Thank you fellow Yelpers for leading me to this gem. Best mofongo ever at very reasonable price. My take is add $1 n get the trifongo instead. I certainly over order. Had the lunch special too, fried pork with rice and yuca mojo n a lone plantain mojo. Didn't care for the plantain mojo but the yuca is good. Not oily, which is what I like. Had the trifongo with pork pernil. The crackling is a lil tough but flavorful. The pork is a little dry but the flavor is spot on. A lil hot sauce helps. My lunch company had the Cuban sandwich n another had the fried chicken on the bone with rice n beans. The sandwich comes with chock full of meat but doesn't taste as good as cafe Pinar's. The beans is lackluster compared to Cafe Pinar. I also got an order of goat stew to go. They charge you by the pound, but don't worry. It is very cheap. My advice is don't skip it. The goat stew is melt in your mouth tender and taste really good. Will definitely stick with trifongo with pork pernil and an order of goat stew next time. The AC needs a lot work. Get your food to go.

I was there this past week while in the Orlando area and it is the best dinner we had during our whole vacation. I had a sit down lunch one day with 2 others and it was very reasonably priced and the food was great. It's like someones grandmother straight from PR made it!

I'm going to give it 5 stars. Although we waited for a bit to get in, the staff was so friendly that it was tolerable. Great job staff! Powered the skirt steak with the mofongo and it was awesome! Wish their was one in New Jersey :( Anyway, great place!

First time here. We were the only non-Hispanics in this otherwise packed restaurant, so you know it's got to be good. And it was! Everything very flavorful and properly cooked. Extensive buffet. Tough decision. Limited beer and wine selection.

Food is moderately pricesd but the service is Laughable. Pedestrian. No one in there knew anything about decent customer service.

Incredible find - amazing beans and rice - amazing aji sauce - friend had the pork and thought it was one of the best he'd ever had! No sauce required! Great lunch specials Monday and Friday! We ate off menu but combo plates from hot bar looked great too

A very authentic place to have Puerto Rican mofongo, a small hole in the wall by WDW with pumping reggaeton that made me love plantains even more than I already do. This hole in the wall had a line for to-go orders practically out the door and we were lucky to snag the last sit-down table for dinner as one of the few non-Latino diners. The mofongo came out served with tomato and lettuce with a meat of your choice and cost about $10, the lowest cost for a mofongo with meat. The mofongo was served as cooked dry plantains that although was purposefully dry, was seasoned to not notice the dryness. Unfortunately my chuleta was overcooked, but I had a chance to try the chicharron de pollo mofongo and the chicken there was crispy and tender. Definitely authentic and as my first mofongo experience, made me want more. Points off for overcooked meat and atmosphere.

I've visited the area twice in the past month and this was my second time hitting up TropiFongo. I'm from Philly and born and raised on Abuela's Puerto Rican food, but this place gives her a run for the money (just don't tell her that). This mofongo is second to none and has a moistness to it while keeping the traditionally dry appearance. I've had it with the carne frita: flavorful crispy but not dry which is tough to pull off, the peril is moist and you will feel like you are in PR once you bite into the cuerito. The place is a local favorite which says a lot given the amount of Ricans in the area, and the line for a table is usually really long so be prepared to wait, but trust it will be worth it. Oh and the staff is super nice and the decor makes you feel like you are right on the isla.

Very good, very authentic, very greasy! hehe. It's expected with this type of food but my tummy was feeling the aftermath. The chicharron is amazing. Empanadas were alright, very oily. I think I don't like mofongo, it was bland to me. But overall it's worth trying.

We had the Mofongo with pernil and fried pork! OMG!.....it was delicious! The portion size is enough for 2 meals! We had this in Puerto Rico last week..... But this restaurant is way better! Service was great!

Very good Puerto Rican food. I recommend the Arroz con Gandules, the Chicken , pork, and beef chucks are all delish. Service was good as well and very attentive I highly recommend this place.

