Went there for Sunday brunch today. Building is charming and unique - even fun! It a little dressy, but my husband wore a t-shirt and shorts and I wore a maxi dress... others were dressed similar but when we go again I'll step up my game a little. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The food was AMAZING!!!! Just, totally well prepared, seasoned and presented. The bisque is like velvet with great flavor. My burrata salad was light but flavorful. I also had the seafood stuffed crepes - probably one of my favorite meals ever. Will absolutely return!

I cannot not give this place five stars, based on my lunch entree: roasted free-range chicken. Plenty on the menu looked delicious, so it was rather on a whim that I decided to order the chicken. It came beautifully plated, paired with haricot verts, gnocchi, and a delicious mushroom reduction. Every flavor was distinct and complimentary, textures were perfect. The gnocchi was some of the best gnocchi I've had, inclusive of some very good Italian restaurants. The pieces were big, super soft, and wonderfully cooked with ratatouille. The mushroom sauce was amazing. The chicken meat was tender and juicy, the skin crispy and bursting with salty peppery flavorful goodness. A sizable portion in additional to all of the sides included, but it was so good that I finished everything down to the bone. I don't think I've had chicken in NYC or anywhere else as tasty, that isn't straight-up fried. The only thing was that the seltzer water tasted weird. Like, undrinkable. Not sure what the deal was there, but certainly did not impact my extreme enjoyment of the food. I would also skip the dessert here. The Meyer lemon chiffon, while good, did not have the satisfying sharp tartness I was expecting. I also wasn't really expecting a cake-like creation, which was probably my lack of understanding. Still, that roast chicken. If I wasn't here on a business lunch, I might have licked the plate. Doubtful I will find myself back in this area anytime soon, but if I do, I may start salivating with a three-mile radius. Also, portraits of cats (and some dogs) everywhere. What.

If there was option of no stars, I would have went with that. Spent a weekend in Montchanin for a bachelorette party. We started off the weekend with a nice dinner at Krazy Kats... or so we thought. I've been here before and really enjoyed it, so I didn't have any second thoughts about making a reservation. The night started off great. Server was decent, food was great and company was even better. The night began to turn sour when the bill came. Long story short, we asked the server to put equal amounts on two cards and the rest in cash. There was $100 dollars in cash. She didn't come back with the change and asked if we wanted it "broken down." Our friend who paid with cash didn't understand with that meant, so she said no but quickly corrected herself and asked for the change. Obviously the server didn't have it with her and expected the remaining cash to be her tip. Well, she came back and was $10 short claiming that we only have her $80. Well here's the thing, the change was supposed to be $55 and she came back with $45. So if she had $80 instead of $100, it would be $35 back not $45. She continually argued and said no she put $35 in there. As she recounted, she said "oh, I messed up," and took back $10.. (What?!). Needless to say, we went to the front desk to talk to the manager. I've been at my share of restaurants and worked at a restaurant for 6 years in high school through college and I have never met a person so arrogant and childlike. I spoke to him for about 2 minutes after my friend and while I was explaining the situation he asked what I wanted him to do about it. How unprofessional. I didn't want anything out of it, I just wanted him to understand that his server has major incompetencies. Anyway, I continued and he kept cutting me off saying "uh huh" and "yeah" in a very smart-ass tone. I lost my temper and hung up. If you want great food and terrible service. You've found your place. Oh by the way, the server's name is Laura and the manager's name is Ian.

So I have written well over a 100 reviews on yelp and somehow have been designated yelp elite for 2014 and 2015 but it is to this restaurant, krazy kats, that I give my heart. Krazy Kats is my favorite restaurant and my go to for celebrating a birthday, a promotion, or valentine's day. I should premise this with I love cats so the chic and whimsical cat decor is not lost on me - -- but moreover the food is grand and the service excellent. I have been to Krazy Kats for breakfast lunch and dinner and it never disappoints.

This place must be out of business! I tried 4 different ways to contact this establishment: (their web site Reservations directs to OpenTable.com ) 1) OpenTable wouldn't take our reservation for 8; 2) telephone--not answered, no voicemail; 3) their web site contact form only produced an error: CGI was not found on the server; and finally 4) a direct email was never responded to.

BE CAREFUL about paying with CASH! Make sure to count your cash and put the amount on the bill so there are no errors! I'm sad to give this two stars - food was really good but the waitress and manager not so much! The waitress was fine during dinner, took her 20 minutes to take our order but we have no complaints/compliments to say about her at first. She wasn't too attentive to our table but we were in good company so we didn't really care. Our check was $229, after adding the tip & dividing by 3 people, it was $92pp. Two people paid with card and one put in $100 cash (5-20s). We told the waitress to put $92 on the 2 credit cards. She came back and said "do you want me to break it down?" (Meaning breaking down the cash) My friend didn't understand and quickly said no and waitress walked away. So I said, do you want your change? She goes oh yea, I'm over tipping. So we called the waitress back and asked for all the change back. She came back with $45 - should have been $55. So we called her back, she said, no we only gave her 4 20s. So we said if we only gave you $80 then the change should be $35 not $45. She left and came back showing $45 in her hand. I said well either you took an extra $10 from the restaurant or gave us an extra $10. So she said, oh then I gave you too much and took back $10 from my hand. But my 2 friends who saw the money being out in said, we're positive we saw $100 put in. Without knowing who was right and wrong, why would she just take back $10 from me?! Anyway we went back to front desk at the inn and asked for the restaurant manager. Front desk called manager and manager said he will call back. When he called back, he seemed very disinterested in my story and said, she's worked here for 8 years and is my best server, what do you want me to do about it? He started getting rude and agitated with me. I told him I just wanted to tell him the story and from my many experiences at restaurants, the waiter always give back the change and not keep it or even ask, "do you want change?" Its customary to give back the change unless the customer said keep the change first. Manager definitely doesn't care about customer service! Honestly I didn't count the money myself so I can't say who's right or wrong. But the waitress said we only gave her $80, yet she gave us $45 and had $45 left over- doesn't add up. She shows us right there that she made a mistake. I'm guessing the manager rather pretends to not see her mistake than care about his paying customers!

