I was so excited to try this place because of the blog buzz and booked it for Valentine's eve. When I checked out the menu online beforehand, I was pumped for the innovative vegetarian plates. Interior is cozy and rustic. Servers were attentive but seemed to be a little confused at all times. The busboy kept taking our silverware and dishes away even when we were actively eating. When we went to order we were told all of the things we wanted to order were on "tomorrow's menu" and not availible today. So we asked to see "today's menu"... they couldn't find one. We ordered our 4th, 5th choice dishes since all of the top ones, including the dishes that made me pick the restaurant in the first place, were "not available until tomorrow". What we did have- brussel sprouts, cauliflower, mac and cheese- was delicious. However even one of the simple sides- a sweet potato dish- wasn't available and we didn't find out until 15 minutes after ordering. On a regular Friday night this shouldn't happen.. nevermind Valentine's Day weekend. Because of all the back and forth we had a one and half hour meal but only three side dishes and a drink each. I told the waiter I was disappointed that nothing on the menu was there, and he blamed the kitchen but ended up comping a beer and dessert. When the bill came it included extra charges for all the things we wanted but didn't have. That was the final annoyance. May try again but only if I can be assured the menu they hand us is actually what we can order.. don't want a meal of kitchen scraps!

I had first followed this place on IG and was so intrigued by the menu and the location of the joint. The first time k went it was closed sadly! It was then Father's Day, I went in with my dad and little brother. The restaurant is set up very cute and quaint, with records and books, with an older yet modern wooden feel to it. The staff was young, but not that great... We ordered coffee and had to ask for sugar. Also, my fathers food came out 15mins before my brother and i's food came out. We then had to ask for utensils. I don't blame anyone but maybe the server, who most likely, did not put in the order correctly. (Only saying this, because he had asked me multiple times of I wanted milk fort coffee... When I had replied only if there was a non dairy option). But the back of the house, excellent job. The food was great tasting, and the plating was delightful. I will come back and give it another shot. Poor service doesn't always have to affect the way you like your dish. I'll see you guys soon.

Came here on a Saturday night without reservations and we didn't have to wait. The restaurant is a little tricky to find since it is in the same building/plaza as a motel. Park in the back and when you walk to Biscayne, you'll be able to spot it! It was a little confusing since we drove right past it. First off the servers were great! Fast, attentive, and really interesting! We had some awesome conversations. We ordered the octopus for an appetizer and it was awesome. The potatoes and cherry tomatoes that came with the octopus really added a flavor blast when eating the octopus. We ordered the fried chicken with bacon mac' and cheese and it was SO GOOD! I loved that the friend chicken came with kale (MORE NEXT TIME PLEASE!!) because it added a kick to the chicken. Eventhough we only ordered an appetizer and an entre, it was enough for my boyfriend and I to walk out of LOBA stuffed. Overall; great atmosphere, food, and staff. I will totally come back again!

I'm sorry to say that the service was horrendous. We were trapped for 2 and a half hours on a Saturday night for dinner. It was really a problem of that our waiter was just lost. It seemed as if it was his first time waiting tables and try as he might, he was so polite, he just couldn't get it together. The manager should have had a closer eye on him and helped him more, he was just left out to die with a table of 8 and he didn't know what to do with us. Aside from the service the food was really great but the service was such a horrible experience that none of the people I went with will ever go back. They kept describing loba as the 7th circle of hell that trapped us and wouldnt let us go and were extremely frustrated and extatic after being released after being held for 2.5 hours. I'll probably go back though, with less people and for brunch. Dinner is out of the question.

My brunch experience at Loba was one for the books. We were greeted by our excellent server, Craig, and he was so patient and attentive to us the entire time. The lentil croquettes and avocado toast is A MUST for brunch. Many of the people in my party ordered the Southern Benedict and wolfed it down because it was so good. LOBA is also accommodating to vegetarians. My cousin ordered the Benedict and they were able to substitute the brisket for the lentil croquettes (totally recommend this) and I ordered the Huevos Rancheros without the chorizo. The Curious George, Blackberry Waffle, and Ricotta Pancakes were also show-stoppers if you crave the sweets for brunch. The Blackberry Waffle was probably my favorite in terms of flavor, but I enjoyed the Ricotta Pancakes' lightness and variety of fruit. The Curious George is hearty and I would say the least sweet out of the three, after I tasted it I knew it was something I could eat in its entirety and still feel good about myself by the end. In terms of drinks, if you like a bloody mary, the Michelada is the way to go. It's perfectly spiced and refreshing. If mimosas are your jam, the watermelon mango and peach passion ones are the go-to. My favorite however, was the guava juice (which includes blackberry, mint, and honey) spiked into a mimosa. All in all, the charm of this place is what seals the deal. It has a very down to earth and homey vibe. They gave us our check inside of a book and its those little details that will keep me coming back.

This was my first time to LOBA. Had the burger and man was it good! The service was "ehhh", could have been better. I would give it another shot if I was in the neighborhood

i really didn't think i was gonna love this place. but ooof sometimes it feels so good to be wrong. i'm a huge chicken & waffles advocate and have eaten them all over town... the ring of fire is by far the best one i have come across. perfect mix of sweet, savory, and salty. i want it every sunday forever. the mimosas are fun, i had a watermelon mango MiMosa and I may become a little snobby about the types of juice i put in my sunday morning champagne from now on. can't wait to go back for a non-brunch meal.

My only complaint is that the meal took over an hour to get to my table. And by meal, I mean the Zak the Baker bread we ordered. Hey gave us complimentary beer for our wait, but we weren't drinking anymore so it went to waste The food, however, is delicious. The bread was yummy, the spread for the bread is mixture of spicy and sweet. We tried the Slim Ursula. It's really good. The smashed potatoes were yummy but the star of the plate is definitely the octopus - it's perfectly cooked. I ordered the MFC chicken. The chicken pieces that had no bone were a little dryer than those with the bone. Either way, the sauce on them is delicious. The Mac and cheese is yummy (though, the colder it got the sandier the cheese became). My husband ordered the Loba burger and was very happy about it. Meat cooked to his specification - overall yummy.

Cool spot, with a lot of options. This specific night I was trying to be healthy so I had brussels sprouts and the avocado tomato salad. Yummm. It was a Wednesday night and and we were the only table in the restaurant, which was a little awkward. The bartenders were great and they came over to chat with us...but hopefully business will pick up soon. Dining in an empty restaurant just doesn't feel right.

First time here and was disappointed. The interior is nice, exposed brick wall, very comfortable. The service was horrendous. Our server greeted us then never came back. We flagged down the manager to take our wine and starter order. When the server finally came back he took our mains order. He was unable to,answer simple questions about the menu, and the menu is very small. The goat cheese balls were quite good, and the trio of ceviche was a hit with our friends. Then we waited for the mains. Finally, our friends got their ribs, which they liked. Our fried chicken never arrived, we had to ask and received it 15 minutes after our friends. Even though ther reviews here like this dish, ours was dried out and bland (note this is not a battered fried chicken) and the Mac and cheese looked good and was gooey, but it didn't have any taste. The tomato and avocado salad was also not very good, the tomatoes were not ripe, little avocado, and floating in tart citrus dressing. The waiter forgot to bring the additional glass of wine one of us ordered, we had to ask and by then the food was gone. He gave us our check without ever asking if we wanted something else, so I have no idea if they have desserts or coffee. On the way out one of us politely complained to the manager, who said OK. Maybe it was an off night, maybe a server on his first day, but it ruined this place for us. On a side note, they have a parking lot behind, though we did street parking. Check out the Vagabond poolside bar across the street if you are here.

I mean, if their butter alone is to die for... just imagine the rest of the menu. I've had the market fish twice and both times it was pretty damn perfect. It's a high end meal with a non pretentious enviornment. Easy parking, great service and a really good music playlist:) bon appetit; )

My new favorite restaurant in Miami! Jessica put together an amazing birthday dinner. The food is unreal and the space is hip yet unassuming. Definitely get the octopus, the kale salad, the asparagus, sweet potatoes, organic juices... Juwall and Jonathon were awesome. Impeccable service... hard to find in Miami!!!! Everything is 5 stars.

What What!!! Amazing all around. Congratulations to Jessica on her popup brunch on Sunday. Brunch started at 10:30 I must of gotten there by 11:20am and her juevo rancheros were gone..i was so sad but next option was still here.. so i started with a peach passion mimosa delish and he started with a panther coffee; then for entree my hubby and i had the best (the cure) calentado to die for, 2 fried eggs cooked perfectly with rice and red beans, chorizo and an arepa (OMG). What flavor bursting all together. For dessert we had the banana french toast, my husband had it all, and i had the pumpkin sticky bun (loved it)....service was great too, staff is really friendly. Total success. I hope that she makes it permanently.

This is a really great, hip vibe place in MiMo area. It's tiny - reminds me of a place you'd find in Brooklyn. The wine selection was a eclectic and unique, and the food was creative. I love love loved the literary decor. Definitely plan to visit again soon.