As we were staying at a resort near by we were tired of the food, there weren't that many options and we needed some good sazon, something that reminded us of our hometown. We decided to yelp a couple of places and found this puerto rican/dominican spot, it had good reviews, spanish food, picture of dishes looked very decent so we said why not. As soon as we arrived we didn't know whether we needed to be seated or we could just pick a table, we decided to take matters into our own hands and sat down, waitress explained we could order from the menu or the buffet area, we chose the buffet as you are able to see how good the dishes look for you to choose. We went with the chicharron, pepper steak, white and yellow rice, potato salad, maduros, black beans and rotisserie chicken. Btw it was 3 of us so even though it seems like we went in, it was divided into 3 people, pa la dieta you know. It was so refreshing to find this lil spot, food was great, very inexpensive food, friendly service. All that food, plus drinks and additional side dishes came to no lie less than $30. Where they do that at? My wife, daughter and I left very satisfied. Too bad we didn't stay any longer otherwise i would of have visited this spot daily. I don't understand the negative reviews, don't let it stop you from visiting, you wont be disappointed.

Food is good but the place is small. The price is good I had spent $60 plus tax on 5 ppl..

The mofongo was very flavorful and the meats were very tasty. The fried pork and pernil were good. The chicken was seasoned good. We did take out so by the time we ate it, the chicken was a little bit hard. The fried plantains was very sweet. I asked for the green sauce to go and I was glad I did. It is garlic oil based and complimented the mofongo very well. If you do take out, make sure to ask for the green sauce to go. Wished they had fried yuca but they did not have any. One of the best mofongo I had in a while. Would most definitely go back to this place.

The food was Delicious. Had me thinking I was back home. My seafood mofongo was well worth the $$. Definitely a place to stop and eat. Oh and did I mention the quecito are AWESOME!!!!

This place is not too far from the Disney area, a few miles away from the Vineland/Premium outlets. Puerto Rican Food. The food we ordered from their buffet counter was just OK. The fried chicken was dry-- almost as if it's been sitting on the counter for a while. The food we ordered from the menu-- Chicharron de Cerdo Mofongo was VerY good though--- it was made to order, so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. Very tasty!!! Service was kind of whack!! Lacking! Almost felt like we were bothering our server by being there. Although, other servers seem to be very friendly with the other customers..off day maybe? Also a good place to get 'To Go' order when on a rush.

First time I ever heard of or had Mofongo so didn't know what to expect. It was really good as was all the meats. Went with a big group so got to try pulled pork, chicken need and shrimp. All was very tasty. Service was fast and folks who worked there were very helpful to explain all the dishes. Definitely would go back.

  • Kyle W.

Wasn't impressed with the food, bad timing. Monfongo with Pernil - good Beef Empanadas - ok, too much dough, little meat. Con Pollo (fried chicken) w/yellow rice - old chicken, rice was extra salty.

Hole in the wall place with decent food. Demerits for a confusing setup, non operational air conditioning, and loud versions of what I imagine is the Brazillians' equivalent of country lite Muzak pumping loudly through the speakers - a human being can only take so much. If that's your jam, bump it up to four stars.

A bit loud but Affordable prices, Churrasco was delicious and the chicken sancocho very good, No Bones!!! ... Big plates possible good to share. The service fast and pleasant, and the rest rooms very clean

A must stop for people in the Disney area looking for Puerto Rican food. Top notch serving line style restaurant. Everything looked amazing. Portion sizes are monstrous and I was shocked how little they charge. 5 star value. Place is smallish and take out is a big part of the business. People were very friendly and accommodating to me as I don't speak Spanish. Dining area was basic and blah. I highly recommend the food.

    (4)
  • Melissa C.

Amazing!!!!!! We had the octopus salad and the Churrasco with mofongo, very moist mofongo didn't need the broth and the Churrasco was very well seasoned. Very affordable and delicious food. Good atmosphere and very attenti

Not the greatest place. Beans were over seasoned. Chicken was boring. Wanted to shredded pork but here they make it with bbq sauce - nothing Spanish about that.

Very disappointing. I expected much more based on the positive reviews. My first complain will explain why they barely get two stars. - they "ran" out of arroz con guandules!! How exactly that happens is beyond me. Note: if you own a Puerto Rican restaurant and you don't serve or have arroz con guandules CLOSE SHOP. I ordered pork chops with arroz con guandules which was replaced with white rice without even asking me if I wanted white rice, and Tostones. It was meh, ok nothing to write home about. She ordered the Churrasco Mofongo (which by the way is NOT Churrasco, more like a palomilla steak) the Mofongo was on the dry side but not horrible. The serving style was very lazy just plopping the uncut steak on top of the Mofongo instead of at least chopping it up in pieces. I highly recommend you order the mini because the regular is HUGE! They also ran out of flan de coco, all this around 3PM. The service was very unorganized but friendly. They just need some direction seems like one server for 10 tables. The prices are affordable.

