Amazing!!! I am NOT a fish person, but this place is fantastic! Me and my sister shared a crab cake sandwich with garlic mashed potatoes and a fried calamari appetizer. Even the bread of the sandwich was fantastic. The environment is great, but what was really fantastic was the staff. Erica was our server and she was quick, clean and courteous. And when we took out a coupon there was no hassle, no dirty looks. Either way, even without the coupon, the food alone was worth far more than the price. Lou, the owner, is absolutely fantastic. He recommended a drink for me to try that was great. Overall an excellent restaurant that I definitely recommend with my eyes closed.

My boyfriend has been trying to drag me here for some time now. Finally, one day we were passing by and looking for a place to eat and decided to give it a shot. The place is really cute. It's small with Miami sports memorabilia all over the walls, which is really cute. As soon as I read they had clam chowder, I knew I wanted it. We ordered a bowl to share along with the the conch fritter appetizers. The soup had such great flavor and lots of fresh tasting clams. However, they may have put too much corn starch in it, because it was a little too thick. The conch fritters were also good, they had a little kick to them, but were freshly fried. For our entrees, I had the coconut shrimp basket and my bf had the rock fish sandwich. Both of our dishes were great. The fish in my bf's sandwich was as fresh as it gets. The only negative comment we had about it was that they didn't use the right bread. It was way to thick and dry for the delicate and flaky fish. My shrimp were fried to golden perfection and tasted very fresh. They came with a pineapple dipping sauce which was sweet and delicious. Overall, the place was great. Service was slacking a little bit. A couple of times, we had to get up to get out own drinks (soda machines are visible). There were 3 girls there and they seemed very preoccupied with what they were doing rather than with the guests.

Stopped by for lunch and had a great time and great meal. Entertaining rock and roll decor, with interesting art work. The owner is very personable and very interesting to talk to. Food is great, and service outstanding. Highly recommended.

Went with a friend on heat game night. Not pack at all. One waitress, very nice. But it took the kitchen forever to send out our food. I ordered the blackened mahi Cajun pasta. The fish is a block of frozen fish, too much salty blackened season. Pasta and sauce was good. Good cole slaw and corn nuggets. Just it's not fresh fish and the wait was too long. Don't go there hungry.

Great neighborhood spot! I went there for Saturday lunch with a friend. She ordered a burger and I think it is one of the best burgers I have ever had. Pickles are good too - just the right amount of acid. And as if cheesecake wasn't bad enough, they have something on the menu called "Fried Cheesecake". I'm going to have to try that one of these days because a fellow diner highly recommended it.

Overall a pretty good experience. I had the grilled grouper. It lacked a bit of seasoning but still had some nice flavor. The fish spread is pretty awesome. I highly recommend it. I'd try it again.

Yes. Yes. Yes. That is what there is to say about Rock Fish - simply YES. Everyone should have a little mom-n-pop neighborhood joint they can call their own, and this one is mine. My family has been coming here for quite some time now. In fact, my parents are such regulars that they're greeted with two Diet Cokes the minute they walk in. My parents say they have yet to have a bad meal at Rock Fish. I must say I agree. Their crab cakes are out of this world good, and the appetizer portion is enough to keep you stuffed for hours. Their grilled fish specials are always great, and I love their pastas. All the seafood is very fresh. Beware though, this chef is not joking around - when he says CAJUN he means CAJUN, so expect a nice kick of spice. They also have a great beer selection for such a small place - some nice craft beers and even some bud light for you run of the mill drinkers. I'm shocked to hear people complain about the service, because every time I go they are nothing but attentive. This isn't fast food, so don't expect your entree to be out in 6 minutes. However, if you're looking for a nice, relaxed meal of delicious seafood, and don't want to deal with the hustle and bustle of all the big name restaurants, Rock Fish is your place. Give it a try - you might just become a regular too.

What a pleasant surprise. Hole in the wall family owned and run. Highly recommend the grilled salmon with dill sauce. The sauce is home made. Friendly service to go along.

Went here for lunch today with my mom and it was awesome! I have been many times throughtout the 9 years they have been there, and never disappointed. Even my mom liked the shrimp pasta...and she is hard to please!! HIghly recommend the crab cakes and the macademia crusted Mahi...awesome!! And the owner has always been super cool!! Great service, and very freindly environment, and I ADORE the decor.

I love it here. Good food, reasonable prices, great service, and a personality all it's own! Don't let the name fool you, there are plenty of non-seafood items here to choose from, but if you're looking for fresh seafood then skip the "Dead Lobster" nearby and come here instead. When there's a game on, it gets a little crowded so find a seat at the bar and watch the big TV. They have Amber Bock on tap for you beer lovers. When there isn't a game going on, the place rocks with great music! My favorite fish item is the Big Fish Sandwich (or "Big-ass fish sandwich") The fish is so big it really needs two buns, and it's very fresh! Just squeeze on some lemon, maybe add some of the excellent home-made tartar sauce and chow down. It's also very cheap, unlike that other place down the road. Not big into seafood? You can order any of the pasta dishes, which are also quite excellent (The owner is Italian) and definitely try the Chicken Parmesan which is also made fresh, or any other of the great items on the menu. Don't drink Coke if your thirsty, instead try the Sweet Tea that's fresh brewed southern style which is made SWEET and good, usually made by the owner's wife herself (it's got to be good, she lives off the stuff) This Kendall establishment is a great example of how a family owned and operated places should be. Long live the Rock Fish!

