We were in the area at Off the Wall trampolines and looked for nearby restaurants and the Yelp reviews were great so we decided to try it out. The subs at this shop surpass any we've had in the Miami, Coconut Creek, Fort Lauderdale areas. My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich and it was amazing just as you'll read in so many of the reviews. The meatball sub was also great but my absolute favorite was the steak sub. OMG! I'll be craving that for the next few months without a doubt. The 2 guys running the place were very nice as well and the place was very clean. Huge plus for me! My only regret is that they are so far from where I live but I know this is where I'll eat any time I'm in the neighborhood again. It is a must try!!!

I have passed by this place so many times I'm sorry that it has taken me this long to stop in. Yelpers have made it clear that this place is a hidden gem. I can not agree more. It's in a small strip mall on Atlantic Blvd. just south of Lyons on the south side of the road. The subs are made to order, no pre-cooked meat here like some places. I was having idle conversation with the patrons that were there, they had great things to say. I had already placed my order but the regulars said the Cuban was awesome. Check the pic. The owner really takes pride in his business. He is a humble guy and really appreciates every customer. He evens knows his regulars favorite subs. No commercial atmosphere here. Wow! I never knew this place existed until I looked at everyones Yelp reviews and decided if you all were giving it 5 stars I better come here and eat. Bill the owner took the time to explain everything on the menu to us. We decided upon the Cuban sandwich that everyone brags about and the meatball sandwich which is also one of their top sellers. The place is a really cool spot it's clean and bright and smells really good I love the little beach theme they have. I also got birch beer one of my favorites. My meatball sub was awesome. The sauce is homemade and as an Italian I say it IS REALLY good. Russells cuban is really unique the shaved pork makes it so tender and the whipped mayo really adds a special kick to it. I have never had a Cuban sandwich that tastes so delicious. Our subs were packed with meat. I love this place...expect an update frequently because it's my night off cooking new place!!! Phenomenal! Was looking for a great Cuban sandwich on my vacation visiting my parents down here in Pompano Beach. Yelp gave me 2 places to try. One had 4.5 stars on 55 reviews, the other had 5 on 12 reviews. Figured its a crap shoot at that point. 1 has more reviews the other had half star more. So i read more into the reviews. Talk about a passionate owner and "best cuban" swayed us here. I'll tell you, I'd drive at least 30-45 mins for this Cuban if I had to do it all over again. Place is small in strip mall type area. Could easily miss it if you're not looking for it. Walked in owner asked if it was first time and it was so he gave us an excellent detailed run down of the menu. I was already set on the Cuban so I was sold. What an awesome, energetic, genuinely kind guy he was. He asked if we found it on Yelp and I told him yes. He loves yelp because obviously it helps small businesses over the corporate chains. I have to say I'm a small business fan myself as well, especially when you get quality food like this over the commercially made, processed, cheaper foods that the chain serve. Owner was fantastic. The sandwiches were unreal! Got a Cuban 8 inch on wheat with mayo and spicy brown mustard. Pork and ham sliced thin. Swiss was oozing out. Was sweet, smoky, and filling. Brother was a little more courageous and got the 12 inch...he almost had to be rolled out, haha. I will definitely be asking for extra pickles on my sandwich next time. They were great as well and added a nice sweet/sour bite to the sandwich. Mom and gf got the Italian sandwiches, one hot one cold and they loved them. Both took a half home. Place is very clean (one of my first observations anywhere), staff was very friendly, lots of regulars (seemed as if everyone knew the owner and he knew them), again great food, free soda with a Yelp check in haha. Overall a great lunch. Wish I was going to be in Florida longer. My brother is already talking about going back tomorrow. ..and my step-father who didn't get to go with us was a little upset, so I'm sure he and my mom will be frequenting this place once he gets to try it. First time in the neighborhood and I chose Shavedway for lunch because of its location near my afternoon golf at Palm-Aire and the raves of others here on Yelp. It was a very tough choice between their signature items, but I went with the Cuban sandwich and have no regrets. My sandwich was freshly made, thick, pressed properly and customized to my specifications (add lettuce, tomato and hold the mayo). While I waited for my sandwich, the owner spoke highly to me and a couple other customers about how much he appreciates Yelp. This was after I checked in and claimed my free fountain beverage, which turned into an always welcome Birch Beer over ice. This owner is clearly someone who takes a lot of pride in his business, his product and everyone who walks in that door. I really appreciated his candor and passion and it made me feel even better that I chose his store over other lunch spots in the area. When I told him I needed my sandwich to-go since I was going to enjoy it out on the golf course, he looked at me and said, "Take me with you" and I felt like I was in the Dish TV ad when The Boz said the same thing about going back to college. Just one half of that tasty sandwich lasted me the entire golf afternoon and I had the second half of it back at the hotel after the FSU-Miami game. That should tell you how much you get for your money when you order a sandwich at Shavedway.

