Food is great, but overpriced. Service is awfuland they can't do math.

Taste of India is - I believe - the ONLY indian restaurant in Melbourne. That being said, it's absolutely wonderful. My husband and I have been going there for a few years, and the food is well made, fresh and delicious. My hubby always goes for the butter chicken, which comes with a generous portion of white/jasmine rice and the butter chicken sauce served separately in it's own dish so you can put as much or as little sauce and rice as you would like. In fact, all the dishes we've ordered come like that. Make sure to try the naan bread, and my favorite drink is the mango lassi, which is a yogurt-based drink, and its coolness offsets any extra spiciness you may find in your entree. They will make your food as spicy or as mild as you like, but whatever the chef prepares is good for me. I think they may downplay the spice for the American crowd. An excellent place, we will continue to patronize this restaurant. edit: 08/29/09 Taste of India expanded their dining room to the place next door (the one on the left if you're standing in front of the restaurant.) Lots more seating, a lot of room for the buffet. I'm glad to see they're doing so well. Had the lunch buffet and it was awesome. GREAT lunch and dinner place.

Every once and a while I'll drive my scooter to work and pass by this place. You can smell the curry from the traffic light in either direction (and that's probably 100 yards away.) The buffet is always hot fresh and at a good price. Green curry red curry yellow curry whatever you're eating here it's def authentic and they seem to take pride in the place. It stinks they aren't in a stand alone building because parking is minimal. The atmosphere leads you to believe you are in india as you walk through the doors. As far as the food goes I ordered the Shrimp Pappas which came out piping hot. I loved the dish but the menu is so big I'd probably try something new next time. By the time I finished eating I was pretty full until the table next to us had their order arrive. It smelled so good I had to ask what it was they ordered. It was Chicken Hariyali which is a dish drowned in what looked like coconut milk mint and cilantro. I'm a big cilantro fan and when I say big I could pretty much eat that herb as a salad. So when the aromatic dish came out I def knew what I would be ordering the next time I came. Take the time out to try this place it def gets my endorsement.

I don't have to drive to Orlando anymore for great Indian food. The Tikka and Korma were dishes of preference. Rose ice cream with spiced tea is a must!

I'm very fond of the food and the bread! Went with my girlfriend, who is from India, and she wasn't as impressed. The food is still good, just has American twists, compromising its authenticity. The waiter was helpful but seemed impatient. Overall it was good and I would recommend it.

Best Indian food on the Space Coast for sure. In fact, best Indian food I have ever had in general. I come here as often as I can, but it is about 45 minute drive from home, so I don't make it as often as I would like to. Their lunch buffet is really good. I have even converted people who said they didn't like Indian food by taking them here!

I've always been a little afraid of Indian food because all of my experiences and just about every opinion I've heard has been negative. That being said, Taste of India was the complete opposite of what I thought it'd be. My family and I went for lunch and they have an open lunch buffet of all traditional, homemade food. Indian food is known for its seasoning and it didn't disappoint. Everything tastes amazing. This place is definitely somewhere that everyone should try but come during lunch time so you can try a little of everything. The restaurant is on the small and cozy side. It's quiet and you can find people from just about every ethnicity in there eating. The service is good. You can't beat authenticity!

  • Azais C.

When everyone dining in the restaurant is actually Indian, you have a pretty reassuring sign that the food will be decent. Locals don't usually eat crappy versions of their ethnic dishes. With that said, I am giving Taste of India a cheerful thumbs up for unique flavors and VARIETY of South Indian dishes. A perk for vegans includes labeled "vegan" items on the menu, so less time is spent asking a cascade of annoying questions about animal products to a clueless often flustered server. The prices were also fair ($8-13 entrees). I hear their lunch buffet is the shiznit. Why only 3 stars you wonder? Service is subpar. It took over half an hour to get served, and our waitress told me nan bread was made without animal products when in fact there is milk added to the dough. Know your ingredients, wait staff! I'm a stickler for quality customer service; I don't care how bitchin' your food is.

