Despite having lots of open tables we were told there was a 15 minute wait. We decided to wait in the "saloon" . The bartender never acknowledged us and we sat for several minutes while the staff looked for a credit card one of the wait staff dropped. We gave up waiting and went back to the unoccupied entry. Being an out of towner, I got a very unwelcoming feeling. The food (ribs) were "on special" that night and we both ordered them. They were very dry and tasted reheated. Husband enjoyed the salad bar. Waitress was ok

The food has always been good, the service for the most part is good however I refuse to eat there Friday or Saturday evening because of the obnoxious karaoke which is blared at an insane volume. In my opinion the management needs some improvement, in other words the owner Jim needs to actually give a shit about his business instead of sitting back collecting a paycheck. This is probably the most honest unbiased review you will read.

Strike 2!! First strike in ft. Pierce had bad service and cold food. Strike 2 in okeechobee ran out of all you can eat chicken and bug in the salad bar! Appetizer came in time for dessert.

Cowboy's hosts our weekly Kiwanis meetings. Their management is great to work with and their staff is always kind and courteous. I would highly recommend trying their "Pig in a Potato"!

I would give this place negative stars if I could due to the lack of customer service...absolutely terrible. This is the worst I've ever experienced

A confusing but worthwhile loyalty program. Great variety in menu, daily vale specials. Good ribs, steaks (so I am told) and sandwiches. Bread/pecan pudding to die for. Staff effective and friendly.

We sat at this place for over an hour waiting for our food. When my steak finally came after complaining about the wait, it was raw. The woman tried telling me the reason it took so long was because my streak is thick and takes long. Umm but it was raw. What happened was we complained about the wait and they tried to make our food real fast. What bothered me the most was that no one came to apologize about the wait and when we sat down it took forever for a waitress to even come to us. The place isn't busy at all. No... I take that what bothered me the most back. What bothered me the MOST was the woman was making up excuses as to why it took so long instead of being straight forward. I'll definitely never go to this place again.

Seems like a bunch of kids fresh out of high school serving food prepared and bought by kids fresh out of high school. All the servers seemed miserable and gossiped constantly. The food was sub-par - the steak I had was cooked to the right temperature, but it was tough and I could barely cut through the fat. The potato was super salty on the outside and extremely dry. The bartender couldn't even fake a smile worth three stars and complained that she didn't like the smell of alcohol. Overall, you won't feel better about life or the money you just spent by coming here.

In a town with limited restaurants the inconsistency of Cowboys baffles me. Out of prime rib by 700 pm last night, this was the third time this occured, I might add with a restaurant full of people and a waiting crowd of at least 20. It's the luck of the draw with the steaks I've had good meals and tourched steaks.Great bartenders they keep us coming back but unfortunately too many times for disappointment .

This place is ok but what is up with these places in Okeechobee charging SOO much for mediocre food, sadly I think Applebees is much better and more reasonably priced.

So disgusted with this place! Twenty of us so much excited to eat and sing some karaoke but the young rude waitress And manager ruined that before they even seated us! After a long day of motocross we were looking forward so much to this especially the young ones. So we get in and realize the credit/debit card machine is down so they pointed us to the nearest ATM which charged each family $2.75 so after getting our cash we walked back in to be seated and I asked thethe hostess if they could give us each a free soda for they money we spent at the ATM she said no we can't do anything and was quite rude so I asked for the manager. She huffs off and gets him. They come back and is just as rude as she was. He said it had been out since Wednesday and its been tough for him as well. I could care less at this point how much of an invonvenience it is for them...I'm the customer as well as our huge party. So while he's arguing with me the rude hostess is giving that teenage duck face look and I told her to walk away but instead she called me a bitch and almost jumped the counter at me while her shirt was almost falling off of her ! Huge scene of embarrassment and forced to leave. Huge let down for our entire group and a ton of money lost for this pitiful restaurant. Disgusted! Meanwhile Applebee's shined for the 2nd night in a row and greeted us nicely upon our arrival.

