My family's go to spot for Mediterranean. Food is good and the service is exceptional. Small restaurant with its own quirks. Food can be a little salty depending on the day (yea, we come here often :/). My go to dish is the gyro plate, but there's a lot of options to choose from. Sage tea is addicting.. Get it!!

It is an unassuming little place in one of those older strip malls that you would normally otherwise pass by unless you happen to be in their parking lot when you are looking for food. But hey, ethnic food in Melbourne.... There isn't too much, right? So Alexandria is more or less a pan-middle-eastern cuisine place that features most of the highlights one would expect. Shawarma, Kofka, Babaganoush, hummus, dolmades... pretty much highlights of the traditional middle-eastern selections. The food is good. I'll not say it is one of the best I have had, but it is good enough to say I will go back, especially given the limited choices in the area. Best put, I would say I doubt I will ever dream of going back, but when I am in the mood, and this is the closest place, I have no problem going back. The service, on the other hand, left a little bit to be desired, but it may have just been the night we were there. There was one person waiting the tables, and it was a Tuesday night. I have a feeling they were busier than normal. The waiter was very friendly, but there was quite a bit of waiting on things like getting water refilled, etc. Not a big deal by any means, assuming it was an unusually busy Tuesday. Portions here are kind of a mixed bag of expectations. For example, order some hummus and pita, and you get a great deal of hummus, but basically one pita cut into small pieces. Getting extra pita was not a problem, but we kept needing to ask. We noticed the same with other things we ordered. There was just a lack of balance in portions. Again, not a big deal, but it was noticed. So to sum it up, nothing was bad. The food was all very good, there were just several little things that could have been done to create some wow factor. I know this isn;t a very inspiring review, but despite the negatives, if you are in the mood for middle-eastern cuisine, I would never say not to go here.

Oh so good. I've been wanting to try this place for a while now and when there was a coupon in the Savings Safari I figured it was time. What a cute little restaurant tucked away in a strip mall. It was very quiet on Thursday which was nice and gave us a chance to learn a bit about the influence for the menu. Usually when you think Mediterranean you thing more Greek but the owner/ chef is an italian trained Egyptian and the food leans in those directions. We started with the grape leaves which were, as another reviewer said. The best I've ever had. Hubby had the Eggplant something that was very flavorful and I ordered the gyro platter. They are not shy with portions or flavor. Everything was very delish. I had to get a box so I'd have room for the turamisu and it did not disappoint. It maybe came out of a box but it was a good box. Prices very reasonable, restaurant simple and clean. I like clean restaurants! And I like simple, food should speak the volume. Reccomend highly. There is something for everyone unless you are looking for a cheese burger.

After visiting family in Melbourne several times & not being very impressed with the restaurants, we finally found one which we all agreed is excellent. Good, friendly service and fresh, well-prepared food. The restaurant is very clean & nicely decorated, too. We ordered Spanakopita, a Greek salad, the lamb gyro, and the gyro platter. The children ordered pasta & pizza. Everything was absolutely delicious. We're anxious to go back to try other menu items.

I went with a coworker while on a business trip. My coworker looked at Yelp and Trip Advisor and suggested it based on the reviews he found. I have never had Mediterranean food. The Shawarma chicken was very good. The service was quick and friendly. I feel sure you won't be disappointed if you give this place a try.

Finally found a delicious Eastern Mediterranean restaurant that does take-out right! My fiancée and I split the vegetarian platter which was almost a meal on its own. For an entree I had the chicken shawarma over rice with a butternut squash soup on the side. Wow. Flavor was on point AND portions were gigantic. We have plenty of leftovers which will not go to waste. We'll be back soon!,

I had the chicken shawarma on a bed of basmati rice. Everything was absolutely amazing. Great service and friendly staff. You should definitely give this place a try.

Looking for something different, I recently stopped in to try this eatery with a guest. I ordered the Parmigiana. I've heard a few good things about Alexandria's. However, this day, something was amiss. My chicken was very tough. Also there was a party that was talking very loud on a cell phone. Management didn't want to quiet the individual down. This made a tough chicken tougher. Will I return? No......Do I recommend the eatery? No

Went during lunch time for a quick bite to eat. I ordered the Shawarma Chicken to go which was supposed to be marinated chicken sauteed with tomatoes and onions served on a bed of basmati rice. It was just chicken on rice :( Now I have to admit that the chicken was well seasoned and the rice was delicious as well but I felt like for almost $10 it left some room to be desired. It was a decent size though. I'd probably go back as I always give a place a second chance if the first impression was ok.