So disappointing. Imagine, a buffet with only three vegetarian items and I had to guess which three they were. If you don't know your Indian Food by its name, good luck guessing as the two staff people servicing the buffet didn't know what was what. And the 'manager' just rolled his eyes when employees asked for guidance. Maybe I'm spoiled coming from the great Indian buffets in Boston and Cambridge and even North Andover MA. So the Naan was either soggy or burnt. Your choice. The Peas were delicious. That's how the dish was labelled. Saag was missing paneer. White veg rice was just that. And speaking of white, I totally did not appreciate that ethnic Indian diners were seated in the main room with great Bollywood musical accompaniment while the non ethnic Indian diners were seated in the very quiet buffet room. And it was $13.95. Not worth it.

It is unfortunate that we have driven by this restaurant so many times without stopping. Tonight was our first meal here but definitely won't be our last. Not knowing Indian food, the owner personally made recommendations based on our likes and we were totally delighted. So many dishes to choose from, an attentive staff and a cheery atmosphere...we will be back again very soon!

  • Arsalan M.

I had high hopes for this place based on all the reviews but i should have realised that the space coast is not really a center for gastronomy especially when it comes to ethnic cuisine. If you are unfamiliar with Indian food or want to dip your toe into a new cuisine, this may be a good bet but for someone who grew up on desi food and lives in the DC area with our countless indian food options, this place was a total miss. Even the very basics like butter chicken and tikka masala are poorly executed. The naan was like rubber; add to that the lack of ambiance makes this place a skip in my book.

  • Hannah E.

The lunch buffet here was enjoyable at a reasonable price. Eating here was more fun than writing (or reading!) this review will be, mainly because nothing stood out, really, except the welcome fact of tender, non-overcooked chicken from the tandoor and in tikka masala and curry alike. The saag-like greens contained cauliflower and broccoli in addition to spinach, and what looked like pakoras ended up being, I think, chickpea-flour-fried plantains! (EVERY restaurant seems to have plantains in some format or another in Florida.) A well-rounded lunch, and a welcome break in my workday.

Maybe they're having a bad day but I was served fermented mango lassi, rice pudding, mint chutney and anything with a yogurt base was also fermented. Buffet food had several scorched items. Quality checks are not in place. Very disappointed. I love Indian food the most but the prep cooks and chefs are not checking for quality or expiration dates on their products. Lots of variety on the buffet but I couldn't enjoy half of it due to the food being burnt or fermented

Fantastic taste of India , I loved the dish achari murg n kondapur veg.over all the food was good and wait staff is awesome .In appetizer one must try chicken 65 and chicken lollypop.one of best restaurant for Indian taste.

We had a fantastic dinner here. The butter chicken was very good. Garlic naan was excellent. But we were blown away by a vegetarian dish we tried on the recommendation of our server. I can't recall the proper spelling of the dish, but it is designated "V-1" on the menu. The dish consisted of balls of ground vegetables and raisins in a cream sauce (the menu described these balls as "croquettes", which I don't think is a helpful or accurate description). It was probably the best Indian dish I've ever eaten. Such a richness and complexity of flavors. Stellar. I cannot stress enough how important it is that you try "V-1" if you come here. Taste of India is now one of my favorite restaurants in Brevard County. A few small concerns, however. We had to wait a very long time for food, even accounting for the 'made from scratch' factor. The men's restroom was also absolutely filthy. Note - I had the lunch buffet here several years ago and thought it was very good. But dinner is on a whole different (better!) level.

Fantastic Indian food! I'm a huge fan of their Lamb kourma formally called the Lamb Pasanda. It's fantastic. Full of flavor and delicious. Best Indian restaurant in town.

First time I've ever tried Indian food...... It was amazing. We had the lunch buffet. Great way to try different things. YOU MUST ORDER THE GARLIC NAAN BREAD. OMG IT'S DELICIOUS!

  • Pat W.

Food is ok but the service is less to be desire. Lentil soup was very good if you like coconut milk, but they serve it with a wide serving spoon to large for your mouth. We had several servers that did not communicate with each other. Very dry personalities but I think it cultural. Enjoy the garlic naan and the chicken saag. Very well decorated and a little dark but ok still beautiful.

Amazing! Went for the lunch buffet. Didn't realized they opened at 11:30, so we sat outside for a few before they did. Completely amazing. We were escorted to a table, asked what we wanted to drink, and then went to the buffet. Our drinks were waiting by the time we went back to our table from grabbing a plate of food. The food. Oh man. The food. The flavors were amazing. The basmati rice was perfectly cooked and flavorful, the vegetarian selections were amazing.. Everything was so full of flavor. The tandoori chicken is probably something that I'll dream about for time to come. My favorite though? The tikka masala ... And the naan. Add the naan to the sauce and it's a pretty excellent flavor explosion. I don't know if it's just because we went right as they opened for if this is the norm- but the food was fresh, hot, and extremely delicious. I was always afraid of Indian food for whatever reason but I think I've found a new favorite. Check this place out- you won't be disappointed.