The stars are for a combination of food and service. I was impressed that some of their cheese's are shredded. I was told to try their Cuban because it was a must have. We're here for a week on vacation and like to try new places. When we walked in the owner was there and walked us thru the menu personally. He was awesome! I grew up on the east coast and have had many hoagies. I ordered the Italian cold so that I could compare it to the others I've had. It more than exceeded my expectations! It was awesome and reminded me of summers on the beach. The fact that they had sweet peppers was a huge plus in my book as you need those for a good Italian sub. My husband ordered the pressed meatball sub and thought it was delicious. He said the fact that it was buttered and pressed took it over the top. We will definitely be going back. My husband & I stopped at this deli on the way back from the Keys after reading the reviews on Yelp. I had a Cuban sandwich and it was one of, if not the best Cubans I've ever had. Husband had a roast beef and Swiss, which he lied as well. The sandwiches are piled high with shaved meat on great bread. The service was fast and friendly, and the owner clearly takes pride in his restaurant. We would drive 50 miles past a dozen Subways to get to this place!!!

Best Cuban Sandwich in the Northwest. So I hear this joint has the best Cuban Sandwich around, so I pop in. Small joint nothing much to it with two guys working. I tell them that I heard they make the best Cuban sandwich etc... And they say, that's what they say all over the internet. I place my order and get my sandwich with no mayo and extra cheese. I paid for the sandwich said thank you to the guys and split. Just so you know this sandwich was not cheap. Maybe 11 bucks and change. I got home and open the box and this thing looked great see pic. By far the best Cuban I've had since Crocante Bakery but this was way bigger. The construction of the sandwich was perfect and there was plenty of meat. Since I got extra cheese some of it oozed out and was fried on the griddle which in my opinion added to the flavor. Very good job! I didn't go overboard with my review because it was my first time there and I only got a hot sub. Clearly the Cuban is 5 stars so I highly recommend it. Grading is based on a sub-shop curve. This and Laspadas earn five stars as sub shops. The meat is fresh and shaved to order. The bread is soft enough and toppings are crisp and plentiful. Truly a Margate gem with the best subs in town. I've tried their Italian and Cuban and they are they best around. The Italian is loaded with meat on fresh bread, and the Cuban rivals those of Miami, the sandwich is pressed to perfection. In my never ending quest to try every sub shop around, I finally made my way to shavedway. It's a very small place, like original Laspadas small, but the young man behind the counter couldn't have been nicer to me, and the shop was very clean as well. I had my go to Italian I order everywhere, and it was really very good shavedway style. The bread wasn't my favorite, definitely better at Laspadas, but the toppings were super fresh. I particularly like how they prep their tomatoes, there are no seeds or liquid and the cut them into uniform bite size pieces. Really nice touch. They also get a thumbs up for having black olives. I prefer sliced cheese over the shredded they put on my sub, but the portion was large and you could really taste the provolone on the sandwich. Overall I'd give them a 4.5, my third favorite shop behind subs, subs, subs and Laspadas.

Stopped here based onYelp reviews. BF wanted a philly cheesesteak ... they didnt have mushrooms, but he got it anyway. It was good. I got a wrap. I originally wanted the spinach wrap with turkey breast but they didnt have it either so I settled for the tomato wrap. It was good. The turkey breast was very tender. I wish they offered chicken breast though. And if they had more toppings for the wraps / sandwiches that'd also be good. The owner is a nice guy. If I am in the area again I would go back.