Hmmm where do I start on this review. Let me start by when I first got there the place was a bit busy had to wait for a table mind u there was 3 tables dirty no one cleaning them. Finally some one cleaned them Got us seated now heres when all goes down hill our waiter walked around us like 3 times didn't event asked if some one was taking our order. Now 5 mins later another waiter comes over asked if we being helped I said no now the original waiter comes over and take our order. I Order the rice with beans and pernil with alcapurias my girl order the mofongo with amarillos and chicharon. Food comes to our table I was so happy everything looked good. But ones we started to dig in man this food is so bland it needs help I think the cook scared of using salt didn't taste the adobo sazon nor Sofrito what a let down. I mean the place nice and all but damn cook use the Spanish ingredients com on!! The place has room for improvement so till then will give 3 stars.

Great arroz con pollo and really great portion sizes for a cant beat it price. The meats I had (fried chicken and ribs) Weren't bad but nothing noteworthy. My family will be back again next time we're in the area.

Best Spanish food I have ever had. I read a ton of good reviews on here and had to check the place out for myself. The food is really good. One issue I had is that I stood in line not knowing i could have just sat down to order the Mofongo, but that didn't matter because I ordered food from the buffet too. ;-) The menu board is in English and Spanish which made it easy to order. Someone on here said you have to try the mojito sauce that was on the table. They weren't lying. It was so good I smothered everything with it. I highly recommend this place and am pretty sure I will stop by again before the end of my vacation.

Three words: delicious, Fresh, cheap. Great variety and friendly staff. I have had numerous dishes here and my favorites are the pulpo salad and the Ribs. They are quite busy during lunchtime so you may have to wait for seating. I only wish they stayed open later than 8:00p

Well to start, those pretty girls that serve you should learn what the food is, they don't know anything just pretty girls. When I went today to order they only had white rice and a chinese rice that was horrible plus they charge you More because is chinese LOL. The girl told me for 5 dollars you get Rice a side of meat and beans, please tell me why I ended up paying $10.15 for my lunch I noticed later, stupid me that did not check. Not a good place to eat, before it was one of the best now not worth it, drive a little further and go to Bravos on 192 much better . The mofongo used to be good but the guy that used to make it there fresh in front of you, don't know where he went. You wait to get service and they need to be trained as waitresses and understand that they are there to serve you not to look pretty and act dumb. They act like they don't care for the costumers needs!

Hidden gem - no, more like a diamond in the rough. Tried this place purely as a Yelp suggestion. We wanted Cuban food or something that wasn't Disney or a chain restaurant but with a local feel. It's a bit confusing once you walk in. The place is clean, but a bit divey. There is a huge layout of fresh food but it's not a buffet, yet looks like one. You pick your meats and sides. I tried to ask someone dining there how it worked, but he didn't speak english. I think a lot of local Puerto Ricans go here. The food is outstanding! I ordered skirt steak off the menu but the other adults in our party got the buffet dishes so I had to wait a lot longer for my food - which was not an issue. Once I tasted it, with the amazing green garlic olive oil sauce on the table, I was hooked. I think the waitress said the sauce was mojito - but maybe I didn't understand her since I only know the cocktail mojito. Well, the food was soooo delicious! The kids ordered boring kids meals, which i was grateful they offered, but they also ate our food which they couldn't stop chowing on. My kids are picky too so that was surprising. That was hands down our best meal in Orlando. Yelp rocks at scoring amazing places to visit! Oh and at under $10 a person - sooo worth it!

Came here will visiting disney world. The food was delicious. We went to legoland the next day and drove the hour back just to eat there again. Trifongo with steak is yummy.

Does that word "AUTHENTIC" mean anything to you? It does to me. The food is great, they serve drinks and the prices are ridiculously low! If this place had a bigger, nicer location, they would do a killing! Bring in the GRINGOS! Only suggestion is they should BI-LINGUAL the menu so newbies understand the food choices. Currently it's entirely in Spanish!