I used to work just down the road, so had the lunch buffet frequently at least once a week for almost a year. My daughter was vegetarian for several years, so this was a staple for dining out. Since then we've been many times for both the lunch buffet and ala carte dinner. I was introduced to good Indian food when I worked with Indian colleagues, and would have pot luck. I've also had Indian food in London, San Francisco, DC and many places in between. The dishes are well executed with good use of spices. Vindaloo is very spicy, as it should be. Naan and other breads are tasty. The lunch buffet offers a good variety and is an excellent value. Service is prompt and not intrusive, which some might mistake for being inattentive or unfriendly. I think they're just reserved and respectful of their guests. My drink kept full and plates cleared. When we enter, there is usually a quick and warm inquiry if my daughter would care for her regular tea and the young man rushes off to pull. Yes, we've eaten here often enough that we're regulars. We wouldn't keep coming if it wasn't quite good food and service.

The Lunch Buffett is the best deal going. It's also all quality food and not cheap buffet food.

Yes sir, the food here is very good. I have had the lamb and chicken curries. I enjoy the Nan and their samosa is good to go. I recommend the food for sure! HOWEVER (and here is the 3 star part) the service is not where it needs to be. I ordered spicy for me and the wife and mild for the kids and and some mint chutney...... you already know. There were no markings to indicate the spice level on the containers, and that would have been fine (2 lamb 1 chicken, no prob to figure out right?) but when the kids started eating here comes the "it's so spicy". I check it out and yep, that was the case. I taste my lamb, not spicy at all. Would be ok but now kids eat my food. Not a big deal, at least the wife's order is good right?....... yep right up until she asks me for the mint chutney that she called me at work and asked for. It's MIA. I share some blame as I should have looked, but the service staff has an issue with attention to detail. This is my 2nd time here and they are 50/50, and I'll go again and I hope I can bump this to a 4, but for now they get 4 on food and 2 on service to make this a 3 star eating experience.

Our second time here and the food was very good. The waitstaff was friendly and efficient but not very knowledgeable. They need to hire help who understands the Indian menu. Nice atmosphere though a bit noisy. But came here for Indian food and it did not disappoint.

We were driving down 95 en route to elsewhere, and found this place on Yelp by chance. What a find. The food was superb and the service friendly, welcoming and informative. We're stopping for lunch on the way back!

Our go to Indian Restaurant. The chef has changed recently and brought a new twist to the consistently great food. The buffet is the key. Great balance of vegetarian and meat dishes. We drive from Vero Beach on a regular basis with (expandable pants) to hit up the buffet on Saturday afternoon and make the most of it. We have gotten to know he staff and they are prompt and courteous. they take great care of our kids requests when we are there as well. Highly recommend it.

This is our new vegetarian haven. They have plenty of delicious food for us on the menu and the buffet while also giving our carnivorous friends and family lots to eat as well. The place is clean, the staff is nice and will get to know you. I have gone a few times and each time i am a little more impressed.

Very unfriendly staff. Good food wasn't worth the uncomfortable feeling the rude employees gave us. Buffet had a good variety of food and was good. Too bad.

  • Dub T.

Food was amazing - every bit as good as the food I had while in India recently. Korma was good, and not overly sweet, but I particularly love some of the South Indian specialty Dosas. Prices are reasonable given the fantastic quality of the food, and the service is prompt, attentive and friendly. Overall, a great meal!

It pains me to write this review but I felt it necessary to share my thoughts. Though this restaurant may have been one of the best in town at a time, there has been a steady decline. The last two times I visited, either the sauce was inexplicably watery or given in a much smaller quantity than it used to be served. I am sharing this new review to warn potential visitors. My last two experiences and other recent reviews have left me alarmed. I've had some of the best meals I've ever eaten at this establishment but it is not acceptable to serve customers an inferior product. I only drop the rating down one star because I am hoping it is just a small bump in the road and nothing to be worried about. But considering the food is not especially cheap I wanted to let potential customers know about the possibility of the restaurant going downhill. Hopefully, someone from Taste of India will read this and realize that loyal customers can only stay loyal when they're being valued. It's hard to say the next time I'll be back because if you can't count on the consistency of food at a restaurant, what's the point of going?