A great find. Tons of thin shaved meat and toppings crammed into soft bread and really tightly wrapped like a bullet to compress each bite with some of everything, everytime. The tuna and chicken salads are homemade and the cuban sandwiches are super too. This is exactly the type of place people should be supporting in today's economy. This place is easy to miss if you're not looking, in a very small strip of stores off Atlantic, but a really great find. I am normally a turkey sub person no matter what; however, I came here as I was moving into my new house in the area, taking a break from painting and I was too exhausted to even decided if I wanted mustard or mayo...but they had a cuban sandwich on the menu, all toppings decided for me. Now I'm not sure I've ever really had a cuban sandwich, so I can make no statements as to its authenticity or anything of that nature, but I know that it tasted amazing. The bread was perfectly toasted and everything inside was hot and amazing...now I'm not sure I could ever go back to a normal turkey sub at this place. Prices were reasonable especially considering the size of the sandwich, and the owner was very friendly. They also had some unique sodas at the fountain (sarsaparilla). We always get Shavedway Subs for catering events at work. I've had the cuban as well as many of the other subs since we always have them cater. The meat is fresh and so are the vegetables. It's in a small strip mall on Atlantic Blvd. just south of Lyons on the south side of the road. The subs are made to order, no pre-cooked meat here like some places. I was having idle conversation with the patrons that were there, they had great things to say. I had already placed my order but the regulars said the Cuban was awesome. Check the pic. The owner really takes pride in his business. He is a humble guy and really appreciates every customer. He evens knows his regulars favorite subs. No commercial atmosphere here. Wow! I never knew this place existed until I looked at everyones Yelp reviews and decided if you all were giving it 5 stars I better come here and eat. Bill the owner took the time to explain everything on the menu to us. We decided upon the Cuban sandwich that everyone brags about and the meatball sandwich which is also one of their top sellers. The place is a really cool spot it's clean and bright and smells really good I love the little beach theme they have. I also got birch beer one of my favorites. My meatball sub was awesome. The sauce is homemade and as an Italian I say it IS REALLY good. Russells cuban is really unique the shaved pork makes it so tender and the whipped mayo really adds a special kick to it. I have never had a Cuban sandwich that tastes so delicious. Our subs were packed with meat. I love this place...expect an update frequently because it's my night off cooking new place!!! First time in the neighborhood and I chose Shavedway for lunch because of its location near my afternoon golf at Palm-Aire and the raves of others here on Yelp. It was a very tough choice between their signature items, but I went with the Cuban sandwich and have no regrets. My sandwich was freshly made, thick, pressed properly and customized to my specifications (add lettuce, tomato and hold the mayo). While I waited for my sandwich, the owner spoke highly to me and a couple other customers about how much he appreciates Yelp. This was after I checked in and claimed my free fountain beverage, which turned into an always welcome Birch Beer over ice. This owner is clearly someone who takes a lot of pride in his business, his product and everyone who walks in that door. I really appreciated his candor and passion and it made me feel even better that I chose his store over other lunch spots in the area. When I told him I needed my sandwich to-go since I was going to enjoy it out on the golf course, he looked at me and said, "Take me with you" and I felt like I was in the Dish TV ad when The Boz said the same thing about going back to college. Just one half of that tasty sandwich lasted me the entire golf afternoon and I had the second half of it back at the hotel after the FSU-Miami game. That should tell you how much you get for your money when you order a sandwich at Shavedway.

We're here for a week on vacation and like to try new places. When we walked in the owner was there and walked us thru the menu personally. He was awesome! I grew up on the east coast and have had many hoagies. I ordered the Italian cold so that I could compare it to the others I've had. It more than exceeded my expectations! It was awesome and reminded me of summers on the beach. The fact that they had sweet peppers was a huge plus in my book as you need those for a good Italian sub. My husband & I stopped at this deli on the way back from the Keys after reading the reviews on Yelp. I had a Cuban sandwich and it was one of, if not the best Cubans I've ever had. Husband had a roast beef and Swiss, which he lied as well. The sandwiches are piled high with shaved meat on great bread. The service was fast and friendly, and the owner clearly takes pride in his restaurant. We would drive 50 miles past a dozen Subways to get to this place!!!

