    We have dined at Catch 54 many times over the years. I felt it was time to stop and give them a review. After dining at 99 Sea Level in Bethany Beach and being disappointed the night before, we were so pleased to take our guests to a place with high standards which never disappoints. All of our meals were delicious and the service was excellent. Great Bay Views. Keep it going Catch 54!!

    We been to Catch 54 many times over the years and have always enjoyed our meals. Unfortunately, our dinner last night didn't live up to past experiences. First warning sign was no wait checking in at 6:15pm, the place was maybe 2/3rds full in-season. We were seated on an outside table. Both tables on either side of us, had issues with their food and were complaining to the manager. We ordered salads and mains. No issues with the salads, all came out quickly and were great. The mains were another issue. Those didn't come out for another 45min and of mixed quality. Bland crab mac&cheese, cold fries, undercooked fish, etc. My seafood stew was good. But overall, we weren't happy and let the manager know. I'm hoping this was just a bad night. We have always liked Catch 54 and would like it to return to form.

    Have visited Catch 54 each of the last two years while vacationing in Ocean City, MD from Phoenix. I go exclusively for the Buck-a-shuck oyster happy hour, which cannot be beat. Fresh, delicious, local oysters at a great price. The staff are exceedingly friendly- from the manager Loren to the bartender and the shucker. Had a great time there with my dad eating oysters and drinking great local beer- can't wait until next July when I can eat here again. Have to beat my record of 60 oysters at one sitting. If you're in the area- gotta hit this gem.

    Been going here for 3 years now every August when in South Bethany. Food is consistently good, but the menu hasn't changed at all in 3 years, which is especially noticeable to a non-fish or seafood eater like myself. I would like an option besides steak, please! View is fantastic! Sit outside at sunset. Bartenders are great.

    I visited Catch 54 twice this summer. One was an amazing experience on a Saturday night in July, the last was the Sunday before Memorial Day. Saturday in July was awesome, my husband and I shared the calamari and shaved brussel sprouts as an app, and split a burger. Everything was excellent, including the drinks. We wanted to wrap up summer with a meal at Catch 54 on Sunday, September 6th and could not believe this was the same restaurant. We started with the calamari, which was way undercooked. For our meals, my husband had the swordfish, which was okay - pretty dry and tasteless.. nothing special but certainly not worth the price. I tried the scallops, which the waitress said "was the top-selling dish". What a disappointment. The entire entree was disgusting. Soggy, mushy brussel sprouts and bacon, some sort of watered down corn mixture, and soggy and tasteless scallops. For $32.. seriously, this was just awful. Luckily my kids didn't starve as they had pasta, which was the best tasting meal on the table. Catch 54 needs to get its act together and be way more consistent. Competition for good seafood in the area will put this restaurant to shame.

    One of the best food places in Fenwick Island! Really cool restaurant and very good food. When my wife and I lived down there we would eat here pretty often. A little pricey in season but also have great specials off season. Decor is modern and comfy. Food is always good. Amazing fresh fish, also very tasty steaks. Good wine list, full bar. Great views and outdoor seating. Service is pretty good! Can be long waits when in season.

    Dined here for my dad's birthday dinner. I was coming from DC area, so I picked this restaurant based on the menu posted on their website. Unfortunately, they haven't updated their website and they didn't have some of the menu items. Strike one. It was also freezing upstairs. I have been here before and it was pretty good. Overall it was good, not great. We all were there to celebrate so we made the best of it. Deviled eggs were good. I liked the fried oyster with it. The scrapple was a joke...barely there. The beet salad would have been better if the goat cheese wasn't cold and hard. The oysters rockefeller was good. My dad said the short ribs were good but slightly overcooked. My mom had the shrimp and grits, so not sure. I didn't get to try it. Worth trying once, but I would prefer to dine somewhere else next time. Nice view.

    Sunday specials are awesome ! We skipped that..... Husband got the salmon dinner , I had the short rib dinner. On point every time ! The shaved Brussels salad had to be the best salad I ever had . Just the right amount of dressing! Not sure I will be able to duplicate it @ home ! Why bother, the views are so incredible ! Love it here !

    So, in reality I love this place. Nice wine list, good raw bar and maybe, just maybe the best soft shells at the beach. The view is awesome the decor is crisp and clean. Really, what more do you need? The bartenders are friendly and remember you as does the wait staff. All in all this place is a win. And the key lime pie is as good as ever

    I want to love this place. I really do. I mean, it's got a beautiful waterfront location, it's in Fenwick Island so it's really close by, the staff is friendly and remembers my name (benefits of being a beach bum, I suppose), and the actual space is beautiful. What's wrong? The food. The first time I went I ordered raw bar items, and felt really meh about them. Even the cold lobster claws were just OK, although the sauce they were with was good. The second time I went, I ordered the softshells with a salad. SoDel restaurants use local Delaware produce in their salads and make their dressings in house, so the salad was delicious. The softshells were really underwhelming. It was the batter; it was just normal, not anything special, and kind of covered up the actual taste of crab. Dessert was some kind of brownie sundae concoction. I should have mentioned before that the night I went it was around 96 degrees outside. Not sure if the AC wasn't working but the restaurant felt almost just as warm plus humidity. As a result, I got the thing almost completely melted. Service is friendly, esp. Jamie at the upstairs bar. I heard their menu was better before the fire. It sucks that most of the beach restaurants I really enjoy (Just Hooked, Nantuckets, Northeast) do not have great views, although Bluecoast is a notable exception. SoDel has proven they can make delicious food, now they just need to get it together at Catch 54 and wow people with creative cuisine and beautiful bay views.

    To be honest, this was our third choice dinner spot for the evening (the two others were full), but I am glad we ended up here. It was busy when we arrived around 7pm on a Wednesday night, but we were seated almost immediately. The décor is VERY sparse, but it's still nice. The walls are stark white and there are cow skulls hanging on the wall (which is strange, considering this is more of a seafood place). We sat inside, but there is also nice seating on a spacious deck outside. The view of the bay is great. Drink selection was decent. Some got some tasty chardonnay. My sister's grapefruit cocktail was delicious. The tap selection was small, but solid: Dogfish Head 60 Minute, Evolution Porter, Coors Light, etc. Appetizers: Avoid the lobster sliders ($14). They have so much mayonnaise and the bread is unappealing. Our other choices were much better though. Delaware Blue Crab Soup ($7) was tasty; had a bit more tomato than your average crab soup. The table gets some sweet and buttery bread. Dip it in the soup and you will be a happy camper. The clam and crab casino ($9) was amazing. Moist crab and tender clams were great. Crab claws were good. The meat was succulent, but there wasn't a ton of it. Strangely, not all your appetizers will come out at the same time. The raw bar and the kitchen are independent so we got our crab claws a good 5 minutes later than the other apps. The entrees came out fairly quickly. I had the Seafood Gumbo ($26). It had fried oysters, shrimp, scallops, sausage, okra, and cheese grits. It was great. Oysters were delicious, sausage was spicy, and the scallops were fantastic. They were tender, not spongy like poorly prepared scallops often are. Crab cake entrée ($32) was very good as well. They were slightly under-seasoned, but came with a great Dijon sauce. Fried just right. Soft shell crab dish was good too. Best meal of the night was the seared tuna off the specials menu. The outside was crusty with pepper and herbs. The inside was rare and buttery smooth. Gourmet filet mignons wish they were half as tender as this tuna. Accompanying veggies, sautéed zucchini and squash, were awesome too. We had a great meal at Catch 54 and I hope to come back next time I'm at the beach.

    Great place with a beautiful view! We were there in August and sat upstairs after about a 15 minute wait. The food was fantastic, as were the drinks. A little pricey but very nice. Get the shrimp and grits they were fabulous! The only reason why it's not 5 stars is because our waitress wasn't very good. She was pretty spacey (her name was Alexa?) and didn't take our dinner over until after we finished our appetizer (could have just been the way they do it). Twice we had to ask another server for something, other than that small fret it was a great experience.

    The salmon at Catch 54 is outstanding. It melts is your mouth. Seared the outside and tender on the inside. They are masters at cooking salmon and set the bar as to how all salmon should be cooked. Go before sun sets to enjoy the beautiful views.

    This is now our favorite restaurant in the Bethany/Fenwick area. Food is great - raw oysters are as fresh as they come, entrees are all amazing and desserts are wonderful too., The view of the bay during sunset is priceless especially if you sit at a table upstairs. They also have a great happy hour. Bartenders and the oyster schucker are friendly and have been there the past 2 seasons so they very experienced. This is definitely the place to go if you want a nice dining experience after a good day at the beach.

    I have been to this restaurant several times and was always pleased with the experience until tonight. I waited about 20 minutes and was seated in a dark corner table on the deck. We ordered 2 club sodas as we already had cocktails in the bar. After we both had 4 mosquito bite in 5 minutes we asked to be moved inside. The teeny bopper hostess had to "check" with our waitress, apparently I needed her permission . We were seated upstairs ordered immediately and never saw our waiter again. My fried oysters were lukewarm as they were apparently waiting for my fiancé's burger. The fries were cold and I was never able to get ketchup. The only other time I saw the server he was bussing a table. There was no manager around . I got up to ask for my check paid and left. I thought maybe I would call and discuss it after I was home, no one answers the phone and you can't leave a message.