Avoid Krazy Kats at all cost. We went on the recommendation of someone who used to work at Krazy Kats. Our party of 8 arrived at 11:30 and was asked if we had reservations. Unfortunately, we didn't and it seemed like we wouldn't be seated. We all took this as a promising sign of a great and popular restaurant! We waited with our fingers crossed and after ten minutes we were told we wouldn't be able to be sit together. No problem, because after all, we didn't have a reservation for Saturday brunch at this popular restaurant. However, as we were led through the dining room to our tables, it became clear all of this fuss was in vain. Only a quarter of the restaurant was full. The two tables where we were seated, were side by side. When we inquired why the tables couldn't be pushed together, we were told there wouldn't be enough room. So, our group of 8 pushed the two tables together and what do you know, there was plenty of room. The menu looked fantastic - a nice variety of dishes reasonably priced. The Two Egg Breakfast had duck bacon for a $3 substitute charge which everyone seemed eager to try. While waiting another ten minutes for water, we had plenty of time to review the menu. After another ten minutes, we asked if there was bread or anything to munch on. We were told muffins would be right out. About 25 minutes later, the muffins came out (delicious!!!) along with out entrees. I had the Crab Imperial Melt. Others had the Crab Bisque, French Toast and Two Egg Breakfast. Everyone seemed to love their dishes. I wasn't a fan of mine - the egg muffin the crab meat was served on was soggy with tomato slices and crab. It tasted like crab mush beneath congealed cheese. It was served with potato chips that everyone who tried them, absolutely loved. We checked our bank statement later that afternoon only to see two pending charges from Krazy Kats. One charge for the correct amount and the second charge for $54.00. We called the restaurant immediately for help understanding this charge and was told by Ian, the manager, it was a verification charge "to see if the account had the money". It would be removed within four days, by Wednesday. What?!!? It's only been three days so no update on this yet but that is the first time I've ever heard of, or experienced a $54.00 verification charge "to see if our account had the money." All in all, the food was fine. But the service tanked our dining experience - long waits, dismissive attitudes by staff. We all left wishing we had just gone to IHOP as was the original plan.

I have been eating here since I was a child. (I'm 23 now) I can't say enough good things about this place. Truly a fantastic place. From the decor to the helpful & friendly staff. I am never disappointed leaving here even tho it is always pricy you get what you pay for & in this case it is worth every penny. Cheers,

Stopped by for both Lunch and Dinner yesterday. First time visiting the place. Food was off the chart. usually the places we go to have may be one or 2 menu items that are worth trying but here the entire menu was great. Crab bisque is to die for but given that menu is seasonal I hope that they would keep it year round. Service was good, Not spectacular but very good and consistent, so I would say if you have a choice of places choose this one.

Consistently excellent. I work for a large not for profit and spend a great deal of time arranging small to medium size meetings for technical groups. Over the last 20 years I've probably used a couple hundred sites. In my opinion the Montchanin Inn, and the Krazy Kat's restaurant is an excellent site for 20 or less people. Krazy Kat's stands on its own as an outstanding restaurant. The motif is offbeat with the cat and dog theme. In a world of cookie cutter restaurants this place should appeal to anyone with a sense of humor, A couple years ago the food waned a bit. But the current Executive Chef has revitalized the menu and the produce supply. Farm to table ingredients enhance a creative seasonal menu. Just ate here last night. We enjoyed great food all around from filet to vegan. The atmosphere and service rival any downtown DC restaurant. My very well traveled colleagues now come in the night before meeting to dine together here. Food is complimented by a strong wine list. My experience has been that service is consistently great. In summary, I've eaten here over 2 dozen times. The food and service have never been better than right now and are impeccable. Similarly the Inn is a very serviceable site for up to 20. The old powder factory rooms are well fitted and comfortable. The Registration building holds a functional meeting space and a great room with honor bar for the end of the day hour. Service again is great. Would recommend this place for any foodie and as a fail safe site for a small meeting. And as you see below breakfast is good too!

There seems to be a consistent theme in the reviews. Wonderful food let down by the staff. During brunch, there were two order mistakes in my meal. For dinner, I asked for no mushrooms in my meal but the kitchen still added the mushroom sauce. And our server tended to disappear for a while. However, they do seem to sincerely want to make you happy. Despite their faults, the kindness of the staff still won me over. The presentation of the food itself was wonderful. However, I would have to say the menu is more pretentious than flavorful. The french toast was very good but the syrup overly sweet. Not to say anything was bad just not great. For the price, I hoped for better. Two stars feels too harsh but Yelp's description of three stars is "A-ok" which would be a stretch. If I were in the area again, I would probably not return. I suspect there are equally good experiences at a better price.

A rare 5 star from me. This was a fine, fun experience. Very interesting specials (pork cheek in cider tart!). Intelligent offering of large or small servings. This not only saves money, but leaves room for excellent appetizers and desserts. We could not finish the fine cheese plate. I had a seared red snapper with risotto and my wife had a seafood combination in cream sauce. Lovely setting, slightly bizarre decor, harried staff (who knew a Monday would be so popular?) who were attentive and fun. Go there.

