I felt bad coming into this place because it was New Year's Eve and thirty minutes before closing time but my husband insisted it was fine. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who said "we're closing soon so we need to get you seated" (I was so embarrassed & anticipated that the food would not be good). I could tell she was slightly annoyed but she was being so polite. We order an onion ring appetizer and burgers w/fries for entrées. The onion rings were good, the burgers were very good but the french fries were AWFUL (obviously frozen and undercooked a bit). Needless to say, I still left a hefty tip because the service was great although we inconvenienced her a bit (& so had others who were actually still they after we left...LOL). I will return but I substitute the fries with onion rings.

Every time I go in the staff is friendly and always joking and having fun! The food is great and the atmosphere is just what I like when I eat out! I highly recommend the Ranch Grill

Stopped here for a quick dinner after a school concert the other night. It was a Thursday and apparently that is their "ladies drink free" night. So needless to say it was really loud in there. We were seated right away and Brooke was our server. He took our drink order and we looked over the menu. They have A LOT of choices, which in my opinion is not always a good thing. To me it means that not many things are fresh or made to order. Anyway, we skipped the apps and went straight for the entrees, I ordered the veggie flat bread (hold the black olives YUCK olives shouldn't taste like a tin can) and our DD had a cheese burger, and hubby had a fried chicken breast sandwich. Brooke brought a basket of bread, kind of like a focaccia and thankfully it was overloaded with rosemary. It was good. When dinner arrived I was happy to see how much veg was piled on my flatbreads. The were WONDERFUL! Lots of veggies, crisp flat bread and tons of flavor. Our daughters burger came out Med (the way we ordered it) which was a wonderful surprise because it's hard to get a properly cooked burger these days! It was juicy and came with all the trimmings and crispy FFs. Hubby's fried chicken breast was over cooked and dry, we would've sent it back but it was late and he was starving. Our server Brooke was wonderful, he checking in on us a few times and quick with the refills. And when he knoticed hubby had "picked" apart his sandwich he asked if there was a problem. Hubby explained and Brooke took the sandwich off the bill. We will come back for sure but will be VERY selective about what we order. I can't imagine all 50+ entrees are done really well here, they offer everything from steaks to seafood to burgers and flatbreads. There is a shortage of good restaurants in this area so I hope they half their menu and concentrate on doing a handful of entrees REALLY well.

Really bad food. I have tried this place 3 times.... really trying to give it a shot. #1 they are super slow! #2 the homemade chips are greesy and burnt. #3 the food is just less than average. #4 drinks are watered down. #5 bad deal for the quality of food and service. I like to be able to eat my lettuce if you put it on my burger. Yeah, it's like just for show... A huge stalk. I've tried 3 different things and all just not that good!

Sunday's brunch buffet was excellent. Including the service. I would recommend it to anyone that wants quality food and service.

Good local restaurant. The ranch grill lasted a lot longer than most expected and that's probably due to their proactive monitoring of menu items, adding days like Wednesday Kids Eat Free and even their own "ranch amber" beer served on tap. The food is good, but the Floribbean salad with blackened chicken is outstanding. My kids love to go Wednesday's so it's typically a regular thing for us. The ranch Amber beer is good too and only $2.50 a pint!

I would like to say, our server was extremely quick in the beginning but slowed down quite a bit towards the end of our meal. Even still, we were hanging out chatting so not a big deal! I had the Juicy Lucy and sweet potato fries and it was fantastic!!! My friend had a black and blue burger which she said was really good as well and her husband had french onion soup that was great. Overall, a great first time experience and will be returning for sure!!!

We come here often for a quick bite or a drink. It is a decent joint with decent food. While I cannot honestly remark about any one meal, they are all decent. Come here and have a beer and a quick bite. If you are looking for super good food then try somewhere else.

The wife and I came in for a nice dinner. We were not disappointed. My wife had a flat iron steak which was prepared to perfection. I had the blackened salmon and just like the flat iron, it was outstanding. What really impressed me was Chef Victor was walking around the restaurant checking on the meals. Service was fantastic. Can't wait to return

Mixed reviews. I gave it 4 stars because the food and service are, really improving. The used to be really slow, service and boring food. Much better now the management is working hard to please the customers. I hope this continues I'll be back

Absolutely love the Ranch. Super fast service and fun staff. Love Lindsay the bar tender. The food is so delicious. I love love love the chicken wings. This is a great place to spend times with friends. Lots of cold beer and TV's galore. If you want a fun night the Ranch is the place!!

Not impressed. Came in the door on the parking lot side facing SR70 and we're promptly told we had come in the wrong door. Waiter then almost stood over us watching us eat. We won't be back.