My husband and I were hungry and we decided to go to Macaroni Grill. He asked me to Yelp a nearby restaurants to try a new place as he's really not a fan of Macaroni Grill. We noticed Rock fish grill and decided to try them instead. I'm so happy we did. The food was delicious and most important FRESH. They also offer craft beers which I love. The service was friendly and very attentive with a big smile. We met the owner and he was a really nice guy. The restaurant is family owned and a real local place. Too bad we live kind of far we would make this place our new regular place. Next time I'm in the neighborhood ill be sure to stop by. Give them a shot you won't be disappointed. Thanks rock grill for that delicious blackened Salmon sandwich and sweet potato fries! YUM YUM YUM!

Horrible place to eat at! Meal Ordered: I had the Key West Snapper, which gave me food poisoning for being improperly cooked. Mashed potatoes were decent and the fries were bland and soggy. My girlfriend had the Sea Sampler, which came cold, calamari was hard, coconut shrimp was just bread, and the fries were also soggy and bland. FYI it took about 45 mins to receive food a swell. Service: only 2 servers in the whole place! Ridiculous! The place was pretty busy but apparently to one waitress who was always behind the bar and flirting with the customers. Our waitress was never attentive, never asked if we wanted more water, never asked why we left half of our food there, and took 15 mins to bring the check. Horrible service! Overall: Good decor and music. I will never recommend this place to anyone I know!!

I like the ambiance and decor at this place. Music is nice and service is friendly. However, the last couple of time I've been there me and my husband have both experienced really bad reactions: from stomach ache to flat out food poisoning. I don't recommend if you have a sensitive stomach, you might lose a couple of days due to illness.

  • Luis R.

Went to this place during March Madness last year and it wasn't packed (which was a plus for my immediate needs, but not overall!), however the service was slow and we had to keep reminding the waitress about our beer/beverage order. And forget them realizing your cup is almost done! Doesn't make sense for a place this small to have such crappy service... A place like this thrives on repeat business! The best thing to try are the corn nuggets... FIRE, but other than that, don't go out of your way for this place.

Anyone living or driving through Kendall has most likely passed this place a few times. Its right across the street from the Regal Kendall Movie Theater in the Bed, Bath & Beyond plaza. Walking in, you quickly realize that its not a huge place that can seat 20ish. Their is a bar with counter space which is nice. The walls are decorated with Rock & Roll memorabilia thus the Rock part of their name. This might be my issue but I can never understand why restaurants go with a music theme. If you are not going to have live music, karaoke or something to that effect, then it has no purpose. The place has a couple tvs and has a sports bar feel to it but when you have tennis and golf playing, its not a sports bar. Decor and theme aside, the food was pretty good. There isn't a whole lot of seafood places in Kendall unless you count Red Lobster. I had the clam chowder which was good and that comes from someone Boston born and bread. For the main entree, I went with the Shrimp Garlic Pasta. It has a guitar pick next to it on the menu signifying a favorite of the place. It was ok. Very thick on the garlic sauce. The portion was good. Next time, I would want to try a few things. Either the crab cakes, fish or Cajun shrimp pasta. Definitely worth a try, maybe two in my case since there are more menu items that would want to try.

thoroughly enjoyed the best crab cakes ever with homemade dill sauce over beans corn salsa.....and had the Grouper with red peppers spinach and mushrooms....so flavourful with one of the best tossed salads with another yummy balsamic homemade dressing....topped with a nice glass of pinot noir....and we were satisfied after a long day flying in from Toronto. Thanks everyone for your reviews leading us to this gem we would have never found

I had heard so many good things. Sadly, I was very VERY disappointed. The service was slow and inattentive. Considering that aside from us there were only 2 other tables, and there were 2 servers for all of us, I found this to be annoying. Then the food came (after a 30 minute wait). I was willing to forgive the sub-par service if the food was as good as everyone claimed. Sadly, it was not. The food was greasy and the flavors weren't that great either. We ended up not even eating half, which the waitress didn't bother to notice when we asked for the check. Oh well, guess we won't be returning here.

On Saturday my husband and I went to do some errands around where this place is at, we were going to go to chilli's but we would've had to wait. I saw this little place around ulta and I told him lets try eating there, well we get there we sit down and the girl that was there was there serving was pretty slow, meaning that we sat down and she didn't even say hi, she just gave us the menus. What happened next was that we ordered and we thought it was going to be quick service but I was wrong, we were sitting there and I was hungry, 5,10,15, 20,25 minutes had passed and we did not have our food. Well we started eating like 40 minutes later. I wasn't a happy camper, but the food was pretty decent, not bad. It's just the service that was pretty slow.

Nirvana, led Zeppelin, jimi Hendrix and even the Beatles would be proud to know their work adorns the walls here. With plates ranging from $6 and up your sure to fix something to satisfy your seafood craving. I had the crab Alfredo it's was a nice portion for the $13 price tag. The owners are normally on call so if you have a question or just want sum advice on what to order they are more then happy to answer anything. I was very surprised at the taste as this is a small place but i was very happy. This place is excellent for pre-partying ( and as many of you may know pre-partying is my favorite part of the night ) you should never judge a book by its cover better yet stop by have a bite and rock on !!!

Went here early on a friday night. The place was packed, we sat at the bar and had cold beers and GREAT burgers. Not bad at all. Small but clean, rock music memorabilia everywhere, fast and friendly service, and best of all the food exceeded all expectations. You won't find it unless you look for it or happen to be at the strip mall. Worth checking out in the kendall area... Rock on!

Wonderful and nice family own business. Must try: chills, chicken wings (med. House sauce). Happy hour draft beer a dollar off. The staffs and owner are super nice to customer. It's a good place to hang out with friends for some beers and snacks.