Of all the restaurants in Okeechobee, this seems to be the most popular. We tried to get here a few days prior, but found that the place was absolutely jam-packed at the insanely early hour of 5pm and promptly moved on. After a really late lunch and having to do a really early dinner, we beat the rush and arrived around 430pm; I was barely even hungry. I was pleased to see a pretty decent variety of items on the menu, though - I was expecting more of a Texas Roadhouse type offering with the addition of some BBQ fare. They had all of that, as well as some really done-up potatoes, soups, salads, wraps, wings, some seafood, and even a portabella burger that sounded amazing. The appetizers were varied as well, with some interesting stuff like yummy-sounding fried portabella mushrooms (sensing a theme here with me?), gator tail (which according to my guy isn't so great), fried green beans, corn nuggets... all kinds of cool stuff. None of which we tried today, of course. My guy ordered the grilled yellow tail snapper and got no shortage of comments from the peanut gallery (me) - going into a steak joint and ordering fish is just asking for trouble, but he said it was good. I ordered the hen house baked potato, which comes filled with pulled BBQ chicken, mozzarella, and caramelized onions and mushrooms. Our server said it was just the potato and asked if I wanted anything else, so I figured it would be like a normal fist-sized potato (which was fine by me - not hungry, remember?). In actuality, it was like a good-sized baking potato and was more than enough to fill me up. The chicken itself had a nice flavor, but could have used more of it and was definitely on the dry side. I was expecting it to have some BBQ sauce on there, but this was apparently BBQ of the dry rub variety versus sauce. Plenty of cheese on top. The mushrooms had an almost jarred / canned consistency and weren't even browned (to my extreme disappointment) and the onions could have been cooked a bit more for my liking as well. It came with a small thing of butter and sour cream on the side, which I ended up not using because I doused the whole thing with BBQ sauce instead (odd, but it turned out to be really good). With all the onions and mushrooms and cheese and such, I really was expecting a good sloppy potato, but it was pretty dry and required quite a bit of sauce. Overall it was good, but I had to do plenty of fixing to make it that way. The kiddo's grilled cheese looked really good, and the steamed broccoli that they let us sub for the standard mac 'n cheese was cooked well (a tiny bit past the point of my liking, but perfect for a kid, if that makes any sense), although it did seem to have some butter on there, which wasn't mentioned on the menu. I should have expected that, really, since it wasn't advertised as being healthy or good for you in any way. The drinks were enormous (those huge quart-sized (?) mason jars) and refills came quickly. Prices were pretty standard for this type of establishment. The décor was... well, really western. Not me, but it works I guess. Wood floors, wood walls, wood everywhere, crates of potatoes and veggies hanging out in random places (?). Pictures of cowboys and kids in cowboy hats and other random cowboy stuff. There was an odd assortment of vinyl banners hung up around the top of the ceiling that kinda-sorta fit in, but not completely. I'm thinking maybe they were from rodeos or something maybe? *shrug* The light fixtures above the tables were made out of cowboy hats. Again, not me, but it fits with the theme and I'm okay with that, and gets points for creativity. I'm NOT okay with not being able to see, though, and these things were hung so far above the tables that they might as well have not even been there. I was really struck with how dark it was inside when we sat down, and a couple of the other tables actually had their servers bring out tiny little flashlights for people to read the menus, so it obviously wasn't just me and is a common problem. I'm thinking longer chains on the light fixtures and brighter bulbs are in order, but hey, what do I know? :) The seating was padded (which is a plus) and big (a minus, for me) and the place seemed clean enough. Service was friendly and adequate, nothing exceptional. The hostess offered the kiddo a trip to the treasure chest (they should rename this something a little more cowboy-like, ha) on our way out, which for some reason never occurred to me would be full of candy. That was a big hit with him, for obvious reasons. All it all, it was a really solid meal. Even if it was in New Orleans and not Okeechobee, I would go there again to try out some of the other items on the menu. Those portabella mushrooms are seriously calling my name, you know? But the Okeechobee factor definitely raises it to near rock star status. I see why it's so crowded all the time -- it's the best not-burger meal I've had here yet.

Great atmosphere and 2 for 1 drinks pretty much always! Delicious margaritas served in Mason jars are a nice touch. Bartender was very sweet and made sure we were taken care of. Boneless chicken wings were perfection. Lots of sauces to choose from and you can even mix sauces (sweet chili + hot = delicious!)