When I visited Orlando this past month we decided to try this place. First off, they are extremely nice & were probably one of the best services we had when we were in Orlando. Our server was amazing & she explained the menu & buffet pretty well. We all ordered different plates & some had the buffet. The mofongo was mouthwatering. We added the hot sauce that was their special recipe & we couldn't get enough of it! We even bought some to take home with us (of course we had to buy containers for the plane ride else where). I will always go to this place & I'm sure I will always buy a tub of hot sauce!

I just moved from Michigan 2 weeks ago and been looking for some good Puerto rican Food. I found this place online. I almost didn't go cause some ppl wrote bad reviews. I decided to still go and check out since it's right by my house and I'm so happy I did. The place was super packed so that alone said a lot. The lady at the register was very friendly and knew the menu well. My man was with me (he's white) and he is a very picky eater. The only Puerto rican food that he eats is my cooking. By surprise he loved their Food. I loved it too. I got the tripleta and a side of macaroni salad. I looked around and saw the plates of other people and it all looked mouth watering. Portions are very filling... might even need a to go box. Place is clean and pretty and also they were playing that old school salsa that I grew you listening to. I will definitely be a regular!

Pretty decent and inexpensive home style Puerto Rican food is served here. Plus, the portions are very generous. Wait staff is very nice and friendly.

Me and some friends went there for the first time because we wanted some mofongo. We loved the food there and the service was quick and friendly. Unfortunately the second time we went there, a week after, we arrived the restaurant 30 minutes before closing time, and they told us that we could not dine in nor order mofongo because it was too late and they closed the kitchen. Is that the way they do business? I definitely don't recommend this place to anyone, and definitely I am not going back there again. RIP Tropico Mofongo.

The food was scrumptious! The pork and chicken soup was phenomenal, very tender! They gave you a huge helping of meat, veggies, and rice. The tres leche was delish as well. Haven't had great dessert as that since I could remember. Would recommend this restaurant! The price wasn't shabby at all!!

  • Juan F.

Has to be one the best Puerto Rican restaurants that I have had in a while. The food was fresh. I had the carne frita (fried pork chunks) and it was outstanding. The location was close to the resort and clean another plus

The food is Authentic but the service is wack. And if you didn't pass Spanish in high school then reading the menu is impossible. Not really friendly or inviting.

I ate like a king. There is little else to say. I will however try to expand for those who question. I had the privilege of coming here as a white boy with my wife and her Puerto Rican family. We ordered many items and ate family style. There was not one thing that came to the table that was even slightly not tasty. The mofongo was incredible. We had the pork and beef variations both of which were prepared excellently. The empanadas were also to die for. They had a great crisp to the shell but the meat was tender and juicy. I highly recommend the sauces at the table to accent them. We finished the meal with tres leches. Do not leave without a serving if this even if you have to unbutton your pants to get up from your chair. For the price this place is unbeatable. I also recommend marrying into a Puerto Rican family for the experience! ;)

My family and I just ate there tonight and I must say it was our best meal in Orlando! The husband is Puerto Rican and ordered the bacalao(cod fish), which was yummy. He said it reminded him of how his mom prepared it. I had pernil (pork shoulder) with rice n peas and red beans - that was amazing. Ma had baked chicken and she loved it. My nephew had the pork chops that were tasty. Everything was perfectly seasoned and the chimichurri was a great enhancement. Our waitress, Belkis from New York, is a sweetheart. It felt like we were in PR, not Florida. Real home cooking that I will never forget, thanks Tropico Mofongo!

It's been about two months since I ate here, and I can still taste it. Maybe I'm just hungry right now, but it doesn't get much better than this. Wonderful Caribbean food. Cafeteria style, so you pick your items from behind the glass and they slop it down on the plate for you. Pollo, pescado, carne. Do you really need anymore Spanish than that? They speak English, but don't go asking them if anything is gluten-free or complain about being allergic to salt. Crazy cheap too. I think we both ate for around $14 with food left over and two cans of soda. Patrons seem to be mostly service workers from the local hotels, with a couple of refugees with Disney-itis, like me. I took it as a good sign. I wish I had a place like this down the street from me. I'd be in here a few times a week.