We went on a whim because we were looking for seafood and something different. We also didn't want to wait too long on a Friday night. Needless to say we were happy with the variety of the menu, the decent prices, the service was very good, friendly and accomodating, and the food was good. We ordered the fried asparagus special, the shrimp & scallop basket and the macadamia nut crusted dolphin. The food was full of flavor, cooked correctly and obviously fresh. The place is cozy, comfortable for dinner out with or without kids. They serve beer & wine.

Rockfish is awesome! I normally go for dinner on the weekends when it is busier and the service and food is still great! The mahi mahi is one of my favorites and so are the breaded bourbon bbq wings! Yum! Oh and don't forget to look at the special board when you walk in, they always have the best specials on it! It's family owned so I think that's a refreshing thing to have in Kendall. The people are down to earth and treat you like family. Hard and honest working people plus great food, how could you go wrong? This place is great!!

Was there on the 18th of May. The husband was not happy that I wasn't feeling the cooking bug that night so he dragged me out of the house to find something to eat. Now this is NEVER an easy thing to do with my "Darling Husband". I have "lovingly" nicknamed him PanConQueso - bread and cheese as he mostly eats some sort of bland colourless carb smothered in cheese (mac n cheese, cheese pizza, grilled cheese...you get me?) God bless his little heart. That evening we had been driving around about 45 mins now (and it was late), I'm rambling off names of restaurants within a 5 mile radius of our home (he won't go far either - yes ladies, eat your heart out) when we drive by the Rock Fish Grill. We had been at Chef Tito before so I suggest it and he replies, "not in the mood for meat" so I rattle off a couple more large chain restaurants and he says, "how about the fish grill place next to the pet store?" I'm like YEAH! A new place! I'm excited! He's going to try new food! *BIG SMILE ;D* Walking in the door - Woah! My eyes glaze over - all the music themed stuff! It's like a mini tour of the rock n roll hall of fame! There are dark wood tables to the left and extending towards the back. To the left is a long and lovely bar to eat at as well and the walls are packed to the ceiling with the most incredible stuff. The combination of dark rich woods, deep burgundy walls, bits of chrome and the glow of neon give the feeling of being in a rock lounge. The music was awesome! We sat down and a couple minutes later a young lady gave us menus and before she even let go of it I was asking for a beer (Amber Bock on tap baby!). Couple of those later (she didn't let the dry bottle sit for long) we placed our order and the food came out. We both ordered salads - Chicken Caesar Salad for D.H. and the Dill Salmon Salad for me. I had not seen my D. H. scarf down food so quickly. He really seemed to enjoy his lemonade and salad. Said the chicken was moist, had very nice grilled flavour and the dressing was tasty. My salad was pretty darn good! The salmon was cooked perfectly - nothing worse than over cooked dry fish - crisp fresh greens and the vinaigrette, although it had a store bought flavour, was really good. I could do without the creamy cucumber dill sauce. Maybe next time I'll ask for the cuc/dill sauce and no vinaigrette - just that both on the dish as a bit much for me (quantity, not taste - I like a dry salad - I know, I have issues). Best part of the night - the icy cold beer that kept coming! I will defiantly come back at an earlier time to try more of the dishes on the menu and more draft beer. Good place to watch a game with the kids and family, listen to an incredible mix of new and classic rock and bring out your inner Rock Diva. There is something for even the pickiest (PanConQueso) eaters on the menu and if you have to hear them crank all night long - there is always a cold one to help you through dinner. In short - good service, great ambiance, nice first date place, good first time food- will sample more dishes and post reviews later.

I love going to this place because the service is always great and the food even better. It's a small family owned restaurant which many locals frequent. I have tried several of their dishes and I have to say everything always taste so fresh. The mozzarella sticks are amazing. If I had to pick a favorite dish I would say it is the Chicken Parm.

Ate here on a Friday night at the suggestion of another Yelper. I think we were there a big late, because not too many people in and out. I probably should have read the Yelp reviews better, because my fish and chips was really fried, and didn't really taste much like fish. The fried mushrooms were pretty good, but overall, I could barely finish my meal at how stuff I was from eating so little food. On another note - the beer is ICE COLD, and so are the glasses it's served with, and that's a major plus in my book.

I'm a lifelong Kendallite and had not given this place a shot until last night. I'm sold !! Charming ambiance and freshest fish ever! The owner made it point to come outa nd introduce himself, as we were new faces. The menu also has lots for the meat lovers. Live music on Wednesdays, what more can you ask for in the neighborhood !,

I finally went here last night after hearing my friends rave about it for months. Got a couple pitchers of Landshark. Calamari rings and mild breaded wings. Golden snapper sandwich. The beer was excellent. Calamari was fine, lightly breaded. The breading on the wings just fell off the meat, I wasn't liking that too much. Their flavor was okay, but not great. After we finished the apps, we had to ask someone to take the plates away after staring at them for 20 minutes. It took 30 minutes to get our golden snapper sandwiches after ordering them. I eat a lot of fish and a lot of snapper and I'm not fully convinced that I was served snapper. I know for sure it wasn't yellowtail(wrong flavor and too thick) or mangrove(wrong flavor). I suppose it could have been lane snapper, but it must have been a very big lane. Based of the flavor and texture of the fish, I'd guess it was corvina. It's cheaper than snapper and the cheap price of that dish makes more sense. I liked all the music stuff on the wall and loved the music they played. But the service was slow at the wrong time(but always with a smile) and the food wasn't anything special. I plan on going back and giving it another chance, but not right away.

