I'll try to be as succinct as possible. My experience in one sentence: it's a shame the horrible service overshadowed the excellent pizza. The restaurant was mightily understaffed, and the employees that were there were underwhelming. A waitress dropped a slice of pizza as she transferred it to the table, and neither apologized nor offered any kind of compensation. Additionally, the manager's toddler son, while shirtless, ran to the back room and threw ping pong balls at our table without being provoked. In sum, it's a very poorly run restaurant, but in an excellent location -- and that's tempting. Go elsewhere.

welcoming place for tourists, bartender Shane really made us feel comfortable. Also met the kitchen Manager Angel who checked with us to make sure we were taken care of. Kids were able to run around and play games which was great. Pizza was also really good. They had live music, which was a nice touch. Kids liked it so much we came back two nights in a row.

Service was great, bartenders were very friendly and the food was delicious! We got hot wings and bbq wings and two telluride brewery drafts. Great environment, highly recommend

I was glad to wrap up my Telluride Film Festival with a stop at High Pie. When looking for a good place to go for Pizza (Calzone in this case) and selection of craft beer. Enjoyed my experience and hope to come back again.

3.5 stars seams about right. They have all the right things going for them including live music, a rustic setting with an open bar and an easy pizza ordering system. They ran out of ingredients for the drink I wanted and graciously comp'd me another drink. The pizza is where they are lacking... friends who ate there in the winter said their pizza was burnt and refused to get the pizza again. We decided to give it another go and one pizza was cooked well and the other was undercooked. So they need a timer on the pizzas or something because they were all over the place. They tasted alright with some good flavor combinations (not traditional toppings). The other reason why they lose a star is because they assured us there would only be a 10 minute wait and clearly after waiting in an extremely slow line to order (thanks to all the customers ahead with custom pie orders) it was over 50 minutes before a pizza arrived and we had to order them to go!

Cocktails are awesome Food was delicious We had a great experience at High Pie. Great menu with lots of choices and even gluten free items. The caprese salad was great as was the pizza. The summer drink specials were amazing especially the Orange Crush and Graceland Margarita.

We didn't eat here, so I'm not sure what the food landscape is. However, we had a nice time sitting at the bar, watching football. They made me a mean cucumber martini. It was perfectly blended, probably one of the best cocktails I've had to date.

Worst service EVER. We sat at the bar for 15 minutes without so much as a "hello" or "just a minute and I'll be with you" from the bartender (blonde woman in her 40's). She served other people their 2nd and 3rd rounds, then started helping people who came in after us. That's when I spoke up and told her we'd been waiting and were here before the others. She made excuses about how busy they were, blah, blah, blah. And her attitude was terrible! Very rude. She didn't apologize for overlooking us, or offer to help us next. There was another customer sitting next to us who had the exact same complaint. We all got up and left. The place was dirty and the empty dishes sitting on the bar were never picked up. Don't waste your time going to High Pie; there are too many other nice restaurants and bars in telluride.

I usually don't write reviews if I haven't actually eaten a place's food, but after sitting at the bar for a solid 15-20 minutes without either or the two bartenders asking me if I'd possibly like something to eat or drink, I decided to get up and head next door to a much more crowded Brown Dog, where I was able to order almost immediately after sitting down. Sorry, High Pie, but time is money (even more so when it's vacation time), and you wasted mine without anything to show for it. Oh well, I can tell by looking at the photos that the pizza is mediocre.

Really good pizza and salad. Atmosphere much warmer once inside than it appeared from the street. Bartender is super friendly and helpful.

High Pie is worth the trip. We sat at the bar for lunch a few days ago and ordered the 12" Shifty Pie with prosciutto ham, arugula, onions, mushrooms and sausage. Absolutely delicious!! Our server was very friendly and helped us select our pizza and chatted with us while we ate. The layout is nice and there is entertainment for kids including a foosball table, games and a ping pong table in the back. Great food, great place.

Great pizzas (one pizza could feed two adults...although you probably won't be STUFFED) and awesome salads. The Yard Sale pizza (supreme) is awesome and loaded with quality toppings. Gluten-free options include very fresh salads which you can add grilled chicken to. Goat cheese salad was great. Overall a fun and relaxed atmosphere that is great for kids to run around.

Cool place in downtown Telluride. Excellent thin crust pizza! Service was great. Our pizza came out perfectly in about 10 minutes. Good selection local beers. Large flat screen TVs.

Nothing special here. Service was ok. You have to order at the bar and a server brings your food out. Not sure how hard it would be to have servers waiting on tables but ok. Food was very average and drinks were eh. Better places to eat in town for sure.

  • Robert K.

Bartender was aloof, salad was drenched in balsamic and the calzone lacked a healthy amount of ingredients and was not tastie.

    (1)
  • Lauren L.

The service was pretty terrible. They only had one person working the bar on a busy Sunday and he got really backed up. We ordered a calzone and it took 60 minutes for them to make it which you would think it would wouldn't take that long considering they have a huge brick oven. The atmosphere was good but don't go there if you are wanting speedy service.

This is a great pizza place. They have an awesome snowboarder atmosphere, and the food was great. In my opinion, the people who give this place one star are just not observant enough to see the LARGE sign that says "seat yourself and order at the bar". This place deserves more than 3 stars, it's not their fault it's the people who are too dumb to read the signs.