Once you stepped in the LOBA's mouth you've been enchanted...from the dark woods, to the aromas, to the impeccable details from the bathroom to the modern Colombian food it eats you alive! We tried almost everything in the menu and it was all great quality, great service and with many contrasting textures and flavors. For being the first week: Loba is capturing Miami hearts with its Latin twists. A great course meal: The goat cheese balls with honey, the ceviche, the pork belly, the patacon with everything and finish with the key lime dessert.

We discovered Loba on yelp right after we finished dinner at another restaurant. The reviews were so good, we had to try it, so we ordered only drinks and a side of cauliflower and a dessert to share. I never thought cauliflower could taste so good! The Frida brownie dessert was something to write home about! Best brownie dessert on the planet! We cant wait to return and explore the rest of the menu. To drink, I had a watermelon agua fresca that was so deliciously sinful, that the absence of alcohol did not matter. And the staff? So friendly and willing to share their knowledge of the menu. Great job guys!!! We will definitely be back very soon.

Awesome service, great food, lovely atmosphere and clever touches (like using books as check presenters) in an up and coming area. I love the MiMo revitalization, and I am excited that LOBA is part of it.

Let me start by saying that this should be a 5 star review. Actually, let's give the food 5 stars and the service 2 stars. If I was the kitchen staff I would tell the front of the house to get their act together! Server did not know the wine list. Botteled water was never poured. Appetizers were brought to the table with no napkins or silverware offerred. We inquired about the flourless fried chicken preparation and was told "it's fried"... 20 minutes after dinner was ordered, the Manager comes over to tell us the fish wad nit "smelling right" and could they bring another fish dish - ok no problem. We then ask.if they can be sure to bring both entrees togther, sure enough, the ribs come out and no fish entree. 10 mins later the fish arrives. We really enjoyed our food. It was very well executed. The Goat cheese is amazing. The kale salad is really good. Ribs are very very good. Go eat here, it is good. Let's hope the staff can get to the same level as the kitchen.

Oh LOBA what you could have been, great concept poor execution. I've been here twice, once for Sunday brunch and recently for dinner on a Friday night . I think the owner is concerned with serving friends and family, unfortunately that won't pay your bills. If I was the owner of a small restaurant I would individually welcome guests or at least check in and see how everything was at some point during the service, that never happened. This is what burns me the most and why I decided to write a review, we went to dinner on a Friday with no reservation... LOBA had open tables and the owner was working on her computer at a 4 top table... We were told we could sit at the bar and we did. However the bar stools are so uncomfortable .. We finished our meal and the same tables were still open for the most part, that is what kills me!! Let's get to the food.. Ordered Sunday brunch and the service was amateur to say the least. I ordered the burger with the fried egg and asked for the egg to be over medium when the waiter served me he saw the egg was basically sunny side up "runny" and said do you want me to change that? Well that's not how I ordered it but you still brought it, you know I didn't want it that way, you saw it was wrong but still served it that way... Ok fair enough I ate it, and it was good but not how I ordered it. Also ordered the curious George for desert but the waiter brought it out as an appetizer.. Geez thanks.. Let's get back to Friday's dinner.. I had the Patacon $27 a little bit expensive for what you get but it had good flavor. Unfortunately the meat was cold by the time my girlfriends Jack Sparrow "fish and chips" made it out. When she received the fish and chips they were burnt to say the least. They did try and fix it, and sent out a huge pice of fish cooked properly. They did comp the beer I guess because of the fish and chips, but the damage was done. If only LOBA herself was more costumer friendly and not consumed with her laptop or the people she knows, I would probably be back.. With so many choices in MIMO, Wynwood and South Beach I would think owners would go the extra mile...

Amazing! Accidental, how lucky can I get??? We tried 3 appetizers, kale, octopus and avocado with beets- all outstanding. Dinner we tried 3-bandeja definitely for meat lovers, excellent beans, steak and more, grouper perfectly cooked and a delicious vegetarian dish with zucchini noodles. Service was attentive-would highly say- 5 star and now a new favorite,

Loba was a nice surprise!! it is smallish restaurant, has fashionable decor, parking in the motel next store, good service, reeally good food, a nice bar area, a very personable owner and is in the developing uptown restaurant district. we had the steak with fries. i do not eat fries, but these are to die for. the steak is a cut like flank, and was cooked just right with a mushroom souse. also,we ordered the salmon which was very good, as well as, a custard and berry desert. the fresh juice which had mango, watermelon, was very tasty and refreshing. Loba has fresh farm to table ingredients!! a winner. the only caveat is that they have a small menu, and they were out of some items.

Our meal/experience at LOBA was overall a let down but there were a couple of good things. First, the bread was stale. We told the server but it was just left on the table and not replaced. Unfortunate because the passionfruit butter is amazing. Voncent van Goat appetizer is good but when is fried cheese not good? Expected something a bit more inventive to go with just the easy win of fried cheese. There was some garnish and crushed nuts but way too little to consider it a complete dish. Then, we ordered a vegetarian dish with farro where the egg atop the bland, watery farro tasted like it had been microwaved. The okra side dish was barely cooked, the beet/avocado side tasted like the avocado spread from Subway, and the corn was good but nothing special about a pile of corn. Vegetarian fare in Miami is still way behind other cities, but at a place like this I expected something better. Maybe it's just another great place for meat-centrics. The decor and furniture is lovely but the lighting is too bright and the music is just one notch too loud.

I've been here for brunch twice with my beau... The food is out of this world. I got Popeye's Ambition and he got the Southern Benedict both times (yes, they were that good!) The Curious George dish was amazing, too. While those three plates were more than enough for the two of us, I don't quite understand why the former two are considered "family-style servings". They're not THAAAAAT big. I digress. So how does a place with such amazing food only get three stars? Service. Horrible service. My blood is starting to boil thinking about how long we had to wait to get our food (and how little our waiter interacted with us during that hour+ wait). It's not that they're understaffed; the place is relatively small. It seems to me that the staff is horribly disorganized. They gave us two free drinks for our troubles, which was nice. Hopefully the quality of service will catch up with the quality of food at some point.

I just finished eating there with some family and friends and the overall experience was fantastic! Great atmosphere, great for a date night or dinner with friends. The ambiance and the decor had such great vibe, very vintage with a rustic feel to it. But if course the most important factor is the food, and it exceeded all expectations! Nit only are the names do creative, but the flavors are top notch. My dad ordered the Loba burger, and he's very particular about burgers and loved it, the egg and bacon in top sets it over the edge. My mom and sister ordered the fried chicken and that was amazing, the mac-n-cheese that comes with it is amazing. And I, being the Colombian that I am, ordered the Patacon and it was beyond delicious. What I really love about the restaurant is that everything is local. Great spot and great addition to the MiMo area, highly recommend it for anyone looking to try something new and different! Will definitely be coming back the next time I'm in town!

The first time I came here, the burger was divine. However, returned with a large party, and they really missed the mark. They served each half of the table over 20 min apart, and food didn't have the same flavor, and staff didn't seem to care. They're not equipped to handle parties larger than 4.

First time here but was excited to try something new in my hood. First off, we were hit with the complete and total renovation and reimagining of the space which used to be Namaste. The decor is great. Warm and inviting without looking like stepped into a Cracker Barrel. Solid wood tables, brick wall, paper chandeliers, and hand made bar. Might not sound congruous on paper but it all works nicely to create a unique environment. We asked what the style of food was and were told Latin with influences from American Southern cuisine. The chef/owner came over and introduced herself and told Us a little bit about the inspiration for the restaurant and the name...which means female wolf. It's about following your own inner wolf. Hence the owner, Jessica has created a very welcoming wolf den. We ordered a variety of items from the appetizers, garden and entrees. Absolutely loved the Orwellian Dystopia with sit unusual mix of farro and garden items topped with a fried egg. Delicious!!! My recommendation is to ask for two eggs on top. Next up a beet, purree guacamole and benne seed salad. Again different and delicious. I'm a sucker for a beet and goat cheese salad and was expecting something similar. But this was different in that the beets had a smokey charred taste which was nicely complimented by the soft sweetness of the guacamole. Next up, Wilbur. Or actually ode to Wilbur...a delicious pork belly with succotash and mild chilies for just a little kick. Main course was the special Patacon. Really this was an even more Latin take on fajitas. It arrived with delicious steak, chorizo, rice, poco de gallo, guacamole and a large fried plantain. You broke off pieces of the large plantain and piled on the various components. Then added one of two delicious sauces. I liked it more than my dinning partner but only because it was just a little too unexpected for him. I thought the flavors all worked for me, but he felt is just felt like a bunch of separate components together on a plate that never came together. Verdict...toss up. Lastly, we opted for a desert based on the chef's recommendation. We had Frida's Secret. Basically it was a brownie sundae...but there was nothing basic about it. It was made with a special, local Mexican ice cream topping a spicy brownie. Plus there were some other hidden flavors that kept popping out...cinnamon, cardamom, toffee...I don't know it just reminded me of something that my grandmother would have made from an old, old recipe. It was really delicious without being over the top Sweet. All in all, a delicious meal, decent service, a warm hospitable host and an inviting unique atmosphere. I will definitely come back. Just have to make sure I only order desert sparingly.

