I have been to the Beach Haus about a dozen times since December 2013. I drive 50 minutes each way from Tampa. It is a very nice and interesting place. There are number of delicious German dishes, as well as some American fare (very good hamburgers and Mac-and-Cheese, for example). They have a number of salads, and other sandwiches besides hamburgers. In the German fare, there a number of entrees available. I especially like the Wiener Schnitzel and Traditional Beer Goulash with Spätzle. They are both the best of those dishes I have ever tasted. The warm German potato salad is wonderful. The desserts are delicious. The owners and employees are all very nice, friendly, and welcoming. They all try their best to make the customers' visits there very enjoyable. The main restaurant is very attractive and cheery. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings very popular local piano player / singer Wally Jay performs. Wally is extremely talented, and plays many types of songs: jazz, "The Great American Songbook", Blues, 1950's/60's Rock'n'Roll, 1970's to 1990's Rock and Rock Ballads, Country, etc. The restaurant and rooftop patio bar have a gorgeous view of beautiful Boca Ciega Bay. On weekends, various musical acts appear on the rooftop. These acts include some of the area's favorite singer/songwriter/guitarists. The location is the very best in Gulfport, right across the street from The Gulfport Casino and scenic Boca Ciega Bay. All in all, The Beach Haus is an excellent place for food and music.

86 this place!!! Fake German restaurant how do you claim your a German restaurant when you serve no German beer??? Service horrible ordered goulash thought it was a meal was served a thimble full waiter said they 86'd the goulash at 7pm Called waiter a jackass said I feel like leaving he picked up our meals and made us pay for our drinks was mad because we called a different waitress over after he ignored us. I've been living in Gulfport for more than 3 years now and this is the third business that has occupied this building since I've lived here. I really want someone to succeed in this space, as it is a fantastic space. I had heard good (not great, but good) things about the Beach Haus and decided to try it after a day of kayaking, to enjoy the evening with some food and drinks from the rooftop bar. The beer selection was disappointing, especially given the craft beer Renaissance that is occurring in the Tampa Bay area right now (after inquiring, I was told "we don't have anything fancy"). That's fine, and I get it, but but with a large demographic willing to shell out 5-10 dollars for a craft beer, they are missing out on a huge opportunity. Though Gulfport does have it's own microbrewery (at Peg's), we do not have anything that approaches a tap house. With the Ale and the Witch, World of Beer, the Flying Pig, and perhaps a few other tap houses in nearby St. Pete doing incredible business, it seems like a missed opportunity for such an ideal location. But, I digress... We had a pretzel and a couple of sandwiches. The pretzel was good, but the beer cheese sauce was a little strange, with a grainy texture. Might need to go back to the drawing board on that one. My fish tacos were exactly what I wanted. Not spectacular, but solid and I would probably order them again. My companion's sandwich - the Grilled Tyrolean - was very good. However, it was supposed to come on a pretzel roll but was clearly just on a kaiser roll. Might have been spectacular on a pretzel roll. The rooftop was a little rowdy for what we were expecting on a Sunday night, but I'm not going to fault a place for having a good time. I will definitely return and give a more thorough try of the menu. I wish them luck.

Pulled up on a whim to grab some food and wow, were we surprised. The dilapidated outside can fool you, but take a step on in because the food is worth it. Wesley was our server and he steered us in the right direction. I had the schnitzel sandwich and the wifey had lobster quesadillas. Both were amazing but the icing on the cake was the crab cake bites. They are a must! So grab a seat on the roof top and enjoy the view!

I was at the Beach Haus with a group I met on meetup. There were some challenges for our meeting, but the restaurant was good. I liked the mason style glasses that my iced tea came in because they were a little different than what I see everywhere else. Our server was great. She didn't hover over us, but she was around to check on us for refills and fill orders through out out meeting. This was a splurge meal for me. I liked the fried Mac&Cheese but I loved the schnitzel burger. It was a German themed Americanized menu. If I was by myself I would have sat upstairs at the neck bar and gotten some sun.