Always fantastic food. Incredibly friendly service. The lunch buffet always has a great variety of cuisine which has helped me know what to order when I come back for dinner. I highly recommend A Taste of India for a fantastic meal.

I've been here 4 or 5 times so far and the food is always excellent. The atmosphere is great for dates in the evening and very nice for friends grabbing lunch during the day. They have a lunch buffet for about $5 or $6 with different vegetarian and meat options, nan, and it's a little different each day. For the evening, meals are well presented, come out in a reasonable amount of time, and are well portioned.

June 10 2015 We have been here for Lunch and were always happy with the flavors and choices' Tonight we came for supper and were surprised at the on point presentation, flavors outstanding, and service was good! This was like having a great chef in London bringing you fine food with excellent flavors in everything from soup to garlic naan. lamb and curried fish, All were as great as you would expect to find in London!!! One of the best Indian lunch buffets I have ever been to. For sure the best in Brevard County. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are great!

Don't eat chicken dum biryani here. It's tastes like shit. But the afternoon buffet is good. The time they serve the food from the time of order is more than 10 round trips to New York .

  • Bruce L.

The food was very good, and there was a lot of it, however, the service was for the most part illiterate. Ordered an appetizer and it was brought to us as an entrée for some reason. The second entrée showed up but wasn't what was ordered. Forty-five minutes later all of it came back up as very unpleasant vomit. No plans on going back.

Great Chicken Tika Marsala. Loved the garlic nan. The service was fantastic. I may fly/drive back just to dine with them again. Thank you. Namaste.

If there is a better Indian Restaurant in Florida I have not found it. We stop at Taste of India quite frequently when we pass through Melbourne. We live between Melbourne and Palm Beach...sometimes if we have choice between going North or South, Taste of India tips the scales in favor of North. Not only is the food here amazing, but you can tell the family that runs this place truly loves what they do and the customers that patronize their business. I won't recommend any one item on the menu because it is all very, very good.

I am an avid foodie and I live in Melbourne,FL and I love to try out different cuisine, time to time. Nevertheless, I find INDIAN Cuisine to be the best. I have had food at Taste of India on multiple occasions and I find the food to get worse time to time. I have had both Buffet and A La Carte at Taste of India. I am going to rant for a while so stay with me. To start with: 1: Customer service: I would give 2 on 5. The waiters were rude and weren't courteous at all. They were just indifferent. I say this with my experience on multiple times. 2. Food: I would not even think of rating the food quality at the Buffet and for the A La Carte, I would give 2.5 on 5. BUFFET * About the food at the afternoon Buffet, all the condiments were watered down to the maximum and they would taste just like some flavored water we get at Walmart with Indian touch. * I want to ask this question to the folks at Taste of India, Who serves Hummus as INDIAN Cuisine, SERIOUSLY !! * What they serve as Basmati Rice in Taste of India is basically Basmati rice adulterated with another kind of rice called Sona Masuri. * The vegetables and meat ( Entrée's) were all right. Although I want to mention that, the Entrée's have been same on multiple occasions. * Coming to Dessert's on the Buffet, Gajar Ka Halwa was full of food essence/coloring. Rice Pudding was watered down to the maximum. But the SHOW STOPPER was Gulab Jamun, they were basically charred rocks in syrup. You all should try it once, make sure you make an appointment with your dentist before heading there. * On my recent visit to the restaurant two days back, I fell ill with FOOD POISONING and I am still recovering from the same DINNER/A La Carte * The service as mentioned before was poor and in different. Once the order was placed the waiter was very difficult man to get hold of. * They took ages to get the food served and once we got it the food was cold.

Definitely not the best Indian food I've had. Their saag and korma were not done anything like other indian restaurants and I would suggest not wasting your money on either of these two items. Their chicken tika masala is not bad at all. The two stars given go for their service and ambiance. I won't be back.

  • Danielle K.

Being a vegetarian, this place was my top favorite a few years ago. In fact, the only place I will go to. The variety of vegetables was astonishing, like fresh baby eggplants or okras. Spinach with real paneer (chees cubes). Each vegetable spiced very distinctively from the others. What a feast! I have to say that, like other reviewers, I also have found the quality and variety declining. To the point that I don't even go there anymore. Indian food is not the most healthy type, and there is no point for me to indulge in greasy food, unless it is absolutely delicious. Won't waste my 'calorie allowance' on so-so Indian food. I would much prefer them hiking their price if necessary, and keeping the food the way it was.