Delicious Mediterranean food. The place is small with tasteful decor and kind service. The food is consistently great, the place is clean, and they offer a variety of choices from baba ghanoush, spanakopita, and falafel to gyros (lamb), shish tawook, shawarmas, and abramo dishes. Yummmm!!

I brought the whole family here and we enjoyed the experience. Dad was cooking and the two sons were serving. The food was delicious and authentic. The family that runs it is from Egypt.

Excellent atmosphere. Great baba ganoush and spanakopita... veggie platter is a great choice. one diner thought shish tawook was a bit bland but she LOVES spice. Excellent chicken shawarma and falafel. Great baklava and kinafa desserts. Attentive service. Wonderful find in a strip mall!

We tried Alexandria after hearing about it in the local paper. It's snug in the Melbourne YMCA plaza, and if you're not looking for it, you could easily miss it. The inside of the restaurant is clean, minimal Mediterranean decor with 10 or so tables covered in butcher paper available. We went for lunch, but it was pretty quiet around 2pm. The service was prompt and friendly. I ordered the Shish Tawook wrap and my husband had the Shwarma chicken wrap. We had Kibbeh for an appetizer. The Kibbeh was delicious, but partially frozen on the inside. I was pretty disappointed, but I figured they probably made them in advance and froze them for later, so they could provide faster service. The wraps were good, I preferred my wrap, it was far more flavorful than the chicken shwarma. We didn't try dessert, but they do offer several different things, including my favorite: baklava. All in all not a bad place, the food was pretty decent and the service was great, will have to try again in a few months (the place is pretty new and still getting the bugs (so to speak) ironed out.) Would definitely go back. Menu is here: alexandriagrill.com/var/…

We dined at Alexandria on a weekday evening shortly before 6:00 p.m. when they were rather quiet. The menu at Alexandria has Greek, middle eastern, and even a few Italian dishes. We started with hummus and pita appetizer, $5.95. I usually do not order hummus in restaurants as I am a huge fan of Sabra brand hummus available at public (its 10 time better than Athenos brand) that restaurant hummus often does not measure up. The wife ordered hummus at Alexandria and it was a good call. Their hummas is lighter than most restaurants, and it was clearly made to order with a drizzle of olive oil on top. For $5.95 I thought the portion was a little on the small side, but it was adequate for two. The pita was a little lacking as it was not warmed, and was on par with supermarket pita. As compared to Skerwers, Alexandria has better Hummus but the Greek Pita at Skewers is much better pita (and is served warm) and Skerwers, I believe, serves a bigger portion. Most of the dinner entrees are in the 12.95 to 15.95 range the menu tops out around 19.95 for a few lamb and fish dishes. I had a not on the menu Chicken Artichoke special ($17.95), the dish had a wine sauce, mushrooms, grilled chicken, and a side of spaghetti. It is usually served with capers which I asked them to omit, and came with an included soup or salad. I went with the house salad, which was mostly field greens, with a house vinaigrette. It was only when my wife ordered that I learned that the included with entrée house salad can by upgraded to a Fatoush Salad for a $2.00 upcharge. While the house salad is good Alexandria's Fatough Salad is outstanding and bigger which makes this upgrade a no- brainer. I was pleased with the Chicken Artichoke speacial. The chicken was grilled with real char marks on the breast. If I did not know better, I would think it was cooked on an outdoor grill over charcoal. It had good char flavor, and was neither dry nor rubbery two common pitfalls when lesser cooks cook boneless skinless chicken breasts. The sauce had lemon juice and white whine and artichoke flavors. The artichokes appeared canned not fresh but it was still an enjoyable dish. The accompaniment to the dish was spaghetti in the same sauce as the chicken. My spouse has an eggplant dish with meat and a marinara sauce. This dish seemed more Italian than Greek or Arabic. Her dish came with Spaghetti in marinara. This dish was good but not great. Alexandria serves brewed ice tea and Coke products. My ice tea was bitter. I do not know if this was caused by a tea bag if the same brewing device was used to make both tea and coffee. Hopefully the bitter tea is a one night issue. We did not try desert. Our server, who had recently started with Alexandria, was professional, prompt, and great with kids. We will definitely return to Alexandria.

Went for dinner on a Saturday evening...my wife and I enjoyed the entire experience. The food was great, especially the sauces!! They have a garlic sauce with the shish tawook was awesome as was the creamy feta with the spanikopita. The service was very friendly and quick. It's also very reasonably priced. Very enjoyable, we will be back