Ok, not great. The room is comfortable enough but could certainly use a decor refresh or maybe just a deep cleaning. I had a great salad with berries and buratta over frisee. Very summery and refreshing. My chicken dish was inventive and placed over a bit of pasta and a lot of great vegetables, however the chicken itself was totally overcooked and dry. They were out of a couple of the desserts that my party of 6 wanted to order. I had strawberry sorbet which was good and flavorful. I guess the real downer for me was ordering a glass of rose' and being served a flute of sugary pink champagne. When I asked the waitress where my rose' was, she replied, "that is rose', the only kind we have." Oh well.

Here for brunch again and service was better. I've had better meals here but brunch here is still great. Serrano ham hash with poached eggs and eggs Benedict with crab. Top it off with Apple pain Perdu and duck bacon and you have a great brunch. Coffee is always good and they have upgraded to larger mugs that keep the coffee warm.

My wife and I were searching for romantic brunch/breakfast to start out 4th yr anniversary and we came across this gem. Reservation is a must. At first glance outside its nothing spectacular just normal decor and just krazy kats as an original name for restaurant. We decided to come in for brunch with a dark mello atmosphere interior through a small dining area to more lit area by windows. My wife orderd the crab bisque which was amazing. The coffee was very fresh and had u craving for more. The entrees and desert were all exquisite including the service. Just make be aware u get bring a hefty wallet. The price is high for the quality of food and service. We will look forward to coming back again

One of the best meals I've ever eaten, plus excellent service. We had dinner and breakfast and could not get enough. It's high end but worth every penny. We were also staying at Montchanin and the entire experience was amazing. Take the time and spend the money here!

Very unique restaurant hidden somewhere in the woods. I love their antique interior and delicious meal selection. It's a very expensive place. We ended up with $80 per person for a nice dinner. For some special occasion it's with it but wouldn't go there otherwise.

Brought my parents here for brunch, after my mom had endured a surgery that left her (temporarily) unable to ingest a few ingredients. The server and kitchen were completely helpful, and everything else about the meal was fantastic. Fascinating recipes, from the sausage gravy served on a waffle with crisped vegetables to the lightly fried apple pie. And wonderful decor in a setting that hardly needs the help.

My boyfriend and I went here to celebrate my sister and her husband's 10th anniversary on Friday (06/13). I had been here once before last year for my sister's birthday, and I have to say, the food and service were even better this time around (although we had the same server; her name was Barbara and she was super sweet and helpful). Since Krazy Kats offers their appetizers and main courses in two sizes, I decided to order a small cup of the crab bisque as my appetizer, and the regular-sized mahi-mahi, which came with quinoa mixed with mango and pineapple. A very unique and delicious meal. I also loved the giant portions of crab meat in my bisque, which had the perfect consistency. We all split the Brussels sprouts, which was a personal favorite of mine from my last dining experience. They have a wonderful crispy texture, and the flavor is out of this world. Barbara also recommended the Shiraz as our wine for our meals, which was an excellent choice: the wine was full and hearty with a pleasant fruity aftertaste. And for once, red wine didn't stain my lips! I hate when I have to sip water after taking a sip of wine to stave off the "wine line" at the inner crease of my mouth. My boyfriend had a tough time deciding what he wanted, but finally opted for the rabbit chowder as his appetizer, and crab cakes and roasted duck for his entree. He shared some of the duck with me and it was very tender and sweet. I also sampled a spoonful of the rabbit chowder and enjoyed its earthy, slightly smoky flavor. My sister had the berries and burrata as her appetizer, and the small-portion ahi tuna for her dinner. I tried some of the tuna and it was excellent. The tuna was sushi-grade and was just about seared, so it still retained its dark color. I loved it. My brother-in-law had the Cobb salad and ribeye/chicken. Because he was sitting way across the other side of the table from me, and I was having trouble trying to finish everything on my plate, I didn't get a chance to taste either of his dishes, but I think it was safe to say he liked them a lot. I honestly didn't think I had enough room for dessert, but Barbara convinced me to try the sorbet, which came served in three little scoopfuls on a rectangular plate. I also had a cup of organic mint tea, which helped settle my full stomach. The sorbet came in three flavors: plum, raspberry, and some kind of strawberry/pomegranate mix that was all kinds of awesome. I polished that off while everyone else bravely attempted to finish their desserts. My sister and boyfriend ordered the Krazy Kats brownie, which looked divine, but was simply too filling for either of them. My brother-in-law had the cheesecake and was quite pleased. As a final toast to the happily married couple, Barbara offered us shots of a strong, licorice and herb drink called Strega. There is an Italian legend about this drink; it goes something like this: a witch (called "The Strega", oddly enough) brews the drink deep in the woods, and if a newly married couple (or any married couple for that matter) takes a sip of the drink, they will be blessed with good fortune throughout their marriage. Barbara warned us the Strega should be sipped slowly, but for some reason, after our toast, I took it all in one gulp. For about three seconds, I thought back to that scene from "Raiders of the Lost Ark" where Belloq follows Marion's lead and knocks back his glass of wine and almost loses his shit. By some miracle, I did not belch or cough, although I did feel as though the liquor burned a clear path down my esophagus. But hey! My sinuses cleared, so you take the good with the bad sometimes. It's my own fault for being stupid. At some point, we will need to stay at the Monchanin Inn over the weekend so we can fully take advantage of their spa and Sunday brunch (which I've heard a lot about).