We were visiting from NJ and decided to find a Puerto Rican restaurant in the area close to our hotel. I found this place with the help of yelp and was pleasantly surprised. The food was pretty good. I had the mofongo with Churrasco. The steak was deliciously seasoned and cooked properly so it was not dry at all. Note, the steak is not churrasco, it's palomilla which is still a good cut of meat. My husband had the food from the buffet area. He was very satisfied with the food as well. No complaints with the food. I read previous reviews about the service. I must say the lady at the counter was very nice, as well as some of the girls that came by our table. I think the problem is that they get so "busy" , they may get a little overwhelmed. That's what I saw from my observations but regardless, I have no complaints because they were all nice. I recommend this place if you want to come eat Puerto Rican food without all the frills. The price was definitely right!

  • Lena T.

This is the place to eat, folks! This is where locals are getting food. Their portion is generous. Two kinds of rice, white and another one is regular puerto-rican style rice with pigeon peas, tons of meat. Very polite service, home made meal, what can be better. Highly suggest this place!

This place is a cafeteria pretend to be a restaurant. Food was bad. Service was none. Server didn't care to help us. We wanted to try local Latin food and it was disappointed. Don't go there.

My husband's family was in town and my brother in law loves to try different cuisines. He found this place to eat so we thought we'd try it. When we walked in, we were a little overwhelmed. There were a bunch of selections to choose from that they would dish for you, but nothing was labeled. The place was packed though! I was the last to order in my group. I asked for arroz con pollo, since it was the only thing I was familiar with but they had run out. (Surprised since it was still early-ish in the evening). So I asked for just plain chicken with white rice. The guy serving me asked if I wanted anything on top like beans, which I said no to. He asked if I wanted any sauce. I told him that as long as it wasn't spicy, to put whichever one he liked on it. My food was yummy. The servings were HUGE! The chicken was flavorful as was the sauce on the rice. Everyone else in my party enjoyed their meals as well. It's definitely a small place that I would normally have skipped but it was clean and a fun find.

Cheap, but taste not so good. Food a little old. Rice with beans hard, dry and not seasoned well. There are better options out there.

This is the best place in the Orlando area for true Puerto Rican food. Everything from pernil to an awesome monfongo. I just finished a monfongo with chicken and it was incredible. Authentic flavor and served in a huge pilon which they use to make it in. The garlic explodes in your mouth and everything is just on point. VERY AFFORDABLE TOO..order of maduros only a buck, coffee only a buck, even a bottle of water a buck. Two can eat for less than 25 and good size portions with amazing food. Will come back again and again!!!

Incredible, authentic Latin food. The menu changes daily, but you can't go wrong with the chicharronos or the wings with special seasoning. Also, very reasonably priced!

  • Patrick H.

Hole in the wall and you would never expect such amazing food but just driving by. It's the true taste of Puerto Rico! The rice and beans were like grandmas and the Mofongo is the best that I have tasted in a long time. If your looking for the authentic Puerto Rican taste.. Look this place up and you will not be disappointed.

Waited in line, then when we got to the front we were told the kitchen was closed. No hours were posted and there was still food in the service area. Didn't even attempt to make a sale. 1 other person behind us and we were all turned away. Guess they have enough business

One of my favorite spots in Orlando area. The pork is to die for. Huge portions and crazy good prices. They close the kitchen up pretty early, so get there before 5 or so to get what's left. When items are gone for the day, they are gone! Highly recommend.

We wanted Mexican but the wait was too long for our son. So we found this on yelp. The waitress was so nice. The menu is Spanish...but I had read yelp reviews so I knew what to order. We got the 3 meat combo and had the pork, chicken stew and rotisserie chicken and yummy rice. So good. Great flavor. The chimmichurri on the table was nice nd the hot sauce too. We tried the mofongo but didn't think much of it?... Think you have to grow up with it. It wasn't bad though. Very thick and heavy...but can see how t would be good with meat like we saw others eating it. The kid had nice chicken tenders but he actually liked our rice and chicken! Would recommend. Lots of food, we shared the entree. And the whole bill was $24!