    A happy accidental find. I saw they had happy hour from open until 6pm and I knew I had to try this place. 3pm on a Saturday in August and the lower level bar was full. Only one 4-topper left...like they saved it just for us. I wanted to go upstairs because I bet it is an amazing view as this is right next to the bay but the bar wasn't open yet. Service at the 4 tables is up to you. Little sign on the table tells you to walk up to the bar if you need anything. I love it! But to be honest, the bartender made her rounds and checked on us 3 times! She was great! Happy hour menu is posted here on Yelp. Domestic beers-$2, Drafts-$3, raw oysters-$1 each, raw clams-$0.50 each. Yes. You read that correctly! I had planned on just filling up on raw oysters but as I looked around the other tables, I wanted to order the other things I saw too! Calamari-$6, bucket of fries-$3 12 oysters and something called hog wings but are really ribs. Crunchy on the outside, fall off the bone tender on the inside and a delicious sweet yet tangy sauce. I only ordered two as they were $3 a piece but wished I had a plate-load of those mouthwatering meaty ribs! I have to come back and try the blue fish dip and the giant cheeseburger! From the regular menu: shaved brussels sprouts (BS) salad-$7 and dirty brussels and bacon-$7. A very light salad with pecorino, chopped pistachios, red onion and honey vinaigrette...and so tasty! I am a new BS fan and I love them roasted with bacon and onion but this salad really rocks! The dirty BS was good. It was different as there were a lot of other things mixed in like tomatoes and little white beans. It was served hot with a hint of maybe a tomato vinaigrette. Definitely a bit pricey...I saw a 22oz ribeye steak for almost $40. I wonder if it is bone in. Don't really care. I know I am going to try it next time considering the magic done on one little rib. Happy hour. The way to go. Except when I am here, then you should eat in the dining room! :)

    We went to the restaurant with three kids (6,3,2) and we had a great time. The restaurant is beautiful. Views of the bay and sunset. Our server, Chelsea was so nice and attentive. With the kids she took our order for them right away and we were served very quickly. We ordered the blue fish dip which was really good. I wasn't sure what to expect but it is crave worthy. We also got the oysters Rockefellar and steamed clams. Very large appetizer portions, all very good. Our main course was a special, fried soft shell crabs and we also had the gumbo. The crabs were big and it was a well balanced dish with the fried crabs and a fresh cucumber and tomato salad. I really loved the seafood gumbo which was served with grits. The kids menu was a bit limited but it was fine by my kids. Large kids portions for a fair price. I really enjoyed our meal and I would definitely recommend it for families.

    Because this restaurant only has 3.5 stars on Yelp, I was hesitant to try it. However, and fortunately for us, I planned to stop for lunch on our way to Ocean City, our first stop. We were not disappointed!!! And we came back twice more during our vacation. The restaurant is gorgeous. Located right at a marina, with wonderful views of the bay. Secondly, the food is very good--really fresh fish and shellfish--and they carry a good selection of wines. If it weren't that it is pricey (especially since we are wine drinkers and this adds quite a bit of expense to meals), we would have been there more often. We will be back when we visit Ocean City.

    Been here many times by car and boat. One of the better happy hour food and drink places (4-6) with a good price on beer and a pretty good bar menu. Calamari is excellent, oysters, soup, and pork wings too. Lunch and dinner can be pricey. Lunch burger with bacon is pretty good, crab cake is okay but locals know the crab meat is foreign, as it is in most places in OC. including the crab cake factory (except Capt. Mac's next to it on Rt. 54) You may be better off with the softcrab if they have them or the fresh fish.

    Stopped here on the way from Ocean City to NYC, and it was the nicest meal of my trip. Sit outside on the top balcony if you can--they honor the happy hour deals and it has a beautiful view of the bay. I tried a bunch of dishes here to get a good sampling. To start with the "avoids": brussel sprout salad--over dressed and the parmesan was smothering; oysters-so this is a tough call because they were fresh, but a little too sandy for me, not cleaned well. I recommend the crab and squash soup, it was very creamy but not in the over powering dairy way, just a nice puree with crab chunks (though it could use more crab). I also recommend the deviled eggs on the happy hour menu; their cheap and topped with bacon and crab meet! My boyfriend got the po-boy which had big fried oysters and a nice sauce, it was quite good! The complimentary bread is also really great!

    Wifey and I decided to give this place a try today. Service was good not great. Food was okay, nothing worth coming back for. We ordered the crab dip which was served with chips and NOT a French baguette, the oyster Rockefeller was not good at all, the Brussels sprout appetizer was the most enjoyable dish of the entire meal. The scallops main entree was pretty good as well.

    We had a lovely lunch today; great oyster tacos, fish tacos and a dynamite tomato salad made with local heirloom produce where we ate every little bit of the huge offering. Good service, beautiful view overlooking the channel (where we got to watch a police boat checking crafts for life preservers and safety equipment). The downstairs has been redone with walls and ac and a huge bar overlooking the water-bright, white decor. Good, short wine list.

    My husband and I went here because we had a gift certificate. Everything was served lukewarm. The seafood Newburg is a very scant meal (the toast was the most prominent item on the plate, and the butterflied shrimp over greasy fries were not worth the money. After we told the server that our meals were not hot, she offered desserts on the house. We waited 30 minutes for the desserts to be served. The server was even embarrassed by the time it took. I would not go back. Extremely disappointed.

    We showed up to this place with a very large party and had to wait 45 minutes for a table. The bar upstairs was very accommodating. We all ordered cocktails and 3 appetizers to share. Everything I ate was absolutely on point. We ordered the calamari, crab imperial and the pimento cheese apps. We when got seated at our table, 3 of the ladies I was with decided to split a bottle of wine. We ordered some local oysters that came with meunier sauce. I split the Delaware fishboard and a salad with a friend and it was the perfect amount of food. I will remember this meal for a very long time. Great Job!

    The raw bar was excellent. Great service. The drinks were strong. They have a dock, so you can sail right up to the back door. Although it's on the water, it is a private little cove, so it's quiet and serene. The scallop ceviche was fresh and delicious.

    Popped in once for lunch and once for dinner on a recent visit to the beach. The views are lovely and the decor is modern and interesting. Their oysters on the half shell were pricey, but they were absolutely delicious. Chilled perfectly, fresh. Crab claw appetizer was also good, as was their fresh fish. The service is impeccable. Negatives -- the salads. Huge plates of uninspired greens or lettuces. And I mean, almost 100% lettuce. They could really use a little artistry and inspiration for their salads. The only other negative, and it's not big, is the pretty limited wine list. All said, I would (and most likely will) go again. I like the place.

    We chose Catch 54 to host my sister in law's bridal shower. The event coordinator was so helpful and made the reservation process so easy. She was very accommodating on the event day. The room needed very little decorating because of the amazing water views and lots of windows for everyone to enjoy. All of the guests loved the food and commented what a wonderful restaurant. I would highly recommend Catch 54 for a special event or any meal! The food, the location, the people are just first class all the way!

    The worst restaurant experience of my life. We called ahead when they opened at 4pm to ask for a reservation for a party of 13. They told us that they do not take reservations but if we came on the earlier side they would do their best to accommodate us. When we arrived at the mostly empty restaurant at 6:30pm, we were brought upstairs and told that our party must split into two tables because the maximum was 12 people per table (we had 13). No mention was made of this when we called ahead to make a reservation, despite specifying that our group had 13 people. The teenage hostess was sarcastic and condescending and refused to bend the rule to add one person, a 10 year old child, to the table and let us all sit together. The Monday night manager refused to allow our family to dine together in their nearly empty restaurant. His reason for this was that it is company policy, not a fire hazard or a state law. He refused to bend their policy to accommodate our party, which was only one person over their "limit". When we momentarily entertained the idea of splitting our party in half into a kids table and an adults table, we were told that it is also against the policy to have a kids-only table (our kids are between the ages of 10 and 18 - not toddlers).We kindly tried to reason with the manager by asking to pull up a chair on the corner for the 13th person and he maintained that he could not allow it. His utter lack of empathy and customer service forced us to leave the restaurant and we will never return. This "policy" cost an empty restaurant at least $500 of revenue on a slow Monday night. I hope upholding their rules was worth it. This is a restaurant that the 13 of us have been coming to for 5 years when we have our family reunion every summer. We have never had an issue like this before and have never heard of this policy until today. Save your money and go to another restaurant that values their customers and hires staff with some common sense.

    We went here for an early dinner and to enjoy the views of the cove. The restaurant was very open and airy. I started with the oysters which were very good. The hubby had the tuna sashimi, which was just okay - it was thinly sliced tuna wrapped around carrots and some greenery. Tuna and carrots - eh. The hubby had the swordfish which he enjoyed. I had the seared Tuna which was good but not rare enough. We ordered the girls crab mac n cheese - mistake. They didn't care for it and when I tasted it I understood why - YUCK!! We ordered them chicken fingers which they were much happier with. We also had the salt and vinegar fries which were tasty. All and all a decent but expensive meal ($137 before tip!).

    Cute spot for a light lunch and amazing view of the bay. I had the shrimp tacos. Also at our table were the crabcake sandwich, and the soft crab sandwich. Everything was presented quite well and very fresh! The newly redone dining areas are very reminiscent of being in the southwest. Stark white walls with skulls of bulls on the walls. Cool, but a bit strange in Delaware!

    Newly rebuilt, with an interesting menu, decent wine list, and raw bar Catch 54 has a lot of potential. Our top selection was a day scallop ceviche with jalapeños onion and capers that was very good. The roasted mussels were also well done, the fried calamari tender but the batter overwhelmed the flavor. Oysters were good if a bit pricey. The new space is quite pleasing - sorta upscale city chic. Nice outside seating. Where catch 54 falls down is on the service. It started with a predicted 60 min wait that was changed before we ordered drink #2. Then s strange "out of order" progression of our order. Amateurish would be a kind description. It included completely forgetting part of our order- which due the wierd backward we were served, did not realize until it was too late. This isn't just a server issue, it's mgmt, the kitchen, and inexperienced wait staff. It really detracted from an otherwise reasonably good dining experience. Hopefully they'll fix it before Catch gets caught by surprise.

    This a beautiful restaurant with amazing bay views, I usually make a trip here everytime I'm in Ocean City. Each time I come there are new drinks and specials on the menu to try. My only complaint is the inconsistency in portion sizes. I've had entrees I couldn't possibly finish myself, but also dishes that are very expensive yet small, leaving me picking off others plates. However, the food is delcious and presented nicely, will be returning!

    I cannot figure out why this restaurant has a 3.5 star rating, other than Yelp's ridiculous "algorithm." Anywho ... I'm a frequent diner at Catch 54, especially in the off-season (too hard to get in during the summer!). The food is outstanding, using seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients. When you have talented chefs and fresh ingredients, as they do at Catch 54, you don't need heavy sauces, etc. The menu is dominated by fish entrees, as you might have figured by the restaurant's name. The service is attentive, although this can be a loud environment. The restaurant was completely re-done after a fire a year or so ago, so the decor is fresh and updated. The setting is right on the water, so if you're lucky, you can have a spectacular view with your meal. Overall, a delightful place to dine.