Laughable. Expensive pizza, which isn't even amazing. The crust is soft, and it's greasy. Beyond that, they messed up our order 3 times (only one other person in the restaurant). Which by that time we just accepted our fate of having the wrong pizza. portion size is small for the price and quality. We watched guests come in, and leave because no one bothered to explain to them that they have to go up and order at the counter. Which wouldn't be a a huge thing, but the waitress just stared as they left. All that I can think is wow, you watched customers walk out. Everyone obviously doesn't care and the only reason you wouldn't be rude back is because I would be worried about getting spit in my food. It seems like customer service is nonexistent in this town. Good luck, try to find somewhere worth your money.

Meh. Uninspiring pizza similar to what you would find in a college cafeteria. I've had better frozen pizzas from the supermarket. Slow, indifferent service. The meatballs were better than the pizza, but not great. I'd look elsewhere.

This place is AWESOME!! Not only do they serve the best pizza in town but they also carry a wide variety of great beers on tap. Friendly & open atmosphere with live music, games for the kids & fantastic surf videos! Thank you for bringing this new hip family friendly pizza joint to my favorite little Colorado town!

8 customers in restaurant and it took 50 minutes from the time I ordered two pizzas. Crust was undercooked, soggy, spongy, uneatable. To many toppings with no balance of flavors for their specialty pizzas. Also a 10" HAIR was in one of my pizzas, disgusting (wear a hat in the kitchen!)! At $30.91 for two 12" pizza with extra hair I would never go back to this place. No table service yet the staff is dressed in black (fine dining?). They are completely clueless. Only wish I could them 0 stars.

Went here for lunch because Brown Dog and Butcher & Baker had lines out the door. I can understand why because this place was tremendously lacking in service. First you decide what you want, then order from the counter by the brick oven. Our friends ordered first and got two salads. My wife, brother and I ordered the eggplant fries, a salad, and two pizzas. About 25 minutes went by and out came the pizzas first. No sign of the appetizers and salads. We waited a few minutes before our friends insisted we start before the pizza gets cold. So we started....and finished them. It's been about 45 minutes when our friends, (who ordered their salads before our pizza) are still sitting there with nothing to eat. started asking about the salads and the half moving high schooler said they were backed up in the back. The restaurant is half full. How can you be backed up on salads???? Our friends started demanding their money back and miraculously they came out w/in 3 minutes. Then came the eggplant fries (our appetizer) an hour late. Don't get me wrong the food was all delicious that's why it got the extra star. But you have to have patience of steel to even remember what it tasted like when watching the staff move at a snails pace. The table number tags are also horrible. We watched the staff walk circles around the place looking for these tiny industrial number tags that don't stand out at all.

My first visit, with two other adults and two kids, took place at a busy time and produced good pizza (I had the BBQ) at delivery times ranging from 60 to 70 minutes after ordering. If you thought you could arrive at a pizza joint at 6:30 to make an 8:00 movie, you'd be mistaken. We had to change our pizza to be to-go and carried boxes into the theater. During my second visit a few days later, one of the staff told me that the customers of the "packed" day before had experienced hour-long waits. On this visit, there were only about 40 people in the restaurant, and my very good Rail Jam pizza arrived in under 15 minutes. Service is good and friendly. The bar is a good place to hang out or even eat, and features two very large flat TVs and one smaller one. Overall, High Pie is a good addition to Telluride's food scene. I'm giving four stars on the presumption that they figure out how to scale to larger volumes.

After seeing the 1 star reviews, we were a little nervous to try this place. You seat yourself and order at a counter. Our apps came out in 10 minutes and the pizzas in 20. We had the fried mozzarella app which was a little small, but delicious. We had the Rodeo and Shifty pizzas. The Rodeo was the best - lots of pepperoni, sausage, and Canadian bacon. The Shifty was a little oily. Overall good experience and great food.

I've only visited once and had the plain cheese pizza. I thought it was tasty, but noticed the crust was a bit on the soggy side ... with the cheese having been cooked pretty close to where it needs to be. So, not sure if they had a whole lot of room to make the crust more crispy without burning the cheese. If it is an ongoing issue ... they'll need to figure this out. Otherwise, my 2-star rating is mostly a reflection of price structure ... which starts out at something like $11.20 for a plain cheese pizza including tax. I believe each additional topping was $2 extra. They don't serve slices and only have one "personal" sized 12" pizza offering, which I find to be inflexible from the point of view of someone who might just want to have one slice, or a larger group who would normally save $$$ by ordering fewer larger sized pizzas. The 12" pizza is about the size of two "standard" slices you'd typically find at an average pizza place in NYC - which is also a high rent area where slices are still offered up at around $2.50/slice vs. what appears to be close to $6/slice at HPP ... which wouldn't be the end of the world in terms of Telluride prices, but a customer is mandated to buy-in at what amounts to about 2 slices @ close to $12. I'd like to see this place succeed .... certainly not routing against them, but I would like to see some adjustments made re: slices and pricing. They do make their pizza's to order, so you'll get a fresh one every time ... which definitely rivals other places which have pre-made slices which get re-heated & are often hit or miss late at night or during off hours. Otherwise, this place might be a great value for two people to split a 12" and salad or if you simply have more money than you know what to do with and are just unphased.

After a long day of skiing, this was just the place I was looking for. Great selection of beers, friendly bartender, and tasty pizza. I when about 6pm and there was no wait, Two gigantic TVs with ski videos were playing. I had the Yard Sale pizza, which had just about everything on it. It was great. Since most of the beers were local the bartender gave me samples to help me find the one that I loved.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large.