We love The Ranch Grill! I have not sampled everything on the menu but I particularly love their salads....always fresh and portioned well. We enjoy sitting at the bar for meals however there is also a dining room, an outdoor patio, and a nice sized room that is perfect for private parties and events.

Save yourself a visit to this place. This was our third visit to the "Grill" and although our previous trips were less than remarkable we wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, we were disappointed yet again. The manager did not even acknowledge our presence when we walked in. The waitress did not know what the drink special was. Refills were few and far between. The food took forever to come out and when it did, my sons cheeseburger came out without cheese or any other fixings. One of our guests got fries with his meal instead of the baked potato he requested. My wife's chicken was undercooked, something she didn't discover until after a few bites. When the check came, we noticed that we were charged for our kids' meals when in fact kids eat free on Wednesdays. The only redeeming qualities of our visit - good stir fry and a tasty salmon dish - could not overcome the bad. In the end, we gave our server a 20% tip since she was new and we blame management for her poor training and mediocre service. Bottom line...unless you enjoy slow service and bad food, stay away from this place!

I created a Yelp account solely for expressing my disappointment in this place. You get more attentive service from McDonald's staff. My food was decent but drasticly over priced. The lady friend had a Cheese Steak, half of which was onion and grease only. Maybe we'll try again in a few months but doubtful.

I'm not sure what the 1 star reviews are all about. We had a wonderful time and great food. I did not find it at all over priced. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting. Bar area and dining room was very clean! Live Friday night entertainment (Blue Mason Barter) was awesome! I had the grilled snapper, with sautéed squash and a baked sweet potato. The fish was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The Floribean Salad (mixed greens, blue cheese, pecans, sliced strawberries and a yummy vinegarette) was delicious! Our waiter was friendly and helpful, but not overbearing. Service could have been a bit faster, but the food was worth the wait (30 min) We will be back!

Horrible, horrible food. How can a place ruin a club sandwich but when the ingredients are old, soggy and lack 3 of the 5 listed foods to be included, one has to wonder. Biggest basketball game in March Madness series thus far and we had to ask for the UF game to be shown. This is a sports bar in Florida? Husband ordered fish and chips but when he got Mrs. Paul's fish-sticks, that was the clincher, first time here and NEVER going back.

We just had a great lunch here! Half Reuben sandwich for me with chili for $7.99 and a full Reuben for my hubby, which was huge! They cater and I heard they own the ice cream shop next door too. The place was very clean, great place to watch sports on lots of huge tv's all over the place. We will be back.

It's hit or miss. Last time was so-so. My dish was so bland and it was $15! Nothing special. One time my chicken was raw, thankfully I saw it before I bit into it. Service is a bit slow & they don't see that your drinks are empty. You have to track down a server. Recent visit saw 5 staff/servers all gathered around by the kitchen giggling and hanging out while many tables were I need of stuff. Last time I ordered a water & another drink. Never got my other drink but server charged me. I said excuse me but I never received my other drink & you charged me. They looked at me like I was the crazy one. I really wish it would get better. Not jumping up & down to go there.

The food isn't what has disappointed me after a few times of coming here. It's always actually pretty good. But the service EVERY time we visited is just terrible. We ordered spinach dip as an app and it took 20+ minutes to come out. Had to flag down the server and as she's laughing says "the cook had an issue haha he's making a new one, I told him it was fine!" Well waiting 20 minutes for one appetizer isn't fine with me. Then the food came out about 2 minutes after the appetizer and I could tell it had been in the window sitting while they re-did the appetizer. Not terrible food either way. But every time we've gone our servers are either missing or sitting around laughing as we sit with empty drinks. We were one of two tables in the restaurant every time we've gone. I'm sorry but if you're that slow and the service still sucks, there's no excuse.

Second visit here in the last month and so far this place has kept us coming back. Prime rib, brisket, and fish dishes wonderful. Food has been great, well prepared, delicious and quickly served. Drink prices were a nice surprise... low, and good selection on tap. Pre-meal bread fresh, warm and could of made a meal of that. Atmosphere very inviting and good selection of sports on TV around the bar. Nice to see TB Rays signage :O) Only complaint is both times we had to hunt down our server to pay our check, but not worth knocking the experience.

I like this place because its very convenient to our house. My main frustration is you can never tell when they close. Hours posted on here are wrong as well as Google. My wife and I went in this evening at 10:15 to have some drinks after seeing midnight as their closing time on google. Around 10:20 the bartender started taking things off the bar and we asked when they closed. She said 11pm and gave us last call at 10:40. Ive been in the restaurant business before and really understand wanting to go home but it really doesnt make one feel welcome when they start closing 45mins before they said they close. A little consistency would be great. Dont get me wrong the food is pretty good here but dont expect to be welcome if youre there less then hr before close.