We had to leave but I wanted to say how great management is. I've walked out of places before and never once has a manager came out to apologize and find out if there was anything he could do but the manager at loba did.I look forward to a meal here in the future!

Love love love this place. The atmosphere is great and I love the music and vibe. Met the owner and she was very friendly and explained the menu and drinks. I had the orwells dystopia and a glass of Pinot noir (excellent). The food was great - full of flavor and satisfying. The staff is friendly and attentive as well. Safe to say that I will be coming back!

Second time dining here and the last :-( Once you are able to find this restaurant, which is squeezed between another and a motel, you need to figure out where to park. There are meters on side streets but it means navigating across Biscayne Blvd. Staff try to be accommodating but need much service training. No one is paying attention to details: Water glasses empty? Need more bread as we were just served delicious goat cheese balls? Empty wine glasses need refill? Silverware previously cleared not replaced? 4 out of 6 people have empty plates cleared. Great! What about the other 2 diners - especially the one who ordered the whole fish? Why was his plate not removed? You will have to ask for service. As far as the menu - Loba's version of honey "fried" chicken, which I had on my first visit, was dry. Last night, other than one guest who requested rare steak but was served well done, the food experience was overall for 6 of us a little better. Ribs & ceviche good. Grilled fish of the day, mahi, prepared well - other than needing an extra squeeze of lemon. Kitchen was accommodating when one person wanted whole fish baked instead of fried. Did take 45 minutes for entree to be served but the rest of us agreed to start our meals. They have a small wine list offering but nice selection. Dessert choices not inspiring enough to take on the calories. Sorry, Loba, we did try but there are too many good to great places to dine in Mimo & in Miami in general to leave a restaurant unhappy. Wishing you good luck.

We were here on a Sunday night. Good service. Nice atmosphere. Food was good but not great. What was really missing was some flair to the taste and the food was poorly presented. (It looked like cafeteria food dumped on a plate. ). The Patacon was tasty but not much to look at. Shredded Brussels sprouts - tasty but just dumped in a bowl. Key lime dessert - sweet but just dumped on a plate. Waiter showed us the Brunch Menu - it looked very amateurish. Either an owner or manager spent the whole night on a laptop - on both sides of the bar and never once helped or checked in with customers. If it's office work, then don't do it in the restaurant space during meal time - again very amateurish. I hope they up their game otherwise, I doubt they survive.

The restaurant is really cute and the food was pretty good, buttttt seriously please consider getting A/C. I pretty much melted throughout dinner. Wine and no A/C does not mix well!!! Anyways, my favorite dishes were the Vincent Van Goat fried goat cheese balls, the LOBA burger, and the carrot cake. Mac and cheese was nothing to brag about, I feel it was missing something like more cheese or maybe they should add truffle.

New resteraunt with great potential. Food is straight forward, apps, veggies, fish, and meats with citrus flavors and spice. Recommend the tomato and avocado starter. Burger was good too. The decor is hipster rustic. Owner is very nice and has a great back story. Will definitely try out some other items when I go back. Its a cute addition to the up and coming neighborhood.

My first experience at Loba was an eye opening one. Very few places provide the combination of creativity in their food and decor that Loba provides. As interesting as the names on the menu were, that's actually not what caught my eye the most. It was the ambience. There is a relaxed yet fun vibe to this place . There are vintage mementos behind the bar that give the place a cool look and the check comes out in a unique way. On to the food. The food is creative, fun and well done. My girlfriend and I had the salmon, which was full of flavor. I want one right now . We also ordered the wings, ceviche, and goat cheese. The wings had the right amount of crisp and were coated in a finger-picking garlic sauce, (BBQ sauce also available). The ceviche was fresh and well prepared. The goat cheese came encased in fried golden delicious little balls glazed with local honey. It was my favorite appetizer. We ordered the patacon as an entree. I had never had it but I heard it was good there. It is a Colombian dish -- and wow -- the champion of the evening. It comes with one of the best guacamoles I've had, diced tomatoes, rice, and sliced steak to be layered on a giant tostone. The service was friendly and it was a nice touch that the owner was going around the tables checking on the food. Overall, this is a unique experience for the eyes and taste buds. Highly recommend this place. I'll be back to try their other dishes. Don't miss their sauces! P.S Nice selection of wines and local brews.

Just horrible, from the service to the food. We came in on a Sunday night, there were a few tables but definitely not busy by any means. Our server would not check on our table, forgot to put in an order and brought out food at different times for each diner including bringing sides with no main meal. Food also took forever to get out to the tables.I seldom send food back but my burger was overcooked with burnt black onions in top. The paisa Bandeja was good, but they didn't put everything on the plate as the menu stated, and for $20 there are more than enough Colombian restaurants who make this better and cheaper . The corn tasted canned and presentation left much to be desired, AND all vegetarian options were out. The restaurant dropped the ball on all ends, only having the decor and location Going for it.

Ever since I first read about the owner on Eater, I have been a little bit obsessed with all things LOBA. When they released their menu, I knew that I had to come in as soon as it opened. After a little Instagram stalking, I saw that they were opening that week! I made sure to clear my Friday night schedule and arrange a visit. When you first walk in you're greeted by the most beautiful stained wood wall-panels and bar shelves filled with books and vintage cameras. The atmosphere that the lighting fixtures offered were next to perfect. But on to the food... For starters we ordered the Vincent Van Goat (fried goat cheese with local honey and crushed pistachios) AMAZING! For our main course we had the Butchers Cleanse (SO flavorful) and their specialty (IMO), the Patacon. While the Patacon can easily feed 2, I had NO problem devouring every. last. bite. And of course, I couldn't leave without dessert, that's where Roger's Vice comes in; the most heavenly piece of carrot cake I've ever had. Highly, highly recommend. Not only is the food fantastic, it's a female owned company. A little girl power anyone?

Jessica, the owner, was a really sweet girl, who genuinely seemed interested in candid feedback, so here's to being 100% honest....this was a very poor dining experience. If things do not change ASAP, LOBA will not be open very long...as in closed before the end of the year... I went in Wednesday (July 2, 2014) for dinner with a friend who read about the place on Eater (I'm beginning to think Eater has been paid off). The neighborhood is still in transition, but inside the place is really cute. We were seated immediately, but it took nearly 10 minutes just to get a glass of water (the small restaurant was half full). We ordered a glass of wine and beer (no hard liquor here), and it took another 10 minutes to get our drinks. When the waiter finally came back, we placed our order for apps. We got the kale salad, ceviche, and fried goat cheese. As you've probably guessed that was slow to arrive as well. The ceviche was on the warm side (this is supposed to be a cold dish), but the flavors were okay. The kale salad and goat fritters were pretty good though. After asking for entree recommendations, our waiter said that their fried chicken (MFC - MiMo Fried Chicken) was great and that they were calling the New Times in to rank them for best fried chicken....They better not hold their breath. Publix's (yes, our local grocery store) chicken runs circles around this place. LOBA's fried chicken was probably the worse I have ever eaten in the last 7 years of my life. The breading was way too heavy, not light and crispy at all, too much flour and not enough seasoning in the batter. The chicken was heavy and greasy too (yes, I know it is fried chicken, but the texture was all off). The crust fell all the off after one bite. Now, on to the mac n cheese on the plate. It arrived cold. Not room temp, but COLD. We had to send it back and they apologized and brought us back another side of mac that tasted a half notch better than Kraft's blue box. We decided to give the desserts a try. Ordered the Cookie Monster (a plate of 3 cookies with flavored shot glasses of milk). Concept seems cute. SIGH. The cookies were dry and flavorless. Again, too heavy handed on the flour, not enough fat/butter in the dough, poor quality of chocolate in the cc cookie, and not enough peanut butter (fat) in the peanut butter cookie. They paired the PB cookie with a shot glass of grape infused milk...eating is visual as much as it is about taste buds. The grape shot glass looked like I was painting a big purple Barney and used the glass to dip my paint brush. Not visually appealing. The cookies also arrived COLD. We informed Jessica about this and she apologized again, saying the cookies war supposed to arrive warm. All in all, poor dining experience. I'm giving 2 stars (instead of 1) only b/c the staff was very nice and the actual place is cute, but the KITCHEN IS HORRIBLE. Must be freshmen culinary students back there with no, to little, cooking experience. I really wanted to enjoy LOBA but was highly disappointed.

Read full post here: faunalikesflora.com/food… Overall, we very much enjoyed our experience at Loba. The service was great, the portions were substantial, and everything is made fresh and with as many local items as possible. We can't be too picky about vegetarian dishes because let's be honest, most foodies love their meat though I secretly wish restaurants had more lip-smacking plant based options that would turn any meat eater into a veggie believer.

