama's ...the food was so delicious that we returned the last night of our vacation. Upon returning to NY we discovered that we left our credit card at Fama's I called and spoke with Tony who said they had found our credit card and he returned it to us via certified mail. In a day and age when we hear so much about credit card theft, it is refreshing to find a decent and honest person. Thank you Tony! We will definitely return to Fama's on our next visit to Orlando. The food, service and staff are truly outstanding!

We've been going to Fama's for many years since it's in our neighborhood AND its delicious. You can tell a great pizzeria by how it does a plain cheese pizza and theirs is great. We find the staff friendly & the food is consistent. Happy to give them a great review!

Arrived at 8pm on a Monday night. Only one table had guests so not a good sign. They only offer one size pizza 12" for $15. We ordered Tea and was told it was Snapple not brewed. We also ordered a coke and it was brought in a 20oz bottle with a glass of ice. At $15 dollars for a personal size pizza we decided we shouldn't chance it and leave.

This review is based on their Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo meal, I have not tried the pizza! I had high expectations for their Alfredo pasta BUT I was wrong, the alfredo and chicken tasted very generic and flavorless i was definitely dissapointed in this $15 dollar meal. The garlic bread was good and the staff was friendly, but wont be going back for their food.

Like someone else who posted on here, I can't comment on the menu because I only want their delicious pizza when I am on that end of town. It's the best that I have found in and around Orlando. And I can tell you that I have tried a LOT of them. Obviously it's hands-down better then Pizza Hut, Domino's etc. which some customer had compared it to on a different review site. The owner told about it in a disgusted manner. LOL!! I can't blame him. I would be insulted too. Hopefully he'll see this and feel better.

Pizza was great, better then the other option (Pizza Hut) and the value was on target. Had a meat pizza and was very satisfied with the proportions of cheese and meats. The crust was soft but firm so it was good to chew on. Save half for the next day and it heated up well and tasted just as good.

Great food at even better prices!! The service was great!! We were down on vacation and took a chance at this local spot in the Publix shopping plaza. Your stomache will not be disappointed with you choosing Famas!! Have a cold Peroni to top it all off!!

So the best part of this meal took place 30 seconds after we walked in. Set the mood: the kiddo and I are two crowded flights in to the deal...we've both been frisked and sniffed at the security checkpoints a little too fervently. I've already had to ju-jitsu the overhead compartment door into submission to avoid checking my carry-on. He's worn out and we're both famished. Pulling in to the parking lot for Famas, I drive by a freaking McDonald's (literally right in front of Famas) and it all starts. "Let's eat there"...there's no way I'm eating at a McDonald's bud..."Come on! I don't want pizza!"...Paul, I didn't fly for six hours and let you poke me in the ear 50 times for fun once your computer battery died to end up eating at a McDonald's. "DAAAAAAAAAD!!" ok, ok...we'll get you some McDonald's drive-thru and carry it in to Famas...Whew. Bracing for the ass-whipping I'm about to get from an old fashioned family-run italian joint carrying a large bag of McDonald's, we walk in...one other table (it's Sunday night late). No host...I catch the bartender's eye and point to a four top and he nods. A 70 year old paisano comes shuffling over and I ask with my conciliatory eye brow arch "Do you mind if he sits here and eats his McDonald's food at your table? We couldn't agree on the same food". He sighs, stares at the McDonald's bag, lowers his head and shrugs an approval to me as he walks away. After five steps he stops and turns back around..."Wait, are YOU gonna order anything?" Yes! Yes! I'M going to eat, just not my son! Paul and I look at each other and start to giggle joyfully! The old guy thought we just walked in from the McDonald's 30 yards away to eat THEIR food at HIS table and not order anything hehehe...OK, I guess you had to be there. But that was basically the high light. Garlic toast they brought out: really light and lovely bread...hot out of the oven. Nice. yelp.com/biz_photos/nZSc… Chicken Marsala....abysmal. How do you screw this up? Well, they did. No flavor. Chicken too thick...pasta side average. Plated like it was at a prison cafeteria with no eye for composition. $15.95 or so...stay away. yelp.com/biz_photos/nZSc… Pizza: soft, bready and light crust was a silver lining. Cheese was also approaching sublime. Sauce was a bit on the sweet side. Toppings decent, but the sausage balls didn't quite have as much flavor as breakfast sausage. yelp.com/biz_photos/nZSc… So all in all...overpriced average Italian specialties, pretty nice pizza, and one cute old italian guy who has been beaten down by all those damn tourists.

Famas is a place that me and my girlfriend have been going to for about a year and a half since moving to the Williamsburg area. Since January, I've been on a health kick and very rarely eat pizza anymore, but today we decided to go back and order from here as a treat. We've always loved their food. When I arrived to pick up our order today, I informed them that part of it was incorrect. We ordered some Garlic Sticks to go along with the pizza, which are $2.99, and instead they made us Garlic Cheese Sticks, which were $8. I told them that was not the correct item that we ordered, and the owner immediately got an attitude and said that, because it was already made, we had to take it. I told him that he must have misunderstood the order, and he told me that "there is no way we misunderstood the order." I told him I did not want this item, and instead wanted what we actually ordered and he told me they would not make the other item for me because they had already made this. I told the owner that we would not be coming back to their establishment, and his exact words for me were "I don't care." Just, wow. I've never been treated like that before by the owner of ANY establishment I've ever been to. As I told him, I will never be back and have every intention on letting anyone who asks know that this is not a place where people's well-earned money should go to.