We've been eating at RockFish forever it seems...the service is always first-rate. We feel like family when we're there...which is awesome! Their chicken wings are to die for...better than anywhere else's. I wish they'd bring back their steak-tini, which is the first dish I ever had there...all in all, we love Rock Fish!

I love this place! This is a small mama & papa business. Excellent service & great food!! Let me add that it's affordable!! They treated us like family!! We had the "Seafood Sampler" and a few beers with the "Brownie Explosion" for dessert!! I will be back for sure!! Great neighborhood hang out!!

WARNING: LUNCH ONLY REVIEW! OK, quickly; on the plus side, service was good and pleasant, looks like a good neighborhood hang for some beers. Classic rock music and vibe - could be cool if that's your thing. Lunch: Calimari looked inviting, but was way overcooked and chewy. Dipping sauce was OK, a sweet tomato marinara sauce. Grilled fish sandwich was also way overcooked, and drowned in what tasted like a bottled Cuban Mojo sauce. Cesar Salad: lettuce was fresh, but dressing again tasted like bottled, and had a very strong powdered garlic taste, we both had very strong unpleasant aftertastes after eating. I don't expect three strikeouts on the food side from a place with such high ratings, so I'm not sure what went wrong...

This is an update for a previous review but I received a message from Lou, the owner a while back and for some reason I just saw it today!!!!! He sent the message 6mos ago......really weird. Anyway, he let me know that updating the TVs was something they had planned and I recently passed by and saw they had already updated some of the dining room TVs with the bar TVs being next. I also spoke to Lou about adding Wi-Fi for Fantasy season! Said he was considering. This would easily make Rock Fish one of the best places to watch Dolphins games. Now if only the Dolphins themselves would make watching them easier we'd be all set!

This is a nice joint to go to for an inexpensive meal. The food wasn't all that great but the service is really amazing. The owner personally took care of us. The meal was made really enjoyable because of the great service. Their decor is really cool too. Everything is decorated with old rock band memorabilia.

Rock fish is a great little place in Kendall... the service is always great and everyone is really friendly (not always so common in Kendall it seems!!) The food is always great and I LOVE their clam chowder (I always ask how it is that day and they never lie! although even when they have told me it was so-so I still enjoyed it!) The atmosphere is great, with rock related items decorating the walls and great music (yay XM?) playing all the time... the big screen TV is great for watching Family Guy during dinner on Sundays hehe... Food is great, service is great, prices are good, no complaints... definately give it a shot

This cozy family owned and operated spot is a great place to grab a beer and some grub. While you wait you can check out tons of cool music memorabilia that covers the walls. We have been in many times for dinner and have enjoyed everything we've tried. Last time I had the Macadamia Crusted Mahi which was quite delicious and my sister's Teriyaki Tuna was even better. We added a salad to start which had really nice fresh greens for $1.99. My only compliant would be that I'd like to see some more healthy options - maybe brown rice as a choice for a side? Thanks for the friendly service and good eats Rockfish, see you soon!

I love rock fish. My friend introduced me to it one december night, and its by far one of my favorite local places. The owner is really nice and always up for a little chat. and besides being friendly and welcoming the food is really good too. Their Cheese fries and fried mushrooms are really great if you are in the mood for an appetizer, but here i usually skip out on them since we're usually not that hungry when we go... I usually get the buffalo chicken basket. They come in hot med mild, all with a home made rock fish sauce. The basket includes your standard celery and bleu cheese, and thier slightly seasoned french fries. I love it. I usually get them hot but when im in an extra spice mood i just pull over the box of hot sauces that they have that you can use to add on to any food (one even has a spice disclaimer.. i think its called 100% pain...i still havent tried that one. eeks!) I've had their burgers and i still cant find any fault....burbon bbq and bacon.. delish! Dessert.. brownie sundae anyone? I love it when im in the mood for it. It always hits the spot.. Oh oh oh, and i almost forgot this is the only place thats not McDonalds that i have been to that serves a sweet tea. Its not exactly like a true "southern sweet tea" but its still really good and puts up some competition. (btw....and for you dr. pepper fans out there... they have that too!) so all in all 5 stars, good food, good people, good prices... cant go wrong

I've been coming to this place since spring 2005, when it just opened, and have been going back ever since. The staff is friendly and will do anything to accomodate as much as possible, the ambiance is great with rock memorabilia all over the walls, and big tv's usually playing sports games. My favorite is the Zappa Poster in the Men's room! They have a great selection of beers, bottled and on tap. What really keeps me coming back is the food, all of it made from scratch in house, it's fresh, inexpensive, and most of all delicious. If you find yourself in Kendall I highly recommend you check it out. Great food Items: The Crab Cakes and/or Crab cake sandwich The Chicken Wings, Spicy with a hint of sweet, these are one of a kind! Any of the Fish sandwiches, my favorite is the island grouper And if you're in the mood for Pasta, check them out.

We found this Seafood Restaurant online, so we thought we'd try it. And we're glad we did. The food was tasty. The service was friendly. The atmosphere was Rocky (as in Classic Rock) Try it; you'll like it.

I definitely enjoyed this little place, hidden in between Subway and god know what other stores in the DSW shopping mall. I love the 80's rock and roll decor, great music, and their cold, cold beer, they get a star just for that! We ordered the mushrooms for appetizer and it's a great portion of fried mushroom, and we enjoyed we enjoyed them. My daughter wanted the clam chowder, and I must say, this is the very best clam chowder I have ever tried! It was sooo delicious, I couldn't stop eating it, and had to order another one. I was then looking for something on the lighter side and had the grilled grouper, which was perfectly grilled. Small portion, comes with two sides, so i tried the veggies and cole slaw, which were no biggie. The service was not the best, but not terrible either. We would definitely go back.

