The Nomad Cafe Menu

My in-laws live in Melbourne and we come up every couple of months, I have to say this was my favorite meal so far. From the outside, it looks like the type of Internet Cafe you see in european coastal towns, but inside they have white table cloths, good food, and quite a large menu. The concept is international cuisine, so they have a little bit of everything. My father in law likes the Habachi Steak, I had the asparagus pappardelle with veggies, it was very good. My husband and mother in law both had the fish, which was also delicious. If you're visiting and looking for a nice place for dinner, definitely check out The Nomad.

Excellent food and service! Everytime i go the cuisine is varied and of the highest quality. All ingredients are fresh, their salads are local and organic. I always add the soup of the day to my dinner, every one i have had has been very good. Wish they were open later and had more seating though...

This is the only restaurant in Melbourne that I would be proud to take visitors with any taste to. We have been many times in the past year and have never had anything but a fabulous experience. The food is all freshly prepared and delicious. The service has always been very friendly and attentive. I would recommend reservations. My only complaint is that the tables are too close together, so your neighbors conversation becomes part of your dining experience, but it is a very small place, so go with the flow.

The negative reviews here confuse me. We went for dinner a few weeks ago, and we were quite pleased. Enough that would would absolutely return. Is it a mish-mash of various ethnic cuisines? YES. Hello? Look at the name of the place. There were seven of us, and we all pretty much ordered something different. One note was that one of us ordered a Duck dish, and could not have it because it was "Still Cooking". Now that simple statement would be seen as a negative by some, but to me it is an important statement: They actually cook the food. It is not a "reheat and serve" place like most others. For appetizers, we had Guacamole & Chips and some hummus. The Guac was fresh, not the canned junk. The Hummus was very different, but very good. Main courses ranged from Burritos to Skirt steak, to Gyros. All of it was excellent, and all seven of us walked away VERY happy. Another review mentioned slow service and a bad attitude. Not our experience at all. The staff was very friendly, and the service was excellent. I saw the reviewer complaining about the lamb not being cooked properly. Well, as I said above... in Central Florida you are already winning when you learn that they are actually cooking the food. My guess is the reviewer was probably very impatient an should stick with Chilis and Fridays. Had "Hummingbird Cake" (I think that is what it was called), and it was FANTASTIC. OK, so all positive... why four stars and not five. That is kinda hard to say. It was very good, especially for the area, but it didn't knock my socks off. I have the feeling that I will need to go back again and take another stab at it. If it is great again, I think I might up this to five stars.

Confusion Fusion! Got a chance to bring friends to try out the Nomad at the corner of Hwy 1 & E New Haven where several have fallen. Restaurant was clean and really busy at lunch, great to see. Service was good, we had a very pleasant and helpful server. Food, very interesting menu. It ranged from French onion soup, pulled pork to Mexican fish tacos. A fusion mix that I've never seen to this extent and not so sure if it's a good thing. A little identity crisis. We ordered a habanero pulled pork sandwich, drunken chicken pasta, seafood burrito and a Chile Relleno. Mixed reviews from the gang. Habanero pulled pork- Fresh torta with avacado, tomato, lettuce and pulled pork. Meat was really good but there was absolutely not heat or hint of any habanero. Sounded interesting but was really just a really good pulled pork sandwich. Drunken chicken pasta- well cooked pasta in a tequila sauce. It was a little too drunken, all that you could taste was the tequila. Good but not great. Seafood Burrito- huge portion, however there were quite a few shells not sifted through which was discouraging and the sauce was bland. It could have used a little spice. Chile relleno- nice size poblano pepper stuffed with oaxaca cheese which is like monterey jack, egg battered. Cheese was really good but the batter was not fully cooked and mushy. So every dish had some good points and issues. Flavors needed a little more kick. I realize that the whole fusion variety is their edge, but they need to nail down their dishes or they'll lose their edge.

I don't write reviews - ever but this restaurant experience must be shared. I loved all the food as did my family. Everything is fresh and prepared on site. The pasta is even prepared here. I am still at the restaurant while writing this review and can't say enough about the food. I don't understand the reviews that have negative comments about the service because my experience tonight was top notch. We will also be back tomorrow for more!

Food is great. Been several times. A lot of variety here. Problems are numerous though. Says French offered. Where is french on menu? Seating takes a while. Staff seems confused. Ordering takes forever and food comes just about before you pass out from hunger. I only keep coming back cause my mom wants to go. Niki and I would never come on our own.

Had heard about the nomad so I went tonight. Spanicopita (sp?) was soggy and burnt. Service was horrible and slow. I asked for extra cheese for my chicken fajita - wannabes and I was charged an extra dollar. I will never go back there. Horrible place ... Horrible service... Very bad food.