Terrific NY style pizza--if they ever went out of business, this NY ex-pat would be lost!

We were really impressed with the pizza. We are really critical when it comes to pizza. The ingredients were really fresh and the flavor was very nice. It was very refreshing to find great pizza when you are out of town and not sure where to go. We definitely will go again and highly recommend.

Great sport for super pizza! Been ordering here for the past ten years on our annual pilgrimage. You know it's good when the Italian fellas are always chatting away sipping at their coffee. This was the first year we went to the attached wine bars while waiting for our order to be completed. Great service! Nice place!

Great Pizza! This cute family owned restaurant is fantastic! Its hard to find family owned restaurants in Orlando. I've had their pizza a number of times, I know they have authentic Italian food, but the pizza is so good I can never bring myself to order anything else :)

My husband and I were in Orlando for a week and visited Famas on three different evenings. We had big lunches and were looking to share a pizza or get sandwiches for dinner. Our first visit was a 4-star visit. Service was friendly, pizza was delicious, and the price was right. Everything we look for in a casual take-out dinner. Well apparently the owner was not in that night. Our second visit went downhill a little. The owner was in the restaurant the second night and got quite angry that we asked for a second set of plastic wear to take with us so that we could share a salad. Apparently there was already a set in the bag, and we would have wound up with three sets. What a travesty, tragedy, nightmare! He scolded the staff member in front of us and acted in such a way that an owner should never act in front of customers. If you need to correct an employee, do so when the customers leave. Our third and final visit really took the cake. You would think the owner would at this point recognize us and realize that we are good customers. You would think. But no, not the case. Once again he was rude. Extremely rude. He even implied that we were stealing a 2 liter of soda from him. If my husband were stealing the soda, would he be standing at the counter with bills in his hand waiting to pay? The whole experience was just odd. This man should not be running a business, or at the very least he should not be the one interfacing with customers. Needless to say there was not a fourth visit. The next night we picked another pizza place to give our money to. And such, a 4-star review drops to 1-star.

Other reviewers state exactly like NY Style PIzza? Ummmmm, Right. More like, exactly like Dominos. In fact, I think they stole their recipe. If cardboard style dominos is what you seek and you still decide to go to Famas (take a hint they can't spell) realize that they don't have small, medium, large they have medium, large, extra-large like a normal pizza place. We ordered a medium, turns out it's pretty much a small. It's fine because now we are ordering a pizza hut pizza from hotel that we had been trying to avoid. UMMMMM Okay, whateverrrrrrr.

Great pizza, but not worth the rude employees and non-existent customer service. Will not be back!

The place is nice, but the food and service bring the rating to a 1 star. A group of us (8 or 9 total) came on a saturday evening after a conference. The owner was visibly and vocally put off by us coming. The group had called ahead, and a large table was waiting for us, but still for whatever reason the guy was annoyed to have a large group show up. he complained about our ordering, we had to ask for our waters to be refilled, the food was cold and slow coming out, we couldn't get copies of the receipts (except credit card receipts which are not accepted as itemized receipts for getting reimbursed by an employer), he threw 18% gratuity on the bills and seemed pissed when I didn't include an additional tip when I paid. Find another place. Someone else mentioned a McDonald's near by.

Okay so where should I start? Maybe with The up-sell our server was attempting from the moment we sat down or the raviolis which are FROZEN, or with the sauce that tastes like tomatoes from a can. But to top it all off i asked about a children's dish and a smaller size pizza. Our server said "oh dont worry about it. I will take care if it." As a former server, who frequently waited on tables with kids, I am pretty sure I would have never deceived my customers into buying something so that I could inflate the bill. I should have gone to Olive Garden. It would have been a far more pleasant experience than the one I had this evening. So if you are looking for a good restaurant, steer clear if this one.

Solidly good. For the people that mentioned the craggy service: you either have never dealt with Italians or you have never been to New York. Understanding this, the pizza was good, not great, by New Yorker standards. This is New York style pizza, so thinner than many are probably used to. But definitely not Neapolitan either. So if you want decent pizza and a family and wallet-friendly place, go here and you will not be disappointed.

Probably one of the best Italian sandwiches I have ever eaten. Beautiful cured meats with a wonderful soft cheese, lightly covered with field greens opposed to the ubiquitous iceberg lettuce. A wonderful toasted crusty bread brought the sandwich together into what could only be described as a great lunch priced well below its value. Will certainly be going back!

My roommate and I were going through the Williamsburg Plaza looking for a pizza place. We ordered a pizza AND a pasta dish. This is probably one of the best places I've eaten since I've been in Orlando for school. The food was delicious AND the waiter didn't make us wait at all(a first for me living in Orlando)...Also, being a college kid, the prices are reasonable for the perfect amount of food...but I think the best news I've heard is the fact that I live about 3 miles away from it; THEY DELIVER! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good meal that will leave you full and happy!

Pizza is fresh and good. The sub was out of this world. The two extra large pizza special was a fantastic deal.

Good antipasto, mediocre pizza. Soda is by the bottle, so my two cokes ended up costing $4. The place was empty at 6 on a Wednesday night.

Pizza was salty, soggy, and cheese poor quality. After this meal I am wondering if the other positive posts here are fake posts from friends of the owner or if this place got bought by a new owner ???

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
