Perfect local place with good food. Stop here for breakfast instead of one of the chain restaurants near the interstate!

I've lived in Rifle for over a year but no matter how many times I give this place a try it's always a HUGE dissapointment. No one ever greats you, they have NO customer service. Today was my last straw, we walked in, we had to get out own menu, Sat down, and waited....waited...and waited, after 5 mins an other group sat down and they were brought waters and coffee within minuets! We waited another 5 mins and when saw a waitress start to take their order I decided I was done waiting. We left and walked across to shooters and not even waiting a min, we were greated, sat and drink orders taken. I'm done giving this place a try. Shooters may be smaller but their service is 5 star! If you have to wait more then 10 mins to get a drink and not even been acknowledged, I'd say it's time to move on!

Not a horrible place. Yes greasy, but definitely edible. Very quaint and simple. Menu simple as well but to be expected. It's one of the only places open around there at 60 too so it's hard to be picky when you don't have a choice. Staff was friendly and our food was out in five minutes (this should be a hint to you that they pre cook their bacon, sausage etc.) Food was inexpensive and decent. It is hard to screw up eggs and hash browns

I read the reviews first. Seems like people expect a greasy spoon to be gourmet. We got eggs/bacon, sandwiches, soup, etc. this is a perfect cafe on a long drive. Diverse menu to satisfy anyone, good service, and good prices. Exactly what we were looking for. I recommend it.

I believe the restaurant is under new ownership since the other reviews listed here were written. I went here after seeing a movie on a Saturday afternoon in June and found it to be a pretty good spot to get lunch and one of the best bets in Rifle. It was quiet, and I'm fairly certain that most of the staff is under the age of 15, but the people who ran it were friendly and the crowd was exactly who you would expect. They have a fun array of sliders.

I have to disagree with the other yelpers. Incredibly YUCKY. Hubby, toddler and I stopped on our way to Moab. It was around noon on a Thursday with a few tables filled. The whole place went quiet and the patrons stared at us when we walked in. I gave them the benefit of the doubt since we obviously look like out-of-towners and my husband and I have a significant age difference. We take a seat and I look around. The place is dirty with tons of dusty taxidermy. Though, our toddler liked the animals! Two things really stood out, the locals kept staring and loudly talking about us regarding what we ordered and how much we ate. Second, the food was awful. I ordered the eggs benedict and it was inedible. I have no idea how they make their sauce. Husband's food was not much better. The service was quick and the food is cheep. Hubby gave me grief about the meal the entire trip (I picked out the cafe.)

Great traditional American food greasy breakfast. Service was great during the morning rush, my coffee was never empty and my stomach was full at the end of the meal.

We were looking for a good local breakfast spot on our drive home on I-70. Having been scared off by reviews in Glenwood Springs, we took a chance on Rifle. The Base Camp Cafe was perfect. This place is about as local as it gets with a good crowd early on a Sunday morning. Service was super quick, food reasonably priced and delicious. There's nothing fancy here, just good old fashioned local fare. The cafe is a big, wide open room with a counter at one end. No booths, just tables and chairs. The walls are adorned with local pictures and mementos. The huevos rancheros was basic but good. Ingredients, including potatoes, were fresh cut. The green chili was perfect, not overpowering. Best of all for us, we were in and out in about 20-30 minutes and back on the road. Only downside is they don't take credit cards (checks seem to be OK and there's an ATM) We go through here a lot and suspect we'll be back.

I live in rifle and NEVER EVER eat here. The food is disgusting and greasy. There is a bistro across the street that serves WAY better food (Creekbend). Be good to your arteries and go across the street.

I dare say that I saw a nice lady wearing a camo John Deere hat in the Base Camp. Its that kind of place and I love it. Order a 1/2 portion of the breakfast items and its still a lot of food. Its way cheap and the atmosphere is classic Rifle. Good I-70 access and nice place for a stop-in.
