Another awesome meal! Great friendly service. Attention to details. Amazing food. Highly recommend the home made Italian wedding soup. Not spicy just right.

The employees were very friendly. The servers need to communicate with customers and the kitchen more. When someone orders something with "Very light Sauce" it doesn't mean food swimming in sauce. Also when you send it back to the kitchen, you redo the dish from the beginning not recook the same dish to cook the sauce down...not good...the Steamed Clams App.were mealy, like they were under a heat lamp for a couple hours...and the Singing that came out of no where...I couldn't talk or hear the other people at my table...hmmmm...The Antipasto was very Good, and big portion...enough to take home...it's a very small restaurant ...I would try it again

I have to say, not so good. First thing, I took my daughter to the restroom, and while waiting, got to see the delivery of food process. Stacks and stacks of product right on the dirty floors outside the bathrooms. I didn't get the feeling that this was a very clean place. The waiter was quite young, and clearly new to waiting tables. He tried, but didn't really pull off a good service. My wife ordered a side of pasta, my daughter a kid size plate of penne, I had the special, my other daughter had an appetizer and an entree, and my son didn't order anything. My wife's dish had to be sent back, it was cold. Mine was ok, not awesome. The appetizer was good, and my daughter's entree was ok. This all came to $85, which I don't have a problem with if the service is great, food is great, and atmosphere is good. None of those things were true. It's a strip mall place, and should not be charging like a quaint Oceanside bistro. It was not clean, had dingy stained ceiling tiles, and walls that hadn't seen a touch up for years. Sorry to say, I will head elsewhere next time I am in town.

Great food! Quaint, fun little Italian place! I was worried bringing my 9 month old (because I knew it was a small place) but luckily she behaved well and the staff is so nice and accommodating! The owner was unfortunately covering for someone in the kitchen so we didn't get to hear her sing (my dad took my daughter and I to dinner and he has been there many times). The waiter offered to get the owner (who apparently loves to entertain her guests with her wonderful talent) but we told her not to bother her! Anyway, I would definitely make a point to go back when I visit! Huge portions, WONDERFUL FOOD, amazing service, scrumptious desserts! Give it a shot!

Excellent choice for Italian food. Portions are large and prices are very reasonable. The pasta fagoli soup was absolutely wonderful. Member of our party had the lump crabmeat salad and said it was quite possibly the best salad he's ever eaten. There was nothing left on our plates. Nice and quiet atmosphere makes dinner conversation easy and enjoyable. Will definitely be back.

This was our first visit to Villa Sorrento, and it won't be the last by any stretch of the imagination. The meal was absolutely fantastic, the service was attentive but not over bearing, and the house Chianti was right on the mark. Don't let the surroundings fool you, it isn't your typical Pizzeria. The surroundings are quaint, and comfortable. If your looking to get your fix for Italian put Villa Sorrento on your list, you won't be disappointed.

First time eating here and I had the chicken parm and it was excellent. As soon as you walk in the door, you are greeted by staff and seated immediately. I didn't finish the first review and since then, I have gone again. Fabulous evening out. Warmly greeted, immediately seated and my beverage was there within seconds. I had the chicken parm again and it was wonderful. The salad that came with the meal was ample size. Had the pleasure of hearing the manager sing several operatic songs and got the restaurant singing along. Fun evening and I can't wait to go back. Good prices too!

This was our third visit to Villa Sorrento and it just keeps getting better every time. I visit my father in Rehoboth Beach a few times a year and we like to go out for a nice family dinner when I am visiting. This is now my #1 favorite restaurant ever on both coasts! From the moment you walk in you feel like you are family. We were warmly greeted and promptly seated at a cozy table. Our waitress was well versed in the specials and made us feel right at home. I had the Fettuccine Carbonara which is the best I have ever had, perfect blend of cheeses and cream it just melts in your mouth. The best part of such a wonderful dinning experience is when the owner, Mara came out, greeted us as family and serenade us with her beautiful angelic voice. There was not a dry eye in the house as her voice is so lovely! Then before we knew it, she had the entire restaurant singing along with her to "That's Amore"! Overall a perfect 10 and a fantastic evening that I will always treasure! I feel lucky to have been able to visit this charming restaurant and look forward to my next visit.

PROS: Vegetarian options, decent food, decent prices, good service CONS: Average ambiance, decent food An average Italian place near our B&B in Lewes, DE. Good place to go to for traditional Italian in the area.

We went to this restaurant on basis of positive reviews from Yelp. We had made reservations and so were quickly seated. Unfortunately, we had to wait at least 15 minutes before the manager apologetically took our order. She was very sorry about the wait and explained that the waiter was not aware that we were there. After that the service was friendly and prompt. One of us had Italian Wedding Soup and the other a garden salad. The salad was simple and decent. Although the Italian Wedding Soup tasted good, to our surprise it only had two meatballs. For the main course we had gnocchi with meat sauce, penne with cream sauce, peas, and mushrooms, and lobster ravioli. We would order the gnocchi again, probably the ravioli, but not the penne. This last dish had too few mushrooms. During our meal the manager sung two songs; this seems to be a tradition in the place. Otherwise the restaurant was clean, with modest decor. Overall this is a good place to get comfort Italian in a family friendly setting.

We were in the mood for Italian to cap off our week in Rehoboth. We were also hoping to avoid the Friday night crowds in town. After checking out the reviews and reading several menus we decided on Villa Sorrento in nearby Lewes. We were greeted by a warm and friendly hostess and were seated immediately. Within 5 minutes of our arrival, the same warm and friendly hostess - at the request of the guests at the next table - began to sing Italian songs a cappella. Her voice was wonderful and it just added so much to the warm and inviting feeling of the place. Our waitress and every other staff person we came into contact with were also extremely friendly...it felt like we were guests in someone's home. As for the food, it was amazing! My husband and I both ordered the Linguine Pescatore special, and we both special ordered to have them prepared spicy, which they not only accommodated, but our waitress asked us to specify a level of spiciness on a scale of 1 to 10 and even though my husband and I requested different spice levels, both of our meals were spiced perfectly to our tastes! In addition, I also requested a substitution of extra clams for mussels and the waitress did not even bat an eyelash. The home-made Italian salad dressing on the complimentary salad managed to elevate a hum drum iceberg based simple salad into something special as well. We will definitely eat here again the next time we're in the area!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
