The food was delicious - though prepared differently than described on the menu. However, my real issue was with the service. It really seemed like there was one waiter for the entire restaurant. He was rude, uninviting and unresponsive (the only time he seemed to have an interest in actually waiting on us was when the check was ready to be paid). The GM who I am assuming was the heavy set bald guy was just as unwelcoming. The only nice people seem to be the woman refilling the waters and the runners. Example: when the meal was over (and I would like to emphasize that the good was delicious!) our waiter, without saying a word, picked up our plates and started to bus the table. That's when I said "my meal was delicious, thank you for asking" and he looked at me as if I was crazy. As if it's totally unheard of to check on a table throughout the meal to make sure everything is going well. I'm shocked because we made a reservation at this place on the recommendation from my parents, who are difficult diners (yep, they're THOSE people) so I expected excellent service. Not the case. The waiter is lucky it was Christmas - and just for that reason alone, I left a generous tip. Next time, not so- oh wait. There won't be a next time.

Four of us went there last night for the first time. The ambience is very nice and they have outside seating also available. It was a very pleasant night, but we always prefer to sit inside any restaurant we go to. The service was very attentive, a little formal at first, but once we talked to our waiter he was very friendly. We started with two appetizers, the calamari and antipasto. The calamari was very good and the sauce very tasty with a good kick to it. The antipasto was enjoyable. I've noticed that in Italian restaurants, antipasto can be anything from a regular looking salad with cheese & cold cuts thrown on top to more of a flat plate of Italian cold cuts with a drizzle of dressing. Betto's was more like the second one. I like both styles. We each had different entrees. My husband had the fish over risotto. I had cannelloni della mi nonna, our guests had spaghetti Bolognese, and the 4th guest had a linguine alla pescatore. We were all very pleased with our choices. My husband ordered a dessert, to which the rest of us said, "No way can't eat another thing!", but when it came out, we couldn't resist and it was delicious bread pudding and vanilla ice cream with fruity swirls on the plate. It was delicious and bread pudding is not a favorite of mine. The food is flavorful, fresh, and nicely presented. I am not a fancy pants kind of girl, and while this restaurant is a more formal place with the waiters and cloth table coverings, it was still comfortable. We would definitely return to eat at Betto's again.

Bettos knocks it out of the park. Had to do a little tweaking on his famous Parpadelle and mushrooms but after getting over opening jitters the place is awesome. Just like going to the old Regazzi's and even better. We desperately needed a place just like this and now we have it. Great food at reasonable prices and suburb service.

Use to be Da Vinc's in Bay Harbor. I was very happy to see that the new owner opened up and redid the restaurant. Looks and feel great. Betto himself greets you and is a real charmer. Makes you feel warm and welcome. The food and service was very good. It seems that all the locals go here and love it. I can understand why. Go and enjoy.

Betto's is super! Betto himself is a delight - warm, effusive, welcoming with a great mix of Argentinian and Italian style. The food runs the gamut from simple and delicious to sinfully indulgent. I'm excited to have this restaurant in the neighborhood. It is the sort of place where one wants to be a regular because the people engulf you with friendliness and then serve up amazing food!

WORST SERVICE EVER! We had a sever named Dekmak... Wow! What an attitude! Not helpful at all... Never came to check on us... Got our orders mixed up... Terrible terrible service. The food was mediocre. Nothing to cry home about. I ordered the homemade ravioli stuffed with fontina cheese, white sauce and asparagus. When it arrived at the table... It came with red sauce.... And when I told the server that it was wrong because the menu said white sauce... She caught an attitude with me so I grabbed a menu to show her how the recipe was described on the menu... And then she had the audacity to start talking to me in Spanish (assuming I speak Spanish - I guess based on how Iook.... Um racism?!!!)... She proceeded to call me "mi amor... So you want white sauce?" Ummmmmm no... A. I'm not your "amor" and B. The meal said it came with white sauce... Hence why I ordered it. So ya... I'd like to get what I ordered. Thanks. When the ravioli finally came out with white sauce... They forgot the asparagus!!! What the?!! At that point I was to hungry to send it back... So I ate it just like that. Anyways... More orders came out wrong... And from a party of 8, NO ONE had anything nice to say about our server, Dekmak.. Who was extremely rude to everyone at our table. DO NOT COME HERE! NOT WORTH YOUR TIME, ENERGY OR MONEY.