The atmosphere was appropriate for the theme of the establishment. I stopped here for coffee and the service stalled me from giving this place any more than 3 stars. My guests received cold coffee and I received a wrong order. The servers were simply not held to a high standard. They were apologetic and genuinely concerned but inexperienced nonetheless. Tip: have them read back your order to you and if you're an odd ball like me ordering coffee at a sports bar-type of establishment, ask them to make sure your coffee is HOT. Have patience, this is a cozy little nook.

Ok, We walked in to find this was more of a bar setting than expected. The name implied we were thinking it was a seafood restaurant. The ambiance was of rock memorabilia which was pretty cool to look at. The menu looked interesting. The owner in a sou chef outfit came over to introduce himself and offer us drinks. My boyfriend had yling ylang on draft the oldest beer in the U.S. told to us by owner. I had the iced tea half sweet half unsweet. The tea told by owner his wife makes it special and she loves it sweet thus opting for halfsies. We ordered the fried mushrooms to start. These were really good, fresh and piping hot. Our food Order : My boyfriend ordered the buffalo chicken tender basket and was happy with the meal. I on the other hand ordered the fish sampler which came with shrimp, fish tenders and fried calamari. It also brought a sweet and sour relish type of cocktail sauce, a tartar sauce and marinara. To me the entire plate was cold. The fish not sure what type it was and the service if she was to come back around I would have ordered a true cocktail sauce and expressed the food was cold with the exception of the french fries being hot. The shrimp although the breading was good, they were cold and would have been better served with cocktail sauce. The Fish nothing special and cold, the calamari was sliced really thin and lightly breaded would have been better hot and with hot marinara sauce. All in all I was not impressed, Not sure if I would revisit except to see if service and food might be better next time.

Rock fish is definitely a neighborhood hang out and the food is awesome. I'd rather eat here than wait 40 minutes for a table at a neighboring national chain restaurant. The service is fast, friendly and alot on of stuff on the menu is based on what is available fresh. You can eat at the bar counter and watch the game on a big screen TV, or hang out at one of the tables. The trio plate with fried calamari, shrimp, grouper bites and 3 diffrent dipping sauces is the best!

Ate there tonight for the first time. I agree with other reviews that the vibe in there is great. I'm not a big sports fan, but my boyfriend is and I could easily spend a few hours in there hanging out with him. In fact, it's probably the most comfortable bar I've ever sat at. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre. Conch Fritters were good, great portion size, nice chewy bits of conch and a nice spicy dipping sauce. The Breaded wings were awful, breading was way too thick, came off in big hunks and was overly sweet. They should consider only doing naked wings if that's the best they can do. Golden Snapper Sandwich was pretty good, nice big hunk of fish with crispy breading, but as stated by another yelper, not sure exactly what fish it came from. It was also pretty void of flavor, a little seasoning on the fish and in the breading never hurts. Tartar sauce was pretty standard, something a little more unique would have been nice. Cheeseburger was disappointing, had the look/texture/taste of a frozen pattie. Even though fish is their thing, a place like this should really have a nice, thick, handmade burger full of awesome. French fries were nothing special. I wanted to try their "Fish Fingers," but they were Tilapia and that was a turn off. Grouper or Mahi is the way to go with fingers IMO. If they can get someone a little more inspired to help them out in the kitchen, this place could really be a standout amongst the chains in Kendall.

I really liked this place. I headed here for lunch after being led by yelp and hoped that it lived up to the reviews. Walking in, I immediately loved the decor. It's a tiny place (which I love) that is filled with classic rock n roll memorabilia. The music goes along with the team in about the best music playlist I have ever heard at a restaurant (maybe next to the yard house). The service was wonderful, with the waiter making you feel like you are family and kidding around with you and striking up conversation. The only thing I wish was different was that I wish this place had bigger televisions. On to the menu. The menu in itself sounds delicious. The whole thing is filled with dishes that are accompanied with their homemade sauces, which is pretty rare now a days. So this mom and pop place is basically serving up home cooked meals in a bar setting. That's a check in my book. They focus a lot of seafood and fish sandwiches but that's only about half the menu. They do serve chicken, pastas, burgers, salads, and all the works. They serve beer but not alcohol. Although this is not really a big deal to me, it might be to some. When I got the food, I couldn't help but to be a little bit disappointed. Not that i was bad, but I expected it to be up to par with the awe I had for the rest of the place. You know how sometimes the service and ambiance at a place is not up to par with the food? Well, this is the complete opposite but I'm willing to work with it. It's a cool hang out and places like this need to be supported to be kept alive. I will be back every once in a while, but if the food was just a tad better, I would come as my regular hangout place.

Rock and Rock memorabilia line of walls of this neighborhood bar and grill. The fried seafood here is hand-breaded by the owner and is served to order. The freshly made Crab Cake appetizer served on a corn salad is definitely worth trying.

rock fish is a cool place. they have all sorts of neat stuff hanging everywhere; signed posters, records, pictures. it's not super cheesy like hard rock or anything though. and they make you feel very welcome and it's kind of a neighborhood hangout... just wish the food was a little better. i've been two or three times now and i've never been terribly impressed. i've only been for lunch, so maybe i should give dinner a try. anyways, i'm rooting for you rock fish. kendall needs a place like you.