Horrible service, not even busy. Forgot part of order. Didn't seem to care how unorganized they were or how long we waited. Food was ok. Wouldn't return.

This was my first time in the fabulous location ~ I am not quite sure what I expected but amazing location ~ one would think amazing food ~ well....not so much ~ we had a very nice but not knowledgeable waitress ~ she was totally unfamiliar with the menu and the german cuisine ~ she was new 2 weeks as a matter of fact ~ we waited over an hour for our food ~ out appetizer was cheese fondue which was chunky, and not looking very delish to the eye ~ and the hot dog thingys were just that hot dogs ~ I ordered the schnitzel burger and fries it was my idea of a fried pork tenderloin and my fries were soggy;, limp and tasted like grease~ my husband ordered the sausage platter debreziner and weisswurst and it came with fries ~ it was horrible ~ the one brat looking sausage was cold in the center ~ and his fries did not look anything like mine ~ not cooked enough ~ I love downtown Gulfport and really would like to see this location find a tenant and stay, but I agree with one of the other reviews ~ forget the food ~ or find a new cook ~

Great place! Perfect atmosphere, great food and friendly service. I don't really prefer German food and there are plenty of other options, the burgers are really good. Have had a lot of fun here. The view of the water from the rooftop is awesome !

We ate the fish tacos, mini bran cakes, and lobster quesadilla, and everything was really good. Atmosphere outside was "sports bar" style, with a descent view of Tampa bay. We were very happy overall.

I'm not sure what to say about this place. Beach Haus should overwhelm me with amazing German options. It didn't. It was empty during a Friday afternoon lunch and I see why. Options for lunch were ok but where's the German dishes, pretzels, beer, simple lunch dishes that will sell? The waitress recommended the tuna sashimi ?!? are you seafood or German. I love German food but was so turned off that I ordered the caprese salad and called it a day. Salad was good, fresh cheese but nothing spectacular. The view was my favorite and of course enjoying time with a friend but I'll probably skip this place next time I'm in Gulfport. This place would be killer if the menu was German only. And they did it well.

Waited 15 minutes and still didn't even have a menu, one server walked past and snatched the container of sugars from the table without saying anything and that's about all the attention we got. They're probably understaffed, but that's ridiculous to be ignored for that long and not waiting around to order.

Great spot that is dog friendly with live music. German beer cheese pretzel - knock worst, brats, and great burgers! Best view of Boca Ciega bay in all St Pete! Lots of great shopping and bars close by!

Management changed, they don't even serve German food anymore, just seafood like every other bay restaurant. Don't waste your time, find some place else.

One of the worst experiences, start to finish, that I've ever had. Would have asked for a manager but they clearly do not care how this is run anymore by the reviews. We started out trying to eat upstairs since it was not too hot outside. The band that was setting up was so loud that I finally understand the expression "couldn't hear my own thoughts." The waitress couldn't even hear our order. And the music itself was abrasive and not great for a dinner atmosphere. (We have eaten up there many times with music with no problem) We requested to move downstairs, where no one was available to seat us even thought it said "please wait to be seated." The dining room was completely empty despite it being 6pm on a Thursday (the upstairs was also empty). We placed our order for two "best wursts" fries and onion rings each and waited. And waited. And waited. We know this place has horrible service, we've been here many times, but this was beyond ridiculous. We were the only 2 people in there and we waited over 30min for hot dogs and French fries. No one came to refill drinks, we had to ask and the other server seemed actually annoyed when we did do And somehow, a family came in 10min after us and was served well before us When we were finally served, the order wasn't even correct and none of the condiments (or my requested water) were on the table and we had to wait until they found the mustard that "had disappeared." Even though service has always been a problem, we've put up with it for the view and the decent food. Until tonight. I asked for ranch for my fries and was given, what can only be described as "ranch water soup." It was disgusting. So I asked for something different. And was brought another ranch water soup from the chef's "new batch." Finally was given a remoulade.sauce that was so poorly made all you could taste was the overabundance of dry spices and cayenne, and had to be mixed mayo to be palatable. As far as the "best wurst," it should be called the "best of the worst" the debrizer lacked its usual bold flavor and the texture of the bratwurst was offputting, at best. The bun was stale, even toasting didn't disguise it and the sauerkraut was tasteless. The entire experience took almost an hour and half. And would have cost $30 if not for our Groupon (which server did not know about before the check). For glorified hot dogs and French fries. For thatb we could have had something homemade and delicious from Pias or Omaddys. Truly disappointed. Won't be back and will be steering everyone towards all the amazing restaurants this town has to offer. Oh and never try the beer cheese. It comes out as a greasy congealed blob. Come to my house instead, I make great beer cheese.