Wow being in the military I have moved around quite often in search of food from my origin and have yet to find it...made a family trip to Disney World, 10 hours away from where I'm stationed and found this local GEM...taste like my favorite hometown spot but some stuff is even better than that- at Tropico Mofongo! Amazing! We were starving after a day at the Disney park but our eyes were definitely too big for our bellies. The mofongo is good for two people with a large amount I whichever meat you choose and a little salad included in the plate. It would taste even better with something saucy, like habichuelas Guisao Next we ordered the two meat with arroz con habichuelas, for $7.99 a you can actually feed 2 hungry men or 3 people...seriously! For sides we ordered maduros frito and they were absolutely sweet to perfection. The morcillas (blood sausage) OMG were amazing. And I was so hot on he days trip I decided to indulge in a Batida de Piña Colada...lets just say I was in paradise until my husband, mother and two kids had a taste and were just as happy. We all went to my little island of paradise;) and my baby didn't want to let the cup go so it was truly the way to start the meal I suppose! Great food and friendly staff!!! Feels like being back in the Bronx Latino cuisine spots...man I miss this so much...

My daughter finished her chicken soup and declared "That was magical'. That pretty well sums it up. Amazing chicken, awesome carne asada, an introduction to mofongo that ROCKED my world. Plus rice and beans that I would have happily eaten with my hands they were so good. It's a little dump but the food they make is wonderful.

I took my wife and her niece here, they are both New Yorican They loved the food, of course they both had the Mofongo. However we all agreed the service needs great improvement, I think we was there at the time of a shift change, the service was poor at best.

FOOD was EXCELLENT! SERVICE was NOT! I arrived at 8:20 for a 9pm closing. All of the descriptions and the look of the place make it sound like a fast food/diner style of place. When i got there, no food was in the large glass display case, except two things of seafood salad, which excited me because I figured either they had begun cleaning up (which is stupid to take ALL your food out) or that the place is that popular. I tried to think the latter. When I approached the counter the young lady verbally told me (and showed me a hand written list) of all the meats/offerings they have left, which at the time I didn't give a second thought, but retrospectively it means the food had already been pulled out of proper temperature holding and I suspect either placed into a hot box, or was sitting on a counter. I asked a few questions about the menu which the girl answered, not terribly thoroughly and after a while seemed to be kinda annoyed when I had follow up questions to understand her vague answers. I settled on the Pork Mofango and a side of Tripe. I had never had Mofango before and Tripe is a rarity so I tried while I could. I also noticed the juices in the juice machine and ordered a passion fruit whatever its called. I tried to find a table (at this point about 8:28, but they were all either taken or dirty with plates and other stuff on it. There were probably 5 or 6 people working at the time, so plenty of hands for someone to run through and clean the FOH, but one of the ladies was too visibly cleaning the BOH already. After standing by the least nasty table for five minutes I finally stopped one of the staff and asked her to clean the table so I could sit down and she point blank told me, (fairly nicely but thats not the point, that my order was to go, if it was put in after 8:30, to which I quickly said that I was never asked for here or to go, there is no signage indicating to go only and I'm pretty sure my order was in before that time. I also said if that was the case, I would not have ordered because I did not want "To Go" food, I wanted to sit down and enjoy the food fresh since it was my first time. Rather than just say OK, she had to to go check, which I found rather insulting, especially when I could see her talking to the girl who took my order, and them pointing and looking at me, but I had already paid so... More waiting ensued before she confirmed I ordered on time to dine in and then more waiting for the table to clear. I stood at the table for probably another ten minutes waiting for it to be cleaned before I finally gave in, sat down and waited, having decided this would be my first trip and my last. Finally the table got cleaned (and at this point I'm wondering if I'll ever see my juice or if I had to wait for the meal to come). As I waited, even more (remember, this food had theoretically just been pulled off a display line so it was already cooked and should have been MAINTAINED at temperature for food safety if they were still going to sell it) I watched the floors behind their counters getting watched and hosed down. I'm totally cool with pre-closing a restaurant, but this lady was in pretty plain view and food service was still going on. There was a hose, which causes things to spray up and float through the air, being used on a soapy, dirty floor, while food service was occurring. It just did not strike me as a food safety conscious decision, especially when there were STILL dirty tables in the dining room at this point. I also watched the same lady cleaning the floor empty trash bags, which would be fine if she didn't go into the back with them and come out with my food shortly after, with what looked like dry hands. It may not seem like a big deal, but it really is. I ate. It was good. When I left I looked over at the juice machines and could see from the different angle I had that they were filthy. There was juice caked to the sides of the dispenser. It was gross. With I happily left, but will definitely find a place to order Mofango again!