    Everything regarding the service was great. There were 4 of us for dinner however; when our entrees arrived they were very generous except my wife's Day Boat Scallops. The portion and presentation of this dinner entrée appeared to resemble an appetizer not a dinner entrée. I would not recommend this entrée if you have an appetite.

    Came here with a friend the other night because we had tried one o ftheir sister restaurants Northeast and LOVED it. The location is phenomenal, with great views of the bay. My friend and I decided to eat outside because there wasn't a wait - the wait was 45 minutes inside despite many unoccupied tables. The decor is OK, but reminded me more of what you would find at a restaurant in the city rather than at the beach. They have a mohito special daily, so we tried the berry mohito, which was delicious and served in a cute mason jar. Unfortunately, we got the last ones because they ran out of the berries. I would have definitely had more of them! For starters, we shared the steamed clams and calamari. The calamari was phenomenal, but the clams were overcooked and very chewy. For dinner, we shared the scallops over cheesy grits and it was so so good! Highly recommend for the view - would be nice sitting outside on a cooler day over a sunset.

    I took my wife here on a weekday in the off season for lunch and we really liked this place. I know going to resort town places in the offseason can give you a false sense of how they are because they aren't crowded so you get plenty of one on one service. And hopefully your food receives the same attention in the back. I got their fish tacos and loved them. My wife was pleased with her meal as well. Our table had a decent view of the back channel and as previously mentioned the service was very attentive. The price was extremely reasonable but once again take that with a grain of salt as it was a weekday/lunch/offseason. We'll definitely go back. Just be aware that it sits at an odd place off the road and can be just a tad bit tricky to get to if you're not paying attention.

    Really a great experience and wonderful view. The four of us each tried a different fish special, and none of us was disappointed. Everything was well prepared and very fresh. Our appetizers were more hit and miss: Scallop ceviche was fanatastic, just wonderful flavor and texture all around. The tuna sashimi appetizer was also flavorful, but the spiciness was a little heavy-handed. The calamari, unfortunately, had clearly been prepared ahead of time, and was cold when it got to the table. For drinks, the Catch Crush and the Grapefruit Crush made us very happy on a hot, humid night. Service was good, anout our server worked with us on substitutions and made good suggestions. We wil come back.

    Fantastic! Service was excellent, price was good, and the food was top notch. They don't have a ton to choose from, but what they do have is of great quality. I had the fresh rockfish and my gf had a fillet. Both were cooked perfectly and tasted great, one of the best meals I've had in a while. We ended up splitting our dinners and sharing for a "surf and turf" style dinner. Next time I'm in OC I'm making a point to go here, no matter where on 1 I'm staying.

    This is an excellent restaurant! Our "go-to" choice when at the beach. We've had great service and well prepared meals on every visit. It is pricey and there may be a wait but it is worth it. Try to sit on the outside deck. They do have an excellent waiting list system which sends a text when your table is ready. I appreciated this feature. There is probably no better restaurant in the Fenwick-Bethany area.

    This had been a favorite dinner spot after several previous good experiences. However, last night's visit was not so great. Catch 54 is still one of the better restaurants in the OC/Fenwick/Bethany/Rehoboth area, but the competition is quickly overtaking it. It may be that SoDel has grown too fast, or is just cashing in. BlueCoast is one of our favorites, but we haven't been there in a while. Hopefully it's still as good as it was. Last night's dinner was so-so. $32.00 for a couple of okay crab cakes and pile of the saltiest fries I've ever had, after $19.00 for 2 drinks at the bar while waiting for a table. The mussels appetizer was horrible. Nearly half of the mussels didn't open, but were served anyway. The waitress didn't seem to notice when she cleared the plate. The Brussels Sprouts appetizer was also very salty. The halibut dish was good, but overall the meals were overpriced. After we were seated, a party of 46 started to enter the building and all of the servers disappeared from the outdoor dining area, presumably to cater to the group. Hopefully this was just a bad night for Catch 54.

    Great food, great service, great view off the back deck. Our 6:00 pm arrival allowed for seating outside and the opportunity to enjoy the view and bay breeze. By the time we left, the place was packed. Our party of eight, 4 children and 4 adults enjoyed every last morsel of food. The lobster, camp stew, swordfish, and seared tuna entrees were outstanding. The prelims which included calamari, a wasabi spiced sashimi grade tuna, and Caesar salad also were excellent. The family review was unanimous: Catch 54 is a Don't Miss.

    Came here with my family of six while vacationing in Ocean City. I guess the 20% gratuity charge meant our waitress wouldn't need to service our table at all. Catch 54 has great seafood, but service is definitely their downfall. Our waitress had no knowledge of the menu and no recommendations for us, other than to look at the "specials" printout. For an appetizer, we ordered the fried calamari and the soup of the day which were both delicious; however, the fresh bread was stone cold. For an entree, I ordered the crab macaroni and cheese which was incredibly bland and tasted like something from Panera Bread. Not something I would recommend. We also ordered a side of the vinegar fries (a boardwalk favorite) to share, disappointingly enough, they were straight from the freezer. Our waitress would just drop off our plates and run away before we could say anything. We planned on ordering the key lime pie for dessert; but our waitress was nowhere to be found. We ended up waiting twenty minutes for a different server to collect our plates and get the check. It was infuriating to pay such a large tip for the service we didn't receive. To top off this experience, after we payed the check, an employee informed us that our car was blocking someone in. We came out to find a rude note scribbled on the back of Catch 54's menu stuck to our windshield, and the car next to us too. To teach us both a "lesson," they stole the car's license plates right off. I hope they realize that this is illegal. Of course, we would have moved the car if we had just been asked. Overall, this restaurant certainly seems appealing from the outside, but I would skip out on this place. Never again.

    great atmosphere and beautiful views. loved the clean, modern decor. our meals were good. i had their crab cakes and my hubs had scallops and both dishes were very good. our kids had typical kids menu fare... chicken strips and fried shrimp, we think they were frozen dishes... so that was kind of a bummer. also.. their menu really plays up the 'salt fries' and being at the beach it is always a treat to have 'beach fries'. these seemd like frozen, not fresh cut fries! grrr. also... we noticed that for a newly (re)built restaurant there was a lack of attention to detail in the table settings. miss-matched silverware and bread & butter plates plus plastic tumblers! lame for such a chic looking joint. all in all, though, we had a good experience... good service and good food. attention to detail is missing!

    The location and view of this restaurant is amazing. I loved the old menu but now the new menu has too many fried options, not enough variety of fish options and overall the price is not worth the food. Sad to say, but we'll be choosing other local options from now on.

    Would give this 5 stars except for the noise level in the dining room. The views and food at catch 54 are wonderful. Great bay views with two stories of seating. So the four stars is for : the service is very nice. We had a nice waitress named Bigeo (I know the spelling is wrong). But very knowledgable about the food and was clear on the pros and cons of each dish so you could gauge your "feel" of those options. We started with the calamari and PEI oysters. The calamari was very good but I liked them without their sauce. They had a cheese/marina sauce which was good but took away from the best part of the calamari. Oysters were good, but they did run out of small forks. I was drinking the white wine sangria which was wonderful. Not too sweet. Blended white wine with raspberries , blueberries and blackberries, real fruit so the seeds were in the bottom of the glass. Not that weird melded fruit typically in sangria. The highlight of the night was a seared tuna - which was served over seasonal vegetables in a wonderful light sauce. The tuna melted in your mouth like butter. It was also a very generous portion (probably over 10 ounces) for 26 . Very valuable in my eyes. Each day has a fresh fish selection. I think the only weird thing was that the salmon was farm/ocean variety. So not farm hatchery. Was somewhat strange that it just wasn't wild, But from somewhere in Western Europe area. Overall, we went with a couple and did find it quite loud to talk, but if would suspect it is a more beach/bay like ambiance overall. It's a must attend when near fenwich

    Came here for my first meal after the new construction and it looked amazing! The place was bright and clean and still had all the great views as before. A s for the meal, the quality had not changed, it was still great. I started with the guac and it was amazing. We ran out of chips and they gladly gave us a big new basket of them to finish off the dip. For the entree, i got the scallops served with cheese grits (amazing) along with some veggies and tomatoes. The meal was amazing and i finished with the berry parfait, which came with yogurt, granola, and tons of blueberries and raspberries. Overall, the meal was a huge hit and i'm glad the place is still doing well after it burned down.

    I chose this restaurant after reading the reviews here and found the food okay but not as good as I expected. We were seated in the back corner of the deck against the building which was a little cramped and next to a loud party. The bread they brought us was excellent and the calamari appetizer was pretty good - not the best I've ever had but pretty good. I had the halibut and while the seasonings and accompanying veggies were very good, the fish was overcooked and dry. My boyfriend had the seafood newburgh and it was very disappointing. The portion of seafood was very small - a tiny lobster tail, two scallops and maybe one shrimp or something. The sauce on it clashed with the seafood and it was too salty. The service was fine but not outstanding. Anyway, it didn't meet our expectations so we probably won't be back but maybe some of the other dishes would have been better.

    Wow, very disappointing. We loved Catch54 in the past but they now really fall short. All they care about is padding the tab, more drinks no thanks but could we please have some bread, since we waited 75 minutes and it's been another 30 minutes since we've been seated Sure for a mere 4.00 you can have some Parker House rolls! The fish was ok, menu was limited and not what we expect from the SoDel Group! The wait staff was condescending and immature blaming bad service on the fire. Bottom line NOT What it used to be. Oh by the way would you like to add an additional tip on the 20% for a group of 6? Cuz I am so cute. Manger clueless let we never had a fine dining experience before. Worst dining experience at the beach this season!

    My wife and I went to dinner and started by ordering two cups of coffee and an appetizer of oysters stuffed with imperial crab. The waitress served up a tiny plate with three very small oysters with a small dab of crab meat on each.After tasting the tiny oyster I realized that for two coffees and three tiny oysters my bill was already over twenty dollars,and the dinner menu looked less appealing to my wallet and we decided to try another restaurant.