Best Cuban Sandwich in the Northwest. So I hear this joint has the best Cuban Sandwich around, so I pop in. Small joint nothing much to it with two guys working. I tell them that I heard they make the best Cuban sandwich etc... And they say, that's what they say all over the internet. I place my order and get my sandwich with no mayo and extra cheese. I paid for the sandwich said thank you to the guys and split. Just so you know this sandwich was not cheap. Maybe 11 bucks and change. I got home and open the box and this thing looked great see pic. By far the best Cuban I've had since Crocante Bakery but this was way bigger. The construction of the sandwich was perfect and there was plenty of meat. Since I got extra cheese some of it oozed out and was fried on the griddle which in my opinion added to the flavor. Very good job! I didn't go overboard with my review because it was my first time there and I only got a hot sub. Clearly the Cuban is 5 stars so I highly recommend it. Grading is based on a sub-shop curve. This and Laspadas earn five stars as sub shops. The meat is fresh and shaved to order. The bread is soft enough and toppings are crisp and plentiful. In my never ending quest to try every sub shop around, I finally made my way to shavedway. It's a very small place, like original Laspadas small, but the young man behind the counter couldn't have been nicer to me, and the shop was very clean as well. I had my go to Italian I order everywhere, and it was really very good shavedway style. The bread wasn't my favorite, definitely better at Laspadas, but the toppings were super fresh. I particularly like how they prep their tomatoes, there are no seeds or liquid and the cut them into uniform bite size pieces. Really nice touch. They also get a thumbs up for having black olives. I prefer sliced cheese over the shredded they put on my sub, but the portion was large and you could really taste the provolone on the sandwich. Overall I'd give them a 4.5, my third favorite shop behind subs, subs, subs and Laspadas.

Stopped here based onYelp reviews. BF wanted a philly cheesesteak ... they didnt have mushrooms, but he got it anyway. It was good. I got a wrap. I originally wanted the spinach wrap with turkey breast but they didnt have it either so I settled for the tomato wrap. It was good. The turkey breast was very tender. I wish they offered chicken breast though. And if they had more toppings for the wraps / sandwiches that'd also be good. The owner is a nice guy. If I am in the area again I would go back.

This place is easy to miss if you're not looking, in a very small strip of stores off Atlantic, but a really great find. I am normally a turkey sub person no matter what; however, I came here as I was moving into my new house in the area, taking a break from painting and I was too exhausted to even decided if I wanted mustard or mayo...but they had a cuban sandwich on the menu, all toppings decided for me. Now I'm not sure I've ever really had a cuban sandwich, so I can make no statements as to its authenticity or anything of that nature, but I know that it tasted amazing. The bread was perfectly toasted and everything inside was hot and amazing...now I'm not sure I could ever go back to a normal turkey sub at this place. Prices were reasonable especially considering the size of the sandwich, and the owner was very friendly. They also had some unique sodas at the fountain (sarsaparilla). I'm glad I discovered this place so soon after moving in nearby.

My husband and I love sub sandwiches and have been to loads of sub shops. We were in the area at Off the Wall trampolines and looked for nearby restaurants and the Yelp reviews were great so we decided to try it out. The subs at this shop surpass any we've had in the Miami, Coconut Creek, Fort Lauderdale areas. My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich and it was amazing just as you'll read in so many of the reviews. The meatball sub was also great but my absolute favorite was the steak sub. OMG! I'll be craving that for the next few months without a doubt. Phenomenal! Was looking for a great Cuban sandwich on my vacation visiting my parents down here in Pompano Beach. Yelp gave me 2 places to try. One had 4.5 stars on 55 reviews, the other had 5 on 12 reviews. Figured its a crap shoot at that point. 1 has more reviews the other had half star more. So i read more into the reviews. Talk about a passionate owner and "best cuban" swayed us here. I'll tell you, I'd drive at least 30-45 mins for this Cuban if I had to do it all over again. Place is small in strip mall type area. Could easily miss it if you're not looking for it. Walked in owner asked if it was first time and it was so he gave us an excellent detailed run down of the menu. I was already set on the Cuban so I was sold. What an awesome, energetic, genuinely kind guy he was. He asked if we found it on Yelp and I told him yes. He loves yelp because obviously it helps small businesses over the corporate chains. I have to say I'm a small business fan myself as well, especially when you get quality food like this over the commercially made, processed, cheaper foods that the chain serve. Owner was fantastic. The sandwiches were unreal! Got a Cuban 8 inch on wheat with mayo and spicy brown mustard. Pork and ham sliced thin. Swiss was oozing out. Was sweet, smoky, and filling. Brother was a little more courageous and got the 12 inch...he almost had to be rolled out, haha. I will definitely be asking for extra pickles on my sandwich next time. First time in the neighborhood and I chose Shavedway for lunch because of its location near my afternoon golf at Palm-Aire and the raves of others here on Yelp. It was a very tough choice between their signature items, but I went with the Cuban sandwich and have no regrets. My sandwich was freshly made, thick, pressed properly and customized to my specifications (add lettuce, tomato and hold the mayo). While I waited for my sandwich, the owner spoke highly to me and a couple other customers about how much he appreciates Yelp. This was after I checked in and claimed my free fountain beverage, which turned into an always welcome Birch Beer over ice. This owner is clearly someone who takes a lot of pride in his business, his product and everyone who walks in that door. I really appreciated his candor and passion and it made me feel even better that I chose his store over other lunch spots in the area. When I told him I needed my sandwich to-go since I was going to enjoy it out on the golf course, he looked at me and said, "Take me with you" and I felt like I was in the Dish TV ad when The Boz said the same thing about going back to college. Just one half of that tasty sandwich lasted me the entire golf afternoon and I had the second half of it back at the hotel after the FSU-Miami game. That should tell you how much you get for your money when you order a sandwich at Shavedway.