Unlike the blah taste of the chinese buffets in the area, and the even yuckier buffet a la Golden C. (places that the uninitiated will try and swear thereafter never to make the same mistake ever again), Taste of India is by far the best buffet in the area. I enjoy coming to this restaurant for lunch because, while dinner is still excellent, I enjoy the large selection and all-you-can-eat of the lunch buffet. After having at least 2 full portions for lunch, i am usually so full and satisfied that I skip dinner for the day. The decor is decent. When first walking in, you will enter a dining area, but the buffet is in a section off to the left. For lunch most people sit in the section near the buffet. The buffet section has 2-3 TV screens with indian music videos playing. If not deep in conversation i may enjoy watching the Bollywood moves on TV. In terms of the taste, the Indian cuisine at this restaurant is in the top 5 of all indian restaurants I have ever eaten, and definately best in Brevard county. I can subsist off of the vegetarian meals if I was vegan, but since I'm not, I usually enjoy a helping of the chicken vindaloo, masala, or tandori chicken. The place also usually has a goat or lamb dish in there somewhere too. All meals can be complimented with fresh salad, nan, and/or rice. Dessert is usually rice pudding or a soft round pastry drenched in maple syrup. I usually opt for the rice pudding because the pastry is too sweet for my taste. The entire experience is complimented by a staff that brings drinks, maintains the buffet, and usually clears my completed plate while I'm back at the buffet stands getting a second helping. Overall excellent meal, especially considering the all you can eat buffet.

Seriously, it's not a bad deal for the lunch buffet. $10 and it's better than any Indian lunch buffet I've had in recent memory. I really was hoping to try an actual menu item but my dining companions didn't want to wait, so I followed suit. I was expecting a lot of completely bland options (after all, they have to be conservative on a buffet when not everyone likes spicy food), but much of what was there had actual FLAVOR, and it was surprising! A return trip is warranted. I'm glad this place is close to my new office.

Thank you YELPERS Taste of India is a very good buffet - with actual flavor and Naan to die for. The owner and staff are very friendly and service with a smile. I have never come for dinner - only the lunch buffet - and it is of very good quality ingredients, good selection (not too huge) and actually tastes wonderful. The decor is nice. This is one of the best Indian cuisine in the area. Always steady/busy (which is an indication of their good cuisine).

Wow this place was amazing!!!! The best Indian food I have had in a long time. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful. After three sips they were by the table ready to refill my water glass. The menu has a lot of pictures with in depth descriptions as well. The vegetable samosas were very good. Filled with big chunks of potato and a nice amount of peas. They placed thin white chip looking things on the table with three different sauces. Each order of naan was hefty. The onion nan had fresh onion and the bread was perfectly cooked. The garlic naan was not over powering yet perfectly seasoned. We ordered raita and they brought out a huge bowl of it....yes!!! The chicken tika came with huge pieces of boneless chicken with sizzling onions and peppers. We were four people and they brought enough rice for eight people. I also had the chicken korma. It was so good. I was happy to have a bunch of naan bread to soak up all of the sauce. The flavor was incredible, rich, and nutty. Everything we ate here I want to order again. portions are large, prices are fair, atmosphere is nice, and the bathrooms are very clean. I had a very enjoyable experience here and would come back again.

Nice find... Taste of India is located in a strip mall and is decorated in tastefully Indian decor. When I asked the waiter about their version of Lamb Korma I was a bit disappointed, as the waiter explained that it was not the brown gravy, yogurt and raisin and nut gravy I had seen in many other places. Maybe this was the Americanized place others on Yelp had mentioned. I started off with a slightly doughy, but otherwise tasty samosa. The garlic naan was as good as you'll find anywhere. The recommended main course was Chicken Tikka. The meal came sizzling on an iron plate along with an interesting mashed potato side, described only as "mashed potato with other ingredients" by my waiter. A tasty gravy came on the side. Pouring the gravy on my plate, adding the Chicken and some white rice yielded a delightful Tikka. Dipping the naan in the gravy is always a highlight of my Indian meal, and this dish did not let me down. Before I left, the manager, Danesh, came by and asked me how my meals was. I asked again about the korma gravy ane he proudly explained their korma recipe, bringing me a sample. It was made with heavy cream rather tham yogurt, but otherwise was a worthy representation of this gravy. I was sorry I didn't have the korma, but there is always next time... Indian music played in the background, and an Indian staff all added to the experience. All in all this was a very nice find in Melbourne, and I will be back!