    We've enjoyed Catch 54 over the years and were pleased to see they reopened after the fire. We decided to try it on a Monday night, which turned out to be a good idea as there was no wait. We walked in to find 3 hostesses, neither one of which would make eye contact with us, welcome us or bring their attention to us as they were busy within their giggly conversation. Our seating came about only as a matter of inconvenience. Once seated the waitress came over immediately to take drink orders. Back to our seating, the table was wobbly so the waitress put two order folders under the leg, meanwhile our drinks were delivered. Once the drinks were on the table, the wobbling continued and one of the drinks nearly went over, the waitress was standing there at the time and said, "you can move if you want". We did move to a table with a view which as all others mention is spectacular. The waitress came over for a 5th time, all within 15 minutes of our arrival to see if we were ready to order (keep in mind all that has happened), we didn't have time yet to even look at the menu. Finally, after her 7th visit we decided to order off of the very limited menu. I was first to go. "oh, you have the lunch menu" we don't have that available now. So I quickly ( feeling rushed since I walked in) looked at dinner menu and ordered blue crab soup, so does my son, my husband order clams. Needless to say, the soup was cold and had a shred or two of crab......the waitress was over constantly to move things along, literally slid food plates on the table and continued to visit every 3-4 minutes....ugh i hate paying for such bad food and service!!! this review goes on negatively so I won't continue. We will not be back to catch 54 no matter how pretty.

    The restaurant was rebuilt after a devastating fire. I loved Catch 54when it was the old restaurant and now I love it even more. The absolute prettiest views on the bay from practically every table. The new restaurant layout and restaurant is beautiful! The same great food as before! I started with an grapefruit crush--very good! We had the house salad and the heirloom tomato special with a light vinaigrette and feta cheese. I had my usual--scallops and grits. I never had grits until a waiter at Catch 54 talked me into trying them several years ago--I am hooked! They have the best grits ever as I keep ordering and making them--not to be duplicated! My spouse had the mahi mahi--grilled to perfection and a corn medley side--perfect amount of food, felt healthy enough to head to Kohr's for ice cream at the boardwalk after dinner! The price range runs about $8-10 for appetizers and mid $20's for entrees. Nice place for a special dinner or head over one evening for happy hour and enjoy the beautiful sunset on the bay.

    YIKES!! I don't know if my family went to the correct place, but the service was ALMOST as bad as the FOOD!! Nestled on the Bay, the upstairs dining room the more formal of the two, ( I use 'formal' loosely, but it had air conditioning though) had some great views of the bay. We got a great corner table, I was surprised that a shore restaurant had such a poor selection of fresh seafood. They were out of the crab claw appetizer, which I could believe, how much closer could you be to getting them?! The waitress was very bubbly and nice, however, no points if you don't write down our order! Subtract points when you get the order WRONG!! My husband got the rib special, which was $25 for HALF a rack of dried ribs and some kind of apple slaw concoction, which I forced him to send back, the waitress even made a profound epiphany that the same entree was sent back 2 nights earlier and should be taken off the menu! CORRECT!! His reorder, of the burger was uninspiring slab of meat, but the fries were yummy! I got the lobster pasta, again, nothing to write home about- the lobster was over cooked and a bit chewy, my MIL got the fried shrimp entree and asked for mashed potatoes, but got fries instead, her diet coke glass was cracked and leaking all over the table! The busboy poured it into another glass and slapped it back in the puddle of soda on the table, he threw us some napkins after we asked to mop up the small flood. My FIL was content with his burger as well, even though it was medium well rather then medium, after observing the nonsense that we all had to go through, he considered himself lucky and ate his entree. All in all, we did not get the great experience that everyone else had, maybe I scrutinze food and service a bit more hauling from Philadelphia, home of an Iron Chef and the great multitude of neighborhood eateries, but even if I was sick with the flu and unable to taste anything, this place is not acceptable. We all longed that we ate at Harpoon Hanna's across the way through the window. Holy thumbs DOWN Yelpers!!

    What a nice restaurant! We were looking for somewhere that we hadn't tried before and we got lucky! We were seated outside upstairs on a fantastic summer evening with a great view of the bay. We quickly placed our order with our server and all was good. Service was good, food even better! My sister and I had scallops which were delicious! The rest of our group raved about their choices as well. Very enjoyable. I would like to make some suggestions as compared to complaints - our food came out too fast, we were not quite finished with our appetizers and along comes our main course, restaurant was not busy I think they should have timed it better. Seems like wait staff is on the young side and they may not realize that at a restaurant like this you want to enjoy the whole experience not rush really fast through it. One disappointment - the french fries were frozen! Sorry, that doesn't work in this type of restaurant, make it fresh or don't make it at all!

    We arrived by boat, excited to be back at Catch 54 after the fire. We entered through the deck, which had 8 open tables available. There were 5 hostesses at the hostess stand all clueless as to how to be a hostess. As if their job description was to stand there looking cute and being obnoxiousness and condescending to everyone that walked in. There was a line of people waiting to be seated, so we offered to sit outside since there were tables available. Hostess #5 took our name and said it would only be a couple of minutes, they ran out of menus. 15 minutes later, all 8 tables outside are still open and we are still standing there. We ask the hostess and she says it will just be another minute. 15 minutes later, we ask again and get the same response. The manager was just wondering around aimlessly and didn't seem to notice that these 5 incompetent girls really made the place look bad. We decided to leave and said to hostess #3&5 that they really shouldn't say just a minute if it's going to take 45 minutes to NOT seat a table of 3 at one of the 8 free tables outside. Instead we went Hannah's, where they were slammed. 3 hostesses, one taking names and two running around seating and actually doing something worthwhile. There was a 75 minute wait, which we appreciated the honesty, but were able to find a first come, first serve table by the outside bar area. We will not be returning to Catch 54... it's a shame.

    The view is great and the food was refreshing current and atypical. My only issue was all of their rules about seating, billing, and substitutions for a place run by kids wearing shorts and t-shirts. If you want to be hoity toity then have your waitstaff look professional. The salmon and crab cakes were good. The seared tuna was over cooked.

    My wife and I were staying in north Ocean City and looked to yelp for some help for picking a place for dinner. Really nice atmosphere and view overlooking the bay and the island beyond - a relief from OC. The food was quite tasty and despite a naysayer on some site, the crab cake was tasty. The desserts looked amazing but I was too full! The service was friendly and attentive but not obtrusive. Again, the view was great and watching the evening come down was worth it. Good value.

    This is a SoDel Concept Restaurant which also owns Blue Coast, Fish On and NorthEast. My family's been fans of Blue Coast for years and never tried any other SoDel restaurants. Since the beach cities were empty during the summer of 2008 because of the high gas prices, fewer visitors meant less traffic so going to Fenwick Island was not the usual evening hassle to avoid, even from nearby Bethany Beach. So the night 8 of us went to try Catch 54, the ambiance and food was comparable to the high standard of Blue Coast, but the service was painfully and surprisingly slow, yet the place was practically empty. The Blue Coast staff, on the other hand, is incredibly attentive even when filled to capacity. If this night was an anomaly, the Maitre'd had no explanation. On the plus side, you have a choice of an upstairs dining room enclosed and air conditioned with bay views, and one downstairs with the same menu right on the water's edge all open to the bay. Bottom line, if you're traveling from Rehobeth, I wouldn't drive past Blue Coast in Bethany Beach to eat here, but if you're already in Fenwick Island or Ocean City, MD 'Catch 54' could be worth checking out.

    Solid but nothing special. First the waiting situation is crazy. There is no defined waiting area. There are people standing everywhere, upstairs, in both bar areas which are tight. Tables are laid out horribly. Menu is basic but the food we enjoyed very much. Everyone in our party was happy with their meal. Service was very good. Servers were very friendly. Crab imperial dip was very good. The fish stew was also good - the broth was tasty and the fish was not over cooked which is often the case with a dish like this. We will be back.

    Overlooking Little Assawoman Bay in Fenwick Island, this long and narrow raised restaurant offers spectacular views of the water from almost every table. We started with fried baby lobster tails with a citrus teriyaki sauce. The tails were flash fried and tender. Our entrees were perfect as well, scallops on a bed of corn grits and grilled asparagus and baked crabcakes on a corn relish. We rounded out the evening with some Key Lime Pie and Apple Cobbler. Portions were good sized, not too small or too large. Wait staff was highly attentive, especially our waiter Ryan.

    Catch 54 was disappointing for us not because of the food. We had a great dinner. My husband had tuna for his entree which was delicious and I had grilled mahi mahi with grilled summer veggies also delicious. However it took over 3.5 hours to get our dinner. We waited over an hour to be seated which we understand and expected. We sat outside and enjoyed the best views of the bay but the flood lighting was too bright and ruined the outside atmosphere with bugs flying all around us. We noticed a storm rolling in and asked if they could move us. They told us the storm was moving out and we would be ok. Right as our food was to be served the sky opened up and poured rain. The server put our food on the bar and left us to fend for ourselves to find a seat at the bar which was all ready jammed packed. My husband was told they were working on a table 30 minutes later we were seated 30 more minutes we got our dinner. We know this happens and we were more than patient however Catch 54 should plan for inclement weather especially when storm warnings are posted . This whole experience just left me with a bad impression of the management. What would of been nice if the manager would of attempted to apologise to us instead of us asking to speak to him. In the end the food was good and we will chalk it up to growing pains! And dumb luck!

    We went with two other couples, had a wonderful table overlooking the water and attentive service. Everyone agreed food was good, not great, and a couple of the party had eaten at the same location, different name, and thought it had been better back then. Fish and chips was good but nothing exceptional. The salads were fresh and good, and attention was paid to requests. But I agree with another reviewer: What's with no separate checks? The least they could do is split it out for their guests. It would be a service to the diners if at the end they didn't have to have calculators in hand as they determine Frank had three drinks and coffee and dessert and Sue had just an appetizer and now who owes what? Also, why no substitutuions? Why should I have to have grits when I want potatoes just because the chef had "paired appropriately" as I was told in another restaurant. I prefer Blue Coast where I have never had a bad meal or attitude (not that our waitress had one, she was delightful and even kindly reminded us that a 20% tip had already been added to our bill. It appears that it is management that is a bit above itself here)

    Cute spot for a light lunch and amazing view of the bay. I had the shrimp tacos. Also at our table were the crabcake sandwich, and the soft crab sandwich. Everything was presented quite well and very fresh! The newly redone dining areas are very reminiscent of being in the southwest. Stark white walls with skulls of bulls on the walls. Cool, but a bit strange in Delaware!

