The service was very good but the food wasn't so great. My burger was burned on both sides. The calamari wasn't drained from the grease. Also the seafood sampler is so small. Also it was pretty pricey for the size and quality of the food. I don't think I will be returning to J.D Shuckers.

We love Shuckers! The food is great! I love their fried oysters. The prime rib is awesome. They have lots of beers on tap! The waitstaff is great!

Bummer! Not a good meal! They're a seafood restaurant. My husband did like is oysters. I didn't like the grilled salmon pesto aioli or the dessert crepe that was a stuffed fried piece of dough. We nicely explained about the salmon--no manager came to our table. We nicely explained that crepes are not the same as deep fried dough. Still no manager. Very nice server in terms of attentiveness and personality. The last time we ate here was a year ago and the food was great then. New chef???

Ordered the Friday night special of scallops, fruit salad. Delish! Orange crush was awesome! Husband had jumbo shrimp and friend had shrimp tacos (her second time!). The kids split chicken tenders and fries. Everything was sooo good! Bathrooms were clean. Staff was right on the money. Really enjoyed our experience.

It just keeps getting better! The specials menus are unbelievable, I find myself wanting to come in almost every day to see what's new. The blackened shrimp southwest ceasar salad was huge and delicious, the surf and turf tacos unbelievable. My mom loves the food but I think she secretly goes for the incredible drink specials (summer passion is a favorite). The cocktails are terrific and inventive, and as always, the craft beer selection is surprisingly large. The hot fudge sundae is so good, even if I have dinner elsewhere or at home, I'll stop into Shuckers for a sinfully delicious dessert. Nicole is absolutely great, she remembers what we like to have and always greets us like old friends. Amber is great too, and has also done an outstanding job of remembering the things that make us unique. Love this place, please don't tell everyone or it will get too crowded!

They have a nice selection of standard and craft brews on tap. We had appetizers and salads, along with our beers. The food arrived as ordered. Unfortunately, we had to wait several times to be waited on, to order, and to clear the check. This was while sitting in the bar area, and there were only three or four couples there at the time -- not busy to say the least. As such, I cannot give a rating higher than three (3).

Food was totally not worth what they charge for it. Crab bruschetta was nearly inedible. Tiny pieces of crab on it and so much vinegar you could barely taste the tomatoes all for $14. Burgers were tasteless and came with about 15 French fries.

This place got a lot better over the past year. Still, there is a tendency to overseason food. The chef needs his taste buds readjusted. Just make sure you ask them to keep your food out of their Old Bay tub and you should be fine.

The server was very nice, that's the best thing I can say. My husband and I ordered a steak dinner and a scallop dinner. Both came to the table luke warm. My scallops were fresh (hence the 2 stars), but were dry and flavor less had no semblance of the "lemon butter sauce" in the description. The NY strip steak, while okay in flavor, was very thin. All in all, $63 was too much to pay for a mediocre (at best) meal.

Just OK. Blackened shrimp tacos so overly seasoned you could not taste anything else but salt. Dried out Ahi Tuna sandwich. Front desk hostesses not very welcoming, more interested in chatting with each other than greeting customers. No one smiling from hostesses to servers. Server literally running and not overly attentive. Might go back for a burger and a beer, not a place to order an entree.

Can't really write a food review, first ordered Delmonico Steak and after about 15 minutes of waiting, we were informed that they were sold out, next choice was the Porterhouse and that was sold out as well and it was only 7:30. Never going back again.

Pass on it. The place changed hands a few years ago. We live around the corner, went there a few times shortly after moving down. Wasn't bad. First bad sign was the staff was teens with no one over 21 around the front door. The prices have gone up considerably since the last time we were there, wings for $9, Fried calamari $10.75, entree's $15 and up, up up. I ordered fried flounder, one of the fish of the day. Wife ordered fried shrimp. I knew we were in trouble when the lemon wedge had that cut yesterday look. Flounder coating was thick and very crunchy, fish itself wasn't flounder, maybe catfish, mealy and very soft, no body. 2 bites, take it off the ticket. Shrimp had the same coating on it, wife thought it was OK, 6 shrimp for $20. I am sure they have something thats very good, but I am not going to pay top $$$ to find out. With all the great places to eat down here I will go elsewhere. Its is season and all the tourons are down making it hard to get a table.