Loved the place and the food. Had the whole fish with pink guava and tostones it was amazing! Want to go back for the Vince Van Goat appetizer ^_^

Yelp said good for kids so I came here with my wife and two kids (6 yrs and 2 yrs). We came straight from work and camp/school. The place is small (maybe 6-8 tables) and a couple of tables were occupied. Was a little out of place with my slightly loud, messy, and grungy from camp/school kids. Menu is somewhat limited, and they have no kids menu and no kids cups. So no, I would not consider this place to be kid friendly at all. That being said, the food was pretty good. They started with some special bread and flavored butter. The kids didn't like it, but my wife and I thought it was good. For entrees, my wife got the fried chicken with bacon mac and cheese and kale and I got the burger with egg. Everything was tasty. Would like to come back sans kids sometime. Worth checking out.

If you enjoy an array of outstanding food accompanied by a comforting ambiance, then LOBA is the place for you. We ordered the fried goat cheese, ode to Wilbur, patacon, the Frida dessert, and the donuts. There wasn't a crumb left on any of our plates. There's something on the menu for all tastes and you will leave beyond satisfied. I can't wait to go again.

Cute small restaurant they have nice plates and a take on Colombian food. Just to pricy for what they offer. A small piece of grouper with a bitty salad for 25.00 is just to much. The fried chicken was ok the mac and cheese was good but still think they are to pricy for what they offer. I would suggest plates of 17 Or 18 but 25 and 27 is just not right for the level of food.

I was very excited at the beginning about a new restaurant with latin touch in my neighborhood. From the outside the place look really cool. I even read an article before opening on how Jessica the owner put all the concept together including the idea of having chef students run the kitchen. I arrived to the place with my husband and a friends. My first impression was positive, Jessica really did a good job as far as decoration goes. However, my experience turned positive into negative when the food arrived to our table. The cheese balls were cold, the PATACON so greasy that just disintegrated into our hands. I am Colombian so if the PATACON is not crunchy, then I will be disappointed for sure. Then our burgers were not the exception; the bread was off. When we told the waiter his first reaction was to go tell Jessica who was too busy taking care of her friends at the bar to come approach the situation. The only solution they came out with was "we will not charge you for the cheese balls". Seriously? Jessica could probably had done better coming to the table taking suggestions and bringing a better dish. I was clearly not in the restaurant to get a free meal; I wanted to love this restaurant so much to keep it as the place to go every time I was craving comfort food with LATIN touch but I guess you will need more time if you really make an effort to take these suggestions on YELP. We all left feeling very disappointed. Let's hope with time LOBA will truly become besides a well decorated place, a true restaurant with delicious comfort food with that LATIN touch that this area needs.

Loba you had me at bread and butter. We ordered the goat cheese balls to start that we different and very good. I loved the fried chicken but your vegetarian dishes are truly amazing. Love the service and cool vibe of the places that fits in with the new Mimo District.. Keep it up and I will keep on coming back.

The $20 plate of fried chicken is a shot across the bow: it signals to the diner that, as the chef or restauranteur, you're so confident that your take on this quintessentially lowbrow yet sacred dish is so good that it's worth that much. Against my better judgment, I ordered it. It was so poorly executed that I felt angry after it was presented to me. I felt like I was being had by the kitchen. And, my fellow diners, the night was only going to get worse from there. Service: amateur hour. The server propped the bottle on the table because he did not know how to operate the wine key. If I were not paying a 300% mark up on a bottle that retails for about $16 (Clos La Coutale, 2012), perhaps I would have overlooked the issue. But to charge these sorts of prices requires the house to either deploy experienced servers or invest in training. Loba does neither. Emblematic of the horrendous service was our waiter's response to our request for more bread (which was prompted because of the inordinate delay in bringing out our entrees): "I'll check with the kitchen." My fellow diners -- I plead to your good faith and common sense -- is this ever an acceptable response? (incidentally, the bread served was not from Zak the Baker, as advertised on the menu and on my bill). Starters: solid, for what it's worth. Goat cheese croquettes, pork belly, and lentil croquettes were highlights of meal. Entrees: awful and obscenely priced for what you got, even by Miami standards. Burgers and salmon were grossly overcooked. Only marginally redeeming dish was the Patacon -- which was a overpriced $27. Management: When the server gave my friend my supposedly medium rare burger and gave me his purportedly medium well burger, and in light of the fact that both were overcooked, I asked our server to comp us two glasses of the Clos la Coutale and all would temporarily be forgiven. He said yes, but when the check came out, there they were -- he charged me. I asked to see the manager, and Ms. Sanchez came out, not to apologize, but to inquire as to why I had eaten the burger if it was overcooked as I had claimed. I was not asking that the mediocre meal for six guests -- which was coming at $280 -- be comped. I was only asking that she comp the two overpriced $10 glasses of wine. Only after much haranguing did Ms. Sanchez agree. Conclusion: one of the more lackluster and sad meals I've had in years. The mediocre food, the pomposity of the place (peruse the website at your leisure), and the high prices make this a no-go under any circumstance. Professor Woland

Located in a very unassuming locale right off of Biscayne Blvd, feet away from the iconic Vagabond Hotel, Loba offers some delicious eats. The place is small but intimate and offers a great selection of what is described as Latin Spice and Southern Comfort food. Make sure to order their ceviche sampler dish to start. This place will not dissapoint.

Absolutely loved this place from the moment I stepped in - very cool ambiance and good, friendly service. Picked up take-out so didn't have the whole experience but it was an enjoyable visit nonetheless. To my surprise, the check was put in a book that was coincidently one of my faves, but the best part was when I got home and took my first bite - WOW! Can definitely see myself becoming a regular here.

Delicious! Great experience at Loba. The restaurant decor is beautiful, warm, and inviting. The staff was very nice and helpful with all of our questions. The owner is so sweet and really sat to ask us our opinions on everything as they are still working out any kinks from opening. The food was great. We ordered the avocado and tomato salad, which was citrusy and tasted almost like ceviche without the fish. I'm going to try to attempt it on my own since I loved it so much. We also tried the fried goat cheese balls which we loved as well. We then shared the burger and the fried chicken as entrees. I LOVED this fried chicken, it was so crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, my mouth is watering just writing about it. For desert we shared the milk and cookies. I LOVED the purple milk and the oatmeal cookie together. The mint milk was a little odd but the owner said they are still tinkering with it. Overall I had an amazing first experience at Loba and I will definitely be bringing people back to try it too.

We visited Loba when it first opened and were extremely excited about it but in all honesty, it was a complete let down. The biggest disappointment for me was the goat cheese balls. They were extremely bland, just fried goat cheese, not inventive whatsoever. We dined at Lulu's in the grove the night before and their cheese balls were mouth watering that we ordered a second round of them. We also had the fried chicken and although it was def a different take on it, it didn't wow us. My fiance's mom couldn't stomach them lol. Next we ordered the roasted fish of the day, which was snapper. it sure did not seem roasted as skin didn't have an ounce of crispiness and was served with a little salad on top. The Slim ursula was way too salty, hard and was not appetizing. Did I mention that the prices were too high for the quality and originality. I would rather go to sugarcane or michaels and spend the same for a lot better food. As for service, everyone was extremely nice. However, the staff didn't know the menu well and we not experienced. It was however their first week. I get it. The owner was definitely very nice. It's her first venture. She told us that her mom was the chef so my guess is that a kid would always prefer mom's food best. I wish them luck but I won't be coming back. My fiance and I are foodies and love to support new local restaurants but I"m not sure if this one will make it.

Came for brunch on sunday. Place wasn't overly packed but the food took forever to be served. It wasn't the best eggs Benedict I've had but I enjoyed it. The waiter was extremely friendly and seemed to really care about the place. Overall not memorable but also nothing to complain about except the time.

Neighborhood Gem. Food was very good, so was the service. The Goat cheese arancini delicious and creamy, Ceviche came prepared three different ways, all tasted great, the cauliflower puff had a real interesting and delicious flavor. The waitress Jessica was so nice to let me try different wines so I could decide which one to choose for dinner. Great experience!