I liked it a lot, my husband less so 3 stars to be fair. Authentic italian restaurant with delicious authentic italian dishes. They serve a good warm and crispy bread along with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Perfect start. Then I had the lasagna, homemade, grand mother recipe and it was delicious. One of the best lasagna I've ever had. Very meaty, it was perfect. My husband got the veal parmigiana (served with garlic potatoes and broccoli). It was big and very cheesy. We actually shared half and half so we could both enjoy each other's dishes. The decor and atmosphere is what brings the review down. Cold and not welcoming. But the food is good and the service is polite.

Mediocre at best. Only thing interesting was the (drunk) belligerent waiter. Never again.

Maybe Betto has learned from the reviews that complained about poor service because our service was excellent--except for one BIG mistake--he forgot to tell us early on that a soufflé is on the dessert menu. He did tell us when we were ordering dessert but by that time who is going to order a dessert that takes 20 minutes to cook?...even though it is my favorite dessert and hours later I am still thinking about what was probably going to be the most light, fluffy, warm, gooey and delicious soufflé I've ever had. The lasagna was just okay. I expected more after reading some of the reviews. BUT, the seafood risotto was phenomenal...a must try.

I've only been to Betto's once. It's fairly new to Bay Harbor. My husband and I had been to Café Da Vinci, that used to be at that location. We read the Yelp reviews about Betto's and decided to give it a try. The best thing about our experience there was the service. Our server was so friendly and helpful. When I told him I was on Weight Watchers he said I could get whole wheat pasta and the chef could cut the amount of cream used in the sauces. He was there whenever we needed anything, and he kept our water glasses filled, and our table free of dirty dishes or crumbs. The bread in the bread basket was very good. It was squares of crusty Italian bread. I couldn't resist a few pieces in spite of trying to lose weight. My husband ordered the lasagna. He said it was delicious, although I think he would have liked a larger serving. I had spaghetti al pesto. I opted for the regular pasta but asked for the amount of cream in the sauce to be reduced. It tasted great, but there was a lot of oil in the dish. When I was almost finished eating the spaghetti I noticed that a small pool of oil had gathered on the bottom of the dish. The restaurant was attractive and there was inside and outside seating.

Service was really good, both waiters were very kind. The pasta was really tasteless , I think they mixed fresh asparagus with dried tomatoes and that was it. I will never go back, worst spent $ 40,00 of my life in a restaurant

Food was mediocre, I could have easily prepared a better Alfredo and bolognese at home. We sat for over 45 min before receiving our first course and it was nearly two hours by the time we got our entrees. Overpriced and bad service. Skip this one, you can easily find exponentially better Italian in this area.

We had dinner this evening. The food is ok. However service was terrible. The waiter asked us to order fast so we can get our food rapidly. I think they wanted to turn the table. Also, I asked for ice tea, when the waiter brought to the table I asked for Splenda and he said it s already sweetened. The tea had no sugar, waiter was just lazy to bring it to us. The water lady had a very heavy perfume that disturbed our dinner. We had to ask for the check 3 times. There is a lot of Italian restaurants competition in this area. We wanted to try a new place but we won't be going there again.

This used to be Da Vinci's. After Da Vinci's closed, a friend of our's let us know that it had reopened as Betto's and so we decided to give it a try. The food and service is very, very good. I was happy to see that the old owner, a friend of ours, had taken on a new partner, remodeled, and the place is now an outstanding restaurant. Make sure you call for reservations as it tends to get very busy.

We had dinner here this past weekend and it was wonderful. The staff was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was terrific especially the veal saltimbocca , veal piccata, and pasta e fagioli. The restaurant has recently been remodeled and it looks fabulous. We definitely plan on returning.

Betto's no longer offers the service of Betto, so to get the same service and great food you go down the street to Emilio's. The food isn't the same either...no longer recommend...

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