This place has the potential to be wonderful, however it let me down. The staff is super nice however the service in itself was slow, we were given water bottles and cans of spade but no straws no cups with ice. We had to wait to ask for some and for a party of 6 we were brought only 4. The beans were bland. The churrasco was okay, pretty thin and overly salty. Not terrible but just okay. All in all in a place where I can find other Latin restaurants I think I probably won't be back. Good luck to them though because like I said they are nice and have potential to be better.

I love to go to this place when I am craving some home cooking. It not expensive and its DELICIOUS. I've taken many of my friends here and they all love the food. It is probably the most authentic Puerto Rican food you can find in this area. They just remodeled it and now they have even MORE food options for you to choose from. This place isn't fancy so definitely don't come in with that mind set. The mofongo is amazing! You can reheat it at home and it still tastes amazing and not dry. To sum it up: casual, family, home cooking, great price, and PHENOMENAL taste!

I was cravin' me some Latin food and was shopping at Walmart...How convenient that Tropifongo was literally around the corner. I decided to try the Cuban and was told that they had the best Mofongo (by the guy at the counter)..The good news is that the fried chicken Mofongo is out of this world....the bad...I would not get the cuban again. So if you are looking for some good Mofongo and in the area...this is a sure bet!

Food was soooo good...and so much of it! Would recommend to all of my family and friends. I hope they will eventually have a bilingual menu. Price was so reasonable, I hope they can stay in business! Food was fabulous!

The food? No ideas, never got to taste it. The service? Horrible!! Got there for breakfast. They told us everything in the menu was available. We ordered a couple of their breakfast sandwiches. Sandwiches, OK? Nothing fancy or complicated. 30 minutes later, I ask where our order was. When I was told to "wait a moment", I told them I had already waited 30 minutes and to cancel the order. Can you believe the attendant took offense and justified themselves saying that they had just opened and that they were busy preparing their buffet? So, according to her, I should have been understanding and not mind they were wasting my time because they were busy and not ready! And why would anyone open a restaurant if you are not ready to promptly serve your patrons? If you are not going to be ready at 9 a.m., then get ready first and open at 10 a.m. Don't expect for your customers to sheepishly wait until you decide it's their turn to get your attention! You will fail.

I ate here 2 summers ago, after a day at typhoon lagoon. Not impressed.. The food at the buffet didn't look appetizing. I ordered my usual Mofongo and it was really dry, like I had to sip my water behind every bite. It had more chicken than Mofongo on my plate and the Mofongo is what I would have liked more of. and they were doing construct right by where we were .. Fixing the tables.. Annoying. I didn't even know this place existed, one of my friends from Jacksonville comes down to Kissimmee alot and would rave about the food there. But prob cuz Jacksonville's Spanish restaurants aren't that good so when he comes here he goes crazy about all the different options. Next! There are better places around town. That's another thing, you don't know you can order something from the kitchen or whatever if u don't want the buffet. They don't tell u its more about the buffet than anything else. But that was 2 Yrs ago.

I visited this place during my vacation in Florida. It is a nice local Puerto Rican spot if you're in the mood for Latin food. The setting is similar to Seinfeld's soup nazi place except for the tables and chairs...lol. I selected the carne guisada with white rice which was excellent. I also got the chance to try chicharron with arroz con gandules. Mmm mmm good. The prices are a-ok for a big plate.

My friend introduced this restaurant to me or else I never would've stumbled upon it. The portions here are HUGE. Big portions for cheap prices. The food was delicious. Will definitely come visit again!

Wow. That's it. I should finish the review with that. Wow. Under new management for a few months now and the place is hoppin at all times. The buffet has gotten bigger and the Mofongo has gotten yummier. Loads of choices. Great lunch specials daily. Great service. Very efficient. Dine in and take out both give you huge portions. I would say its easy to miss. Just rolled down your window and you will smell the Puerto Rican aroma in the air. Two thumbs up.

