What a little gem!! My sweetie and I decided to take a little road trip this afternoon and were told about country fish and chicken. If you're wanting a cute little place with a scenic view and a whiny waitress named Brittany, then this isn't the place for you. If, however, you're looking for good home cooked chicken and fish served in an open-air environment, then this is your place. We had the fish dinner combo fried in cornmeal batter and OMG! It was smack your momma good! The combo came with two sides. I had the collard greens and mashed potatoes and gravy. So good I think the heavens parted slightly!! My sweetness had the Mac and cheese and corn on the cob for his sides - holy cow were they good! We also decided to split a piece of pound cake and it too was dynamite. Moist and lemony. A perfect end to a perfect meal. Lakeland is a bit of a drive for us but we'll definitely be back. Give them a try, you won't be sorry!!

I was travelling through on business, I have a friend who has been talking about this place for years, so I had to find it. I must say I was concerned when I pulled up to the little stand with a drive through window and walk up counter, but the line of people waiting to order was reassuring. I ordered the chicken fingers and added a piece of fish, since both are in the name! While I was waiting for my food, I met Keith, the owner...he encouraged me to try the Gizzards, my reply---I'll try anything once. After a couple minutes, my freshly fried chicken and fish was ready, along with my "small drink" a 32 oz diet coke resting on crushed ice. The box of food must have weighed a couple pounds with the added weight of the great fries, hot sauce, and homemade honey mustard. This was southern comfort food at its absolute best! Best chicken, even better fish, delicious fries, and the gizzards....Amazing!!

I give 'em a three and a half. As a tourist passing thru, I did not see a restroom here. There appears to be no indoor dining, either. There are two walk-up windows opening to the front sidewalk, and a drive-thru window on the side. There may be fifteen orders ahead of you, so call your order in ahead, or be prepared to wait ten minutes or so for your food. That said, my fish sandwich was excellent, and big. If it's a nice day, have a picnic at the tables in the little park next door.

It wouldn't kill to be polite when someone calls and says thank you after asking what time you close. Rude! Rude! Rude!

OMG what is all the hype about. I ordered the gizzards n they are obviously stewed first then fried. This did NOT work for me. No crunch whatsoever. Gross! Fish was greasy n the collards had no seasoning. No thank u "Country".

Best chicken and sweet tea in town! It's window service only, and due to the noise from the road 15' away it can be hard to hear, but ohmigosh the food is simply awesome.

This would b a five star if it had indoor seating. The prices are very reasonable. The food comes out hot. The wings are whole, not drumetttes . The gizzards melt in your mouth.

What's there to say that everyone else has already said, hands down some of the best fried chicken I've ever had .crispy ,hot ,on the outside and inside. but moist and huge portions. That is on everything they offer but one thing people have not spoken about this place is about their awesome fried fish .it must weigh 4 pounds and it is just as delightful and super awesome as everything else is. so if you're in the mood for chicken, fish, gizzards, or cake or even the best sweeeeeet Tea, by the way. Stop in here you'll never be disappointed .good Christian folks doing a great job .helping their community out and every way they can. also for many years the families that have owned this place have been not only great food staple .but a moral and Christian staple of the community.love just. Driving bye reading there sign out front.

The chicken gizzards were really good. They were tender and tasty. The sides were ok, I ordered the pound cake, but for some reason forgot it at the window. Will definitely go back to try the pound cake and maybe try the fried chicken. **Also I went during the afternoon on a weekday, and only waited about 5 minutes for my food.

The chicken and fish are extraordinarily good and you can't go wrong ordering either. But the fried chicken gizzards, dare I say, steal the show. They are simply out of this world. This little gem is over an hour from where I live so pick some up for me if you're in the area. Large please!

There is something magical about biting into a crisp but unburnt crust and finding a soft and moist interior. My grandma's corn bread comes to mind. My sister's mac'n'cheese. And the fried chicken at Country Chicken & Fish. I had a good day working out at the gym. It is summer, and we girls are supposed to be getting into our summer bikinis or something like that. I came home and showered off the sweat and sank into my bed for a nice long nap. The first thing that came to my mind when I woke up was a piece of fried chicken. I said "Summer body be dammed. I am getting myself a fried chicken." So my girlfriend and I put on our clothes and googled directions to Country Chicken & Fish. We had never been there before but our coworkers talked about it all the time. So we made our way up 10th Street towards Kathleen Rd. For affluent local yelpers who don't get out much for soul food, Parkview Pl. becomes 10th Street on the West side of N. Florida Ave. Sometimes changing the name of a street is the easiest way to dissociate from stigma. But I digress. The last part is short. We ordered at the window and drove home with the smell of fried chicken filling up my tiny hatchback (a pick-up window is all this place has, and all it needs, frankly.) For once, there was no disconnect between what this place promised and what it delivered. We devoured the chicken down to the bone even before either of us could snap a photo for instagram. Oh well! #cantwaittogoback

THANK THE LORD ABOVE THAT A PLACE LIKE THIS EXISTS! Just amazing food. Simply put, simple food, simply made, and simply delicious. I had the 3 piece fish dinner with corn on the cob, and mac and cheese. I had 2 pieces of fish rolled in corn meal and one piece in batter to try. Deep fried to perfection, moist, flavorful, crispity crunchy fish. Sweet corn on the cob slathered in melted butter and xtra cheesy mac and cheese. The wife signed off on the collard greens and genuine and the mashed potatoes and gravy were southern to the last bite. Nice picnic tables under nice shade trees to enjoy the nice weather and we finished off the meal with a delightful slice of pound cake with nary a trace of lemon flavor. I washed it all down with a southern swwet tea that you could stand a spoon up in the middle of the cup it had so much sugar! The only way to drink southern sweet tea!!! Tartar sauce and hot sauce available but missing a nice cocktail sauce to round out this meal but well worth the stop and a little bit of a wait in line. But isnt good comfort food worth waiting a bit for? Chicken and Shrimp are also on the menu and I heard many a folk in line raving about the chicken wings. Definately worth the road trip!!!

I cannot get enough of the gizzards and chicken here. The chicken is crispy and the gizzards very tender. My friend who is very picky could not stop eating those gizzards and that made my day. The prices are so reasonable, and best of all they take debit. This place has the best gizzards sorry am repeating myself but you get the point I like them to be tender and not chewey and these are just that way. They have the best food. I love the chicken here, too. So do the kids. The food is made fresh to order, so you will have to wait a few minutes. Calling ahead is an option, and I strongly recommend it! Absolutely the best!

Thanks to Jeff Houck for introducing me to this place. Great fried chicken! You come up to the window and literally have to bend over and place your order. Quick and friendly service. I took a bite of the chicken and I was in love! Glad we were able to check them out. Truly as good as it gets. I am from Kissimmee, but I will drive to Lakeland anytime to get this yummy chicken. Two thumbs up!

I have had a couple of places better (just a couple) and many many worse than this. They don't ask white OR dark meat but - what pieces do you want? The chicken is fried light, meaning it is not heavy nor is it real greasy. You will be ok if you miss it but you can go here and just get some good fried chicken at a reasonable price that is better than average! People in Lakeland say it is the best in town. It just might be ,,,,, you need to try it1 Enjoy the characters that stand outside waiting on their order .... the place has character, that's for sure!!!