I was traveling with an Indian colleague who claimed this is the best Indian joint in the country. He was right. Wow this place is good. In most Indian places, the dish is overpowered by one of the flavors. This place does a fantastic job of bringing out all the underlying flavors. We went for dinner twice in 2 days. That's how good it is.

I tried lunch buffet and it was really good. all the curries had distinct flavors unlike other places where every thing tastes alike. I also tried a lacarte once and food was delivered as spicy as requested. Overall very good food and nice ambience.

Dude... as I was walking in for lunch a group of Indian gentlemen were leaving, thats gotta be a good sign. The weekday lunch buffet was most excellent. Lamb curry, Chicken curry, Mushroom curry, this&that curry, Nan bread, Tandori chicken, Basmati rice, full Indian salad bar, etc etc etc... the selection was very nice and piping hot. It was a full house today at @1:30pm. Waiters running all around the place with friendly service. I'll definitely go again. Will add the 5th star when the dessert menu expands. Think there was just a sweet donut dish.

Taste of India, to me, reads more like a British curry house than a traditional Indian restaurant. When I look for Indian food, I want to see a few important things on the menu and done correctly. These things are: a good selection of appetizers (most of them fried), dosas (any way I can get them), at least five different bread offerings, and 20+ varieties of regional curry. This place delivers on all those points and does them extremely well. We've been there a few times and have always left over-full and highly satisfied. Our last trip, both curries (my wife had the Chicken Madras and I had the Lamb Neelgiri Korma) were a little heavy-handed on the coconut milk and slightly under-seasoned. This would typically warrant a 4 star or less review from me. However, on this occasion, the service given to me and the service I witnessed given to others pushed them up to a 5. When I indicated to the server that I needed a little more heat in my dish, he returned in a few moments with a decent portion of the Phaal and gave a 1-2 minute description and discussion of how it is different than others I might have tried. A few dashes of this added to both of our plates transformed them from average to extraordinary. Another couple was having a very vocal disagreement over the honoring of Restaurant.com gift certificates on weekend nights, but despite their policy, the management chose to discount their meal to offset the amount of the coupon. This has become our only choice for Indian food on the Treasure Coast.

Taste of India has a great atmosphere, excellent service, and incredible food. In my opinion this is one of the best restaurants in Brevard County and the best Indian I have had .The lunch buffet is reasonably priced and always fresh. The atmosphere changes at night and it is an excellent place to take a date, the family, and they can easily accommodate large parties. The staff is always very helpful and friendly when I am here. The foods I always suggest people try here are the Chicken Saag, the Dosas, their garlic naan, and for an appetizer without a doubt the gobi monchuriyan!! The food is very consistent and they are more than willing to adjust dishes to suit your taste buds. P.S. Sometimes it can be chilly inside so it couldn't hurt to bring a light sweater.

When I was a young boy growing up in Southern California I had alot of great friends. One in particular was an Indian boy named Yogi. After school from time to time his mother would invite us in for a little afternoon meal. I had little exposure to Indian cuisine and being spoiled by Yogi's mothers expert cooking was a treat that I came to crave. She was a master at preparing her native dishes and to this day I have yet to experience anything on par with her culinary masterpieces. That being said Niki and I are always looking for great Indian Restaurants. Being in Florida makes dining out a bit of a challenge at times because when we are in NY the best restaurants are within walking distance. It takes some more effort here in the sunshine state but we have found some real gems in the rough. One such gem is Taste of India. Now surprised me when I walked through the door was that Indian people actually eat here. I have never been to a restaurant in the USA where I saw this so I was especially excited because I know just how particular they can be about their food. I had a feeling we were in for a serious treat. We were promptly seated and our glasses filled with cold water. The waiter asked what we would like to drink and Niki was happy with water since she is cutting down on soda. I ordered a mango lassi which is what i would usually order. The lassi arrived and it was delicious, the perfect balance of fruitiness and creaminess. After looking at the extensive menu we ordered nan bread, basmati rice, lamb rogan josh, and tandoori chicken. The waiter thanked us for our order and left us to enjoy our papadum. I short wait later he arrived with our dishes. They looked fantastic and as we began to fix our plates the smells became intoxicating and I couldn't wait for my first bite. I am a big fan of lamb so that is where I started. It was cooked just right with the right balance of spice, absolutely perfect and oh so tasty. The Tandoori chicken was just right and full of flavor, another hit out of the park. The Nan was so fresh and hot with just the right amount of crisp, a real winner. the rice was just as it should be and a perfect accompaniment with each dish. This meal was absolutely fantastic and the friendly attentive staff made it an even more enjoyable experience. So when you are craving Indian cuisine or it's your first time. there is no place in the area worth going to. Taste of India is the only place and lives up to it's name every time we have been since our first experience.