    Newly rebuilt, with an interesting menu, decent wine list, and raw bar Catch 54 has a lot of potential. Our top selection was a day scallop ceviche with jalapeños onion and capers that was very good. The roasted mussels were also well done, the fried calamari tender but the batter overwhelmed the flavor. Oysters were good if a bit pricey. The new space is quite pleasing - sorta upscale city chic. Nice outside seating. Where catch 54 falls down is on the service. It started with a predicted 60 min wait that was changed before we ordered drink #2. Then s strange "out of order" progression of our order. Amateurish would be a kind description. It included completely forgetting part of our order- which due the wierd backward we were served, did not realize until it was too late. This isn't just a server issue, it's mgmt, the kitchen, and inexperienced wait staff. It really detracted from an otherwise reasonably good dining experience. Hopefully they'll fix it before Catch gets caught by surprise.

    This a beautiful restaurant with amazing bay views, I usually make a trip here everytime I'm in Ocean City. Each time I come there are new drinks and specials on the menu to try. My only complaint is the inconsistency in portion sizes. I've had entrees I couldn't possibly finish myself, but also dishes that are very expensive yet small, leaving me picking off others plates. However, the food is delcious and presented nicely, will be returning!

    I cannot figure out why this restaurant has a 3.5 star rating, other than Yelp's ridiculous "algorithm." Anywho ... I'm a frequent diner at Catch 54, especially in the off-season (too hard to get in during the summer!). The food is outstanding, using seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients. When you have talented chefs and fresh ingredients, as they do at Catch 54, you don't need heavy sauces, etc. The menu is dominated by fish entrees, as you might have figured by the restaurant's name. The service is attentive, although this can be a loud environment. The restaurant was completely re-done after a fire a year or so ago, so the decor is fresh and updated. The setting is right on the water, so if you're lucky, you can have a spectacular view with your meal. Overall, a delightful place to dine.

    Popped in once for lunch and once for dinner on a recent visit to the beach. The views are lovely and the decor is modern and interesting. Their oysters on the half shell were pricey, but they were absolutely delicious. Chilled perfectly, fresh. Crab claw appetizer was also good, as was their fresh fish. The service is impeccable. Negatives -- the salads. Huge plates of uninspired greens or lettuces. And I mean, almost 100% lettuce. They could really use a little artistry and inspiration for their salads. The only other negative, and it's not big, is the pretty limited wine list. All said, I would (and most likely will) go again. I like the place.

After dining at 99 Sea Level in Bethany Beach and being disappointed the night before, we were so pleased to take our guests to a place with high standards which never disappoints.     We been to Catch 54 many times over the years and have always enjoyed our meals. Unfortunately, our dinner last night didn't live up to past experiences. First warning sign was no wait checking in at 6:15pm, the place was maybe 2/3rds full in-season. We were seated on an outside table. Both tables on either side of us, had issues with their food and were complaining to the manager. We ordered salads and mains. No issues with the salads, all came out quickly and were great. The mains were another issue. Those didn't come out for another 45min and of mixed quality. Bland crab mac&cheese, cold fries, undercooked fish, etc. My seafood stew was good. But overall, we weren't happy and let the manager know. I'm hoping this was just a bad night. We have always liked Catch 54 and would like it to return to form.

    Have visited Catch 54 each of the last two years while vacationing in Ocean City, MD from Phoenix. I go exclusively for the Buck-a-shuck oyster happy hour, which cannot be beat. Fresh, delicious, local oysters at a great price. The staff are exceedingly friendly- from the manager Loren to the bartender and the shucker. Had a great time there with my dad eating oysters and drinking great local beer- can't wait until next July when I can eat here again. Have to beat my record of 60 oysters at one sitting. If you're in the area- gotta hit this gem.

Food is consistently good, but the menu hasn't changed at all in 3 years, which is especially noticeable to a non-fish or seafood eater like myself. I would like an option besides steak, please! View is fantastic! Sit outside at sunset. Bartenders are great.

    We had a lovely lunch today; great oyster tacos, fish tacos and a dynamite tomato salad made with local heirloom produce where we ate every little bit of the huge offering. Good service, beautiful view overlooking the channel (where we got to watch a police boat checking crafts for life preservers and safety equipment). The downstairs has been redone with walls and ac and a huge bar overlooking the water-bright, white decor. Good, short wine list.

    I visited Catch 54 twice this summer. One was an amazing experience on a Saturday night in July, the last was the Sunday before Memorial Day. Saturday in July was awesome, my husband and I shared the calamari and shaved brussel sprouts as an app, and split a burger. Everything was excellent, including the drinks. We wanted to wrap up summer with a meal at Catch 54 on Sunday, September 6th and could not believe this was the same restaurant. We started with the calamari, which was way undercooked. For our meals, my husband had the swordfish, which was okay - pretty dry and tasteless.. nothing special but certainly not worth the price. I tried the scallops, which the waitress said "was the top-selling dish". What a disappointment. The entire entree was disgusting. Soggy, mushy brussel sprouts and bacon, some sort of watered down corn mixture, and soggy and tasteless scallops. For $32.. seriously, this was just awful. Luckily my kids didn't starve as they had pasta, which was the best tasting meal on the table. Catch 54 needs to get its act together and be way more consistent. Competition for good seafood in the area will put this restaurant to shame.

    One of the best food places in Fenwick Island! Really cool restaurant and very good food. When my wife and I lived down there we would eat here pretty often. A little pricey in season but also have great specials off season. Decor is modern and comfy. Food is always good. Amazing fresh fish, also very tasty steaks. Good wine list, full bar. Great views and outdoor seating. Service is pretty good! Can be long waits when in season.

    Great place with a beautiful view! We were there in August and sat upstairs after about a 15 minute wait. The food was fantastic, as were the drinks. A little pricey but very nice. Get the shrimp and grits they were fabulous! The only reason why it's not 5 stars is because our waitress wasn't very good. She was pretty spacey (her name was Alexa?) and didn't take our dinner over until after we finished our appetizer (could have just been the way they do it). Twice we had to ask another server for something, other than that small fret it was a great experience.

    The salmon at Catch 54 is outstanding. It melts is your mouth. Seared the outside and tender on the inside. They are masters at cooking salmon and set the bar as to how all salmon should be cooked. Go before sun sets to enjoy the beautiful views.

    This is now our favorite restaurant in the Bethany/Fenwick area. Food is great - raw oysters are as fresh as they come, entrees are all amazing and desserts are wonderful too., The view of the bay during sunset is priceless especially if you sit at a table upstairs. They also have a great happy hour. Bartenders and the oyster schucker are friendly and have been there the past 2 seasons so they very experienced. This is definitely the place to go if you want a nice dining experience after a good day at the beach.

    I have been to this restaurant several times and was always pleased with the experience until tonight. I waited about 20 minutes and was seated in a dark corner table on the deck. We ordered 2 club sodas as we already had cocktails in the bar. After we both had 4 mosquito bite in 5 minutes we asked to be moved inside. The teeny bopper hostess had to "check" with our waitress, apparently I needed her permission . We were seated upstairs ordered immediately and never saw our waiter again. My fried oysters were lukewarm as they were apparently waiting for my fiancé's burger. The fries were cold and I was never able to get ketchup. The only other time I saw the server he was bussing a table. There was no manager around . I got up to ask for my check paid and left. I thought maybe I would call and discuss it after I was home, no one answers the phone and you can't leave a message.

    A happy accidental find. I saw they had happy hour from open until 6pm and I knew I had to try this place. 3pm on a Saturday in August and the lower level bar was full. Only one 4-topper left...like they saved it just for us. I wanted to go upstairs because I bet it is an amazing view as this is right next to the bay but the bar wasn't open yet. Service at the 4 tables is up to you. Little sign on the table tells you to walk up to the bar if you need anything. I love it! But to be honest, the bartender made her rounds and checked on us 3 times! She was great! Happy hour menu is posted here on Yelp. Domestic beers-$2, Drafts-$3, raw oysters-$1 each, raw clams-$0.50 each. Yes. You read that correctly! I had planned on just filling up on raw oysters but as I looked around the other tables, I wanted to order the other things I saw too! Calamari-$6, bucket of fries-$3 12 oysters and something called hog wings but are really ribs. Crunchy on the outside, fall off the bone tender on the inside and a delicious sweet yet tangy sauce. I only ordered two as they were $3 a piece but wished I had a plate-load of those mouthwatering meaty ribs! I have to come back and try the blue fish dip and the giant cheeseburger! From the regular menu: shaved brussels sprouts (BS) salad-$7 and dirty brussels and bacon-$7. A very light salad with pecorino, chopped pistachios, red onion and honey vinaigrette...and so tasty! I am a new BS fan and I love them roasted with bacon and onion but this salad really rocks! The dirty BS was good. It was different as there were a lot of other things mixed in like tomatoes and little white beans. It was served hot with a hint of maybe a tomato vinaigrette. Definitely a bit pricey...I saw a 22oz ribeye steak for almost $40. I wonder if it is bone in. Don't really care. I know I am going to try it next time considering the magic done on one little rib. Happy hour. The way to go. Except when I am here, then you should eat in the dining room! :)

    We went to the restaurant with three kids (6,3,2) and we had a great time. The restaurant is beautiful. Views of the bay and sunset. Our server, Chelsea was so nice and attentive. With the kids she took our order for them right away and we were served very quickly. We ordered the blue fish dip which was really good. I wasn't sure what to expect but it is crave worthy. We also got the oysters Rockefellar and steamed clams. Very large appetizer portions, all very good. Our main course was a special, fried soft shell crabs and we also had the gumbo. The crabs were big and it was a well balanced dish with the fried crabs and a fresh cucumber and tomato salad. I really loved the seafood gumbo which was served with grits. The kids menu was a bit limited but it was fine by my kids. Large kids portions for a fair price. I really enjoyed our meal and I would definitely recommend it for families.