Been here many times, the most recent being March 5, 2011. Great selection of beer on tap, had the Evo Porter from nearby Delmar. There are usually fresh fish specials that come with 2 sides for $18. I had the blackened grouper with mac-n-cheese and steamed broccoli. The portion was a little small, but not a bad value for $18. On Saturday nights they may have a small band or some other kind of live entertainment. Shuckers is a 5 minute ride out Rt 24 away from the traffic on Rt 1 in Lewes. Definitely worth the ride!

We visit regularly and usually sit at the bar. Tonite we took our 5 year old, service was pretty bad, food besides the steak was edible at best. Very disappointed, over paid.

JD Shuckers seems like a little hidden gem. Tucked back off the main road we went there and had an excellent evening. Great selections of beer, awesome oysters, shrimp, crab balls and bruscetta! Mmmm...mmmm....good!!

New management, but happy to know the food is still great. Went with a large party of 12 over 4th of July and service was quick. Nice option for those who live out on 24 and want to avoid the traffic on route 1. My sister had her rehearsal in the upstairs area here last year, so it definitely can work for a party as well.

Order was hambarger medium turkey barger both came out burnt to a crisp.we don't like to send food back to the kitchen you never know what they are going to do.about a quarter of the hambarger was eaten and about half of the turkey.when the waitress came over we showed her the burnt food, she said we should have told her sooner and she would have put another order in.i am sorry I didn't take pictures of the food it should have never been brought out! i feel at lest one of the burgers should have been taken off of the bill or at lest a manger should have come over to see what the problem was.wll not be going back anytime soon.one star is too many !

The service was great, young friendly faces, food came right away, drinks on time. But the food really exceeded our expectations. Oysters were perfect, everything was delicious. I love the fresh choices for sides, not just baked potato or french fries. Beer selection is great, it's hard to find Son of a Peach outside of South Carolina. We went around 5ish. It seemed to get much more busy as we were leaving. I will definitely return.

I have a habit of checking Yelp reviews before going out to eat at a place I have never been. I wasn't sure I wanted to go here, the reviews were not favorable however they were outdated. But our friends assured us it was good food. Nicole greeted us with a welcoming smile and was also our waitress. We started with a variety of their crushes, orange, ruby grapefruit, and lemon...all delicious and packed with a punch. Next came perfect tempura Calamari, crab soup (loaded with crab) and lettuce wedge with ample bleu cheese. Our entrees included crab cake, steakhouse burger fish taco and my Shuckers Burger. I gotta tell you I'm not a big fan of burgers but this one was absolutely delicious. The accompanying fries were hot and crisp. Another round of drinks finished off a perfect mid-day meal. Nicole was there when we needed her and absent when we didn't. Get away from the beach where food is mediocre and expensive and find JD Shuckers. With tax, oh there is no tax in Delaware, $124.25. A very fair price indeed.

This was a surprise! The crab soup was full of crab and sweet cream! The mini dishes are really small but after the fantastic soup and large salad I was completely stuffed!

Excellent food. We had the Chilled Seared Ahi Tuna appetizer. The tuna was fresh, tender and very tasty. I had the cream of crab soup which is one point they lost. It tasted ok, nice crab chunks but not very creamy. For an entree from the lunch menu I chose the crab imperial burger...nicely done! Grilled roll, perfectly cooked burger. Handcuf fries, slightly greasy. Very good dirty martini! I was disappointed that they were out of one of the listed deserts.

this place used to be so good. disappointed to report that the food and service this evening was pretty terrible. the waitress kept acting as if there was a fire burning in the kitchen that she had to put out every time she came to our table. wouldn't accurately answer questions about the menu. only visited the table 4 times during the meal -- twice to take our order because she interrupted us after our appetizer order to say "I'll just go out these in now." and ran away before we could give the rest of our order. I could understand if it were busy but it wasn't at all. as for the food, the specials menu is usually mind blowing and this time it was so...boring! I couldn't really find anything that said "this is going to be worth paying 20 bucks for because it's different and great" as I have rationalized during other visits. lastly, the food was poor. the three others I was with got steaks that were more fat than edible meat. my tuna was cooked medium as requested on the outside but the center was nearly raw. anyway, I don't know what's going on with this place. been here many times but unfortunately I think we won't be back.