LOBA was the 3rd destination for myself and my fellow Biscayne Corridor neighbors on our inaugural Restaurant Crawl through the MiMo district of Biscayne Boulevard last Sunday night. Nestled at the unofficial end of the district, LOBA is a winner! Located in a small, unassuming motel, you are transported the second you walk through the restaurant door. With its solid wood and brick interior, LOBA feels like a sophisticated, urban wood cabin, warm and inviting with soft lighting. Our server greeted us immediately and set about serving us sangria with a blackberry (which our crawlers loved!) and bringing out the first of 3 delicious items for us to sample. Baskets of Zak The Baker bread and LOBA's signature butter (butter whipped with honey) were passed around. We then tucked into a farro based dish topped with an egg - heaven! I've never had anything like this before - it was absolutely exquisite! This was followed up with a dish of pulled pork, perfectly seasoned and as tender as could be. And finally a chicken dish which I regretfully didn't sample but which my fellow crawlers report was delish! LOBA describes its cuisine as New American but that doesn't do it the justice it deserves. Their food is inventive and innovative with modern American, Latin and Southern influences. Clearly, great effort has been made to blend and create these dishes for today's diner's discriminating palate. In addition, the food is beautifully presented which makes your meal extra special. LOBA is located at 74th street on the west side of Biscayne Boulevard. It shares a parking lot with the Royal Inn Motel but ample street parking is available off the boulevard. Although a relative newcomer to the happening MiMo district restaurant scene, LOBA has made its mark and rightly so with its flavorsome, contemporary fare. Many, many thanks LOBA for making our Restaurant Crawl night so very, very special! A shout out to our amazing server who made sure that all us crawlers were well taken care of and had more than enough to eat! A nod to Jessica too, the young woman who owns LOBA -always happy to see women doing well in business! We had a fabulous time and now we know why everyone is talking about LOBA!! Expect us again soon!

I have to say, I am shocked by all these good reviews. When I went to this place, it was a disaster. The service was honestly something out of a Seinfeld episode, and we laughed ourselves right over to MC Kitchen for real service and food afterwards. And the menu is a bit crazy. Obviously I am not a cheap eater (as evidenced by the fact that I went to MC Kitchen after leaving this place), but $20 for half a head of cauliflower?? I am sorry, but I have never seen such a thing. Anywhere. And I travel a lot. I just don't get it. Maybe I am too old to get it (though I'm only 35... if that tells you anything). But if you are a foodie, and if your service standards are high, I don't think I would recommend this place for a meal, or even a beer.

So I really want to like this place. The decor is great although the restaurant is freezing cold. Drinks are a bit watered down especially at $10 a pop. We waited for our food for over 30 minutes while tables who came in after us were already getting theirs.... So why the 4 stars? because the food was amazing! we went there for brunch and had the huevos rancheros which were great as well as the popeye omelette. I also give them credit since they have only been serving brunch for 2-3 weeks and understand there is a learning curve. I just ask that you strengthen up your drinks.

As you walk into Loba you feel like you're walking into a friends home not their house. It definitely portrays the owners personal style. From a wall full of pages of books she's read with her personal notes and highlights. The decor is spot on, the service is great we even got the chance to meet the owner and the FOOD was amazing. We started off out night with the fried goat cheese with a honey sauce very tasty. We also had the lemon pepper wings and the tomato and avocado salad. Also very good. As our meal we had the fried chicken and Mac and cheese, to die for!!!! We also had the patacon dish which was another great pick. The only down fall was that we didn't have room for dessert but that's ok because it gives me an excuse to go again.

Went there a couple of months back with a large party for our friend, Stephen's birthday. The food was absolutely delicious and the ambience was nice too. They had their workers sing happy birthday at my request even though that's something they don't offer. All the members of my party including the birthday boy appreciated the efforts. The manager was sweet and very accommodating, but with that being said, I have 3 complaints that would keep us from returning anytime soon: it was extremely loud and hard to hear members of our party (with such a small space the music should not have been blasting that loudly); they had like 2-3 waiters servicing our table, and they still couldn't get the orders right sending us what we didn't ask for or more than we ordered; and finally when it came time to pay, it took them 30 mins to work out whose bill is what, whom ordered what and how to split the bill (even though we told them whose bill to put each order as it went in when the waiter was taking it -_-).

I have yet to encounter a dish I don't like. From the chicken little, to the patacon, every meal here deserves a standing ovation. Recently tried the Jenga ribs... finger lickin' good! Jess has created a restaurant both worthy for its food and it's ambiance. Cozy and welcoming. I'd say it's my favorite new spot!

Loba is an adorable little restaurant in MiMo. Went there for dinner on a Wednesday night. It was pretty empty, but I hear it's usually busiest on the weekend for brunch. The food was amazing. I ordered the Butcher's Cleanse, which was a perfectly cooked thicker marbled cut of flank steak. The waitstaff were knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list. The service was excellent, and I love the decor (wood paneling on the walls, wood bar, wood tables, wood everywhere!). Came here for a girl's night out but I'll definitely be back for a date night.

Amazing food. Very cool place to be with friends or family. Loba is a hidden place ready to be discovered. Colombian fusion food. Service was very friendly and helpful; they know their menu and helped us choose our meals. We started with Slim Ursula, a very delicious octopus and BBQ chicken wings. Both coked to perfection. Then we ordered Patacon, grilled salmon and cod fish with vegetables. Everything was very tasteful and cook to perfection. The owner, Jessica, came to our table and told us her story behind Loba, she even discounted the dessert from the bill, we order Dunk'nDip, DELICIOUS and after her nice gesture of giving the dessert as her treat, it tasted more appetizing. We will be back and tell friends about Loba! Good job Jessica!

Love the napkins but that's a personal thing. Has a very family feel. I'm very picky when it comes to burgers but I highly recommend the loba burger. Very flavorful love the flavor the egg brings to it. The accompanied salsa is great with fries or the meat. The patacon easily serves a group as As a great appetizer. I walked into fridas secret very skeptical about a Mexican brownie and walked away a huge fan. The staff was very polite and accommodating to its apparent new beginnings and was even greeted by the owner. Will definitely try again.

I've been here before, first experience was awesome. Today is my second time here and although food was delicious I won't give them 5 stars for two reasons: They took FOREVER to bring out our food (50 mins), they made a mistake with our order and the wait was insane. They made it up by sending us a complimentary side (avocado toast) which was nice. Also, bring a coat, boots, a scarf, three pairs of socks bc it's freaking cold in here!

Great job, Jess and Robbie! Outstanding food, service, decor and more. Clever touches, literary nuances, and a home feel make this a great place to go and get a sense of regional American and Latina comida. Quite possibly a new place to rely on for taste and personal treatment. Nick.

This small and cozy little place with a delightful and very creative menu well deserves my first yelp review. I've been there 3 times, 2 for dinner and 1 for Brunch. I might seem biased if I review every dish but the "all dente" Short Ribs Benedict are so worth mentioning! So is the Ceviche and Octopus and... We arrived early and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere that increased in vibe but not in noise as all tables where full. Well done Loba!

Located in the Mimo district, Loba sits in an unassuming block but it's storefront leads to an amazing decor with a rustic feel. The wooden tables and intriguing decorated walls give it a quaint and cozy ambience. The food: Exquisite! Fried goat cheese balls with honey.Amazing! But I would have enjoyed more honey; I found it a bit scarce. The chicken wings were an explosion of flavor! Yumm-Oh! The fried snapper - the best entree we ordered! It was well seasoned and the accompaniments were great! (Nabo, guava, orange slices, etc.) and the patacons that came with it were flavorful and deliciously crispy! The steak with mushrooms and fries - I expected the portion to be larger; perhaps the fact it was well seasoned and cooked to perfection had a lot to do with this. The desserts!! Oh the desserts! We had 3! All delicious but our favorite was Frida's Secret, a chocolate brownie with a hint of spice and sweet corn ice cream plus salted caramel. It's worth coming back even just for it! We arrived at 6 pm and the place got filled up pretty quick! I can foresee that due to its demand, Loba will be relocating to a larger space soon. PS. Parking is limited so plan accordingly!

I finally was able to try LOBA! I have to say it was great! I love how some of the dishes are Colombian inspired as well. We had the ceviche which was great full of flavor. We also had the patacón I absolutely loved very fresh ingredients with a toasty yet sweet patacón. I ordered the chicken little for my kids but to my surprise they were fascinated with the patacón. However the chicken little had just the right amount of sauce and very tasty. I wish they had the cookie thou. I was hopping my kids would have had a chance to try it. All in all great experience.

We went to Loba on a whim and what a wonderful surprise! The restaurant is everything one should expect. Small, nicely decorated, great service and the food....sublime. We ordered the ceviche and kale salad as appetizers and cleaned the plates. For main course we had the steak and fish special, nobody was willing to share their deliciousness! And dessert. The carrot cake makes you think you died and went to heaven. We live in the Gables and will definitely drive to Loba in a heart beat

I've been using yelp for years and never have I felt compelled to write a review like I do now for LOBA. As a native New Yorker, food -- GOOD food and consistently good food -- is incredibly important when dining out. To put it simply, LOBA never disappoints. Since moving to Miami four months ago we've frequented LOBA several times on our search for the best spots in town only to be amazed each time how uniquely delicious the food is. We haven't found anything like this in Miami. We love the cozy intimate space (it reminds us of New York joints) with exposed brick walls, and we love how chatty and friendly all the staff are, particularly the owner/chef, Jessica. Ask for anything or about anything and she's so excited to talk to you. This is the kind of place where you feel like they actually care about serving food you will enjoy, but also food that's different and interesting. A must if you live here or are visiting.

Fabulous food. The seared tuna was cooked perfectly and plated well. My husband had the steak which was tender and tasty. The grilled octopus was perfect.. A bit noisy with a young 30's crowd. WILL definitely return..the decor is minimalist with book pages on walls. Cleverly done. But the food is superb...ceviche hot but not too burning and the chocolate desert with sweet corn ice cream wonderfully sublime.