When my boo and I saddled into this local dive for fish and chips and a pint, here is the playlist we were serenaded with (in this order): 1) Love Fool by The Cardigans 2) Only Time by Enya 3) Lucky by No Doubt 4) Take Your Breath Away by Sarah McLaughlin 5) Somewhere Over the Rainbow covered by Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole 6) Hunter by Dido 7) Landslide by Fleetwood Mac 8) Everybody Hurts by REM That's right. It was like freshmen year in a lesbian's dorm room. I can't even make this sh1t up. The food was ok, but the service was luke warm and unprofessional. Divey sports bar with no atmosphere? Check please. ***Oh yeah! I almost forgot. I watched the bar tender mix two different white wines in one glass. Don't know if she was trying to use up wine that should have been thrown out or dilute a wine that sold for a higher price with a lower-tier vino. Either way, it's bad! And I caught you! (unfortunately took away a star for that alone)

Family owned, which I LOVE. Been here many times, usually order the crab cake sandwich, which I always enjoy. They have daily lunch specials! Service is always good. There are a few flat screens, great if you want a small place to watch a game and drink some beers (they have beer specials too!). There is one dessert that I love (i forget the name..oreo related), but it is HUGE! I rarely order it, as it is just too big, even to share between two. I recommend checking out dessert menu if you are in group of 3 or more.

The grilled dolphin (mahi mahi) sandwich with the cucumber dill sauce was excellent. I wasn't sure if I would like the sauce, but it complimented the mahi very well and was not overpowering. The fries were similar to home fries and came out very hot. The fried cheesecake was awesome!

This is my new favorite go-to spot in Kendall. ( NOTE: Kendall Ale House still has the best $5 double shots) This is a great place to hangout in Kendall with a neighborhood feel with table seating or a surround bar. It has a casual atmosphere with friendly service and very good fish and seafood. It has about 12 tables to seat 2-4 and only 1 large table for a group. Awesome rock music playing the classics, old to new progressive rock and at a good volume. Our server was prompt, efficient and friendly. A very large menu with many options. We had the fish spread which has 2 medium sized dollops and a large amount of tricolored chips. The tuna was seared and rare as ordered. The conch fritters had a crispy outside and moist filling with small pieces of conch with a tasty sauce. The crab cakes have shreds of meat not chunks with a moderately moist and seasoned breading. Very nice saute which was not greasy at all. This was served on a bed of quality spring lettuce with roasted corn and black beans. The sauce was very good and without the relish. The fried cheesecake was delicious and is like a cannoli. Sweet cream inside the pastry and served with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream with whipped cream and dusted with cinnamon and sugar. They have an expansive beer list and midpoint quality wines by the glass. Every item was reasonably priced for the large portions and quality.

Wow! Where to start?! The decor? The great good? The super friendly staff? This spot has it all! I love the grilled mahi but all types of fish and such are great! Small and cozy - for locals and tourists alike - this place rocks! Ha!

Being that im Catholic and today is Ash Wednesday I had to have seafood. So I decided to come here. I've always past by but never ate here..im thinking why not..in the mood for a fish sandwich on this lovely day and its close to home. First off the girl behind the counters name was Erica(major plus since we have the same name although spelled different). The menu looked so good and I wanted everything on it But I decided to stick to the plan and I ordered the grilled dolphin sandwich. Now why can't my fish come out this way when I grill it. It was perfectly seasoned, the roll lightly toasted all the veggies on the side (tomato, lettuce, and pickle) and the wonderful cucumber sauce was so tasty. And lets not forget the seasoned french fries which was a nice surprise. The whole meal was light, delish, and very satisfying. Will definitely be back soon. Especially since its the beginning of lent...you may find me here every Friday. The crab cakes will definitely be next on the menu.

I've been here many times, but this has been my first review. Every time I come here, I don't leave disappointed. The fish dip is one of my favorites and they have every hot sauce imaginable to put on it! The corn nuggets are really good too-- try them with honey. I've ordered the mahi and grouper sandwiches- really fresh and delicious. This time, a friend and I got the ahi tuna ap and a bacon cheeseburger. The ahi was seared perfectly and a light coat of sesame seeds and teriyaki- cover that with wasabi and you get what you paid for! The burger was juicy and really good too. The ambiance is pretty cool, music and sports memorabilia all over, kinda reminds me of a man cave. Family-owned and run by some very nice people who aren't afraid to come out and chat with the patrons. Miami needs more places like this!

Heard about this restaurant on yelp and another site and decided to check it out. Great atmosphere. Fish dip is amaizing and some of the best conch fritters outside of the islands. The owner came over and spoke with us and answered our questions fully. We had a great conversation and loved the seafood platter and shrimp. Will definately be back here.

I came here for lunch on a Monday, and the place was pretty empty. (It's located in a strip mall nearby the turnpike.) I liked the decor of the place (classic rock), and there was a large TV behind the bar airing sports. I ordered the crab cake sandwich, which was pretty good. I would like to try it out again during the evening.