A Melbourne favorite. Located in a small plaza, the inside decor is 100 times better than plain exterior. Dim evening lighting, two spacious dining rooms, and even custom bathroom features make this restaurant very trendy on the inside. On some nights, they pump loud Indian music through the stereo. Sitting still while the music plays is not an option. Mandatory items include a round of Mango Lassi. (mango & yogurt drink) Even at $3.95, I drink two or three. The taste will blow you away. Also mandatory is Garlic Naan as an appetizer. Then, there's the dish that I can not separate myself from: Lamb Saag. Bursting with flavor and served with a hefty side of Basmati rice. I could eat the rice with sauce as a meal, and I am not being sarcastic. Taste of India is a small Florida chain, with four locations. There's a couple of shy servers on staff here. But, I've had the owner/manager as a server several times. This man is extremely polite and enjoyable to speak with. You can tell he is the manager, but doesn't put himself above visiting tables, bringing drinks, and clearing dishes. This place is a gem.

SO disappointed! I was really looking forward to some great Indian food when I dined here based on the reviews. Had vegetable biryani, channa masala and naan which are pretty basic items. They are VERY conservative with their portion sizes compared to other Indian restaurants I have been to around the country. They give one small piece of naan which was also surprising. So not order hot chai unless you want it as your dessert, ordered it at the same time as the dinner and it did not come until the check came. Was not crowded at all, and still had a long wait for the food. Like previous raters, I also recommend the 45 min drive to Orlando for good Indian food.

We LOVE Taste of India! We go there almost every weekend for the lunch buffet, which is so amazing with a lot of variety. We have also been many times for dinner service which is also great. Service is always wonderful.

This is our favorite restaurant in Melbourne. Everything we've tried is delicious. Their naan is the best I've ever had, anywhere

We got here at 1130 on a Sunday, but it didn't open until noon. Fine. Our fault. We drove around for a bit because we really wanted to give this place a try. Finally, noon rolls around. There are employees outside looking at some silly car rather than opening the restaurant. After waiting ANOTHER twenty minutes, we said screw it and left. Thought it was super annoying because we weren't even acknowledged. Rude.

Of course I couldn't say "no" to the lunch buffet, so that's what I had. The lamb was my favorite dish. The meat fell right off the bones, which is the way it should be. The other dishes were good, but the lamb definitely stood out amongst the rest. Very courteous service. My finished plate was immediately taken away. The lunch buffet was a tad over $10 and I felt I got my money's worth, although overall it's a bit expensive. I will definitely be going back for my all-you-can-eat curry fix.

Hadn't been here in a few years, because we hate it, but were craving Indian so we decided to get take out. WORST INDIAN FOOD EVER! To put it plainly, there's nothing traditional about their cooking. They take the dishes you know and love, change them up, and make them worse. Also, the butter chicken always has more filler (onions and peppers) then actual chicken. Plus the chicken often had bones and nasty ligaments. One order of naan is ONE piece of naan cut in half. The vegetable samosa isn't made with potatoes, but with crushed lentil instead. Seriously, we live in Melbourne, Florida... When we want Indian food, we just want traditional good Indian food! No need to mess with a good thing... But Taste of India does, and ruins it! Tandoor Kitchen just opened in Suntree and we'll be going there from now on.

Consistently good food and service. Reasonably priced too. If you're adventurous, try Indian! My family and I have been several times and we have never left disappointed. Vegetables are fresh and the wait staff is helpful. They've even added photos to the menu to help you visualize your dish.