I was unlucky enough to go to brunch here a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to post a review in case anyone else is considering making the same mistake. It's possibly the weakest brunch ever. There was no bread (!), no pastries, no muffins and only dark bran bagels to pick from. The miserable omelette guy said "what do you want?" as we stood before him. He couldn't make egg white omelettes. The ones he did make were teeny tiny. Mine had 4 slices of mushroom in it. I counted. We were there half an hour after it opened and the home fries were not ready yet. The fruit consisted of a bowl of watermelon and a bowl of what looked like canned fruit. And next to the fruit were two random huge cakes. Kids were charged $2.50 for one glass of milk. The only bright spot was the waitress who was lovely but even her charm could not save this experience.

Been to the Ranch 3 times and always left happy. Nice atmosphere, clean, wait staff was friendly, attentive and food was good. I get the hamburger and the wife get's the Panini and both were excellent. We will be back when we're in the area.

I must say this place continues to improve. Food has greatly improved from a year ago cold beer is a plus nice bar. I would like to see the service improve its just average. I am enjoying the Ranch Grill more and more with each visit.

I'll admit when this place first opened food was ok and service was ehh. But never judge a business on opening. They needed a little time to work out the kinks and so they did. We have come here about 5-6 times in the year they have been open and we walk out happy every time. Drinks, (cosmo) is DELICIOUS. We have had wonderful service and fantastic food. Sure it's a bit pricey. But you get what you pay for. If you want a cheap meal, eat at McDonalds. If you want a great prime rib eat here. And we LOVE the entertainment that they bring in. Congrats on your 1 year!!!!

I really wanted to like this place! Unfortunately, that didn't happen. My husband, my sister and I decided to dine here to try something different. Lakewood Ranch does not have a ton of options, so I was excited and hopeful that this would be a keeper. We started with an order of the nachos....meh. They were okay. I don't even think we finished half of them. My husband and sister both ordered the french onion soup, and neither were fans. My sister said it was a bit too sweet, but I sampled it and thought it was pretty good. The salads were fine, but oh, the entrees.....they need work. My sister and I both ordered chicken dishes, marsala chicken for me and francaise chicken for her. Both dishes arrived cold. This may not even have mattered, if either of the dishes had flavor. They were simply not great. My husband had the filet, and he didn't have any complaints, but he wasn't head over heels for it either. My sister and I both barely touched our meals and politely asked for boxes. This place has potential, but until the menu is revamped, I doubt I'll be visiting again.

Terrible service :( and the menu is way overpriced. We live in LWR and have given it 3 chances and allowed time and room for improvement. No such luck!! Being so close we were so excited to have them open. However, we will never return, after our last and final disappointing visit. No stars.

Too bad. The area really needs a good restaurant here. Tried several items, none worthy of note and most just not tasty at all. Start I re again folks and start in the kitchen where it matters most.

We arrived at 8:45 pm. Party of 7. No problems. Got cocktails quickly and the server could not have been nicer. I had the fish tacos and they were quite good - 3 for around $10. Grilled mahi-mahi. Everyone loved their food. The wings were solid too. I would go back. A nice neighborhood hang-out.

My husband and I had the worst meal we have ever had yesterday at the Ranch Grill. We have been frequent customers here over the past year and are very disappointed in the quality of the meal served yesterday. My panini sandwich was soggy on the bottom the sweet potato fries were almost burned. My husband had onion rings whch were way to overbreaded and greasy. We were told they had a new cook but were not offered any compensation for the poor food after complaining to the waitress. The service was very slow. We were there in the middle of the afternoon and were the only ones in the dining room area. We have had better. Won't be going back there anytime soon.

Bad first time experience. I had the ribs $20.00 they where cold.. yes cold. My wife and her friend had the salmon. It came out raw. They sent it back and it was just OK. Buy then my ribs where really cold.. they would not even take them back.. They did give me a $10.00 gift certificate. So cold ribs cost me $10.00. The waiter was OK and did try, just not experienced. I tried my friends eggplant parm, luke warm, and just fair. Overall not good and pricey. But I always try to give LWR business a second chance

I hate to do this, but since my last review, this place has gone to hell in a hand basket. The food quality has gone from good to awful. I've had undercooked grouper, overcooked burgers and foul tasting/smelling tuna. We have also been in a few times where they have told us that there was a 15-20 minute wait to sit (even though they were half full) because the kitchen was behind on orders. A shame, because we really liked the convenience of the location, and that it was a casual, family friendly restaurant, but we won't be frequenting as often, if ever anymore.