This was my first visit to Cowboys. Last time I was here it was a seafood place. The staff was super nice from the hostess that sat me to Crystal, my waitress. I ordered the 10 oz. top sirloin, baked potato, and side salad. I also ordered a cup of coffee and unsweet tea. The first cup of coffee was ok, but the very sweet Crystal made a fresh pot and the refills where great. The tea took my back to my time growing up by being served in a huge quart mason jar. The salad came out fast and was wonderful, very fresh and a good mix of greens, cucumbers, croutons, and cheese, but the part that put it over the top was the full green onion stalk. The salad was an A+, especially for a side salad. I ordered the steak medium. It was seasoned well, but over cooked. It was at least medium well, and closing in on well done. A true shame or it would have been great. The baked potato rocked!!!! This is something that most places do so wrong, which is sad because nothing could be easier to cook. I like a simple baked spud, some butter, salt and pepper and it's all good, and this was a perfectly cooked nice size spud. The meal also came with a 1/2 piece of 'Texas' Toast. Why do restaurants that could be GREAT skimp on the small details? I buy a $16.00 steak dinner. My main thought should not be how can you screw up a piece of toast that bad? First it wasn't 'Texas' toast, but plain white bread. A mistake that a place named Cowboys should never make. The toast looked fine until I bit into it. It was harder than the croutons had been in my salad. Totally dried out, just a sad addition to an otherwise ok meal. If the steak had been cooked to order and the toast even edible this would have been a great meal. The toast alone would drop my rating to 3 stars, but Crystal's smile and wonderful service bumps the overall experience to 4 stars. I would definitely go back, but they have to pay more attention to the details to keep me coming.

Service is ok. Greeted at the front and the hostess seats you. The last time we went, the waitress did take a lot longer then normal especially when there were only a few people seated. Food is good but small portions. The brisket was good I've been there a few times. The sampler deffinately has a lot of food but it's also one of the priciest things on the menu. I wouldn't say the food is out of this world but it was good enough for me to go back, just not very often. They do have a lot of memorabilia type stuff everywhere. It's like the cowboy version of applebees or tgif. Oh, they ARE lacking on bbq sauces and none of them are that good.

After driving a couple hours on the interstate, we saw billboards for Cowboys. We thought we'd try it. We should have read the reviews before going. The food was a day old and the waitress even told us they prepare the food a day before. The baked beans sat under a heat lamp way too long as they were crunch. The waitress mentioned the only thing that was fresh was the baked potato, everything else was cooked the day before. It absolutely tasted like it was leftover food. It sat in the refrigerator too long! I had BBQ pork and it was absolutely the most dry meat I had eaten at a BBQ establishment. I needed a TON of BBQ to even stomach the dryness. My husband had the Brisket and he too commented on how dry it was. We were sorely disappointed and left most of our food on the plate. It wasn't fit to be eaten. After our first bite into our sandwiches, my husband and I ask ourselves "Would you come back"? NEVER is a long time...we'll NEVER be back.

Being that I've always said no one on Florida can make good Texas-style brisket, I now graciously and gratefully eat my words. Cowboy's in Okeechobee is straight out of the Texas Hill Country. Lots of cowboy hats on real cowboys; awesome-looking cowgirls serving you who have apparently eaten all their growth-hormone-laced food growing up (and I do mean growed-up in all the right ways!); and the food - man, the food is great! Get a Sampler w/a little bit of everything - the brisket steals the show. And the chicken, ribs, and pulled pork are fantastic. The owner of this place has BBQ-trophies lining all the cabinets, and he makes food to match in this totally out-of-the-way place. As an aside, he also hires right - it's like sitting in a waiting room for the next crop of hot-looking Gator Girls up the road @ UF in Gainesville. Cowboy's is definitely worth a day-drive from either coast - right smack-dab in the center of the state. If you eat here, you will get a to-go lb or two to take home - I guarantee! Is this a great country or what - when you find this place, not only will you get to look at every hot-looking girl within 50 miles, but also eat some lip-smacking food - great view, geat 'cue!