One can tell this guy genuinely loves what he does from the energy he brings. I always come in with a huge smile on my face, knowing that I will NOT be disappointed. We're here for a week on vacation and like to try new places. When we walked in the owner was there and walked us thru the menu personally. He was awesome! I grew up on the east coast and have had many hoagies. I ordered the Italian cold so that I could compare it to the others I've had. It more than exceeded my expectations! It was awesome and reminded me of summers on the beach. The fact that they had sweet peppers was a huge plus in my book as you need those for a good Italian sub. My husband & I stopped at this deli on the way back from the Keys after reading the reviews on Yelp. I had a Cuban sandwich and it was one of, if not the best Cubans I've ever had. Husband had a roast beef and Swiss, which he lied as well. The sandwiches are piled high with shaved meat on great bread. The service was fast and friendly, and the owner clearly takes pride in his restaurant. We would drive 50 miles past a dozen Subways to get to this place!!!

Best Cuban Sandwich in the Northwest. So I hear this joint has the best Cuban Sandwich around, so I pop in. Small joint nothing much to it with two guys working. I tell them that I heard they make the best Cuban sandwich etc... And they say, that's what they say all over the internet. I place my order and get my sandwich with no mayo and extra cheese. I paid for the sandwich said thank you to the guys and split. Just so you know this sandwich was not cheap. Maybe 11 bucks and change. I got home and open the box and this thing looked great see pic. By far the best Cuban I've had since Crocante Bakery but this was way bigger. The construction of the sandwich was perfect and there was plenty of meat. Since I got extra cheese some of it oozed out and was fried on the griddle which in my opinion added to the flavor. Very good job! I didn't go overboard with my review because it was my first time there and I only got a hot sub. Clearly the Cuban is 5 stars so I highly recommend it. This is officially my first review on Yelp. This place definitely requires me to go out of my way to recommend it. Amazing subs and service. I've never met anyone so passionate about what they do and how they do it. Bill treats his customers like family. Grading is based on a sub-shop curve. This and Laspadas earn five stars as sub shops. The meat is fresh and shaved to order. The bread is soft enough and toppings are crisp and plentiful. Truly a Margate gem with the best subs in town. I've tried their Italian and Cuban and they are they best around. The Italian is loaded with meat on fresh bread, and the Cuban rivals those of Miami, the sandwich is pressed to perfection. In my never ending quest to try every sub shop around, I finally made my way to shavedway. It's a very small place, like original Laspadas small, but the young man behind the counter couldn't have been nicer to me, and the shop was very clean as well. I had my go to Italian I order everywhere, and it was really very good shavedway style. The bread wasn't my favorite, definitely better at Laspadas, but the toppings were super fresh. I particularly like how they prep their tomatoes, there are no seeds or liquid and the cut them into uniform bite size pieces. Really nice touch. They also get a thumbs up for having black olives. I prefer sliced cheese over the shredded they put on my sub, but the portion was large and you could really taste the provolone on the sandwich. Overall I'd give them a 4.5, my third favorite shop behind subs, subs, subs and Laspadas.

Amazing Cuban sandwich. It's so good and filling that I can't eat for hours and hours afterwards. The only downside is the hours they are open. I can only go in on Saturdays for lunch because I work too far away and they aren't open dinner hours or Sundays. But that won't keeps away!!

Stopped here based onYelp reviews. BF wanted a philly cheesesteak ... they didnt have mushrooms, but he got it anyway. It was good. I got a wrap. I originally wanted the spinach wrap with turkey breast but they didnt have it either so I settled for the tomato wrap. It was good. The turkey breast was very tender. I wish they offered chicken breast though. And if they had more toppings for the wraps / sandwiches that'd also be good. The owner is a nice guy. If I am in the area again I would go back.