I'm starting this review from the restaurant right now, since we're still sitting here after one hour waiting for the lamb to be cooked properly. It came out the first time and the meat was completely rare. The lamb was still crying on the plate. Even when the manager came she admitted that it was not fit to consume and had it sent back to the kitchen. I would give it NO stars if I could, the only reason why this place deserved even one star was the manager, who seemed genuinely apologetic about the food. On the other hand, the waitress was completely rude (still is) and will probably be the worst part of the dinner. After dinner...The food. We had two orders of the haddock, lamb, shrimp scampi, and hibachi steak. I had a side order of rice with my food, which as in the menu, was supposed to come with the order. It didn't, and I ended up paying for it anyway because talking to the waitress only resulted in her rolling her eyes at us like we were bothering her or something. I could probably have a better time talking to a cow. Also, since it took so long for the lamb to cook and they delivered the food together, all our food came out cold. Heads up, don't order the shrimp scampi, the six averaged sized shrimps are NOT worth 18!!! We were shocked when it came out... We came here for dinner hoping that we would get the same experience as the other yelpers, and that the food was good. It was a big disappointment, I guess it was just one of those nights....I would never come back here and wouldn't recommend it.

As full time nomads ourselves, we just had to stop in here! The menu had quite a few interesting options, but not nearly as fusion or eclectic as we might have been hoping for. But for meeting the needs of multiple diners with differing tastes, there should be something for just about anyone. The options for gluten free and/or vegetarian however, were rather limited. The chili rellano (cheese) was good - a bit on the oily side. And the side dish of beans & rice was smaller of a serving than you might get in a standard Mexican cafe (probably not a bad thing.) The pulled chicken torta was quite tasty, although a bit on the messy side. Which is rather awkward with fancy white tablecloths. The service was quite pleasant and attentive. And when one of our dining companions had a problem with his dish, they quickly fixed it.

Our new favorite cafe in Melbourne! The location isn't great, but the food makes up for that! The prices are reasonable and the wait staff were pleasant. I look forward to frequent visits to try out the menu.

This place is a regular outing for our family of four. We are grateful for the many vegan options on the menu, and the manager is very helpful in making other menu items vegan for us. We have had only great service here, and are surprised to see any negative reviews in regard to service. As for the quality of the food, it is delicious! The atmosphere is festive, with cloth table clothes and very nice decor, despite the cruder exterior of the building. Reservations are a must on weekend evenings, and probably advisable on weekdays as well, as this is a small (intimate!) restaurant. Finally, something in Melbourne with some originality.

I've been there 3 times now and each time the food was excellent and the service great! I'm not a foodie, don't put on airs. All I know was that I've really enjoyed it each time I've been here.

I'm very disappointed. I've been eyeing this place forever and finally got my boyfriend to go. Service was terrible. Took 10 minutes to get our drinks after we ordered them. The menu, while supposedly diverse and offering many styles of cuisine, mainly consisted of Mexican entrees. Only ordered drinks and asked for the check. No worries though, it was delivered within 30 seconds. Won't be coming back.

MAY 2012 What a gem! I was visiting Melbourne and wanted to find a place for lunch before my flight out. We had a groupon so decided to check it out. They had a nice variety on the menu. We decided on the chicken tikka pita, chicken souvlaki and the fish tacos. I had the chicken tikka which I would definitely order again. My mom had the souvlaki which she enjoyed as well but got a side of feta to complete the meal. My dad got the fish tacos with avocado and refrained beans, they have two ways to order. Not sure he loved it but he ate it all! Couldn't really taste any flavor of the fish. We met the owner who was very friendly. Her and her husband moved here from NY where they owned a Mexican restaurant. They weren't planning to start one when they moved to Florida, but I'm glad they did. Delightful!!! We will definitely be back. Good prices too!

This is a most unusual find and would be so easy to drive past. This restaurant has a little something from most continents and they do it well. Fresh and V/GF friendly, I've had fantastic meals multiple times, but only now am writing a review. Please look past the fact that it's a renovated gas station. Who cares? Inside, the tables have tablecloths!! oh yeah, great food, too. This is a definite shouldn't miss it.

One of my favorite places to go and eat. Super friendly staff who always remember you :) fresh home made from scratch food which is just absolutely phenomenal as well are the affordable prices and a pleasant relaxed atmosphere. I love seeing what the new daily specials are because I love the variety and creativity involved in each one. I have never had a bad meal and don't expect to ever get one. Please try this wonderful restaurant. You won't be disappointed!!! Also, try the tres leches cake before you leave ;)

This chef has got to be the best in Brevard County. Get one of his specials any day and you will love it. His soups are all home made and yummy. We go out to eat almost every day and this restaurant is #1 on our list

This is our favorite place in Melbourne and Brevard County. The food is superb, every time (just has lunch there today). Don't be confused by the wide variety of food and flavors; the Mexican is authentic, handmade and wonderful. The other themes of cuisine are equally well crafted. If you think the negative reviews are for real, try getting a reservation on Thu., Fri., or Sat nights! Booked! We love this place, it's a jewel for us here in here in Melbourne.

Been here twice and thought it was wonderful! The service was great, the waitress remember us and our exact orders from the first time! Everything comes out fast and tastes pretty fresh. I would definitely go back! [= Make sure you try the hummingbird cake!

Great service and food. Interior is a lot more attractive than the exterior, don't let it steer you away. Lots of great ethnic menu choices! Overall a great experience, the area needs more restaurants like this.