Had dinner and breakfast here this past week and was disappointed both times. Starting with the dinner they waited a good 20 minutes after we had placed our order to inform us that the strip steak that three of us had ordered wasn't available but they would be happy to substitute filet mignon for it. Sounds like a good idea until they bring it out and it was presented in two pieces on each plate. One piece was relatively tender while the other piece was really tough. The people who had their entrée each remarked that it didn't come out to the desired temperature that they ordered (undercooked and overcooked). I had the gnocchi which wasn't bad. Service wasn't good capped off by one of the wait staff dropping a full glass of water in my lap. Breakfast the next day started off really bad with the rude hostess who informed us that we only had a reservation for two instead of four. Hard to believe that she made such a fuss over this since we were staying in a two bedroom suite at the inn and I had made the reservations for both dinner and breakfast when I booked the room. Also the restaurant was half empty in the morning so that should not have been a problem anyway. My husband ordered the Belgian waffle which when he was half done the waiter came out with a bottle of maple syrup. The best thing that I can say about this place is its proximity to Winterthur which is why we stayed here in the first place.

Went to brunch here with two other people. Within about 20 minutes after brunch we all felt gross. Not food poisoning or anything, but the amount of grease they use cooking their eggs is classic diner status. Was expecting a bit more considering the price and location. The brunch was bad enough where not of us finished our meals and won't be returning to see if Krazy can put together a decent dinner.

You know when you read the menu that the food will be great...and it doesn't disappoint. Pork cheeks and ropa vieja to start. Wild boar and rack of lamb for entrees and orange cheesecake and ginger funnel cake (with BACON ice cream). Each dish was executed perfectly and the service was impeccable. Can't wait for the next visit.

I wanted to take my visiting 90 year-old Mom someplace special for Sunday brunch. I had wanted to try Kry Kats so this was a great opportunity. We were not disappointed. started with a perfect Kir Royale and Mom had a Bloody Mary with large, firm olives; not the usual small and mushy ones. Next, a cup of butternut squash bisque. It was thick and creamy with a curl of crisy duck. It was the right portion size for a pre-meal appetizer; a bowl would be a meal. I followed with the braised short rib over cheese jalapeno grits, topped with rich, dark gravy. It was excellent. Mom opted for the buttermilk belgian waffle, topped with a sweetened ricotta and fruit and served with an individual bottle of warm Vermont maple syrup. Mom said it was very good. Service was friendly, attentive and efficient. My only quibble is, romance not withstanding, the main room is a little too dark. Krazy Kats is definitely on my repeat lit.

Three visits in the last two years -- wish it were closer! Krazy Kats sports that funky name, with playful art to go with it in the dining rooms, but this is a 5-star restaurant that brings elegance and professionalism to its very good cuisine. And thus makes for a very relaxing place to treat yourself to excellent food. Dark, QUIET (not for Starr fans), and fun, a great place for a romantic dinner or a family dinner. It is a treat to be in this restaurant, and I am having trouble thinking of even one other place that I feel that way about. Portions are not big, you will need a salad or appetizer, but none of us wanted dessert, none of us were hungry later, and I wasn't even hungry the next morning. Oh, also, it is not in the woods someplace, although it can look like that after dark; but rather on beautiful Rte. 100 aka Montchanin Road just north of Wilmington. It sneaks up on you in the dark, even with the related hotel across the parking lot. Very atmospheric. There will be men in coats and ties dining there. I won't be one of them, but that's still another plus in my book.

Expensive disappointment. Perhaps we should have come for brunch, as it has received much more favorable reviews. My husband and I tried Krazy Kats for dinner, and while we enjoyed the food, the front of the house ruined the experience. What we found most off-putting was the offensive body odor of the waiter who brought us beverages and cleared plates. He was sweating profusely, and I eventually held my breath whenever he approached to service the table. While the lead server who assisted us had no similar hygiene problems, she was curt and aggressive. When she initially left our table, she threw the menus into a corner pile. Moreover, she was unwilling to offer any description of the food! When we inquired about the details of a specific dish, she abruptly told us that she had tried everything. It's great that the kitchen has waiters taste their creations, but if the servers can't bring themselves to communicate their experience to diners, what good does it do? As we left, the waitstaff was hunched over the foyer bar loudly gossiping. With respect to the food, this is the kind of restaurant that my parents (both in their 60s) would love. Most men are in sport coats. The menu is not particularly adventurous. The food was very good -- high quality and well prepared -- however, those serving do the meal a total disservice with their poor manners, unprofessional demeanor, and (in some cases) smelly presence. I strongly suggest dining elsewhere.

My wife and I had dinner there tonite. Her Lamb arrived cold and the special beef dish, a bleu cheese crusted strip tasted as if the chef was hiding a bad cut of beef under the crust. Disappointing.

Five (5) STARS all the way. We've been out here on business for a few weeks now and have dined at Krazy Kats almost every morning for breakfast. Today we tried the Sunday Brunch. And last week one of our business partners also tried the dinner. TOP NOTCH all the way. Really good food, great wait staff (Kimberly, Kristen, Pedro - you know who you are, and everyone else we've ever had the pleasure of meeting), fantastic ambience. I can't say enough good things about this place.