I went to Loba for the first time last night. I loved the decor and general vibe of the restaurant. The service was a little lacking, but then again it just opened so it is to be expected. The food was hit or miss. We loved the goat cheese balls and the octopus small plates. On the other hand our MiMo fried chicken was burnt, hard and not very good. Additionally, parking is a bit of a challenge. Overall, I think they have a few things to work on, but it is early for this restaurant. I hope they work out the kinks!

The waiter said "we have no change." The only parking is on the back streets with meters. We got change from the deli on the corner. I had previously written that I ordered Mahi Mahi at Michael's Genuine and everybody I was with adored it. I was mistaken. I actually ordered that now famous dish here. The decor is exactly what you'd expect with a name like Loba.

So if I am actually stooping to do a review on yelp you must know that I really want to review this place. The last time I did a review on yelp it was of my hair salon and because I was positive they blocked it thinking it was fake. On this review its the exact opposite, it's so negative it may be blocked. The restaurant is small, they only have six tables. We were forced to sit at a high table with extremely uncomfortable chairs. The waiter was slow to come back and he was slow to get our drinks, he brought the drinks for the people who were seated after us first, and they were out of five different wines, and The only Cabernet they had was available by the glass only, because they didn't have enough stock to sell it by the bottle. And when I tasted it, it was a bad Cabernet. That being said, we gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt because this is the new local restaurant, we want to support locals, and we want to support a young chef starting a new business. Well they managed to eat through our patience and our Goodwill. We waited over an hour for our food and watched the table that ordered 20 minutes after us get served first. When I told the waiter enough was enough, we wanted our check he went back to the kitchen brought out our food and dropped it off with the bill that I had demanded when I said we were leaving. And the food he dropped off was awful, the chicken tasted bad and it was cold. I did not ask for my food, I asked for my bill. I paid for food I did not eat, by the way the mac & cheese was awful I'd still like to know where the cheese was on that bland concoction. Anyway, I paid the bill, I even tipped the poor waiter 15%, which is the lowest I would ever tip to me 15% was meant as an insult, I told the waiter how unhappy I was and even told him to go back and tell the owner/chef in the kitchen and no one came out to speak to me. In my opinion, that shows they can experience and maturity of a 28-year-old trying to run a restaurant. The saddest part of this review is that I love my neighborhood, it's going through a transformation, and I want her to succeed. We invited friends from other parts of town and Fort Lauderdale to come eat there and needless to say we won't be going there.

It is beautiful on the inside with wood/mirrors lining the wall as well as book pages. Even the bathroom looks great. The things you MUST try: goat cheese balls, salmon, fried chicken, carrot cake. It was all delicious we licked the plates clean. It is a brand new restaurant so once they get hang of things and such it will be a fantastic spot. I will definitely be returning. Great atmosphere and yummy food!

My family and visited Loba for the first time last weekend and we loved it! My son had the burger and wants to go back again this Friday for seconds! My wife and I shared the chicken dinner and the Patacon plate and enjoyed the flavors in those dishes! The atmosphere was great and the service was amazing! Hats off to the chefs!!!

I'd been to Loba before and was quite pleased. Everything was very good and I had no complaints. When I heard we were going again, I actually found myself looking forward to it. That happens very rarely for me. So upon my return, I was accompanied by my wife and both of our mothers. We came in to see that the a/c was broken and the full house was being cooled by way of fans. I was already irritated by our parents and this was just one more thing to make me wish that my wife and I had brought a flask. We ordered our food as we sat but delivery took a long time for the first "wave" of orders. It was after all a full house, but things were much slower than one would have imagined. Once our avocado toast and curious George banana bread hit the table, the world made sense again. We proceeded to then wait another 45 minutes for the balance of our order. We mentioned this issue with the manager and wait staff and were met with a decent apology. Mom 1 got mimo slam which was decent, mom 2 picked at my wife's "Popeye's ambition" and I ordered the souther Benedict I think it's called as well as the ring of fire (I'm dieting). The southern Benedict is seriously fantastic. Heavy as all hell, but I can hang. The ring of fire was okay. The chicken was great, the waffle was a bit dry and the Serrano ham just didn't belong in my opinion. My wife made the statement to me that "she's over it" referring to the restaurant. We both have an issue with getting mediocre service at a premium price. I was genuinely upset that the next time I would eat here would involve a debate, but I'm always up to the challenge. Thankfully, without us saying anything besides the initial timing query, they compensated us handsomely for our extreme wait time. They messed up and they made good on it. I can't ask for better service than that. Great food and great customer service is all I can ask for! My second time eating here has solidified a very positive impression of Loba and the people behind it.

What happened? I went to Loba a year ago and it was great. We left the place supper happy. Last night we decided to go again and the food was pretty meh. We had a trio of ceviche that was ok. It lacked that extra "thing" that would make it shine. Also the fish wasn't very tender, same with the shrimp. I also ordered the Pork belly. Nice and crispy on the outside and tender inside but also lacked that extra kick in flavor. As a main course we ordered the salmon and again, nothing special. The salad was great but the fish was just another ordinary fish. We love the place and the atmosphere. Service has been good to us so no complaints there. I just feel like the quality of the dishes served, compared to when it first opened do not have the same standards as those we tried the first time.

Food was amazing!!! The pork belly had the perfect balance of all flavors with sweetness from the butternut squash and a hint of spice from the jalapeno. They also brought out this huge flattened and deep fried plantain- it was like a giant tostones, but better!! Service was minimal, but not bad. I just though it was funny that on their menu they ask you not to use your phone.. but the majority of the staff is on their phones. But I'll still be back :)

I had this place bookmarked for a while and finally got around to try it out! On a Saturday night Loba was quite full and as walk-ins the only seats available for a party of 2 was at the bar. We ordered the Albariño, which was fine. I wish it would've been cooler, or if the glasses were chilled. We noticed that the AC wasn't working, or so it felt like it. It was hot and a bit humid... We saw one oscillating fan, but that didn't make much of a difference. (Maybe that's why the wine didn't feel as cool.) I don't know why, but I was expecting a more extensive menu. We shared the Slim Ursula (pulpo a la gallega, baby russet potatoes, cilantro pesto), Ceviche Trio (corvina, Florida shrimp, marquitas), and the MFC ((MiMo Fried Chicken) flourless fried chicken, bacon mac & cheese, crispy kale, local honey). - Slim Ursula - the octopus was cooked to perfection! (It's not that hard, but many restaurants have difficulty cooking octopus and most often overcooked it. So kudos for the perfect octopus!!!) The potatoes were soft and yummy and went well with the cilantro pesto. The cilantro pesto was more of a cilantro aioli... And I didn't get a lot of cilantro flavor. - Ceviche Trio - 1. Tomato based, on the sweeter side. 2. Coconut milk bass, with a sweet note. 3. Cilantro based with a bit more citrus flavor compared to the other two. It tasted like the corvina and shrimp were blanched and not cooked in the lime juice. Wasn't a fan of the ceviches, definitely better ceviches in Miami. The marquitas were freshly deep fried and good. - MFC - I'm not a fan of fried chicken, although I've had my fare share. The chicken had a sweet note due to the honey drizzled in top, but was overcooked and dry. The kale was also sweet (honey again) and pieces weren't crispy. The mac and cheese, I was looking forward to it and was quite disappointed. I expected the bacon to be incorporated and cooked with the mac and cheese, but it was mac and cheese topped with bacon (I think one strip?). It was very cheesy, but the flavor just wasn't there for me. I've definitely had better mac and cheese. Service was standard. The servers were polite, but nothing worth extraordinary regarding service. Would I return? Probably not.

I have been here three times. Food is always amazing, I recommend the burger, you can even split it with a friend so you are able to try the other amazing food Loba as the offer. Unfortunately my last visit wasn't all that enjoyable. Food was good like usual, but my WHOLE order came out at once, meaning all the appetizers and entrees. Me and my friend order a lot so 3 appetizers 2 main dishes and 2 sides came out at once! They had to put food on a side stool because it couldn't fit on the table. Was embarrassing since we ordered so much and it made us look like pigs lol. Food was good but since there was not time between appetizers and entrees we were full instantly.

Amazing!!! Had my bday dinner here last night. Food-amazing, great for a foodie palate. Ambiance-cool and intimate, service-perfect...they are mind readers, fav dish has gotta be the octopus tied with kale salad and ceviche. Thanks for the memorable night LOBA!

Everything was good, service was pleasant. There is just something missing, a WOW factor. My date and I couldn't exactly put our finger on it. I don't think I'd really go out of my way to ever go there again.. Only complaint is that the server didn't inform us that we had ordered way too much for 2 people. We thought the "small bites" were actually small...maybe I'd go back for the fried goat cheese, that was truely amazing!