    Because this restaurant only has 3.5 stars on Yelp, I was hesitant to try it. However, and fortunately for us, I planned to stop for lunch on our way to Ocean City, our first stop. We were not disappointed!!! And we came back twice more during our vacation. The restaurant is gorgeous. Located right at a marina, with wonderful views of the bay. Secondly, the food is very good--really fresh fish and shellfish--and they carry a good selection of wines. If it weren't that it is pricey (especially since we are wine drinkers and this adds quite a bit of expense to meals), we would have been there more often. We will be back when we visit Ocean City.

    Been here many times by car and boat. One of the better happy hour food and drink places (4-6) with a good price on beer and a pretty good bar menu. Calamari is excellent, oysters, soup, and pork wings too. Lunch and dinner can be pricey. Lunch burger with bacon is pretty good, crab cake is okay but locals know the crab meat is foreign, as it is in most places in OC. including the crab cake factory (except Capt. Mac's next to it on Rt. 54) You may be better off with the softcrab if they have them or the fresh fish.

    Stopped here on the way from Ocean City to NYC, and it was the nicest meal of my trip. Sit outside on the top balcony if you can--they honor the happy hour deals and it has a beautiful view of the bay. I tried a bunch of dishes here to get a good sampling. To start with the "avoids": brussel sprout salad--over dressed and the parmesan was smothering; oysters-so this is a tough call because they were fresh, but a little too sandy for me, not cleaned well. I recommend the crab and squash soup, it was very creamy but not in the over powering dairy way, just a nice puree with crab chunks (though it could use more crab). I also recommend the deviled eggs on the happy hour menu; their cheap and topped with bacon and crab meet! My boyfriend got the po-boy which had big fried oysters and a nice sauce, it was quite good! The complimentary bread is also really great!

    Wifey and I decided to give this place a try today. Service was good not great. Food was okay, nothing worth coming back for. We ordered the crab dip which was served with chips and NOT a French baguette, the oyster Rockefeller was not good at all, the Brussels sprout appetizer was the most enjoyable dish of the entire meal. The scallops main entree was pretty good as well.

    Dined here for my dad's birthday dinner. I was coming from DC area, so I picked this restaurant based on the menu posted on their website. Unfortunately, they haven't updated their website and they didn't have some of the menu items. Strike one. It was also freezing upstairs. I have been here before and it was pretty good. Overall it was good, not great. We all were there to celebrate so we made the best of it. Deviled eggs were good. I liked the fried oyster with it. The scrapple was a joke...barely there. The beet salad would have been better if the goat cheese wasn't cold and hard. The oysters rockefeller was good. My dad said the short ribs were good but slightly overcooked. My mom had the shrimp and grits, so not sure. I didn't get to try it. Worth trying once, but I would prefer to dine somewhere else next time. Nice view.

    Sunday specials are awesome ! We skipped that..... Husband got the salmon dinner , I had the short rib dinner. On point every time ! The shaved Brussels salad had to be the best salad I ever had . Just the right amount of dressing! Not sure I will be able to duplicate it @ home ! Why bother, the views are so incredible ! Love it here !

    So, in reality I love this place. Nice wine list, good raw bar and maybe, just maybe the best soft shells at the beach. The view is awesome the decor is crisp and clean. Really, what more do you need? The bartenders are friendly and remember you as does the wait staff. All in all this place is a win. And the key lime pie is as good as ever

    I want to love this place. I really do. I mean, it's got a beautiful waterfront location, it's in Fenwick Island so it's really close by, the staff is friendly and remembers my name (benefits of being a beach bum, I suppose), and the actual space is beautiful. What's wrong? The food. The first time I went I ordered raw bar items, and felt really meh about them. Even the cold lobster claws were just OK, although the sauce they were with was good. The second time I went, I ordered the softshells with a salad. SoDel restaurants use local Delaware produce in their salads and make their dressings in house, so the salad was delicious. The softshells were really underwhelming. It was the batter; it was just normal, not anything special, and kind of covered up the actual taste of crab. Dessert was some kind of brownie sundae concoction. I should have mentioned before that the night I went it was around 96 degrees outside. Not sure if the AC wasn't working but the restaurant felt almost just as warm plus humidity. As a result, I got the thing almost completely melted. Service is friendly, esp. Jamie at the upstairs bar. I heard their menu was better before the fire. It sucks that most of the beach restaurants I really enjoy (Just Hooked, Nantuckets, Northeast) do not have great views, although Bluecoast is a notable exception. SoDel has proven they can make delicious food, now they just need to get it together at Catch 54 and wow people with creative cuisine and beautiful bay views.

    To be honest, this was our third choice dinner spot for the evening (the two others were full), but I am glad we ended up here. It was busy when we arrived around 7pm on a Wednesday night, but we were seated almost immediately. The décor is VERY sparse, but it's still nice. The walls are stark white and there are cow skulls hanging on the wall (which is strange, considering this is more of a seafood place). We sat inside, but there is also nice seating on a spacious deck outside. The view of the bay is great. Drink selection was decent. Some got some tasty chardonnay. My sister's grapefruit cocktail was delicious. The tap selection was small, but solid: Dogfish Head 60 Minute, Evolution Porter, Coors Light, etc. Appetizers: Avoid the lobster sliders ($14). They have so much mayonnaise and the bread is unappealing. Our other choices were much better though. Delaware Blue Crab Soup ($7) was tasty; had a bit more tomato than your average crab soup. The table gets some sweet and buttery bread. Dip it in the soup and you will be a happy camper. The clam and crab casino ($9) was amazing. Moist crab and tender clams were great. Crab claws were good. The meat was succulent, but there wasn't a ton of it. Strangely, not all your appetizers will come out at the same time. The raw bar and the kitchen are independent so we got our crab claws a good 5 minutes later than the other apps. The entrees came out fairly quickly. I had the Seafood Gumbo ($26). It had fried oysters, shrimp, scallops, sausage, okra, and cheese grits. It was great. Oysters were delicious, sausage was spicy, and the scallops were fantastic. They were tender, not spongy like poorly prepared scallops often are. Crab cake entrée ($32) was very good as well. They were slightly under-seasoned, but came with a great Dijon sauce. Fried just right. Soft shell crab dish was good too. Best meal of the night was the seared tuna off the specials menu. The outside was crusty with pepper and herbs. The inside was rare and buttery smooth. Gourmet filet mignons wish they were half as tender as this tuna. Accompanying veggies, sautéed zucchini and squash, were awesome too. We had a great meal at Catch 54 and I hope to come back next time I'm at the beach.

    The worst restaurant experience of my life. We called ahead when they opened at 4pm to ask for a reservation for a party of 13. They told us that they do not take reservations but if we came on the earlier side they would do their best to accommodate us. When we arrived at the mostly empty restaurant at 6:30pm, we were brought upstairs and told that our party must split into two tables because the maximum was 12 people per table (we had 13). No mention was made of this when we called ahead to make a reservation, despite specifying that our group had 13 people. The teenage hostess was sarcastic and condescending and refused to bend the rule to add one person, a 10 year old child, to the table and let us all sit together. The Monday night manager refused to allow our family to dine together in their nearly empty restaurant. His reason for this was that it is company policy, not a fire hazard or a state law. He refused to bend their policy to accommodate our party, which was only one person over their "limit". When we momentarily entertained the idea of splitting our party in half into a kids table and an adults table, we were told that it is also against the policy to have a kids-only table (our kids are between the ages of 10 and 18 - not toddlers).We kindly tried to reason with the manager by asking to pull up a chair on the corner for the 13th person and he maintained that he could not allow it. His utter lack of empathy and customer service forced us to leave the restaurant and we will never return. This "policy" cost an empty restaurant at least $500 of revenue on a slow Monday night. I hope upholding their rules was worth it. This is a restaurant that the 13 of us have been coming to for 5 years when we have our family reunion every summer. We have never had an issue like this before and have never heard of this policy until today. Save your money and go to another restaurant that values their customers and hires staff with some common sense.

    We went here for an early dinner and to enjoy the views of the cove. The restaurant was very open and airy. I started with the oysters which were very good. The hubby had the tuna sashimi, which was just okay - it was thinly sliced tuna wrapped around carrots and some greenery. Tuna and carrots - eh. The hubby had the swordfish which he enjoyed. I had the seared Tuna which was good but not rare enough. We ordered the girls crab mac n cheese - mistake. They didn't care for it and when I tasted it I understood why - YUCK!! We ordered them chicken fingers which they were much happier with. We also had the salt and vinegar fries which were tasty. All and all a decent but expensive meal ($137 before tip!).

    Came here with a friend the other night because we had tried one o ftheir sister restaurants Northeast and LOVED it. The location is phenomenal, with great views of the bay. My friend and I decided to eat outside because there wasn't a wait - the wait was 45 minutes inside despite many unoccupied tables. The decor is OK, but reminded me more of what you would find at a restaurant in the city rather than at the beach. They have a mohito special daily, so we tried the berry mohito, which was delicious and served in a cute mason jar. Unfortunately, we got the last ones because they ran out of the berries. I would have definitely had more of them! For starters, we shared the steamed clams and calamari. The calamari was phenomenal, but the clams were overcooked and very chewy. For dinner, we shared the scallops over cheesy grits and it was so so good! Highly recommend for the view - would be nice sitting outside on a cooler day over a sunset.

    I took my wife here on a weekday in the off season for lunch and we really liked this place. I know going to resort town places in the offseason can give you a false sense of how they are because they aren't crowded so you get plenty of one on one service. And hopefully your food receives the same attention in the back. I got their fish tacos and loved them. My wife was pleased with her meal as well. Our table had a decent view of the back channel and as previously mentioned the service was very attentive. The price was extremely reasonable but once again take that with a grain of salt as it was a weekday/lunch/offseason. We'll definitely go back. Just be aware that it sits at an odd place off the road and can be just a tad bit tricky to get to if you're not paying attention.

    My husband and I went here because we had a gift certificate. Everything was served lukewarm. The seafood Newburg is a very scant meal (the toast was the most prominent item on the plate, and the butterflied shrimp over greasy fries were not worth the money. After we told the server that our meals were not hot, she offered desserts on the house. We waited 30 minutes for the desserts to be served. The server was even embarrassed by the time it took. I would not go back. Extremely disappointed.

