Well our normal Chinese takee outee has been going a little south lately. So I noticed this pace years ago and it just hasn't hit me right till tonight. I wanted some egg rolls so what the heck. The reviews were pretty good from a couple of old yelpers. Well how wrong could they be. In this case way wrong. The General Chicken wish is suppose to be hot or spicy was neither. The chicken was like warm at best and not a lick of spice. Then I went with lo mien noodles like I always go with. They were also very bland but they were a little closer to thermally hot. The egg rolls were just about the same as all of the other places. Fresh out of the bag I'm sure. Well all of a sudden pour old takee outee is looking much better. Atlas I know it is hot and cooked to order. I have seen it a bunch of times and now I will again.

Gross. The sushi tasted old and I ordered spicy salmon and spicy tuna and it was no spice at all. The special sauce was disgusting too. The noodles were bland and the general tso was jus ok. I will not order from here again. Threw out the sushi rolls after 2 bites. Waste of money.

The New Dragon presents itself as an ordinary looking Asian-themed takeout place on the north side of Jacksonville, along Route 17. What sets it apart from the others in the Oceanway-San Mateo area is the bottom line that delivers/serves very good Chinese style food. I have visited this take out place at least 5 times in the past few months. Each time I tried to order something different to get the flavor of the place going. The results were the same and I liked the plates I ordered.

This is great Chinese Food! Not sure why this place reflects "American", but it is Chinese. We thought it was very good. If fact, some of the best egg rolls we've had and we live in Hawaii with ample Chinese restaurants. I am not in agreement with other review that stated they were fast though. While on the phone I was put on hold twice and it took 45 minutes for the food to come. I am not complaining obviously since I am giving them 4 stars. I just want readers to know that it takes longer than you may think. But perhaps it is a sign they are in high demand too...because it is really good. The prices are decent as well. So, why the 4 stars and not 5? Oddly I was put off by how I was put on hold both times with no apology and considering we are in a hotel and that is where they delivered to...napkins would have been nice. We did appreciate the plates & forks though. I would have happily have given them a 4.5 if I could. Side note: This may be the norm around here...but I have never had Chinese delivered where I didn't automatically get a fortune cookie and had to order it. Bizarre! Just know that if you are looking for one...there won't be one unless you order it!

I would give it a five if they have the guy who takes the order over the phone more understanding. It was hard to communicate with him. The food was great came in a timely fashion.

I needed delivery and I was running out of time and choices. It doesn't matter because some times the cravings for american chinese are just too, too real. I didn't have a menu so went with a standard beef and broccoli combo with lo mein. But god bless whoever uploaded the portion of the menu so I saw they have sushi! No expectations, but it's not like I would DIE, right? It was actually okay especially for the price. Something like 8 pieces of spicy tuna for less than $4. The delivery was fast. They take card and tip over the phone. I was happy that I didn't have to get back into my car. The egg roll was on the soggy side, but let's be realistic. It's delivery at the end of the night. I'm getting the last of the scraggler egg rolls. It's all good.

I absolutely love their general chicken....I can't get it as spicy as I'd like because I share with the wife and let's face it she can't handle spicy.... The beef lomein is really good too! The service is excellent... They haven't messed up our order yet and the food always comes out fast and when they tell you a time, amazingly enough it comes out at that time....

Love the food and the service here. We always call our order in and go pick it up, so we haven't used their delivery service. The food is always ready exactly on time. Once, we even walked in and ordered, and our food was ready within 10 minutes. My favourite is honey chicken, but I haven't gotten it from here b/c when I asked them about it the first time I ordered from here, they said they batter it the same way they do sweet and sour chicken and then pour the honey sauce over it. I hate honey chicken that is done that way. Anyway, I ordered the general chicken instead and asked for it mild and they were more than happy to prepare it that way for me (I just can't do spicy). It is some of the best general chicken I've ever had. Nice, thick pieces of chicken with a great flavour. The general chicken is what we order every time. The beef lomein is also very good and the hubby loves the egg rolls. The fried rice has a very plain taste which is the only complaint I really have and it's not really a complaint. It's ok, but I've definitely had better. The lady who works the counter and answers the phone is always smiling and so nice. I'd also like to mention that the time we walked in and placed our order it was only 5 minutes before their posted closing time. I really hate doing that to businesses, but we were out much later than we had planned and hadn't had dinner. The lady at the counter (I'm going to have to get her name one of these days) was so sweet. I apologized profusely for walking in at the last minute.... she smiled, let me know it was no problem at all, and said they were happy for our business. Outstanding customer service!

New Dragon has been our delivery Chinese food since they opened a couple years ago. The food is good, the delivery is quick and so far, everything has been just like we ordered. I do not know how they keep the food so hot, but it comes steamy. My husband gets the Hunan Beef (hot & spicy) and me and the kids usually get the Sweet & Sour chicken or pork. I do not like their house fried rice as much as Chan's so, I don't get that here. Their egg rolls are very good. This is not a "sit down" restaurant it is delivery & take-out only.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