Intl girls night took us back to Taste of India ... we try to pick a new restaurant and region every month but we just couldnt resist and came back! - I cant even describe the flavors and spices that are combined in the Indian dishes. The appetizers are to die for , i especially love the baby corns (A5) and the cauliflower.... you almost feel like you are eating healthy :) my favorite dinner choice is the butter chicken with the Garlic Naan ... i had enough to take home BUT had to order a full extra meal to share for lunch with my husband who was waiting for it like GOLD at the end of the rainbow! - would highly recommend!

Yay! I just moved here and I am soooo glad that I found an Indian restaurant that I like. The person I went with had Chicken Tikka and it was the best I've ever tried. My friend orders Chicken Tikka at every Indian restaurant and yet this particular time it blew us both away. I had an eggplant dish which I don't remember the name of, but that too was delicious.

I have loved Indian food for a very long time and have attended Indiafest in town, faithfully, always searching for the best "stuff." I have to say, that hands down, Taste of India is truly the best Indian food I have ever tasted. I often end up at THEIR booth during Indiafest. Their Gobi Munchurian (lightly breaded cauliflower in spicy sauce) appetizer is delicious, the nan is to die for good (try the garlic naan, yum!) and some pretty consistent main dishes are the Butter Chicken and the Chicken Korma. Their buffet is delicious (pricey but worth it) and offers plenty of opportunities to try new things. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

It is a shame this is the only Indian Restaurant in the Melbourne fl. area. The food is marginal at best and the service down rite sucks!

I found this restaurant on a weekend trip to the Space Coast two weeks ago. The food was very good, the waiter was very friendly (even shared some secrets of the Indian cuisine) and the atmosphere of the place was nice. What else can you expect? I will gladly recommend this restaurant to others and try their Tampa location soon.

Lunch buffet at $9.95 is a good way to try a very large variety of dishes at a reasonable price. The buffet is refreshed regularly and the food is fresh and flavorful. Contemporary Indian music gives the place an authentic vibe. I wonder if Slum Dog Millionaire has increased local interest in Indian food and culture. At lunch the restaurant was moderately busy but not packed. I saw both Indian customers and staff which I take as a good sign. For the number of diners at lunch a single restroom seems inadequate. It would be helpful if the restaurant could label which dishes on the buffet are spicy. These are minor issues... overall a very good dining experience.

Great food, very clean environment. The staff is very friendly and mindful of your needs. It's a good place to have a quiet meal in the evening for good conversation. The lunch buffet is great as well. I'd highly recommend it.

Only tried the lunch buffet so far, but it was excellent. I've eaten Indian food in Sunnyvale CA where everyone else in the place is from India - and this place is excellent. Plenty of vegetarian options on the buffet, including an excellent dai vada (fried lentil dumplings in yogurt), spicy avail (green coconut sauce), small uppathams (lentil pancake), delicious vegetable korma (yellow curry cream sauce), as well as excellent chicken tandoori.

I haven't been here in a few year, but my guess is (based on the reviews) this place is good as ever. And it is really good. The naan is great and there are three dishes I love (sorry, couldn't even begin to remember what they were called). The only down side I have with them was one of their waiters was always trying to hit on my date. Not good for business. But he didn't have much game, so I was never too concerned. BEST DISH: something with nuts and maybe chicken or lamb (just have a fleeting memory of it on the back of my tounge....ahhhh)

This is simply the BEST indian food I've ever had. My wife and I were vacationing near Melbourne, and decided to go for Indian. We live in the DC area, and have loved Indian food for a long time. I've had indian food in DC, NY, LA and several other cities - always looking for 'authentic' (ie. spicy/flavorful - not watered down americanized). This place was so good, we came back two nights in a row. The preparation of the food was amazing, and the service was great. But, it's all about the food. IT WAS THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD. I told the manager that, he chuckled and said he's actually heard that before from people who live all over the place. I only wish I could go back more, obviously I HIGHLY recommend Taste of India.

If you're looking for the privilege of truly bad bad BAD service for a hundred dollar family dinner, this is the place for you!!! The cauliflower appetizer may be quite tasty, but that is absolutely not enough reason to ever eat there again.

I love this place. I love Indian food and usually travel to Oralndo for good Indian food, this place is the best in Melbourne and the area. The Vindaloo is the best, the curry is awesome and the naan...keep it coming! The wait staff is always pleasant.