I have visited RG three times. First time we were seated right away and had the brunch. No real issue except the profanity out of the Chef/ cooks mouth a couple of times. Second time seated but couldn't get anyone to wait on us. Took about 20 mins to get water. This past Sunday no one even knew that we walked in. Yes we were behind a large party but I went around looking for someone to help. I shouldn't have to approach someone to get recognized. There should be host/hostess there watching. So we left . Don't know if I should go back ? Decent food but if we are treated like this next time , we will not step in . Let's see what happens next week.

We've been twice so far since moving to The Ranch. I've not been disappointed. Wings are wonderful. Burgers and homemade chips were delightful. Prices are very reasonable. And service is pretty good. This will be our go to "I don't feel like cooking" place!

My wife and I have been living in Lakewood Ranch for a few months over two years now. Being in Country Club East, we soon discovered that the Ranch Grill was our nearest place to eat. we tried the place one evening, found it almost empty, but staffed with an engaging bar crew, and serving decent food, including an acceptable chili, and one acceptable beer (their Ranch Amber). That positive impression lasted until I went there one day shortly after their 11 am opening, and found the place reeking with the smell of disinfectant, which doesn't pair really well with either food or drink. One lesson learned. We continued stopping in from time to time. Over the first year, all of that engaging bar staff left. Then last year, at the end of the snowbird season, a sign appeared that the Grill would be closed on Mondays and for lunch on Tuesdays. That was it for me -- we eliminated the Grill from our mix. Who wants a neighborhood restaurant that isn't open every day? So last night after tennis, I thought since it had been almost a year, and my wife was away for a few days on business, I'd grab a bite there. It was 8:15. I walked in and noted that the bar area was completely full, both the bar seats and the high four-tops in the bar area, and a singer/guitarist was playing (IMO, too loudly for the small bar area). I headed for the men's room, and noted that the rest of the place was one-third full or less. When I came back from the men's room, one of the high-tops was vacant -- a couple was just leaving. I sat at the table, moving the dishes in front of me to the front half of the table for bussing. About ten minutes later, a waiter stopped and told me he'd clear the table in "just a second". I said, "Great. I'll have a Ranch Amber and a menu when you get a chance." He modded, and said, "OK." About twenty minutes later, having neither beer nor menu, and with the table still not cleared, I gave up and left. I won't be back. -- Larry

Not impressed! The restaurant was empty and we waited 30+ minutes for a burger, BLT and kids Mac and Cheese. The BLT bread tasted stale and was burnt. The blue burger was OK. We paid $6 for the kids Mac and Cheese, which was a box of Kraft! I will not go back.

Gabriel and I were house hunting today and found ourselves starving for lunch and in an area that didn't have many restaurants around. We turned the corner and found The Ranch Grill and figured we'd just go there and hope for the best. We were seated right away in the mostly empty restaurant (it was a pretty odd time for a meal) and before we opened our menus, I decided to check out Yelp.com for reviews. Uh oh. 1.5 stars. Not good. We were too hungry to care and decided to disregard the poor ratings since only 3 reviews had written entries. Generally speaking, unless there are 20 of more, I don't really take the ratings to heart. I figured I would just have to see for myself. The menus had a lot to offer, and after asking our friendly waiter about side salads, we were informed that we could add a side garden or caesar salad for $2 to the $8 appetizers we planned to order. Perfect. We chose the chicken quesadillas and the chicken cordon bleu bites to share and each ordered a garden salad. Everything came out quickly, and I especially liked the slope-y, lopsided bowls that the salads came in. The apps were presented in a colorful and appealing way, looking and smelling delicious. My bleu cheese dressing was noteworthy with it's large chunks of cheese, and the salad ingredients were very fresh and crisp. The chicken bites were hot and melty and although there wasn't a ton of chicken in them, the honey mustard dipping sauce added a nice flavor and coolness to the cheesy snack. The quesadillas had great texture contrasted by the creamy, cool guacamole and sour cream and we gobbled every bit up, including the diced peppers that adorned the plate. Overall, for $20 we had a great lunch and had already planned to return...This plan was reenforced when later on in the day, when I looked at their Facebook page, I just so happened to find a dealsaver.com deal for $10 for $20. What a weird coincidence...Well, better late than never. I immediately purchased the coupon so that we could return for a repeat lunch someday soon. Very satisfying indeed- and even more so for half the price!