    We showed up to this place with a very large party and had to wait 45 minutes for a table. The bar upstairs was very accommodating. We all ordered cocktails and 3 appetizers to share. Everything I ate was absolutely on point. We ordered the calamari, crab imperial and the pimento cheese apps. We when got seated at our table, 3 of the ladies I was with decided to split a bottle of wine. We ordered some local oysters that came with meunier sauce. I split the Delaware fishboard and a salad with a friend and it was the perfect amount of food. I will remember this meal for a very long time. Great Job!

    The raw bar was excellent. Great service. The drinks were strong. They have a dock, so you can sail right up to the back door. Although it's on the water, it is a private little cove, so it's quiet and serene. The scallop ceviche was fresh and delicious.

    We chose Catch 54 to host my sister in law's bridal shower. The event coordinator was so helpful and made the reservation process so easy. She was very accommodating on the event day. The room needed very little decorating because of the amazing water views and lots of windows for everyone to enjoy. All of the guests loved the food and commented what a wonderful restaurant. I would highly recommend Catch 54 for a special event or any meal! The food, the location, the people are just first class all the way!

    Really a great experience and wonderful view. The four of us each tried a different fish special, and none of us was disappointed. Everything was well prepared and very fresh. Our appetizers were more hit and miss: Scallop ceviche was fanatastic, just wonderful flavor and texture all around. The tuna sashimi appetizer was also flavorful, but the spiciness was a little heavy-handed. The calamari, unfortunately, had clearly been prepared ahead of time, and was cold when it got to the table. For drinks, the Catch Crush and the Grapefruit Crush made us very happy on a hot, humid night. Service was good, anout our server worked with us on substitutions and made good suggestions. We wil come back.

    Fantastic! Service was excellent, price was good, and the food was top notch. They don't have a ton to choose from, but what they do have is of great quality. I had the fresh rockfish and my gf had a fillet. Both were cooked perfectly and tasted great, one of the best meals I've had in a while. We ended up splitting our dinners and sharing for a "surf and turf" style dinner. Next time I'm in OC I'm making a point to go here, no matter where on 1 I'm staying.

    This is an excellent restaurant! Our "go-to" choice when at the beach. We've had great service and well prepared meals on every visit. It is pricey and there may be a wait but it is worth it. Try to sit on the outside deck. They do have an excellent waiting list system which sends a text when your table is ready. I appreciated this feature. There is probably no better restaurant in the Fenwick-Bethany area.

    Solid but nothing special. First the waiting situation is crazy. There is no defined waiting area. There are people standing everywhere, upstairs, in both bar areas which are tight. Tables are laid out horribly. Menu is basic but the food we enjoyed very much. Everyone in our party was happy with their meal. Service was very good. Servers were very friendly. Crab imperial dip was very good. The fish stew was also good - the broth was tasty and the fish was not over cooked which is often the case with a dish like this. We will be back.

    This had been a favorite dinner spot after several previous good experiences. However, last night's visit was not so great. Catch 54 is still one of the better restaurants in the OC/Fenwick/Bethany/Rehoboth area, but the competition is quickly overtaking it. It may be that SoDel has grown too fast, or is just cashing in. BlueCoast is one of our favorites, but we haven't been there in a while. Hopefully it's still as good as it was. Last night's dinner was so-so. $32.00 for a couple of okay crab cakes and pile of the saltiest fries I've ever had, after $19.00 for 2 drinks at the bar while waiting for a table. The mussels appetizer was horrible. Nearly half of the mussels didn't open, but were served anyway. The waitress didn't seem to notice when she cleared the plate. The Brussels Sprouts appetizer was also very salty. The halibut dish was good, but overall the meals were overpriced. After we were seated, a party of 46 started to enter the building and all of the servers disappeared from the outdoor dining area, presumably to cater to the group. Hopefully this was just a bad night for Catch 54.

    Great food, great service, great view off the back deck. Our 6:00 pm arrival allowed for seating outside and the opportunity to enjoy the view and bay breeze. By the time we left, the place was packed. Our party of eight, 4 children and 4 adults enjoyed every last morsel of food. The lobster, camp stew, swordfish, and seared tuna entrees were outstanding. The prelims which included calamari, a wasabi spiced sashimi grade tuna, and Caesar salad also were excellent. The family review was unanimous: Catch 54 is a Don't Miss.

    Came here with my family of six while vacationing in Ocean City. I guess the 20% gratuity charge meant our waitress wouldn't need to service our table at all. Catch 54 has great seafood, but service is definitely their downfall. Our waitress had no knowledge of the menu and no recommendations for us, other than to look at the "specials" printout. For an appetizer, we ordered the fried calamari and the soup of the day which were both delicious; however, the fresh bread was stone cold. For an entree, I ordered the crab macaroni and cheese which was incredibly bland and tasted like something from Panera Bread. Not something I would recommend. We also ordered a side of the vinegar fries (a boardwalk favorite) to share, disappointingly enough, they were straight from the freezer. Our waitress would just drop off our plates and run away before we could say anything. We planned on ordering the key lime pie for dessert; but our waitress was nowhere to be found. We ended up waiting twenty minutes for a different server to collect our plates and get the check. It was infuriating to pay such a large tip for the service we didn't receive. To top off this experience, after we payed the check, an employee informed us that our car was blocking someone in. We came out to find a rude note scribbled on the back of Catch 54's menu stuck to our windshield, and the car next to us too. To teach us both a "lesson," they stole the car's license plates right off. I hope they realize that this is illegal. Of course, we would have moved the car if we had just been asked. Overall, this restaurant certainly seems appealing from the outside, but I would skip out on this place. Never again.

    Would give this 5 stars except for the noise level in the dining room. The views and food at catch 54 are wonderful. Great bay views with two stories of seating. So the four stars is for : the service is very nice. We had a nice waitress named Bigeo (I know the spelling is wrong). But very knowledgable about the food and was clear on the pros and cons of each dish so you could gauge your "feel" of those options. We started with the calamari and PEI oysters. The calamari was very good but I liked them without their sauce. They had a cheese/marina sauce which was good but took away from the best part of the calamari. Oysters were good, but they did run out of small forks. I was drinking the white wine sangria which was wonderful. Not too sweet. Blended white wine with raspberries , blueberries and blackberries, real fruit so the seeds were in the bottom of the glass. Not that weird melded fruit typically in sangria. The highlight of the night was a seared tuna - which was served over seasonal vegetables in a wonderful light sauce. The tuna melted in your mouth like butter. It was also a very generous portion (probably over 10 ounces) for 26 . Very valuable in my eyes. Each day has a fresh fish selection. I think the only weird thing was that the salmon was farm/ocean variety. So not farm hatchery. Was somewhat strange that it just wasn't wild, But from somewhere in Western Europe area. Overall, we went with a couple and did find it quite loud to talk, but if would suspect it is a more beach/bay like ambiance overall. It's a must attend when near fenwich

    Came here for my first meal after the new construction and it looked amazing! The place was bright and clean and still had all the great views as before. A s for the meal, the quality had not changed, it was still great. I started with the guac and it was amazing. We ran out of chips and they gladly gave us a big new basket of them to finish off the dip. For the entree, i got the scallops served with cheese grits (amazing) along with some veggies and tomatoes. The meal was amazing and i finished with the berry parfait, which came with yogurt, granola, and tons of blueberries and raspberries. Overall, the meal was a huge hit and i'm glad the place is still doing well after it burned down.

    Everything regarding the service was great. There were 4 of us for dinner however; when our entrees arrived they were very generous except my wife's Day Boat Scallops. The portion and presentation of this dinner entrée appeared to resemble an appetizer not a dinner entrée. I would not recommend this entrée if you have an appetite.

    Great Happy Hour, appetizers were delicious. Very friendly staff, the service was terrific and the view can't be beat. Would definitely come back, looking forward to having dinner at Catch 54. Food reasonably priced and high quality.

    I chose this restaurant after reading the reviews here and found the food okay but not as good as I expected. We were seated in the back corner of the deck against the building which was a little cramped and next to a loud party. The bread they brought us was excellent and the calamari appetizer was pretty good - not the best I've ever had but pretty good. I had the halibut and while the seasonings and accompanying veggies were very good, the fish was overcooked and dry. My boyfriend had the seafood newburgh and it was very disappointing. The portion of seafood was very small - a tiny lobster tail, two scallops and maybe one shrimp or something. The sauce on it clashed with the seafood and it was too salty. The service was fine but not outstanding. Anyway, it didn't meet our expectations so we probably won't be back but maybe some of the other dishes would have been better.

    Wow, very disappointing. We loved Catch54 in the past but they now really fall short. All they care about is padding the tab, more drinks no thanks but could we please have some bread, since we waited 75 minutes and it's been another 30 minutes since we've been seated Sure for a mere 4.00 you can have some Parker House rolls! The fish was ok, menu was limited and not what we expect from the SoDel Group! The wait staff was condescending and immature blaming bad service on the fire. Bottom line NOT What it used to be. Oh by the way would you like to add an additional tip on the 20% for a group of 6? Cuz I am so cute. Manger clueless let we never had a fine dining experience before. Worst dining experience at the beach this season!

    We've enjoyed Catch 54 over the years and were pleased to see they reopened after the fire. We decided to try it on a Monday night, which turned out to be a good idea as there was no wait. We walked in to find 3 hostesses, neither one of which would make eye contact with us, welcome us or bring their attention to us as they were busy within their giggly conversation. Our seating came about only as a matter of inconvenience. Once seated the waitress came over immediately to take drink orders. Back to our seating, the table was wobbly so the waitress put two order folders under the leg, meanwhile our drinks were delivered. Once the drinks were on the table, the wobbling continued and one of the drinks nearly went over, the waitress was standing there at the time and said, "you can move if you want". We did move to a table with a view which as all others mention is spectacular. The waitress came over for a 5th time, all within 15 minutes of our arrival to see if we were ready to order (keep in mind all that has happened), we didn't have time yet to even look at the menu. Finally, after her 7th visit we decided to order off of the very limited menu. I was first to go. "oh, you have the lunch menu" we don't have that available now. So I quickly ( feeling rushed since I walked in) looked at dinner menu and ordered blue crab soup, so does my son, my husband order clams. Needless to say, the soup was cold and had a shred or two of crab......the waitress was over constantly to move things along, literally slid food plates on the table and continued to visit every 3-4 minutes....ugh i hate paying for such bad food and service!!! this review goes on negatively so I won't continue. We will not be back to catch 54 no matter how pretty.