This place is a total hole in the wall near a gas station and in the Wal-Mart Plaza but they have some really good food. I'll stop here usually as a reward for surviving the crowds at Wal-Mart. These places were the norm when I lived in Puerto Rico so even though it's a tight fit with no decor, it's authentic and really the food speaks for itself. I usually get the Arroz con Pollo y Habichuelas to go plate with different variations of baked chicken and pinto/black beans, but I always throughly enjoy it. The chicken is very moist and seasoned perfectly, the rice isn't overcooked and doesn't have that all-day-in-a-rice-cooker texture to it, and the portions are very generous. I could eat a lunch of just beans as they have that authentic Puerto Rican flavor that's hard to replicate. You may need to brush up on a few spanish words before coming in here!

Why the three stars? The place is a little hard to find. Plus the place is also being remodel , which made it difficult to stay there and eat. So we ordered food and took it back to the hotel lobby. I thought the food was ok , my daughter did not. The area left a lot to be desired and I would have eaasily over looked that had the food been great. Definitely cheap prices.

Tropifongo serves latino/spanish food, and the place is what some might describe as a "Mom & Pop" place. It's located in a strip mall in front of a Wal-Mart...It's hard to find otherwise. If you blink you might miss it. I work in the area, and have been there 5 or 6 times. A sure sign that the food is good is the fact that every time I go, the place is packed with employees from all the neighboring hotels and resorts. The menu is in Spanish, and being a "Gringo", I was a little intimidated at first. Luckily, my coworkers speak Spanish & helped explain the menu! We usually get takeout. When you walk in, you place your order at the window and pay. There's maybe 10 tables inside, but no servers. The meal I've ordered the most is the combination plate of roast pork with beans and rice. Yummy! They make a pretty good Cuban sandwich too. I also highly recommend the mashed plantains! They have about 15 different combo plates, but you can also order multiple side order items...and depending on your appetite, a few of those might be enough. It does seem that they do most of their business at lunchtime. I grabbed a business card on my last trip: They're open 7am daily except Sundays. They close at 7pm Monday through Thursday and at 8pm Friday and Saturday. On Sundays, they're open 9am to 6pm. The prices are reasonable: The combo plates are roughly $6 to $9 each. Their side order items are each under $2.50. A great place for lunch...And an alternative to fast food!

I've just been to mofongo heaven and back, thanks to my fellow Yelpers' reviews. For the unacquainted, mofongo is fried plantains, mashed and seasoned with varying degrees of garlic, then shaped into a mound. It was exquisite, with just the right softness and seasoning. I had mine with juicy pork chops seared perfectly. I'm dribbling as I type. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and everyone spoke perfect English. The buffet counter displayed about 25 food choices, enough to appease the taste buds of an army of sumo wrestlers. It seems they have renovated the place and though the decor is not conducive to a pre-prom dinner date, it certainly was clean. It's located on Hway 535 aka Vineland between Polynesian Isle Blvd and Poinciana Blvd. Just want to make sure you find this diamond in the rough.

Eat there twice in one week during our visit to Orlando from California. The first visit was off the chain. The mofongo is some of the best we ever had...even in Puerto Rico. The rice and beans what delish. We had the Pollo Quisado and Pernil along with tostones and amarillios. Seating is limited and not very fancy. Service can be slow during peak dinner time but the food was worth the wait. Also, if you don't see something you like...ask. My wife was craving morcilla. It was not on the menu but they had some in the back. Aproveche!

Wow! Very good food. Place is okay but the food is very tasty. They had a good selection of already made meats and sides to order from the glass.

still trying to find a good place to eat that would remind me of good island food. Because Hawaii is a long way from here and when me and my wife found this place man did it remind us of good island food. Very similar but you can tell it's still island food. The best we have found so far being thousands of miles from home. We definetly recomend this to everyone that is looking for good island food. The Garlic chicken Mofongo is best. They even have ice candy!!

Went here based on yelp reviews and we weren't disappointed! We never had puertorican food before, but really liked it. The garlic chicken was very very garlicky and delicious. Enjoyed the mofongo and the rice and beans were tasty, my kids loved themalong with the fried chicken and pork with sweet plantains, yum! Don't worry if you're a gringo like me, the menu is in english and the woman at the counter speaks english. It was saturday evening and it took about 20 minutes to get our food, not too bad. I would recommend and go back.