A great find. Tons of thin shaved meat and toppings crammed into soft bread and really tightly wrapped like a bullet to compress each bite with some of everything, everytime. The tuna and chicken salads are homemade and the cuban sandwiches are super too. This is exactly the type of place people should be supporting in today's economy. This place is easy to miss if you're not looking, in a very small strip of stores off Atlantic, but a really great find. I am normally a turkey sub person no matter what; however, I came here as I was moving into my new house in the area, taking a break from painting and I was too exhausted to even decided if I wanted mustard or mayo...but they had a cuban sandwich on the menu, all toppings decided for me. Now I'm not sure I've ever really had a cuban sandwich, so I can make no statements as to its authenticity or anything of that nature, but I know that it tasted amazing. The bread was perfectly toasted and everything inside was hot and amazing...now I'm not sure I could ever go back to a normal turkey sub at this place. Prices were reasonable especially considering the size of the sandwich, and the owner was very friendly. They also had some unique sodas at the fountain (sarsaparilla). We were in the area at Off the Wall trampolines and looked for nearby restaurants and the Yelp reviews were great so we decided to try it out. The subs at this shop surpass any we've had in the Miami, Coconut Creek, Fort Lauderdale areas. My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich and it was amazing just as you'll read in so many of the reviews. The meatball sub was also great but my absolute favorite was the steak sub. OMG! I'll be craving that for the next few months without a doubt. The 2 guys running the place were very nice as well and the place was very clean. Huge plus for me! My only regret is that they are so far from where I live but I know this is where I'll eat any time I'm in the neighborhood again. It is a must try!!!

Phenomenal! Was looking for a great Cuban sandwich on my vacation visiting my parents down here in Pompano Beach. Yelp gave me 2 places to try. One had 4.5 stars on 55 reviews, the other had 5 on 12 reviews. Figured its a crap shoot at that point. 1 has more reviews the other had half star more. So i read more into the reviews. Talk about a passionate owner and "best cuban" swayed us here. I'll tell you, I'd drive at least 30-45 mins for this Cuban if I had to do it all over again. Place is small in strip mall type area. Could easily miss it if you're not looking for it. Walked in owner asked if it was first time and it was so he gave us an excellent detailed run down of the menu. I was already set on the Cuban so I was sold. What an awesome, energetic, genuinely kind guy he was. He asked if we found it on Yelp and I told him yes. He loves yelp because obviously it helps small businesses over the corporate chains. I have to say I'm a small business fan myself as well, especially when you get quality food like this over the commercially made, processed, cheaper foods that the chain serve. Owner was fantastic. The sandwiches were unreal! Got a Cuban 8 inch on wheat with mayo and spicy brown mustard. Pork and ham sliced thin. Swiss was oozing out. Was sweet, smoky, and filling. Brother was a little more courageous and got the 12 inch...he almost had to be rolled out, haha. I will definitely be asking for extra pickles on my sandwich next time. They were great as well and added a nice sweet/sour bite to the sandwich. Mom and gf got the Italian sandwiches, one hot one cold and they loved them. Both took a half home. Place is very clean (one of my first observations anywhere), staff was very friendly, lots of regulars (seemed as if everyone knew the owner and he knew them), again great food, free soda with a Yelp check in haha. Overall a great lunch. Wish I was going to be in Florida longer. My brother is already talking about going back tomorrow. ..and my step-father who didn't get to go with us was a little upset, so I'm sure he and my mom will be frequenting this place once he gets to try it. It's in a small strip mall on Atlantic Blvd. just south of Lyons on the south side of the road. The subs are made to order, no pre-cooked meat here like some places. I was having idle conversation with the patrons that were there, they had great things to say. I had already placed my order but the regulars said the Cuban was awesome. Check the pic. The owner really takes pride in his business. He is a humble guy and really appreciates every customer. He evens knows his regulars favorite subs. No commercial atmosphere here. Wow! I never knew this place existed until I looked at everyones Yelp reviews and decided if you all were giving it 5 stars I better come here and eat. Bill the owner took the time to explain everything on the menu to us. We decided upon the Cuban sandwich that everyone brags about and the meatball sandwich which is also one of their top sellers. The place is a really cool spot it's clean and bright and smells really good I love the little beach theme they have. I also got birch beer one of my favorites. My meatball sub was awesome. The sauce is homemade and as an Italian I say it IS REALLY good. Russells cuban is really unique the shaved pork makes it so tender and the whipped mayo really adds a special kick to it. I have never had a Cuban sandwich that tastes so delicious. Our subs were packed with meat. I love this place...expect an update frequently because it's my night off cooking new place!!! My sandwich was freshly made, thick, pressed properly and customized to my specifications (add lettuce, tomato and hold the mayo). While I waited for my sandwich, the owner spoke highly to me and a couple other customers about how much he appreciates Yelp. This was after I checked in and claimed my free fountain beverage, which turned into an always welcome Birch Beer over ice. This owner is clearly someone who takes a lot of pride in his business, his product and everyone who walks in that door. I really appreciated his candor and passion and it made me feel even better that I chose his store over other lunch spots in the area. When I told him I needed my sandwich to-go since I was going to enjoy it out on the golf course, he looked at me and said, "Take me with you" and I felt like I was in the Dish TV ad when The Boz said the same thing about going back to college. Just one half of that tasty sandwich lasted me the entire golf afternoon and I had the second half of it back at the hotel after the FSU-Miami game. That should tell you how much you get for your money when you order a sandwich at Shavedway.