This place used to be so good and always full of people. Very good German food! Well, now they're phasing out the German food and are becoming just another seafood restaurant. The food that they did have, was less than mediocre. The cucumber salad had no taste. The place was completely empty. The upstairs with the nice view was ruined for us because there was a very loud TV showing football so the ambience was like being in a loud sportsbar. I was so disappointed my fave German restaurant has disappeared. Needless to say, won't be going back there...

Just be prepared for sub-par wait service and bad live music on the roof top. The band was so loud that I had to cover my ears while eating dinner. Food was delish and nice bar selection. Probably won't be back.

I wanted to be wowed. However the view from the upstairs area is the only wow. I ordered the fish tacos. They were the most bland - no flavor fish tacos I have ever had. I added ground pepper and Tabasco - it helped a bit - but with no base flavor cooked in- mildly edible! On a happy note they are reasonably priced. Go for a drink or two. Go for the view Don't expect much when it comes to food.

I was walking around downtown Gulfport and happened upon this place. They have an amazing tiki bar downstairs. I had my dog with me and the bartender offered me a cocktail for my puppy. It was a called a dirty muttini. It was a cup filled up with beef broth, my dog loved it. After visiting the tiki bar we went upstairs and ordered dinner. I ordered the sesame tuna, it was great. The view was outstanding. It overlooks the historic Gulfport casino and the water. Staff was super friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back.

Excellent view from the outdoor balcony, unfortunately that's where the good things to say end. The margaritas we ordered were sickly sweet, the "imported German pretzel" was tough and rubbery, likely straight from the microwave. The hot cheese that came with the pretzel was greasy and quickly solidified. Our lunch looked good but left us disappointed. The burger fell apart in the bun and was very under cooked. The beef tacos barely had anything on it, definitely not worth $10. Overall would be a decent spot to drink a beer and enjoy the view, but can't recommend the food or any other beverages.

Love this place! Me and my friends come here on Sunday's for the mimosas. Josh the bartender is one of the main reasons we come here. He's so attentive and friendly. He always takes the best care of us and we love him!!

Open till midnight, but they begin closing after it slows down, which is 10pm in GulfPort. Eclectic menu and decor with average German faire and ambiance

After seeing this place a number of times, my wife and I decided to try it out (we had a living social coupon too). After reading the reviews, my expectations were very low. This place is often pretty empty and that's usually a good sign that the food isn't good. When we walked in a guy sitting on the bench next to the door hopped up and said we can sit anywhere we'd like. Since it was unclear, I asked if he worked there. He responded that no, he was the manager, also he was watching the bar for the bar tender...? We asked if they had the football games on, they said they'd put it on, but they don't have Sunday Ticket. No sweat, I'll eat fast and catch the game elsewhere. We were one of two tables at prime lunch time- about 12:30. The service was fine. We ordered the potato pancakes, the knockwurst with hot German potato salad, and the schnitzel burger with fries. I wanted to try the fries since the reviews said they were bad, I was wondering how bad they could be, also I love fries. I also didn't warn my wife that some reviews said the sausage was not cooked through. The potato pancakes were a little on the expensive side- $7 for what tasted like 3 pierogi wrappers. They were tasty though they had what we suspected was a little caraway and possibly fennel seed, topped with the lingonberry sauce and sour cream they tasted awesome. The knockwurst with caramelized onions was great. My wife really liked the bun, it was buttery and toasted very well. The sweetness of the onions complemented the savory spicy flavor of the knockwurst (which was cooked all the way through). I was unfamiliar with German potato salad- but this was good. It had potato, bacon, some onion bits, vinegar and we think there was some pickling type spices. It was tasty. The schnitzel burger was as described in the other review. I think they forgot my mustard sauce. It was two pieces of pork fried crispy topped with american cheese, tomato, lettuce and onion. The roll was soft, the pork was crispy, the veggies were all fresh tasting. The fries were perfectly cooked (glad I didn't skip them!) We'd likely come back here for the German food. Perhaps they've made some changes to the menu, and the processes since the last review three months ago. If I show up again, I hope I don't put the manager out too much- we didn't mean to interrupt his bench-sitting-time.