Lousy Service and Food at the bar tonight - asked for no salt,..loaded with salt; asked for lettuce on the burger - no lettuce. Bartender never asked why we did not eat all of our meal. Had to flag the bartender down every time we wanted a re-fill or when we wanted to order. The music is too loud and conflicts with the TV's going in the bar...pick one or the other, you can't have a conversation with both! We will not be back, since every visit is worse than the last.

I stopped out here for a second time in early October and all I have to say is that I don't believe this place is going to make it. Food is still kind of bland for their higher price points and if they haven't turned the corner after a few months, it's hard to see how they will. It;s too bad, bacause the atmosphere is nice. Brick wall in the interior, nice wood for the booths. Bar area is a decent size. If you go here to drink, you will be OK, although pricey. Quite frankly, you can get many better food choices within a square mile area of true Lakewood Ranch.

We tried the Ranch Grill and while everything was OK, I can not say we will not be rushing back. $7.00 for a margarita is bit high, even if we had a coupon. The service was good and the food was alright. My concern is that for the prices they have set on the menu the food needs to be better than OK and is wasn't. Once upon a time the choices out east were so limited that you went to places that were OK because that was all you had. That is just not the case anymore. With the competition the way it is I just think there are better places to spend your money and get quality food for what you are paying.

The food has improved Immensely. Great place for great priced drinks/wine. Chicken wings are excellent and the ribs are delicious. Service still needs some work, it would help if there were more mature servers and bartenders.

My wife and I finally got around to trying the new restaurant, The Ranch Grill. It's so close to home I was praying it would not be disappointing and it wasn't. The atmosphere is classy and has the kind of lighting I like, low lighting. I wouldn't wear a t-shirt and shorts, something a little dressier. We split an order of the calamari. I was good, lightly breaded with their own special asian type sauce. We also split a portobello mushroom burger and a prime rib sandwich, both were very good. The service was excellent, not just good: very professional and everyone who checked in with us had a great personality. I accidentally dropped my fork and I had two people delivering me forks within a minute without me saying a word. Our drinks were always kept full. We will be back but next time we'll be requesting a booth instead of a table for just a little more privacy. A very good experience and I look forward to going back and trying something else on the menu, possibly the meatloaf sliders.

So this is the second time we've tried this place hoping it got better but our second time was worse. We tried it a couple months ago-service was ok, calamari app was terrible, fishy-tasting and very small, my salmon dinner was just ok and my boyfriend liked his ribs. It was honestly just mediocre and we eat out a lot. We decided to try it again and give it another chance. Worse the second time!! We were seated right away in the bar/lounge area, greeted and drinks. Good. There was a tabletent with events and bar apps for $4.99 so we decided to try the potato skins only because they were $2 off. They were ok. While we were eating we placed our dinner order-salmon for me and ribeye special for him that the hostess mentioned while seating us. Took forever to get our food. We think the server forgot to put it in but we aren't sure. She spent a lot of time standing and talking to a certain table however. Anyway, my salmon was underdone and my boyfriend got the menu ribeye not the special he ordered. The server just shrugged her shoulders and made no attempt to fix ANYTHING. I understand she was young and probably inexperienced but they need to train their staff to fix customer issues. Then our bill had the app at full price. When we mentioned it to her she said we had to specify the tabletent app when ordering. Are you kidding?? My boyfriend and I have worked in food/beverage for years and were astounded with how bad the service was. Food was not that great but if they fixed things it could've been better but no attempt was made or offered. They really are the only restaurant for now in that immediate area but more will soon come, and there are plenty of restaurants on main st, etc that aren't that far that are WAY BETTER. I don't know how the good reviews happened-you must've been lucky. Or you're there so much they kiss your butt and ignore the rest of us. In either case we will not return and will tell others of our bad experiences. Sorry. You will never stay open with such bad service and mediocre food. Waste of money.

I was so excited when this restaurant opened as it's the only restaurant in the immediate area and Lakewood Ranch could really use some more restaurants. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. My fiance and I ordered take out for lunch, I ordered the blackened mahi sandwich, it was okay, slightly over cooked, but not awful. It was supposed to come with coleslaw, which they did not include. The sweet potato fries were terrible! I am completely convinced they were left over from the day before because they were just rubbery and old tasting, not edible at all. He ordered the oak grilled chicken sandwich. We asked to get it "buffalo style," we were charged extra for this, however they apparently forgot to do it. The chicken was over cooked and the french fries were the typical fries that come frozen and you stick them in the oven, although they were not cooked enough as they were mushy. This restaurant is brand new, so I can only hope that things will improve.