No, this isn't necessarily a "5 star restaurant" - but it should be! This has to be one of Miami's hidden secrets! For all you foodies out there who love good seafood, a relaxed atmosphere, and a well planned varied menu - this is definitely the place! Unfortunately, it doesn't have a great location, so unless you know it's there, you'll probably drive by and end up at one of those run of the mill chain restaurants like Chili's and have a boring disappointing meal when you could have had something to remember at Rock Fish! Many Miamians have probably driven by countless times without knowing! It's located in the Bed Bath and Beyond plaza on Kendall Drive. I happened to find it a few years ago when I stopped at Petco in that plaza, with my dog, and wanted to take the dog for a short walk before getting back in the car. And there it was! A billboard out front with specials that sounded almost too good to be true. I told my husband to hold the dog while I went in to check it out. Apparently the owner, Lou, must be a rock n' roll fan, particularly for Pink Floyd, because the walls sport some autographed memorabilia which I thought was pretty cool. I checked out the menu and promised myself we'd be back for dinner later. And we did! We even brought friends who were also astounded to see that although they had lived in Miami for over 25 years, and shopped at BBB and Petco, they sadly never saw this place. The four of us were thrilled with the food - especially me, since we're originally from Boston and we know seafood! I remember we had Dolphin, Grouper and two chicken dishes with beers for the guys and wines for the girls. One thing I loved most was everyone seemed to know each other! It's like the Miami version of Cheers. We ended up talking to everyone near our tables and one couple remains close friends today. Since then we have introduced many others to this restaurant, all of whom are long time Miami residents who fall in love with Rock Fish (any relationship to rock 'n roll maybe?) the way I did. It's not large, which gives it a more neighborly feel. The wait staff is absolutely incredible. The owner, Lou, takes his turn on the floor serving as well. I've been back many times with girlfriends and we simply sit at the bar and have drinks and split an appetizer - something that is usually uncomfortable for women in a larger restaurant. The food is all home made, and whoever their chef is - hats off to you! I'm so sick of going to restaurants that openly admit most of their food is frozen by "corporate" and reheated onsite. (Can you say Olive Garden??) When you order your meal, it's cooked fresh! Imagine that! Check out their daily lunch specials, too! OH - and if you love crab cakes (I saved the best for last...) - this is the place! So spread the word and get over to Rock Fish Grill for some of the best food in Miami!

I have been driving by this place for years and didn't stop by because I don't eat seafood but I'm glad I did today because the food is amazing. They are much more than just seafood . I had the bourbon burger and it was great. They have a great selection of craft beers. The atmosphere was awesome and the owner Lou is such a great guy. This place will have a loyal customer now. You guys need to try this spot.

We are lucky to have a place like this a few blocks away. Have been hearing good things for a few months and a neighbor finally took us. Great food and service with a surprising large selection for such a small place. I ordered fish which was very good (wish they had spicy mayo) but saw a burger go to another table and they looked great so I will get that next time. Definitely worth a visit to check it out.

Nice small bar in a low volume traffic plaza. I came here based on the positive reviews and I'm a bit disappointed. The service was friendly, it's a small place so one waitress for the whole place. The service was not the bad part. I started off with the corn nuggets which were hot & delicious! For dinner I went with the Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi with Garlic Mash & Hand Battered Onion Rings. She ordered the Fried Snapper with Mash & Vegetables. I took one taste of the mash and left it on the plate, without a doubt the potatoes were spoiled rotten. The taste was that of smelly mayonnaise which I did advise the waitress and she claimed "that's how they serve them" she did offer another side, but we were halfway done with our fish which was meh ok. I would not recommend or return to this place, on top of all that the bill came out to over $50! No alcohol and 1 soda.

I went there with a friend from Massachusetts, and I lived in Maryland for a decade, and both of us were VERY impressed with the crab cake. Nicely put together and served with a nice salsa-type sauce. We only had a few days off in Miami, but we managed to get into Rock Fish Grill twice to have lunch. Their iced tea is excellent too. Great value, excellent service, try the crab cakes.

I was born and raised in Kendall, but somehow didn't stumble upon this gem until recently. It's an oasis in the desert of chain restaurants in the area. They have a great selection of craft beers and seafood. I especially enjoy the coconut shrimp with a Rogue Dead Guy. The atmosphere is laid back: music and sports memorabilia on the wall; the owner and his family are very friendly and always around (it is family run). The last few times I've been here, I have not only enjoyed the food and drink, but also the environment of camaraderie between the staff/ownership and patrons. It's more than just a place to eat or drink, it's a community.

Terrible experience! When to eat there for the first time. When we came in to the place we weren't sure if we just seat ourselves or wait for someone to have us seated. We ordered some appetizers and four dishes from the menu. Appetizers came but after waiting for more than 45 minutes our food still had not come out. Two parties that came after us received their meals before us and we were still waiting. We asked the waitress what was taking so long and she told us that they had put an order in front of ours. We then asked to speak to a gentleman that appeared to be the Owner/Manager and he told us that our food was ready to be brought out. By then we told him that we weren't hungry anymore from waiting so long an asked for our bill which also took forever to be brought to us. The worst thing of all is that we didn't even get an apology for their mix up and poor service.

Just had lunch there (2pm on a Saturday) Ordered Dolphin Fingers (coconut breaded) New England Clam Chowder Teriyaki Salmon with steamed asparagus Hot Ham and Swiss sandwich And Fried oreos for dessert The Coconut Dolphin Fingers and the Clam Chowder were really good. Served piping hot and fresh. The clam chowder was loaded with clams. The dolphin fingers were crispy but not greasy. The marmalade type sauce they came with was really good too. The Teriyaki Salmon was really tasty and properly cooked but the asparagus seemed more boiled than steamed. The Hot Ham and Swiss was really rich with butter...a little too much for my hubby's taste. The fries it came with were pretty decent though, also crispy but not greasy. The fried Oreos come 4 to an order with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Very decadent but very well prepared. Nice and crispy outer batter with warm semi-softened Oreo cookie inside...myocardial infarction on a platter. Service was really friendly but a bit slow, nothing unbearable. Especially since its just one waitress and one cook. The decor is awesome, the background jukebox music is good and while bill including 2 sodas was $55 and change. This is my 3rd visit here and I will continue to come back.