That was my second time at Loba and as it happened on my first visit they blew me away! I had ran a half marathon earlier and I was starving, headache and the whole deal, and as soon as I got there we got seated at our arrival, served water, and got our menus. The deal was not to eat fried food! Well it was a hard deal because the first thing that caught my eyes was their Lentil croquettes with beet tzazik! Well, I tried my best to get out of the deal with no luck! We focused then on their main dishes. The voted ones were the Brisket Eggs Benedict, the Popeye's Ambition, and the Blueberry waffles to sweeten our tooth. Our server was very attentive, and got us to sample our beers before we made our final decision. The food seemed to take a little bit long to come, or maybe it was just me starved and impatient to start eating, but when it came it was heaven! The first to come out was the waffles. It came accompanied by syrup, Greek yogurt, and granola. It was crunchy, flavorful, and I could not stop eating! Our second dish was the Brisket eggs Benedict. What was that brisket? Seasoned to perfection, juicy, and tender, on top of a soft butter biscuit with a poached egg, and a delicious sauce! It was a explosion of flavors inside my mouth! Boom! And finally the ambition came out, that was an egg white omelet with Shiitake mushrooms, caramelized onions and peppers, avocado, tomatoes, and a cup of fresh fruits. Yumminess to the last bite. I have been here previously for lunch, dinner and now brunch. I've gotta admitt that I am a BIG fan of this place. Anytime this will be a great option!

I went to LOBA for brunch on Sunday with my best friend after a long night. We were in the mood for a hearty brunch to quell our hangovers and LOBA didn't disappoint. The wood paneling in the restaurant lends the space a very cozy feel which we loved. It was a nice respite after parking behind the motel and running into a very questionable dude in the parking lot. To take the edge off, I had a glass of of the sangria which was quite tasty. I loved the blackberries in it. To start, we had the avocado toast which I absolutely loved. The bread was perfectly toasted and the avocado was just right. We then shared the Southern Benedict. I really loved the hollandaise sauce and the brisket was very flavorful, but the egg was over-poached and not runny at all. For dessert, we had the Curious George which wasn't a hit. The banana bread was burnt and the dish just wasn't special over all. I'd definitely go back to LOBA for brunch since i'd really like to try the lentil croquette, the Huevos Rancheros and the Ring of Fire. The folks at the table next to us seemed to have ordered the entire menu and several of their dishes looked delicious. I'd also love to try LOBA's dinner menu. Although our meal wasn't perfect, LOBA has quite a lot of potential and I look forward to giving them another try.

Great atmosphere in the restaurant. Very friendly service. We got the patacon, ribs, chicken wings and goat cheese balls. Everything was great. The goat cheese balls were unique and had great flavor and the patacon was rich in flavors. For dessert we had carrot cake, Mexican brownies and the key lime custard. All three desserts were very good. Not too sweet and well balanced. Will be coming back to explore the rest of the menu and would recommend it to anyone in the area.

Oh Loba how I now HOWL for your eggs benedict (see what I did there) We visited for Sunday brunch to celebrate our friends anniversary and were so happy that we did! Everything we ate was delicious! What is brunch without a mimosa, here you can make it a watermelon mango mimosa, so we did. It was delicious and refreshing. To eat I chose the ring of fire, which is Spanish spiced fried chicken atop a sweet potato waffle and with prosciutto slices on top. This was so good! The chicken had so much flavor and was still moist even though it was fried. The waffle was not overly sweet, was crunchy on the outside while fluffy on the inside, paired with their maple syrup it was pure bliss. My husband chose the eggs benedict which is braised brisket atop biscuits with a poached egg on top and salsa verde hollandaise with a side of breakfast potatoes, I had a taste and they were also delicious! So much taste on both of our plates. I can't wait to make it back to brunch here! Little side note though, not sure if it was because of the mimosa but I think the air conditioning could have been a little bit colder inside as most at our table were a little hot.

First things first. Free parking behind the Budget Inn motel. Love the wooden paneled walls, the movie screen and the hipster wait staff. Food took quite a while to come out although they weren't busy for Sunday brunch. That part I didn't mind, gave me extra time to catch up with my favorite girls. What I did find very dissappointing was that they were out of the two items I had pre-selected looking at their menu online. The ricotta pancakes and the berry waffles. Boo. We shared the banana bread French toast as an appetizer. You get 2 thin slices of the bread drizzled with a little peanut butter and nutella. It is a dessert more than anything and small for the price. The egg white omelet was not impressive. It fell flat in the most literal sense. Not fluffy at all, there was hardly any spinach or goat cheese in it, mostly oily onions and peppers. Would not order this again. Too small, I was still hungry after finishing it. I did taste a piece of the sweet potato waffle that comes with the chicken, since that portion was huge, and I did like it. For dessert, get the dippin donuts. They are fried to order, rolled in cinnamon sugar and served in a bowl with nutella on the bottom. They are actually better sans nutella, they taste like beignets. The spicy brownie was way small and I didn't care for the corn icecream. It was okay on its own but combined with the chocolate it had an odd aftertaste. All in all, there are many better brunch spots.

Absolutely loved this little hidden gem in our neighborhood! Right across from the newly renovated & historic Vagabond hotel, this Latin fare restaurant takes classic Colombian cuisine elements & elevates them to new flavor heights. Follow the blue wolf to find yourself inside what could possibly be Wes Anderson's bookshelf. The small yet cozy & intimate environment awaits you behind Loba's doors. The wooden tables, books & the intoxicating smell of the kitchen fill the whole room no matter where you sit. We sat at the 2 corner bar seats, which proved to be a prime spot to ensure our beer glasses remained full. Suggestions were spot on by the staff as we were treated to some delicious plates of fresh ceviche, perfectly cooked steak & crisp patacon with a surprisingly delightful guacamole dipping sauce. A trip to the bathroom will walk you through a book, as page after page adorn the hall. This was our first time, and surely won't be the last!

I've stopped by here to have brunch a couple of times and the food I've tried has been excellent. This restaurant is similar to blue collar in that it's a tiny space tucked into a motel. Also similarly, once you step inside you're transported to another place. The inside is rustic, cozy, and incredibly inviting. I've been able to taste what they tell me are the two most popular dishes - the ring of fire (chicken and waffles) and the brisket Benedict. While the chicken and waffles was delicious it was a little on the spicy side. The brisket Benedict on the other hand was perfectly balanced, and I loved the salsa verde hollandaise. I also had a traditional breakfast sandwich, which while maybe a little boring was nicely executed. I have to mention their breakfast potatoes. If your breakfast doesn't come with them make sure to order a side - they're amazing. The service is really friendly, informed and attentive, and they bring you your check tucked in the pages of one of the books they have floating around the rugged wooden shelves behind the bar. I look forward to having dinner here soon!

Looking for a new place to have unlimited GUAYAVA mimosas ? This is the place to be , they just reached their one year anniversary. The staff works as a team to make sure your experience is exceptional , it was like having three servers in one. It is a small place but all the more reason for better food and service with a small menu . I had the lentil croquettes , huevos rancheros and loba burger for brunch . All of the dishes were executed perfectly. The highlight of my meal was the GUAYAVA mimosas a blend of blackberries mint guayava and champagne. If you are looking for something different and delicious head to loba.

Perfect perfect perfect. Well round menu. Great ingredients. Executed very well. The patacon is heaven on a plate. Burger is a great mix of premium chuck and brisket. You must try this place but don't go too often because it's small and I want a table

It's perfectly appropriate to eat at a restaurant named "female wolf" before going to howl at the Super Moon..Oh and said restaurant happens to be conveniently located near the 79th street causeway. I found Loba on Yelp's Hot New Business' feed and saw a couple of items that piqued my attention, and decided to check it out Sunday. Located in a restored Biscayne Blvd. storefront, the entrance is subtly marked by a wolf logo. Inside decor is eclectic, with a bookcase and actual old paperbacks. Keeping up the literary theme, the bathroom is wallpapered with "Where the Wild Things Are" storyboards and a extendable mirror. Even though I dined solo, I was given the option to have a table to myself though I chose to sit at the bar where Jessica and her staff were socializing. This gave me the opportunity to meet and ask questions about the food. Do like I did, and start with one of their fresh squeezed fruit juices, like the tarty and slightly sweet peach I enjoyed. Pair that up with a slice of Zak the Baker bread and very sweet butter. Those items led up to my deliciously messy, tangily sweet chicken wings. Your fingers will get dirty and your mouth will get happy! I left "Some" space for their eponymous Loba Burger (and they packed the rest to go), a huge beef & patty made sweet with a mix of caramelized and soft fried egg. Though I loved the juicy sweetness, I also enjoyed the heat of the ají dipping sauce (they also packed some with my to go box). A very good meal! I'm holding off the fifth star until I can try some of the desserts I noticed in their online menu. Parking can also be a little bit of an adventure. Hopefully you get lucky and find a street spot. I'll definitely be back.