Went there a few times. First couple of times was more for a drink and the view. The place is dog friendly, so it was nice to be able to take my doggies to the outside upstairs area. The beer selection is pretty small, but the deals on those are pretty good. Trivia night on Tuesdays. Like I said, the view is great! You get to see the street and the water. My husband and I watched manatees and dolphins splash around at sunset. Now the food. Came there on Sunday and since the upstairs was crowded and hot, I went downstairs indoors. The decor seems a bit outdated. My husband and I both ordered their schnitzel. It was "Schnitzel Sunday", so only $10 each. I chose European. We both were pretty disappointed. Our food tasted like it came out of the oil that hasn't been changes in a while. It had that bitter taste. My cucumber salad tasted like it was prepared a while ago as well. Not crunchy at all. No gluten- free options.

Excited to see this great corner location open. The unfortunate part is they should do everyone a favor and keep the bar open and stop with the food. Out of 9 of us not one order was palatable. Cold seafood buckets, uncooked German sausages, ice cold hard fries etc.... Just shut it down or get a real kitchen manager and get it rockin!

I stopped in here earlier today. Went upstairs because the football game was on and I could hear it on the speakers. Great view of the bay! What really impressed me is they did not have the kind of beer I drink. So? Well, Moe (the beautiful young lady I met) said we will order some for you and have it in the cooler for next visit!!!! woOT! This will be my daily hangout if they come through with my beer. I know the competition is all around but I really liked the feel of this place, along with the upstairs view! I'll review again after I eat there too. I am Polish but like German food as well since there are similar dishes. Thanks for being so darn friendly today Moe!!!!!!!!!!! ******UPDATE 12/19/2013***** They have my favorite beer stocked:) Also, met another employee that is super friendly, Stephanie!!! These ladies (Moe and Stepanie) actually talk to you and exchange conversation. I am not trying to knock Omaddy's but I dare anyone to go there and have a bartender exchange conversation other than, "What will you have"! Even when they are not busy. It is just a different feel over there. Beach Haus makes you feel special. Well they have for me 2 out of 2 times. Let's see how long they can keep this "Special/warm" service up???

Beware! The view great; the food terrible. The food is not fresh. The music is always the same, the drinks are mediocre and the restaurant is dirty. Have had many friends stop there; all bad reviews. The employees are not personable and very unprofessional. This restaurant looks like it's about to fall down. It's time they change their music venue too. Always the same....worse staff ever.

Had brunch/lunch here on a Sunday morning. They do not offer a brunch menu here. The drinks are pretty standard. Just domestic beers, as well as, your typical full bar menu items such as, shots and cocktail mixes. Although, if you ask, they will let you know that they have unlimited mimosas for $8 with the purchase of an entrée though. I took advantage of that deal :) For the entrée, I had the shrimp and avocado salad. It was very delicious and came with the house dressing (A slightly sweeter version of a balsamic vinegarette). There were only a few customers at the time that we went. Therefore, the friendly wait staff didn't have any problems meeting our needs in a timely matter. We ended up sitting on the upper level where we had a very beautiful view of the water/sailboats/Seascape. Nice way to begin the day!