Krazy Kats seemed like the perfect place to take two animal loving friends for a joint birthday celebration. The location and decor are both enchanting and magical with a dash of history, humor and romance (inside: the cat & dog oil paintings, cozy little pillows with witty embroidering, soft candlelight, fresh flowers, original forge & horse tethers, and wrought iron chandeliers...outside: lighted paths with old fashioned lamps, lit trees, pink flowered trellises, and beautiful cascading greenery). Inside its also very quaint intimate dining-no place for children or noisy drunkards lol. Currently the restaurant was running a special menu where in you could choose an appetizer, dinner and dessert for $30 and the app and dinner included wine. What I really appreciated about the menu was that you did not have to do the complete meal, meaning you could opt to get an appetizer or just an entree and still get the wine combo. I also love when a restaurant offers fresh ever changing dishes beyond the regular menu. There is also a daily vegetarian option and on this particular night it was "study of carrot." I'm not vegetarian but it sounded intriguing. The regular menu was a bit shocking as it was completely different from the website menu which, according to the waitress has not been updated for some time. No Pan Seared Colossal Shrimp w/ lobster bacon ravioli-boo :( Also found it funny that there is a crab cake dish on their menu that is strikingly similar to the crab cakes at Stone Balloon Wine house (now 16 Mile) apparently the chef migrated from there and brought that dish with him (it is a good one so I can't blame him). For starters my friends and I shared a cheese plate. I wish I could remember the cheese names but none really stuck out and overall though tasty, the cheese plate really didn't live up to the $18 price tag. Being the piggy that I am I also had to try the poached lobster and the crab bisque. The crab bisque was full of fresh quality crab meat and definitely the most delicious part of my meal. While the poached lobster meat itself was enjoyable I found the accompaniments odd. The beautiful lobster tail was cloaked in a cumbersome red bell pepper and chanterelle mushrooms were scattered around the plate. I thought maybe I needed a bite of the bell pepper w/ the lobster and the mushroom to understand and appreciate the dish but no-the flavors don't work and worse disguise the beautiful flavor of the lobster. I also tried a bite of a friends app-a filet mignon stack w/ puff pastry. The steak was a nice med rare and had good flavor. Having just spent a weekend at the illustrious Hershey Hotel and being on a cocoa food kick, I knew I had to try the braised short rib mole with the spring pea risotto (on the special menu). Parts of the short rib were tender and succulent and parts were fatty which of course delighted a friend of mine who loves that part. The risotto was one that even evil ole Gordon R would approve of. Finally for dessert the birthday girls were given a complementary peach cobbler and a pretzel cheesecake with candles. Overall the indoor & outdoor ambiance is what kicks the 3 star overpriced food over to a 4 star rating for me. I also think we had attentive service-Raul was on point with his water serving game and every time one of us left the table we would return to see our napkins rolled up neatly. I would go back more for the charm then the food.

Fun, kitschy, little restaurant - LOVE the crazy cat decor! This has been a longtime favorite brunch and lunch place for me - can't speak to the dinner experience. I've never been disappointed - the food has always been exquisite - duck crepes, anyone?? The salads are always beautifully presented and fresh. When I had their crab bisque I *actually* found sizable chunks of crab which is more rare than you would expect. Service is great and it's the type of place where you are encouraged to linger over a nice leisurely brunch. My only complaint is that there are two rooms, the dining room and a sunroom once you've dined in the sunroom, the dining room is just waaaaay too dark for Sunday brunch - but it's all part of what makes this little gem so unique.

What a surprise!! We drove from Maryland to see the gardens at Winterthur and being hungry we stopped in for lunch. Given the name we were suspicious. Even more so when standing near the bar the young lady behind it inquired of a co worker what a twist of lemon should be! Not to worry - it turned out she was a wait person filling in for a moment or two. Our brunch was exquisite in every way. A respectable bloody mary was done for my husband, the seasonal root vegetable duck hash - beyond incredible and a lovely Sancerre by the glass. The staff was lovely and accommodating. It was a real pleasure to discover.

Been there a couple of time in the past but I would have to say this was our worst experience. From the table to the service to the food i left there saying I just threw away $150.00. First it was our anniversary. When we get there they put us at a table in the middle of the room about a foot away from another couple. There were other tables that they could have given us. Actually there was a nice table in the corner that was empty when we got there but later I saw they sat a gentlemen there dining alone, just reading. Second the food from the Caesar salad to the Antelope steak to the Rib Eye had absolutely no flavor. Very disappointing. Found out a new executive chef started about a month ago. Maybe they should get the old one back.

From the moment we entered Krazy Kat we were treated with warmth and gentility. Barbara, our waitress and Eric, her assistant were the epitome of professional service. The wine list was more than adequate. The salads and entrees were presented in a subtle but pleasing manner. The taste and portion were enjoyable for the price. We enjoyed sorbet for dessert. First time at this restaurant. We look forward to our next visit.

My husband and I had dinner at Krazy Kats for my birthday on Saturday night. The decor was a little odd (what do you expect with a name light Krazy Kats?) but nice. Dimly lit to feel intimate, but not so dark that you can't see your food. I ordered the braised pork cheeks with gnocci as starter. When it came out, the gnocci was very hot, but the pork cheeks themselves were cold in the middle. They apologized profusely, brought me a new plate, and removed the appetizer from the bill. Once hot, they were absolutely delicious. The texture of the gnocci was awesome. My husband started with the beet salad and he greatly enjoyed it. I had the rack of lamb for my entree. I ordered it medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. It was all I could do to not actually gnaw at the bones at the table. It was served with a very good ratatouille. Not anything to write home about, but a nice pairing with the lamb. My husband had the beef (I'm not sure exactly what cut it was) and he said it was cooked very well. It was served with potatoes. I didn't try it, but he really liked it. We had the fudge sampler for dessert. I loved the peanut and he really enjoyed the almond joy inspired. The servers were great, available but not intrusive. While on the pricier side, it wasn't unreasonable. We would go back in the future.