First I was torn between the pressed Cuban and the pressed meatball sub which I will be trying next, but everyone in the shop said to try the Cuban since it was my first time there, I'm glad I listened! The stars are for a combination of food and service. I was impressed that some of their cheese's are shredded. I was told to try their Cuban because it was a must have. I make Cuban sandwiches myself and I was totally impressed. I didn't leave stuffed, which was a good thing because I had to go back to work, hahaha. I had a great experience because it felt like being at home. I was greeted when I walked in and they thanked me for coming in when I left. Thank you for the food and experience. Stop in, you won't regret it!! My husband found this place while doing an online search and we chose it based on yelp reviews and boy were those reviews spot on! We're here for a week on vacation and like to try new places. When we walked in the owner was there and walked us thru the menu personally. He was awesome! I grew up on the east coast and have had many hoagies. I ordered the Italian cold so that I could compare it to the others I've had. It more than exceeded my expectations! It was awesome and reminded me of summers on the beach. The fact that they had sweet peppers was a huge plus in my book as you need those for a good Italian sub. My husband ordered the pressed meatball sub and thought it was delicious. He said the fact that it was buttered and pressed took it over the top. We will definitely be going back. This place is a hidden gem in Pompano Beach!

My husband & I stopped at this deli on the way back from the Keys after reading the reviews on Yelp. I had a Cuban sandwich and it was one of, if not the best Cubans I've ever had. Husband had a roast beef and Swiss, which he lied as well. The sandwiches are piled high with shaved meat on great bread. The service was fast and friendly, and the owner clearly takes pride in his restaurant. We would drive 50 miles past a dozen Subways to get to this place!!!

Best Cuban Sandwich in the Northwest. So I hear this joint has the best Cuban Sandwich around, so I pop in. Small joint nothing much to it with two guys working. I tell them that I heard they make the best Cuban sandwich etc... And they say, that's what they say all over the internet. I place my order and get my sandwich with no mayo and extra cheese. I paid for the sandwich said thank you to the guys and split. Just so you know this sandwich was not cheap. Maybe 11 bucks and change. I got home and open the box and this thing looked great see pic. By far the best Cuban I've had since Crocante Bakery but this was way bigger. The construction of the sandwich was perfect and there was plenty of meat. Since I got extra cheese some of it oozed out and was fried on the griddle which in my opinion added to the flavor. Very good job! I didn't go overboard with my review because it was my first time there and I only got a hot sub. Clearly the Cuban is 5 stars so I highly recommend it. This is officially my first review on Yelp. This place definitely requires me to go out of my way to recommend it. Amazing subs and service. I've never met anyone so passionate about what they do and how they do it. Bill treats his customers like family. It's always nice to drive totally out of our way to go say hi, have the best sandwiches we've ever had, and hang out for a while. I've tried the Cuban and the pressed Italian, both amazing. Trust him to make it according to his suggestions, we always do, and it turns out amazing. There's a science to his sub making.

Grading is based on a sub-shop curve. This and Laspadas earn five stars as sub shops. The meat is fresh and shaved to order. The bread is soft enough and toppings are crisp and plentiful. Refill machine for drinks is available. The owner is no-nonsense but friendly. I've been coming here for a long time and have never had a bad sandwich. The cuban is fantastic, the meats being shaved give it a tender texture that just melts in your mouth. Locally owned which I will always support when done like this!