Family run (2 brothers, 1 sister) restaurant who come from a line of restauranteurs - they create a modern, cozy place with interesting dishes. Our faves include friend cheese balls with honey, pork belly, salmon, ribs - their sides are very tasty (brussel sprouts, mushrooms). John, one of the owners is beyond attentive! Oh, and ask for their mother's hot sauce + jalapen~os! Amazing.

I can't tell you how pleased I am to see this place exist. I decided to dine in on Sunday night after seeing Yelp's "hot & new feed through their Miami page. What an awesome find! Mind you I was starving so I ordered the ceviche & goat cheese fritters to start off... Heaven in my mouth! The local honey drizzled over the goat cheese made me literally inhale the plate in three seconds. I went for the Jenga Ribs (full rack because lil mama don't play) with Mac n cheese and some Kale on the side. I had chili molasses from ear to ear, it was on out of body experience. Yes, I was full. No, I did not care. I put the other half in a to go container and proceeded to desert. If you're too full after dinner, then get fuller and order Frida's Secret. The chefs call it an Ode to Mexico. I call it a fiery sweet explosion of Jesus in my face. Sweet corn ice cream (yes, it's great!) on top of a dark chocolate chili brownie with caramel galore. I'm not a fan of spicy food buuut this desert is so good, it's worth the kick in the face. Stay tuned! They're going to offer brunch & happy hour very soon! The owner introduced herself at the end of our meal and she is the sweetest thing ever. I really look forward to coming back and trying the fish dish. I'm so happy I found this place. Wish you guys the best of luck. Service was impeccable. The decor is so hipster rustic. Me? I'm just in love with LOBA. Aaaoooohhhh!!

Oh my.... Where to begin?? Ahh the beets! If you have to try just one item from the menu... It has to be the beets!!!! And this advice is coming from the girl who hates beets! Lol it was so tasty! It comes with avocado. Ah... Ok I'm back. Let's make this snappy: Van Goat 3.5/5... If you love goat cheese (I don't) then you'll love it much more than I did. The crust is perfect. It comes with honey on the plate for you to dip it (I would suggest to the chef to use maple syrup instead of honey because it's sweet but not as strong as honey.. But hey what do I know. I would also suggest to make the balls smaller because there's too much goat cheese to crust ratio.. But again.. What do I know?). Corn 3.5/5 it was just corn so there's not much to expect there. It does come with delicious tiny pieces of cheese on it which takes it a little to the next level. Chicken little 3.5/5 I got the bbq flavor and it was awesome. Make sure to eat them hot because if you don't they'll seem dry. Pork belly... I don't eat pork so I'm not speaking from my point of view here: "it was great. Pork belly is hard to cook right because it can come off as chewy but they did a really great job" "Fried" chicken with Mac 2/5... Ok can we all address the elephant in the room here? That chicken is not fried! It's more of a rotisserie... It was a little dry. And the mac and cheese... Very blah. I wouldn't recommend this plate. Frida's secret 2/5... Frida's secret is Azucar sweet corn ice cream over a Mexican brownie and chocolate corn flakes. Sounds delicious right? Well it wasn't! At least not for me... Because you want to know what's Frida's secret?? The secret is that the brownie is spicy!! (I just went online to make sure I listed all the ingredients in Frida's secret and saw that online it says "spicy Mexican brownie" but I can guarantee 150% that on my menu they left out the spicy part out because I looked back on the menu and saw that it said "Mexican brownie") Anyways guys... I went to Loba for my early birthday dinner yay!! And had a great time. The ambiance is nice and so is the food. Oh.. The waiter was very nice so he definitely made up for his slow service lol Now can I get a cyber high 5 for the longest review I've ever written?? Ever!!!!

Food was good but service absolutely terrible and extremely unprofessional! Wait time after we ordered was very long and they brought out 1 of the plates in our party and the rest of the plates didn't come out for about another 15 mins after! Of Course it's typically polite to wait for all to get their food before beginning to eat and by the time the whole party got their food the first plate was cold. Waiting to get our checks took about another 15-20 mins. Nice ambiance inside but the air conditioning appeared to be broken. It was extremely hot and uncomfortable especially for the entire 2 hours that we ended up being there with all the waiting! They appear to be in need of more experience wait staff.

Craft beer, friendly service and a Kale Kobb salad in Miami? I'm in! In LOBA that is. Last night's dinner at the bar was relaxed and satisfying. While the carnivore dishes looked tempting I was in the mood for veg. A half head of cauliflower did the trick. Where have you ever seen a half head of cauliflower on a menu? Needless to say, I'm feeling near virtuous this morning. That doesn't mean I won't be going back to this charming spot to meet some meat. I will and so should you.

My boyfriend and I hit up LOBA on a whim last night. I would recommend making a reservation even when it looks empty. We did not have a reservation but since it was 6:30pm they seated us. Another party around 8pm with no reservation were turned away even though the restaurant was half empty. We have been meaning to hit up LOBA and are happy we did.I had the ribs which were delicious. This was a risk for me since I am very picky when it comes to ribs (my boyfriend makes unforgettable ribs). However, the ribs at LOBA are a must try. We also had the goat cheese balls which were very good. Not sure how I felt about the honey, but the goat cheese balls themselves were yummy. My boyfriend had the fried chicken which was good, only disappointment was with the timing. Two entrees should come out at the same time, not 10 minutes apart, when paying this price. The mac n cheese was very good. I had the Brussels sprouts which was undercooked, I wouldn't recommend it. The staff was great. Very friendly and attentive.

Reservations: This place popular! Make sure to call days in advance. I called on a Friday afternoon to make a reservation for two, only to find out all the reservations were full. Thankfully, they take walk-ins. The hostess was accommodating and offered to seat my friend and I at the bar until she could squeeze us in somewhere. Location & Parking: It is a bit hard to find the restaurant. I passed it twice before finding it. It's next to a motel, so turn as if you are going tithe motel, drive down the alley, and there is a parking lot in the back. If you find the parking lot to be full, there is plenty of metered parking. Be careful, though- the neighborhood isn't the greatest, particularly at night, so don't leave any valuables in your car. Ambience: Relaxed, laid-back, small and intimate. Food: Top notch. The dishes were savory and the presentation was tasteful and artistic. A huge plus for me is that there were several vegetable options. I had the cauliflower and it was delectable (and surprisingly filling).

I wanted so badly to like you, LOBA. Your service was excellent, and the staff seemed so nice and earnest and really willing to make this meal worth the pilgrimage to North Miami, but you just couldn't hit your stride. The octopus was just bad - it was tough and unseasoned. The steak in the patacon was overcooked when I asked for medium - the Mexican corn wasn't worth mentioning after having high hopes for it. The Vincent Van Goat cheese balls were, yes, very good - and the Mexican brownie had a super fun kick to it despite the texture being off. Maybe it was an off night, maybe we're just not meant to be. I'm sorry, LOBA, you seem great but I think we should just be friends.

Simply put, for the first time in a year I found a restaurant competing with the Eating House in my top list. I went on a Friday night as an afterthought even though I had heard the place was quite good. I'm not much of a food critic but my boyfriend and our friend (both of them consumed foodies who know almost EVERY place in Miami where food is worth trying) felt ashamed they hand't tried this place before. Finding it is tricky, but worth the two U turns and Waze's "Elvis" constantly repeating "a-turn right, baby". Anyways, not Elvis fault... Their brussel sprouts were THE BEST I've had so far, even better than Swine's greasy yet somehow addictive ones. The Patacon was...what's the word: orgasmic, maybe? Everything from the oh-so-yummy rib-eye, to the pork belly and even the rice made me giggle, and the HUGE fried plantain was so crispy. My boyfriend had the bandeja paisa, and our friend had the fried chicken and mac. They were both quiet and white-eyed for the most part, which is surprising given than these too can put up a talk show when they get together...or maybe they were out of oxygen...who knows. The wine was good. We had a deconstructed version of key lime pie for dessert , which was also amazing, but honestly I had overdone it at that point and it is hard for me to remember anything else that happened once I was done with the Patacon. Staff was GREAT. Needless to say we're all going back, except Elvis...

Horrible service completely forgot about us and waited for over 45 min when there was only 2 other tables being served. Very uncomfortable and weird feeling. Got the food to go and nothing exciting. Won't be going back. Im so sorry for the owner ;(((

Urban chic. A drunk disheveled local even walked in and sat at the bar (politely escorted out). Parking is scarce. That is just hip dining...got to roll with it. Now, onto the food....basically it is reinvented comfort food with spins on fried chicken (not fried), mac and cheese, pork belly, etc. Not great, but good-- well above average. Service is great until you get served, then is slows to pretty good service. A few refinements, some tweaking, some more experience in the space and it has the potential to go from pretty good to very, very good. Between 3 and 4 stars.

I don't post very often but this deserves a positive review. The dishes I really liked were ceviche with plantain chips, LOBA Burger, and the Ribs were dynamite. The side of corn was spot on. I had two other dishes but I would get those items. Cool Little spot, not that easy to locate. Good prices, nice size portions. There was nothing really wrong with the place so why take away any stars.