I adore this restaurant. The ambiance and decor is just darling, completely quaint yet somehow still quirky/krazy/kool. The whole place just feels fun! I came here for the first time for brunch a few weeks ago, though I'd love to see the ambiance (and try the dinner menu) at night. While there are few things that you can do to mess up (or stand out with) a brunch menu, I found Krazy Kats had some surprisingly original and well put together dishes. I had the shrimp omelette which was exceptional (and I'm not an eggs person.) Everyone else's dishes smelled fantastic as well (though everything was too good to share!) Many unique and original combinations. The only downside for me was that the room we were in (I believe the main dining room) was a bit dark for breakfast and made the room feel heavy. As someone who used to live in the area, of course I would discover Krazy Kats after moving! I wish I'd known about it sooner. I have a lot of respect for the vision behind this restaurant.

A couple friends took a birthday girl here for brunch a few Sundays ago and I have to say, I was more than impressed. Kid Shelleen's is a standard brunch option for Wilmo folk, but for those willing to dress up a wee bit more, I think Krazy Kat's is a wonderfully affordable (surprise!) option. We each had a breakfast cocktail and delicious omelettes, all for under 20 bucks a person. We sat in the solarium for what felt like hours, chatting and were not bothered aside from the filling of our water glasses. I can't wait to go back!

great atmosphere and excellent service. The wine list and the food were delightful. Pricey. Can't wait to go back. The best part was the waiter bringing us this wacky freebie appetizer, which consists of 3 parts - i don't remember exactly what it was (lots to drink that night...), but basically the results was something like a bacon cookie. Strange combination but DELICIOUS!!! Look forward to going back there.

Dined here on a Tuesday night with a group of 7 for a late dinner at 8:45pm. The ambiance before going to the restaurant was romantic - to say the least. The tree that was lit up with small lights, the crickets creating a melody with their little chirping, to the old trees with a lot class. However, I was surprised right away when we walked in. The restaurant is dressy; there are paintings of cats and dog everywhere including your plates; the chairs are huge as if from alice wonderland. The food was very good. If we were to base the restaurant on food alone, the restaurant would have gotten a 4 star. What did we have then? 1. Cheese Plate - Pick 4 different types of cheese for $20. A very good deal. We were able to share one cheese plate amongst 7 people. The cheese selection is varied and comes with a strawberry jelly, berries, bread & crackers. 2. Sides - Each side is able to serve family style. Mac and Brie - It's Mac and Cheese but creamier. The mac and brie was cooked perfectly - there was no run of extra cheese and there was a slight crunch from the top of the mac & brie. White Truffle Pomme Puree - I could not taste the white truffle in this dish and ended up just tasting like mashed potatoes to me. I would suggest not to order again. 3. Antelope - Yes, because it was antelope and I thought to myself, "When am I ever going to eat Antelope?!" The Antelope surprisingly was not too gamey nor chewy; it had a duck/steak- like consistency. The antelope was coated heavily with pepper which masked the true taste of the antelope. 4. Hudson Valley Duck Breast - I had a taste of the Duck Breast. This was one of the better dishes (compared to the Antelope and the scallops) as the chef maintained the flavor of the duck. The duck breast had a slighty crunchy skin but the juices flowed from the duck meat as you take a bite. The haricot vert on this dish was amazing and should have ordered it as a side. Overall, one of my coworkers described the dish as "a plethora of flavor". Each compenent of this dish had something to the table and was good even as standalone. What gave this restaurant 2 stars? Poor customer service. First, we were definitely a younger crowd in what appears to be an old - school spot for the locals. We felt like we were treated as such. There was no explanation of specials (if there were any) and no personal touch from the service. They carded us and looked suspiciously long on each id as if we were underage. Second, towards the end of the meal, yes it was getting late but NO need to close the lights on one of the side dining rooms on us. Once they turned that light off, the place was extremely dim and we felt we were being hurried out. Finally, we asked nicely about the smaller plates deal and they sternly told us that they could not accomodate us for a party of 7+ (yes a weird number to come up...not 6+ but 7+). We did have our hearts set out on the smaller plates deal but it didn't seem like they wanted to accommodate us or even suggest splitting into 2 tables.

My family and I were very disappointed to be turned away for Christmas Day brunch after we were a few minutes late for our reservation. We have been going to Krazy Katz for a few years now on Christmas Day, and so the poor review is not a reflection of the food quality, but rather the poor customer service. The staff, after explaining that there was no way they could keep the kitchen open to serve us, had the audacity to say "Merry Christmas" as we left. I know my mom was very disappointed that we had to go to Denny's , but honestly, I think we were treated much better there. We will not be returning to Krazy Katz.

This would have been a 4 to 5 star review had it not been for the terrible seating and the amazing indifference to it. When my wife and I arrived the restaurant was empty and yet we were seated at a table for two immediately adjacent to the entrance to the dining room and within a few feet of a set of swinging doors that the staff used to enter the dining room - virtually continuously through the meal! The noise from the doors was constant and annoying. Normally we would have asked to be moved but we were seated with abruptness and finality as if this was a choice location. On a previous visit many years ago we were seated at a very nice table in the sunny room adjacent to the main dining area - substantially better location. The food, however, was excellent and saved the evening. I had the hearts of romaine salad and my wife had the striped beet salad. Both were very flavorful and delicious. For our main course, I had the filet of beef and my wife had the salmon. Again, both were excellent although my filet was cooked a bit rare vs. the medium that I ordered. Service was professional but unenthusiastic. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant is nice but really.....lose the swinging doors!!!!! Overall a 3.5 star experience. We will go back but insist on better seating.