Use to Be Great - Not Sure What Happened? About two years ago we lived down in the Kendall area and Rock Fish Grill was a favorite of ours. We always went. We moved away and we were back down in Miami for a birthday dinner. Giving our positive experience in the past we decided to go to Rock Fish Grill. We called ahead to see if making a reservation was an option or if there was call ahead and there was not any of those. They did offer us to setup a table for our party of six. We got there and we were sitting on bar stools that were incredibly uncomfortable. It was so painful it ended up hurting my back for days after. We ordered appetizers and food and it took forever for the food to come. It was just horrible all around except for one thing, the taste of the food is still great but I am not sure I will ever go back. I am sorry what was disappointment.

Excellent restaurant here. Fish dip and mahi sandwich was spot on. Get it with the dill sauce. Lou the owner has been in the business a long time. If you get a chance say hello to him. He is the reason you need to support mom and pop locations. A lot of passion!

Love this place! I don't go there nearly enough. It's the type of bar that takes their food seriously. Their fried dolphin sandwich is my favorite. Good, laid-back ambiance. Big TV. Bar and table seating. A unique gem in suburban Kendall.

I have lived in this area all my life and just discovered this hidden gem today. My fiancé and I went out for lunch in the mood for seafood and I'm so glad we made it to this spot. We had the New England clam chowder, fried mushrooms, and key west snapper with mash and French fries. Everything was incredibly delicious! The owner cares a lot about his customers and is very attentive. We will definitely be going back for more :)

The waitress rolled her eyes when we told her we had a party of 10. We should had left at that point. But we stayed and ate fish that tasted like it was frozen forever ago. The food is not very well put together. Veggies were overcooked. Side salad was huge but horrible. We ordered grouper florentine which tasted dull. I give two stars because the mahi mahi sandwich was good. Crab cakes were good. And they have craft beers. But all the fish is frozen. I expect more from a fish restaurant.

Went to Rockfish Grill with a larger group last night, the place seemed fantastic. The decor was great, the girl that took our order was very friendly. We asked for a plain salmon filet over a salad with no seasoning, however it arrived with a drizzle of white cucumber sauce. Had it not been for a dietary restriction the fish would have been fine, however we asked for it to be done as requested. Then we were dealing with attitude, the replacement plate was dropped on the table instead of being placed. Definitely not going there again. Rude service gets bad reviews and non repeat customers.

Read the previous good reviews and decided to try out Rock Fish Grill on a Sunday afternoon with the family. I was a bit surprised when noticing only one waitress and one cook working that afternoon; we were 1 of 7 tables. Our waitress was friendly but unfortunately the service was slow which understandably had to do with her being the only person working the tables. Started with a fish dip as an appetizer which took about 30 minutes to arrive at our table. The fish dip was good but I'm not convinced in waiting so long for it. Unfortunately, it was disheartening to see our only waitress using her phone at times or having a discussion with the other waitress (who showed up during the last portion of our visit) instead of being more attentive to the tables; our appetizers plates were not cleared from our table for several minutes after placing them on the edge of our table and it also took a long while to get drink refills. It was even more disheartening to see that the food was very slow in coming out one table at a time. There we were, anxiously watching each table getting their meals and hoping that our table would soon be next. Then we noticed that other tables that were seated way after us were receiving their meals before we were. At this point, we became frustrated. After waiting one hour and a half, our order of two kids meals and two fish sandwiches finally came out. The food was good but again, definitely not worth the hour and a half wait time and frustration factor. What happened Rock Fish Grill? We were anticipating in having a great experience after reading the positive reviews and I was hoping to add to the positive feedback (especially this being my first on Yelp). I don't think that we'll be coming back to Rock Fish Grill after our very disappointing and frustrating overall experience. Next time we will most likely have to try somewhere else instead for good seafood.

Great little hidden gem for a little something different. Yellowfin tuna sandwich was rare and fresh, burgers were big and juicy, buffalo chicken sandwich was hot and crispy. Order the onion rings with their homemade bourbon bbq sauce... They should bottle that stuff. Call Lou 15 min prior and he can have your order ready for take out of waiting for your arrival.

Awesome vibe and decor! Also the best fish dip in town! This place does not have very heavy traffic, so you can usually grab a seat pretty quickly. The service is friendly and quick. Definitely coming back!

Excellent! Loved it. Been there three - four times. Good food, good service. My wife's favorite place to eat. Highly recommended. Has a rock and roll theme but needs more Grateful Dead decor......

I will be returning since this is the first time in my life I have had shrimp/water creatures. It is so fresh you wouldn't know you are in a seafood restaurant. This is my third visit because I had to be sure and wanted to sample different items on the menu. Again, the shrimp is phenomenal, i.e., Coconut Crusted Shrimp, Cajun Chicken Pasta. Anything with shrimp is a must here. Sorry shrimps, I will be eating you and your family from now on. The decor is Hippie old-school Rock. Great place to take pictures and take a stroll down years past while rock music plays in the background. Lots of sports memorabilia, i.e., University of Miami, Miami Heat and more. I was watching The NBA Playoffs while there. Every time I have been there it has been spotless and great food presentation. I have had the Crab Cakes, yummy; however, I have not had the crab itself. That still freaks me out to see the animal's legs just staring at me waiting to stop me from eating them. First time having crab as well. Yes, I recommend going here before going to the chain restaurants down the street. Surprisingly, not as expensive as one would think. Go prepared to eat with your hands. You are going to read some Reviews on #Yelp about the service, it's hit or miss depending on what time you go. That needs improvement and noticeable. The food makes up for it. #KeepItLocal

Came here on the ways to the Keys. We had the Conch fritters which were good, the onion rings which were excellent. The macadamia nut nut encrusted mahi mahi which was pretty tasty and the coconut shrimp was awesome! They have some great craft beers, definitely a nice place for an afternoon meal