    The restaurant was rebuilt after a devastating fire. I loved Catch 54when it was the old restaurant and now I love it even more. The absolute prettiest views on the bay from practically every table. The new restaurant layout and restaurant is beautiful! The same great food as before! I started with an grapefruit crush--very good! We had the house salad and the heirloom tomato special with a light vinaigrette and feta cheese. I had my usual--scallops and grits. I never had grits until a waiter at Catch 54 talked me into trying them several years ago--I am hooked! They have the best grits ever as I keep ordering and making them--not to be duplicated! My spouse had the mahi mahi--grilled to perfection and a corn medley side--perfect amount of food, felt healthy enough to head to Kohr's for ice cream at the boardwalk after dinner! The price range runs about $8-10 for appetizers and mid $20's for entrees. Nice place for a special dinner or head over one evening for happy hour and enjoy the beautiful sunset on the bay.

    The view is great and the food was refreshing current and atypical. My only issue was all of their rules about seating, billing, and substitutions for a place run by kids wearing shorts and t-shirts. If you want to be hoity toity then have your waitstaff look professional. The salmon and crab cakes were good. The seared tuna was over cooked.

    YIKES!! I don't know if my family went to the correct place, but the service was ALMOST as bad as the FOOD!! Nestled on the Bay, the upstairs dining room the more formal of the two, ( I use 'formal' loosely, but it had air conditioning though) had some great views of the bay. We got a great corner table, I was surprised that a shore restaurant had such a poor selection of fresh seafood. They were out of the crab claw appetizer, which I could believe, how much closer could you be to getting them?! The waitress was very bubbly and nice, however, no points if you don't write down our order! Subtract points when you get the order WRONG!! My husband got the rib special, which was $25 for HALF a rack of dried ribs and some kind of apple slaw concoction, which I forced him to send back, the waitress even made a profound epiphany that the same entree was sent back 2 nights earlier and should be taken off the menu! CORRECT!! His reorder, of the burger was uninspiring slab of meat, but the fries were yummy! I got the lobster pasta, again, nothing to write home about- the lobster was over cooked and a bit chewy, my MIL got the fried shrimp entree and asked for mashed potatoes, but got fries instead, her diet coke glass was cracked and leaking all over the table! The busboy poured it into another glass and slapped it back in the puddle of soda on the table, he threw us some napkins after we asked to mop up the small flood. My FIL was content with his burger as well, even though it was medium well rather then medium, after observing the nonsense that we all had to go through, he considered himself lucky and ate his entree. All in all, we did not get the great experience that everyone else had, maybe I scrutinze food and service a bit more hauling from Philadelphia, home of an Iron Chef and the great multitude of neighborhood eateries, but even if I was sick with the flu and unable to taste anything, this place is not acceptable. We all longed that we ate at Harpoon Hanna's across the way through the window. Holy thumbs DOWN Yelpers!!

    Welcome break from the cheapo stuffed fish on the wall vibe at most other delaware joints. Beautiful clean modern interiors with an INCREDIBLE view. very good service and very good food but kinda pricy.

    great atmosphere and beautiful views. loved the clean, modern decor. our meals were good. i had their crab cakes and my hubs had scallops and both dishes were very good. our kids had typical kids menu fare... chicken strips and fried shrimp, we think they were frozen dishes... so that was kind of a bummer. also.. their menu really plays up the 'salt fries' and being at the beach it is always a treat to have 'beach fries'. these seemd like frozen, not fresh cut fries! grrr. also... we noticed that for a newly (re)built restaurant there was a lack of attention to detail in the table settings. miss-matched silverware and bread & butter plates plus plastic tumblers! lame for such a chic looking joint. all in all, though, we had a good experience... good service and good food. attention to detail is missing!

    The location and view of this restaurant is amazing. I loved the old menu but now the new menu has too many fried options, not enough variety of fish options and overall the price is not worth the food. Sad to say, but we'll be choosing other local options from now on.

    What a nice restaurant! We were looking for somewhere that we hadn't tried before and we got lucky! We were seated outside upstairs on a fantastic summer evening with a great view of the bay. We quickly placed our order with our server and all was good. Service was good, food even better! My sister and I had scallops which were delicious! The rest of our group raved about their choices as well. Very enjoyable. I would like to make some suggestions as compared to complaints - our food came out too fast, we were not quite finished with our appetizers and along comes our main course, restaurant was not busy I think they should have timed it better. Seems like wait staff is on the young side and they may not realize that at a restaurant like this you want to enjoy the whole experience not rush really fast through it. One disappointment - the french fries were frozen! Sorry, that doesn't work in this type of restaurant, make it fresh or don't make it at all!

    We arrived by boat, excited to be back at Catch 54 after the fire. We entered through the deck, which had 8 open tables available. There were 5 hostesses at the hostess stand all clueless as to how to be a hostess. As if their job description was to stand there looking cute and being obnoxiousness and condescending to everyone that walked in. There was a line of people waiting to be seated, so we offered to sit outside since there were tables available. Hostess #5 took our name and said it would only be a couple of minutes, they ran out of menus. 15 minutes later, all 8 tables outside are still open and we are still standing there. We ask the hostess and she says it will just be another minute. 15 minutes later, we ask again and get the same response. The manager was just wondering around aimlessly and didn't seem to notice that these 5 incompetent girls really made the place look bad. We decided to leave and said to hostess #3&5 that they really shouldn't say just a minute if it's going to take 45 minutes to NOT seat a table of 3 at one of the 8 free tables outside. Instead we went Hannah's, where they were slammed. 3 hostesses, one taking names and two running around seating and actually doing something worthwhile. There was a 75 minute wait, which we appreciated the honesty, but were able to find a first come, first serve table by the outside bar area. We will not be returning to Catch 54... it's a shame.

    This is a SoDel Concept Restaurant which also owns Blue Coast, Fish On and NorthEast. My family's been fans of Blue Coast for years and never tried any other SoDel restaurants. Since the beach cities were empty during the summer of 2008 because of the high gas prices, fewer visitors meant less traffic so going to Fenwick Island was not the usual evening hassle to avoid, even from nearby Bethany Beach. So the night 8 of us went to try Catch 54, the ambiance and food was comparable to the high standard of Blue Coast, but the service was painfully and surprisingly slow, yet the place was practically empty. The Blue Coast staff, on the other hand, is incredibly attentive even when filled to capacity. If this night was an anomaly, the Maitre'd had no explanation. On the plus side, you have a choice of an upstairs dining room enclosed and air conditioned with bay views, and one downstairs with the same menu right on the water's edge all open to the bay. Bottom line, if you're traveling from Rehobeth, I wouldn't drive past Blue Coast in Bethany Beach to eat here, but if you're already in Fenwick Island or Ocean City, MD 'Catch 54' could be worth checking out.

    Overlooking Little Assawoman Bay in Fenwick Island, this long and narrow raised restaurant offers spectacular views of the water from almost every table. We started with fried baby lobster tails with a citrus teriyaki sauce. The tails were flash fried and tender. Our entrees were perfect as well, scallops on a bed of corn grits and grilled asparagus and baked crabcakes on a corn relish. We rounded out the evening with some Key Lime Pie and Apple Cobbler. Portions were good sized, not too small or too large. Wait staff was highly attentive, especially our waiter Ryan.

    My wife and I were staying in north Ocean City and looked to yelp for some help for picking a place for dinner. Really nice atmosphere and view overlooking the bay and the island beyond - a relief from OC. The food was quite tasty and despite a naysayer on some site, the crab cake was tasty. The desserts looked amazing but I was too full! The service was friendly and attentive but not obtrusive. Again, the view was great and watching the evening come down was worth it. Good value.

    We went with two other couples, had a wonderful table overlooking the water and attentive service. Everyone agreed food was good, not great, and a couple of the party had eaten at the same location, different name, and thought it had been better back then. Fish and chips was good but nothing exceptional. The salads were fresh and good, and attention was paid to requests. But I agree with another reviewer: What's with no separate checks? The least they could do is split it out for their guests. It would be a service to the diners if at the end they didn't have to have calculators in hand as they determine Frank had three drinks and coffee and dessert and Sue had just an appetizer and now who owes what? Also, why no substitutuions? Why should I have to have grits when I want potatoes just because the chef had "paired appropriately" as I was told in another restaurant. I prefer Blue Coast where I have never had a bad meal or attitude (not that our waitress had one, she was delightful and even kindly reminded us that a 20% tip had already been added to our bill. It appears that it is management that is a bit above itself here)

    My wife and I went to dinner and started by ordering two cups of coffee and an appetizer of oysters stuffed with imperial crab. The waitress served up a tiny plate with three very small oysters with a small dab of crab meat on each.After tasting the tiny oyster I realized that for two coffees and three tiny oysters my bill was already over twenty dollars,and the dinner menu looked less appealing to my wallet and we decided to try another restaurant.

    Catch 54 was disappointing for us not because of the food. We had a great dinner. My husband had tuna for his entree which was delicious and I had grilled mahi mahi with grilled summer veggies also delicious. However it took over 3.5 hours to get our dinner. We waited over an hour to be seated which we understand and expected. We sat outside and enjoyed the best views of the bay but the flood lighting was too bright and ruined the outside atmosphere with bugs flying all around us. We noticed a storm rolling in and asked if they could move us. They told us the storm was moving out and we would be ok. Right as our food was to be served the sky opened up and poured rain. The server put our food on the bar and left us to fend for ourselves to find a seat at the bar which was all ready jammed packed. My husband was told they were working on a table 30 minutes later we were seated 30 more minutes we got our dinner. We know this happens and we were more than patient however Catch 54 should plan for inclement weather especially when storm warnings are posted . This whole experience just left me with a bad impression of the management. What would of been nice if the manager would of attempted to apologise to us instead of us asking to speak to him. In the end the food was good and we will chalk it up to growing pains! And dumb luck!