Great food in a really quaint and intimate setting. We checked out Krazy Kat's for brunch and really enjoyed it. The total for a really top notch brunch was $47 including tip and for portion size and quality was definitely worth it. Entering the restaurant is kind of like going into a hobbit hole. You walk down some stairs from the upper parking area then double-back around the corner to a big door. The atmosphere inside is inviting and intimate although very kitschy and over the top at the same time. The high back chairs having a mixture of cheetah print and Victorian design, the lampshades on the sconces have "frillies" adorning them. There are big portraits of a cat and dog in regal attire overseeing the main dining room...just a bit odd and over the top...but hey, its Krazy Kat's! The food was superb. We started with an heirloom tomato salad with house made saffron mozzarella and a pesto oil. The tomatoes were very flavorful and the cheese was amazing. The greens added quite a kick too. I had the chorizo omelet as my entree which was stuffed with tomatoes, gouda, spinach, fresh corn (and of course chorizo.) It was stuffed and cooked to perfection - one of the best omelets I've ever had. Accompanying were perfectly cooked potatoes, creamy on the inside but quite crunchy on the outside, and whole grain toast. My wife had the pancakes which were great in regards to flavor but doused with a little too much syrup. So definitely ask for the syrup on the side as they were basically swimming... I would say, while the service was good and attentive, we were not told of any specials. We're younger so it always annoys me when I see/hear older patrons getting the full treatment from the waitstaff. Either way, we'll definitely be back. A very scenic area and a brunch that's worth a drive.

This place has got to be one of my top 3 restaurants I've been to. The first time was for brunch, the last 2 times for dinner. It's unfortunate to see that people had bad customer service but I guess it depends on when you go - the last two times we got the same server and she was awesome. Everything about Krazy Kats is what most restaurants should strive for! The ambiance is great with all the paintings of the cats and dogs in uniform, the seats are huge and comfortable and overall the decor is tasteful. I'm not sure if there's a dress code, usually people are dressed up pretty nice but I've gone in jeans and a nice shirt and never had a problem. Although I can't really remember what I got for brunch the one time - it was a few years ago - I do remember a really good fruit salad and enjoying my meal overall. The second time - for dinner - I got soft shell crab. I ate every bite. The third time, which was about a month ago, I got swordfish. Also ate every bite. We also got the fried brussel sprouts as an appetizer which are amazing!! Anything I tried from my boyfriend's place was also great - lentils, duck, a croissant stuffed with a tomato! Everything just had so much flavor. What's so great about it is that they change the menu every few months so everything is always fresh. If you're looking for a unique, cozy restaurant with AMAZING food, then definitely go here, you will not be let down.

Oh my god...I loved this place and want to go back for brunch. Very fancy/upscale and beautiful. I was here for a private party and had such a great time. The staff was very pleasant and it was overall a great experience. We even were told a bit of history behind the property that the restaurant shares with the neighboring spa. We were upstairs in a private room but the downstairs was decorated beautifully with different cat pictures on the walls. I so want to come back.

We went there today for brunch. The food is amazing. There's no doubt that the quality of the cuisine is top notch. The service, however left much to be desired. We thought the two young girls working there were about to break into a catfight (no pun intended). That, coupled with the complete inattentiveness of our server (one of the aforementioned girls), made for a slightly unpleasant experience. We will go again, but I hope this was not the usual experience.

Cosy spot ideal for romatic dinning at a very reasonable price and professional service. Food is great. In fact I give it 4.5

The front of the house really lets the back of the house down at this restaurant. We were a table of 3, seated for dinner on a Saturday, and watched as servers, maître' D other "important" looking staff walked past our table for 20 minutes. The place was maybe half full. I got up from my seat to complain & one of the servers took pity on us and took our drink orders. The night kinda got back on track but our assigned server really just went through the motions: "is everything to your liking?" "Would you care for dessert?". But, their menu is inventive, the food presentations are creative and most of all, the food was delicious. Wilmington doesn't really have a 4 star restaurant. This could be it with a little house cleaning out front. Such great potential. Hats off to the staff I the back, well done.

I'm torn whether 2 stars or 3. I have had a lot better food and for the purported quality of the restaurant, it really was nothing special. The wait staff was very poor. We were at the table for 12 minutes until the waitress asked us for a drink order. Then we sat for another 20 minutes until she returned to take our dinner requests. So basically, for an hour, we had a dinner roll and a glass of wine. I had the pear salad. Good but nothing remarkable. My wife had the lobster bisque. This was the highlight of her dinner. For an entree, I ordered the crab cakes. These were very average and frankly, just bland. The two cakes were placed on top of deep fried tomato slices, which were both weird in combination with the crab and also did not taste very good. Miss R had the salmon, which she remarks has been better prepared at home. Cheese cake for dessert and again, nothing to make us say wow. Either this was a really off night in the kitchen or Krazy Kats is way over rated.

We stayed at the hotel on our road trip. Our first thoughts would be of more history preserved at the place, and the Krazy Kat really lacked original atmosphere, it did have the feel of a 1980's fit out. The ceiling in particular looked as if it had come right out of a retail store, and the ambiance was dated. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food selection interesting if a little dated. I had braised pork belly to start with followed by sweetbreads. Both dishes were over salty for my liking but the pork belly worked best. The sweetbreads were served with macaroni......which to me simply did not work. I got some truffle mashed potato (excellent) and green beans which worked well. Overall we felt slightly disappointed as the chef tries well, but the whole place was a little stuck in the past.