I went here for lunch with a friend and we were both pleasantly surprised! She had the taco Classico and thought it was excellent. She especially like the use of cilantro, enough to taste it but not enough to over power The portions were perfect for her and she cleaned her plate, something I have never seen her do. I had The Tikka and I loved it. The waitress warned me that the hummus was garlicky but i didn't find that at all. The chicken was cooked well enough to have a nice char but not enough to be too dry. It came with a cilantro-lime "sauce" which was actually olive oil with the cilantro and lime mixed in. It was very good. A nice touch was the side of fruit, now normally at restaurants fruit is melon with some grapes and put right on your plate to leak all over your food. The fruit was apples, pineapples, grapes and cranberries cut up and presented in a bowl. They took the time to make it presentable. We were extremely happy with the service, the food and the location. We will definitely be coming back!

Had dinner here while on vacation from DC We had the guacamole (tasty, homemade chips), greek salad (good, with an egg for a different twist), and shared the drunken fish (delicious creamy sauce, yummy rice, only wish it had been served with a vegetable). Finished with cafe con leche (very good, served in a cute urn-like mug) (i realize that doesn't sound cute, but trust me, it was) and tres leches cake (very good, with apples and rum, clearly not authentic, but it's not trying to be). Our server was great, attentive. We sat outside to enjoy the weather, but the interior had a very nice ambiance if you end up sitting inside. One of our best meals while in town. Would gladly come back.

This is one of the few places in Melbourne I go to eat out at. I have eaten here several times and overall the food quality is great. I have had a couple things on the menu I don't like as much as other things, but in general you will get a great meal with beautiful presentation. I always order the mussels appetizer because the sauce it comes in is amazing! I have not had any mussels in the States (even at some fancy places in bigger cities) that have stood up to this sauce. I just wish I could a whole meal sized instead of a dozen mussels and that they gave out more bread to soak up that amazing sauce!!! One time I ordered it and mussels were overcooked, but everyone has their off days and I was still happy to have my sauce! i have had some of their dinner specials too that were pretty delicious and for the quality a reasonable price. The menu might be insanely eclectic and initially I first thought you can't possibly do that many different types of food well, but they pull it off. It's a nice variety for everyone, a variety of food types and price ranges too! The location is crazy and parking a little more difficult when packed but I haven't ever had too much trouble. Definitely check this place out, but make a reservation if its on the weekend!

We have eaten at Nomad many times but recently it is impossible to make a reservation. Three times in recent weeks, I have called their number and left voice mail requesting reservation date and time as instructed by the message. No one even bothers to return the call. On one of these times a few months ago we just dropped by only to be told that they were booked and we should have made a reservation. Regardless of how much we like the food I will not (and suggest you not) support a business with so little regard for customers.

The service was very slow! I had Baja taco and it was a joke . The presentation was unbelievable . It was extremely hard to recognize the black blob on the plate as black beans. The rice was disgusting . The taco filling was almost nonexistent . There are so many other places to go this does not deserve another visit.

In a town full of restaurants that spend more money on the decor than they do on their food, Nomad Cafe is a welcomed change. Having eaten there several times so far I have yet to have a bad meal or bad service there. Don't let the fascade fool you. This food is not like any of the other places that have failed in this location. This place is definitely worth the try.

Love the lunch specials, really shows off the skills of the kitchen staff. Had the falafel with chicken and orzo soup, really well done. Soup was light but flavorful and the falafel was top shelf. Crispy outside with a soft center. Pita was perfectly done as well, yogurt sauce was also very tasty but not overpowering. My only knock is that I felt underdressed, shorts and flops aren't normal attire for the place. That's just how I roll though, lol!

If I want to have a great meal in Brevard, I eat at The Nomad. No matter what I order it's always awesome and the menu has something new to choose from. It's small so make reservations on the weekend. Save room for The Hummingbird Cake!

Definitely not worth the money. I had heard mostly good things about nomad cafe and thought we would give it a try. Service was severely lacking and the timing of food delivery was terribly off. The food was tasty but not worth the price for the service and aggravation that went with it. My dinner experience was spent with the entire table angry for the lack of service.

I took a group of seven for lunch. I called ahead to get a table as are pretty busy at lunchtime. The food is always good.the service was good. the crabcake special was on the small side and a little pricey but good . Others had the blue cheese burger, chicken quesadilla, spanakopita and everyone enjoyed their meal.

Cute little cafe with a well done menu. I loved my balsamic portabella burger which was made vegan for my by substituting hummus for goat cheese as a side I had a house salad with an out of this world roasted red pepper dressing. Loved that the menu had veg and GF options although not vegan many things can be easily made vegan which is an A+ in my book. I'll be back for sure.

Delicious!! Had the special app of the day which was a duck donut and it was so delicious. Light and airy - wish it was on the menu permanently. Cobb salad was also good. Enchiladas excellent. Very varied menu to appeal to everyone. No liquor, just beer and wine. Nice atmosphere with cool artwork for sale. Would absolutely go back.

Nomad is a local and European place. Small and cozy. The drink and food is excellent. The service is green but acceptable. Overall a solid three to four star rating. Make sure to make a reservation for a nice seating. We liked it.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