What can you say about small business except there usually the best places. I had lunch there today and wow the food,excellent, the owner is a riot, friendly, with everyone. Big subs lots of meat it will fill you up, but dam good. I highly recommend this sub shop you will not be disappointed.

Truly a Margate gem with the best subs in town. I've tried their Italian and Cuban and they are they best around. The Italian is loaded with meat on fresh bread, and the Cuban rivals those of Miami, the sandwich is pressed to perfection. If you ever find yourself asking what you should have for lunch head over to Shavedway you will not be disappointed.

In my never ending quest to try every sub shop around, I finally made my way to shavedway. It's a very small place, like original Laspadas small, but the young man behind the counter couldn't have been nicer to me, and the shop was very clean as well. I had my go to Italian I order everywhere, and it was really very good shavedway style. The bread wasn't my favorite, definitely better at Laspadas, but the toppings were super fresh. I particularly like how they prep their tomatoes, there are no seeds or liquid and the cut them into uniform bite size pieces. Really nice touch. They also get a thumbs up for having black olives. I prefer sliced cheese over the shredded they put on my sub, but the portion was large and you could really taste the provolone on the sandwich. Overall I'd give them a 4.5, my third favorite shop behind subs, subs, subs and Laspadas.

Excellent customer service and awesome subs. We had the Cuban last week and the steak and cheese this week. Both are to die for! They also have a huge selection of cold subs. If you go, I would also try the meatball sub because they press it like a cuban which is awesome. Definitely a local must try!

Amazing Cuban sandwich. It's so good and filling that I can't eat for hours and hours afterwards. The only downside is the hours they are open. I can only go in on Saturdays for lunch because I work too far away and they aren't open dinner hours or Sundays. But that won't keeps away!!

I typically order an 8" turkey & ham on wheat. The Cuban is my second favorite. The bread is perfect and they are able to load it up with fresh toppings so it doesn't fall apart. One of the best in Broward. A++++

Stopped here based onYelp reviews. BF wanted a philly cheesesteak ... they didnt have mushrooms, but he got it anyway. It was good. I got a wrap. I originally wanted the spinach wrap with turkey breast but they didnt have it either so I settled for the tomato wrap. It was good. The turkey breast was very tender. I wish they offered chicken breast though. And if they had more toppings for the wraps / sandwiches that'd also be good. The owner is a nice guy. If I am in the area again I would go back.

This place is easy to miss if you're not looking, in a very small strip of stores off Atlantic, but a really great find. I am normally a turkey sub person no matter what; however, I came here as I was moving into my new house in the area, taking a break from painting and I was too exhausted to even decided if I wanted mustard or mayo...but they had a cuban sandwich on the menu, all toppings decided for me. Now I'm not sure I've ever really had a cuban sandwich, so I can make no statements as to its authenticity or anything of that nature, but I know that it tasted amazing. The bread was perfectly toasted and everything inside was hot and amazing...now I'm not sure I could ever go back to a normal turkey sub at this place. Prices were reasonable especially considering the size of the sandwich, and the owner was very friendly. They also had some unique sodas at the fountain (sarsaparilla). I'm glad I discovered this place so soon after moving in nearby.

A really great sub! The quality of ingredients is really good, toppings and bun are fresh. The way they assemble their subs is unique. Restaurant and kitchen is very clean. Great food at a great price. If you've been eating at Subway and some of the other sub shops you definitely want to try Shavedway. These guys know how to build a sub. No skimpy sandwiches at this place. I was visiting from Stuart and looked for a lunch spot in the Coral Springs/Margate area. This was the only place that had a complete 5 Star rating, and they deserve it!

Don't blink while driving along Atlantic or you'll miss it, and that would be a shame. Family-run, phenomenal food and service. Order early or call ahead because the most popular items with the regulars sell-out fast. All sandwiches are made to order, to include shaving the meat, but it's worth the short wait.

A great find. Tons of thin shaved meat and toppings crammed into soft bread and really tightly wrapped like a bullet to compress each bite with some of everything, everytime. The tuna and chicken salads are homemade and the cuban sandwiches are super too. This is exactly the type of place people should be supporting in today's economy. A great local couple run the place and will be sure to learn you by name. Bill is the owner operator who has the right recommendation everytime. Give em a try.