Absolutely wonderful experience! The ambiance (classy/interesting), the service (attentive/professional) and the food which is delicious, creative perfectly executed and memorable makes this restaurant an outstanding jem particularly for this area where many restaurants we've visited are trying but not so good at delivering this WOW experience. The most unexpected for us was the great value of this meal. If you go with their small portions you'll get to try more yummy stuff for less money spent. We had 3 appetizers, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, 2 beers, 1 port and 1 cappuccino for $110 total including tips and they don't charge tax in Delaware. Now that's what i call a GREAT value. We'll definitely be back every chance we get.

Had Antelope. It was quite well prepaid and was super tasty. Had a mint Julip that lame. The waitress said all the wait staff prep thei own bar drinks. The low stars are for the long service. 3.5 hrs fir party of ten. When asked for the bill, took 15 minutes.... Had breakfast again the next morning with a table of five. I had the omlette which was very tasty butAGAIN did not get put in under an hour.... It was only one course and the room was only HALF full! I ate there two more times since I wrote the original post above. The trick to getting out of there in a reasonable time is to let them know before you sit down that you are on a time table...

Love this place. Set in an adorable boutique hotel in an ideal country setting. I believe the place used to be a duPont farm and the hotel is made out of the housing that was built for their workers. The restaurant is fine dining with funky, romantic atmosphere in a refurbished stables. One thing I really liked is that you can order an appetizer portion of an entree. I only eat little bits at a time spread out through the day, and since we were staying in a hotel we didn't particularly want leftovers, so it worked out perfect. Plus, this gave us the option to save room to try more dishes, and we ended up getting a fantastic steak appetizer, and since we couldn't decide on one desert we ended up getting the bourbon creme brulee and the creamsicle cheesecake. Both excellent, particularly the creme brulee which is their house special. For entrees we got the duck and the crab cake, both great. Having lived in Los Angeles, one of the top foodie cities, I would have to say I was pretty impressed with the dishes. The last time I actually had good duck was in DE so maybe it's just better on that side of the country. The wine was also really good. Our server was friendly and informative, our busboy, Mike, was really sweet, and they were both really on top of things. And I loved the paintings on the wall. It's cats and dogs in renaissance style paintings dressed like historical figures. It really sold it as a fancy dining experience with a sense of humor. I would definitely come back and would like to stay at the hotel at some point. We had to stay downtown for events but the Greenville/Centerville area seems like the perfect location for a nice getaway.

My future in-laws were awesome enough to take me here for dinner. This restaurant is part of a bed-and-breakfast type inn, very nice -- and expensive. The food was really superb. At the beginning of the meal we all got a 'welcome' from the chef which was a bit of goat cheese garnished with a plum and some fennel. I had a crab bisque, which had some of the best crab I've ever tasted in a creamy delicious soup -- rich but not too rich. I also tried a bit of the arugula salad, which had many fresh twists of flavor -- nectarine & vanilla vignagrette, with cranberries. My entree was a beef tenderloin, a nice piece of meat that was charred nicely. Delicious. The dessert was actually the most unmemorable -- chocolate buttercream cake, but I heard the creme brulee was great. I would have given this 5 stars, but my fiance had the special of the day (kobe beef), and suffered a bout of food poisoning. :( But ... besides that, we both agreed everything was really fantastic.

I've gone here several times with my foodie friends for Sunday Brunch, and each time I was delighted. As to be expected for a place in Montchannin, it was beautiful, elegant, and super-foo-foo. For my first time there I was underdressed in nice jeans and a classic sweater. Wear your Sunday best. The service was impeccable, the coffee was delicious and the food was perfectly prepared. Definitely the best eggs benedict that has ever crossed my lips. If you need some foo-foo, this is your spot. Dress nicely, dahling, and don't forget which fork to use-- they notice. Bring the in-laws there. Price-wise, it's only about a dollar or two more expensive than you'd pay for brunch anywhere else. For dinner, it's pricey; but you'll get what you pay for, without question. It's best if you call ahead and make a reservation, even for brunch.

I attended a dinner for 16 in a private room called the Board Room. We were disappointed. The service was terribly slow. After cocktail hour, we were seated for dinner for a half an hour before even a cold roll appeared on the table. The soup and crab cakes were too salty. The crab cakes were quite dry and served with a forgetable rice and a few overcooked spears of asparagus. The creme brulee left a greasy after taste. One cup of coffee was served with dessert, but no refills were offered. As mentioned in another review here, at least two of our party had intestinal distress later that night. The distance of the Board Room from the kitchen may be part of the service problem. This private dining room isn't in the same building as the Krazy Kat Restaurant , so logistics may complicate service. Although the chairs in the room are very large leather executive chairs, they are not really comfortable for everyone because the seats are so "broken in" they're akin to bucket seats and cause a shorter woman to be almost at neck-level to the table! I must also comment on the difficulty parking in the small lot and the treacherous, rather long walk on cobblestones and steep stone stairs that make this a less than desirable place for older women in heels, especially after dark. This is part of the ambiance of the historic locale, but it appeared that a disabled person would have a great deal of difficulty attending a function in the Board Room.

Superb food and service. We love escaping to The Inn and eating dinner and brunch at Krazy Kats. The service is always attentive and the food is delicious. The portions are a little big for us, but this is really not a complaint.
